Texas Abortions Drop 50%
[Spectrum News, hat tip to The Dallas Morning News, behind the paywall]

Texas’ highly restrictive new law has spurred the largest documented decrease in abortions in the state, according to University of Texas at Austin researchers. A new study says abortions in the state were down 50% in September 2021 compared to September 2020. That was the intent of the bill's backers and author.

The law prohibits abortion once fetal cardiac activity can be detected, which is frequently as early as six weeks into pregnancy and before most women know they’re pregnant.
But well after they know they could be pregnant.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday, Nov. 1 is set to hear two challenges to the restrictive abortion law: One from the Department of Justice and another brought by abortion providers.

#5  probably the Texas stats are pretty reliable

it is curious that the researchers looked at wait times for abortion appointments in neighboring States as a proxy for detecting Texans seeking abortions in neighboring States (as 49Pan wanted).

I'm guessing that the neighboring States didn't have complete records at the time the researchers asked.

House Dems to Introduce Resolution to Condemn Israel, Praise Terrorist Palestinian Groups
[PJ Media] A contingent of House Democrats plans to introduce a resolution urging the Biden administration to condemn Israel while also supporting six Palestinian groups that are designated as terrorist organizations by Israel, the United States, and the European Union.

Rep. Betty McCollum (D., Minn.) plans to introduce the resolution, which, unsurprisingly, will be co-sponsored by "Squad" members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.), Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.), and Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), and several other House Democrats.
The Jooo-Hating Usual Suspects
"Among the groups backed in the Democratic resolution are the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which is designated as a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union," the Washington Free Beacon reports. "Also included is the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, which had funding cut from it in 2020 after the group’s leadership was arrested for murdering a 17-year-old Israeli."

The resolution by House Democrats celebrates the groups for the "value and importance" of their "courageous work," while also condemning Israel for its supposedly "repressive act designed to criminalize and persecute important Palestinian human rights organizations." The resolution also calls on Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to condemn Israel’s "authoritarian and anti-democratic act of repression" and support the six terrorism-tied organizations.

While it is unlikely the resolution will get widespread support, it nevertheless is a symptom of the rising problem of anti-Semitism becoming mainstream within the Democratic Party. Earlier this year Nancy Pelosi infamously walked back her rebuke of Rep. Ilhan Omar for equating so-called "crimes against humanity" by the United States and Israel to "unthinkable atrocities" by the Taliban and Hamas. The incident proved that the Democratic Party leadership is unwilling to hold their own accountable for radical anti-American and anti-Israel views.

#1  this is one reason it was disappointing that the Dems didn't have a real nomination convention in 2020

most people don't realize the toxic hatred in the Dem party and it is covered up by CBS, NBC, CNN, yahoo news, google news, Bloomberg news, etc. The only way this gets to the low information voters and the gaslighted voters (whom make up at least 30% and maybe 60% of the registered voters) is to see it with their own eyes.

Raw, psychotic anti Israel hatred is just one of the things that would come out of a convention, raw anti American hatred also, also anti white, anti blue coller, etc.

Maybe in 2024

Biden's 85-vehicle motorcade a textbook example of hypocrisy from 'limousine liberals': Boothe

[FoxNews] Want proof that President Biden is just another "limousine liberal"? Check out his 85-vehicle motorcade through Rome this weekend ahead of Sunday's COP26 UN Climate Change Conference, says Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe.

Boothe called climate change a "limousine liberal issue" during an appearance on Fox News' "The Big Saturday Show" in the aftermath of Biden's extravagant vehicular display overseas.

"The issue of climate change is a limousine liberal issue," Boothe said. "The Republican Party has turned into the party for the American worker, and Democrats are the party for coastal elites. This issue alone underscores that point."

#17  I was under the impression Ms Hutchins was a kid, I assumed no more than 25.

Halyna Hutchins was the Director of Photography (DP), the person in charge of the camera and lighting crews. The DP has nothing to do with props.

The young person in question was the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, aged 24. Her father is Thell Reed, a well-known guy in the business. The armorer, along with the prop master is responsible for any guns on set and making sure they are used safely. This was her second time out as lead armorer on a film.

Four people shot at home of California Democrat legislator
[NYPost] One person was killed and three others were injured when shots rang out at a California lawmaker’s party, reports said.

Gilroy City Council Member Rebeca Armendariz was hosting a large outdoor party when someone opened fire around 1 a.m. Saturday, according to NBC News.

Two of the survivors had "life-threatening injuries," the article said.

"We are giving our full cooperation to the Gilroy Police Department in this investigation," the Democrat said in a statement to an NBC network affiliate.

"Our primary concern is for the individuals impacted and their families. We hope the Gilroy community will come together with love and support for those touched by yesterday’s events at the appropriate time."

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, though reports said it may have followed an argument. The council member was apparently not injured. The names of the victims haven’t been released.

Migrant caravan rejects visa offers from Mexican officials, keeps going toward US
[Foxnews] A massive caravan of thousands of migrants has rejected an offer of humanitarian visas for some of the travelers, and is continuing with its journey to the United States border.

The Mexican National Institute of Migration said in a statement that it offered humanitarian visas to women and children in the caravan, but said it was rejected by leaders of the caravan, which set off from southern Mexico last week.

One of the leaders told Reuters that they were distrustful of the authorities who they said had broken promises to them in the past -- and that the deal involved them reporting to government shelters and possibly being moved across states.

The migrants, currently in Ulapa, will leave later Saturday and head to Mapastepec as they walk at night to beat the heat of the day as they take their chances to get into the United States via the southern border -- where there were more than 1.7 million migrant encounters in Fiscal Year 2021.

