[AP via FOX] WASHINGTON (AP) — One by one, Democrats and Republicans trekked to the Senate floor on Sunday touting a $1 trillion infrastructure proposal and argued that, after months of haggling, it was time for a final vote on the measure.
Standing in their way: Republican Sen. Bill Hagerty of Tennessee.
The freshman senator spent the weekend using a procedural maneuver to essentially grind the chamber to a halt. A final vote that could have happened on Friday night could now linger into the early hours of Tuesday morning, forcing lawmakers to give up their second consecutive summer weekend to plod through the minutia of Senate rules.
More than a dozen Republicans have joined Democrats to clear initial hurdles on the infrastructure bill, meaning the legislation will almost certainly pass despite Hagerty's protest. But the effort could raise the profile of a one-time Trump administration official eager to align himself with the former president, who has stepped up efforts to derail the package.
"I think he’s doing Trump’s bidding. I don’t think there’s any doubt about it," Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont, one of the lead negotiators of the package, said in an interview. "I think they want to try to draw this out as long as they possibly can and hope and pray that Congress fails."
In Hagerty’s telling, his reasoning for taking a stand has less to do with Trump and more about the measure increasing the federal deficit by about $256 billion over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Once Congress approves this legislation, Democrats are planning to take up an even more ambitious — and expensive — spending measure on their own.
"Democrats’ true intention is to rush this bill through," Hagerty said Sunday, adding that Democrats want to pass the bill quickly so they can pivot to the separate $3.5 trillion spending plan, which he derided as "a socialist debt bomb."

the "Infrastructure" bill had only 10% going to classical infrastructure work. If any other business or manufacturer claim their product was something that in reality was only 10%, you betcha the FTC would be on their neck.

I'm sure Biden would oblige. The HoR would jump at it too. Until someone told them it was rapists they were 'curing'. Then there'd be... sanctions!

Issue both sides the Davey Crockett and be done with it.
As I recall, the main issue with the Davey Crockett was that the range of the weapon was about the same as the blast radius of the nuclear warhead. Which kinda sorta makes it ideal for the application Besoeker suggests.

[FOX] Dr. Anthony Fauci has warned that allowing the coronavirus delta variant to circulate freely among unvaccinated individuals could lead to a more potent variant that could harm even vaccinated individuals.
The delta variant has already given rise to a small variant known as "delta plus" variant that has a spike protein mutation that may cause it to spread faster. So far, the variant has appeared in only a few cases in several countries, but the original delta variant rapidly spread through the United States and became the dominant strain after only a few months.
So far, health officials have argued, and studies have shown, that vaccinated individuals remain protected from serious illness, hospitalization and death due to current variants of COVID-19. Fauci cautioned, however, that unvaccinated individuals will allow the virus to circulate and continue to mutate, potentially giving rise to a variant that could harm even vaccinated individuals.
"There's a tenet that everybody knows in virology: a virus will not mutate unless you allow it to replicate," Fauci told NBC’s Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press." "Fortunately for us, the vaccines do quite well against delta, particularly in protecting you from severe disease, but if you give the virus the chance to continue to change, you're leading to a vulnerability that we might get a worse variant, and then that will impact not only the unvaccinated, that will impact the vaccinated because that variant could evade the protection of the vaccine."

ALL viruses mutate. There is no way to totally eradicate a virus once it's been introduced into the wild. The only way to stop a virus from being "pandemic" is to develop immunity in the general population, either through immunization or development of natural immunities. Neither one will stop EVERYTHING, but they'll make it easier to treat those that do come down with it. Fauci is promoting more fear, and even he knows it. Someone needs to give him a long, painful lecture out behind the woodshed, and tell him to either put a plug in it, or do it for him.

Viruses tend to become less lethal with time -- the most dangerous period is when they've developed the ability to infect a new species. Killing the host is the worst outcome as far as a virus is concerned -- corpses can't make more viruses.
So letting the virus spread MIGHT develop a more lethal strain, but the odds are it will develop into a less lethal strain. Regardless, it will eventually fade into the background noise of other corona viruses.

[FoxNews] Surveillance footage that showed the brutal beating of a 22-year-old freelance photographer in Seattle emerged on social media Sunday raising new safety concerns in the city, a report said.
Jason Rantz, a host on KTTH 770AM/94.5FM, posted the footage on Twitter. The video appeared to show two men passing each other on an empty city street. The two look as though they were shaking hands, but the man in the white shirt can be seen being tossed on the ground and repeatedly stomped.
The 770 report said the victim identified himself as Caliber Visuals from Los Angeles. The incident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on July 31, the report said. The report said the suspect stole at least $900 in cash and an iPhone 12. The victim, who set up a GoFundMe page, reportedly suffered a brain bleed and a fractured eye.
Seattle Police said in a statement that a bystander "came to the victim’s aid and called 911. Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center, where he received treatment for head trauma and significant injuries to his face."
The suspect was identified as a Black male, 5’10", 180 lbs., with a medium build, and was wearing an orange and yellow t-shirt and black pants with a white stripe down the side at the time of the attack, police said. Manual Reparations
The victim reportedly posted online: "Four days later I’m trying to stay positive with the fact I’m still here and able to move forward in life but I still find myself spitting up blood and severe headaches."

Not just African-Americans and Muslims, but plenty of Whites and Hispanics have taken up this fashionable idea — mostly on the Left, but also those among the Alt-Right who’ve decided that being pro-White means hating the Jews as fake Whites.
[Victory Girls] Mike Rowe offered up his take on vaccines and the politics surrounding the virus in a thoughtful Facebook post two days ago.
In his opening he makes it clear that, while he himself did his own research and made his own personal choice to get vaccinated, he has refused multiple requests to do public service announcements pushing for folks to get vaccinated. Why?
Let’s look at what he had to say in regards to the whole ’2 weeks to flatten the curve’ mess, and his own commentary about all of us being in the same boat.
Well, I was wrong about that, too. We were not in the same boat, not then or now. We were in the same storm, but our boats were very different. Some prospered during the lockdowns and rode out the gale in yachts and pleasure crafts. Others floundered and weathered the storm in rowboats and dinghies. Some had no boat at all and hung on for dear life to whatever flotsam and jetsam they could find. Point is, I said some things I regret back then, and spoke too broadly to too many. Thus, the only thing I’ll say now regarding the vaccine, is that there is risk in everything we do, and there is risk in everything we don’t do. Thus, there is risk in getting vaccinated, and there is risk in not getting vaccinated.
All you have to do is look around you to see who did and who didn’t benefit from the two weeks of lockdowns that were extended for over 18 months. The big box stores and big groceries were deemed essential. Small businesses were shut down. Our children were kept out of school, out of sports, playgrounds were shut down, and the hysteria of fear-mongering by politicians and the media ramped up to a billion.
Yet now, with a significant portion of the population vaccinated, masking is being reimposed. But the vaccines were supposed to work..right? And no, I don’t mean that the vaccines were supposed to be a CURE, the vaccines were supposed to be a means of protection against the original virus (if we even know what it is) and protection against what we’d have to deal with regarding the variants, just like the flu shot does. Side note: Has anyone had the flu in the last two years?
Mike Rowe goes on to point out the issues of mixed messaging that we’ve received from our betters in the media and politics.
Small businesses do day an night bare knuckle operations close to where the tires meet the roads. They experience the reality of life and thus lean heavily Trunk. See - whiteness
The Big Box Store is operated by a large management team that doesn't practice management by walking around to understand the business. They only know what happens in the upper echelons in moving paper. They don't sweat the grind. They donate to the Socialist (not much differently than a Chinese businessman deals with the Party in China). Are the real 'white privilege' they all talk about, though projecting on others.

[Reason] I remember one of my mother's uncles, at a picnic, responding to a comment about a proposed gun ban with a laconic "Doesn't matter. We'll build our own." Building rifles was his hobby, I learned during that day of grilling and shooting on his land in long-ago rural New Jersey. His comment has come back to me over the years, especially after, for Christmas, my wife gifted my son and I a jig for completing an unfinished AR-15 lower receiver. Like my great uncle, we built our own. We recommend the experience.
Making personal firearms is perfectly legal under federal law, if that matters to you, though states and localities may have their own rules. To that end, finishing "80 percent" receivers has become a popular pastime since the roughed-out blocks, shaped like the part of the AR-15 rifle that contains the hammer, safety, and trigger, but with solid material where those parts should fit, can be purchased without the legal rigmarole required for buying a firearm (the privacy offered by a DIY gun is somewhat compromised if you then write an article about your activities). It's a modern version of my uncle's hobby, simplified by the use of jigs that guide drill bits and end mills for finishing the project.

