The Navy Isn't Prepared To Face The Growing Diesel Submarine Threat
[The Drive] Before I fully understood the implications of AIP, I believed there was nothing new to fear in the old. I was wrong. In fact, if you take into account propulsion, tactics, and implementation by adversary navies, there really isn’t anything old about the new. Once again, we have placed ourselves in a disadvantaged position. ASW created the dragon that is AIP— but there is no reason ASW can’t develop the means to slay it.
Long article, the best stuff starts about 2/3 of the way through.

#1  Diesel subs in shallow water have always been a huge danger. The Soviets kept them in shallow waters near their harbors and the Chinese keep them in the shallow waters between them and Taiwan.

All the turbulence in shallow waters make them hard to hear and if they are stationary or running slow, those batteries make zero noise and can stay down for a very long time. MAD detection (magnetic anomaly detector) is about the only way to find them in that state and that requires planes to fly in hostile skies.

Flying drones or swimming drones might work equipped with MAD, but no R&D has been put to that as far as I know.

#3  I suspect active sonar could help a lot. All a UUV drone would need would be a really loud pinger and enough AI (which wouldn't need to be much) to avoid broadcasting at the location of its launch vehicle. It wouldn't need any processing, the launch vehicle could do that.

Fatal bullet fired on ‘Rust' set may have been ‘sabotage,' armorer's lawyers say
[TODAY] The attorneys for the armorer in charge of weapons on the set of "Rust" say they are investigating whether someone put a live bullet in a box of dummy rounds with the purpose of "sabotaging the set," resulting in the death of a cinematographer from a prop gun fired by star Alec Baldwin.

Jason Bowles and Robert Gorence, the attorneys for armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 24, spoke exclusively on TODAY Wednesday about how they believed a live round ended up in the gun fired by Baldwin, which has made their client a focus of the investigation into the death of Halyna Hutchins.

Bowles said there was a box of bullets on the set labeled as dummy rounds that Gutierrez-Reed pulled from to load the gun. He believed it was possible a third party may have put a live round in the box.

"I believe that somebody who would do that would want to sabotage the set, want to prove point, want to say that they’re disgruntled, they’re unhappy," Bowles told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie. "And we know that people had walked off the set the day before."

Asked if he thought a crew member could be a suspect, Bowles said "I think you can’t rule anybody out at this point."

"We know there was a live round in a box of dummy rounds that shouldn’t have been there," Bowles said. "We have people who had left the set, who had walked out because they were disgruntled. We have a time frame between 11 (a.m.) and 1 (p.m.), approximately, that day, in which the firearms at times were unattended, so there was opportunity to tamper with this scene."

Gorence added that the film set's prop ammunition was in a truck "that was completely unattended at all times, giving someone access and opportunity."

NBC News has not verified Bowles' allegation that firearms were left unattended on set during that time period or Gorence's allegation that the ammunition was left unsupervised in a prop truck.

Slate of conservative candidates declare victory in hotly contested Denver suburb school board race
[FOXNEWS] Douglas County, Colo. — A slate of political novices in Douglas County, Colorado, declared victory Tuesday night in a school board race that made national headlines.Christy Williams, one of four "Kids First" candidates, read off initial results to raucous applause at a supporter appreciation party in Parker, Colorado, in the moments after polls closed.

"I am humbled to my core," Williams told Fox News. "I think there's a lot to look at, but ultimately I hope to give parents the ultimate authority over their children."

Williams was joined by Mike Peterson, Becky Myers and Kaylee Winegar. Together, they hold a lead over the teacher federation-backed CommUnity Matters slate, comprised of incumbent board members Krista Holtzmann and Kevin Leung and newcomers Ruby Martinez and Juli Watkins.

Peterson and Myers led by double-digit percentage points as of late Tuesday night, local time. Williams leds Leung by more than 7,000 votes and Winegar led Holtzmann by more than 8,000 votes.

Local NBC affiliate 9news called the race for the conservative slate after 10 p.m. MST.

The results indicate that more than half of the seven-member board could be replaced.

Arabia
Battle of Marib could be nearing key point, affects Saudi Arabia, Iran [cool Hilux technical]
[JPost] Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...

reaches another potential turning point. More than two dozen people were reported killed this week by a Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
rebel missile attack that struck a mosque and school. The Houthi rebels are backed by Iran. Iran has helped provide them support in missile and drone technology.

Saudi Arabia intervened in Yemen to stop the Houthis from taking over key cities like Aden. Since then Riyadh became bogged down in Yemen supporting the embattled government forces. The UAE, which had once played a role alongside Riyadh, now appears to have taken a different path in Yemen. What this means is that Riyadh could risk watching its Yemen allies lose a key battle on its doorstep in Marib in Yemen.

Marib is several hundred kilometers from the Saudi border but if the rebels take the city it will be a symbolic defeat. We know it is important to Iran because Iran’s Tasnim media is highlighting the battle. The Houthis call this offensive the "spring of victory" and a long article explaining their tactics was published on Monday. The Houthi rebel spokesperson "said that Yemeni army forces, with the help of tribal forces, have carried out successful operations in the provinces of Ma'rib, Shabwa and al-Bayda," Tasnim says. The Houthi "front man announced the liberation of an area of 1,100 square kilometers in the second phase of the Victory Spring liberation operation."

The Houthis claim they are facing tough battles. They claim they had been hit by 159 Saudi Arabia air force air strikes. In turn they have carried out 86 operations against the "invading aircraft." The Houthis claim their missile unit has also carried out 47 operations, 31 of which were inside the occupied territories of Yemen and 16 inside the depths of Saudi Arabia. They openly brag about attacking Saudi Arabia with a total of 141 operations involving Houthi drones. The Houthis acquired drones with Iranian technology. Some reports say Iran has even based drones in Yemen that can reach Israel and can attack tankers in the Gulf of Oman. In July a drone attacked a tanker, killing two people. Israel and the US blamed Iran for the attack.

The Houthis increasingly portray themselves as part of the Iranian alliance system in the region with Hezbollah and Iraqi militias. The Houthis have always been openly antisemitic, their slogan calls for "cursing the Jews." The slogan is "God is Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse on the Jews, Victory to Islam." In the recent Tasnim report the Houthis claimed that they were fighting against the "aggressors and occupiers and mercenaries of Washington and Tel Aviv." Clearly they believe their battle against Saudi Arabia is part of their overall war on Israel and the US. Marib is merely a stepping stone.