Organizer Luis Garcia Villagran had told Fox News earlier this week that there were approximately 4,000 migrants in the caravan, with 1,256 under the age of seven, over 400 between the ages of seven and 18, more than 100 babies under one and 65 pregnant women.

While single males are mostly being turned away under the Trump-era Title 42 public health order, the Biden administration has only been turning away a fraction of family units and is not applying Title 42 to unaccompanied children. In September, 75% of single adults were expelled under Title 42, while just 27% of family units were expelled.

Government Corruption
Pennsylvania governor fingered for routing private election grants to Democrat areas
[Just The News] Legislative Republicans excoriated Gov. Tom Wolf for "playing favorites" after a report concluded his administration helped only Democratic counties secure $21 million in private grants ahead of the 2020 election.

Broad + Liberty reported the Pennsylvania Department of State and various left-wing groups worked together to funnel private grant funding to Democratic-leaning counties without offering the same assistance to Republican-leaning counties.

"This latest report indicates the administration and the Department of State played favorites when they connected certain counties to large sums of grant funding while ignoring other counties," Rep. Seth Grove (R-York) said. "Not only did this create unequal access to voters, but it also essentially disenfranchised voters in counties that did not receive equal funding."

About half of the money — procured through the Chicago-based Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL)
...Mr. and Mrs. Mark Zuckerberg’s private “grant mentor” NGO that gave millions of dollars to favoured boards of elections heading into November 2020...
— went to Philadelphia County, Grove said, representing about $10 spent per voter there. Other counties received around $1 per voter, he said.

The Center Square previously reported 13 counties across Pennsylvania and the city of Philadelphia received the private grants last year after challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic forced local officials to burn through their annual budgets long before the Nov. 3 election.

In an interview with APM Reports, Chester County's acting Director of Voting Services Bill Turner described the $2.5 million grant his office received as "a lifesaver" that he used to fund 14 drop boxes, body cameras and extra poll workers.

Africa Subsaharan
WOKE in South Africa - The white student braving racial politics
[BBC] Teenager Jess Griesel does not seem the usual red beret-wearing member of South Africa's Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) - the party intent on upsetting the country's political landscape.

She is a 19-year-old white, Afrikaans-speaking undergraduate who was recently elected to the Student Representative Council (SRC) of Cape Town university on an EFF ticket.

But in a country as racially charged as South Africa, her stance has not gone down well with some people. When Ms Griesel announced her SRC candidacy in September, one social media user described her as a "race traitor".

Twenty-seven years after the end of white-minority rule - when Nelson Mandela was elected as president in South Africa's first democratic election, calling the country "the rainbow nation" - Ms Griesel tells me the backlash shocked her.

"Being called a race traitor was something that I found very interesting and very telling about South Africa today. It insinuates that there's still an 'us' and a 'them' club."

To understand the reaction she has faced - one needs to understand how the EFF has shaken up politics in South Africa.

Formed in 2013, it is led by the fiery Julius Malema, who has modelled himself on Venezuela's late President Hugo Chavez and unapologetically promotes the interests of poor black South Africans.

The party describes itself as "a left-leaning, radical, anti-imperialist and economic emancipation movement, inspired by the broad Marxist-Leninist school of thought."

Members are disruptive, literally and figuratively.

They are often accused of being anti-white. That is because they have repeatedly demanded that white South Africans give up the land taken from black people.

Some EFF supporters occasionally sing the apartheid-era chant "Kill the Boer, kill the farmer", a highly controversial song that a court ruled as hate speech and which is seen as being directed against the white farming community.

19 States Sue Biden Administration Over COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate
Jury box.
[EpochTimes] Several U.S. states on Friday mounted multiple federal lawsuits against the Biden administration, the guys that caused the debacle in Afghanistan
...the pack of self-imagined masterminds of strategy and intrigue at the service of the Biden Crime Family and a grateful nation...
over its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal workers and contractors.

Texas sued individually in a federal court in Galveston. Another lawsuit, filed in a federal district court in Missouri involves Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Yet another lawsuit, filed in a federal district court in Georgia, involves Georgia, Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina, Utah, and West Virginia.

The lawsuits come a day after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis
...Republican governor of Florida, stone in the shoe of the Dems and their ilk, maybe one-day president...
announced he sued the administration over the same vaccine mandate. As of late Friday, the total number of states suing the Biden administration over the mandate is 19.

President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The nincompoop who dumped Afghanistan. The copier doesdn't exist that could reelect him....
on Sept. 9 issued a far-reaching executive order that requires almost all federal employees to get a COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment, including civilian federal employees and contractors. The order goes into effect on Dec. 8. Regular COVID-19 testing isn’t an option, but religious or medical exemptions from vaccination may be granted, according to the order. Contractors that don’t comply may lose out on government contracts.

All 19 states seek to block Biden’s requirement, arguing that the mandate violates federal procurement law and is an overreach of federal power. The states also argue that Biden’s vaccine mandate violates the 10th Amendment that separates the power between federal and state governments; uses federal spending to coerce the states, which is unconstitutional; and did not properly allow for 60 days of public comment.

The Biden administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

India-Pakistan
New ISI chief: Gen Bajwa showed Imran Khan who is the boss of Pakistan
[OneIndia] The decision by Pakistain Prime Minister, Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
to notify Lt. General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum as the next ISI chief is a clear sign that the army continues to be in complete control of the country.

The new spymaster will replace Lt. General Faiz Hameed next month. The notification by the Prime Minister's Office comes after nearly three weeks of a face-off between the military and the government.