....Even better - all those empty KMart and Sears stores. Most of them still have power attached and a surprising number of them have been maintained, though at a minimum level. For the most part though, they'd be perfect - big, open and easily controlled spaces, and likely far more accessible than malls.

... 1 year contingency plan.
Whether its 1 year old or 10 years old.
It is an official Written and Approved Federal Government Plan for Federal operated Interment Camps.
A plan that was quietly developed by a Administration made up of just over 1/3 Progressive / National Socialists in key leadership positions.
Another fact is, that it is STILL on the Federal Planning books and only takes a simple scribble with a Ink Pen by a Mindless Government official aka JB to activate it.
QUESTION:
Does anyone think the ruling political COUP can be trusted to use such power and authority wisely and w/o Social Political agenda applications?
How many times have we already heard the White House and related Admin appointed officials threaten to exercise greater lock-downs and door to door VAX checks and now a VAX Travel Card requirement?

[American Thinker] Well, the Olympics television viewership ratings are in for NBC and, boy, are they ugly:
NBC’s primetime coverage of the Tokyo Olympics on July 26 averaged 14.7 million viewers -- for a 49% drop compared to the equivalent night from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and 53% less than the 2012 London Olympics. The opening ceremonies saw their lowest viewership since 1988.
Fox News reports that the network is actually giving advertisers extra ad time just to make up for all the lost revenue.
And sure, there are a few reasons -- Simone Biles's exit, and subsequent Oprahfied melodrama about her mental health certainly sucked a lot of air out of the room. The capacity to watch the shows one likes on YouTube any time one likes is another. A third one is the International Olympic Committee getting rid of "guy" sports like wrestling in favor of circus-dancing contests (complete with sparkly lion-tamer costumes) such as rhythmic gymnastics. The big one, though, is the one the advertisers don't talk about: Wokester politics invading sports, which repels the public.
We saw that earlier, with professional basketball following professional football off the ratings cliff. Now the Olympics, and in particular, U.S. Olympics, has followed that sorry herd.
Some instances were out there, like turds in the Olympic punch bowl.
One, that character who crossed her arms on the Olympic podium to protest the U.S. after winning Olympic silver. Who the heck was she and what can we do to ensure we never hear from her again?

We are not hearing the all-important age group breakdown for the viewership, so you know it's bad. Happy birthday, dear M! May the pleasures of this day foreshadow an amazing year to come!
[American Thinker] Gov. Andrew Cuomo remains firm on keeping the job "the people of New York have elected him to serve."
He wasn’t going to cave after Attorney General Letitia James released a scathing 165-page investigative report detailing his "sexually predatory" and "toxic bullying" behavior targeting young women and political opponents in his administrative orbit. One of the 11 young female alleged victims indelicately summed up the governor’s behavior as "sleazy and creepy" in the extreme.
Many in Cuomo’s own party have said the governor ought to resign his office. If Cuomo is thinking of resigning, he must be doing it poolside -- at the politician’s mansion in Albany -- where he was photographed hunkering down this week. He wasn’t alone.
The governor was photographed with an unidentified (but shapely) blonde sharing the poolside experience. No doubt his public relations team viewed the photograph as an unfortunate distraction that couldn’t have come at a worse time. Impeachment proceedings against the politician are heating up, along with the endless session, now dragging into its sixth month, of the New York State Assembly.
One of the 150-member assembly claimed that Cuomo’s removal was "inevitable," asserting that 80 assembly members support impeachment, going beyond the 76 votes required for a simple majority.
Cuomo is entitled to due process, but his opponents appear to be in a hurry to speed up his removal. They are appealing to the court of public opinion, which is what really counts in turning the protracted wheels of justice. This is a domain where they rule as the masters at manipulating a compliant media. Why wait for the matter to be voted on?
[ABC via Gateway] The Department of Homeland Security said Friday they have observed "an increasing but modest level of activity online" by people who are calling for violence in response to baseless claims of 2020 election fraud and related to the conspiracy theory that former President Donald Trump will be reinstated.

Since the Berlin Wall fell every Democratic Administration has been looking hard, very hard for a Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy™. Part paranoia and part an aching need for drones in the federal law enforcement bureaucracy to justify their "phony-baloney jobs"...
[Just The News] day after the November election, as Donald Trump and other Republican candidates clung to evaporating leads in Georgia, vote counters in Atlanta were confronted by a paper ballot known only by its anonymizing number 5150-232-18.
A Dominion Voting machine had rejected the ballot on election night because the voter had filled in boxes for both Trump and his Democratic opponent Joe Biden, an error known as an "overvote." The machine determined neither candidate should get a tally, and the ballot was referred for human review.
The image of the ballot, obtained by Just the News, shows the voter messily scribbled a large blob in the box to select Trump as president while also putting a thinner check mark next to Biden's name.
At 6:10 p.m. ET on Nov. 4, 24 hours after the ballot was first scanned and rejected by Machine 5150, a panel of humans decided the vote should be awarded to Biden, with the notation "mark removed for Donald J. Trump." You can see that ballot here:

[DW] The schoolgirl surrendered to the military last month along with someone she married in captivity. The governor said she will receive psychological and medical care. Over 100 schoolgirls are still missing.
The office of the governor of Borno state in northern Nigeria, where almost 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped in the town of Chibok seven years ago, announced Saturday that one of the girls is free and has been reunited with her family.
Ruth Ngladar Pogu surrendered to the military on July 28 along with a person she had married in captivity. Officials withheld the announcement of her release from captivity to give them time to contact her parents and other families of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls, they said.
In a statement, Borno state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum said, "I am extremely excited both as Borno's governor and father of all sons and daughters of the state, and also as a father to daughters."
He added, "I know the feeling of families of those still under captivity, but we have to remain hopeful especially with today's development."
#BRINGBACKOURGIRLS THEN AND NOW
In April 2014, almost 300 schoolgirls between the ages of 12 and 17 were kidnapped by Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... in the town of Chibok in Borno state.
This sparked an international outcry and spawned the social media campaign #BringBackOurGirls, championed by Michelle Obama when she was the first lady in the White House and other prominent voices.
In the years since, about two dozen of the girls were either released or found by the military, though approximately 113 remain missing and are believed to still be captives of the Islamic holy warrior group Boko Haram.
In 2014, mediation led to the release of 82 of the girls.

The conflict has left 40,000 dead and displaced more than two million in northern Nigeria.
While Boko Haram may have pioneered mass kidnappings as a tactic, criminal gangs have launched copycat attacks with the purpose of securing ransom.
In the most recent attack last month, schoolchildren were kidnapped from a boarding school in the state of Kaduna.
It was the tenth such mass kidnapping from a school since December. An estimated 1,000 students are being held in total.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... operative, was arrested along with another from Bhatkal, Karnataka. The two to be arrested are Jufri Jawhar Damudi and Ameen Zuhaib.
The arrests were carried out following a coordinated raid between the National Investigation Agency and Karnataka police.
Damudi was under the radar of the Central agencies since April 2020 for his active role in production and dissemination of ISIS propaganda monthly online magazine "Voice of Hind". Besides ISIS propaganda/media activity, he was also looking after logistical support including procurement of arms and explosives, funding for mujahideens and recruitment. He was in direct contact with Islamic State leaders in Khorasan (Afghanistan) and Syria.
He also instigated his cyber contacts to kill kufars (disbelievers), Police Personnel, Journalists etc and inflecting damage to temples and government properties.
On cyberspace, Abu Hajir Al Badri claimed to be based in Afghanistan/Pakistain and was taking all security precautions to evade his detection by Intelligence agencies. Despite his claim to be based in Khorasan/Pakistain on social media, it was assessed that 'Abu Hajir Al Badri' might be based in India and not Khorasan.
Based on this assessment and the leads developed through the revelations of Qasim Khurasani (arrested on July 11, 2021), further intelligence investigation by Indian central agencies in co-ordination with foreign agencies, the real identity of Abu Hajir Al Badri was established as Bhatkal-based Jufri Jawhar Damudi.
Thereafter, through deft fieldwork, the agencies managed to identify Jufri Jawhar Damudi (30 years) and one of his associates Ameen Zuhaib in Bhatkal. It was also established that Jufri Jawhar Damudi is younger brother of Adnan Hassan Damudi, who was arrested by NIA in 2017 in ISIS related cases.
Jufri Jawhar Damudi accepted his association with Afghanistan- Pakistain-based IS operatives and involvement in production and dissemination of IS propaganda magazine "Voice of Hind". During search by the teams of Central agencies, teams have recovered digital media devices and incriminating jihadi literature from the raided locations.
In the last one month, raids at 21 locations spread across Anantnag, Srinagar, Bandipore, Baramulla, Mangalore, Bangalore and Bhatkal resulted in 10 arrests from 3 separate modules of ISIS in India.
This Pan-India crackdown and back to back arrests of two prominent Islamic State (ISIS) operatives i.e Qasim Khurasani and Abu Hajir Al Badri is a major blow to Islamic State and these disruptions would degrade the ISIS network in India significantly.

