[ConservativeTreehouse] Employees at the General Electric Complex in Greenville, South Carolina, along with 750 GE employees in Ohio, conducted a walk out around 10:45am Thursday to protest the company’s vaccine mandate. Media have mostly been silent except for a few local reports.

Here in Florida, DeSantis is promoting a law that says "Employers equiring vaccine to work will be on the hook for any medical problems." Dems will counter with every trained worker who quits will be billed for "training" their employer did.
Remember when everyone just tried to get along for mutual advantage?

So-in-law, a doctor with the VA, is going to finally get vaccinated next week in order to keep his job. His assessment of his personal risk would not support it but his analysis of financial risks does. He is still not vaccinating his kids, and leaving my daughter's decision up to her.
[CampusReform] Teaching and Learning of Mathematics in Grades PreK-5
Campus Reform obtained a copy of the syllabus for the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics in Grades PreK-5 course. In a section called "Professor Smucker’s Accountability to You," the professor outlines questions students should use to "hold [her] and this course accountable for [their] education."
"Does my methods instruction address the racial and cultural mismatch of the largely white teacher population and increasingly non-white student population in the US?," the syllabus reads.
This POS company & concept just cratered - who coulda seen it coming?
[Zero Hedge] - Confirming yesterday's observation that the market is quick and merciless to punish any and all stocks that miss expectations this quarter, moments ago (former growth stock) Beyond Meat plunged 14% after reporting preliminary net revenue for third quarter of about $106 million, missing the estimate of $134.3 million by about 30%, and a huge disappointment to the company's prior guidance which was $120 million to $140 million.
As Bloomberg notes, while the Company’s previous third quarter guidance anticipated a sequential decline in net revenues, the deceleration was far larger than anticipated. "We really bit the big one this quarter!"
The company said that multiple factors contributed to the shortfall during the quarter:
* Demand was impacted by broader ongoing macro and micro-economic factors, including among others, the effects of the COVID-19 Delta variant
* Challenges in operations that led to unfulfilled orders
* Company experienced decrease in retail orders that persisted longer than expected from a Canadian distributor * It's NOT meat
None of this mattered to investors who now sees just round after round of excuses from the management team, which will soon be on the chopping block unless it manages to restore some of the company's previous growth.

"The company said that multiple factors contributed to the shortfall during the quarter:"
They forgot two:
* The product does not taste like meat
* Vegetarians prefer to virtue signal their diet and looking like you are eating a burger is the opposite of that. So there is no real market beyond the curious.

The overall problem is, after telling us for years that 'processed foods' are bad, people aren't willing to go for food products that are by definition 100% processed.

Unexpectedly, something that tastes like $#!+ doesn't sell well. Plus, what is it with veegans wanting a meat substitute? Seems like a contradiction. Why is this not considered "processed food"? We are definitely in the "Crazy Years"!

SB, you can take as a parallel to fake meat, the story of turkey "ham". As in the smoke cured dark meat turkey in place of a pork product.

yes the first and second generation of meat substitutes have been inferior in taste to real meat
but just wait a few years and you carnivores may change your mind
even today the impossible meat is selling reasonably well - Denny's and Burger King have pretty substantial sales of the product

[NY Post] An Afghan volleyball player on the girls’ national team was beheaded by the Taliban — with gruesome photos of her severed head posted on social media, according to her coach.
Mahjabin Hakimi, one of the best players in the Kabul Municipality Volleyball Club, was slaughtered in the capital city of Kabul as troops searched for female sports players, her coach told the Persian Independent.
She was killed earlier this month, but her death remained mostly hidden because her family had been threatened not to talk, claimed the coach, using a pseudonym, Suraya Afzali, due to safety fears.
Images of Hakimi’s severed neck were published on Afghan social media, according to the paper, which did not say how old she was.
Conflicting reports online suggested that happened earlier, with an apparent death certificate suggesting she was killed Aug. 13 — the final days of the Taliban’s insurgency before seizing Kabul.
However, the Payk Investigative Journalism Center said its sources also confirmed that Hakimi "was ’beheaded’ by the Taliban in Kabul." The governing group has yet to comment, Payk Media said.
Afzali told the Persian Independent that she was speaking out to highlight the risk that female sports players face, with only two of the women’s national volleyball team having managed to flee the country.
"All the players of the volleyball team and the rest of the women athletes are in a bad situation and in despair and fear," she told the paper. "Everyone has been forced to flee and live in unknown places."

Yet another urban setting where residents are beset by ammunition shortages and law enforcement meddling.
[FrontPage] After a few years of the widespread tearing-down of statues honoring American heroes such as the Great Emancipator Abraham Lincoln, Founding Father George Washington, and anti-slavery giant Frederick Douglass, recently a few new statues went up for a change. Massive golden busts of the late, far-left Congressman John Lewis and Black Lives Matter icons George Floyd and Breonna Taylor were erected in Manhattan's Union Square.
Lewis arguably achieved something in his life — albeit in the service of communism. Floyd and Taylor, however, are being venerated not because of any extraordinary accomplishments, but because their deaths in police-involved incidents were successfully exploited by the Marxist revolutionaries of Black Lives Matter to inflame racial rage and demonize police officers all across the country as genocidal bigots, even though there is zero evidence that racism was a factor in either death. Floyd, now an international symbol of racist police brutality, was an inveterate criminal and drug addict who died of a fentanyl overdose while being restrained by police for resisting arrest. Breonna Taylor died when police who were entering her darkened apartment with a search warrant returned fire after her drug-dealing boyfriend began shooting at them.

I blame it on the Socialcrats:
BAN THE GUN agenda and their attacks on the Bill Of Rights every time they are in power.
Couple this with their history of Tinkle Poor Economy Mgt. skills and adding $ Trillions to the National debt to Bankrupt the US and move to Socialist Dictatorship.
Now add all those together, plus a 3% to 4% illegal population with different cultural practices, toss in illegal Civil Rights restrictive Pandemic measures and you have a ticked off citizenry.
The question should be: How long before some NUT JOB decides to take it out on DC and not his neighbor?

...oh, oh, but you can't do that cause its racist don't you know. Ignore the truth and then think you can come up with mitigating programs ain't going to happen.
By the way, did you correlate how the guns were obtained with the shootings? Simple thing like the shooter was not qualified in the first place to be carrying a gun raises the question that if it is already illegal how does any law or program stop them getting one? Ah, too simple.