On October 6, The Mighty Pak Army chief, General Qamar Bajwa had reshuffled the top military brass and while doing so, he transferred Lt. Gen Hameed to Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
as the corps commander. He also appointed the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
corps commander. Lt. General Anjum as the ISI chief.

However Imran Khan was reluctant to notify the appointment and this had strained the relations with the military. However Khan had to tow the line of the army chief. This has now led to strong speculation that General Bajwa may most likely continue to head the military beyond November 2022. He took over as the army chief on November 29 2016.

While the army chief had made his decision on the new ISI chief, Khan remained reluctant and said that he wanted the due process to be followed. He was trying to suggest that he did not want to replace Lt. General Hameed as the ISI chief. To be sure, General Bajwa had sent a list of names to be appointed as the next ISI chief so that the PM could interview them. However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
this was just a way to help Khan save face, but in reality the message was clear and the army wanted only Lt. General Anjum as the next ISI chief.

However on October 26th it became clear that the army had had its way. The PM's office said in a tweet Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI today. The meeting was part of the ongoing consultation process between the Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff about the timing of change of command in ISI and selection of the new DG ISI.

During this process a list of officers was received from ministry of Defence. Prime Minister interviewed all the nominees. A final round of consultation was held between the Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff today, the PM's office also tweeted.

After this detailed consultative process, name of Lt..Gen. Nadeem Anjum was approved as new DG ISI. The designate DG ISI shall assume charge on 20th November, 2021, another tweet read.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strike "destroyed a Hizbullah

...In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial...
At least five pro-Iranian fighters were killed and several maimed, said the war monitor.

Earlier state news agency SANA, quoting a military source, said two Syrian soldiers were maimed after explosions were heard in the Syrian capital.

"The Israeli enemy fired a salvo of surface-to-surface missiles from northern occupied Paleostine targeting positions near Damascus," SANA said.

"Our anti-aircraft defenses were activated and were able to hit some of the enemy missiles," the source said, adding that the attack maimed two soldiers and caused damage.

AFP correspondents in Damascus heard multiple explosions at around midday.

Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Israel has routinely carried out air strikes inside Syria, mostly targeting Syrian government troops as well as allied Iranian and Lebanese Hizbullah forces.

It is rare for Israel to carry out strikes on Syrian targets during daylight hours.
Strikes were reported in the areas of al-Dimas, Qudsaya and al-Mezzah military air base — all located west of Damascus.

According to the Observatory and Syrian media reports, the strike targeted advanced weaponry and ammunition depots belonging to Hezbollah, Iranian forces and allied militias.

The targets of the strike were all located in areas known to host Syrian air defenses as well as arms warehouses.

IDF fighter jets escort American bomber through region, in tacit threat to Iran
[IsraelTimes] Israeli F-15 fighter jets escorted an American heavy bomber through the region as it made its way to the Persian Gulf on Saturday, in an apparent threat to Iran.

"The flight represents the continued operational cooperation with American forces in the region," the Israel Defense Forces said.

The escort mission came as Israeli and American officials have increasingly threatened to act against Tehran’s nuclear program, as Iran

The Israeli military shared photographs and video footage of the flight, showing the American B-1b bomber, which is capable of carrying heavy bunker-buster bombs that would be needed for a strike on Iran’s largely underground nuclear facilities, alongside the Israeli F-15 jets.

26 FDNY firehouses out of service over vaccine mandate staff shortage
[NYPOST] The FDNY shut down 26 firehouses across the Big Apple as of 7:30 a.m. Saturday because of staff shortages caused by the vaccination mandate, The Post has learned.Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, a Republican who represents Staten Island and Brooklyn, tweeted Saturday that five of the companies were in her district — and said it’s Hizzoner who could have blood on his hands.

"If someone dies due to a slower emergency response, it’s on Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
and his overreaching mandates. I hope this fool fixes it ASAP!" she tweeted.

The shuttered companies included Engine 55 in Lower Manhattan, Engine 234 in Crown Heights, Engine 231 in Brownsville, Ladder 128 in Long Island City and Engine 158 and Ladder 78 in Richmond on Staten Island, according to an FDNY alert sent Saturday morning.

"Twenty six companies out of service is an unconscionable number," said Councilman Joe Borelli, a Staten Island Republican who chairs the committee on fire and emergency management. "The firefighters who are unable to work have all been tested within the week and are not Covid positive, and I doubt New Yorkers care about the vaccine status of the person applying defibrillators to their chest."

Ukrainian film artillery impacts Russian backed militia positions in public video
Can't embed the video (It's from VKontake)

Looking over the area via Google earth, you can see numerous shell holes north of Telmanovo. The affected area is ( I think) west northwest of Telmanovo. You can see trenches and shell holes there as well.

Note from the journalist Varvara Pukhova:
Geographical note: Novaya Marievka is a village close to Ukrainian lines
“Regular shelling of the Ukrainian military forced the residents of Novaya Marievka to hide in basements. The settlement of Novaya Marievka, although it is in direct line of sight from the opposite bank of the Kalmius River occupied by the Ukrainian army, has been considered a relatively quiet place since the active fighting in 2015.

Affected by the large distance to the enemy. The situation changed earlier this week when Ukrainian troops crossed the river and tried to gain a foothold on the opposite bank in the village of Staromaryevka.

Despite the statements of the Ukrainian leadership that they crossed the water barrier for "humanitarian purposes", the first thing that the special forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine did was to arrest local residents with passports of the Russian Federation and the DPR.

At the same time, the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine methodically began to work the roads and heights, covering the attempt of their troops to gain a foothold on the bridgehead. The nearest village, Novaya Maryevka, came under fire from large-caliber artillery.