It's the dravidian communists down there, who have just fought off a BJP combine; they empower their criminals and moslems enough to give them the confidence to challenge New Delhi. Just like the commies in WB and the goons in Maha.
That being said, a hindu front that does not actively fight moslems or avenge hindu victims, but exists to defend rights of temple trusts and silly rituals and dogma, deserves no sympathy.
[FOXNEWS] Nearly two dozen Texas House Democrats who fled the state last month have sued Gov. Greg Abbott ... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too... and other Republican officials, alleging that GOP efforts to bring them back to the state Capitol for a special legislative session infringed on their constitutional rights.
The 22 plaintiffs have been "deprived of liberty for substantial periods of time, suffered much anxiety and distress over separation from their families, and much discomfort and embarrassment," the complaint filed late Friday alleges.
Abbott, House Speaker Dade Phelan and State Rep. James White are all named as defendants in the case.
The lawsuit alleges that the three Republicans have "by public statements and otherwise, to attempt to deny, coerce, threaten, intimidate, and prevent" the Democrats and constituents from voting in elections, speaking publicly about their constitutional rights, and their right to not being arrested without probable cause.
The suit comes after Abbott called for the arrests of more than 50 Texas House Democrats who fled the state in July for Washington, D.C., in a bid to stop a Republican-backed voter integrity bill from passing in a special legislative session.
It was the second time that Texas Democrats staged a walkout on the voting bill, and left the state’s House of Representatives without a quorum to pass the bill.

These dimwits should have been thrown in the clink. I can't see where they suffered any wrongs or injuries. They didn't do the jobs they were elected to do. They were AWOL. They broke the law. What chutzpah from this bunch of morons. Hope the judge tosses the case with prejudice.

So, they were hired to do a job and didn't show up for work. Texas is an At-Will state, Abbott should consider that quitting the job and arrange for special elections.
"Focus: Job Abandonment
There is no official definition of job abandonment in the statute or the TWC regulations. It is mentioned in the following TWC precedent cases: Appeal No. 97-004610-10-042497, VL 135.05(6); Appeal No. 1197-CA-71, VL 450.02(2); Appeal No. MR 86-2479-10-020687, MC 90.00; and Appeal No. 764254-2, MC 135.05 (cross-listed at VL 135.05). The concept of job abandonment is generally defined by each company in its employee handbook. The basic idea is to set a limit for the number of days an employee can be completely out of contact with the company, beyond which the company will presume that the employee has decided not to return to work at all. Most companies define job abandonment as absence without notice for three or more days in a row. Such work separations are generally considered voluntary, although TWC may view certain job abandonment-caused work separations as involuntary, depending upon how the claimant and employer explain their respective positions and on what the facts show."
[Al Jazeera] The months-long conflict in Æthiopia faces a fresh wave of fighting as an Amhara regional official says Amhara forces will launch an offensive on Saturday against Tigrayan forces who have entered the region and taken control of a town hosting a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
"This is the time for the Amhara people to crush the terrorist group," Sema Tiruneh, the Amhara region’s head of peace and security, told the regional state-affiliated Amhara Media Corporation on Friday.
"Preparations have been under way to reverse these moves and an offensive will start tomorrow. Freedom doesn’t come cheap. Everyone should come forward and defend themselves."
Separately, Æthiopia’s foreign ministry on Friday warned that the Tigray forces’ incursion into the Amhara and Afar regions in recent weeks "is testing the federal government’s patience and pushing it to change its defensive mood which has been taken for the sake of the unilateral humanitarian ceasefire".
The incursions have displaced some 300,000 people, it said.
Æthiopia’s government is "being pushed to mobilise and deploy the entire defensive capability of the state" if overtures for a peaceful resolution to the conflict are not reciprocated, the statement said.
Æthiopia’s government declared a unilateral ceasefire in late June during a stunning turn in the war, as its military retreated from Tigray and the resurgent Tigray forces retook key towns and walked into the regional capital, Mekelle, to cheers.
The conflict erupted in Tigray in November after a falling-out between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the Tigray ruling party that had dominated Æthiopia’s government for nearly 30 years. Since then, thousands of people have been killed.
Getachew Reda, the front man for resurgent Tigray forces, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency that if forces from Amhara launch the threatened offensive on Saturday, "we’ll extend a warm welcome".
Getachew says Tigray forces have crossed into the Amhara region, and the Afar region, in recent weeks in an attempt to break the blockade that Æthiopia’s government has imposed on Tigray and its six million people. Hundreds of thousands of people face famine conditions, and the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... and the United States this week sent high-level officials to Æthiopia to urge more access to aid.
"We have to deal with anyone who’s still shooting," Getachew said. "If it takes marching to Addis to silence the guns, we will." But civilians should not fear, he said in response to allegations by ethnic Amhara that the Tigray forces have carried out attacks.
[PUNCHNG] A newly-launched joint report by the International Committee on Nigeria and the International Organisation for Peace Building and Social Justice has asserted that Nigeria is currently experiencing genocide, describing the nation as "a failed state."The report, titled, "Nigeria’s Silent Slaughter," stated that no fewer than 43,242 Nigerians have been killed by Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... and Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... gunnies while 18,834 others bit the dust in the hands of killer Fulani ... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity... herdsmen over a 20-year period.
It added that 34,233 other Nigerians met their deaths through extrajudicial killings by other actors, including the police, military and others.
The report lamented what it described as the "breakdown of the rule of law, spiraling violence, atrocities against targeted religious groups and innocent civilians and the apparent impunity of the perpetrators" in Nigeria.
According to the report, the combination of these factors contributed to transform Nigeria into "largely a failed state and regional epicentre for terrorism."
The authors of the report added that their assertion found support in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1948 United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... Convention on Genocide.
"There is strong evidence and a compelling legal argument that over the past decade or so, and increasingly under the current Fulani Moslem-dominated Nigerian government of Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria is experiencing what could be seen as targeted religious genocide, or what, at the very least, is widespread and often coordinated religious persecution campaigns being conducted against Christians," the report stated in its introduction overview signed by the Executive President of ICON, Stephen Enada, and Executive Director, PSI, Dr Richard Ikiebe.

[NATION.PK] At least 26 Chadian soldiers were killed in an attack by bully boyz in the troubled Lake Chad region, a senior local official said on Thursday. "Twenty-six members of the Chadian army fell on the field of honour, 14 others have been maimed, including eight seriously," the army’s front man General Azem Bermandoa Agouna told AFP.
"Several gunnies were neutralised and clean-up operations continue," he added. The region’s deputy prefect, Haki Djiddi, told AFP earlier that 24 soldiers were killed on Wednesday when Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... attacked them when they were resting after returning from patrol. Mahamat Idriss Deby, president of the military transition council since his father died in April during fighting with rebels, said the stakes are high. The soldiers’ deaths "recall the security challenges we are still facing in a part of our borders," Deby said.
"The heavy toll that we pay in this asymmetric war is bitter but it will not be in vain," he said. "We will make the terrorist hydra capitulate," he said.

[GREATERKASHMIR] In a major crackdown in Jammu and Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... , the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday conducted raids at multiple locations over the resurgence of activities by banned ...the word banned seems to have a different meaning in Pakistain than it does in most other places. [BenarNews] U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed grave concern Friday about what he described as China’s growing nuclear arsenal and told an annual regional security conference that the Asian superpower should also cease "provocative behavior" in the South China Sea.
America’s top diplomat raised these concerns during his first appearance in that role before the ASEAN Regional Forum, a virtual meeting that drew his counterparts from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations and 10 of the bloc’s dialogue partners, including China, Russia, Japan and other world powers.
"The Secretary ... noted deep concern with the rapid growth of the PRC’s [People’s Republic of China’s] nuclear arsenal which highlights how Beijing has sharply deviated from its decades-old nuclear strategy based on minimum deterrence," the State Department said in a statement about Blinken’s participation at the meeting.

