The Rise and Fall of Hydroxychloroquine for the Treatment and Prevention of COVID-19
[PMC] - The efficacy and safety of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 has received great attention, and most notably, the enthusiasm for HCQ has been one of politicization rather than science. Laboratory studies and case series published early in the pandemic supported its efficacy. The scientific community raced to conduct observational and randomized evaluations of the drug in all stages of the disease, including prophylaxis, early treatment, and advanced disease. Yet a divisive media response affected recruitment, funding, and subsequent enthusiasm for continuing scientific investigations.
Not just the media has been divisive. All those politicians, and the science professionals who have supported them, shouting about “settled science” will one day have a place in science textbooks next to Piltdown Man and Trofim Lysenko.
Of the more than 300 HCQ trials registered, fewer than 50% report having recruited any patients, and most trials might fail to achieve any useful portions of their intended sample size. Multiple observational studies and two large randomized trials have demonstrated HCQ does not offer efficacy against COVID-19 in hospitalized patients.
As expected. HCQ was originally presented as part of a treatment protocol to be used as a prophylactic upon exposure and immediately upon the onset of symptoms to reduce the progress of the disease so that hospitalization would not become needed. HCQ is one of several ionophores that pull zinc ions into the cell, where the zinc inhibits reproduction of RNA viruses like Covid-19. The original treatment package included HCQ, zinc, azithromycin for its anti-inflammatory effect, and vitamins D and C which strengthen the immune system. Aspirin was later added to reduce the formation of damaging tiny blood clots. Once the immune response has progressed to the point of cytokine storm, the actual infection no longer matters.
Prophylaxis studies and early treatment studies provided heterogeneous results and are plagued by low event rates and poor study outcome monitoring. Emerging high-quality evaluations of prophylaxis and early treatment do not support a role for HCQ in these populations.
“Emerging”? That sounds like a premature conclusion.
The story of HCQ for COVID-19 has followed a pattern of initial enthusiasm supported by poor quality evidence, followed by disappointment based on more rigorous evaluations. The experience of HCQ in the COVID-19 era calls for the depoliticization of science away from media glare.
Depoliticization would be really nice. Especially at the NIH, CDC, FDA, and WHO.

#8  Yada, yada, yada. The fact is, your covid anti-vaxxerism is finished as a popular movement in USA. Because,
Insurance companies are now asking COVID-19 patients to share in the cost of their treatment

Your fellow scientific geniuses may ignore the risks of death or permanent impairment - because "It can't happen to me: I'm special" - but they can't ignore the rise in their insurance premiums.

#12  g(r)omgoru is not the only one to post kook articles on the subject, swksvolFF. There are plenty of fixed opinions on both extremes here.

g(r)omgoru, disagreeing with you is not proof that the other is either stupid or ignorant.

HCQ is one of a number of zinc ionophores that can be useful as part of a prophylactic protocol and in the early stage of the disease to prevent progression of the thing. Its advantage is that it is inexpensive, has a long history of use so dosages and dangers are well known and, until the Dr. Fauci drummed up anti-HCQ hysteria, was readily available in the U.S. But others, such as quercetin, are nutraceuticals that do not need a doctor’s prescription, available in a variety of foods or in the vitamin aisle of American grocery stores and drug stores.

#13  Apologies; I submit to your honor in fairness and retract the absolution, guilty of my breaking my own rule of Unchangeable Opinion Based On Incomplete Data.

For 12 months now, I have been witness to ignorant decision making and outright propaganda and have relied mainly on observation evidence.

I submit two more data points, or more accurately for everyone reading, anecdotes.

One: a known known, who does not go to hospital except when no other option allows to squirm out, submitted oneself for lack of breathing. After a Z-Pack, if you will, patient was home in 48 hours.

Two: the long term health effects and damage from Covid Regulations has cost two people their lives - liver failure. Not to say they didn't have problems already, but the house arrest gave virtue to their addiction.

And say what you will about Islam/the covering of the face, at the end of the day when the veil comes off, it is a joyous move..too many see the removal of this Covid Facemask as a negative increase threat.

I guess witnessing two funerals which deserved so much more than cats hiding in a box was heart breaking, the 8 year old girl who jumped from me like I was a coiled rattlesnake got me thinking about the emotional toll.

Also, witnessing two confirmed with The Covid survive when their own lifestyles should have had them in the ground on their own accords five years ago.

Suppose that is four, then.

Cannot speak for our esteemed host and his and family's ordeal. It was about the same time as my associate and his Z-Pack and the fashionable hits against supplemental or passive actions.

#16  The novel pathogenic coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 causes COVID-19 and remains a threat to global public health. Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been shown to prevent viral infection in cell-culture systems, but human clinical trials did not observe a significant improvement in COVID-19 patients treated with these compounds. Here we show that hydroxychloroquine interferes with only one of two somewhat redundant pathways by which the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein is activated to mediate infection. The first pathway is dependent on the endosomal protease cathepsin L and sensitive to hydroxychloroquine, whereas the second pathway is dependent on TMPRSS2, which is unaffected by this compound. We further show that SARS-CoV-2 is more reliant than SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV-1) on the TMPRSS2 pathway, and that this difference is due to a furin cleavage site present in the SARS-CoV-2 S protein. Finally, we show that combinations of hydroxychloroquine and a clinically tested TMPRSS2 inhibitor work together to effectively inhibit SARS-CoV-2 entry. Thus TMPRSS2 expression on physiologically relevant SARS-CoV-2 target cells may bypass the antiviral activities of hydroxychloroquine, and explain its lack of in vivo efficacy.

#17  If, dear readers, you do not mind my indulgence, I would like to quote as sorts one of the storytelling epics available.

The Marvel Comics series.

Bear with me. It is an epic, it is modern, and it is topical.

In Avengers: Endgame, Tony Stark/Iron Man goes on a tirade against Steve Rodgers/Captain America towards the beginning of the film. "What we needed, was an Iron Suit, damned the peoples' rights" or some such. It was framed that Starks was right, and that a iron clapdown would have avoided that whole Thanos situation. Because Starks is infallable.

Wrong.

Had there not have been Ultron, and the Iron Suit Around the World have taken place, then no Avengers would be around and that idea of Independent Thought would have been squashed and come Thanos' goons would have rolled over Earth, close credits, please throw away your movie trash.

Pelosi hears from GOP as Dem bill directs $200M to park in her San Francisco district
[FoxBusinessNews] Republicans cried foul this week over $200 million earmarked in the House Democrats’ massive $3.5 trillion budget resolution for the Presidio Park in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco district, according to reports.

"Their deficit spending proposals saddle future generations with insurmountable debt in order to give Nancy Pelosi things like a $200 million earmark," Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., ranking member of the House Natural Resources Committee, said Thursday while the committee began marking up the bill, according to the Washington Times.

The Presidio is a 1,500-acre national historic park that sits on the San Francisco Peninsula. Drivers see the park as they enter San Francisco from Marin County via the Golden Gate Bridge.

Pelosi helped build support to create the Presidio Trust when the park transitioned from a military installation in the 1990s.

The speaker is also known to frequent the park herself.

New Zealand police kill 'terrorist' after he stabs 6 people
[10News]Shoulda just killed him before
New Zealand authorities say they shot and killed a violent extremist after he entered a supermarket and stabbed and injured six shoppers.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern described Friday's incident as a terror attack.

She said the man was a Sri Lankan national who was inspired by the Islamic State group.

She said he was well known to the nation’s security agencies and was being monitored around the clock.

Ardern said that because the man was under constant monitoring, a police surveillance team and a special tactics group were able to shoot and kill him within 60 seconds of the attack starting.

She said that three of those who had been stabbed were seriously injured.

#6  He wasn’t just being monitored. From the NPR article linked by 10 News:

Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said a police surveillance team and a specialist tactics group had followed the man from his home to the supermarket.

But while they had grave ongoing concerns about the man, they had no particular reason to think he was planning an attack on Friday, Coster said. The man appeared to be going into the store to do his grocery shopping.

"He entered the store, as he had done before. He obtained a knife from within the store," Coster said. "Surveillance teams were as close as they possibly could be to monitor his activity."

Witnesses said the man shouted "Allahu Akbar" — meaning God is great — and started stabbing random shoppers, sending people running and screaming.

Coster said that when the commotion started, two police from the special tactics group rushed over. He said the man charged at the officers with the knife and so they shot and killed him.

One bystander video taken from inside the supermarket records the sound of 10 shots being fired in rapid succession.

Coster said there would be questions about whether police could have reacted even quicker. He said that the man was very aware of the constant surveillance and they needed to be some distance from him for it to be effective.

Ardern said the man had first moved to New Zealand in 2011 and had been monitored by security agencies since 2016. She said authorities are confident he acted alone in the attack.

Skidmark’s Daily Mail link reports that “S.”, as he is identified, has for years openly visited ISIS and other jihadi websites, made threats, and purchased weapons. I would be puzzled as to why New Zealand never deported him except that they keep electing such self-righteous wankers.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli strikes said to target Syria overnight, blasts heard near Tel Aviv
[IsraelTimes] Errant Syrian air defense missile explodes over waters off coast of central Israel, fragments found in north Tel Aviv; no injuries or damage reported

The Britannia-based Observatory for Human Rights reported that weapons development centers near Damascus used by Iran-backed militias had been targeted in the alleged Israeli strikes.
Israeli planes carried out Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s near Damascus early Friday, Syrian state media claimed, and sounds of explosions were heard in central Israel shortly after.