At the moment of calm, local residents clean up the remains of windows and roofs broken by close hits. They spend their last nights in basements again, and do not leave the courtyards to work in vegetable gardens, which are hit by mines and shells.

"I was insanely afraid, all the old people stayed here, we are hiding in the basement, who can walk. Those who are lying are just in their houses, and I am afraid for them," says a local resident Svetlana before bursting into tears from her nerves and experienced fear.

At the moment, the Ukrainian troops are suffering losses, but under the cries of their propaganda about the victorious "toad jump" they continue to remain in Staromaryevka under the cover of civilians, and their artillery shells the villages of the Telmanovsky district of the DPR every day. "

Somalia: Al-Shabaab launched attack on Puntland military base

attack on a Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
military base in Af-Urur of the Bari region on Saturday morning, residents said.

The attack began with mortars fired by Al-Shabaab at a military base in the Galgala mountains and the army responded with heavy weapons.

Witnesses said they heard sporadic gunfire after the attack near the village as Puntland troops managed to remain in control of the key base.

Al-Shabaab has carried out similar attacks on Af-Urur in mid-2017, killing more than 40 soldiers and civilians, the deadliest single-day attack.

Puntland faces double threats to its security from al-Shabaab and ISIS-linked Death Eaters which set up a base in the Bari region in 2015 to wage a terrorist insurgency.

The state forces have been carrying out routine operations in Galgala and hotbed of terror areas in the region for the past few months to maintain security.

Russia suggests using air defense missile to cover Donbass
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RusOnline] After the military use of the Armed Forces of the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones in the Donbas, experts even started talking about the possibility of Russian air defense crews appearing in the conflict zone.

Vasily Kashin, a Russian political scientist and an employee of the Higher School of Economics, told Kommersant that if Kiev continues this use of drones in Donbass, countermeasures will inevitably follow to bring about a balance of power. The actions of the Ukrainian side will lead to the need for a sharp strengthening (rearmament) of the air defense of the DPR and LPR in order to clear the skies of the self-proclaimed republics from the presence of hostile drones. Either direct participation in their (DPR and LPR - ed.)

Air defense of the Russian armed forces will be required - Kashin explained the prospects. In turn, Konstantin Skorkin from the Carnegie Moscow Center explained Kiev's actions with a desire to “raise the enthusiasm” of Ukrainians. He recalled that during the Second Karabakh war, the mentioned drones showed themselves very well, becoming a "military sensation".

The victory of Baku inspired Kiev, which saw a model for the return of territories in Nagorno-Karabakh and decided to seize the opportunity. It is clear that this parallel is very stretched, since by nature the conflicts are different, but in Kiev they are looking for simple recipes - noted Skorkin. At the same time, an expert from the Russian International Affairs Council, Timur Akhmetov, who lives in Ankara, said that critics of the Turkish authorities urge Ankara to be more selective in the supply of weapons.

Especially when it comes to hot spots near Turkey. An error in the miscalculation of the risks of any supplies may affect the situation in other conflicts with Turkey's participation - thinks Akhmetov. He thinks that in the dialogue between Moscow and Ankara, a discussion of the supply of weapons will inevitably appear, since Russia can transfer its weapons into the hands of Turkey's enemies, symmetrically responding to the appearance of Turkish drones from Ukraine.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[ColonelCassad] Having defeated the troops of Ethiopia on its territory, the army of the independent Tigray launched an attack on the central regions of Ethiopia, with the ultimate goal of reaching the capital of the country. Now battles have unfolded for the large city of Dessie.

The Ethiopian army is in a state of demoralization and partial decay, which leads to large losses, desertions and huge trophies from the Tygrai. In recent months, Ethiopia has lost more than 250 units of various equipment, which is destroyed or captured by the Tygrai army.

Several thousand soldiers surrendered - in 2021, the Tigray army holds the world record for the number of captured prisoners, even the Houthis were overtaken. Two divisions of the Ethiopian army virtually ceased to exist, two more suffered heavy losses.

But not so long ago Ethiopia controlled most of Tigray, including its capital. Disgracers.

Defense Minister Gantz held covert security meetings in Singapore
[IsraelTimes] Destination ostensibly barred from publication, but revealed by some Hebrew-language media; Asian nation said to be a significant importer of Israeli goods, including arms.

It was not clear why Gantz’s destination had been placed under gag order, as Israel and Singapore have long enjoyed open relations. And former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with his counterpart in the small Asian country in 2017.

Sources involved in the matter told The Times of Israel’s sister site Zman Yisrael that it was Singapore that had asked to keep the meeting under wraps, with Israel apparently complying with the request.

The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1969, but have ties dating back to 1965, when Israeli military advisers covertly assisted Singapore after its declaration of independence.

Singapore is Israel’s second-largest export destination in Asia after India, which is said to also include arms, considering a significant portion of Israel’s exports is defense-related.

The Singapore Air Force’s 116th squadron uses Hermes 450 drones, manufactured by the Israeli Elbit Systems defense contractor.

Israeli arms giant Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has also previously attended the Singapore Airshow, where it once unveiled a new laser defense system.

Latest Russian corvette starts sea trial in Pacific
[TASS] The Project 20380 fourth corvette Rezkiy built for Russia’s Pacific Fleet arrived in Vladivostok for outfitting, mooring and shipbuilders’ sea trials, Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral Sergei Avakyants told reporters on Friday.

"Today, the Rezkiy, delivered to Vladivostok from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, has been rolled out from the Zeya self-propelled dock. The corvette has been placed into the outfitting yard of the Amur Shipbuilding Plant in Vladivostok for its equipping and preparing it for mooring and shipbuilders’ sea trials," the Pacific Fleet’s commander said.