The Houthi spokesperson said that their forces "were successful in liberating most areas of Ma'rib province and will continue their jihadist duties towards their people and country," Iran’s Tasnim says. In recent fighting some 200 people have been killed. Now the Houthis are warning Marib’s defenders to stop fighting. "The Yemeni war is a complete defeat for the aggressors," the report says. The Houthis say Saudi Arabia's war "criminal and barbaric." They are now driving to complete the siege of Marib and try to strangle the city.

Meanwhile Saudi Arabia and its allies in the Gulf have expelled Leb
...In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial...
’s envoys and have slammed the Lebanese Information Minister who appeared to back the Houthis. The UAE has urged its citizens to leave Lebanon and has said its diplomats left the country. Riyadh wants Hezbollah to stop its slow takeover of Lebanon. Riyadh wants the Hezbollah presence reduced. Iran looks to want to pressure Saudi Arabia in Marib perhaps as part of a much larger ploy to strike at Saudi Arabia from Yemen as Riyadh tries to pressure Hezbollah in Lebanon. That means that Riyadh faces a regional agenda of Iranian threats stretching thousands of kilometers from Yemen via the Gulf of Oman to Kuwait and through Iraq and Albukamal and then through Syria to Lebanon. Israel also sees this arc of threats as a serious concern.

Ethiopia's war marked by ‘extreme brutality' from all sides: UN
[Aljazeera] A UN joint investigation into alleged atrocities in Ethiopia found all sides committed grave abuses that may amount to crimes against humanity and war crimes in the yearlong war in the Tigray region.
OR it could just be a Cultural Thang™. Who are we to judge?
The report, a collaboration by the UN human rights office with the government-created Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC), was released on Wednesday as the country enters a new state of emergency with rival Tigray forces threatening to advance on the capital, Addis Ababa.

More than 1,300 rapes were reported to authorities, with many more likely to have been unreported.

Michelle Bachelet, the UN high commissioner for human rights, said the Tigray conflict has been marked by "extreme brutality".

"Civilians in Tigray have been subjected to brutal violence and suffering," Bachelet said in a press conference on Wednesday.

"The joint investigation team has covered numerous violations and abuses including unlawful killings and extrajudicial executions, torture, sexual and gender-based violence, violations against refugees and forced displacement of civilians."

The majority of the violations documented between November 2020 and June "appear to have been committed by Ethiopian and Eritrean forces." The UN has since seen an increase in the number of reports of abuses by Tigrayan forces, as well as by Ethiopian and Eritrean forces.

#7  From British press:

British troops infiltrated the enemy’s rear area causing havoc by striking high value targets and command and control nodes, which paralysed any counterattack.
Throughout the exercise, the commando artillery unit destroyed multiple enemy vehicle and artillery positions

Consider your history. British commandos are possibly applying an old lesson learned from the Boers in how to fight a larger opponent.

US Marines need to do a re-evaluation on how they organize and how they fight as units and need to review their officers for basic military competence instead of social justice compliance.

The old adage is that you fight the way you trained. If so, the USMC (and by extension the US Military in general) are in deep shit against anything other than third-world rabbles. The rot starts at the head. Anyone that came to flag rank under Obama is highly suspect in my book. Starting with Gen "white rage" Milley and his ilk, all the way over to Commandant Gen. David H. Berger, and any and all staff associated with them.

The biggest question now is who would be on the other side - clearly not Biden or Sanders or Clinton, and Harris looks to be unpopular internally - look further down the bench, there could be somebody important we have not noticed.

Agree! We need a president who can complete two consecutive terms. The clean-up will take at least that long.

Ilhan Omar HUMILIATED As Her Radical Push To Defund [Replace] Police Is Rejected By Voters In MN
[100% Fed Up via Gateway] Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN) has been railing against law enforcement ever since she won fellow Muslim Keith Ellison’s House seat in 2018.

100 Percent Fed Up reports — The immigrant who came to America from Somalia, one of the most violent and lawless nations in the world, used the death of George Floyd to ignite her base and encourage them to make their communities less safe by voting to defund the police.

This evening, only hours before the polls closed, Ilhan Omar pleaded with her radical followers to go to the polls and support proposal #2, a proposal to replace the police. If Omar is missing high crime and lax law enforcement, perhaps Rep. Omar should consider making a move back to Somalia?

Unfortunately, the ultimate grievance representative from Minnesota couldn’t have been more out of touch with her constituents, as the defund the police proposal that she pushed to the end failed in the liberal state of Minnesota.

Palestinian Sheikh Jarrah families reject proposed Supreme Court deal
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian families in Sheikh Jarrah reject a Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
deal that would see them stay on as protected tenants, staving off the threat of eviction.

The compromise "prepares the way for our right to the land to be taken away," the families say in a statement.

The Jewish group Nahalat Shimon seeks to evict the Paleostinian residents, who live in homes built on land owned by Jews before 1948. Nahalat Shimon avowedly seeks to expand the Jewish enclave in Sheikh Jarrah as much as possible and "Judaize" the neighborhood.

The compromise would likely have seen the Paleostinians avoid eviction for at least 15 years.

The planned evictions in Sheikh Jarrah were a key flashpoint in the escalation to the 11-day May conflict between Israel and Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip.

In recent weeks, the Paleostinian families have struggled to reach a consensus on the Supreme Court’s deal, with some opposed and others more willing to accept. At the same time, they faced pressure to reject the offer.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
called the families a few days ago and asked them to refuse, according to the terror leader’s office.

Iran FM tests positive for COVID at key moment for nuclear talks
Insh’allah. It’ll be fun to see if Allah wants to fire him from his current employment.
[IsraelTimes] Iran’s foreign minister has tested positive for COVID-19, local media reports, at a key moment in diplomatic efforts to revive a nuclear agreement with major powers.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian "tested positive today for coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
," the Tasnim news agency reports.

The 57-year-old career diplomat, who was named foreign minister in August by ultraconservative President Ebrahim Raisi, was a close confidant of military strategist General Qassem Soleimani
who was assassinated in a US dronezap early last year.