[IsraelTimes] UK authorities say Ali Harbi Ali began planning to kill two other politicians two years ago, ended up targeting Amess because he supported Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s in Syria.
Prosecutors said Thursday that a 25-year-old man accused of stabbing British politician David Amess to death was an Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... supporter who plotted for two years to kill a politician.
Ali Harbi Ali, a man from London with Somali heritage, had "religious and ideological motivations" when he attacked Amess last week in the town of Leigh-on-Sea, prosecutors said. They alleged that Ali targeted Amess, a member of the Conservative party, because the politician had voted for airstrikes on Syria, though he initially planned attacks on other MPs.
The slaying took place as Amess, who was 69, attended a routine meeting with his constituents. His killing shook a nation accustomed to having face-to-face contact with its leaders, heightened concerns about extremism and rattled British politicians, who say they face increasing levels of vitriol and abuse as they perform their jobs.
Ali was arrested at the scene of the killing in Leigh-on-Sea, east of London, last Friday. He was charged with murder and preparing acts of terrorism.
He appeared in court in central London wearing a grey tracksuit and thick-rimmed glasses, speaking only to confirm his name, age and address at the 13-minute hearing. He was not asked to enter a plea and was ordered detained until the next hearing.
At the hearing, prosecutor James Cable said Ali began planning to kill a politician two years ago, and initially focused on two other politicians before choosing Amess.
Nick Price of the Crown Prosecution Service said the murder "has a terrorist connection, namely that it had both religious and ideological motivations."
Matt Jukes, the Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner for Specialist Operations, said "no other arrests have been made and at this time we are not seeking anybody else in relation to this incident."
Jukes said detectives had analyzed computers, searched several London addresses and reviewed CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

[TASS] Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it monstrous that in the West children are taught that a boy can become a girl and vice versa. The Russian leader said this during the Valdai Forum in Sochi. He ain't wrong.
Putin is surprised that moving away from concepts such as "mom" and "dad" of different genders is perceived in the West as progress.
"As a matter of fact, children are taught the choice that everyone has. Forcing the child to make a decision that could ruin his life. And they do not even consult with child psychologists, whether the child is able to make such decisions or not. These are just crimes against humanity. And everything is under the banner of progress," the Russian leader said.
On October 18-21, 2021, Sochi is hosting the XVIII Annual Meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club. Putin has traditionally met with forum participants since its inception in 2004.
Putin's main statements at Valdai are broadcast by Gazeta.Ru.
[VK] Revolutions are caused by the crisis, but they are not able to solve it. This was announced on October 21 by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club, a REGNUM correspondent reports.
According to the Russian leader, the revolution only exacerbates the problems in the country. To prove his words, he cited the events that took place in the Russian Empire in 1917 and in the USSR in 1991.
“To break is not to build. And we in Russia are well aware of this - more than 100 years ago, Russia objectively experienced serious problems, but no more than other countries, and maybe on a smaller scale, and could gradually solve them. But the revolutionary upheavals led to the breakdown, the disintegration of the great country.
History repeated itself 30 years ago, when a potentially powerful power did not embark on the path of flexible, but thoughtful transformations in time and as a result fell victim to dogmatists of various kinds and reactionaries and so-called progressives - everyone tried, on both sides.
A revolution is not a way out of a crisis, but an aggravation of the crisis, ”Putin said.

30 years....
Anyone want to explain the justice in this?
My Suggestion: The US court system needs a overhaul to be FAIR and Simplified.
Lawyers should be given 5 years to file all their appeals.
Instead of stringing them out to file, just months before each new delayed execution date.
Then we need to also have a USC law that states.
If a person is wrongfully convicted and/or executed based on deliberately withheld evidence beneficial to the defendant, or knowingly presents False Evidence against the defendant. Then all those doing so will arrested and tried in court. The sentence to be equal to the handed down sentence plus allow the recovery of up to 10x's all expenses incurred and/or loss of income by the defendant.

This off-shore container ship anchoring is a bugger. But, let's see.... just permit me if you will, to jot down a list of current shelf shortages items. Just the obvious.
Let's begin with things like automotive chips, children's toys, meds, clothing and shoes, furniture and the like. Perhaps we can soon discover which items really need to be manufactured right here in the United States.
Probably an over simplification of the problem, but I have a simple mind.

So Guard will have to prove vaccinations. 350,000 military have been dishonorably discharged so far. This is a pipe dream. Tractors used are required to be no older than three years to work California docks. Original reason for refusing entry was because Biden didn't want them bringing in Covid. Suppliers I have talked to are saying shortages and prices are only going to get much worse. Don't believe what I have said here. Just watch and see as these things worsen.
I must say here that I spoke to an old timer GP Doctor still active in his practice. Exposure is the key. Natural immunity is the answer. Offshoring manufacturing base because of low per unit cost even after transportation was the key factor in the rush to China. CUrrency manipulation by the CHinese kept the game going until our capital investment in factories and production facilities was complete and domestic equivalents were closed. Now, a few decades later, poof, the per unit cost is far, far, greater than a domestic version, but the sunk cost of capital investment makes re-industrialization inside the US risky if democrats and marxists remain in power frequently. So, we have become a client state to the Middle Kingdom. This is how the long game is played folks, and our leaders are either complicit through corruption, or just sophomoric thinkers, ignorant and unable to see that this has been planned and developed by China and its allies here.

Coupla points:
First, the TEU boxes have to be unloaded from the ships and stacked.
Then they get moved and sorted by forktruck into other stacks. Sometimes 1&2 get telescoped into one op, but that slows down ship unloading.
Third step, if it's local (less than say, 300 miles) it goes on a truck. There's a new Cal choke point here.
Alternately, and maybe also, for long range they have to be loaded on rail. In Cal, this is also a choke.
Meanwhile, the ships have to be reloaded with empty boxes to go back. The drop yards are full, and they're starting to park them on the streets. No kidding.
It ain't over by a long shot. Minimum 6 mos to clear this cluster.