The blast was caused by a Syrian air defense missile that traversed Israeli skies before exploding over the Mediterranean Sea, the Israel Defense Forces said.

Incoming rocket warning sirens were not sounded, in keeping with the military’s policy of not triggering alarms for projectiles headed toward unpopulated areas.

There were no reports of injuries or damage in Israel.

"This morning, residents of central [Israel] found a number of missile fragments on the ground. The fragments were collected by the Israel Police. We thank the residents for their conscientiousness, and we ask them to not touch these fragments," the military said in a statement.

Syria reported that missiles fired from the direction of Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers, a practice dating back to the heady human sacrifice days of Baal Moloch. In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate faci8lity exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. targeted Damascus, but claimed most were shot down by its air defenses.
Most. That means Israel won the exchange.
A short time later, residents near Tel Aviv reported hearing at least one blast — the sound of the surface-to-air missile exploding over the sea. Syrian air defense missiles have in the past accidentally shot down a Russian military plane and have also reached Cyprus in error.

The IDF did not comment on the alleged strikes in Syria, as per its policy.

Video published by SANA purported to show an air defense missile being had gun sex. A blast could be heard shortly after.
The video at the link is singularly uninspiring.
The Britannia-based Observatory for Human Rights reported that weapons development centers near Damascus used by Iran-backed militias had been targeted in the alleged Israeli strikes.

COVID-19: New Mu variant could be more vaccine-resistant
[UN] In its weekly epidemiological update, published on Tuesday, WHO warned it was becoming increasingly prevalent in Colombia and Ecuador, and showed signs of possible resistance to vaccines.

Mu was first identified in Colombia in January 2021, and since then, there have been "sporadic reports" of cases and outbreaks in South America and Europe, WHO said.

While the global prevalence of Mu among sequenced COVID-19 cases is below 0.1%, its prevalence has "consistently increased" in Colombia and Ecuador, where it is now responsible for around 39% and 13% of infections, respectively.

Reports on the variant’s prevalence should be "interpreted with due consideration" given the low sequencing capacity of most countries, the agency said.

65 Dead In Renewed Fighting for Yemen's Marib
[AnNahar] Sixty-five Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...

and pro-government forces have been killed in renewed fighting for the strategic Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i city of Marib, a military official told AFP on Thursday.

The festivities erupted when the Iran-backed rebels attacked pro-government positions south of the city, making progress despite losing dozens of fighters in coalition air strikes.

"Twenty-two pro-government (forces) were killed and 50 others were maimed, while 43 Houthis were also killed in the last 48 hours," a government military official said, in figures that were confirmed by other military and medical sources.

The fighting comes after strikes on Yemen's largest airbase, in the country's south, killed at least 30 pro-government fighters on Sunday in the deadliest incident since December.

Yemen's internationally recognized government -- backed by a Saudi-led military coalition -- and the Huthis have been locked in war since 2014, when the Lions of Islam seized the capital Sanaa.

In February, the Huthis escalated their efforts to seize Marib, the government's last northern stronghold in fighting that has killed hundreds on both sides.

Control of the oil-rich region would strengthen the Huthis' bargaining position in peace talks.

Government Corruption
Quantitative Brainwashing
[International Man] We’re all familiar with the term, "quantitative easing." It’s described as meaning, "A monetary policy in which a central bank purchases government securities or other securities from the market in order to lower interest rates and increase the money supply."

Well, that sounds reasonable... even beneficial. But, unfortunately, that’s not really the whole story.

When QE was implemented, the purchasing power was weak and both government and personal debt had become so great that further borrowing would not solve the problem; it would only postpone it and, in the end, exacerbate it. Effectively, QE is not a solution to an economic problem, it’s a bonus of epic proportions, given to banks by governments, at the expense of the taxpayer.

But, of course, we shouldn’t be surprised that governments have passed off a massive redistribution of wealth from the taxpayer to their pals in the banking sector with such clever terms. Governments of today have become extremely adept at creating euphemisms for their misdeeds in order to pull the wool over the eyes of the populace.

At this point, we cannot turn on the daily news without being fed a full meal of carefully- worded mumbo jumbo, designed to further overwhelm whatever small voices of truth may be out there.

Let’s put this in perspective for a moment.

For millennia, political leaders have been in the practice of altering, confusing and even obliterating the truth, when possible. And it’s probably safe to say that, for as long as there have been media, there have been political leaders doing their best to control them.

Aid group: 22 migrants die on way to Spain; dozens missing
[AlAhram] The Atlantic route from the west coast of Africa to Spain's Canary Islands has become one of the most used and deadliest routes for those desperate to reach Europe

A humanitarian aid group that monitors the plight of migrants colonists taking perilous seaborne routes to Spain said that 21 women and one girl have died and several dozen more people were lost at sea while trying to reach the Canary Islands.

Helena Maleno, founder of nongovernmental organization Walking Borders, tweeted Thursday that 22 bodies have been recovered from a migrant boat by the Moroccan navy. She said there was one girl among the female casualties, who were mostly from the Ivory Coast and Guinea.

Moroccan authorities and navy haven't commented or provided information about the incident. Spain's maritime rescue service also wasn't able to confirm it immediately.

Maleno said that the boat started its journey carrying 86 people, including 36 women and 13 girls.

Science & Technology
Why all the fuss about Ivermectin?
[American Thinker] First hydroxychloroquine, now ivermectin, is the hated deadly drug de jour, castigated by the medical establishment and regulatory authorities. Both drugs have been around for a long time as FDA-approved prescription medications. Yet now we are told they are as deadly as arsenic.

As a physician, I am certainly aware of ivermectin but don’t recall ever writing a prescription for it in my 30+ years’ medical career. Ivermectin is an anthelmintic, meaning it cures parasitic infections. In my world of ophthalmology, it is used on occasion for rare parasitic or worm infections in the eye.

Ivermectin was FDA approved in 1998 under brand name Stromectol, produced by pharmaceutical giant Merck, approved for several parasitic infections. The product label described it having a "unique mode of action," which "leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions." This suggests that ivermectin acts as an ionophore, making cell membranes permeable to ions that enter the cell for therapeutic effect.

Ivermectin is one of several ionophores, others including hydroxychloroquine, quercetin, and resveratrol, the latter two available over the counter. These ionophores simply open a cellular door, allowing zinc to enter the cell, where it then interferes with viral replication, providing potential therapeutic benefit in viral and other infections.

This scientific paper reviews and references other studies demonstrating antibacterial, antiviral, and anticancer properties of ivermectin. This explains the interest in this drug as having potential use in treating COVID.

Does ivermectin work in COVID? I am not attempting to answer that question, instead looking at readily available information because this drug has been the focus of much recent media attention. For the benefit of any reader eager to report this article and author to the medical licensing boards for pushing misleading information, I am not offering medical advice or prescribing anything. Rather, I am only offering commentary on this newsworthy and controversial drug.

What’s newsworthy about ivermectin? A simple Google search of most medications describes uses and side effects. A similar search of ivermectin provides headlines of why it shouldn’t be taken and how dangerous it is.

#3  Alternative FDA approved usage of medicines has been utilized for many years. Prescriptions for non approved FDA medicines is or was historically malfeasance. I suppose what presented the greatest threat to the pharmaceutical industry attracted the greatest ire. So what is shown to work in my opinion use it. That is the judgement of the attending physician. The FDA is lethargic at best. Smearing of others is a technique long held dear by the weak and control oriented. I see the choice now is between the red pill or the blue pill. The choice has been made for many and no argument will sway one from another in their way of thinking.

As I endeavored to explain to you some time hence, if there was a miracle cure - the Chinese (who are not bound by medical ethics in experimenting on humans) would have discovered it some time ago. Coronavirus: Who are Israel's seriously ill patients?
[JPost] - As of Thursday morning, there were some 250 COVID-19 patients in serious condition. What are their ages and what is their vaccination status?

About 210 of them are individuals over the age of 60. Of those, 153 were fully vaccinated, seven were in the process of getting fully immunized and 50 were not vaccinated.

Of the 40 patients in serious condition aged under 60, however, only nine were fully inoculated, one was partially vaccinated and 30 had not received any vaccine.
And, I'll bet you that among the seriously ill vaccinated majority didn't get the third shot in time.

Ask and ye shall receive:
New daily infections top 10,000 for 4th straight day; serious cases further dip

[IsraelTimes] Expert advising government says morbidity declining faster than recently predicted; relaxed quarantine rules for those immunized against COVID take effect.

The Health Ministry on Friday reported 11,210 new coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
infections the day before, as serious cases continued declining amid a national campaign to administer vaccine booster shots.

Segal attributed the record levels of daily infections to increased testing of children around the start of the school year, which began Wednesday.
Israel has now recorded over 10,000 new cases for four straight days, with Thursday’s figure below the daily record of 11,265 infections confirmed Wednesday.

Despite surging infections, serious cases have begun falling since peaking at 753 on Sunday, with the Health Ministry reporting 667 people at death's door from COVID-19 complications as of Friday morning.