"His general health is satisfactory and he is continuing his daily duties from quarantine," ministry front man Saeed Khatibzadeh tells the official IRNA news agency.

Khatibzadeh had said just Monday that talks with the remaining parties to the 2015 nuclear deal would resume "in the next two or three weeks," although he added that ministers would not take part.

The talks have been on hold since before Raisi’s election in June.

Sebastian was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Lycurgus (Lawrence) Robert and Stella Armstrong Sabiston. After leaving Alabama and starting a career on the stage, she changed the spelling of her name to Sebastian.

Before appearing in films, Sebastian performed onstage in the musical revue, George White's Scandals. Her first contact in Hollywood was Robert Kane, who gave her a film test at United Studios. She co-starred with Joan Crawford and Anita Page in a popular series of MGM romantic dramas, including Our Dancing Daughters (1928) and Our Blushing Brides (1930). Sebastian appeared in 1929's Spite Marriage, where she was cast opposite the then-married Buster Keaton, with whom she began an affair.

By the mid-1930s, Sebastian was semi-retired from acting after marrying Hopalong Cassidy star William Boyd. After their 1936 divorce, she returned to acting appearing in mostly bit parts. Her last onscreen appearance was in the 1948 film The Miracle of the Bells.

Songwriting
Sebastian co-wrote the ballad "The Leaves Mustn't Fall" with Jack Kenney. Moon Mullican recorded it in 1950 and 1958, and it has become a bluegrass standard.

Hackers release stolen medical data of 290,000 Israeli patients
[IsraelTimes] The Iran-linked hacking group, Black Shadow, uploads what it says is the full database of personal information from Israel’s Machon Mor medical institute, with information on some 290,000 patients.

It is the second major leak today by the group. Earlier in the day, it released what it said was the full database of personal user information from the Atraf website, an LGBTQ dating service and nightlife index.

Cyber experts immediately warned against downloading the files the group releases.

The group uploaded the Atraf file to a channel on the Telegram messaging app after a ransom demand of $1 million in digital currency to prevent the leak was apparently not paid.

Black Shadow had initially hacked the CyberServe Israeli internet hosting company on Friday, taking down its servers and a number of sites, among them Atraf.

Europe
German woman charged with membership in foreign terror groups
[IsraelTimes] Federal prosecutors charge a German woman with membership in two foreign terrorist groups, violating weapons law and committing her son as a fighter to a foreign terrorist group.

German federal prosecutors say that Stefanie A., whose last name is withheld in line with privacy rules, left Germany in 2016 with her son, who was 13 at the time, in order to live with her husband in Syrian territory that was then under the control of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

She first joined the terrorist organization Jund al-Aqsa and later Islamic State, or IS. She is accused of willingly making her son available to the Jund al-Aqsa and to the IS as a fighter.

Shortly after her arrival in Raqqa in Syria in 2017, the defendant joined the IS, initially living with her husband in Raqqa and managing his household. The couple, who were financially provided for by the IS, made their son available to the group. He completed military training and was called up for combat operations. At 15, he was killed in a kaboom in March 2018, the prosecutor’s statement said.

A. herself was equipped with an boom belt and carried a rifle during her membership in IS. She and her husband remained loyal to the Islamic State until the end of the group’s reign, and surrendered to Kurdish troops in February 2019. She was arrested upon her arrival in Germany in March.

Iran says its fuel system is fully operational a week after cyber attack
[IsraelTimes] Iran’s fuel distribution system resumed full operations today, a week after it was paralyzed by a cyber attack, authorities say.

"The country’s 4,300 service stations are once again connected to the central fuel distribution system," the spokesperson of the Iranian National Oil Product Distribution Company, Fatemeh Kahi, says in a statement. "From now on, all the service stations will be able to supply subsidized petrol using the digital cards," Kahi adds.

A cyber attack on October 26 brought all fuel distribution stations in the country to a halt, resulting in traffic jams and long lines at gas stations. The attack prompted sharp responses from top Iranian officials, who blamed outside actors.

On Sunday, leading Iranian general Gholamreza Jalali accused the United States and Israel of being behind the attack.

Syria says Israeli airstrikes hit targets near Damascus
[IsraelTimes] State media says missiles launched from northern Israel caused ’material damage,’ no reports of casualties; attack comes day after rare daytime strike in same region

Israeli aircraft attacked targets near the Syrian capital of Damascus early Wednesday morning, Syrian state media reported.

The SANA news agency said the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s hit targets around Damascus and caused "material damage." The report gave no details on the sites hit and there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The report said Syrian air defenses responded to the missiles that were launched from over northern Israel.

There was no comment from the Israel Defence Forces.

The reported strike comes three days after the Israeli military bombed a number of locations surrounding Damascus in a rare daytime strike, according to Syrian media, reportedly targeting advanced weapons heading to the Hezbollah terror group and other Iranian proxies.

How 'Let's Go Brandon' became a swipe at Joe Biden — and national media
[NYPOST] The "Let’s Go Brandon" message on the Hoods Up Quick Lube sign was up for four days, but it was long enough for the owners to make their point.Ever since Oct. 3, when an NBC news hound interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown mistook a vulgar chant from the crowd — "F—k Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences. So does Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle...
" — as "Let’s Go Brandon," the phrase has gone viral. Within days, people across the country were sharing their displeasure with the president by putting up homemade "Let’s Go Brandon" signs along roadways. They’ve been chanting the message at high school football games, wearing it on the backs of T-shirts, and displaying it on digital signs at construction sites where they work. A rapper performing a "Let’s Go Brandon" tune on TikTok has shot to the top of the iTunes charts. Recently, a Southwest Airlines pilot was allegedly captured on video saying "Let’s Go Brandon" over the flight’s intercom, leading to an internal investigation.