As the admiral specified, "the new corvette is set to enter service with the Pacific Fleet in 2022."

Currently, the Russian Pacific Fleet operates the Project 20380 corvettes Sovershenniy, Gromky and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov.

Project 20380 corvettes are designed to accomplish green-water missions, fight enemy surface ships and submarines and provide artillery support for amphibious assault operations. The corvettes of this type incorporate the latest solutions for reducing their physical fields. In particular, the shipbuilders significantly reduced their radar signature during their construction, using radio absorption materials and specially designing their hull and superstructure.

Project 20380 corvettes are armed with Uran anti-ship missiles, Redut surface-to-air missile systems, A-190 artillery guns and Paket-NK anti-submarine warfare weapons. They can carry Ka-27 helicopters of any modification.

They are like all bitter losers, just out to spoil the party they were not invited to. The bigger picture is that political consultants have been a pox on the republic, selling often inferior product to the electorate via "anything goes" tactics.

#7  Billionaire Democratic donors give big to anti-Trump Lincoln Project
Billionaire investor Stephen Mandel — a longtime backer of Democratic groups — gave $1 million to The Lincoln Project last month. Bain Capital executive Joshua Bekenstein chipped in $100,000 to the group. DreamWorks founder David Geffen — a million-dollar donor to Democratic super PACs in 2018 — also gave $100,000 to the Republican-led group. So did billionaire cable TV pioneer Amos Hostetter, another major Democratic donor. Retail developer Joseph Kaempfer added $75,000.

Some current and former Republican donors also bankrolled The Lincoln Project in the second quarter. Investor and former Jeb Bush backer David Seldin gave $75,000. His political contributions have shifted entirely to Democrats in the Trump era. Michigan oil executive Sidney Jansma, who is backing critical Republican congressional candidates in his state such as John James, Peter Meijer and Lynn Afendoulis, (RINO back sabbers) donated $100,000.

So Anti-Fa Leaders have openly set itself above US law and plans physical violence and mayhem, if their guilty verdict demand isn't met.

Sounds like Anti-FA is a Revolutionary Domestic Terrorist Group.

We know the there are 1000's of FBI, State, and yes even still good Portland LEO's. So why hasn't Andrea Lane Mun been arrested by any of the still good LEO's?

Is it due to the current Government and leadership seat holders?

Has the incoming Coup clearly placed themselves above the law?
Because, it is clear and well documented that it has selectively enforced, applied and even violated US Law's, as needed, for their Social-Political agenda many times.

Kyle Rittenhouse is more than a national hero. His extraordinary example of singular moral clarity and physical courage represents this country's best hope of the next generation recovering some sanity in our law enforcement and criminal justice systems.

29 LGBT Afghans arrive in Britain
[KhaamaPress] A group of 29 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) left Afghanistan and arrived in London on Thursday, October 29 as part of the UK initiative.

The group was evacuated from Afghanistan as a result of interference from the British Foreign Ministry, LGBT+ rights charity Stonewall, and the asylum group of Rainbow Railroad.

The group also includes students and teachers who were advocating the rights of LBGT in Afghanistan.

The activists and foreign ministry in the UK said that this is the beginning and they will continue to help all the Afghans who are at risk.

British foreign minister Liz Truss said that Britannia is a free country and people can live as they want to be and free from persecution.

LGBT Afghans have complained that they have been beaten and intimidated by the Taliban

Hackers believed to be linked to Iran have breached an Israeli internet hosting company

Hackers believed to be linked to Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
have breached an Israeli internet hosting company, taking down several of its sites, local media reported.

The cyberattack hit websites including of Israeli public transport companies Dan and Kavim, a children’s museum and public radio’s online blog, with none of the sites available to users by midday Saturday.

The hacking group known as Black Shadow grabbed credit for the attack and published what it said was client data, including the names, email addresses and phone numbers of Kavim clients, on the Telegram messaging app.

"Hello Again! We have news for you," the hackers wrote in a message on Telegram on Friday night.

"You probably could not connect to many websites today. ’Cyberserve’ company and their customers (were) hit by us," it said.

"If you don’t want your data leak(ed) by us, contact us SOON."

Later another message read: "They did not contact us... so (the) first data is here," with the group dumping the information online.

Israeli media said Black Shadow is a group of Iran-linked hackers who use cyberattacks for criminal ends.

The group breached Israel’s Shirbit insurance firm in December last year, stealing a trove of data.

It demanded a $1 million ransom and began leaking the information when the firm refused to pay.

The new attack comes after an unprecedented, unclaimed cyberattack wrought havoc on Iran’s petrol distribution system this week.

Iranian media have pointed the finger at government opponents abroad.

Iran and Israel have been engaged in a so-called "shadow war", including several reported attacks on Israeli and Iranian ships that the two have blamed on each other, as well as cyberattacks.

In 2010 the Stuxnet virus — believed to have been engineered by Israel and its ally the US — infected Iran’s nuclear program, causing a series of breakdowns in centrifuges used to enrich uranium.

Two Peshmerga dead in ISIS attack in Kirkuk: CTD
[Rudaw] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) hard boyz attacked Peshmerga forces in Kirkuk province’s Altun Kupri district on Saturday, reportedly killing two Peshmerga fighters, according to a statement from Kurdistan’s Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD).

The attack by the hard boyz happened at Zorgazraw region of Kirkuk’s Altun Kupri district, around 40 kilometers northwest of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
where two Peshmerga fighters were killed, according to the statement from CTD.

A statement from the Ministry of Peshmerga identified the two dead as Khalid Hameed and Ako Karim.

