Bipartisan legislators demand answers from Fauci on 'cruel' puppy experiments
[The Hill] A bipartisan letter demands answers from the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and President Biden's chief medical adviser.

The White Coat Waste Project, the nonprofit organization that first pointed out that U.S. taxpayers were being used to fund the controversial Wuhan Institute of Virology, have now turned its sights on Anthony Fauci on another animal-testing-related matter — infecting dozens of beagles with disease-causing parasites to test an experimental drug on them.

House members, most of whom are Republicans, want Fauci to explain himself in response to allegations brought on by the White Coat Waste Project that involve drugging puppies.

According to the White Coat Waste Project, the Food and Drug Administration does not require drugs to be tested on dogs, so the group is asking why the need for such testing.

White Coat Waste claims that 44 beagle puppies were used in a Tunisia, North Africa, laboratory, and some of the dogs had their vocal cords removed, allegedly so scientists could work without incessant barking.

Leading the effort is Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), writing a letter to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) saying the cordectomies are "cruel" and a "reprehensible misuse of taxpayer funds."

"Our investigators show that Fauci’s NIH division shipped part of a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagles and lock their heads in mesh cages filled with hungry sand flies so that the insects could eat them alive," White Coat Waste told Changing America. "They also locked beagles alone in cages in the desert overnight for nine consecutive nights to use them as bait to attract infectious sand flies."

With A Record 79 Container Ships Waiting Off The SoCal Coast, A Scary Supply-Chain Solution Emerges
[ZeroHedge] In which Zero Hedge waves around an excessive number of increasingly technical graphs in an effort to inform us that things will get worse before they get better.

#1  About the Zero Hedge piece: No mention of alternative ports beyond Los Angeles — like Governor Ron DeSantis pushing the availability of Florida’s — but we should be grateful for energy shortages in China limiting factory output even as we worry about empty store shelves resulting from reduced off-loading. Those interested in logistics and the stock market should find it more interesting.

#2  BLUF: Which leaves us with the painful conclusion: if we want a return to the previous supply-chain equilibrium, the system needs to do more than just ramp up supply: it also needs to squash demand or the wild gyrations will continue.

"Squash demand?" Auhhh yes, price increases.

So far at least, I have absolutely no need for any of that stuff. What exactly is it in those containers that we absolutely CANNOT live without ?

What is it in those containers that we cannot produce in this country or Canada ?

#4  The underlying issue here is that in any functioning system, when you increase efficiency and reduce waste, you also remove the ability to react to problems.
Efficient workflow, waste control, redundant backups: choose any two.

#5  The move to Just in Time logistics and point of sale demand cues at the point of manufacture are key to reduce the sunk cost of inventory awaiting demand in the intermediate warehouses of days gone by. Now, the price swipe at the checkout is the manufacture cue at Campbell's soup for another case of tomato soup. No capital tied up in the middle. Works great when the delivery system is directly at the other end of a well maintained highway/rail network a few hundred miles away, and the entire system is run by fellow citizens and people who want it to work. Change that dynamic to add a huge ocean, the point of manufacture run by people whose motives may well be other than friendly or politically congruent, and voila. Now add domestic over regulation by clueless Marxist fools like California, and this only gets worse. 30+ years of public policy by know-nothing political hacks has brought you this mess, and every solution this current crop of morons will offer involves more government sclerosis in the system, not less...

Worldcoin Offers Free Crypto To Scan Your Eyeballs
[ZeroHedge] What's the best way to build a biometric database? Well, you can steal fingerprints, faces, irises, and voice scans of millions of Americans, like US intelligence agencies, have done, or you can go the more ethical route and give people free cryptocurrency for their unique biometric data.

Texas Border County Government Coalition Forms to Demand More Help from Austin
[Breitbart] The local governments of Kinney County, Uvalde County, and the City of Uvalde joined to form a commission to help residents negatively impacted by the ongoing border crisis. The local coalition is authorized under Section 391 of the Texas Local Government Code. At the first meeting, commission members demanded action and answers of representatives from the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM).

Assistant Chief Tony Pena and District Coordinator Fernando Perez with TDEM sat quietly as members of the newly formed 391 Border Coalition voiced frustration with issues caused by the influx of migrants into Kinney and Uvalde Counties. The members asked the TDEM to work toward better communication with local governments and provide more support as they deal with the influx.

Henry Garcia, Kinney County EMS Coordinator, says the influx robbed residents of emergency services on some occasions. Garcia says in a normal year during hunting seasons, his department usually treats three rattlesnake victims. This year, 14 migrants were treated for bites, sometimes requiring transfer to San Antonio for critical care.

Garcia says his EMS technicians are providing emergency care to 9 of every 15 migrants arrested in his county. “We aren’t transporting that many, most are treated on the scene for respiratory issues and dehydration, but we still have to respond,” he said.

Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe told the TDEM his department needed more personnel and equipment. Coe is asking from more Texas State Highway Patrolmen and funding to replace antiquated radio systems.

Coe says his county is prosecuting hundreds of migrants per month for criminal trespass and believes the area needs boosted detention facilities. He says area ranchers are sustaining continuous damages to fences which negatively impacts cattle companies.

Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin told the TDEM the region needs refrigerated facilities to hold deceased migrants. “I can’t send local decedents from our community to San Antonio because our facilities are full–that is unacceptable,” McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin told the TDEM his community dispatched all six available ambulances on one occasion to treat migrants in need of care at the local rail yard. That left residents with impaired emergency response capabilities for most of the day. McLaughlin says local schools have been locked down 48 times this year due to high-speed pursuits and migrants fleeing law enforcement in his city.

McLaughlin said local law enforcement is dealing with armed smugglers and migrants with convictions including murder and sex offenses. “When the Haitian crisis was going on, the border leading to our city was wide open, there appears to be no end in sight, we need help and answers,” he explained.

Kinney County Attorney Brent Smith told the TDEM they are doing all Governor Greg Abbott has asked of local authorities. “We have prosecuted 800 criminal cases in one month when our average is 10 during normal times,” he said. “We’re doing it, but it is hurting us at the same time.”

Kinney County Judge Tully Shahan says the commission is worried about the “Human Tsunami” that is probably on its way.

TDEM Assistant Chief Pena explained to the commission he shares their concerns and that other areas within the state are experiencing similar difficulties.

PHOTOS: Texas National Guard Blocks Border Crossing as Wall Construction Continues
[Breitbart] Texas Army National Guard troops and equipment deployed by Governor Greg Abbott moved in to block a portion of the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass, Texas. The troops began arriving on Friday and positioned themselves along a one-mile stretch of the river near the downtown area of the city.

The troops are stationed in Humvee vehicles carefully placed along the riverbank to serve as a deterrent to illegal crossings near the city. Nearly 30 vehicles are parked less than 150 feet from each other facing Mexico. Border Patrol agents in the area tell Breitbart Texas that more troops were scheduled to arrive later in the day.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the area surrounding the ports of entry in Eagle Pass are known as high traffic areas for illegal crossings and are problematic for the Border Patrol due to the proximity to private residences in the city. Although many migrants choose to surrender hoping for quick release into the United States, many others, usually single adults, attempt to elude apprehension. Deterring migrants from crossing in the area prevents a quick escape into the populated areas within the city.

Governor Abbott utilized a similar tactic during the Haitian migrant crisis in Del Rio in September. Texas Highway Patrol troopers strategically placed vehicles along the river bank to prevent additional migrants from reaching the camp near a common crossing point in the area.

A short distance away, construction crews are working to build Abbott’s border wall where the guard troops’ blockade ends. For two miles, the Texas border wall will stand 18’ tall and stretch along one of the busiest migrant crossing areas in Eagle Pass. A source involved in the construction tells Breitbart the project is progressing quickly. The source expects a state delegation to visit the construction site soon to observe the progress firsthand.

The National Guard deployment is part of Governor Abbott’s Operation Lone Star that has been in effect since March. The operation involves the deployment of more than 1,000 Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Troopers and 2,500 Texas Army National Guard soldiers to the border region across the state.