Bill Bretz, chair of the Westmoreland County Republican Party, said he posted a photo of the Hoods Up Quick Lube sign on his party’s Facebook page last Thursday and it quickly caught on.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Mother of Convicted Loudoun County School Sex Offender Blames the Victim
[BREITBART] The mother of the skirt-wearing teen who was found guilty of "forcible sodomy" in a girls’ bathroom sexual assault in Loudoun County, Virginia, blamed her son’s victim for the crime. According to the criminal’s mother, he is just "a 15-year-old boy that wanted to have sex in the bathroom," and the victim didn’t do enough to fight back. She said, "You’re 15. You can reasonably defend yourself. You’re not just going to sit there and take it."
Confession: A long, long time ago I was fifteen. I've never worn a skirt. I've never been inside a ladies' room. I've often wanted to have sex; that's a hormone thing with men. I've never had sex in a school bathroom. No one's ever had to fight me off, and in fact there were too many occasions where I was too good at taking hints.
"If I was in a position where I was about to be raped, I would be screaming, kicking, everything," the mother told Daily Mail. "You’re 15. You can reasonably defend yourself. You’re not just going to sit there and take it."

"And so, because there wasn’t a presence of a fight, he felt it was okay to keep going," the mother added, in an apparent defense of her son’s behavior. She also mentioned that the victim didn’t immediately report the assault.

The mother went on to say that her son depicted the rape as an accident, telling her that he didn’t mean to insert his genitalia inside the girl’s anus, and that he was surprised when it caused her pain.
This woman appears to be entirely divorced from reality. No wonder her kid's a sicko.
"He said he was intending for vaginal and it ended up for 10 seconds as anal," the mother said.

Africa Horn
Top US military commander concludes trip to East Africa
[Garowe] The US Africa Command boss General Stephen Townsend has concluded his trip to East Africa, Horn of Africa, and the Western side of the continent, in which the fight against al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
prominently featured.

In his company, Townsend was accompanied by Assistant to the President for Homeland Security Dr. Liz Sherwood-Randall, and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Chris Maier visited U.S. personnel and operational facilities in Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, and Niger, Oct. 25-29.

During their trip, the top security officers from the US discussed matters of counterterrorism, with the role of Washington also being evaluated. The US has been a major security partner of the continent and has close to 7000 soldiers across Africa.

The delegation recognized service members at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti; Mogadishu, Somalia; and Manda Bay, Kenya, who are responsible for supporting local and regional partners executing the counterterrorism campaign against al-Shabaab.

Al-Shabaab gunnies control large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia and have even sprung outside the Horn of Africa nation. Particularly, Somalia has struggled to contain the murderous Moslems, who are keen to topple the fragile UN-backed Somalia administration.

The trip comes at the time the US is evaluating whether to dispatch soldiers to Somalia, just months after unprecedented withdrawal. Initially, there were close to 700 US troops in the country, even as the US continues to support Danab Special Forces.

In Niger, Townsend led the delegation to air bases in Agadez and Niamey to meet with American forces who work with Nigerien partners to monitor and disrupt security threats, support hostage recovery efforts, and project power in West Africa, the US Africa Command noted.

While in Niamey, the delegation met with Nigerien President Mohammed Bazoum and discussed ways to further counter terrorist groups in the Sahel. The party also met with U.S. Embassy officials and with French Ambassador to Niger Alexandre Garcia and Barkhane Force Commander Maj. Gen. Iraq
Two persons were sentenced to death for killing a demonstrator
[EN.ALGHADEERTV.NET] Two persons charged with killing a person participating in the October demonstrations in Basra, southern Iraq have pled guilty, and the court sentences them to the capital penalty.

According to a statement by the Supreme Judicial Council, the convicts confessed to shooting the victim while participating in a demonstration near the Shatt al-Arab schools.
Rudaw adds:
Dijlah news hound Ahmad Abd al-Samad and his cameraman Safaa Ghali were rubbed out whilst covering the demonstrations in the southern port city of Basra last year. Basra's criminal court sentenced their alleged killer to death on Monday.

Prominent activist Ihab al-Wazni was killed in Karbala in May of this year. The murder sparked outrage among activists and on social media. Activist and journalist Ali al-Mikdam was kidnapped and tortured in July, and was later freed.

At least 487 protestors were killed and over 7,000 were maimed during the protests, the United Nations

Jury is shown moment Kyle Rittenhouse shoots dead BLM protestor and AR-15 he used: Claims he killed two in self-defense because one threatened to kill him and one tried to 'decapitate' him with skateboard, on first day of murder trial
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] The double murder trial for Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, 18, kicked off today

  • Rittenhouse is accused of gunning down three people with a military-style semi-automatic rifle last year, killing two and injuring one

  • Prosecutors said Rittenhouse was the only person who shot and killed people despite hundreds of others who were armed amid the chaos

  • The defense claims the first victim threatened to kill Rittenhouse and a friend, and the second tried to 'decapitate' him with his skateboard after a crowd attacked Rittenhouse

  • Defense attorney Mark Richards also said the N-word twice as he echoed the words spoken by one of the victims who was filmed taunting Rittenhouse, who is white, with the slur

  • Rittenhouse was charged with two counts of murder, one of attempted homicide, and two of recklessly endangering safety for firing his weapon near others

  • Dominick Black, who was dating Rittenhouse's sister and referred to him as a brother, said they were defending a local business from rioters and that he got a call from the teen who yelled, 'I shot somebody!'

  • A 20-person jury was selected in one day for the homicide trial, which is expected to last two weeks

#4  There will undoubtedly be some jurors who believe the kid had no business being there with a gun in the first place and has to be guilty of something, so they will vote to convict on something. And likely more who will vote to convict to avoid more riots, anticipating an appeal will fix it for them. Whether those groups add up to a conviction will remain to be seen.

#5  Glenmore, I doubt the jury has the cognitive ability to think that far ahead to the appeals process. In fact they select juries based on their lack of critical thinking

#6  Buggsy, I was on a jury where something like the first scenario came into play. The defendant had clearly committed a crime but we were not able to figure out from the 'reading' of the legal statutes of the charges which (if either) of the charges applied, and of course could get no legal guidance from the judge (just another reading of gobbledy-gook) so we convicted of the lesser charge.

#7  ^ No doubt the charging process as it's done now is a weakness of our jury system. For one thing, it's like watching a game and then being told what the rules are.

#8  Matt, I was and remain convinced we did the right thing. I was on another jury later and again we 'fought' the legal system to achieve what we believed to be justice. I am amazed at the wisdom of our jury system, and can only encourage all of us to submit to the inconvenience and BS and do their duty.