Via Colonel Cassad (Boris Rozhin):
[ConsortiumNews] The monarchical-sounding declaration by Kaïs Saïed eight days ago was stunning: the president who was freely elected in 2019 (for only the second time in Tunisian history) was basically proclaiming a coup d’etat by dismissing the prime minister and suspending parliament.
Saïed was elected nine years after the overthrow of President Zine Ben Ali, who in 1987 as the security chief launched a coup against Habib Bourguiba, the founding president of Tunisia. The 1987 coup was classified in Arab political terminology as a “medical coup”, because Ben Ali stated that Bourguiba was no longer mentally fit to assume the duties of the office.
As is well-known, the protests against the corruption and repression of Ben Ali (a darling of Western governments and lending institutions) sparked the Arab uprisings in December 2010.
SURPRISE WINNER
Kaïs Saïed was an unexpected victor in the 2019 presidential election. He was a professor of constitutional law, did not belong to a political party and was not affiliated with any political ideology.
He won support in television debates largely due to his strong command of classical Arabic in a country where French influence remains strong.
Furthermore, Saïed’s campaign was noted for his firm and categorical denunciation of any normalization with Israel. His answers regarding Palestinian rights and rejection of Israel were a hit on social media, and helped propel him to the top job.
Saïed attracted support among Tunisian youth because he represented a new genre of politicians who have not been tainted by the corrupt system.
The political system that emerged after the end of the Ben Ali rule suffered from many weaknesses; the divide between the secularists and the Islamists only widened, and the regional, political wars between the UAE and Saudi Arabia on the one hand, and Qatar and Turkey on the other hand, raged inside Tunisia, just as they did in Libya and elsewhere. [AllAfrica] Mozambican security forces are preventing tens of thousands of civilians displaced by jihadist attacks around the northern town of Palma from moving to safer areas, Human Rights Watch said.
Most of these people fled their homes when Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. -linked Lions of Islam launched coordinated attacks on Palma on March 24, killing dozens as they ransacked their way through the port town.
Many of the displaced sought refuge in the nearby village of Quitunda, close to a major gas project about five kilometers (three miles) from Palma, where HRW claims, in a report released Friday, they have been trapped by troops and ongoing fighting.
"Government security forces have imposed restrictions that have prevented tens of thousands from leaving, placing them at risk from fighting and aid shortages," HRW said in a statement, adding that civilians caught trying to flee were "physically assaulted."
Mozambique has been grappling with a homegrown insurgency terrorizing its gas-rich Cabo Delgado province since 2017.
The attack on Palma prompted other African countries to deploy troops to back the struggling Mozambique army.
HRW accuses Mozambique of restricting movement around Palma district, making it difficult for humanitarian groups to deliver aid and exposing civilians to renewed Death Eater attacks.
Army officials have defended the measures, claiming jihadists are hiding among civilians and aid workers, according to the watchdog.
"Soldiers didn't allow us to leave Quitunda, but there is nothing there, no food, no medicine, and the water is dirty," a 28-year-old man told HRW.
"I tried to flee Quitunda three times before. Soldiers caught me and whipped me hard," he added.
Defense ministry front man Custodio Massingue told AFP he was unaware of the allegations and that the government "distances itself from the reports."
Cabo Delgado's insurgency has displaced more than 800,000 people.
The violence has killed more than 2,800 people, half of them civilians, according to U.S. conflict tracker ACLED.
It has also set back multibillion-dollar gas exploration projects off the Afungi peninsula.

[LIBYAREVIEW] The Ajdabiya Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Branch seized a 500-kilogram (kg) shipment of narcotics heading from Sabha ...After the Libyan Civil War, Sabha grew in importance as a slave auctioning town. However, an investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) revealed that while there was illegal slavery, reports were exaggerated, as slave auctions were rare and not made public. This was a great comfort to everyone but the slaves peddled in secret. The city was later seized by forces loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leader Khalifa Haftar in January 2019, probably for its collection of MiG-25 aircraft.... to Tobruk. The branch stated that in the early hours of Saturday morning, the patrols of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau in the eastern region seized the quantity in a transport truck. This is the third within a month.
The Ajdabiya Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Branch indicated, through its Facebook account, that the total seizures are estimated at 20,200 kg.
The Anti-Narcotics Branch emphasized that these confiscations were not by chance, but rather an integrated coordination effort between drug control branches and offices.
Notably, in May Niger police seized a record 17 tonnes of cannabis resin worth around $37 million in a shipment originating in Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers, a practice dating back to the heady human sacrifice days of Baal Moloch. In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate faci8lity exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that... and bound for Libya, the front man for the West African nation’s anti-drugs trafficking agency said on Friday.
The drugs passed through the Togolese port of Lome before being transported by truck North to the Nigerien capital Niamey, over 1,000 km (621 miles) and two border crossings away, said front man Adili Toro.

[IsraelTimes] Suspects accused of singling out Jewish drivers on Route 31 and pelting them with stones, blocking road with burning tires amid conflict with Gaza Strip.
Five Bedouin residents of the town of Kuseife in the south of the country were indicted on terror charges Sunday for alleged acts of violence in May during an armed conflict between Israel and the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip.
The incidents happened on Route 31, between Beersheba and the Dead Sea, on the night of May 11-12, the Israel Police said in a statement.
A joint effort by the police and the Shin Bet security service brought about the arrest of suspects starting in mid-July. Though the statement did not say how many were arrested, five suspects were indicted for acts of terror committed on Route 31 between Shoket Junction and the city of Arad, close to an overpass.
They were named as Abdalla Nesarsah, Shadi Nesarsah, Nihad Nesarsah, Salaman al-Saraiah, and Naggi al-Saraiah, all Israeli citizens in their 20s and residents of Kuseife.
According to the indictments the suspects went to the overpass, some of them masked, and waved Paleostinian flags and threw burning tires down onto the road to block it. The suspects also allegedly threw stones at passing buses and cars on Route 31, causing damage.
Prosecutors say that some of the suspects checked the vehicles before attacking them, targeting only those that had Jews, but not Arabs who signaled their ethnicity by, among other things, playing loud Arab music.
From May 10-21 Israel fought against the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror group in the Gaza Strip. In response to thousands of rockets fired by the Paleostinian terror group at Israeli cities, the IDF carried out hundreds of bombing raids on Hamas targets in the coastal enclave.
The fighting also sparked mass unrest in mixed Arab-Jewish locales in Israel.
[Al Jazeera] A bigwig from Tunisia’s Ennahdha party has been placed under house arrest over an alleged abuse of authority.
Anouar Maarouf became the most prominent member of the party to be targeted since President Kais Saied dismissed the prime minister and suspended parliament on July 25 in what Ennahdha termed a coup.
Maarouf was "informed by security forces that he has been placed under house arrest without providing him with a written copy or a justified order issued by the Minister of Interior, as stipulated by law", the Ennahdha party said in a statement on Friday, adding that it would appeal the decision.
The appeal is new news.
"It was an arbitrary decision that affects the right of movement, travel and freedom of expression."
The statement added that the party has instructed "its legal office to challenge this decision before the Administrative Court".
The interior ministry has not commented on the statement.
Maarouf was head of the Ministry of Communications and Technology from 2016 to 2020. President Saied had suggested that the ministry was manipulated by political parties for their own advantage.
[Al Jazeera] US prosecutors say they have charged two Myanmar citizens over a plot to attack the country’s United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... ambassador, Kyaw Moe Tun, an outspoken supporter of the democracy movement who has refused orders by the military government to quit.
In an alleged conspiracy foiled by US Sherlocks, the pair spoke of hiring assailants to force Kyaw Moe Tun to resign or, if he refused, to kill him, officials said on Friday.
The pair "plotted to seriously injure or kill Myanmar’s ambassador to the United Nations in a planned attack on a foreign official that was to take place on American soil", said Audrey Strauss, the US attorney for the southern district of New York.
Jacqueline Maguire, the acting assistant director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, said law enforcement acted "quickly and diligently" after learning last month of the potential liquidation that was planned in Westchester County, a suburban area north of New York City.
"Our laws apply to everyone in our country, and these men will now face the consequences of allegedly breaking those laws," she said.

[NATION.PK] Pakistain on Sunday refuted India's 'baseless' allegations that claimed that it wanted to infiltrate hard boyz along the Line of Control (LoC).The world is aware of India running a smear campaign against Pakistain, as it had been exposed by the EU DisinfoLab’s report, stated Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We categorically reject the baseless allegations that Pakistain wanted to infiltrate so-called 'terrorists' via the Line of Control (LoC)," he added.
Questioning the truthfulness of the Indian claims, he wondered how Pakistain could infiltrate hard boyz across the LoC when it was one of the most militarised zones in the world, with over 900,000 Indian security personnel posted there.
Chaudhri added that India has installed layered barbed wire fences, security systems, and electronic surveillance devices, making it impossible for anything to cross the LoC to enter IIOJK.
He turned his guns on India, accusing New Delhi of stoking the flames of terrorism in Pakistain.
"On its part, India has been involved in state-terrorism in IIOJK and against Pakistain. From the Samjhota Express killings of February 2007 to the terrorist blast in Lahore in June 2021, terror incidents targeting Paks have had an Indian hand," Foreign Office stated.
In 2020, Pakistain provided irrefutable evidence of India's involvement in terrorism and patronage, the front man said. In February this year, Pakistain urged India to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
The spokesperson added that India must not use baseless "infiltration attempts as a handy ploy to find excuses to scuttle the ceasefire understanding."
The consequences of India's irresponsible behaviour will not be good for peace and security in the region, the Foreign Office spokesperson concluded.