As of October 7, the operation has resulted in 6,799 criminal arrests, 1,195 migrant prosecution cases for criminal trespass, and more than 71,000 migrant apprehensions. The highway patrol has been involved in more than 800 pursuits since the inception of the operation.

Recent Operational Activities of note include:

  • On October 5 in Jeff Davis County a traffic stop yielded six firearms, ammunition, several magazines, cocaine, THC, and $5,600 in cash. A migrant in the vehicle was referred to U.S. Border Patrol.

  • On Oct. 5 in Hidalgo County, Special Agents and Troopers seized 218 pounds of cocaine.

  • On Oct. 6, a vehicle pursuit in Edwards County involved the female driver and passenger live streaming it on Facebook. The pursuit ended when a tire deflation device was deployed, and the vehicle crashed. Five migrants in the vehicle were injured. Law enforcement found a handgun in the vehicle, as well as a small quantity of marijuana.

  • On Oct. 11 the Texas Army National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers collaborated in spotting and monitoring seven armed men in body armor on the Mexico side of the Rio Grande River near Starr County.

1) I may post a story too close to end of day (unless breaking news) and delete my own comment. posting the story for next day;
2) I may regret my own comment (more often) and spamcop it.
3) Multiple stories/repetitive links are submitted on same news (very often) and TW or other diligent UNPAID FUCKING MODS miss attribution in necklacing them

I would respectfully submit: we are doing the best we can (I retired, then unretired for an aggressively-scheduled project of a Stadium/site). If you base your self-esteem on who gets credit on a breaking story - you will be disappointed. Give us a break, OK?

Fire breaks out on ZIM container ship off the coast of Canada
[Jpost] 40 containers of mining chemicals had fallen overboard, posing a significant risk to mariners.

A fire broke out on Saturday on containers on a cargo ship carrying mining chemicals off British Columbia, and the Canadian Coast Guard said it is working with the US Coast Guard to assess the situation, including environmental hazards.

Sixteen crew members have been evacuated from the MV Zim Kingston, while five remained onboard to fight the fire, the Canadian Coast Guard said in a statement on Saturday.

"No injuries were reported," Danaos Shipping Co, the company that manages the container ship, said in a statement to Reuters on Sunday.

The fire "appears to have been contained," and a salvage and fire extinguishing agency have been roped in to ensure the safe return of the vessel's crew, Danaos said.

Britain
Battalion of bankers will wage 'economic war' on jihadis and rogue states including China and Russia in a secretive taskforce
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • An army of City execs will join a secret taskforce to protect British financial infrastructures

  • It is being commandeered to wage economic warfare against China and Russia

  • The taskforce is already working with Special Forces and intelligence agencies

An army of City executives is being commandeered to wage economic warfare against China and Russia.

The battalion of bankers will join a secretive taskforce focusing on protecting British financial infrastructures from foreign attack.

They will also target international revenue streams for terror groups, Russian billionaires with links to president Vladimir Putin and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is believed to fund Middle Eastern terror groups.

The taskforce, mainly made up of reservists with City experience, is already working with Special Forces, intelligence agencies and the Army’s 77th Brigade, which specialises in online operations.

The unit is expanding after being used to shut down Islamic State’s financial support networks – a crucial part of the campaign to remove jihadis from Iraq and Syria.

The unit’s present activities are classified but are understood to involve targeting Kremlin-linked militias such as the Wagner group which is seeking to control mineral resources in Africa and threatening pro-Western governments.

Financial technology is also an area of growing importance with crypto-currencies used to support terrorist activities and militant groups such as the Taliban.

Tom Keatinge, of the Royal United Services Institute think-tank, said the UK avoided pressuring these areas ‘when we’re trying to negotiate with the Taliban but, if you need to, you can come down on them like a hammer and put them out of business.’

When IS jihadis captured huge swathes of Iraq and Syria, including oil reserves, in 2014 it was the richest terrorist organisation in the world.

But gradually the financial infrastructure which protected its ‘caliphate’ was undermined by a sophisticated intelligence-gathering operation by the UK and the US.

Eventually key revenue streams were identified and shut down. IS money ran out and it was prevented from procuring products such as chemical additives needed to turn crude oil into fuel for vehicles.

IS fundraising via the Iraqi central bank was also targeted, but such operations required a high degree of financial expertise not readily available in mainstream military units.

Facebook services were used to spread religious hatred in India and may have inflamed 2020 riots in Delhi that left 53 dead, internal documents leaked by whistleblower Frances Haugen claim
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • Reports from Facebook researchers warned that the social media company was fueling divisions between India's Hindu majority and Muslim minorities

  • Interviews with users revealed that they were worried about the amount of anti-Muslim posts on the site and feared that violence may erupt

  • While researchers recommended Facebook take down several Hindu nationalists groups, the company allegedly ignored the requests

  • They said Facebook's inaction could be linked the 2020 religious riots in Delhi

  • Researchers were told it was over 'political sensitivity' as the groups were linked to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

  • They were told going after one of the groups could infuriate Modi and put Facebook's business prospects and staff in danger

Second Amendment win: Ohio Senate votes to ban gun seizures during emergencies
[Just The News] The Ohio Senate has solidified gun rights, limited government power in an emergency and clarified knives are included in the right to bear arms.

Senate Bill 185, which passed 23-7, stops the state or local governments from confiscating any lawfully owned gun during a declared emergency. Sen. Tim Schaffer, R-Lancaster, said it protects Ohioans’ right to protect themselves and does not add any new gun rights.

"This legislation will protect the rights of Ohioans to their firearms recognizing their natural right to self-defense, as well as to feed their families during times of declared emergencies," Schaffer said.

State governments around the country shut down businesses and established stay-at-home orders during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some states also limited gun sales. Ohio did not limit gun sales.

Schaffer said 24 other states, including Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia, have similar laws.

"This bill is critical to proactively define the limits of government power to limit their abuses," Schaffer said.

The Ohio Municipal League testified against the bill, saying it removes home rule, and Sen. Sen. Cecil Thomas, D-Avondale, said it removes local government authority.

"This bill is sort of like a Christmas tree wish list regarding removing the municipal legislative powers," Thomas said. "In doing that, you’re creating an environment where local control has really no authority to manage the process. It’s basically denying the local government the ability to protect their local community as they deem appropriate."

IDF, police foil gun, drug smuggling operation; Hezbollah involvement suspected
[IsraelTimes] 2 pistols and 9kg of hashish worth $110,000 seized near northern border, believed to have been brought into Israel from Lebanon.

Israeli security forces on Saturday said they thwarted an operation to smuggle drugs and weapons from Leb
...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. ...
, potentially on behalf of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

Israel Police and Israel Defense Forces said two pistols and 21 packages containing around 9 kg of hashish with a value of around NIS 350,000 (approximately $109,000) were seized in the operation.

The IDF said that suspects were observed close to the northern border town of Metula, at which point troops were dispatched to the scene where they seized the contraband.

Police said they opened an investigation into the incident. There were no reports of arrests.

"The possibility that the [smuggling] attempt was made with the help of the terrorist organization Hezbollah is being examined," the IDF said in a statement.

Hezbollah has long maintained control over the area adjacent to the border with Israel and is unlikely to be unaware of smuggling operations. The terror group is known to fund its activities through drug sales around the world, including producing large amounts of hashish in eastern Lebanon.

In June, the IDF said it arrested an Arab Israeli father and son suspected of smuggling a large amount of hashish and firearms into Israel from Lebanon, also potentially on behalf of Hezbollah. The suspects were found in possession of 15 handguns, dozens of ammunition magazines and some 36 kilograms (80 pounds) of hashish. In total, the IDF said the contraband was worth roughly NIS 2 million ($616,000).

Though most illegal firearms in Israel are used for criminal purposes, not necessarily for terrorism, Israeli security services believed that at least some of the pistols from the June haul were meant to be used in terror attacks orchestrated by Hezbollah. Israeli officials refused to elaborate on how they reached this conclusion.