#9  ^ Glenmore, a very large majority of judges and lawyers (at least the ones who have seen the inside of a courtroom) would agree with you that juries usually (1) work their tails off to get it right and (2) usually do get it right, as I'm sure your juries did. But the legal system should not require jurors to unmake legal sausage to do their jobs.

It is truly impressive to me to see how seriously jurors take their duties. That's the soul of the Republic in action.

#10  It's not uncommon (but hardly a carved in stone rule) that a defense lawyer will tell a likely guilty client to take chances with a jury if they can't get a plea. The same attorney will often tell a likely innocent client to take their chances with a judge alone.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man killed his daughter's boyfriend for selling her into sex trafficking ring, police say
[NBC] A Washington state father killed his daughter's 19-year-old boyfriend for selling her into a sex trafficking ring, police said.
Seems like a rational reaction to me.
The boyfriend's remains were discovered in the trunk of an abandoned car on East Everett Avenue in Spokane last month, police said in a press release Monday. Investigators believe the victim was killed in November 2020.

The girl's father, John Eisenman, 60, was charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond. Attorney information was not listed for him.

Police said Eisenman learned in October 2020 that his juvenile daughter had been sex trafficked in the Seattle area and "obtained information" that her boyfriend was responsible, according to the press release.

Eisenman was able to rescue his daughter and get her back to Spokane that same month, police said.

When the father learned that his daughter's boyfriend was going to be at a location in Airway Heights, Eisenman drove there and waited for the 19-year-old to arrive.

"During that encounter Eisenman abducted the victim, tying him up and placing him in the trunk of a vehicle. Eisenman subsequently assaulted the victim by hitting him in the head with a cinder block and then stabbed him repeatedly, causing his death," police said. "After the homicide, Eisenman drove the vehicle to a remote area in North Spokane County and abandoned the car with the body still inside."
Nope. Beating his head in with a rock seems like just the thing.
Courtesy of Skidmark, the Daily Mail adds:
  • Aaron Sorenson's rotting corpse was found in car's trunk in the city last month

  • He allegedly sex trafficked Eisenman's juvenile daughter into Seattle last year

  • Eisenman rescued daughter Oct. 2020 and then went after Sorenson, cops say

  • He stabbed the teen to death, stuffed him car trunk in Nov. 2020, it is alleged

  • Sorenson's body was only discovered last month, leading to Eisenman's arrest
Coulda been worse.
He might have shot him on a movie set.

Quoting the officials, news agency GNS reported that Adil Hussain, son of Mir Haider Shah of Takia Badarkot was arrested along with the arms from his house during a search operation.

A police officer told GNS that Shah is an "OGW besides being involved in narco-militancy'’.

Upon further questioning, the accused disclosed that another person Faraz Ahmed son of Mir Shah, a resident of Padna Prara is the main supplier of weapons to hard boyz from whom he received the seized weapons.

During subsequent searches, four pistols along with five magazines and a packet of "brown sugar like substance" was recovered from the latter’s house, an official said.

Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were maimed by shots fired by the presidential guard in Bangui, the U.N. said Tuesday.

The U.N. called the incident, which took place on Monday, "a deliberate and unspeakable attack" on an Egyptian police contingent that was unarmed at the time and travelling in a bus marked U.N.

Members of the Egyptian Constituent Police Unit "came under heavy fire from the presidential guard without prior warning or any response, while they were unarmed," the U.N. said.

The incident happened around 120 meters (yards) from the presidential residence, the U.N. added. In its attempt to leave the area, the bus "hit a woman who lost her life," said MINUSCA, adding that it had "offered its condolences to the victim's family" visited later in the day.

The members of the police unit had arrived earlier on Monday at Bangui airport as part of a periodic rotation and troop deployment in CAR. They were heading towards their base in a bus clearly marked "with U.N. initials," said Vladimir Monteiro, MINUSCA front man.

Bitar Reportedly Vows Not to Bow to 'Pressures or Threats'
[An Nahar] Judge Tarek Bitar, the lead investigative judge probing the Beirut port blast, stressed to the families of the victims on Tuesday that "pressures or threats will not push him to back down," al-Jadeed TV reported.

"I will not back down from the Beirut port file unless I’m removed through the available legal means," al-Jadeed quoted Bitar as telling the families during a meeting on Tuesday.

"Bitar told the families of the deaders that he is continuing the investigation and all its aspects in a simultaneous manner and that the issue of selectivity is baseless, seeing as the probe is summoning anyone who received and looked into a memo related to the port file," the TV network added.

He also told the families that some of those charged have wrongfully accused him of only tackling one part of the file, emphasizing that this claim is unfounded and that "the probe cannot be revealed because it is confidential."

Al-Shabaab makes advances in central Somalia after troops pull out

has reportedly set a base in the Mudug region, in what locals say could disrupt operations within the area, which has been enjoying peace and stability for a couple of months.

According to reports, the al-Shabaab Death Eaters established a base at Wisil town in Central Somalia, after many months of fighting with government troops who were based within the town which is considered strategic.

The Death Eaters are yet to make their entry to the town, but they have set a base a few miles outside, in what could trigger a fierce shootout with the government troops both from the federal government and those who are close to the Galmadug administration.

About two months ago, the Death Eaters engaged government and Galmadug troops in a fierce shootout, leading to a temporary seizure of the town. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the Death Eaters were forced to pull back after a swift response from government forces.

Already, the al-Shabaab Death Eaters are in full control of controls Ba'adweyn and Amara towns after it dislodged government forces in September. Authorities in Wisil are yet to respond to claims from locals who are now living in fear.

The Death Eaters are fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed Somalia administration, but concerted efforts by the Somali National Army [SNA] and African Union

Mission Forces [AMISOM] have led important battles, pushing the Death Eaters out of strategic areas.

For months, the mission troops and SNA soldiers have managed to liberate important towns across Somalia. The Horn of Africa nation is also planning to hold Lower House elections and the presidential polls later on in the coming weeks.

Pakistan Releases Hundreds of Members of the Banned TLP Group
[SPUTNIKNEWS] Alongside demands for the expulsion of the French envoy from Islamabad, the radical Islamist group Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP), has been pressing for the release of its leader, Saad Rizvi, and others. Province has released at least 860 workers of the Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) on Tuesday. Details of the agreement have not been made public by the government.