The positive test rate Thursday was 8.43 percent, the highest its been during the current wave of morbidity.

The corpse count stood at 7,122, with 13 fatalities recorded Thursday.

The Health Ministry also reported 6,005,150 people have received at least one vaccine dose and 5,501,924 have gotten two shots. Another 2,493,222 have been administered a third dose.

"Morbidity is continuing to decline even faster than the scenario we presented two weeks ago. Hopefully it will continue like this," Eran Segal, a Weizmann Institute computational biologist who is a top government adviser on COVID, wrote on Twitter.

Segal attributed the record levels of daily infections to increased testing of children around the start of the school year, which began Wednesday.

Also Friday, new quarantine rules for arriving travelers took effect, with those now defined by the Health Ministry as immunized exempt from having to self-isolate for a week.

Under the new guidelines, which were announced Sunday as the booster shots were made available to all Israelis eligible to be vaccinated, anyone who received a third dose at least a week before only has to quarantine for a day or upon receiving a negative test result.

The exemption also applies to those who have had their second vaccine dose within the last six months or those who recovered from COVID in the past half year. Following the six months, anyone who recovered must receive a vaccine shot to continue to be exempt from quarantine.

The relaxed quarantine rules do not apply to travelers coming from "red" countries with high infection rates, where Israelis are currently barred from visiting without special permission.

Afghanistan
Taliban Claim Advances in Panjshir Fighting
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
on Thursday said they had captured the center of Shutul district in Panjshir along with 11 outposts held by opposition forces.

A member of the Taliban's cultural commission said that 34 members of the opposition forces were killed in the ongoing festivities that began last night.

The Taliban shared a video online saying their forces had advanced in Shutul district.

"A heavy toll has been inflicted on the opposite side in last night's operations as well as in this morning's festivities in Shutul district of Panjshir," said Inamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban's cultural commission.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
forces loyal to Ahmad Massoud rejected the figures and claimed that the Taliban has suffered heavy casualties.

A front man for the opposition front, Fahim Dashti, said 350 Taliban fighters were killed and at least 290 more were maimed in the festivities in the last four days. The Taliban has rejected the figures.

"Last night the Taliban made many attempts to enter Shutul district through the Jabal Siraj mountains, but their attempts failed, their bodies remained on the battlefield and they took only 40 bodies with them," Dashti said.

The festivities come as political efforts failed to forge an agreement between the two sides. One analyst said that such festivities will not benefit either side and there is a need to resume the negotiations between the Taliban and forces under Ahmad Massoud.

"My request is for the Taliban to show some compromise, prolong the negotiations and avoid hasty decisions on war. But this has not happened. Both sides have engaged in conflict. Why should our youth kill each other? Foreigners are no longer in the country. We should live like brothers," said Ishaq Gailani, head of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan.

State Department's 'Turf Wars' Over Trump Program 'Mucked Up' Evacuation of Americans From Afghanistan
[PJMedia] Hundreds left behind in Afghanistan by Presidentish Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
’s hasty and ill-planned bugout could have been gotten out, if not for State Department pie fights over the Trump-era Contingency and Crisis Response bureau.

The story you first read about here two weeks ago got an added boost from Adam Ciralsky’s latest for Vanity Fair.

Planned as a major upgrade to the Obama-era Operational Medicine (OpMed), the CCR was quashed so badly by infighting inside Anthony Blinken’s State Department that "OpMed was in limbo" just as the situation in Kabul went Tango Uniform.

Ciralsky described OpMed as "a turnkey solution for overseas operations." Even as a mere office, William "Doc" Walters’ in-house organization has carried out "daring rescues of U.S. officials, American citizens, and foreign nationals imperiled overseas."

In his last year as President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
’s SecState, Mike Pompeo had planned to elevate OpMed to bureau status at the Bureau of Contingency and Crisis Response (CCR).

But then Blinken blinked:

Blinken approved a recommendation against upgrading OpMed into a bureau. A unit distinguished by its ability to blow through bureaucratic wickets would instead be forced to play "Mother May I," answering to a series of administrators: a director, an acting undersecretary, and on up to the deputy secretary for management and resources (DMR). To outsiders, this might seem like a low-stakes game of Jenga in reverse. But the move, which blindsided many, appeared to have profound consequences.

Walters resigned in protest, telling Blinken, "Sir, you deserve to have leaders who can get behind the decisions you make. I can’t do that. So I’m leaving," according to Vanity Fair.

As I wrote when the less-detailed version of this story broke on August 19, "Biden didn’t plan for every contingency. He killed our ability to respond to the most likely contingency."

There is so much blame to go around that I hardly know where to begin.

But the rot does seem deepest at Blinken’s State Department if Ciralsky’s report is anything to go by:

This individual described the decision-making process at Foggy Bottom as being plagued by "pathologic optimism." But as the days and weeks wore on, several other State Department sources would explain that the problem came down to hubris. Eliminating CCR and degrading OpMed, without clearly defined alternatives, was evidence, they said, of meta-ignorance (known in psychology circles as the Dunning-Kruger effect); America’s diplomats, in the view of these insiders, were ignorant of their own ignorance.

Two very bad things were apparently going on at the very same time earlier this summer.

Our top military brass was going forward with closing Bagram Air Base first, thus eliminating the Pentagon’s ability to deal with the crisis created by Biden’s childish determination to exit Afghanistan completely by an arbitrary deadline.

While the White House and Pentagon were busy creating a military and humanitarian crisis, Blinken’s State Department was busy sidelining the one organization they had on hand to respond to Biden’s bungled bugout.

The cascading symmetrical failures would be something you could laugh at in a Franz Kafka story, except these are the deadly and real-world failures of an administration that was supposed to put the grown-ups back in charge.

#1  Two very bad things were apparently going on at the very same time earlier this summer.

I suspect "two" would be a very conservative estimate.

Biden watched the entire Osama bin Laden - Abbottabad, Pakistan operation go down just before Obama was re-elected. His ill-fated 9/11 AFG (made for TV) withdrawal scheme was intended to be his and his WH strategy advisor's Abbottabad media success story.

India-Pakistan
In the Taliban’s victory at Kabul, Al-Qaeda has a loud message on Jammu and Kashmir
[OneIndia] It is a well known fact that the al-Qaeda has been trying to set its foothold in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
. It has formed multiple units with the help of those who are disgruntled with groups such as the Hizbul Mujahideen
...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. One of the Pak sock puppets waging jihad in Indian Kashmir. It was originally organized as the armed wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 1990, Dar declared Hizbul as the sword arm of Jamaat. Hizbul murdered many of the pro-independence intelligentsia in Kashmir. After the organization was taken over by Syed Salahuddin Dar and several other ex-Hizb leaders were assassinated between 2001 and 2003...

NIA court frames charges against 8 Khalistan terrorists for killing Shaurya Chakra awardee
[OneIndia] A special court of the National Investigation Agency has framed charges against 8 Lions of Islam of the Khalistan Liberation Force
...Khalistan is the idea of an independent Sikh homeland in the Indian (and Pak, but they don't dwell on that) Punjab. The local troublemakers are financed by the Sikh diaspora, who love the idea of the folks they left behind murdering their neighbours before dying romantically for a hopeless idea, with training and additional funding from Pakistain’s ISI as yet another arrow in their quiver aimed at the Indian throat. The Khalistan Liberation Force, like Antifa, is the umbrella for a bunch of Sikh groups that have engaged in armed struggle® against India since the 1980s...
in connection with the killing of Comrade Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a Shaurya Chakra Awardee.

Charges have been framed against Sukhraj Singh, RavinderSingh, Akashdeep Arora, Jagroop Singh, Sukhdeep Singh, Gurjit Singh, Inderjit Singh and Sukhmeet Pal Singh.

The case relates to the killing of Balwinder Singh on October 16 2020 at his residence in Bhikhiwind, District Tarn Taran, Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

by two unidentified persons.

Investigation has revealed that the chargesheeted accused were part of the conspiracy hatched by Pakistain based leadership of proscribed terrorist organization Khalistan Liberation Force for assassinating Singh who was awarded Shaurya Chakra for his brave fight against Lions of Islam at the peak of militancy in Punjab.

KLF chief Lakhvir Singh Rode and his Canada based deputy Sunny Toronto had tasked Sukhmeet Pal Singh, a gangster turned terrorist to arrange shooters and execute the plan.

Bhikariwal had instructed Sukhdeep Singh and Gurjit Singh to undertake the killing of Singh. Inderjit Singh was involved in the reconnaissance of the target. After investigation, NIA had filed a chargesheet, against the above eight accused persons.

British-born ISIS ‘Beatle' due to plead guilty; Update: Former Brit admits all, gets life sentence
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Update from The Times of Israel at 5:30 a.m ET:
UK-born Alexanda Kotey admits to involvement in scheme to kidnap and torture Westerners, including Israeli-American Steven Sotloff, among four beheaded by group.

Alexanda Amon Kotey,
...half-Ghanaian, half-Greek Cypriot, all former British citizen, Alex was known in the press as ‘Ringo’. He recruited at least 25 of his peers in the area west of London, and gleefully beheaded captives for ISIS in Syria. His confession makes his little group sound like a bunch of Big Turbans...
37, pleaded guilty to all eight counts against him at a plea hearing in US District Court in Alexandria. The charges include hostage-taking resulting in death and providing material support to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group from 2012 through 2015.