Israel disputes US claim it wasn’t told of plan to outlaw rights groups
[IsraelTimes] Defense official says US was given intel showing ties between PFLP terror group and Paleostinian NGOs, doubles down on the allegation — but refuses to release evidence to public.

An Israeli defense official on Saturday disputed American claims that the United States was not informed of a highly contentious decision by Jerusalem to label six Paleostinian rights organizations as terror groups, insisting Washington had been told in advance.

"Officials in the American administration were updated in advance of the intention to make this declaration and they received intelligence information about the matter," the defense official said, speaking on condition of anonymity

Former Mossad deputy denies detainees in Turkey are Israeli spies

The chairman of the powerful Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Saturday said none of the 15 men arrested in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

MK Ram Ben-Barak, a former deputy director of the Mossad intelligence agency, also suggested the Ottoman Turkish government is eager to show its intelligence "achievements," resulting in the occasional publication of false information.

"None of the published names were [of] Israeli spies and therefore, it should be put in proportion," he told Channel 12.

Caribbean-Latin America
Colombia captures its most wanted drug lord 'Otoniel'
[DW] Dairo Antonio Usuga was captured in a jungle raid involving 500 police personnel and 22 helicopters. President Ivan Duque compared it to the fall of Pablo Escobar.

Colombian authorities said on Saturday they captured Dairo Antonio Usuga, the country's biggest narco.

Usuga, better known by his alias "Otoniel," is the alleged leader of the violent mostly peaceful Clan Del Golfo cartel, which had control of major cocaine smuggling routes through thick jungles.

COMPARED TO CAPTURE OF ESCOBAR
Colombia's President Ivan Duque compared Saturday's arrest to the fall of Pablo Escobar, the Colombian drug lord killed in a police shootout in 1993.

"This the hardest blow... to drug trafficking this century in our country," Duque said.

"Alias Otoniel was the most feared drug lord in the world, a murderer of police, soldiers, local activists," he added.

The arrest was "the biggest penetration of the jungle ever seen in the military history of our country," Duque said.

Duque urged other members of the cartel to turn themselves in or "feel the full weight of the law."

Usuga stands accused of various crimes, including drug trafficking, murder, extortion, kidnapping, conspiracy and illegal recruiting of minors. He was on the US Drug Enforcement Administration's most wanted list.

The US State Department had offered up to $5 million (€4.29 million) for information leading to his arrest or conviction in 2009. US and British authorities were also informed about the details of the arrest.

WHO IS 'OTONIEL' USUGA?
The 50-year-old was born in Necocli and was the seventh of nine children to a rural family. At age 18, he joined a Marxist guerilla group that was later disbanded.

In the 90s, he aligned himself with the Peasant Self-Defenders of Cordoba and Uraba (ACCU), which worked to protect farmers against guerillas, and was also linked to drug trafficking. Some of these paramilitary groups then became the Gulf clan.

Usuga took over the leadership of the clan from his brother, who was killed by the police in 2012.

He evaded arrest for many years. During this operation, about 500 coppers and 22 helicopters were deployed.

India-Pakistan
Terrorist incidents declined after Centre revoked special status in J&K: Amit Shah
[OneIndia] On his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday defended the Centre's decision saying that it has led to a decline in terrorist incidents and ended stone-pelting.

The Centre revoked the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh -- on August 5, 2019.

On the curfew imposed in J&K after the abrogation of Article 370, Shah said it was like a "bitter pill" that helped save many lives. Shah said that only the youth of J&K can take it forward on the path of peace and development. No change is possible without the involvement of the youth.

"From 2004-14, 2,081 people were killed -- 208 every year (on average). From 2014 till now, 30 people have been killed on an average per year. Terrorism has decreased. Stone-pelting is invisible and I want to assure you that we will deal sternly with those who want to disrupt peace in J&K. It is our commitment that no one will be able to stop the journey of development," Shah said.

The youth of J&K have to support it. This opportunity that you have, the development that you see... Today, 45,000 youths are saying that they have got an opportunity," he added. Shah said the curfew imposed in the wake of revocation of Article 370 was a "small hardship" for a long-term benefit. Had the curfew not been imposed, many parents would have attended the funeral of their sons.

"Who was saved because of the curfew or internet blockade? The youth of Kashmir. Today, the situation is under control and internet is on and there is no curfew," he said. Shah noted that the first condition for development is peace.

"About 40,000 people, including civilians and security forces, have bit the dust. Do we have to stop this or not? Are terrorism and development possible together? Can it happen? No, it can never happen," he said.

About 70 per cent of the population in Kashmir is below the age of 35.

Shah said during his interaction with members of youth clubs, he recalled that about two-and-a-half years back, news about incidents of stone-pelting, terrorism and violence, used to come from Kashmir. "...but now, in the same Kashmir, youths are talking about development, skill upgradation, employment and scholarships for their education.

province, where it has launched frequent attacks targeting the Taliban.

A local hospital official said two bodies and four maimed civilians were transferred to the hospital after the attack. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

Recently, IS has shown signs of expansion in Afghanistan, with attacks in the north, the south and the capital of Kabul. The group's ability to launch frequent attacks has cast doubt over the Taliban's ability to maintain security and stability in the embattled country.

Last week, IS grabbed credit for a deadly suicide kaboom on a Shiite mosque in southern Afghanistan that killed 47 people and maimed scores more. It was the deadliest since the dramatic U.S. exit from the country, which allowed the Taliban to seize control of the Afghan capital.

Potato prices in Russia will decrease - forecast
Direct Translation via Google Translate. edited.
[REGNUM] The cost of potatoes in Russia has stabilized. This was announced on October 20 by the chairman of the Potato Union Sergei Lupekhin at a press conference in Moscow, a REGNUM correspondent reports .

"An anomalous incident occurred in September - prices for potatoes were going up, although they should have decreased." the expert said.

According to Lupekhin, now the situation has stabilized and in the near future we should expect a decrease in prices for root crops.

"Prices are now stabilizing and will gradually begin to decline. It's the same with root vegetables. I'm not talking about retail prices, but about wholesale ones. The trend is generally positive," said Lupekhin.

Russian general: "My troops get a 2200 calorie battle ration every day in the field."

American general: "That's pathetic. All our boys get access to 3200 calories a day in battlefield conditions."

Russian general: "That's impossible. No man can eat that many potatoes."

#6  No. See the traditional Irish diet. Dairy products have always been what Irish cuisine and diet are known for . . . Best cream and butter to be found anywhere, and tons of it. Milk, sour cream, even a protein milkshake-like product.

The other staple has always been oats, followed by barley.

Add beef and pork, along with some fish, some vegetables such as cabbage, greens, leeks, carrots, and you have the basic elements of a very healthy diet.

All of these were avaialable in large quantities before the potato arrived.

As with all famines, the devastation that occurred in 1847-48 was essentially a political phenomenon caused by idiotic decisions of Her Majesty's ministers. Hint: Britain was EXPORTING grain during the Famine.

#7  ^Thank you for that information. An Irish history not well known to myself. I recalled history taught in High School years ago. Needed an update. Thank you. Norway information was from a related local there. He was a teacher. History taught in other countries has always interested me.

#8  The arrival of the potato supported a population boom in Ireland, if I understand correctly, so before potatoes, those people could not have existed. Potatoes plus dairy equals a complete protein, and the potato skin contains loads of vitamins and minerals.

The potato blight fungus is found all over the world, with different potato varieties having differing resistance to it. The cause of the famine was that the Irish planted only a single variety, which all succumbed at once.

And then the English overlords were unhelpful.

#9  An interesting proposition: potato blight from color blindness.

"There was an interesting problem that confused some people for a while many years ago.

A survey of school children in Scotland indicated that a larger than normal percentage of Catholic children had an uncommon type of color blindness.

The obvious question was: What does being Catholic have to do with being color blind? A quick check of statistics from other countries indicated normal percentages for Catholics in other countries. That indicated that it was being Scot and Catholic.