"Here's a simple plan that @POTUS and @GavinNewsom partnered with the private sector, labor, truckers, and everyone else in the chain must implement TODAY to overwhelm the bottleneck and create yard space at the ports so we can operate again.
1) Executive order effective immediately overriding the zoning rules in Long Beach and Los Angeles to allow truck yards to store empty containers up to six high instead of the current limit of 2. Make it temporary for ~120 days.
This will free up tens of thousands of chassis that right now are just storing containers on wheels. Those chassis can immediately be taken to the ports to haul away the containers
2) Bring every container chassis owned by the national guard and the military anywhere in the US to the ports and loan them to the terminals for 180 days.
3) Create a new temporary container yard at a large (need 500+ acres) piece of government land adjacent to an inland rail head within 100 miles of the port complex.
4) Force the railroads to haul all containers to this new site, turn around and come back. No more 1500 mile train journeys to Dallas. We're doing 100 mile shuttles, turning around and doing it again. Truckers will go to this site to get containers instead of the port.
5) Bring in barges and small container ships and start hauling containers out of long beach to other smaller ports that aren't backed up. "

I've hiked near there. The Merced is a very steep canyon and gets sun blasted in mid-summer. They committed to a 8+ miles loop hike that is downhill first. You've got to pay attention to the map or read one of the longer stories to realize they'd already covered 6-7 miles and were coming up out of an exposed canyon with a surface temperature of 107+ degrees. Not enough water and poor terrain knowledge became a death sentence, no toxic fumes or algae required.

[Rudaw] Seven Syrian families from Deir ez-Zor were released from al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria (Rojava) on Wednesday to return to their place of origin following an agreement between the Kurdish administration and tribal chiefs. The group totalled to 27 people, including 13 children.
According to Munir Mohammad, an official overseeing the process of releasing camp residents, 62 more families were expected to return to Deir ez-Zor on Wednesday, but due to tensions between security forces in the camp and the families, the process stopped. It is not clear what caused the tension. This is the 19th time that residents of Syrian and Iraqi nationality have been allowed to leave the camp.
The camp was opened in 2016 to house the families of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. [DW] Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Slovenia said their EU-wide initiative to expand the bloc's military units was inspired by recent events in Afghanistan.
If they manage to pull together enough spare parts to keep their equipment repaired, enough bullets to drill skills as well as shoot the enemy, and enough transport to get to the battlefield du jour, I’d be willing to call that a win.
Germany and four members of the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... have launched an initiative to establish a bloc-wide rapid reaction force for future military crises, the German news agency dpa reported on Thursday.
The initiative, which also draws in Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Slovenia, aims to expand the existing EU battle groups, which are multinational military units of 1,500 personnel each on standby to respond to crises.
The new force is expected to include space and cyber capabilities, along with special forces and air transport.
The five countries said recent events in Afghanistan have shown that the EU must be able to act swiftly, according to a document cited by dpa.
To this end, the availability, readiness, deployability and competence of the forces had to be improved, the document added.
FORCE COULD ACTIVATE DORMANT EU TREATY ARTICLE
...which shows what treaty articles of this sort are worth...
In order to provide greater flexibility, the five states also proposed using Article 44 of the EU Treaty, which has never been activated before.
The article allows coalitions of willing member states to carry out security activities with the permission of other non-participating countries.
The plan also calls on EU member states to utilize more regional cooperation arrangements. It does not, however, make any specific proposals on the size of the force in terms of personnel.
The document says that the land-based forces should be of brigade strength, or about 5,000 troops.
The current battle group concept provides for two units, each with around 1,500 troops, to be on standby, with forces from different member states rotating every six months.
GERMAN DEFENSE MINISTER WELCOMES PROPOSAL
German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer seemed optimistic about the proposal. In an interview with German broadcaster Deutschlandfunk, she said that although EU forces within NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... cannot function without the support of the United States, the reaction force would offer an addition, but not a replacement for US forces.
[REDSTATE] Rep. Liz Cheney ...Faux Republican hereditary congresswoman-for-life from Wyoming. She has been described as Republican royalty. A staunch Never Trumper, Liz supported the second impeachment of Donald Trump for his role in the 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol. Publicans dumped her from her leadership position in May 2021. Refusing to admit that she had trashed her own career, Cheney has said that she intends to be the leader... in a fight to help to restore our party and that she may be interested in a future presidential run.... (RINO-WY) claimed during the anti-Trump/Democrat Jan. 6 Committee proceedings that President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... exercising his executive privilege indicated that he was "personally involved" in planning the riot.
As we previously reported, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene just nuked Cheney over that, pointing out that no one cares what Cheney has to say, which is certainly true, especially when she goes all-in with the Democrats.
But Cheney’s assertion also shows that she doesn’t care about basic rights and privileges established by our system. She’s actually saying that exercising one’s rights is an indication that someone is guilty, a very upending of those rights. And she has no evidence to back this up. It also shows what a joke the committee is — a completely biased effort. Some protecting of norms there, Liz.
As my colleague Mike Miller observed, Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. The nincompoop who dumped Afghanistan. The copier doesdn't exist that could reelect him.... not fighting to protect that right is an indication, as well, of how political he is. He shouldn’t get to argue away President Donald Trump’s right.
Now, why if you are innocent would you still exercise these rights? Gee, I don’t know, maybe because we’ve seen what Democrats have done with the effort to attack Trump, actually spreading lies about Russia collusion. We know that anything, even something innocent, would be spun. The whole purpose of this isn’t truth — it’s about trying to attack Trump and keep him from running again.
But the whole argument also fails based on the information that we already know. As we previously reported, Trump requested 10,000 National Guard troops to be available for Jan. 6 two days before. Why would he do that if he were personally involved in some kind of greater organized attack? That doesn’t even make any sense. Of course, on that day, he had urged people to act peacefully.