He admitted guilt in connection with the deaths of four American hostages — Sotloff, journalist James Foley, aid worker Peter Kassig and Kayla Mueller, also an aid worker — as well as European and Japanese nationals who also were held captive.

Britannia, which did not want to put them on trial at home, stripped them of their UK nationality.

But their transfer to the United States was made possible only after the US authorities assured London they would not seek the death penalty
in the case.

They both originally pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
, but earlier this week Kotey indicated he would change his plea.

The plea deal sets a mandatory minimum sentence of life without parole. After 15 years, though, he would be eligible to be transferred to the United Kingdom to face any possible charges there.

In the plea deal, he admits that life is an appropriate sentence in the United Kingdom as well. If he were to receive a sentence of less than life there, the deal requires that he serve the rest of his life sentence, either in the United Kingdom if that country will do so, or be transferred back to the US to serve the life term.

The deal also requires him to cooperate with authorities and answer questions about his time in the Islamic State group. He would not, though, be required to testify at Elsheikh’s trial, scheduled for January.

US District Court Judge TS Ellis said Kotey had "agreed to cooperate fully and truthfully with the United States and provide the government with all the information you know about any criminal activity, not just what is in the indictment, but if you know about any criminal activity."

The deal also requires him to meet with victims’ families if they request it.

Kotey gave a somewhat detailed account of his time in Islamic State when Ellis asked him to explain in his own words what he had done.

He said he traveled to Syria to "engage in a military fight against the Syrian forces of Bashir al-Assad" and that he eventually pledged allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

"I accept I will be perceived as a radical who holds bad boy views," he said.

He acknowledged that he had participated in "capture-and-detain operations" to kidnap Foley and other Western hostages and that he led efforts to extract ransoms.

He described the acts of violence that were inflicted on the hostages as a necessary part of keeping them in line and persuading Western governments to pay ransom.

In the years after the hostages had been killed, he said he filled multiple roles within the Islamic State, including as a sniper and as director of a special forces training camp.

Kotey and Elsheikh’s four-member IS cell was dubbed the "Beatles" by their captives due to their British accents. They allegedly tortured and killed their victims, including by beheading, and IS released videos of the murders for propaganda purposes.

Alleged ringleader Mohammed Emwazi, known as "Jihadi John," was killed in a US Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in Syria in November 2015 while the fourth "Beatle," Aine Davis, is imprisoned in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
after being convicted on terrorism charges.

Kotey and Elsheikh supervised detention facilities for hostages and allegedly coordinated ransom negotiations conducted by email, according to the US authorities. The pair also engaged in a "prolonged pattern of physical and psychological violence against hostages," they said.

Kotey and Elsheikh were "leading participants in a brutal hostage-taking scheme" that targeted American and European citizens and that involved murders, mock executions, shocks with Tasers, physical restraints and other brutal acts, the indictment alleged.

Prosecutor Dennis Fitzpatrick said at Thursday’s hearing that Kotey, Elsheikh and Emwazi were all friends at a young age in London, where they became radicalized.

A US special forces raid that resulted in the death of Islamic State group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria in 2019 was code-named Task Force 8-14, in reference to the birthday of the young aid worker Mueller. Prosecutors say Kotey and Elsheikh worked closely with a chief front man for IS who reported to al-Baghdadi.

James Foley was kidnapped on November 22, 2012 in northern Syria with British Sunday Times journalist John Cantlie, who is still missing. A writer and videographer, Foley covered the uprising against Bashir al-Assad’s regime for various media, including Agence La Belle France-Presse (AFP). On August 19, 2014, IS posted a video online showing a masked, black-clad man beheading him in retaliation for the US strikes in Iraq. He was 40.

Steve Sotloff was captured on August 4, 2013, north of Aleppo where he was covering the refugee crisis. Originally from Miami, he was the grandson of Holocaust survivors and had dual US-Israeli citizenship. His family and the Israeli government kept his kidnapping secret for a year to try to assist his safe return. He was beheaded in early September 2014 in an execution in which Emwazi appeared. He was 31.

Kayla Mueller was working with the Danish Refugee Council when she was kidnapped in northern Syria in 2013. Mueller’s parents say she was tortured before being handed over to al-Baghdadi, who allegedly raped her repeatedly before killing her. IS claimed, without offering any proof, that she was killed in an air strike near Raqqa, Syria by a Jordanian plane in 2015, when she would have been 26.

Peter Kassig was the head of a small NGO that distributed food, clothing and medicine to Syrian refugees when he was kidnapped on October 1, 2013. In November 2014, IS grabbed credit for his execution in a video in which Emwazi appeared, standing next to a severed head. He was 26.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hanna Saleh: So that Lebanon Does Not Remain Victim to an Organized Crime!
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] As of this Thursday, September 2, 389 days have gone since Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Trust them on that...
last had a government. The August 4 Beirut blast had toppled Hassan Diab's government by the tenth of that month. And those who were designated to form an alternative government have been made to fail: Mustapha Adib and Saad al-Harriri have failed to form a government, and now Najib Mikati is on course to announce his failure to do so. This is the longest Lebanon has ever gone without a government, but it is also the most dangerous, as every day has felt like an eternity to the country's people. Is Lebanon fated to remain a victim of the organized crime in service of a project of subordination and "lust" for power?

Let us examine the image; what do we see? The collapses have broadened and began to affect most of the Lebanese' lives. They have been impoverished after the money they had deposited at the banks was plundered, and thousands of their jobs and businesses were lost to bankruptcy. An existential threat now threatens the country, and it is impossible to eliminate it. The robbery of the century's chapters are being undergone successively, with the worst decision to go into effect since October 17, 2019, allowing for the transfer of wealth abroad, whether it is through money smuggling or a result of the legalized smuggling of fuel, medicine and flour, strategic commodities subsidized through citizens' deposits.

  • New law allows Texas residents who legally own guns to carry the firearms openly without a license or having to complete training

Israel is now the world's Covid hotspot: Cases soar despite country's trail-blazing vaccine roll-out - sparking fears other highly-vaccinated countries will be hit by another wave
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Israel has become the Covid capital of the world despite leading the charge on vaccines, in a clear warning sign that Britain, the US and other highly-immunised nations are still vulnerable to another wave.

Stats compiled by Oxford University-backed research team Our World in Data shows there were a record 1,892 Covid cases per million people in Israel on Wednesday — nearly 0.2 per cent of the entire population in a single day.

That was significantly higher than second worst-hit Mongolia, where the rate was 1,119 per million, and double the figures for Kosovo (980), Georgia (976) and Montenegro (909), which rounded out the top five.

The figure only looks at one day's worth of tests and Israel's high rate is thought to have been driven up by a huge testing push ahead of schools reopening there.

But the country has consistently reported some of the highest infection rates in the world since mid-August amid an unprecedented third wave, despite being one of the most vaccinated nations in the world.

For comparison, 522 people per million in the UK tested positive yesterday and the figure was closer to 595 in the US. It suggests protection gained from vaccines is starting to buckle in the face of the highly-transmissible Delta variant.
While Israel is seeing record case numbers in its fourth wave, the jabs are still protecting against severe illness with Covid deaths running at about half of the level of its second wave, even though fatalities have risen sharply in the last month.

Israel has been offering booster jabs to people over the age of 60 since July, and data suggests the scheme has helped to curb rising hospital admissions. The country has since expanded the top-up drive to everyone over 12 who has already had two doses.

#6  There is still a lot of doubt as to whether the current vaccines are effective against c19.
A person can still contract c19 and become ill, maybe die. The vaccines require a booster after six months, and maybe more boosters, and you can still become ill. There are questions about the safety and side effects of the vaccines. There is no long term data on the c19 vaccines.

Libyan Minister: 2014 War in Benghazi Against Extremists was a 'Civil' War
[LIBYAREVIEW] Libyan Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid al-Lafi described the 2014 war against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and al-Qaeda as a civil war.

The minister was previously a director of al-Nabaa TV, which has for years supported al-Qaeda in both Derna & Benghazi.

During his conversation on the social media application, Club House, the minister said that he respects the "views" that say it was a war against terrorism. As well as adding that he fully believes that it was a civil war and that the claim of extremism of these groups "is not a definitive fact, but just a point of view."

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
EU Ambassadors described it as a war against terrorism. "The Libyan National Army (LNA) liberates Benghazi’s Quwarsha from ISIS & Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
. Condolences to the families of LNA deaders," former UK Ambassador to Libya, Peter Millett tweeted in 2016.

A leaked investigation memorandum to the Libyan Public Prosecution revealed the involvement of al-Lafi in a number of cases including, corruption, financial extortion, support for terrorism, and arms smuggling during 2012/ 2019. According to the investigation memo, al-Lafi supported the IS-allied Benghazi Shura Council of Revolutionaries (BRSC) in eastern Libya.

Liz Cheney promoted to vice chair of Jan. 6 select committee
[NYPOST] Rep. Liz Cheney
...Faux Republican hereditary congresswoman-for-life from Wyoming. She has been described as Republican royalty. A staunch Never Trumper, Liz supported the second impeachment of Donald Trump for his role in the 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol. Publicans dumped her from her leadership position in May 2021. Refusing to admit that she had trashed her own career, Cheney has said that she intends to be the leader... in a fight to help to restore our party and that she may be interested in a future presidential run....
’s role on the Jan. 6 select committee has been elevated to vice chair of the panel, Chairman Bennie Thompson announced on Thursday.