Somebody quickly realized that most Catholics in Scotland were descendants of Irish immigrants. A check of statistics in Ireland indicated that this type of color blindness was extremely rare in Ireland and also rarer than usual among Irish in countries other than Scotland. In spite of the statistics, the phenomenon had to be due to being Irish. Strange?

Then the light dawned in somebody's mind. People with this form of color blindness could not tell the difference between blighted potatoes and normal potatoes. Such people used blighted potatoes as seed for next year's crop, resulting in a disastrous crop the next year. These were the first Irish to emigrate from Ireland due to the famine caused by the potato blight. Most of them went to Scotland, the most convenient country (England & Ireland were at odds even then).

That first wave of Irish emigrants mostly went to Scotland and included almost all of those with this type of color blindness. This resulted in its being rarer than usual in Ireland, and higher than usual among Irish in Scotland. Later waves of Irish emigrants (without color blindness) went to the US and various countries other than Scotland, which already had more than its desired share of Irish."

International-UN-NGOs
W.H.O. Vows ‘Profound Transformation' After Mass Sexual Abuse of Ebola Victims
A risky choice: Ebola has been found in the semen of some male survivors, so it seems reasonable to assume survivor females could transmit the disease s3xually as well.
[Breitbart] The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) announced plans on Thursday for a “profound transformation” of its “culture” in the wake of the agency’s latest sexual abuse scandal in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.R.C.), U.N. News reported.
It’s not just a problem in WHO, but pretty much all the major international aid NGOs, and too many of the minors. They’ve been getting caught as long as I can remember.
“The suffering of survivors of sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated by World Health Organization staff during the tenth Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (D.R.C.) is going to be ‘the catalyst for a profound transformation’ of W.H.O.’s culture,” W.H.O. Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on October 21.

Tedros referred to several incidents of alleged “sexual abuse and exploitation (S.E.A.)” perpetrated against locals by at least 21 W.H.O. staff members in the D.R.C.’s North Kivu and Ituri regions from August 2018 to June 2020. The W.H.O. appointed an independent commission to investigate the allegations of S.E.A. The commission published its initial findings on September 28 in a damning report that detailed “multiple allegations of rape and offers of employment in exchange for sex,” Tedros acknowledged on October 21.
“Vestra culpa. Vestra maxima culpa.”
Several alleged victims told the commission’s investigators they became pregnant after being raped by male W.H.O. workers. Some further alleged that their perpetrators then forced them to undergo abortions.

Biden administration propose to resettle over 55 thousand Afghan refugees
[KhaamaPress] The US administration in an unprecedented decision wants to permanently resettle 55,600 Afghan evacuees from the military bases of the US to permanent houses.

Taking this number of Afghans from military bases and bringing them to permanent houses is the biggest change to the resettlement program since 1980.

Tens of thousands of Afghans who have worked for and on behalf of the US in Afghanistan, are now living in refugee camps established in military bases in the United States.

The Joe Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft
...the pack of self-imagined masterminds of strategy and intrigue at the service of the Biden Crime Family and a grateful nation...
has decided to launch a program that will allow veterans and others with ties to Afghans, to financially support and resettle them in their cities as they start a new life in the US.

As per the new initiative, a group of five who are over 18 can apply for so-called being sponsors of the Afghan family who will financially support Afghan families for 90 days, complete their training, and develop a plan for the family.

If the proposal is approved, the group will be responsible for securing housing, supporting refugees accessing benefits that are available to them through the federal government, like medical services, and helping enroll children in school, among other responsibilities.

The sponsors can also temporarily house the Afghan families in their houses.

So that's about 1 terror plot per year for every 1,000 Muslims you bring into the country -- or some 55 terror plots against Americans on American soil that we can expect next year from Biden's unvetted Afghans.

This is beyond criminal negligence. Impeach this asshole.

Organized migrant caravan moves toward US, surging past Mexican forces
[FoxNews] A massive and organized migrant caravan is on its way from southern Mexico toward the U.S., and has already surged past a blockade by Mexican forces attempting to stop it from getting to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Organizers tell Fox News that there are more than 2,000 migrants colonists in the caravan, setting off from Tapachula, Mexico — some carrying American flags and signs with President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S., father of Hunter. He blames Trump for losing Afghanistan.......
’s name. Tapachula is in the south of the country on the border with Guatemala.

The caravan is not merely a group of migrants colonists congregating together, organizers made migrants colonists who wished to participate in the caravan to register with a QR code on their phones or a web link to participate.

Within hours, the flood of migrants colonists encountered a wall of Mexican interior police wearing protective gear and wielding shields. But the security did not hold, as migrants colonists forced their way through the blockade and continued on their way to try and seek entry into the U.S. interior.
An act of war, if someone wants to get technical about it.
Customs and Border Protection announced Friday that there had been more than 1.7 million migrant encounters in Fiscal Year 2021, breaking records. Additionally, there were more than 192,000 encounters in September alone — a slight decrease from the more than 200,000 encountered in July and August, but a sign that the border crisis that has dogged the Biden administration (aka the Wilmington comorra)
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
is far from over. The administration also had to deal with a massive Haitian migrant surge in September, and fears that more surges could be on the way.

A catastrophic situation in Afghanistan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFrontInfo] The situation in Afghanistan is catastrophic: the absence of a legitimate and inclusive government, functioning mechanisms of state power, systematic violation of human rights, said the Minister of Defense of Tajikistan.

"A catastrophic situation is developing in Afghanistan: the absence of a legitimate and inclusive government, functioning mechanisms of state power, systematic violation of human rights. These factors have brought Afghanistan to the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe, contribute to its further transformation into a hotbed of international terrorism, which poses a serious threat to security and stability in the region," the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan said.

He also added that the recent events related to the withdrawal of the international coalition troops from the territory of Afghanistan, and the inability of the government forces to independently ensure control over the entire territory of the country gave an impetus to a surge in terrorist activity and, as a result, led to the degradation of military-political forces.

Islamic Emirate Reacts to Newly-Formed 'Resistance Council'
[ToloNews] A number of officials of the former government along with mujahideen leaders recently announced the formation of a new political movement called the "High Council of National Resistance® of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan," which sparked reactions from the Islamic Emirate.

Abdulrab Rasul Sayyaf
...old Northern Alliance warlord with many versions of his name in the archives and elsewhere...
a Jihadi leader, and Atta Mohammad Noor, leader of the splinter faction of Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
, announced on Facebook the formation of a new political movement, saying it consists of a number of political mainstream groups in the country.

The new movement in a statement insisted on reaching an agreement with the Islamic Emirate via dialogue, but it warned that if the Islamic Emirate does not talk with them, they will take up weapons.

Islamic Emirate front man Zabihullah Mujahid, reacting to the new movement, said no one can threaten the people of Afghanistan in the name of resistance or anything else.

"No longer is there a need for making fronts. Anyone who establishes a front will not gain good results," he said.

"It would be better for the Islamic Emirate to pave the way for all its political opponents to come inside the country and share their views," said Sayed Ishaq Gailani, leader of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan.

The new council was formed under the leadership of Sayyaf, although it is not known in which countries the members of the council are living.

Captured drone footage show Ukrainians using NGO vehicle to transport heavy mortar
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Rusvesna] Footage from a downed drone of the Ukrainian 25th Airborne Brigade showed the installation of a 120-mm mortar by Ukrainian soldiers, from which they subsequently hit the village of Vasilyevka near Donetsk.
Vasilyevka is the village of Trudovskay Mine, west of Donetsk city
The video appeared in the Donbass telegram channels and raises a number of questions. Namely, one circumstance attracted attention to it: next to the mortar there is a white ZIL with the symbols of Ukrainian representatives in the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire (JCCC).

VGTRK reporter Andrei Rudenko, who has covered the hottest events in Donbass since 2014, named the main question in his author's Telegram channel.

Video from the shot a downed UAV.
Strange video footage taken from this aircraft. During the ascent, the UAV recorded (on the territory controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine) a vehicle of the JCCC of Ukraine and a mortar of the Kiev military was standing nearby.

This begs one question: what is the JCCC of Ukraine doing next to the mortar crew? Or is it their mortar? Or what is it? I would like answers!" writes Rudenko.