Nuri Hama Ali, a commander of the Peshmerga forces in Kirkuk told Rudaw over the phone that they are looking into the attack and resulting casualties.

A Peshmerga told Rudaw on the condition of anonymity that a number of Peshmerga have been injured in the attack.

Afghanistan
2 Killed by Gunmen at Nangarhar Wedding: Family
[ToloNews] At least two people were killed and ten others were maimed after members allegedly belonging to local forces opened fire on a gathering at a wedding party in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
on Friday, the family claimed on Saturday.

According to the family, the incident took place on Friday night in Marghondai village of Surkroad district.

The family claims that the forces belonged to a local checkpoint.

"I told them that they are young--let them play the music--
...one sees the family's mistake immediately...
but they dragged me back and opened fire, some of the boys were maimed and two others were killed," said Noor Hazrat, a family member of the victims.

The Islamic Emirate spokesmen said the button men do not belong to the Islamic Emirate, adding the incident was caused by a personal dispute.
“They thought they were free. They were shown their error.”
Local officials confirmed the incident and said an investigation had been launched.

A security source told TOLOnews that two perpetrators had been arrested for firing.

The witness said the attackers also broke the musical instruments.

"It was nearly midnight. Three people entered the house. One of them broke the musical instruments and then went out and then opened fire on approximately 50 people," said Abdul Bassir, a witness.

The maimed were transferred to the provincial hospital.

"A person was shot in the leg. I wanted to help him. When I drove the car, one of them told me to go but another one opened fire," said Abdul Fawad, one of the maimed.

"They opened fire and then escaped," said Sayed Akbar, one of the maimed.
Al Arabiya has more:
Taliban fighters shoot two dead over listening to wedding music

Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighters rubbed out two wedding guests who were listening to music, local officials and a witness said Saturday, forcing Afghanistan’s new government to insist such attacks are not authorized.A relative of the victims said Taliban fighters had opened fire while music was being played at a wedding in Sorkhrud, in Nangarhar province in the east of the country, killing two and wounding two more.

Music was banned the last time the Taliban ruled Afghanistan and, while the new government has not yet issued such a decree, its leadership still frowns on its use in entertainment and sees it as a breach of Islamic law.

"The young men were playing music in a separate room and three Taliban fighters came and opened fire on them. The injuries of the two maimed are serious," he told news hounds.

Qazi Mullah Adel, front man for the Taliban governor in Nangarhar, confirmed the incident but did not provide further details. A security source said the two men who attacked the wedding are now in jug.

In Kabul, government front man Zabihullah Mujahid said he could not confirm the incident, but promised that it was not Taliban policy to execute music lovers.

"Investigations are continuing. So far, it’s not clear how it happened," he said. "Is it a personal matter or what?

"In the ranks of the Islamic Emirate no one has the right to turn anyone away from music or anything, only to try to persuade them. That is the main way," he told a news conference.

"If anyone kills someone by himself, even if they are our personnel, that is a crime and we will introduce them to the courts and they will face the law."

The previous Taliban government between 1996 and 2001 imposed a very strict interpretation of Islamic law and harsh public punishments.

But, since returning to power in mid-August after overthrowing the US-backed government the Taliban, seeking international recognition and an end to sanctions, has tried to show a more moderate face.

Kurdish migrants stuck on Belarus-Poland border claim ill-treatment, poor conditions
[Rudaw] Around 300 Kurdish migrants colonists remain in stalemate on the Belarus-Poland border, claiming physical harassment by border guards, a lack of food and water and dire cold.

Karwan Kamil, a migrant on the border, told Rudaw on the phone on Saturday that around 300 Kurdish migrants colonists from the Kurdistan Region have been stuck in the forest between Belarus and Poland for weeks and "are facing a terrible situation with no food or water."

He said that an 11-year-old child from Erbil has died of cold and hunger.

Kamil said that the Belarus police have treated them terribly.

"[Police] have broken arms and legs of many migrants colonists...they do not help us at all," he said, adding that more migrants colonists will suffer at the border should the situation continue.

Balen Yousif, a migrant from Zakho, is shown in video footage sent to Rudaw calling for help, claiming that border guards broke his limb.

"Belarus police beat me up and broke my leg," he said in Kurdish. "My leg has been like this for seven days now."

Thousands of migrants colonists have tried to gain entry to E.U. nations from Belarus this summer. The E.U. accuses Minsk of pushing migrants colonists to their borders in protest of sanctions imposed in response to a crackdown on dissent.

Poland declared a state of emergency on their border in late September. It has registered around 23,000 attempts to enter its territory this year, DW reported. Other migrants colonists have tried to enter Lithuania or Latvia, but have ended up in camps.

This year, roughly 37,000 Iraqis have left the country, according to data from the Summit Foundation for Refugee and Displaced Affairs (Lutka).

Iman Dler, one migrant who had traveled with her family, told Rudaw on Friday she had been separated from the rest of her family members when she was taken by Polish border guards to treat her broken leg. In an interview with Rudaw, she pleaded for help finding her family members, unaware at the time that her brother, 25-year-old Gaylan Dler, had died on the border the night prior.

The Polish parliament this month passed a law that grants border guards the power to push migrants colonists back across the border, Rooters reported. It’s part of an effort by Belarus’ neighbors to fortify their borders and stop the migration. The move, which could breach the country’s commitments under international law, has drawn criticism from human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
organizations.

Bill Frelick, Refugee and Migrant Rights Division Director at Human Rights Watch, told Rudaw on Wednesday that the move is "unacceptable."

"We are seeing that this is a standoff, basically, with Poland pushing people back," he said.