[CNN] Afghanistan's new Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... rulers won backing from 10 regional powers at talks in Moscow on Wednesday for the idea of a United Nations ...boodling on the grand scale... donor conference to help the country stave off economic collapse and a humanitarian catastrophe.
Russia, China, Pakistain, India, Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... and five formerly Soviet Central Asian states joined the Taliban in calling for the UN to convene such a conference as soon as possible to help rebuild the country.
They said it should take place "with the understanding, of course, that the main burden...should be borne by the forces whose military contingents have been present in this country over the past 20 years."
That was a pointed reference to the United States and its allies, who invaded Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001 attacks and whose abrupt withdrawal paved the way for the Islamist Taliban to seize back control of the country in August.
Washington chose not to attend the talks, citing technical reasons, but has said it may join future rounds.
Russia has led the calls for international aid, conscious that any spillover of conflict from Afghanistan could threaten regional stability.
"Nobody is interested in the complete paralysis of an entire state, which borders, among other things, the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States)," said Kremlin front man Dmitry Peskov.
The Taliban's resurgence has stirred international fears of a return to their hardline form of Islamist rule in the 1990s, when they hosted the late Osama bin Laden ...... who is no longer with us, and won't be again...... 's al Qaeda movement and carried out egregious human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... violations, including public stonings and the marginalization of women at work and in schools.
The member states in their joint statement promised to respect the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.
The Moscow Format hosted by Russia was attended by Pakistan, Iran, India, China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan concluded on Wednesday, October 20.
The statement reads that in order for the Taliban to gain recognition, the must for a truly inclusive government the one which also a prerequisite for national reconciliation.
The joint statement though praises the Taliban’s pledges over Afghanistan’s soil not to be used against any country, asked the de-facto authorities in Kabul to pursue a moderate and wise internal and foreign policy, be friendly to Afghanistan’s neighbor states.
“It is important that the Taliban seek friendly relations with neighbor states to achieve the shared goals of durable peace, security, safety, and long-term prosperity and respect the rights of ethnic groups, women, and children.” Reads the joint statement.
The member states of the Moscow Format expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and promised to convene a broad-based donor conference as soon as possible.
Deputy Minister of information and culture and spokesperson of the Taliban Zabiullah Mujahid on his Twitter posts said that the Afghan delegation made different pledges with the countries’ delegations.
“Both sides promised to gather a bilateral gathering on electricity, Water, and bilateral trades ties in near future.” Said Mujahid in a twitter post.
“The Indian side in their meeting with Abdul Salaam Hanafi promised to provide Afghan people with humanitarian aids.” Reads a twitter post of Mujahid.
The Taliban are seem to be focusing on economic relations with regional countries as the country is feared to plunge into a humanitarian crisis if economic woes are not addressed.
NATO to convene meeting on Afghanistan in Brussels

The meeting is reportedly being held in headquarter of NATO, Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
The defense ministers of NATO state members will discuss potential terror threats evolving from Afghanistan.

[VK] Tankers of the Southern Military District in a training battle were supported by mobile fire groups operating on armored vehicles.
Tankers of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in the exercise in the Rostov region were supported by mobile fire groups operating on armored vehicles.
At the combined-arms training ground, the Kadamovsky units of the guards tank regiment, in cooperation with the crews of unmanned aerial vehicles, suppressed the fire weapons of the imaginary enemy.
To inflict a sudden fire defeat in a defensive tank battle, for the first time, "nomadic" fire weapons were used, mortars 2S12 "Sani", automatic easel grenade launchers AGS-17, mounted on armored tractors MT-LB.
As part of the reconnaissance and fire complex, sniper pairs armed with high-powered ASVK-M rifles also operated.
Fire support for the tankers was provided by the attached crews of the Mi-35M and Mi-28N army aviation helicopters.
The exercise took place within the framework of a bilateral command and staff exercise (KSHU) for command and control of the district's troops in the South-Western strategic direction under the leadership of the commander of the Southern Military District, Army General Alexander Dvornikov.
In total, within the framework of the command and control system, about 8,000 servicemen were involved in practical actions at 25 training grounds in the Southern Military District, about 350 units of weapons and military equipment from the combined-arms armies, air force and air defense formations, formations and units of combat arms and special forces of district subordination, the forces of the Black Sea Fleet and the KFl were involved.

The fact that the DP and Director were both hit says to me that they were probably actually filming when it happened. If so the investigation will be short.

Three things you will not see or hear about this incident:
1. A comment about Alec, in Spanish, from his wife
2. A comment from anti-gun fanatic David Hogg
3. An SNL skit making fun of Alec similar to when Dick Cheney accidental shot a fellow hunter
#17
The rounds were actual ammo. Not blanks. It occurred during rehearsal, not the filming itself. If Baldwin was not anti-gun but was a gun enthusiast he would know how potentially deadly any gun is and check everything is safe because in they rehearsal or actual scene you are pointing the gun at another person.
Lastly, Baldwin should not be the one or at least the only one charged with involuntary manslaughter. The equipment manager or staff who actually brought a loaded gun onto the set and handed it to an actor who does not like/use/know guns should do the time.

Reminder of how Brandon Lee was killed on set.
Ever since the tragic 1993 death of 28-year-old Brandon Lee on the set of The Crow, procedures involving the use of firearms in movies and television tightened to where, if followed, they are foolproof.
In the case of Brandon Lee, a real revolver was used. According to various reports, here’s what happened… The camera shot required that a revolver look loaded. This meant the camera had to see bullets in the cylinder. The special effects crew removed the gun powder from the rounds, replaced the bullets, but failed to remove the primer that explodes to explode the gun powder.
This gun was fired, and the small explosion of the primer was enough to push one of the bullets into the barrel. No one noticed it there. In the next scene, this same gun was loaded with blanks. These are rounds with gun powder but no bullets that, when fired, create the noise, flash, and kickback of a real gunshot. The blank was fired at Brandon; the bullet that had been jammed in the barrel came out with enough force to lodge in his abdomen and kill him.
No one was criminally charged on the set. Brandon Lee's death was rulled an accident.
However, this may result in charges because actual live rounds unmodified WERE brought on set.

There are reports that immediately after the deadly shooting, Baldwin kept asking, “Why was I handed a hot gun? In all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun.”
#22
Baldwin released a statement Friday morning, saying,
"There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."

The fact that two people were injured/killed is weird to me. Unless there were 2 bad or 2 live rounds. Also, the scene would have required him to shoot twice at two different people in rapid succession because after the first one was hit everything would have stopped. You guys on this board know that it is tough for a novice shooter to hit 2 moving targets at any reasonable distance when shooting rapidly.
Seems like an accident from the reactions of the parties but they are, after all, actors…

That's what I was picturing, a pass through, but have not seen anything about platform, caliber, or distance.
Could have been a total fluke, just shooting thataway. That happens. However, if this was a practice for the scene, it could be these two were instructing Baldwin where to point and/or determining the best camera framing and position.

[DW] Pakistain has historically been supportive of the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... and has maintained good ties with the group, but a rift in relations has begun to appear in the past few months. What are the reasons behind it?
"They [the Taliban] won't turn against Islamabad. The are basically Pakistain's proxies," the expert said.
In late September, a little over a month after taking control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, Taliban fighters stopped a Pak truck at the Torkham border crossing and removed the country's flag from it.

[KhaamaPress] Pakistain’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi arrived in Kabul along with ISI chief Faiz Hameed on Friday, October 21. Mahmoud Qureshi is said to be meeting with senior Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... officials talking over bilateral issues, crossing-points management, aid to Afghanistan, and the issue of Afghan soil not being used by terror groups.
This is the third foreign minister visiting Kabul after the Taliban takeover.
Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Amir Khan Motaqi welcomed them in Kabul International Airport.
“This visit is set to (find out) how to help the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... and step-by-step to show the world that we don’t have any other choice but to work with the Taliban and recognize the Taliban. The Pak government is trying a lot so that the Taliban can have a good stance," said Jawid Sangdal, an international relations expert.
The Torkham gate was also reopened for travelers on Thursday.
Prior to this visit, some Pak officials arrived in Afghanistan, including the former head of the Pakistain Inter-Services Intelligence ...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir... , Faiz Hameed, in August.