Dawn News reported on Tuesday that government officials had released workers who had been earlier arrested who are not facing formal criminal charges.

The Punjab government has also agreed to withdraw its appeal filed against the release of TLP leader Saad Rizvi in the Lahore High Court. Since April, Rizvi has been detained by the Punjab government after the TLP was declared a proscribed group under an anti-terror law.

Last week, Pakistain's National Security Advisor Moeed W. Yusuf vowed that government would not "allow armed militias" in the country. Warning the workers of the banned Islamist outfit, Yusuf said that the group "has crossed the red line and exhausted the state's patience."

The TLP has been holding protests at regular intervals over Emmanuel Macron's refusal last year to outlaw caricatures of Islam's key religious figure, Mohammed.

Europe
France to offer evicted Calais migrants shelter, envoy says
[DW] Hundreds of migrants colonists have set up camp in the northern French port in the hope of eventually making it to Britannia. According to coasties statistics, migrant crossings across the channel have soared in 2021.

Moslem colonists Migrants evicted from makeshift camps in the French city of Calais will be given a place to shelter rather than left to wander the streets, the head of La Belle France's immigration office Didier Leschi said Tuesday.

"We will systematically offer (migrants colonists) accommodation," the envoy told the AFP news agency.

French authorities routinely tear down migrant tents in the northern port city, where hundreds of people are camping under bridges or in the forest as they wait for a chance to cross the English Channel to Britannia.

'NO MORE SURPRISE EVICTIONS'
Leschi told AFP that migrants colonists would now be offered an alternative place to stay — not in Calais but elsewhere in the northern Hauts-de-La Belle France region.

He also said there would be "no more surprise evictions," and that migrants colonists would be given more time —"about 45 minutes" — to gather their possessions.

The announcement came amid a hunger strike by an elderly Calais priest over the way homeless foreigners are treated in the city.

PREVENTING ANOTHER 'JUNGLE'
Calais used to be home to a shantytown known as the "Jungle." Up to 10,000 migrants colonists lived there before police demolished it in 2016.

La Belle France's government is keen to prevent another sprawling camp from popping up in its place.

An estimated 2,000 people, including at least 300 unaccompanied children, were staying in and around encampments in and around Calais in mid-2021, according to humanitarian groups.

HRW: FRENCH POLICE GUILTY OF 'ABUSIVE PRACTICES'
In a report last month, Human Rights Watch accused French police of mistreating migrants colonists by tearing down their tents, forcing them to wander the streets and confiscating their belongings.

"The authorities carry out these abusive practices with the primary purposes of forcing people to move elsewhere, without resolving their migration status or lack of housing, or of deterring new arrivals," it said in the report.

SPIKE IN CHANNEL CROSSINGS
Moslem colonists Migrants from the Middle East, Asia and Africa have long used northern La Belle France as a launching point to reach Britannia, either by stowing away in trucks or in small boats organized by people traffickers.

Authorities say migrant camps should be cleared because they are a haven for smugglers who charge exorbitant prices for their services.

According to French coasties statistics, a total of 15,400 people attempted to cross the Channel in the first eight months of this year, an increase of 50% in comparison with the figure for the whole of 2020.

French transport police shot known wolf armed with a knife shouting “Allahu akbar” at Paris’ Saint-Lazare train station
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

French transport police shot and gravely maimed a man at a Gay Paree railway station who threatened them with a knife while shouting "Allahu Akbar" (God is Greatest) in Arabic, police and prosecutors said on Tuesday.

The man rushed at police just before midnight on Monday at Saint-Lazare, one of the capital's busiest train stations, a police source who asked not to be named told AFP, confirming a report first broadcast on BFM TV.

The source added that the man drew a knife from a bag as he shouted "Allahu Akbar".

"The two officers used their service weapons to defend themselves and neutralise him. The maimed individual was taken care of by the emergency services," said a front man for La Belle France's national rail operator SNCF.

Gay Paree prosecutors told AFP that the man's life was in danger after being shot twice by the transport police, known as Suge in La Belle France.

An investigation has been opened into attempted murder of a public official, incitement to terrorism and violence with a weapon, said the prosecutors.

A source close to the investigation, who asked not to be named, said that the man was not known to the security services.
The Times of Israel adds:
According to BFMTV, the man also shouted: "La Belle France is ruled by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The outlet said that the incident began when guards tried to question the man for not wearing a mask.

The man was reportedly hospitalized at death's door with bullet wounds to his torso.

The suspect was not previously known to intelligence services but was known to security services for previous violent mostly peaceful conduct, reports said.

Dems To Sneek Tax break for the rich into the BBB Bill
[Yahoo]
  • Democrats are ready to repeal a Trump-era policy that cut tax breaks for residents of wealthy states.

  • Democrats have previously argued that capping the deduction for local taxes impacts wealthier blue states more.

  • However, one budget expert calls it a "gigantic expensive tax cut for the rich."

Democrats are about to include a tax break in their $1.75 trillion social spending plan that will overwhelmingly benefit higher-earning Americans.

On Tuesday, Rep. Josh Gottheimer
(Dem representing NJ-5)
of New Jersey wrote on Twitter that the provision had been added into the plan. A Democratic aide familiar with negotiations told Insider that Democrats were eyeing a five-year tax break that runs through 2025, a development first reported by Punchbowl News.

The break would also be retroactive to this year.

Virginia Democrat Caught Tampering With Campaign Signs by Police Hours Before Election
[SPUTNIKNEWS] Virginia State Delegate Chris Hurst, a Democrat representing the Commonwealth’s 12th district, was pulled over by police less than 24 hours before the state’s Election Day after a deputy witnessed a woman taking campaign signs and getting into a car Hurst was driving.Hurst was reportedly pulled over by police Monday evening in Radford, Virginia, after a deputy from the Radford Sheriff’s Office saw a woman, who has since been identified as Emily Frentewss, take out promotional signs displayed outside the town’s recreation center and then climb into the car that Hurst was driving, according to Radford Sheriff Mark Armentrout.

Police discovered that Hurst was driving the vehicle with a suspended license, and he was subsequently given a "driving while suspended" notification by a deputy, local news station WSLS reported.

Hurst assumed office in 2018 and is running for reelection to the Virginia House of Delegates to once again represent the 12th district.