The promotion will allow the Wyoming Republican to lead proceedings in the event of Thompson’s absence, placing her in the No. 2 ranking member on the committee.

Cheney has come under fire from her GOP colleagues for accepting Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
’s offer to join the panel tasked with investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot — after she was ousted from her position as GOP conference chair in May.

"Representative Cheney has demonstrated again and again her commitment to getting answers about January 6th, ensuring accountability, and doing whatever it takes to protect democracy for the American people. Her leadership and insights have shaped the early work of the Select Committee and this appointment underscores the bipartisan nature of this effort," Thompson said in a statement.

The announcement comes as House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) is pushing for a rules change to oust both Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), who was also tapped by Democrats to serve on the panel, from the House GOP conference — alleging the GOP Trump critics are "spies for the Democrats that we currently invite to the meetings, despite our inability to trust them."

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Brian Williams Tearfully Recounts Clinging To Outside Of Airplane To Escape Kabul
[Babylon Bee] NEW YORK, NY—During his nightly news program this week, Brian Williams, world-renowned and universally-trusted news anchor, described his harrowing escape from Kabul.

"There was chaos everywhere!" Williams recounted in Friday’s captivating edition of Brian Williams’ The 11th Hour with Brian Williams. "AK-47s were shooting at me as I drove my moped through crowded, burning streets. Chaghama, my wife of twenty years, and our three young sons, Abu-Zar, Muhammed, and Frank Jr, were all piled onto the back seat, while I dodged gunfire and EMPs with incredible precision. We finally arrived at the airport in time to see the last plane taking off."

Williams paused a moment to wipe a tear from his eye.

"Suddenly, a gigantic Mad Max-style vehicle came up behind us and started chasing us while Taliban soldiers clung to it, blasting rock music and throwing spears at us," Williams continued. "That’s when I hit the nitro, and blasted forward at speeds never before witnessed by humankind. But alas, I was forced to slow down for a brief moment to rescue a baby that was stuck in a tree. As the post-apocalyptic truck began closing in on us, I began to feel that all hope was lost!"

Williams took a long draw from his glass of water.

"Then I saw it, off in the distance: a humble farmer who had come to town to sell crops in the market from his two-wheeled cart, had temporarily set it down at just the right angle to form a ramp! Sweat dripped from my brow as I charged forward toward the cart, knowing I had to time it just right!"

Williams leaned forward and grasped his desk as he stared straight into the camera.

"That’s when I hit the nitro, and raced toward that ramp at unfathomable velocity," Williams said while gesturing with his hands to show the angle at which his moped raced upward. "As we jettisoned into the sky, I glanced in my rear-view mirror just in time to see the Taliban vehicle skid into a truck full of manure. And then explode."

Williams illustrated by tossing his papers into the air.

"As we careened, almost weightlessly through the nothingness, I saw the last escaping 747 flying away. That’s when I hit the gas and aimed right at the giant plane. Just as the moped finally began to fall down toward the earth, I grabbed my family in one arm and leaped toward the port side wing, grasping it with my free hand just in time to swing around and throw each family member through a separate passenger window. From there, I held onto the outer hull for five days, as we made the arduous journey back home."

Williams was still grabbing the top of his desk with his full body as the program came to a close.

UPDATE: Williams has clarified that he was actually on a different moped from the one that shot into the sky toward the 747.

UPDATE 2: Williams has further clarified that he was actually sleeping peacefully in his New York City condo when these events occurred.

Abbas Arrives in Cairo for Egyptian-Palestinian-Jordanian Summit; UPDATE: They Met, Accomplished Nothing More

arrived in Cairo on Wednesday to take part in a joint Egyptian-Paleostinian-Jordanian summit, which aims to unify their positions on the Paleostinian issue ahead of this month’s annual meeting of the UN General Assembly.

The summit will be attended by Paleostinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Accompanying Abbas on his visit to Cairo are Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad al-Maliki, member of the Central Committee of Fatah movement Hussein al-Sheikh, the head of the Paleostinian General Intelligence Service, Major General Majid Faraj, and the president’s advisor for diplomatic affairs Majdi al-Khalidi.

Egyptian Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhi and a delegation from the Egyptian General Intelligence Service welcomed Abbas at Cairo International Airport.

Azzam al-Ahmad, member of the Paleostinian Fatah movement’s Central Committee, said the summit aims to coordinate the positions of the participating states on Paleostine.

"The summit will discuss the Paleostinian issue and the issue of moving forward the grinding of the peace processor with Israel," al-Ahmad said.

"It is necessary for the Quartet to carry out its duties before holding the session of the UN General Assembly, where President Abbas will chair the State of Paleostine delegation and will address a speech during the session," he added.
Update from An Nahar at 5 a.m. ET: They met, which was their only accomplishment.
Egypt's president held talks in Cairo on Thursday with the King of Jordan and the president of the Paleostinian Authority aimed at reviving the Middle East grinding of the peace processor and strengthening a ceasefire that halted the Israel-Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, war.

discussed the elusive two-state solution to the conflict with Israel, according to a statement from el-Sissi's office. The three leaders said the Paleostinians have a right to an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Israel staunchly opposes such a plan.

In Thursday's talks, the Egyptian and Jordanian leaders also renewed their support of Abbas warning against the "dangerous repercussions" of the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the demolition of Paleostinian houses and the confiscation of land properties, read the statement. On his part, el-Sissi stressed that the establishment of a Paleostinian state requires the unification of all Paleostinian factions, added the statement.

The Islamic Death Eater group has controlled Gazoo

since ousting Abbas' forces in 2007, a year after it defeated his Fatah party in Paleostinian parliamentary elections.

"We very much welcome the meeting of these three leaders," U.N. front man Stephane Dujarric said. "We hope it will lead to a positive outcome and a regain of traction of diplomacy in the Israeli‑Paleostinian conflict."

Relations remain tense, even though Israel's new coalition government, which includes an Arab party for the first time, has sought to keep things calm after the deadly war in May. Hamas responded to weeks of tensions in east Jerusalem by firing rockets, which triggered a withering Israeli assault on Gaza.

At least 260 Paleostinians were killed during the conflict, including 67 children and 39 women, according to the Gaza health ministry. Hamas has acknowledged the deaths of 80 Death Eaters. Twelve civilians, including two children, were killed in Israel, along with one soldier.

Egypt, which has played a key mediation role between Israel and Hamas over the years, mediated a truce. In recent weeks, stakeholders have stepped up their diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing another military outburst in the region. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Neftali Bennett has recently said that he will be visiting Egypt "soon" to hold talks with el-Sissi.

Last week after Bennett met with U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden

in Washington, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with Abbas in Ramallah. Those talks signaled a possible shift after the near-complete breakdown in communication between Abbas and Israeli leaders in recent years.

The meeting was followed by the Israeli announcement of a series of gestures aimed at strengthening the Paleostinian Authority, including plans to loan $150 million to the cash-strapped autonomy government in the occupied West Bank.

Slain Tanzanian gunman was a terrorist, police say
[THEEASTAFRICAN.CO.KE] The gunman who killed four people in Tanzania's financial capital Dar es Salaam last week before being rubbed out was "a terrorist" who was radicalised by social media, police said Thursday.

The gunman -- identified by police as Hamza Mohammed -- went on a rampage on August 25, killing three officers and a private security guard in the city's diplomatic quarter, in a rare attack in the East African nation.

"Our investigations have revealed that Hamza Mohammed was a person who had a secret life with all indicators of terrorism," the director of criminal investigations Camillus Wambura told journalists, describing him as a "terrorist".

"He spent much of his time to learn about the kinds of terrorism incidents such as those conducted by al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
and ISIS through the internet, like many snuffies do," Wambura added.

In addition to the four dead, six other people were maimed in the shooting spree, which took place near the entrance of the French embassy.

Footage aired on local media showed a man in a checked shirt and white Islamic cap armed with an assault rifle roaming the street near a city bus.

Dozens of coppers, politicians and Tanzanian citizens gathered on Friday at a ceremony to pay their last respects to the slain officers.

Neighbours have expressed shock at the shooting, saying the attacker lived with his mother in a flat about two kilometres from where the incident took place.

"I knew him since he was a young boy. There was a time he disappeared until he came back recently," taxi driver Omary Issa said.

"He was an ordinary person whom we interacted like any other neighbour. I was really shocked," he added.

Such attacks are rare in Tanzania, which has been largely peaceful in contrast to its volatile neighbours such as Mozambique.

Syrian Mercenaries Protest against Salary Reduction in Libya
[LIBYAREVIEW] The Director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), Rami Abdel-Rahman stated that members of the al-Hamza militia held demonstrations at a Ottoman Turkish-run military base in Libya, to protest their conditions and the reduction of their salaries to $300 USD. He added that these fighters demanded their leaders pay then $1,000 USD, and return them to Syria.

He pointed out that about 7,000 Syrian mercenaries are still in Libya, noting that "Abu Amsha" sends jihadist groups from Syria to Libya, in exchange for money.