However, the answer has been there for a long time and this information was also voiced more than once.

The video is proof that the Kiev militants are using vehicles with the JCCC logo for the unhindered delivery of weapons and ammunition to the front line. This has been repeatedly stated by the defense departments of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

The militants use the vehicles of the observation mission to conduct shelling in the LPNR, whose tasks include monitoring the observance of the ceasefire regime. According to the agreements, these white cars are not fired upon. But at the same time, they successfully help the militants with impunity to strike at the civilian population of Donbass, as confirmed by footage from the lost UAV.

As the authors of the Svarschiki telegram channel emphasize, "Ukraine has completely discredited the activities of the JCCC: first, the abduction of an observer from the LPR, now there are shelling using their vehicles."

Says Lt Colonel Eduard Basurin:
"The People's Militia has repeatedly stated that the Ukrainian command uses white ZIL-131 vehicles with the JCCC logo not only to carry out an observation mission, but also to directly support combat missions," Basurin said.

"The video clip presented to your attention clearly shows that the militants of the 25th Airborne Assault Brigade are unloading a 120 mm mortar and ammunition from a white ZIL car. Symbols of Ukrainian observers are discernible on the car."

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Ivan Muzika

[LB] Ukraine has harvested a record harvest of buckwheat in recent years

Ukrainian farmers have already threshed 107,000 tons of buckwheat with a total forecast of 100,000 tons. Moreover, this figure is 94%, as only 15 oblasts have completed the harvest.

This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko.

"This year is rich in records for harvesting crops. We have the largest harvest of buckwheat in the last few years.

Two months ago, our forecasts were at the level of 100 thousand tons. And today, being on the finish line, but not yet crossed, farmers threshed 107 thousand tons of buckwheat. This figure is 94 percent, as only 15 oblasts have completed the harvest. Therefore, our updated forecasts are over 110 thousand tons.

The highest yield is currently recorded in Vinnytsia oblast, 1,509 kilograms per hectare," the press service quoted Leshchenko as saying. Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine .

The Minister added that thanks to the program of state support for buckwheat production, farmers receive subsidies of up to UAH 5,000 per hectare of arable land where buckwheat was grown. This program was launched by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy this year.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine had a record harvest of early grain crops: 44.8 million tons

Afghanistan
ISIL claims responsibility for detonating power pylon in northern Kabul
[KhaamaPress] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in Iraq and the Levant officially grabbed credit for detonating a power pylon that cut the main power line to Kabul and left the Afghan capital in complete darkness since Thursday.

In a statement released on the Telegram channel, the group said that the soldiers of the caliphate detonated a bomb on an electricity pylon in Kabul, to damage the electricity sector.

The power pylon exploded in the northern Shakardara district of Kabul that cut Kabul’s and other provinces’ electricity that is yet to be reconnected.

Sources have told Khaama Press that the power to be reconnected by the Saturday evening, October 23.

Afghanistan’s ministry of interior affairs on the other hand said that they have arrested three people accused of detonating the power pylon but did not say if the people were ISIS fighters.

Afghanistan’s electricity sector is largely dependent upon imported power as the country imports 80% of its electricity from Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Detonating power pylons, especially in the north of Kabul is not a new story, the pylons would be detonating during the previous government that inflicted millions of Afghani financial loss to DABS- de Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Electricity body of Afghanistan).

Talib govt denials: no Al Qaeda, no opium, no Shiites evicted
UNODC Warns Against Insurgents' Use of Drug Trade

[ToloNews] The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) said that following the recent developments in Afghanistan, some murderous Moslem groups are likely to try to take advantage of the situation and exploit illicit narcotics.

UNODC executive director Ghada Waly said opium production and smuggling by murderous Moslem groups should be prevented in Afghanistan.

"Terrorist and criminal groups are likely to take advantage of any new opportunities to exploit illicit narcotics, particularly as the situation in Afghanistan develops. Afghanistan already accounted for 85% of the world’s opium production in 2020. In light of recent events, there is an urgent need to prevent illicit flows and exploitative crimes, to stop the country from becoming a haven for holy warriors and their resources, and to address expected spillover in neighboring countries," she said in a meeting of Commission on Narcotics Drug in Viana.

UNODC activities in Afghanistan have been halted since August 15.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had escaped from his bonds and overwhelmed his guard using the bludgeon the faithful Filomena had smuggled to him in the loaf of bread...
the Ministry of Interior Affairs said that the cultivation and smuggling of narcotic drugs has reached zero in Afghanistan.

Saeed Khosti, front man of the Ministry of Interior said: "We have carried out operations in the capital and provinces where we have arrested drug smugglers. The Islamic Emirate is committed to not allowing the cultivation of drugs in Afghanistan and its smuggling to other countries."

Analysts said opium production and smuggling could increase if it is not fought effectively. "It is a fact that if we don’t fight against this phenomenon, poverty, misery and the situation in Afghanistan will increase the cultivation of narcotics, and our country will still be among those countries where cultivation has a high percentage," said Mohammad Khan Andar, an international relations analyst.

In the meantime, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has also raised concerns over "the current and evolving money laundering and terrorist financing risk environment in the country."

FATF has said Afghanistan should not become a territory where hard boyz find shelter or training camps or plan to finance terrorist activities.

Islamic Emirate Denies Al-Qaeda Presence in Afghanistan

[ToloNews] The Islamic Emirate denied claims by the former US peace envoy who voiced concerns over the presence of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

The US veteran diplomat, Zalmay Khalilzad, made the remarks in an interview with CBS.

"The reports that I have seen indicate that (leader of al-Qaeda) could be in Afghanistan or adjacent territory, I don’t know whether the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
knows it or not," he said.

He also said that the US was monitoring the commitments of the Islamic Emirate regarding terrorism.

"As I said, a lack of trust between us and them, that is why it is very important not take their word ... in terms of what they say or what they commit to, that is why we are saying that it has to be over the horizon, monitoring of commitment on terrorism," he added.

But the deputy minister of information and culture Zabiullah Mujahid denied Khalilzad’s remarks.

"No, I don’t see such a danger; someone like that does not exist here and we haven’t received the information on such a level," he said.

The cutting of ties between the Islamic Emirate and al-Qaeda was one of the main factors in the talks between the US and the Taliban in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
Khalilzad, who recently stepped down from his position as the US special envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation brokered a deal with the Islamic Emirate on February 29, 2020, which also included the withdrawal of foreign troops as a condition.

MoI Rejects HRW Reports of Shia Evictions

[ToloNews] Human Rights Watch (HRW) has reported that Taliban officials in several provinces across Afghanistan have forcibly displaced residents, especially the Hazara
...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...
Shia communities, a claim rejected by the Islamic Emirate.

According to the report, Taliban officials have distributed displaced residents’ lands to their own supporters.

The report says many of these evictions have targeted Hazara Shia communities as well as people associated with the former government.

"The Taliban are forcibly evicting Hazaras and others on the basis of ethnicity or political opinion to reward Taliban supporters," said Patricia Gossman, associate Asia director at Human Rights Watch. "These evictions, carried out with threats of force and without any legal process, are serious abuses that amount to collective punishment."

Officials from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday called the report baseless and said if HRW has any proof, it should reveal it.

"This is not true. Our request from the media and human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
organizations is that if you find such cases, document them. We will be responsive," said, Saeed Khosti, front man for the Ministry of Interior.

Previously HRW published reports about human rights abuses, but all of them have been rejected by the Islamic Emirate.

Heavy mortar fire wounds two Ukrainian soldiers in Lugansk
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Natalka Lototska

[LB] Since the morning of Saturday, October 23, three violations of the ceasefire have been recorded by the Russian occupation forces in the combat zone in Donbas.

The enemy used weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

Not far from Novozvanovka, the occupiers fired 120mm mortars.
Novozvanovka is in northern Lugansk
In the direction of Novohryhorivka, the mercenaries fired twice, using an anti-tank missile system, grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns and other small arms.
Novohryhorivka is just north of Debaltsevo
As a result of hostile actions, two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded. The soldiers were given home medical care and evacuated to a medical facility. The state of health of both is satisfactory.