"Belarus, of course, is using refugees as pawns in order to negotiate with the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, and this is completely unacceptable, but it’s equally unacceptable for Poland to be pushing people back."

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is offering assistance to those who want to return or send the bodies of their dead back to the region.

"Those who are in a very bad situation and have entered Polish territory...some of them want to return to Kurdistan; we are helping them," the KRG’s representative in Poland Ziyad Rauf told Rudaw this week. "As for those who have bit the dust, we are trying to bring their bodies back to Kurdistan."

Separated from family at Poland-Belarus border, Kurdish woman pleads for help

[Rudaw] A Kurdish woman, desperate to reunite with her family who she said she was separated from when she was taken to a camp in a Polish town on the border with Belarus, appealed to other would-be migrants colonists not to risk the same journey to Europe.

Iman Dler, originally from Erbil, had been traveling with her husband, child, and brothers, hoping to ultimately reach Germany. Speaking to Rudaw’s Alla Shahly on Friday, she said her family was misled by smugglers and mistreated by Belarusian border guards.

The family left Erbil on October 12 and flew to Dubai and from there to Belarus where smugglers brought them to the border with Poland. They ended up stuck on the Belarus-Poland border for 12 days. "Every night, the Belarus border police would throw us into Poland’s territory and the Polish forces would send us back to Belarus," she said.

Dler does not know where her family members are now, saying they were sent back to Belarus by Polish border guards while she was taken to hospital after she collapsed and broke her leg.

"I’m pleading with you, please, do everything possible you can just to bring my child to me. He’s just five. One of my brothers suffers from a chronic disease. He’s suffering from diabetes. His health is very critical. Please, do everything to my child and brother. And still, I don’t know anything about my husband. Please, help us," said Dler.

She was not aware at the time that her brother, Gaylan, had died Thursday night on the border of suspected diabetes complications.

"It was very, very cold. You can’t imagine how cold it was. Children were with us. We used to drink wastewater. We had completely run out of food. My three brothers, my child, and I did not eat anything for five days in a row," she said.

The Grand Turk
Turkey deported 8,500 terror suspects since Syrian civil war began
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] More than 8,500 imported muscle have been deported from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
since the start of the Syrian civil war 10 years ago, the Ottoman Turkish Interior Ministry said on Saturday.Terror suspects from 102 countries were expelled, including 44 from the US and 1,075 from EU states, according to a ministry statement. In the first 10 months of this year, 61 suspects from eight EU countries were deported.
Wow! That's 850 a year, almost 71 a month on average.
The ministry said a total of 8,585 fighters were "deported as a result of Turkey’s efforts to secure its security within and beyond the border" since 2011. The deportees had left their home countries to join groups such as the ISIS group and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, as well as its affiliate in Syria.

Turkey has carried out three military campaigns in north Syria since 2016 and maintains a military presence in the northwest province of Idlib as well as other areas inside the Syrian border. It is currently conducting operations against the PKK in northern Iraq.

The ISIS group carried out a number of major terror attacks on Ottoman Turkish soil in 2015 and 2016 after Ankara joined the international coalition to fight the holy warriors. The bomb and gun attacks left hundreds dead.

The conflict with the PKK has caused tens of thousands of deaths since the group launched its armed campaign in southeast Turkey in 1984. The PKK is considered a terrorist organization by the US and most Western states.

The PKK’s Syrian wing was instrumental in supporting US-led efforts to drive ISIS fighters from northwest Syria. Washington’s ties to the Kurdish fighters, who it maintains are distinct from the PKK, has added to tensions with Ankara, which views them as terrorists.

SANDAG Board Approves Future Per-Mile Road Usage Tax to Fund Transit Projects
[TimeOfSanDiego] The San Diego Association of Governments board of directors Friday approved a "road usage charge" tax as part of several updates to the transit agency’s region plan, but its timeline was refined to more closely mirror a similar effort by the state.

The four-cent-per-mile tax — and two half-cent regional sales taxes scheduled for 2022 and 2028 — is envisioned as a way to help fund SANDAG’s long-term regional plan, an ambitious 30-year, $160 billion proposal which could include no-cost public transit and a 200-mile, $43 billion regional rail network.

According to SANDAG, the timeline of the tax hikes "was refined to adjust timing of the road usage charge to align more closely with state planning efforts, ensure adequate time to study and pilot potential strategies and include a diversity of funding sources that allows for flexibility in the future."

"The 2021 Regional Plan is an unprecedented investment in the San Diego region’s future," SANDAG Chair and Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear said in a statement. "We have listened to the community and are proposing a modernized transportation system through the 2021 Regional Plan that works for everyone, with affordable options that get us to the people and places we want to go in a safer and cleaner way."

SANDAG, San Diego County’s regional transportation planning agency, received more than 1,500 comments on the draft 2021 Regional Plan. Some were positive, but many were critical of the agency’s proposed tax increases.

San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond said the proposal was intended to "force everyone on to trolleys and buses" by pricing people out of their cars.

"This proposal should never see the light of day," Desmond said. "San Diegans already pay some of the highest prices to drive in the country. From the current gas taxes to a vehicle registration tax, San Diegans feel the effects, in their wallets, every day."

And now a word on SANDAG's director. Check out where he was educated:

Lebanon ministers hold crisis meeting over dispute with Saudi Arabia
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Lebanese crisis group of ministers met Saturday to discuss a deepening diplomatic rift with Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
that has seen the kingdom expel Leb
...the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity™, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade...
’s envoy to the Gulf state and ban all Lebanese imports.