"Today, late (in the evening) the center of Takhar province (Taluqan) with all relevant offices (governor’s office, police headquarters, intelligence center, prison and all government installations) are won," he said in a statement that also instructed fighters not to enter peoples’ homes or make arrests.
Authorities confirmed assaults and said resistance is underway, while there was no immediate confirmation or rejection from the Afghan government.
Earlier, the advancing Taliban marched on at least three more scenic provincial capitals in northern Afghanistan a day after capturing Sheberghan, the capital of Jawzjan province.

[LIBYAREVIEW] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... continues to recruit mercenaries and foreign forces of Evil in order to send them to Libya, to preserve Ankara’s interests and expand its military presence inside the country, sources revealed to Libya Review.
The sources explained that Ankara recruited Sudanese gangs in order to send them to the South of Libya to target the army forces stationed on the Chadian border. The Libyan-Chadian boarder is a highly volatile area, following the killing of Chad’s President Idriss Déby in armed attacks last April.
The sources added that the company responsible for recruiting a group of Sudanese mercenaries is owned by Ottoman Turkish businessman Oktay Shaban Hosni. Oktay is close to Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important... The sources confirmed that Oktay assigned the task of recruiting Sudanese miners to send them to Libya, to a Ottoman Turkish person named Youssef. Youssef works under the cover of operating in the maintenance of heavy machines and loaders.
Oktay left Sudan after the fall of the previous regime, who assigned him there. Sources said that "the Ottoman Turkish company responsible for recruitment operations continues to work in various forms due to its officials’ extensive relations with workers and miners in Sudan."
Observers believe that Turkey views the Libyan South with great interest, as 70% of Libya’s wealth is concentrated in this region.
In February, a report by a team of United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... Security Council experts revealed that Sudanese gangs participated in the fighting in Libya.
In recent months, gangs, most of them foreigners, launched numerous attacks on southern Libya. They targeted the forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA), which prompted the latter to launch proactive campaigns to "purify"this area.
The continuing efforts to bring mercenaries into Libya and the presence of foreign forces in many parts of Libya remain a major obstacle to the holding of the Libyan upcoming elections, scheduled for next December.
On the sidelines of Libyan Prime Minister, Abdelhamid al-Dbaiba’s visit to Turkey on Saturday, Ottoman Turkish Defence Minister, Hulusi Akar, said Ottoman Turkish forces will not leave Libya. This move raises doubts about Ankara’s intention to open the way for a political solution and withdraw mercenaries and its affiliated forces from Libya.

[Garowe] The State Department has designated five Jihadists from Africa, in the latest move meant to counter global terrorism, which is fast taking roots in Africa, a continent that had previously been peaceful from such activities.
In a statement, the US said it has designated Ali Mohammed Rage "Ali Dhere", and Abdikadir Mohammed Abdikadir "Ikrima" as global terrorists. The US says Ali Dhere has been involved in attack planning in Kenya and Somalia, while Ikrima served as Head of Operations and Logistics.
"Ali Mohammed Rage, also known as Ali Dheere, is al-Shabaab ...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them... ’s front man and a big shot of the group. He replaced Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, al-Shabaab’s top front man in May 2009. Rage has been involved in attack planning that has targeted areas in Kenya and Somalia," the US said.
Robow is now on NISA house arrest after he was barred from running for Southwest state presidency in December 2018 by the Somali government.
"Abdikadir Mohammed Abdikadir, also known as Ikrima, is a controller and operational planner. As of November 2019, Abdikadir was an al-Shabaab big shot and served as the Head of Operations and Logistics. Abdikadir had also directed previous attack planning for al-Shabaab," it added.
As a result of Friday's actions, among other consequences, all property and interests in property of these individuals must be blocked and reported to the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control [OFAC], the statement read.
In addition, persons that engage in certain transactions with the persons designated may themselves be exposed to the designation. The two were some of the senior-most al-Shabaab leaders in Somalia.
"Furthermore, any foreign financial institution that knowingly facilitates a significant financial transaction or provides significant financial services for the persons designated today could be subject to U.S. correspondent account or payable-through account sanctions," State Department noted..
Others who were designated include Bonomade Machude Omar, the senior military commander of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Omar led a group of forces of Evil who killed dozens of people in an attack on the Amarula Hotel in the town of Palma in March, Blinken said.
He also is responsible for attacks elsewhere in Mozambique and in Tanzania, Blinken said. Sidang Hitta and Salem Ould al-Hasan, big shots of Mali-based al Qaeda-linked Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Moslemin, were designated.
Al-Shabaab has been terrorizing innocent civilians, security forces, and senior government officials in Somalia and across the border. Another group that identifies itself as al-Shabaab has been punishing residents of Cabo Delgado in Mozambique.

The Nigerian military has in the last two weeks embarked on sustained, well-coordinated land and air bombardments, exerting pressure on the Lions of Islam and their sympathisers.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... West Africa Province (Iswap) have resorted to propaganda to attract replacements.
Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the army's public relations director, reported that a good number of Lions of Islam has been surrendering to troops.
"Apparently, there are indications that their fighting capability has been severely encumbered by devastating depletion, with their remnants deserting various enclaves," he said.
PSYCHOLOGICAL STRATEGY
He noted that in a bid to replace fighters, they have resorted to clandestine pursuits of unsuspecting individuals whom they want to join their fold.
"They have embarked on a subtle recruitment drive using propaganda videos to portray a lavish lifestyle in their so-called fortress; a psychological strategy desperately deployed to attract impressionable youths and unsuspecting individuals," he said.
"A cursory look at the videos, however, revealed an amateur work of doctored old clips and images from different backgrounds, skewed with blurred imageries that are incoherent and illogical."

In a rare stroke of bipartisanship, Republicans joined the Democrats to overcome the 60-vote threshold needed to advance the measure toward final votes. The vote was 67-27, a robust tally. If approved, the bill would go to the House.
But momentum dragged as opponents refused to yield 30 hours of required debate before the next procedural vote, which could delay swift passage of the package and result in a dayslong slog.

If your goal is to loot what is left of the treasury to enrich your friends in the near term, and impoverish your enemies while you can still exercise the stolen power of public office, and the end-state you seek is open rebellion so you can crush what is left of middle class, whom you know will be the core of resistence in the new workers paradise, what better way than instituting Venezuela style fiscal policies. The preposterous story of an insurrection is to create the contrived pretext of rebellious white supremacy that will explain the coming civil unrest by those whose future you have destroyed.

[Regnum] The United States returned to Iraq 17,000 archaeological artifacts stolen from museums after the invasion of the American army in 2003. The treasures were flown to Baghdad on the plane of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi, who met in Washington with US President Joe Biden.
Iraqi Culture Minister Hassan Nazim called such restitution "unprecedented." According to him, this largest return of antiquities "was the result of many months of efforts by the Iraqi authorities." This is the second action undertaken by the United States to return the illegally exported artifacts to Iraq. The first took place in 2006, when a statue of the Sumerian king Entemena from the National Museum of Iraq was returned to Baghdad.
The statistics are as follows: out of 15,000 exhibits of the National Museum in Baghdad, only about 4,000 were returned. Some of the artifacts returned to Iraq were seized by customs authorities, others were acquired by various universities and museums.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in 2003-2004, after the American invasion of the country, more than 130,000 cultural and historical values were removed from it.
Experts consider the plundering of Iraqi museums (Baghdad, Mosul, etc.) to be the biggest cultural catastrophe of the century. They featured collections from the prehistoric, Sumerian, Assyrian, Babylonian and Islamic periods.
After the American invasion in 2003, about 200,000 objects of art and culture were stolen from museums and libraries of Iraq, most of which are of global value, including masterpieces of the most ancient civilizations of Ur, Sumer, Babylon, Assyria and other states. Moreover, many of them have already been destroyed and cannot be restored. At the same time, the evidence collected by the volunteers of the Middle East office of the Stringers Bureau of International Investigation shows that the massive looting of Iraqi historical museums was systematic and planned.
Most of the artifacts removed from Iraq migrated to the black market, where there is a great demand for historical values from the Middle East. Even the largest auction houses are not shy about putting up valuables stolen in Iraq for sale. So, in 2008, unique gold earrings from treasures found during excavations of the Assyrian capital of Nimrud in northern Iraq were removed from the Christie's auction in New York only at the last moment.
Now the fact is that in Iraq, almost all the monuments of the ancient civilizations of Sumer and Babylon have been damaged or destroyed, and the country's largest historical museums have been thoroughly cleaned out. Recall how a scandal erupted in the fall of 2012 when the testimony of a translator who personally watched the loading of boxes with the archives of Iraqi Jews onto American transport planes became known. Most of the most valuable documents from the collection of the Jewish community of Iraq, according to the representative of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Ali Abdul Hasan, date from the period of the Babylonian captivity (VI century BC). And to save Babylon, even a special commission of UNESCO had to be created.
Iraq has demanded and is demanding that the United States return the stolen artifacts. A fierce war is going on in this field. In March 2011, the media got around the message: Dr. Doni George, an Assyrian scientist, died of a sudden heart attack at the airport of the Canadian city of Toronto. He was in a hurry to speak to the Canadian audience with a lecture on the search for treasures stolen from Iraqi museums.
Since 2003, George's main concern has been the struggle to return to his homeland valuables stolen by Americans from museums and stolen from archaeological sites in Iraq. George never concealed that the US government was complicit in the planned theft of Iraqi art treasures.
But be that as it may, Iraqi archaeologists are happy to touch again the treasures, which they already considered lost. According to the director of the Iraqi Institute for the Preservation of Antiquities and Heritage Abdullah Khorshid Qader, the country has begun to restore museums and archaeological sites that were damaged during the war. He expressed the hope that other countries, not only the United States, will help return the stolen historical treasures to their homeland.