"Our defenders opened fire in response to force the enemy to cease shelling without using weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements," the statement said.

We will remind, during Friday, October 22 in a zone of hostilities in Donbass occupiers violated a ceasefire 13 times, twice using the weapon forbidden by the Minsk agreements . As a result of enemy shelling, one Allied serviceman was wounded and another was wounded in action.

The infantry would send him maps with requests on the back of the maps for supporting fire from his artillery, mortars, 50 caliber machine guns. Along side those requests was a list of current KIA, MIA, and wounded in action of US troops in the area the map covered.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Film crew voiced complaints before Alec Baldwin's fatal on-set shooting
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Alec Baldwin fatally shot a cinematographer on a New Mexico film set with a gun a crew member had assured the actor was safe, a tragic mistake that came hours after some workers walked off the job to protest conditions and production issues. An assistant director, Dave Halls, grabbed a prop gun off a cart at a desert movie ranch and handed it to Baldwin during a Thursday rehearsal for the Western film "Rust," according to court records made public Friday.

"Cold gun," Halls yelled, declaring the weapon didn’t carry live rounds and was ready to fire.

But it wasn't. When Baldwin pulled the trigger, he unwittingly killed 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and maimed director Joel Souza, who was standing behind her inside a wooden, chapel-like building.

A 911 call that alerted authorities to the shooting at the Bonanza Creek Ranch outside Santa Fe hints at the panic on the movie set, as detailed in a recording released by the Santa Fe County Regional Emergency Communications Center.

"We had two people accidentally shot on a move set by a prop gun, we need help immediately," script supervisor Mamie Mitchell told an emergency dispatcher. "We were rehearsing and it went off, and I ran out, we all ran out."

The dispatcher asked if the gun was loaded with a real bullet.

"I cannot tell you. We have two injuries," Mitchell replied. "And this (expletive) AD (assistant director) that yelled at me at lunch, asking about revisions....He’s supposed to check the guns. He's responsible for what happens on the set."

Halls did not immediately return phone and email messages seeking comment. The News Agency that Dare Not be Named was unable to contact Hannah Gutierrez, the film's armorer, and several messages sent to production companies affiliated with "Rust" did not receive responses Friday.

The gun Baldwin used was one of three that Gutierrez had set on a cart outside the building where a scene was being rehearsed, according to the court records. Halls grabbed the firearm from the cart and brought it inside to the actor, unaware that it was loaded with live rounds, a detective wrote in a search warrant application.

It was unclear how many rounds were fired. Gutierrez removed a shell casing from the gun after the shooting, and she turned the weapon over to police when they arrived, the court records say.

Guns used in making movies are sometimes real weapons that can fire either bullets or blanks, which are gunpowder charges that produce a flash and a bang but no dangerous projectile.

Enes Kanter Speaks Truth To Chinese Power
Hat tip to Powerline. Read more at the link.
Enes Kanter of the Boston Celtics is a hero. He stood up to the thuggish, repressive regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his native Turkey. His criticism of Erdogan probably put him in physical danger. Kanter fled Indonesia where he was holding a basketball camp for children, after his manager told him Turkish intelligence agents had been sent to capture him.

Now, Kanter has taken on the mother of all thuggish, repressive regimes — Red China. He released a powerful video (see below) lambasting the Red Chinese regime for its unconscionable treatment of Tibet.

In the two-minute video, Kanter documents China’s reign of "cultural genocide" against Tibet. He calls out Chinese president Xi Jinping, labeling him, correctly, a "brutal dictator."

He does this while wearing a T-shirt featuring an image of the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader. And he notes that any Tibetan who owns a picture of the Delai Lama faces arrest for that act alone.

Kanter went further. He appeared for Boston’s game against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday wearing brightly colored shoes saying "Free Tibet." But Kanter didn’t take the court in that game. He was an un-used reserved in the Celtics’ overtime loss.

The Chinese government’s reaction to Kanter’s video was as swift as it was predictable. The Chinese video-streaming giant Tencent cut the live broadcast of the game between the Celtics and the Knicks. According to the Washington Post, the Tencent Sports app notes that upcoming Celtics games will not be broadcast live. Instead, unlike other NBA games, they will be reported by text and photo — if even that, when the dust settles.

The question now is how the NBA will respond. When Daryl Morey, a team executive, voiced support for freedom in Hong Kong, the NBA kowtowed to Red China. Morey, presumably under pressure, said it was not his intention to offend anyone. The NBA’s enormous Chinese revenue stream was saved.

Alleged Turkish Mossad spy describes unwitting recruitment, training in Zurich
[IsraelTimes] A Ottoman Turkish man allegedly working for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency has reportedly described how he was recruited and taken to Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
where he was unwittingly trained by Israeli spies on how to encrypt and transfer files.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
’s Sabah daily reported on Thursday that 15 men who allegedly spied for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency were arrested by authorities earlier this month.

Sabah, which is close to Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
, on Friday carried an interview with one of the detainees, whom it identified only by his initials M.A.S.

There has been no official confirmation from Turkey on the arrests and it was not clear how the paper interviewed the man if he had been arrested.

"I met face to face with a Mossad official. He taught me to encrypt files on the laptop," M.A.S. told Sabah.

The man, who has a company that provided consulting services to students coming from abroad to Istanbul, told the paper that he was tasked with monitoring Paleostinians in Turkey. He said he had first been approached by a man claiming to represent an Arab person based in Germany who was interested in studying in Turkey.

The man was initially sent hundreds of euros for providing information on how Paleostinian students entered Ottoman Turkish universities and what kind of support they received from Ottoman Turkish authorities.

He also later claimed to have provided the client with details on a Paleostinian non-governmental organization working in Turkey.

He said he received some $10,000 in exchange for providing information over three years; some of the money was sent via Western Union, and some he was given in an Istanbul market by showing his ID and a receipt.

During this time he was brought to Switzerland to meet with his alleged handlers, receiving a visa sponsored by an organization called the "European Student Guidance Center."

During his all-expenses-paid visit, he met with two separate men, including one who taught him how to encrypt Word files on Protonmail, an email service with end-to-end encryption. Further contact between the two was made through Protonmail, the paper said.

M.A.S. said that during a second visit to Zurich, he met the two men again and another man named "John." After becoming suspicious and asking them if they were intelligence agents, they told him they worked for "an intelligence-like organization with the duty of doing research for EU institutions."

It was not clear when he came to the conclusion that he had been recruited by the Mossad.

At least 12 people were killed in central Somalia as pro-government forces recaptured a strategic town from Sufi militants
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

At least 12 people were killed on Saturday in central Somalia as pro-government forces recaptured a strategic town from Sufi murderous Moslems seeking greater regional control, security officials and witnesses said.

Fighters loyal to Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaa (ASWJ)
...a moderate Muslim Sufi paramilitary supported by Ethiopia that’s been fighting jihadi groups since the early 1990s. Al Shabaab is only their most recent opponent. From time to time ASWJ and the Somali National Army take opposite sides in local political disagreements...
were driven out of Guricel by national forces and paramilitaries in Galmudug
...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth...
, a region that has long faced an armed struggle by the Sufi militia.

"We have so far confirmed that 12 people, four of them civilians, were killed during heavy fighting in Guricel this morning," Mohammed Bile, a military commander in Galmudug, told AFP by phone.

"That toll could rise, but the situation is now calm and government forces are in control of most neighborhoods."

ASWJ fighters occupied Guricel earlier this month, taking control of Galmudug's second-largest town after a brief skirmish with local forces.

The Sufi group has controlled many of the major cities in Galmudug over the past decade, and efforts to broker a military and political settlement to their feud with regional authorities have not succeeded.

Galmudug information minister Ahmed Shire blamed ASWJ for provoking the latest festivities.

"Government forces kept their positions for a month, and called on the invading parties to vacate the town peacefully, to avoid armed confrontation and inflicting civilian casualties," he told news hounds.