The row over critical comments made by Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi about the Arab Coalition military intervention in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
threw the government into a new crisis amid calls for Kordahi’s resignation.

If Kordahi resigns, ministers backed by the heavily armed Shia Hezbollah group and its Amal ally could follow suit at a time when the government is already paralyzed by a dispute over an inquiry into the August 2020 Beirut blast.

Prime Minister Najib Mikati asked Kordahi on Friday evening to consider Lebanon’s "national interest" but stopped short of asking for his resignation.

Kordahi has been publicly backed by Hezbollah and has declined to apologize or resign over the comments.

The crisis risks widening to more Gulf states, with Bahrain also asking Lebanon’s ambassador to leave shortly after the Saudi decision.

The Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
said in a statement on Saturday it was concerned about the souring of Lebanese-Gulf relations and appealed to Gulf countries "to reflect on the measures proposed to be taken...in order to avoid further negative effects on the collapsing Lebanese economy."

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed "deep concern and regret over the rapid deterioration in Lebanese-Gulf relations...," the statement said.

Saudi Arabia has also recalled its ambassador to Lebanon for consultations.

Mikati has been hoping to improve ties with Gulf Arab states strained for years because of the influence wielded in Beirut by the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

In April, Saudi Arabia banned all fruit and vegetable imports from Lebanon, blaming an increase in drug smuggling.

The ban added to the economic woes of Lebanon, already in the throes of one of the deepest financial crises in modern times.

Lebanese president Aoun says he wants best relations with Saudis
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Lebanese President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
said on Saturday he wants the best relations with Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
after the kingdom summoned its ambassador, expelled Beirut’s envoy and banned Lebanese imports.Aoun’s statement in a tweet followed talks by a ministerial crisis management group aimed at easing a diplomatic rift that stemmed partly from comments by a Lebanese minister criticizing the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
The Lebanese presidency statement added that Aoun is keen on having the best relations with Saudi Arabia and on strengthening them by signing bilateral deals.

The row over critical comments made by Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi about the Arab Coalition military intervention in Yemen threw the government into a new crisis amid calls for Kordahi’s resignation.

Kordahi had said that Yemen’s Iran-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s were defending themselves and described the years long war in Yemen as "futile."

Saudi Arabia has affirmed its keenness on the Lebanese citizens residing in the Kingdom, "whom it considers part of the fabric and bond that unites the Saudi people and their Arab brothers residing in the Kingdom," according to the statement issued Friday.

The ministry added that it did not consider that what was said by Kordahi reflected the positions of the Lebanese community residing in the Kingdom.

Talking to news hounds on Saturday in Kabul, Mujahid said that the Islamic Emirate remain committed to preserving national interests. He said that no official discussed the Helmand River Treaty with Iran.

Mujahid said that the regional countries have expressed readiness for cooperation with Afghanistan.

"Uzbekistan pledged to transform power lines from Uzbekistan to Pul-e-Khumri (capital of Baghlan province)," he said.

Referring to the visit of the Turkmenistan Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, Mujahid said that Kabul assured Ashgabat they would provide security on the borders. According to him, Turkmenistan was ready to provide five-million-dollars of financial support to the TAPI project in Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate’s front man also referred to reports that the US allowed the Resistant Front to open an office in the US, saying the claim was baseless.

He once again reiterated that there will be no threat from Afghanistan’s soil to any country and that there is no need for the formation of an outpost on the borders.

Rooters has recently reported that the Islamic Emirate appointed an envoy for Afghanistan’s embassy in Islamabad. But according to Mujahid, no official envoy was appointed for the embassy.

"There have been serious discussions with Pakistain over the trade problems," he said, referring to the recent chaos at crossing areas with Pakistain.

Regarding a meeting that was recently held between the acting foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, Mujahid said that China expressed readiness to provide investment in Afghanistan

#1  I had thought that by now at least Pakistan, China and a few other countries would have recognized the Taliban Govt but so far no they haven't.

As of yesterday COB, still zero formal recognitions.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russian Su-35s Make First Ever Deployment to northern Syria
[MilitaryWatchMagazine] Russia has deployed a contingent of Su-35 heavyweight air superiority fighters to Qamishli Airport in northeastern Syria, marking the first ever major deployment of Russian fighters to the facility. The airport is very near the positions of Turkish and U.S. forces, which have deployed alongside various auxiliary militia forces to occupy large parts of northern Syria.

Unlike Russia which was given permission by the internationally recognised Syrian government to deploy military assets to Syrian soil, Turkey and the United States are widely seen to be in Syria illegally as they have permission of neither the UN Security Council nor of Damascus.

The deployment comes as Turkey has threatened to escalate its campaign against the Syrian government with the deployment of heavy weapons, after Ankara placed jihadist militant groups in northern Syria under its protection.

The Russian Air Force has frequently intervened on the side of Syrian government forces to intercept Turkish fighters and escort them out of Syrian airspace and to conduct airstrikes against militants backed by Turkey. Su-35s at Qamishli are equipped for air to air combat with R-77 and R-73 air to air missiles.

Turkey’s ability to counter these fighters remains limited, particularly since 2016 when a large portion of its Air Force’s officer corps were arrested following a failed coup attempt, and since it has been unable to purchase modern fighter aircraft after being evicted from the F-35 program.

The Su-35 entered Russian service from 2014 and saw its first ever overseas deployments to Syria in early 2016. This followed deployments of Su-30SM and Su-34 fighters in September 2015, and a few weeks later of Su-27SM3 fighters, all of which are based on the same Flanker airframe as the Su-35 and participated in the initial stages of operations against various Western, Turkish and Qatari-backed Islamist insurgent groups in Syria.