[Just the News] The Justice Department's chief watchdog said Thursday he was certain that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe lied on multiple occasions during an investigation and that the decision to fire him had nothing to do with politics.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz reacted to the Biden administration's decision to restore McCabe's pension years after he was terminated by the DOJ.
Horowitz told Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) that career officials, not political appointees, made the decision to fire McCabe back in 2018 for lying during a leak investigation.
"Mr. McCabe lied both under oath and not under oath on several occasions when he denied at various points certain facts and information, including who was the source of that leak," Horowitz testified.
"We stand by our findings," he added at another point in his testimony.
Asked if there was any pressure from then-President Donald Trump or other political officials that influenced the investigation or termination of McCabe, Horowitz answered: "Absolutely none."
Horowitz said he did not want DOJ or FBI officials to believe that just because McCabe got his pension back that employees can escape punishment for wrongdoing. McCabe just did that.

[The Last Refuge] The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the third quarter review of average weekly wages [Main Data Here]. The results of the year-over-year comparison should alarm everyone. This is a very serious data point that likely means we are in a recession, it just has not been quantified yet.
By now, everyone knows the term "stagflation", which means a stagnant economy and large inflation (price increases), the easiest comparison is Jimmy Carter economic program in the 1970’s. However, let me assure you what this latest BLS release foretells is not that. This is far more serious than stagflation. I am not an alarmist, but I am encouraging everyone to take this economic data seriously.
Weekly wages went up a sum total of seven bucks [$7/1,000 = 0.7%] year over year. THAT is ridiculously low. However, worse yet look at all the categories of workers who saw an actual decline in wages. This is not a decline in wage value, this is an actual decline in net wages earned. WAGES HAVE DROPPED !
This is not only saying wages are failing to keep up with inflation, that part is beyond obvious, the data shows actual declines in wages for full time workers. This is far more concerning, check that.... this is four alarm fire — running around the neighborhood naked and panicked level concerning... when you take actual declines in wages and factor in the September inflation numbers
#3
Have to disagree. The senior workers would be predominantly white. The wage table shows that only whites slightly increased their wages. All other groups wages dropped. That is before inflation is taken into account.
#4
I don't think you can properly infer seniority from this data.
BTW, black women had a increase in wage rate while Asians, both women and men had significant declines
This may be due to the industry they are in. For example, workers in nail salons, beauty shops and hair styling shops may be limited in the hours they are allowed to work or limited by how long they can wear a mask.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... struck several journalists to prevent media coverage of a women's rights protest in Kabul on Thursday.
A group of about 20 women marched from near the ministry of education to the ministry of finance in the Afghan capital.
Wearing colourful headscarves they rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud including: "Don't politicise education", as traffic drove by shortly before 10 am.
The women held placards saying: "We don't have the rights to study and work", and" "Joblessness, poverty, hunger", as they walked with their arms in the air.
The Taliban authorities allowed the women to walk freely for around an hour and a half, AFP journalists saw.
However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... one foreign journalist was struck with the butt of a rifle by one Taliban fighter, who swore and kicked the photographer in the back as another punched him. At least two more journalists were hit as they scattered, pursued by Taliban fighters swinging fists and launching kicks.
Zahra Mohammadi, one of the protest organisers, told AFP the women were marching despite the risks they face.
"The situation is that the Taliban don't respect anything: not journalists -- foreign and local -- or women," she said.
"The schools must reopen to girls. But the Taliban took this right from us."
High school girls have been blocked from returning to classes for more than a month, while many women have been banned from returning to work since the Taliban seized power in mid-August.
"My message to all girls and women is this: 'Don't be afraid of the Taliban, even if your family doesn't allow you to leave your home. Don't be afraid. Go out, make sacrifices, fight for your rights'," Mohammadi said.
"We have to make this sacrifice so that the next generation will be in peace."
Children walked alongside the protest in downtown Kabul, although it was unclear if they were part of the organised group.
Some Taliban fighters policing the march wore full camouflaged combat gear, including body armour, helmets and knee pads, while others were wearing traditional Afghan clothing.
Their weapons included US-made M16 assault rifles and AK-47s.
Unthinkable under the hardline Islamist group's last rule in the 1990s, Afghans have staged street protests across the country since the Taliban returned to power, sometimes with several hundred people and many with women at forefront.
But a ban on unauthorised demonstrations has meant protests against Afghanistan's new masters have dwindled.
Herat Teachers Demand Their Salaries
[ToloNews] Hundreds of teachers in the western province of Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... gathered and called on the Islamic Emirate to pay their salaries, as they have not been paid for over four months. The teachers demanded the Islamic Emirate facilitate their payments, saying that they have been grappling with severe economic challenges.
Based on initial findings, at least 18,000 teachers--including 10,000 women--have not received their salaries for the past four months.
"All teachers and civilian employees have not been paid for the past four months," said Mohammad Sabir Mashal, head of the teacher’s association.
The head of the provincial education, Shuhabuddin Saqib, said that one month's salary would be paid to the teachers in the coming days.
"The Islamic Emirate pledged to pay the salary for (Assad-month) and the rest of the salaies would also be paid after that," he said.
The officials said that dozens of teachers have recently left the country because of various challenges.