"Unfortunately, they attacked military bases belonging to government forces, who fiercely repelled their advance. The government has taken back control of their positions, and driven the remnants of the militia into the bush."

Witnesses reported seeing casualties on both sides.

"There is still sporadic gunfire in pockets of town, but I can see military vehicles belonging to the national government in the streets," said Abdirahman Ali, a local resident.

The Sufi group's recent military advances in Galmudug coincide with upper house elections in the region, which is the last of Somalia's five federal member states to complete the long-overdue process.

Elections in Somalia follow a complex indirect model, whereby state legislatures and clan delegates pick politicians for the upper and lower houses of parliament, who in turn choose the president.

The presidential election is nearly a year overdue, the process dogged by political infighting at the highest level of government, and feuds between Mogadishu and some states.

#1  The Secret to the Northern Mozambique Insurgency’s Success, November 2, 2020
This commentary was originally published in War on the Rocks on October 8, 2020. This has been a banner year for Ahlu-Sunnah Wa-Jama (ASWJ)—or al-Shabaab [!!], as locals call it—operating in northern Mozambique. Between January and September, the insurgent group launched an estimated 357 attacks, which is double the attacks it conducted during the same period last year.
Note: This ASWJ is a very curioous outfit. Most Sufi (especially in the Mahgrib) are peaceable folk who just want to practice their religion. The fact that in Mozambique it has been called Al Shabsab may be close to the truth.

#3  Sufis have from time to time been as keen on the jihad of the sword as the non-mystic varieties of Islam. Andrew Bostum wrote an informative piece on the subject back in 2005, which sadly is halfway to link rot now. In summary, when Sufis ruled, in Turkey and elsewhere, they were just as violently expansionist, and just as fond of mistreating the unbelievers in their midst, as non-mystic versions of Sunni and Shiite Islam.

[Rudaw] Kurdish filmmaker Halkawt Mustafa is bringing to the screen the story of the man who hid Iraq’s former dictator. The story is being told for the first time, 18 years after Saddam Hussein was found hiding in a hole in Salahaddin province.

"This movie tells the story of someone who had been everything to Saddam; it talks about his private life with him. This man had been Saddam’s driver, guard, barber, doctor and friend," Mustafa told Rudaw.

Alaa Namiq, 50, hid Hussein for 235 days in a bunker he dug in his garden in Ad-Dawr town before the Americans found him there in 2003.

Mustafa says convincing Namiq to participate in the movie was not easy and he offered him two options, "either not say anything or talk about everything without a filter."

Making the movie was full of challenges and took 10 years. Mustafa said he had to keep his work secret, even the camera operators and people living where he was filming didn’t know what the documentary was about. The secrecy was to protect the safety and privacy of the main character, who is sought by Iraqi and international media.

Mustafa said the story of the bunker had always intrigued him. "It was unbelievable that a man could be hidden like that for eight months in a hole." He found Namiq in early 2010, "through a politician."

They first spoke on the phone in 2010 and met in person in 2013. It took a year for Mustafa to convince Namiq to agree to talk and another three for him to go into details of his life when he was hiding Hussein.

The director refused to reveal the locations where the film was shot, but noted most of the places are real, except for a few scenes that were shot in sites designed to look like the real location.

Mustafa was born in 1985 in Sulaimani city. He is famous for his award-winning 2015 movie El Clasico about two Kurdish brothers who set out on a journey by cycle of violence from the Kurdistan Region to Spain to meet their football hero, Cristiano Ronaldo, and give him a pair of handmade Kurdish shoes known as klash. His two other prominent works are Red Heart and The Women ISIS Fears.

The film, Hiding Saddam Hussein, is produced by the Norwegian Hene Film company and funded by the government of Norway. It is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2022. Rudaw Media Network has exclusive rights to the film in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

"I enjoyed making this film, and the questions I had in my mind, I found the answers through this documentary film," said Mustafa. He believes people will enjoy "seeing an untold story."

Africa Subsaharan
Dozens break out of jail in southwest Nigeria
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Gunmen have attacked a prison in southwest Nigeria, freeing dozens of inmates, an official told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named on Saturday.

The third jailbreak in Africa’s most populous country this year raises more concerns about how safe detention facilities are in the West African nation where authorities have struggled to stem rising violence. A handful of security facilities, especially cop shoppes, have been attacked in a similar manner in the past year.

Olanrewaju Anjorin, a front man of the Oyo correctional center in Oyo state, told the AP that the button men attacked the facility late Friday night and an investigation into the incident which will reveal the extent of damage has begun.

"I can’t ascertain the number of people that escaped or that were recaptured but I am telling you that the security has been beefed up around the custodial center and the town," he told AP in a phone interview.

Francis Enobore of the Nigerian Prisons Service also confirmed the incident and said he was on his way to the attacked facility.

Friday’s attack is the third this year in Nigeria, where jailbreaks are becoming more frequent and police only capture a fraction of those who escape. Lagos-based online newspaper TheCable reported in July this year that at least 4,307 inmates had beat feet from prisons since 2017, based on compiled media reports.

In 2021 alone, more than 2,000 inmates were freed in two earlier jailbreaks: on Sept. 13 when 240 inmates were freed after button men attacked a detention facility in north-central Kogi state with explosives and on April 5 when at least 1,800 were freed in the southeast Imo state when another facility was also blown up.

Most of the recent jailbreaks in Nigeria seem not to be connected although the attacks are carried out in a similar manner with the use of explosives.

Authorities have managed to rearrest some escaped inmates, sometimes in neighboring states, while others return willingly.

A good number of those who have escaped in such attacks are yet to be convicted and still awaiting trial. Nigerian prisons hold 70,000 inmates but only about 20,000, or 27 percent, have been convicted, according to government data.
Deutsche Welle adds:
During the attack more than 800 inmates were freed.

Its understood more than 200 escapees had been rearrested.

Around 575 prisoners who had been awaiting trial have been reported as missing while 262 had been recaptured.

"While all the awaiting trial detainees were forced out of custody, the cells housing the convicts and the female inmates were not vandalised," the prison service said in a statement.

Europe
Greek island on front line of Europe's migrant route builds dedicated 'prison camp' ringed with razor wire - is it cruel or the only way to curb traffickers
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • On Greek island of Samos a migrant camp is guarded by police and razor fence

  • Each migrant is vetted to ensure they are not a terrorist posing as a refugee

  • The Home Secretary has visited the camp and hopes to bring regime to Britain
The camp is divided into colour-coded zones: Afghans (blue), Africans (red) and Arabs (green) all separated to stop fights between the factions who accuse each other of racism and use fists or worse to solve differences. Migrants can leave the camp only if they use their fingerprints to pass through steel-turnstile checkpoints so that the camp authorities know where they are at all times.

They are counted in at night and each migrant has been vetted to ensure they are not a terrorist trying to slip in posing as a refugee, or posing any other security threat.

And it is a regime that could be coming to Britain soon. ‘This is the model of migrant camp that England hopes to copy.

'Your Home Secretary Priti Patel has come here to see it for herself,’ says Demitrius Axiotis, the 56-year-old former Greek army officer who runs what is called the closed control access centre on Samos.

‘In three or four months we will have 3,000 migrants living here and we will be full. We are expecting Afghans fleeing the Taliban to arrive very soon on the traffickers’ boats from Turkey to Samos. They will be brought here and treated just the same as all the others.’

This week the Daily Mail was the first British newspaper to visit the controversial camp, built out of the desperate need to stem the migrant flow from Turkey where four million wait to illegally enter Greece. The European Union has erected an important-looking sign outside the formidable structure that makes clear this is no holiday camp. Over the next year, more Greek islands in the east Aegean will also open ‘closed’ camps, with the EU footing the £200 million bill.

On Samos, the camp was born of necessity. Until this summer, 9,000 migrants had the run of the island. They lived in a rat-infested shanty village without lights, hot water or sanitation right beside Samos’s capital, until it was bulldozed and most of the inhabitants sent to Athens.