Earlier in August, the SOHR reported that about 130 Syrian mercenaries were repatriated to Syria, as a new batch of fighters reportedly arrived to replace them.

On 10 July, the SOHR reported that Ottoman Turkish intelligence and Ottoman Turkish-backed forces were preparing to send 150 Syrian mercenaries to Libya.

These exchanges take place every 15 days, to maintain the number of mercenaries in Libya.

The fighters are recruited on a monthly salary of $500 USD, and promises of Ottoman Turkish citizenship. They are transported from Ottoman Turkish-held areas in Northern Syria to military airports in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
, and in turn, transferred to Libya.

Kadhimi's Government Aborts Attempt to Forge October's Elections
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi government announced its success in thwarting a possible fraud in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for October.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Prime Minister’s Office said that the security services succeeded, under the direct supervision of the Iraqi judiciary, in implementing a proactive operation that thwarted an attempt to falsify the elections by putting pressure on a number of Electoral Commission employees, with the aim of shuffling the results and stirring chaos.

The statement said: "After careful technical investigations by the concerned bodies, and under the direct supervision of the judiciary, the security services were able to arrest a number of suspects in a group that tried to commit electoral fraud, by using their relations with employees of the Electoral Commission."

"This came with the aim of provoking information and creating political chaos in Iraq, via a network of electronic communication sites, including a site called ’Lady of Green’, where those in charge tried by various means to suggest that it was linked to the office of the Prime Minister, its employees, or the Prime Minister’s advisors," according to the statement.

The Prime Minister’s Office was referring to a new website that published news and scandals some political blocs and figures, including an attack on the visit of the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki to the Kurdistan region last week.

The statement continued: "Some media outlets - particularly those affiliated with some political powers - echoed these false slanders in a manner that lacks professionalism and fairness. This is considered a blatant violation of law and professional principles. Justice found its way to prove the invalidity of these lies..."

Kadhimi’s office stressed that the government would continue to "implement its commitments to secure fair elections, provide all its requirements and maintain its neutrality in terms of competition in the electoral process."

White House proposes removing penalties for fentanyl trafficking-related offenses
[FOX] The White House on Thursday proposed removing certain penalties associated with trafficking of fentanyl-related substances (FRS), prompting criticism that it would weaken illicit drug enforcement.

President Biden and former President Trump temporarily placed FRS under schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. Thursday's proposal would make that change permanent while removing certain quantity-based mandatory minimums.

In a letter to Senate leaders reviewed by Fox News, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) described the plan as the result of collaboration with the Justice Department (DOJ) and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

"We are pleased to present to Congress a long-term, consensus approach that advances efforts to reduce the supply and availability of illicitly manufactured FRS, while protecting civil rights, and reducing barriers to scientific research for all schedule I substances," said ONDCP acting Director Regina LaBelle.

However, with that said.
If I read the purposed changes to the levels of criminality levels trafficking vs person possession charges correctly. It basically weeds out the street drug user with a few pills vs a dealer/ trafficker.

"Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, applauded the Biden administration in a statement Thursday. He said: "It is time for Congress to permanently ban fentanyl-related substances, and I’m pleased that the Biden administration has put forward a proposal that is consistent with bipartisan legislation I have introduced … Not only is a permanent solution critical in our battle against addiction in this country, but it is also vital in ensuring law enforcement can continue to protect our communities by bringing criminal actions against individuals who manufacture, distribute, or handle these deadly drugs."

Georgia USA: Former DA indicted in jogger Ahmaud Arbery's murder
[NYPost] A former district attorney in Georgia was charged with trying to shield the white men who allegedly chased down and killed black jogger Ahmaud Arbery from hate crime charges last February.

Former Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jackie Johnson was indicted for violating her oath of office and hindering a law enforcement officer.

Johnson used to work with suspect Greg McMichael, then an investigator in her office. He called the then-DA soon after he chased down Arbery, 25, in a pickup truck while his son Travis McMichael shot the victim dead in the coastal town of Brunswick, prosecutors said.

#1  The other 1/2 of the story for Ahmaud Arbery

Ahmaud Arbery - No babe in the woods.
RAP SHEET
2013- he pleaded guilty to charges he carried a gun onto a high school campus, a year after he graduated. Rodney Ellis, police chief for the Glynn County school system, testified at Wednesday's hearing that Arbery tried to evade officers on foot and stopped only when two of them pointed guns at him.

2017 - He pleaded guilty to shoplifting charges where he tried to steal a TV from a Walmart store.

Two other officers testified they recalled encounters with Arbery, saying he became angry when questioned. He was not charged with crimes in either instance.

And a local convenience store manager, Crystal Wilson, told the judge about a young Black man who several times stole food. Wilson said she recognized it was Arbery after seeing his photo in the newspaper after his death.

Mental Issues
The judge chose not to hear testimony on Arbery's mental health, expressing concern about discussing private medical records in open court.

According the Police report.
There was an altercation between Arbery and Travis in which they struggled over a shotgun. That is when Arbery was shot.

MY TAKE
The shooters overacted and should have handled the situation better.

Afghanistan
Taliban Reportedly Deliver American Military Hardware To Iran
[IranIntl] Reports and images on social media received from Iran indicate that tanks and military vehicles which belonged to the Afghan army were seen in Tehran and other parts of Iran.

Photos have emerged showing armored Humvees being transported from the eastern parts of the country toward Tehran, on the Semnan-Garmsar road.

Besmallah Mohammadi, a former Afghan defense ministry official published one of the photos referring to Iran as a "bad neighbor" and saying Afghanistan misfortune will not last forever.

Iran had promised to resume fuel deliveries to Afghanistan last week, which the Taliban need to prevent a collapse in the economy. Tehran has adopted a friendly posture toward the Taliban, unlike past relations which were marked by tensions.

Iranian officials have not yet reacted to the news. However, if Iran has made a deal with the Taliban to receive some of the American military hardware given to the Afghan army or left behind, it would claim a big victory against the United States.

The reports received so far are brief and there is no information about the kind and quantity of hardware delivered to Iran.

Pro-Antifa California teacher to be fired by school district after leaked video emerges
[FOXNEWS] A far-left Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, teacher with a hammer and sickle tattoo and an apparent affinity for Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
and brutal communist dictators will be fired after bragging on video that he was working to radicalize his students "further and further left," his employer announced Wednesday.

In a letter, the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
mas Unified School District Superintendent Chris Evans wrote that Gabriel Gipe, a social studies teacher at Inderkum High School, would be terminated after Project Veritas found Antifa and Mao Zedong posters in his classroom and recorded him talking about indoctrinating his students.

"I have 180 days to turn them into revolutionaries," he says in the recording.

That didn’t go over well with district officials.

"As of today, this teacher was placed on paid leave because of his actions and choices in the classroom," Evans wrote. "NATOmas Unified will be taking the legally required next steps to place the teacher on unpaid leave and fire the teacher."

After the Project Veritas video emerged, the district’s internal investigation found Gipe responsible for numerous violations of its code of conduct.

"Our teachers must, without bias, or favoring their own personal beliefs share facts and information around differing perspectives," Evans wrote. "This teacher crossed that line and violated that trust."

Gipe also allegedly had a collection of stamps dedicated to Communist dictators, including one of Joseph Stalin and "an insensitive phrase," which he had allegedly used to mark students’ work as complete. Other stamps had images of Fidel Castro and Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
"These were purchased shortly before the pandemic and their use was likely initially limited due to Distance Learning," Evans’ letter reads. "The district’s investigation did discover that at least during the 13 days of this school year, he was using those stamps to mark student work as complete."

District officials described Gipe’s conduct regarding giving students extra credit for attending protests with the potential to become dangerous as "both unprofessional and irresponsible."

Police arrest Antifa member who stabbed Latino man during riot at Los Angeles City Hall

member who stabbed a Latino man during an August 14 riot near LA City Hall. Eric Cohen, 30, of Long Beach, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, has been charged with attempted murder and is being held on a $1 million bail.

Cohen stabbed a man on August 14 at around 2 PM near the intersection of 1st Street and Spring Street. He allegedly used a knife to stab the victim once in the upper right chest area. The victim was later hospitalized for a lacerated heart and punctured lung.

The Antifa member and suspect changed his hair colour, following the attempted murder at the riot last month. The "Choose Freedom March" rallied to protest against the city’s "medical tyranny, mandatory vaccinations and vaccine passports." However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
they were soon met by an opposing group of Antifa, who were dressed in "black bloc" gear, who called for "no safe spaces for fascist

Afghanistan
Chris Hernandez on our Victory in Afghanistan
[Facebook post] Today I read the Democratic National Committee statement about the end of the Afghanistan War. In it, they praised President Biden for his bravery and described the end of the war in celebratory terms. So I wanted to tell you about something I experienced in Afghanistan, and how it relates.

In August of 2009 I was part of an operation to fight our way into a remote Taliban-held valley. Coalition troops had never been in that valley, according to local legend the Russians and even Brits never made it there either. The Taliban had vowed we would never set foot in their valley.

The plan was for French Marines to set positions in the mountains, then a couple hundred Afghan police plus another couple hundred Afghan Army troops, along with American embedded trainers, would force their way into the valley. The goal wasn’t to take control; if we made it in easily we were going to hold the area just long enough to make a point. If the Taliban fought hard enough to stop us we’d take some compounds and hold our ground overnight, just to show the Talibs that we could stay if we wanted to.