[Jpost] Turkish media claimed a Mossad network was caught in the country, just weeks after Hamas-affiliated media made a similar claim.
Turkish media claimed on Thursday that a Mossad network of 15 Arabs has been caught by Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT). The report comes just weeks after Hamas-affiliated media claimed that Palestinian spies were working for the Mossad in Turkey.
The report claimed that the suspects were split into five cells of three people each and were all arrested in a covert operation on October 7. The Turkish Sabah newspaper claimed that it was able to obtain the names and photographs of the alleged spies as well.
One of the five cells was in contact with and met with case officers from the Mossad and provided information and documents important for Israel. Information about Turkish and foreign students in Turkey was given to the Mossad in exchange for payment, according to Sabah.
The Turkish TRT Haber news reported that Palestinian and Syrian students were targeted by the cells, with a focus on students receiving training in the defense industry, as well as information on associations and organizations. The TRT report included video of the arrests.
One of the main spies, identified as A.B. by the report, allegedly collected information about what kind of facilities Turkey provides for Palestinians opposed to Israel in the country. A.B. entered Turkey in late 2015 and was reported as a missing person in June of this year, according to the report. The report he was missing was intended to divert attention from the cell, which was already under surveillance by then, Sabah claimed.
Another two suspects, identified as R.A.A. and M.A.S., were also reported as missing.
The report comes just weeks after the Hamas-affiliated Shehab news reported that seven Palestinians who had been reported missing in Turkey had been arrested for spying on “Palestinian national figures” in Turkey for the Palestinian Authority’s General Intelligence Services (GIS) and the Mossad. The report claimed that Turkish intelligence services caught the spies.
The Middle East Eye news site reported on Thursday that it was able to confirm that the 15 suspects had been arrested on charges of “espionage and working for Mossad to gather information on Palestinian citizens living in Turkey.”
MEE added that six Palestinians who were reported missing in Turkey since September were among the suspects. One of the brothers of one of the suspects told MEE that the reports about espionage were false and that the whole situation was a misunderstanding.
Shehab reported on Thursday that the Turkish report confirmed their earlier report.
Last month, Palestinian media reported that a number of Palestinians had gone missing in Turkey. Earlier this month, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry announced that the whereabouts of some of the missing Palestinians had been identified, after Turkish authorities contacted their families.
The Palestinians were recruited with offers of payment and threats of obstructing the renewal of their passports, according to Shehab, with Turkish security services finding that sums of money coming from the GIS were being sent to Palestinians who were “moving in a suspicious and intense manner,” especially after Operation Guardian of the Walls in May.
The goal of the GIS spies was to prepare for assassination operations against leading Palestinian figures in Turkey, according to Shehab. The report claimed that Israel was reluctant to carry out operations itself in Turkey due to concerns of a reaction by Turkish President Erdogan.
The Shehab report additionally claimed that Omar al-Nayef, who died in the Palestinian Embassy in Bulgaria in 2016, was killed in an operation conducted by GIS chief Majed Faraj for Israel.
The Sabah daily, which is close to Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important... , claimed that some 200 intelligence officers were involved in the efforts to locate the spies.
According to the report, the arrests took place on October 7 following a year-long National Intelligence Organization (MIT) operation.
The spies, said to be of Arab descent, operated in groups of three, the report said. Some had met with Mossad agents in Croatia and Switzerland ...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell... , where information was exchanged.
They had also received orders in the Romanian capital of Bucharest and Kenya’s Nairobi, the report claimed.
According to the paper, MIT also uncovered how the operatives were paid, which included cryptocurrency payments and money transfers from jewelry and currency exchange stores.
There was no immediate official comment from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... on the matter.
A report last year claimed the Paleostinian terror group Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, was secretly operating a facility in Turkey where it conducted cyberattacks and counterintelligence operations against Israel. The headquarters, which is separate from Hamas’s official offices in the city, was set up without the knowledge of Ottoman Turkish authorities, the report said.
The British daily The Telegraph also reported in 2020 that Turkey was granting citizenship to a dozen high-ranking Hamas members involved in coordinating terror attacks, which was later confirmed by the chargé d’affaires at Israel’s embassy in Ankara.
Turkey sees Hamas as a legitimate political movement. The country has long maintained warm ties with Hamas, which have grown more overt as relations with Israel have chilled over the last decade.
In August 2020, Ottoman Turkish President Recep Erdogan met with a Hamas delegation that included politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh ...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank... and the terror group’s No. 2, Saleh al-Arouri — a top military commander who has a $5 million US bounty on his head.
Hamas and Erdogan’s AKP party are linked politically. Both have close ideological ties to the Egyptian Moslem Brüderbund movement.

"The armed suspect walked next to a store customer while pointing the weapon toward the cashier when the customer acted immediately and disarmed him. The other two suspects fled the area when they witnessed their fellow criminal stopped. The customer was able to detain the suspect he disarmed until law enforcement arrived," the YCSO said in a press release.
[CitizenFreePress] Zabihullah Mohmand, 19, was charged with a felony for allegedly raping a woman in Montana after he was placed in the state by the Biden administration, according to U.S. officials.
The victim, 18, is identified as “Jane Doe” in court documents and says that she met Mohmand and two other men at a bar and they agreed to leave to go to a house party. After leaving the bar, she learned there was no house party, but she agreed to go back to his hotel, although she stated that she did not want anything to happen.
The Missoulian reports:
While telling police her story, she then began crying. She and Mohmand did have sex, she said, adding “(she) just couldn’t get him off me.” Mohmand wouldn’t let her leave, she told law enforcement. She also mentioned that another man was in the room during the assault. When she eventually left the room to get an Uber, Mohmand allegedly followed her out and tried to stop her from leaving.
In cellphone correspondence with her friend, the woman reported being raped. Her neck had significant bruising and red marks, charging documents said. She told officers Mohmand had held her down on the bed by placing his hand around her neck with force.
Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) confirmed the news Thursday morning. His office sent out a statement saying that an Afghan male placed in Montana by the U.S. State Department was charged with sexual assault.
The governor issued the following statement in response:
While I welcome our fully-vetted Afghan allies to Montana, this situation and others across the country raise serious concerns about whether the Biden administration is meeting its obligations to fully vet Afghans prior to resettlement. I'm calling on President Biden to immediately halt resettlements to Montana until federal agencies provide me with adequate assurance that Afghans coming to Montana are fully-vetted in accordance with federal law.
Montana Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) noted that the accused individual was admitted to the United States and placed in Montana under Humanitarian Parole, which is separate from the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program.