The state politician’s Republican opponent, Jason Ballard, stated in a Tuesday remark that the Monday night incident is "another excuse why [Hurst] does not deserve one other time period as delegate."

"I’m deeply dissatisfied that Chris Hurst has determined to finish his marketing campaign in such a reckless method," Ballard reportedly said.

This isn’t the first time that Hurst has been in the scope of the law. He was allegedly pulled over in Christiansburg in January 2020 for swerving, and underwent a blood-alcohol test that ended up being above the authorized limit.

The incident unfolded just hours before polls opened ahead of Virginia's Tuesday gubernatorial elections.

Contenders close to ousting several Minneapolis City Council members who backed replacing police
[STARTRIBUNE] Several Minneapolis City Council members who supported the failed policing charter amendment were poised to lose their seats in ranked-choice voting Tuesday.Steve Fletcher of the Third Ward had fallen behind top challenger Michael Rainville. Phillipe Cunningham of the Fourth Ward had about half the votes as opponent LaTrisha Vetaw. Jeremiah Ellison of the Fifth Ward was locked in a tight race with competitive challengers. Jeremy Schroeder of the 11th Ward fell far behind challenger Emily Koski.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Slats grabbed for his rosco...
Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins of the Eighth Ward had an overwhelming lead.

All 13 Minneapolis council members were up for re-election Tuesday, with incumbents facing challengers from across the political spectrum.

Two council candidates who favored the policing overhaul were leading in races for open seats. Jason Chavez scooped 56.9% of first-choice votes in the ward vacated by Alondra Cano, who chose not to run again. Aisha Chughtai was leading in the Tenth Ward, where Council President Lisa Bender decided not to run again, with 35.8% of first-choice votes.

New candidates fought uphill battles against City Hall veterans with many years to build name recognition: Kevin Reich of the First Ward, Cam Gordon of the Second Ward, Lisa Goodman of the Seventh Ward, Andrew Johnson of the 12th Ward and Linea Palmisano of the 13th Ward.

Jamal Osman of the Sixth Ward asked voters for another term after winning his seat last summer in a crowded special election when his predecessor Abdi Warsame left the council to head the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority. While he faced 10 competitors last year, Osman went head to head with just one repeat opponent — Abdirizak Bihi.

A Star Tribune, KARE, MPR and FRONTLINE poll showed 44% of registered voters had an unfavorable view of the City Council, while 28% were favorable and 28% had no opinion.

Council members elected this year will serve a two-year term. In 2023 another election will be held for four-year terms.

Taliban bans use of foreign currency amid economic woes in Afghanistan

The use of foreign currencies in Afghanistan will be banned as a response to the country's current economic troubles, a Taliban
...Arabic for students...
* front man has announced.

"The economic situation and national interests in the country require that all Afghans use Afghan currency in their every trade", the Taliban announced.

As the country faces economic crisis and the Taliban-controlled central bank struggles to change the situation, the population has widely resorted to the use of US dollars as a means of trade and payment, as well as the currencies of neighbouring countries, such as the Pak rupee.

Economic woes struck the country soon after the Taliban seized the capital and the rest of the nation in the middle of August 2021. People had trouble getting their hands on cash or withdrawing it from bank accounts as the central bank had imposed restrictions, while companies often could not receive wires from abroad and fulfil their international obligations.

March 8 Forces Want 'Price' for Kordahi Resignation
[An Nahar] The Hizbullah

have not completely closed the door in the face of the possibility of the resignation of Information Minister George Kordahi, highly informed sources said.

March 8 would accept such a move "for the sake of keeping the government, after they sensed seriousness in its premier’s intention to resign should intransigence continue," the sources added, in remarks to the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper.

"The political sides concerned with negotiating over ’Kordahi’s head’ seemed over the past hours open to the choice of his resignation, but they are still refraining from offering this card without something in return," the sources went on to say.

The sources added that the discussions are currently focused on "the price that can be obtained on the dialogue table with Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
in return for moving forward with this choice."

Iraq
Al-Kadhimi: we will pursue the killers
[SHAFAQ] The Iraqi caretaker Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, commended the stance of the Supreme Judicial Council on the case of the manslaughter of Journalist Ahmed Abdul-Samad and the photographer Safaa Ghali.

In a speech he delivered during the cabinet meeting earlier today, Tuesday, "since the establishment of our government, we were frank to our people; the killers of the activists, media professionals, and innocent people will not escape punishment and the fist of law."

Al-Kadhimi said that his government has fulfilled the promises it made to the people, "particularly the election, Justice, and economic reforms."

"We pursued the groups that were involved in the Murders. We successfully apprehended the killers of Hisham al-Hashemi and Ahmed Abdul-Samad, and we will continue to pursue whoever is involved in the Iraqi bloodshed."

"We endorse the Judiciary's independence. We do not seek vengeance, we only want justice," he concluded.

Iraq's supreme court has sentenced a man to death by hanging for the killing of two prominent Iraqi journalists last year, known for their coverage of anti-government protests in the southern city of Basra.

Ahmed Abdul Samad, a Dijlah TV news hound, and Safaa Ghali, his cameraman, were found shot and killed in a car parked near a cop shoppe on January 10, 2020. Their deaths were part of a wave of assassinations against activists and journalists covering the protest movement that erupted in late October 2019.

For months, tens of thousands of protesters in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and the predominantly Shiite southern provinces had taken to the streets to rally against endemic corruption and call for reforms. Over 600 people died as security forces used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse crowds.

The movement eventually petered out, in part because of the government’s heavy-handed response and the worsening coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic.

Protesters have largely blamed Iran-backed militia groups for carrying out killings that specifically targeted activists and journalists.

The court in Basra said the man convicted in the killing of the two journalists confessed to his crimes. It said he killed them with the aim of "destabilizing security and stability to achieve terrorist goals."

The court provided no details about the man’s identity or affiliation with any Death Eater or other groups. The case is now with a higher court, which can either confirm the death penalty
, hand down a lesser sentence or call for a retrial.

Mohammed Samad, the brother of the slain news hound, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named over the phone that he blames four people for the killing "but only one was brought to court."

He identified the convicted killer as Hamza Kadhim al-Aidani, "a police officer who had worked at the same court that sentenced him today."