Calif teacher who removed US flag, suggested students pledge allegiance to pride flag removed from classroom
[FOXNEWS] A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, teacher who went viral after bragging in a TikTok video that she had taken down the American flag in her classroom because it made her feel "uncomfortable" and suggested that her students should say the Pledge of Allegiance to a rainbow flag has been removed from her classroom.

"She has been removed from the classroom and placed on administrative leave, as our investigation continues," Newport Mesa Schools spokesperson Annette Franco confirmed to Fox News Wednesday.

The teacher was identified as Kristin Pitzen of Newport Mesa Schools in Orange County.

The video, which was inaccessible on TikTok Wednesday but has been preserved by the Twitter account @libsoftiktok, lasts just under a minute and shows Pitzen telling a quick story about how the pledge works in her classroom.

"Okay, so during third period, we have announcements and they do the Pledge of Allegiance," she says in the video. "I always tell my class, stand if you feel like it, don’t stand if you feel like it, say the words if you want, don’t have to say the words."

Then she whispers that she took down the American flag in her room because "it made me uncomfortable."

In Ingushetia, tourists are advised not to wear shorts and touch women
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] Ingushetia issued a memo for tourists with recommendations on how to dress and behave so as not to offend local residents and not cause them an unwanted reaction. The rules are published on the official page of the Dzheyrakh district administration in Instagram.

In the rules of conduct, guests are advised, first of all, to monitor their appearance, not to drink alcohol, and women not to smoke, and men not to try to talk to unfamiliar women, and even more so not to touch them with their hands. A separate piece of advice concerns visiting the houses of local residents and inviting them to food. It is not customary to reject such a traditional sign of hospitality in Ingushetia in order not to offend the owner.

"Do not try to talk to unfamiliar women, do not stare at women, and even less point your hand or finger in their direction. In case you are officially introduced to a woman, do not reach out. To avoid an awkward situation, just tilt your head slightly as a sign that you are pleased to meet you," they advise men in the memo.

As for the appearance of a tourist, here women are advised not to wear tight-fitting, open and transparent clothes, "no open bellies and deep neckline." Men are warned against wearing shorts, which "in Ingushetia are only worn by children," and they are not advised to "bare their backs, let alone their breasts."

"When visiting absolutely any region of our country, it is important to know about local customs and rules of conduct. This will help to avoid embarrassing situations, as well as enjoy the trip and communication with the local population without fear of offending anyone," summarizes the recommendations in the memo.

Geelani safely underground
[EN.ALGHADEERTV.NET] Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the veteran separatist leader from Indian-administered Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
, has been laid to rest as the Indian authorities crackdown on public movement and impose a near-total communications blackout to prevent protests.

Geelani, the icon of the disputed region’s resistance against New Delhi’s rule, died late on Wednesday. He was 92.

Geelani was buried in a quiet funeral organised by the authorities under harsh restrictions, his son Naseem Geelani said.

He added the family had planned the burial at the main deaders’ graveyard in Srinagar, the region’s main city, as per his will, but "they (police) snatched his body and forcibly buried him".

"We told the administration that we will bury him at 10am so that our relatives who live in far-off areas could attend," Naseem said.

"But they took the body forcefully at 3am and did not allow any of us to take part in the last prayers. They even argued with the women in the family who resisted taking away his body."

Naseem said it was only at 10am on Thursday that the family members were allowed to see Geelani’s grave.

The Press Trust of India news agency reported that officials buried Geelani’s body and disallowed any mass funeral in anticipation of anti-India protests.

Geelani, who died on Wednesday, had been unwell for some time, his family said

Dogs abandoned by Americans will serve the Taliban
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. Russian military journalist takes a tour of the aftermath of the evacuation of the Kabul Airport
By Aleksandr Kots
[KP] "Silent Bob" (as I call the Taliban guard on duty at our home), having learned where we were going, even beamed with his usually lean face. With gestures that could not bear objection, he explained that he would accompany us on this short voyage. And they did not accept any arguments against this venture.

An uncle in a turban of indeterminate age, with a resinous beard and burning eyes, deftly jumped into the back of a pickup truck, put the bipod of a Kalashnikov machine gun on the cockpit and gestured: "Follow me."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon: Minister Says State's Permission Not Sought for Iranian Fuel
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The Lebanese government has received no request for fuel to be imported from Iran, the caretaker energy minister said on Wednesday, appearing to confirm that the Hezbollah group has bypassed the state with a move to import Iranian fuel.

Hezbollah announced last month a shipment of Iranian fuel oil was on its way to help ease crippling shortages, and has subsequently announced two more shipments.

The group has been part of the ruling system for years in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Trust them on that...
, Rooters reported.

The fuel crisis, caused by a broader financial meltdown, has forced even essential services to shut down or scale back operations.

Hezbollah's opponents say the decision has further undermined the authority of the state and exposed Lebanon to the risk of US sanctions.

The first shipment has yet to arrive, and Hezbollah has not announced details of where it will dock.

Asked about the Iranian shipment, caretaker energy minister Raymond Ghajar told journalists "our role is restricted to import permits, we did not receive a request for permission".

Asked if this meant the ship was coming without permits, Ghajar said: "No. We do not have information. Permission was not requested from us. This is all I am saying."

Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
said on Tuesday he welcomed any support, including from Iran, to help Lebanon get through its crisis.

The last video is taken from an Arma 3 game. I know a coupla Russian Arma 3 gamers, so it is not surprising one of them decided to feature this somewhere on youtube or twitch

[ColonelCassad] A very atmospheric video of a footage taken by US Marines in their final weeks at the Kabul airport.

In addition to trash with Afghans breaking into the airport, scenes of everyday life are shown + it is demonstrated how exactly the strongest army in the world destroyed the equipment thrown at the airport. A sledgehammer and a boot, the best remedy. Probably.

US Senator: Lebanon Must Not Become 'Horror Story'
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Leb

The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate faci8lity exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that...
is in free fall and must not become a "horror story", a US senator said during a visit to Beirut on Wednesday, voicing hope that a government would be formed this week to start addressing its destabilizing financial meltdown.

Another senator in the US congressional delegation said Iranian fuel being shipped to Lebanon by Hezbollah would come with strings attached, dismissing it as an attempted "photo-op by the Iranians".

"Lebanon is in free fall...We've seen this movie before and it's a horror story..., but the good news is it can, should, and hopefully will be avoided," Senator Richard Blumenthal told news hounds at the end of a two-day visit.

Lebanese politicians, who have failed to do anything to arrest the collapse, have been squabbling for more than a year over the make-up of a new cabinet to replace the one that quit in the aftermath of the Aug. 4, 2020 Beirut port explosion.

A new cabinet capable of implementing reforms is a necessary precursor to foreign aid. The United States is the biggest foreign aid donor to Lebanon.

The congressional delegation met Lebanese leaders including President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
, who expressed hope the government would be formed this week, the presidency said in a statement.

"We did hear good news today," Senator Chris Murphy (D., Qom)
...Junior senator for life from Connecticutt, foreign policy mastermind, a fast friend and a sympathetic ear to mullahs, ayatollahs, and similar riff-raff. The indigestable boilerplate on his website sez he has has dedicated his career to public service as an advocate for Connecticut families, which means approximately nothing. He's been a strong voice in the Senate fighting for job creation, affordable health care, education, sensible gun laws, and a forward-looking foreign policy. You can guess what that mess actually means, though the voters of Connecticutt seemingly can't...
, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee panel dealing with the Middle East, told news hounds, adding he expected a government would be formed by the time he returned home.

Aoun's adversaries accuse him and his faction, the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
, of obstructing the government formation by demanding a third of the seats, or effective veto power.

Aoun denies this. Aoun told the senators "many obstacles had been overcome", the presidency said.

The United States has been in talks with Egypt and Jordan over a plan to ease Lebanon's power crisis. The Lebanese presidency has said it involves using Egyptian gas to generate power in Jordan that would be transmitted via Syria, which is under US sanctions including the so-called Caesar act.

"The complication as you know is the transport via Syria," said Senator Chris Van Hollen. "We are (urgently) looking for ways to address that despite the Caesar act."

#2  Someone should remind our B-League Senators that the Egyptian Pipeline to Syria has been bombed by Egyptian Islamists more than a dozen times in the last decade. In sum, it is practically worthless. If Lebanon weren't dominated politically by Hizbollah Lebanon and Israel would now be sharing the natural gas resource developed in the Med. Hell, Lebanon already IS a 'Horror Story.'

Utah voters ready for Romney replacement, poll shows
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Utah Republicans are fed up with Sen. Willard Mitt Romney, aka Pierre Delecto
...former governor of Massachussetts, the Publican nominee for president in 2012, now Senator from Utah. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney has a record as a successful businessman, heading Bain Capital, and he rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from the midst of bribery and mismanagement scandals. He is currently a trans Republican and a member in good standing of the Never Trump Party, attempting to assume the mantle of the late John McCain...
, according to a survey released on Wednesday.

A poll from OH Predictive Insights found 63% of registered Republican voters in the state would rather have someone else from the party representing them, compared to 35% who stand with Mr. Romney, the party’s 2012 presidential nominee.