Doing some deeper digging..,
reading other articles for additional details.
I notice many articles quoting the victims statements switch between HE and SHE for the victim in the same quoted section? One commenter even asked if the Victim was Transgender?
Now regarding the Female Biological unit collecting the semen deposit.
Seriously!
What intelligent thinking female leaves a bar with 3 unknown males by herself, jumps in a car surrounded by 3 unknown guys, that claim to know a party location, all while trusting what she was told by people she never met before?
As heartless as I sound saying it...
She has to be short even a brick for a brain.
I can only say she must have been raised in a vacuum. never turned on a TV, used Social Media, and had to

[FoxNews] Tens of thousands of migrants are gathering on the Mexican side of the southern border, ahead of the Biden administration’s planned re-implementation of the Trump-era "Remain in Mexico" policy which kept migrants in Mexico for their hearings.
Border Patrol sources told Fox News that as many as 60,000 migrants are amassing on the Mexican side and intend to enter the U.S. in the coming days, knowing that the Biden administration intends to re-implement the Trump-era policy next month in response to a court order from a federal judge that was upheld by the Supreme Court.
Migrants already coming across in La Joya, Texas were predominantly from Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala and included many unaccompanied minors and single mothers. One woman told Fox that the economy in her country was terrible and as a single mother she cannot afford to send her child to school.
"Remain in Mexico," formally called the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), was established and expanded in 2019 by the Trump administration and involved sending migrants back to Mexico, rather than being released into the U.S., as their immigration proceedings were heard. The Biden administration began unraveling it earlier this year, even amid soaring migrant numbers, and formally ended it in June before the court ruling ordered a reversal.
Proponents described the policy as incredibly effective and one that helped end the process of "catch and release."
"That program alone resulted in a 75-80% reduction in families illegally entering the country. It closed that loophole down," former acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan said at a roundtable this week.
However, critics called the process inhumane and one that left migrants open to violence and exploitation on the Mexican side of the border by cartels and other criminals. Immigration activists have fumed at the Biden administration’s panned restart of the policy.
In a filing last week, the Biden administration said it had made "substantial progress" in re-implementing MPP, even as it says it is seeking alternative ways to end the program.
The filing said it had engaged in talks with Mexico, finalized operational plans and has also issued a task order to rebuild the soft-sided facilities (which were commonly referred to as "court tents") in Laredo and Brownsville, Texas to the tune of $14.1 million -- with a predicted $10.5 million a month in operational costs.
"As a result of this progress, DHS anticipates being in a position to re-implement MPP by mid-November dependent on decisions made by Mexico," the filing said, even as a separate statement said that DHS is finalizing a memo that would end the policy in accordance with the order.
The battle over MPP comes as leaks from government sources say that Fiscal Year 2021 set a record for apprehensions at the border, with 1.7 million encountered -- 132,000 of those were unaccompanied children.
The final border numbers have not been released, but are expected any day.

I hope I'm wrong; but I expect that Biden will botch "Remain in Mexico" just as badly as he has botched everything else so far.

[NTD] The French military confirmed on Thursday that an airstrike in Mali last week killed a leading senior member and four other terrorists of the African-based al-Qaeda affiliate Katiba Serma.
Nasser Al Tergui
...he’s just this guy, you know...
was spotted by a drone on Oct. 15 while seated in a vehicle carrying five individuals, according to the French military. The vehicle was moving about 60 miles northwest of Gossi, a rural commune in Mali.
"The cross-checking of various information made it possible to confirm the presence ... of Nasser Al Tergui," the French Ministry of the Armed Forces said in an Oct. 21 press release, French news agency AA reported.
Barkhane military forces, under which France has about 5,100 soldiers deployed across five countries in the Sahel region, launched a military operation the following day to intercept the vehicle, which refused to stop.
"In cooperation with the partner forces, after having again confirmed the presence of Nasser Al Tergui aboard the vehicle, the soldiers of the Barkhane force decided to launch an operation," the army said.
Operation Barkhane was launched in 2014 to combat the jihadi insurgency in Africa’s Sahel region.
The ministry confirmed that two airstrikes were launched at the target, which destroyed the vehicle and the five Katiba Serma members, an armed group affiliated with al Qaeda—a multinational terrorist network that was founded in 1988 by Osama bin Laden, among several others.
Al Tergui’s death "will reduce the capacity to cause harm of an armed terrorist group known for carrying out attacks against local forces and numerous acts of violence against the local population," the army said in a statement that was obtained by news agency AFP.
The jihadist commander joined al-Qaeda in 2012 and had "major operational responsibilities" in the terrorist group, it added.
"He was notably specialized in planting improvised explosive devices," according to the statement.
Africa Center adds:
Katiba Serma – Led by Abu Jalil al Fulani and operational in the Serma region between Gao and Mopti. The group is a semi-autonomous subgroup of the Macina Liberation Front, one of the major members of Jama’at Nusrat al Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM)
JNIM is the regional branch of Al Qaeda in North Africa, specifically central and northern Mali and eastern Burkina Faso.

[RIA Novosti] The operation of retaliation for the elimination in 1943 of Gauleiter Wilhelm Kube, the organizer of the mass genocide against civilians in the Nazi-occupied territory of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, was codenamed "Playwright", said the Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Leader of Lebanese Forces A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb... party Samir Geagea ...Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005... said on Thursday the military court should listen to Hezbollah’s chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb... ’s statement about last week’s violence in Beirut before they question him.A judicial official said earlier that Geagea has been summoned for questioning about last week’s events after a protest organised by Hezbollah and its ally Amal to demand the judge investigating the Beirut blast, Tarek Bitar, be removed, turned violent mostly peaceful.
Fadi Akiki, a representative of the military court, had "instructed the army intelligence to summon Geagea and take his statement based on information provided by arrested LF members," a judicial official said according to AFP.
Geagea said in a TV interview that if the military court would ask him, he would happily give a statement on the condition that they "listen to Nasrallah" before him.
"For one small reason, the Lebanese Forces party, since the end of the civil war, has committed no violations," Geagea added, pointing that his party is registered with ministry of interior, unlike Hezbollah.
Tensions over the investigation into the Beirut blast that rocked the country in August 2020 ignited street violence in the capital last week, leading to the death of seven Shias. It was the worst street violence in over a decade.
The Iran-backed Hezbollah militia held the Christian Lebanese Forces, led by Geagea, responsible. The Lebanese Forces denied the accusation and pointed the finger of blame at Hezbollah for sending its supporters into the Christian neighborhood of Ain al-Remmaneh.
Nasrallah accused the Lebanese Forces on Monay of seeking to ignite a "civil war", demanded there be an investigation into the events of last Thursday and threatened to take action if the judiciary did not.
The powerful Shia militia’s leader also revealed for the first time that the group had 100,000 armed and trained fighters.
"Nasrallah’s speech was a poisonous gift, full of fallacies and rumors that are not based on any truth. I consider the events of Ain al-Remmaneh an ominous event that cost us many maimed and victims in the suburb," Geagea said.
"I don’t know who fired the first bullet, but I know that the first four injured fell in Ain al-Remmaneh and that is settled," Geagea added.
He said Hezbollah was the real greatest threat to Leb ...In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial... and added that his party had no fighters. "We have 30,000 or 35,000 partisans who are quite visible and present inside and outside Lebanon."