[LIBYAREVIEW] In a report, the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) warned that the so-called Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. West Africa Province (ISWAP) located near Lake Chad affiliated with the terrorist organization the Islamic State (ISIS), has begun to arrange its ranks. It noted that it recently received hundreds of elements affiliated with the organization coming from Libya with the aim of carrying out attacks inside the continent.
In a report, ISS confirmed that the organization is now planning to carry out attacks in the the African Sahel region ... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas... . ISS explained that the organization will receive support (equipment and combatants) from Libya, in order to expand in the region. This expansion could endanger the lives of millions of Africans.
That’s the new bit.
The institute pointed out that some of these combatants left the group between 2016 and 2018, fleeing to Libya and Sudan. A driving factor was ISWAP’s leadership, particularly the brutality of former military head Mustapha Krimima.
It added that some deserters were unhappy with the 2016 Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... split that created ISWAP and Jema’ah Ansharusy Syariah (JAS), while others wanted to join ISIS in Libya. Their return could boost ISWAP’s ranks and combat experience, as shown by their role in the May Sambisa attack.
According to ISS research, 130 or more former fighters rejoined ISWAP after returning from Libya in three groups between April and June. At least 70 more are expected to return in the near future.
Sources say the combatants use the Libya-Algeria-Mali-Niger-Nigeria route favoured by ISIS and ISWAP rather than the direct Libya-Niger-Nigeria passage. With its long stretch of desert, the latter is more difficult to navigate, with frequent reports of travellers dying of hunger and thirst. The route is also used by human traffickers and therefore has stricter security checks.
[CollegeFix] Two women’s volleyball coaches at the University of Oklahoma argue in a legal motion that they have the right to discipline players for their political beliefs.
Player Kylee McLaughlin sued coaches Lindsey and Kyle Walton along with the OU Board of Regents earlier this year, alleging "she had been excluded from the team [...] over her politically conservative views."
The OU Daily reported that McLaughlin, the OU team captain and first team All-Big 12 selection in 2018 and 2019, had made comments that "at least one" of her teammates considered "racist" following a team viewing of the Netflix documentary "13th."
McLaughlin was told to attend a follow-up discussion on the issue — mass incarceration of black Americans — which she did.
Later, after McLaughlin had tweeted out her disagreement (a skull and crossbones and laughing clown emojis) at the University of Texas’s possible dropping of its school song "The Eyes of Texas," Lindsey Walton "urg[ed] her to delete [the] tweet." In a subsequent hour-long phone conversation, she told McLaughlin "I can’t save you when you get into the real world when you leave here."
Kyle Walton allegedly told McLaughlin "[I’m] not sure I can coach you anymore." McLaughlin did end up apologizing to U. Texas’s volleyball players and head coach for her tweet.

The University of Wisconsin removed a controversial boulder from its Madison campus Friday after the Black Student Union and other activists objected to its description nearly 100 years ago with a racial slur.
Chamberlin Rock, which rests atop Observatory Hill, is named after a 19th Century geologist and former university president, Thomas Crowder Chamberlin, whose work centered on glacial deposits, according to a bio on the university’s website.
But it was a reporter’s reference to the rock in a nearly century-old Wisconsin State Journal article that prompted the push for its removal.
In October 1925, the university had the boulder excavated and placed prominently atop the hill to honor Chamberlin, who would die in Chicago three years later. The rock was a rare specimen believed to be more than 2 billion years old, and before it was installed on Observatory Hill, only about a foot and a half was visible above ground, according to the article. It was believed to have been carried by glaciers from Canada to Wisconsin.
In the 1920s, a slang term used to describe large dark rocks included the N-word, and it appears in coverage of the rock’s installation.
University researchers did not uncover other instances in print where the rock was referred to with this word, but they said the Ku Klux Klan was active on campus at the time of the rock’s dedication, according to an article in the same newspaper published earlier this week.
Juliana Bennett, a senior and a campus representative on the Madison City Council, said removing the rock signaled a small step toward a more inclusive school.
"This moment is about the students, past and present, that relentlessly advocated for the removal of this racist monument," she told the Associated Press. "Now is a moment for all of us BIPOC students to breathe a sigh of relief, to be proud of our endurance, and to begin healing."
University Chancellor Rebecca Blank approved Chamberlin Rock’s removal back in January, but the school also needed approval from the Wisconsin Historical Society because the boulder sat within just 15 feet of a Native American burial site.
Chamberlin will get a new plaque in a building already named after him, and the boulder will find a new home near Lake Kegonsa on other university-owned land.
Student groups had also demanded the removal of an Abraham Lincoln statue from campus – but university leaders rejected that request.

[Al Jazeera] The upcoming election in Nicaragua "has lost all credibility", the United States has said, amid a string of arrests of presidential hopefuls and the disqualification of the main opposition party set to challenge President Daniel Ortega in the November polls.
In a statement on Saturday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the move to disqualify the Citizens Alliance for Liberty (CXL) demonstrates that Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, have a "desire to remain in power at all costs".
"The United States views the regime’s latest undemocratic, authoritarian actions — driven by Ortega’s fear of an electoral loss — as the final blow against Nicaragua’s prospects for a free and fair election later this year," the statement reads.
"That electoral process, including its eventual results, has lost all credibility."
Dozens of opposition leaders and presidential contenders have been detained since early June in Nicaragua as the government rounded up individuals it accused of planning a coup against Ortega.
But human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... groups and international observers have accused the longtime leader of increasing authoritarianism and seeking to clear the way of potential opponents in his bid to secure a fourth consecutive term as president in the November 7 elections.
Seven presidential hopefuls are among those detained in recent weeks.
Ortega’s Sandinista National Liberation Front ...the Turkic paramilitaries intended to replace with their native jihadi ferocity all the highly trained Turkish soldiers Sultan Erdogan I the much beloved has jailed in the last few years for not worshipping the ground he walks upon. The Uighurs and so forth who did not join Al Nusra or ISIS seem to have ended up here... (FSLN) party confirmed last week that the 75-year-old would seek re-election, with Murillo as his running mate again.
The wave of arrests has prompted the US and European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... to impose sanctions and visa restrictions on Nicaraguan officials in recent weeks as they seek to pressure the government to release the detainees and ensure free and fair elections can be held.
"The political situation in Nicaragua has further deteriorated in recent months," the Council of the EU said in a statement this week, as it announced fresh sanctions against eight Nicaraguan government officials, including Murillo.
"The political use of the judicial system, the exclusion of candidates from the elections and the arbitrary delisting of opposition parties are contrary to basic democratic principles and constitute a serious violation of the rights of the Nicaraguan people."
Ortega governed Nicaragua from 1979 to 1990 and returned to power in 2007, winning two successive re-election bids since then.