Mr Axiotis says for years there were more migrants in Samos’s main town than its 6,000 residents. ‘That was not right,’ he explains. ‘It was not fair on Samos people and we had to think about their safety. Greece is a devoutly Christian country and the islanders worried the boats coming to the island were carrying strangers.’

So could this Greek island’s authoritarian style of camp really be a possible solution for England’s own migrant crisis? The answer, it seems, could be yes. At least 20,000 migrants are expected to have arrived by boat to our south coast from France by the end of 2021. Most already here are in hotels paid for by the taxpayer. It is a situation that cannot go on forever, which is why the Home Secretary came here in August to meet Mr Axiotis at the Samos camp.

It was then six weeks away from opening but Ms Patel looked at the floor plans, toured the site under construction and was told of the ultra-secure deportation wing, to be finished by Christmas, for incarcerating inmates rejected for asylum in Europe and with no right to stay.

According to Mr Axiotis, she heard how the Greek coastguard is also pushing back migrants at sea towards Turkey, a contentious policy about to be introduced by the British in the Channel using Border Force jet ski teams to nudge boats back towards northern France. The Home Office believes Samos-style camps on British soil will make the UK less alluring and reduce illegal Channel crossings.

For who would want to end up living in a camp like it? The story peddled by people-smuggling gangs to drum up their trade is that England is a soft touch, a land of milk and honey where migrants are instantly housed in four-star accommodation or a council house with no questions asked.

‘Camps like Samos would make Britain a safer place for everyone, including the genuine asylum seekers who deserve our help,’ Home Office sources have told us.

A Nationality and Borders Bill is currently going through Parliament, with the same aim of helping real refugees and weeding out the rest. It is understood that if it gets approval next year, the new camps will be high on the agenda soon afterwards.

In Samos, we talked to migrants about what they thought of camp life. Most were put there because they have repeatedly been refused asylum in Greece. They are mightily displeased that they have been stopped from journeying onwards to Germany, Scandinavia, the Netherlands or, favourite of all, England.

In hut 126 in the Arab zone, we found an Iraqi Kurd family of four who, until it was pulled down in September, lived in the squalid Samos jungle camp for five years. Now they are in a two-bedroom hut with a kitchen, bathroom and never-ending hot water from the camp’s solar power system. But they are not happy with their lot.

If the camp’s deportation wing was open, there’s no doubt this family would be under lock and key inside it. Their asylum claim has been turned down by Greece four times and they should, under EU rules, be sent back to Turkey from where they first entered Europe. Turkey, however, says it is overwhelmed with migrants and can’t take more. It is also at loggerheads with Athens because it claims Greece is pushing back asylum-seekers to Turkey using brutal tactics at sea and on land which endanger the lives of women and children.

Europe
Sixty Percent Of French Voters Believe In The Great Replacement
[FreeWestMedia] A recent survey revealed that "more than six French out of 10 believe that the phenomenon of the Great Replacement will happen".

Eric Zemmour and members of the National Rally see this survey as a confirmation of their notions on immigration. With a sample of more than 2000 people registered on the electoral rolls, the polling institute Harris interactive for Challenges asked about the possibility of a "Great Replacement" occurring in France.

It was described in this study as being the phenomenon of "European, white and Christian populations [...] threatened with extinction following Muslim immigration, from the Maghreb and black Africa". Among those who expressed an opinion on this question, according to this poll, 61 percent of them believe that it would happen.

At the same time, 67 percent of those polled said they were "worried [...] about such a phenomenon". Among the defenders of this theory, Eric Zemmour is one of the leading media figures. "The ideas that I espouse are now central in French society", he noted on Twitter.

The MEP of the National Rally (RN), Jean-Lin Lacapelle, quipped in these terms: "The ’Great Replacement’ is a fantasy for a large part of the political class, but a reality and a concern for a large majority of French people. [...] Act or disappear!"

Another RN MEP, Nicolas Bay, also stated on Twitter that "the ’Great Replacement’ is a reality experienced and suffered by many French people, and a legitimate concern for the majority of them". The theory was developed by the writer Renaud Camus. Generally denounced as conspiratorial and racist by its detractors, this theory asserts that the French and European population would be gradually replaced by an extra-European immigrant population.

US nears deal to use Pakistan's airspace to conduct operations in Afghanistan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The US is nearing a formal agreement with Pakistain to use its airspace to conduct military and intelligence operations in Afghanistan, CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
reported on Saturday.

Pakistain reportedly expressed a desire to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the US in exchange for assistance with its own counterterrorism efforts and help in managing its relationship with India, sources told CNN.

The report comes as the US scrambles to ensure it can conduct counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan against ISIS and other terrorist groups, after the US withdrew its forces from Afghanistan in August, ending more than 20 years of American presence in the country.

The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
have threatened the US last month with "negative consequence" if Washington did not stop flying drones over Afghanistan.

Since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan on August 15, ISIS has ramped up its attacks in the country, targeting Taliban members and Afghan citizens with several bombings.

The Taliban has tried to downplay the threat of ISIS, claiming it wasn’t a major danger. The group also refused to cooperate with the US to contain bully boy groups in Afghanistan.

The US believes that terrorist groups can easily reconstitute in Afghanistan under Taliban rules and is concerned the country will become a terrorism haven and a launching pad for international attacks.

The US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Mark Milley said in September there is a "real possibility" that al-Qaeda or ISIS could reconstitute in Afghanistan under Taliban rule within the next six to 36 months.

Members of thwarted terror cell are linked to PA security forces — report
[IsraelTimes] Two suspected snuffies with ties to the Paleostinian Authority are said to have planned an attack against Israelis as part of an Islamic Jihad

Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
plot

Two members of a terrorist cell linked to the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad group, arrested in Jericho recently on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, are affiliated with the Paleostinian Authority, according to a Channel 12 news report which aired Thursday night.

The report, which did not cite a source, said one of the two is a senior PA security official.

The pair were named as Majed Abu-Shakar, a captain in the PA’s National Security Forces, and Jasser Dwikat, a Fatah member whose father is a major general in the PA security forces. A third suspect was arrested inside Israel, the report said.

The members of the cell had purchased weapons and were planning an attack against Israelis in the West Bank or inside Israel, according to the report. They were recruited and being instructed by a Paleostinian Islamic Jihad operative, named by the TV network as Izzat al-Aktash.

Five of the six Paleostinian security prisoners who criminal masterminded a successful jailbreak from Israel’s Gilboa Prison last month — before being recaptured — are Islamic Jihad members, and several terrorist attacks and attempted attacks were carried out in the days and weeks following the incident.

IAEA warns of North Korea scenario in Middle East if Iran's nuclear diplomacy fails
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] UN atomic watchdog chief Rafael Grossi warned on Saturday that should nuclear diplomacy fail with Iran, the Middle East may find itself facing a scenario similar to that of North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) agents were kicked out of North Korea in 2009 and now the country is believed to have dozens of nuclear weapons.

IAEA Director General said in an interview with NBC News: "The case of [North Korea] should remind us of what may happen if diplomatic efforts go wrong."

"It’s a clear example, it’s an indication, it’s a beacon. If diplomacy fails, you may be confronted with a situation that would have enormous political impact in the Middle East and beyond," Grossi added.

The IAEA’s monitoring program in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
is "no longer intact" after Tehran refused to repair cameras at nuclear facilities, Grossi said, adding that the UN watchdog might be unable to "reconstruct the picture" of what the Iranians are doing.

Iran said in September it refused to give the IAEA access to surveillance cameras at Iranian nuclear facilities.

Grossi also stressed that he has been unable to establish direct communication with the Iranian government since Ebrahim Raisi became president in June.

Experts believe Raisi has been stacking the deck by appointing hardliner government officials to pressure the US into making concessions that favor Tehran in the talks over reviving the abandoned 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

Talks to revive the nuclear accord which former US President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
withdrew from in 2018 have stalled under Raisi and Washington has repeatedly expressed that its patience was wearing thin and threatened an ambiguous "Plan B" should diplomacy fail.