[ZeroHedge] A top NIH official admitted in a Wednesday letter that the US-funded so-called "gain-of-function" research in Wuhan, China - and that the US nonprofit which conducted it, EcoHealth Alliance - led by the controversial Peter Daszak, "failed to report" that they had created a chimeric bat coronavirus which could infect humans.
In a letter addressed to Rep. James Comer (R-KY), NIH Principal Deputy Director Lawrence A. Tabak cites a "limited experiment" to determine whether "spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor in a mouse model." According to the letter, humanized mice infected with the modified bat virus "became sicker" than those exposed to an unmodified version of the same bat coronavirus.
Daszak failed to report this finding, and has been given five days to submit "any and all unpublished data from the experiments and work conducted" under the NIH grant.
Rutgers University Board of Governors Chemistry Professor Richard H. Ebright sums it up. :
NIH corrects untruthful assertions by NIH Director Collins and NIAID Director Fauci that NIH had not funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan. NIH states that EcoHealth Alliance violated Terms and Conditions of NIH grant AI110964.
The NIH received the relevant documents in 2018 and reviewed the documents in 2020 and again in 2021.
The NIH--specifically, Collins, Fauci, and Tabak--lied to Congress, lied to the press, and lied to the public. Knowingly. Willfully. Brazenly.

Southern California’s Los Angeles and Long Beach ports handle the most ocean cargo of any ports in the United States, but are some of the least efficient in the world, according to a ranking by the World Bank and IHS Markit.
In a review of 351 container ports around the globe, Los Angeles was ranked 328, behind Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam and Alaska’s Dutch Harbor. The adjacent port of Long Beach came in even lower, at 333, behind Turkey’s Nemrut Bay and Kenya’s Mombasa, the groups said in their inaugural Container Port Performance Index published in May.

[AlAhram] The Ottoman Turkish lira plunged to a record low against the U.S. dollar Thursday after a harsher-than-expected cut in interest rates.
The decision by the Central Bank's monetary committee to cut the rate from 18% to 16% surprised analysts. The lira dropped to 9.45 against the dollar, compounding a long run of losses.
The cut, which came as inflation stands at nearly 20%, will be seen by many as further evidence of the bank's lack of independence from the government of President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. Contrary to traditional economic theory, the president has said steep interest rates cause inflation and has declared himself an ``enemy'' of high borrowing costs.
The lira hit a previous low last week when Erdogan fired three central bank officials responsible for monetary policy. They were said to have opposed the rate-cutting policy at the committee's September meeting.
Timothy Ash, an emerging markets expert at BlueBay Asset Management in London, described the latest cut as part of an ``insane monetary policy experiment,'' adding, ``It feels like the lira and inflation will suffer the consequences.''
Umit Ozlale, vice chairman of the center-right opposition Iyi Party, said the decision ``lacks any economic sense and will only worsen the damage that's been done. It's just another affirmation that the Central Bank is reduced to a rubber stamp for President Erdogan's political ambitions.''
In its announcement of the cut, the central bank blamed a recent rise in inflation on factors such as higher food and import prices, supply chain disruption and recovering demand.
``Nevertheless, the committee assessed that, till the end of the year, supply-side transitory factors leave limited room for the downward adjustment to the policy rate,'' it said.

[REGNUM] For a week, 50 reconnaissance aircraft and aircraft of foreign states conducted reconnaissance near the borders of Russia. This was reported on October 21 by the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda".
Over the past week, Russian radar stations have detected 36 reconnaissance aircraft and 14 unmanned aerial vehicles from foreign countries.
Fighters rose from the air defense duty forces three times to prevent violation of the air borders of the Russian Federation. Flights of all foreign aircraft were tracked by RF radar systems. There were no violations of the state border of Russia.
[FoxNews] Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., displayed a Hunter Biden painting during Thursday's House Judiciary hearing, asking Attorney General Merrick Garland how it could come close in value to two classical art pieces he also displayed.
The displays served as a lead-up to Buck asking Garland if he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Biden. Garland declined to answer, saying he wouldn't comment on pending investigations. When Buck told him he could comment on appointing a special prosecutor, Garland said he would take Buck's request "under advisement."
Buck showed Garland paintings by Claude Monet and Edgar Degas, costing $700,000 and $500,000, respectively.
"The third painting … is a Hunter Biden," Buck added to laughter. After Garland said he didn't recognize the painting, Buck said that particular painting sold for $500,000.
"Now, you may think that … when Hunter Biden is in such exclusive company that he would have a background in artistic training for example," he said.
"But you would be wrong if you thought that. And you might think that he had some sort of apprenticeship with a world-renowned artist but you would be wrong again if you thought that. Or perhaps that he has been selling his works for years – and again, unfortunately, you would be wrong."
Buck noted that Biden was selling his pieces for as much as $500,000. The New York Post previously reported that the gallery hosting Biden had received $500,000 in coronavirus relief.
As Buck noted, former President Obama's ethics czar expressed concern about the younger Biden's dealings.
"Hunter Biden should cancel this art sale because he knows the prices are based on his dad’s job," said former ethics chief Walter Shaub in July. "Shame on POTUS if he doesn't ask Hunter to stop."
Garland's department has reportedly started investigating Biden's finances.
[NYPOST] A 21-year-old New Jersey man who allegedly killed his grandfather with an ax told police he believed the 81-year-old man was a monster — and that "God" made him do it." Jason Vicari, of Wyckoff, has been charged with murder in the brutal death of his grandfather Ronald Vicari inside his home in Elmwood Park. I strongly suspect God said no such thing.
The Bergen County SWAT team responded to the home about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after the suspect locked himself inside. He surrendered 50 minutes later after speaking with a negotiator, authorities said.
When asked who else was inside the house, Vicari said, "Not anyone alive," NJ.com reported, citing the arrest report.
"God told me to do it," he said 10 minutes later without being asked, according to the report.
Inside the home, police found the body of Ronald Vicari, who had been struck in the head, NJ.com reported. The head of the ax and the handle were found separately.
"Mr. Jason Vicari uttered that he believed his grandfather was a monster and that God told him he would have to change his religion," the arrest report stated, adding that the suspect’s clothes were bloody.
That sounds like plain vanilla paranoid schizophrenia, for which the family cannot force medication if the patient doesn’t want it or doesn’t think he needs it, despite the risk to himself and others.
The alleged killer also faces two weapons charges.
The elder Vicari was a prominent figure in Elmwood Park, where he served on the planning and zoning boards.

TL/DR: Ho Hum. If the Chinese want to play MAD then the US and more than match their bid. The ABM system is best used against minor nuclear powers.