Meanwhile, back on the plantation, Democrats and not a few republicans are desperately seeking ways to keeping Donald Trump off the 2024 Ballot, not to mention keeping the insecure mail in balloting mandated in place.
[FOXNEWS] A Texas man who fatally shot a San Antonio police officer twice in the head in 2016 was sentenced to death on Friday.
Otis McKane, 36, was found guilty of capital murder July 26 in the execution-style slaying of Detective Benjamin Marconi.
McKane claimed that Marconi, a 20-year veteran, was a random target of his anger but prosecutors said the defendant had been stalking the detective and planning his "heinous and unspeakable" murder, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
The Bexar County jury deliberated for 7 and a half hours Friday before recommending the sentence. It took less than 30 minutes for the jury to find him guilty, according to the Express-News.
McKane killed Marconi, 50, on a busy street in front of witnesses while the detective was writing a ticket during an overtime shift, the Express-News reported. The murder was caught on security-camera video.
As he was being taken to jail following the shooting, McKane told news hounds that he "lashed out at someone who didn’t deserve it" because he was upset with the court system. McKane said he was angry because he had not been allowed to see his son during a custody battle.
ATTACKED BAILIFF IN COURT
Extra sheriff's deputies surrounded McKane during the sentencing Friday after he attacked a bailiff on July 26 when jurors found him guilty. The jury could have recommended a sentence of life imprisonment without parole.

[AlAhram] Iran's new ultraconservative President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday named the chairman of a powerful state-owned foundation sanctioned by the United States as his first vice-president, the president's official website said.
Mohammad Mokhber, long rumoured by local media to be top pick for the position, has for years headed the foundation known as Setad, or the Execution of Imam Khomeini's order, in reference to the Islamic republic's founder Ruhollah Khomeini.
Mokhber was appointed to the position by the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini... in 2007, following a string of official positions at the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
The Setad was originally founded in the late 1980s to manage confiscated properties following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
It has since turned into a sprawling conglomerate with stakes in various industries, including health, and its Barekat Foundation produced out Iran's first local Covid-19 vaccine project.
The vaccine received emergency approval in June from health authorities in the Middle East's worst-hit country.
The Setad and Mokhber were blacklisted by the US Treasury in January. Washington had said that Setad "has a stake in nearly every sector of the Iranian economy, including energy, telecommunications, and financial services."
Raisi, who won a June 18 election marked by record abstention, takes over from moderate Hassan Rouhani ...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man... On Thursday, Raisi took the oath of office before parliament, to which he must present a list of ministers within two weeks.
A former judiciary chief, Raisi has been criticised by the West for his human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... record and sanctioned by the US since 2019.
Raisi also picked Gholamhossein Esmaili, the judiciary's front man during his tenure, as his chief of staff.
A former prosecutor, Esmaili is under sanctions by the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... He was first blacklisted in 2011 as Iran's prisons' organization chief over "serious human rights violations".
Raisi's presidency is due to consolidate power in the hands of conservatives following their 2020 parliamentary election victory, which was marked by the disqualification of thousands of reformist or moderate candidates.
Also on Sunday, ultraconservative MP and 2021 presidential candidate Alireza Zakani was elected as mayor of Tehran, state news agency IRNA reported.
He won the majority of conservative-dominated city council votes, but he cannot take over before resigning from the parliament, it said.
He succeeds Pirouz Hanachi, a veteran public servant with a background in urban development seen as close to the reformist camp.
Zakani has served in parliament between 2004 and 2016, and won a seat again last year.
A doctor in nuclear medicine, aged 55, he dropped out of the June presidential race in favour of Raisi.
[HOTAIR] The state of Illinois is facing a looming energy crisis almost entirely of its own making, but despite having options on the table to avert it, the state appears ready to simply let the situation continue to implode. Thanks to state policies intended to end all energy production using fossil fuels, energy producers are increasingly struggling to remain viable. This is particularly true of the state’s nuclear power plants, run by energy company Commonwealth Edison, a subsidiary of Exelon. They have been unable to compete with the cheaper natural gas-fired plants in the state and are facing a potential bankruptcy situation. Governor J.B. Pillsbury Pritzker has proposed a plan to have the state provide significant subsidies to Exelon to keep the plants afloat, but the state legislature has remained focused on not passing any sort of energy bill that isn’t based almost entirely on carbon reduction and renewable energy. As a result, Exelon recently submitted plans to close two of their nuke plants.
Meanwhile, ...back at the dirigible, the pilot and the copilot had both hit the silk. Jack! Cynthia exclaimed. Do you know how to drive one of these things? Continued on Page 49

Renewables will cost a bit more but it must be done. Hike the property and sales taxes a bit to cover the additional costs. If that isn't sufficient, the county roads can become tolls, and the existing tolls can be hiked. If that still won't carry it, those that lies in cemeteries paying nothing can be levied an annual fee. They pay nothing now. Then there is pets and farm animals....such as still exist.
Use your heads people! As long as you have people to tax, you'll still survive.

Been there (part of the 'Eagles Nest Colony'). Blackhawk stands a bit downriver and closer to Oregon, though.
He'd probably still say "F* ConEd", though.

Don't worry, be happy! The Greens and Anti-Fracking Luddites will soon make those uneconomical as well as we slouch towards a new Dark Age.
[IsraelTimes] Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs President Dore Gold signs a memorandum of understanding with Bahrain’s undersecretary for international relations, Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmad al Khalifa.
During a ceremony at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, Gold stresses that the research cooperation will help Israel and Bahrain counter Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. "Our cooperation can become a central factor in winning that war," he says.
[IsraelTimes] Bahrain’s Undersecretary for International Relations Abdullah bin Ahmad al Khalifa says during a visit to Israel that Bahrain hoped that the 2015 Iran nuclear deal would change Tehran’s behavior in the region, but instead it has brought about “more crises and violence.”
"Was there any good result that we have come out with? For us, we haven’t seen it. On the contrary. The JCPOA has fueled crises across the Middle East," Khalifa says during the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the countries in Jerusalem, referring to the nuclear deal by the acronym of its official name.
He adds that the deal "has caused more instigation and extremism in many different regions across the Middle East."
He also indicates that Bahrain blames Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Medya Feizullah, an award-winning bodybuilder and mother of six, died in a Sulaimani hospital on Saturday after being shot by an unknown gunman — suspected to be linked to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. (ISIS) - in Kirkuk two weeks ago.
Feizullah, 42, and her husband Mohammed Shamsaddin, are both bodybuilders living in the Kurdistan neighbourhood of Kirkuk. She was at home with her four daughters when an unknown gunman attacked them in the evening of July 27.
Their nine-year-old daughter Helin told Rudaw that her father and two brothers were out of the house at the time of the attack.
"He saw that there were no men in our house. He returned with his pistol. My mother was screaming in the front yard. She believed he might be a terrorist, thinking he had come to attack all the houses. Later, she learned that he had come only to us," she said, saying her mother was shot "several times."
Feizullah was first hospitalized for six days at the Azadi hospital in Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... before being sent to Sulaimani in a critical condition. A friend of Shamsaddin said she was shot nine times.
"We were at the gym with Shamsaddin and his sons about 10 pm. He received a call about what happened, and when we arrived at his house, the children were really frightened and nervous. His wife and daughter were already taken to the hospital. One man had carried out the attack," the friend, who prefers to remain anonymous, told Rudaw English on Sunday.
Brig. Gen. Kawa Hassan, Shamsaddin's stepbrother and Kirkuk’s former intelligence chief, believes that the perpetrator is an ISIS member who wanted to avenge the killing of five members of a Kirkuk sleeper cell last year.
A house owned by Shamsaddin in Kirkuk’s Dibis district was used as part of the operation to kill the ISIS members, he said.
"ISIS members are definitely responsible for the attack. I have 100 percent proof that they were spying on my brother at night so that they could kill him at home. When they came to his home, he was not there. They shot his wife instead. We know they are from outside the Dibis area. They have a lot of sleeper cells in Kirkuk," said Hassan.
Shamsaddin called on security forces in Kirkuk to find the perpetrators.
"I urge the security forces to find the murderer as quickly as possible. It is their duty to do so. What a shame to open fire at a woman and her daughters at home at 10 pm. What kind of coward would do this?" he said.
Security forces are still investigating the murder.

[SEATTLETIMES] Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes conceded on Friday, as he fell further behind his two primary opponents in an election that will bring an end to his 12 years in office.
The result will leave Seattle with a clear-cut choice in November between a law-and-order candidate and an abolitionist who wants to halt most misdemeanor prosecutions.
"After two decades of public service to Seattle — the last 12 as your City Attorney — it’s time to acknowledge that my opponents will be advancing to the general election," Holmes said in a prepared statement. "While defeat is difficult to accept, it’s inconsequential compared to the collective pain we’ve suffered as a City throughout this pandemic."
Holmes was in third place after Friday’s vote tallies, with 31% of the vote. He trailed challengers Nicole Thomas-Kennedy,
...the abolitionist...
who had 35%, and Ann Davison,
...who therefore must be the law and order candidate...
who had 33%.
And while thousands of ballots remained uncounted, the trendlines offered no reason to believe the results would swing Holmes’ way.
Holmes was in second place, leading Thomas-Kennedy by about 550 votes on election night, but Thomas-Kennedy has gained every day since, taking the lead for the first time Friday, as later-arriving ballots continue to be processed, counted and released. Davison led on election night and now leads Holmes, for second place, by 3,141 votes. The two candidates with the most votes advance to the Nov. 2 general election.