"In the 2012 Presidential election, Mitt Romney earned the largest share of the vote in Utah of any Republican presidential candidate since Reagan in 1984," said Mike Noble, chief of research for OH Predictive Insights. "The data shows that Utahns’ opinions have flipped since 2012 — with two-thirds of GOP voters preferring a Republican senator other than Mitt Romney, he is more vulnerable than ever in a primary election."
I don't know if Utah voters are ready for a replacement, but I know most of the rest of us are.

International Airport in Kabul, was used to covertly get hundreds of US nationals and at least 1,000 Afghan commandos and their families out of the country, Politico reported, citing flight documents and three highly placed sources.

The evacuees were instructed to head out to the base in order to avoid security risks and the general chaos outside the airport, which was flooded by locals after the Afghan capital was seized by the Taliban

on August 15. The diplomats communicated directly with US nationals, including when the embassy was urging Americans to stay away from the airport in the light of growing terrorist threats.

Some people were flown from the base by helicopters to the Kabul airport and later airlifted to Germany, Politico said. A CIA spokesperson declined to comment on the operation of the website.

Overall, more than 124,000 people were flown out of Kabul during the last two weeks of August, according to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, US Army General Mark Milley.

#1  Supports the PJ Media State Depart Turf Wars article in today's Burg.

In addition to the internal DoS chaos, there appears there is or was also a rift between DoS, the Army, and the Klingons. Not sure where the White House falls in all of this, but I suspect they were firmly in the DoS camp, continuing to push Biden's 9/11 anniversary media event.

The intel people and some coalition partners saw the fall of AFG coming and took appropriate Non-Combatant Evacuation (NEO) action from Eagle Base and elsewhere. Perhaps the lessons of Benghazi were clearly in focus.

The finger pointing may soon intensify. Books to be published detailing this one.

#9  The story told about in the Vanity Fair article -- about Blinken's refusal to continue elevating a brilliant, extraordinarily successful contingency/crisis response team -- is appalling. Blinken and his boss are criminally incompetent.

Blame for the worst screwup in our lifetimes falls squarely on their shoulders. The root cause of the disaster was Team Biden's stubborn and inexplicable hostility to the CCR team.

Why? No doubt, because it was a Trump admin success story. CCR's elevation was championed by Mike Oimpeo, Trump's Secretary of State.

IOW, Biden

a) politicized the timing of the Afghan withdrawal so he could (so he thought) reap the political benefits of a self-congratulatory, 9/11 anniversary speech, and

b) through his deputy at State, degraded an extraordinarily capable, proven successful contingency and crusts response group that was completely prepared and resourced and ready to ensure a smooth and successful evacuation of all our civilians and the special immigrant visa Afghans as well.

So we've just witnessed the degradation of yet another major American institution by the Woke wrecking crew.

F--- these bastards.
This is beyond gross incompetence. This is treason.

Biden claim to visit Tree of Life Synagogue - Synagogue says it didn't happen
[NYPost] President Biden on Thursday told Jewish leaders that he spent time at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh after the October 2018 mass murder of 11 people there; but the synagogue told The Post he never visited.

"I remember spending time at the, you know, going to the, you know, the Tree of Life synagogue, speaking with them," Biden said in a 16-minute virtual address ahead of the Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Barb Feige, executive director of the Tree of Life, said that Biden did not visit the synagogue in the nearly three years since the anti-Semitic attack.

In a phone interview, Feige, executive director since July 2019, said firmly that "no" Biden didn't visit, even before taking office when he had a lower public profile as a former vice president and then-Democratic presidential candidate.
This is at least the 50th time Biden has made up stuff about himself.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The Maxim Gun in Russia: The Early Years
By David M. Fortier

[FirearmsNews] Very few inventions have had the impact on warfare as the Maxim gun. In a relatively short amount of time Hiram Maxim’s famous machine gun design not only became a staple of armies around the world but it helped change the face of modern warfare. Its distinctive tat-tat-tat-tat-tat brought an end to 19th Century tactics, and proved time and time again out-of-touch staff officers, ineptly led conscripts, courage and élan were no match for interlocking machine gun fire. Perhaps the greatest cinematic tribute to the effectiveness of the Maxim machine gun is the 37-second scene in Lewis Milestone’s 1930 film “All Quiet on the Western Front”. For 37 seconds the viewer is given a barbed wire view as multiple German MG 08 machine guns, with their distinctive staccato chattering on without end, effortlessly cuts down an endless stream of courageous French infantry. In reality, the carnage was much worse than what could be shown on the silver screen. The Maxim gun, and quick-firing field artillery, forced even the bravest of the brave to burrow deep into the earth to escape their wrath.

Maxim guns were fielded by both sides during the Great War and one notable early adopter was Imperial Russia. By the time the Guns of August sounded, Russia had considerable practical experience with the Maxim, and perhaps some of the best gun crews in the world. Russian gun crews had been stacking bodies ten years earlier while most of Europe was still trying to figure out what exactly to do with the new contraption. The Maxim gun would go on to live a long life in Russia, and served through many wars both large and small. To begin our look at this famous design’s life in Russia though, we must begin our journey on the other side of the Atlantic, in rural Maine, the home of its inventor, Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim.

Trust them on that...
's gang Hezbollah will be delivered via Syria by truck to avoid complications related to sanctions, two sources with knowledge of the mater said on Thursday.

The Iran-backed Hezbollah announced last month that a shipment of Iranian fuel oil was on its way to help ease crippling shortages in Lebanon.

Hezbollah's critics in Lebanon have warned of dire consequences from the purchase, saying it risked sanctions being imposed on a country whose economy has been in meltdown for nearly two years.

"Choosing to receive the vessel via Syria is not related to any fear of targeting by Israel or the US but is due to internal considerations related to not wanting to implicate any allies," one source told Rooters.

Lebanon's caretaker energy minister has said his government did not receive any requests for import permits for Iranian fuel.

The sources said the shipment would arrive at a Syrian port and then be trucked to Lebanon, with the first priority being to deliver fuel oil to hospitals for power generation.

A report in local newspaper al-Akhbar on Thursday said the vessel had entered Syrian waters but the tracking service TankerTrackers.com disputed the report.

Lebanon: Berri Criticizes Aoun, Calls for Forming Cabinet Without Veto Power
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Leb

In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate faci8lity exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that...
’s Parliament Speaker, Nabih Knobby Berri
...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
, criticized President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
over the government deadlock and called for forming a new cabinet in which the president has no veto power.

Berri also lashed at Aoun’s son-in-law and the head of the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
, MP Gebran Bassil
...arrogant, overbearing son-in-law of Michel Aoun, a Hezbollah suck-ass and wannabe Bashir al-Assad who plans on being president of what's left of Leb as soon as the old man's dead and the votes have been phonied up...
, without naming him, denouncing his threats to withdraw from Parliament.

"For whose benefit is the threat of resignation from Parliament?" Berri asked.

He added: "We will not be false witnesses to the mass execution of the Lebanese people." The speaker was referring to earlier comments made by Bassil, who hinted that his bloc might withdraw from Parliament.

In a televised speech on the 43rd anniversary of the disappearance of the founder of Amal Movement, Imam Musa al-Sadr, Berri said: "Fear and anxiety this time over Lebanon are from the inside and not from the outside."

"We are facing an attempt to hijack Lebanon and bring it down from within," he warned.

He also called for speeding up the formation of the government, which should focus on addressing the fuel crisis, reviving the judiciary and security agencies to combat corruption, and holding the parliamentary elections on time.

Berri went on to say that a new government should be formed without a blocking third, referring to Aoun’s reported insistence on having a share in the cabinet that guarantees his allies’ right to veto ministerial decisions, despite the Presidential Palace’s denial.

The speaker also spoke of the Beirut port explosion, saying: "We were the first to extend a helping hand to the families of the deaders, and we affirmed that there is no immunity that covers any person involved" in the Aug. 2020 blast.

He added: "The judicial investigator is required to implement the laws, starting with the Constitution."

The Muslim terrorist attack in Garland Texas you haven't heard of
[WeaselZippers] Is Texas Shooting The Start Of Biden Fueled Terrorism Surge?
Via Issues Insights:

A cold-blooded murder in a city northeast of Dallas over the weekend hasn't exactly made national news — yet. But it could be the first in a new wave of terrorist attacks spawned by President Joe Biden's disastrous retreat from Afghanistan.

On Sunday, the day before the last U.S. military plane departed the Kabul airport, a gunman shot and killed a Lyft driver in Garland, then drove the car over to a nearby police station and started shooting at the people inside. The alleged gunman, later identified as Imran Ali Rasheed, died after police gunned him down.

The next day, an FBI arse hat official said that Rasheed "may have been inspired by a foreign terrorist organization to commit these crimes," by which he meant "was inspired by rhetoric or propaganda by Islamic foreign terrorist organizations.
Any else want to chip in for a pig skin coffin?
Closing paragraph from the linked Issues & Insights editorial:
But if the shooting death in Texas was inspired by the Taliban’s and ISIS-K’s victories, it won’t be the last. In addition to being responsible for the deaths of Americans in Kabul, and the fate of Americans now stranded in Afghanistan, Biden should be held responsible for any increase in Islamic terrorist activity, here and abroad.