[FOXNEWS] Videos from Portland showed a crowd of demonstrators violent mostly peacefully shut down an event where Christians gathered to pray on the waterfront — before another clash Saturday afternoon involved Antifa ...the armed wing of the Democratic Party... scists and alleged Proud Boys members throwing projectiles at each other on a city street.
Police officers did not intervene in either confrontation — besides a squad car sounding its siren just feet away.
The first instance of violence happened Saturday at an open-air event planned at Tom McCall Waterfront Park near the Battleship Oregon Memorial to be hosted by Artur Pawlowski, a traveling preacher who’s been arrested in Canada for holding in-person worship services in violation of coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... restrictions. Several Antifa Twitter accounts tweeted about the planned event, the Post Millennial reported, and videos posted online showed that a crowd of demonstrators dressed in black bloc attire showed up at the waterfront to confront worshippers.
Dozens of people carrying black umbrellas and shields are seen spraying red and yellow gas at the group of worshippers, as other Antifa members steal sound equipment, lawn chairs and wagons left across the lawn by families who had come to listen to the pastor speak.
"All Cops are B*******, in the name of Jesus," a male’s voice is heard saying during the melee.
Children, including toddlers, were in attendance at the worship event when the group of Antifa demonstrators began throwing projectiles, including eggs, one woman told a videographer at the scene.
"They threw a flash bomb into a group of kids who were out there," she said.
A male worshipper said a pastor had walked up to ask the group of demonstrators to stop -- but he was pepper sprayed. The woman is seen attending the pastor’s eyes covered by an orange substance.
The Portland Tribune reported that members of the far-right group, Proud Boys, later descended on the worship event and clashed with the Antifa members. Additional video circulated online by independent journalist Andy Ngo shows the festivities carried onto a nearby city street, and the alleged Proud Boys members, seen dressed in yellow and black garb, fired a paint ball gun at several Antifa members.
A squad car for the Portland Police Bureau pulls up and flashes its siren — but seemingly had no impact in stopping the confrontation. A man is heard yelling at the officer behind the wheel, "Do your job."
Once the groups converged at the waterfront, a fight broke out but the confrontation there was "over prior to any police response," Portland Police Bureau front man Derek Carmon told KOIN. "As the groups left, there was a report of another small fight that was over prior to police response. No arrests were made and no one came forward to report any crimes that we are aware of."
"Police had no interaction with either group today," Carmon added.
Screenshots shared by Ngo showed that another Antifa-affiliated Twitter account later tweeted that members threw the sound equipment into the Willamette River and stole sandwiches and water bottles belonging to the Christian group — before then giving them back out to the homeless.

Not just attempted murder NN2N1, but actual murder as Antifa executed Aaron Danielson in a coordinated hit in August of last year. Way past time for all to understand what the ROEs are in Dem run cities. The rules vary but the one constant is that they are designed to make all of us targets of opportunity.

[Ted Starnes] There is growing concern among Tennesseans after Gov. Bill Lee quietly issued an Executive Order on Friday giving the state permission to call up the National Guard and State Guard “in connection with certain health care and emergency services operations.”
Tennessee Stands, an influential statewide conservative coalition, said they found some of the governor’s orders “exceptionally concerning.”
One section of Executive Order 83 would permit the construction of “temporary quarantine and isolation facilities.”
“Telephone assessments for involuntary commitment cases are permitted,” the executive order also states.

...The 'betters' have no understanding how it all works. No one is old enough to grasp that Central Planning didn't work and Adam Smith's invisible hand of the marketplace is superior. The system is so complex and intertwined that decrees and orders cause the entire system to implode.

[FoxNews] The 183-foot long tunnel was about 22 feet underground.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents uncovered an extensive tunnel connecting Mexico to California that may have served as part of a massive drug trafficking operation.
Homeland Security Investigations, a sub-division of ICE, discovered the 183-foot long tunnel in Mexicali, Baja California, around 22 feet underground near the international border. Working with Mexican authorities, HIS San Diego Task Force agents determined that a drug trafficking organization dug the tunnel.
"These types of tunnels enable drug traffickers to conduct illicit activities virtually undetected across the U.S.–Mexico border," said Cardell T. Morant, special agent in charge of HSI San Diego. "Discovering and shutting down these tunnels deals a major blow to drug trafficking organizations because it denies them the ability to smuggle drugs, weapons and people across the border."
The tunnel’s entrance is about three feet north of the border wall but has no exit on the U.S. side of the border, the agency said in a press release.

With the dems Open Border policy, the tunnels have become redundant. I recommend they be re-purposed as nuclear waste storage sites.
#3
The tunnel is incomplete, there is no exit.
The tunnel probably needed to go another couple hundred feet north to a safe house in the populated urban border trade town of El Centro surrounded by Imperial Valley agricultural lands.
In late January 2021 all of a sudden all digging stopped in the tunnel when the incoming president relaxed all immigration laws and coyotes turned to immigrants as pack mules.
Nothing but cob webs in the tunnel now.
Inside baseball, but useful background for those interested in deeper connections.
[Garowe] A family deal on importation of Khat from Æthiopia and mistrust may have significantly contributed to outgoing President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo's plot to block Prime Minister Mohammed Hussein Roble's trip to Nairobi.
Roble, who took over in October 2020, is scheduled to visit Nairobi on Tuesday just weeks after Somalia restored its relationship with Kenya after months of showdown. Already, the advance team of Roble in Nairobi to prepare for the visit, but sources have confirmed that Farmaajo is against the trip.
On Sunday, Kenya's Foreign Affairs Minister Raychelle Omamo arrived in Mogadishu and she's expected to hold talks with Farmaajo and Roble. But her trip comes just hours after the Somali leader issued a decree the temporarily suspends the signing of international cooperations until elections are concluded.
In Somalia, Omamo is set to focus on pushing for the lifting of the ban imposed on Khat from Kenya, something which Roble was set to discuss once he arrives in Nairobi. Kenya was the main exporter of Khat to Somalia but her fortunes were overturned, forcing Nairobi to also suspend direct flights to Mogadishu.
Details obtained by Garowe Online had established that the ban on Kenya's Khat was imposed to pave way for Farmaajo's family business after they signed a deal with Æthiopia. Æthiopia was given exclusive rights to export Khat to Somalia.
Farmaajo and associates currently control the multi-million dollar khat business now run by the Æthiopians after Villa Somalia mandarins locked out Kenya in March 2020 in the guise of COVID-19 restrictions. Kenya was locked out of the deal.
Over time, Farmaajo has built a strong relationship with embattled Æthiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrea ...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age... President Isaias Afwerki. The two Horn of Africa leaders have wanting human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... records.
For months now, Æthiopia has been exporting Khat to Somalia, with Farmaajo's family said to be the main beneficiary. Kenya has been struggling to unlock the ban, at times forced to suspend direct flights to Somalia as a retaliation.
Before Obama's arrival, Kenya had initially sent powerful Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Chief Administrative Secretary Ababu Namwamba to negotiate over the Khat trade ban. It's not clear if Omamo will succeed in her trip since Somalia is in active agreement with Æthiopia and Farmaajo has since suspended the signing of trade desks.
"Trade agreements with other countries have been suspended during the country’s elections," the decree released Saturday night read in part, in what could affect efforts by Kenya and to some extent, Roble, in the restoration of the trade ties.
Ambassador Omamo is expected to deliver an invite to Roble today in her visit to Mogadishu. This follows a brief encounter between Roble and President Uhuru Kenyatta June during which time the Kenyan leader extended an invite to the Somali PM.
Despite opposition by Farmaajo in Roble's planned visit to Nairobi, multiple sources have confirmed that the PM will proceed with the trip. Roble, who was recently elevated to take charge of elections, has appeared as a moderate leader who trusts in dialogue, something which may have irked his boss.
The decision by the federal government of Somalia to impose a ban on Kenyan Khat was not only business motivated but also politically engineered due to diverse interests from Farmaajo's family.
While banning Khat which has adverse socio-economic and health consequences effects on many other aspects of life, the government continued to import the Æthiopian Khat, further showing the personal interests.