"Our happiness will be complete when their leader is brought to trial as he is currently on the run," he added.

Hyten blasts ‘unbelievably’ slow DoD bureaucracy as China advances space weapons
[SpaceNews] Just weeks before retiring from military service, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. John Hyten warned that bureaucratic inertia and fear of failing are thwarting innovation in the U.S. Department of Defense while China continues to roll out new military and space technologies.

“Although we’re making marginal progress, the DoD is still unbelievably bureaucratic and slow,” Hyten said Oct. 28 at a Defense Writers Group event.

If he had to offer any advice to his successor it would be to “reinsert speed into the process,” Hyten said.

A former commander of the Air Force Space Command and of U.S. Strategic Command, Hyten has been a long-time critic of the plodding ways of the Pentagon, particularly in the development of next-generation weapon systems.

DoD takes decades to develop and field new systems, he said. “The answer to every question on how long it’s going to take to get a follow on capability is 10 years or 15 years,” he said. A case in point is a new intercontinental ballistic missile that DoD is developing to replace the Cold War-era Minuteman 3.

That program, called the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, started around 2015. “If everything goes right, it will reach initial operational capability in 2030 and full operational capability in 2035,” Hyten said.

Hyten said he could not discuss specifics of China’s recently reported test of a hypersonic guide vehicle that orbited the Earth and reentered the atmosphere.

“All the facts I know about the test are classified,” he said. “A test did occur, it is very concerning.” Hyten also declined to comment on whether the Chinese tested a new capability the United States didn’t know about.

Without explaining what exactly was concerning about the test, Hyten called it another sign that China is executing its game plan to become a global superpower.

“What you need to be worried about is that in the last five years, or maybe longer, the United States has done nine hypersonic missile tests, and in the same time the Chinese have done hundreds,” said Hyten. “Single digits vs hundreds is not a good place.”

DoD is developing hypersonic missiles, he said, but is not moving as fast as China due to a risk-averse culture that fears negative media coverage and scrutiny.

Well, the one and only place the Bolsheviks know where to cuts expenses is DoD. Try not to give them excuses seems a bit prudent. Particularly when you have Boomers out there to make it an overall no win situation.

Government Corruption
Illegal alien and anti-ICE activist who was bailed out of jail by celebrities and supported pro-bono by the @ACLU, now wanted over the murder of a man in California
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Tulare County sheriff's detectives have named 24-year-old Jose Omar Bello Reyes as the third man involved in the fatal shooting of a 58-year-old man. His body was found at a Terra Bella orchard.

KGET has obtained documents that reveal a man with the same name and date of birth was arrested by ICE in 2019, 36 hours after he read a poem criticizing ICE before the Kern County Board of Supervisors.

Bello, a Bakersfield College student, was held at the Mesa Verde ICE Processing Center in Bakersfield for around three months.

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman and New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis helped post Bello's $50,000 bail through the NFL Players Coalition, which according to Bakersfield.com is a social justice program comprised of professional football players.

Also contributing to Bello's bail was the New York Immigration Freedom Fund and National Bail Fund Network.

"Jose Bello was exercising a fundamental right that we pride ourselves on as Americans," said Norman at the time. "If he was detained for reciting a peaceful poem then we should really ask ourselves, are our words truly free? This is America right? Where the First Amendment is freedom of speech, unless I missed the memo somewhere. He was exercising that right."

The American Civil Liberties Union also filed a lawsuit on behalf of Bello, stating prior to his August 2019 release on bail that Bello's arrest violated his First Amendment rights.

"Bello also faces multiple felony drug and gun charges stemming from an arrest in September in Kern County, according to court records. He was released on bail Sept. 3," according to KGET.

Jesus Manjarrez, 23, and Dan Eli Perez, 38, have been arrested in connection to the Tulare case, with both men being held without without bail on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Sounds like a green on green situation.
"Deputies said they found a dozen weapons and illegal drugs after serving search warrants at multiple locations," according to KGET.

6 people abducted from university in Nigeria's capital
[AlAhram] Gunmen in Nigeria's capital kidnapped six people from the staff quarters of a university, officials said Tuesday. It was the first attack of its kind in Abuja since a wave of school kidnappings began in the country more than a year ago.

The University of Abuja said in a statement on its Facebook page that four staff members and their children were taken by unknown assailants. University employee Murtala Muhammed, who was on campus premises when the abductions happened, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the button men launched their attack around midnight.

``They arrived at the quarters and started shooting and shooting,'' he said.

Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said security forces have launched a rescue operation.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the kidnappings, but suspicion immediately fell on a suspects who have been blamed for scores of similar abductions for ransom.

Some 1,400 students have been kidnapped during attacks on schools in Nigeria over the past year. Many were later released after reports of large ransoms paid. Until Tuesday, however, all of the attacks took place in more remote locations.

Security experts have told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that most of the kidnappers are former Fulani

920 kilos of cocaine headed for NYC found in lawn equipment
[NYPOST] More than a ton of cocaine headed for the Big Apple was found stashed in metal lawn rollers when authorities recently busted a trio of narcos, officials said Tuesday.Authorities said the 920 kilograms of coke represents the biggest seizure of cocaine destined for New York City in more than a decade.

"A multimillion-dollar storm of cocaine was seized before it could wreak havoc in the Northeast," DEA Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan said in a statement.

"This seizure signifies a shift in the illegal drug landscape in New York with cocaine seizures rising more than 150% in the last year."

Suspected drug pushers Jorge Aponte-Guzman, Nelson Agramonte-Minaya and Carlos Maisonet-Lopez were busted in September after Aponte-Guzman drove a rental van to a New Jersey loading dock and picked up 460 kilos of blow, prosecutors said.

Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, Artists, Intellectuals Defend Musicians Accused of Insulting Islam
[BenarNews] A well-known secular activist on Tuesday called on the Bangladesh Bar Council to pull the membership of a lawyer who has been filing police complaints against musicians alleging that their performances insult Islam.

The latest case filed by lawyer Imrul Hasan is against members of the rock band Meghdol, claiming that a song they performed at a recent concert distorted a Moslem prayer.

Robin Ahsan, an activist and book publisher, said Imrul was inciting religious conflict.

"Cancellation of the enrollment of lawyer Imrul Hasan is a must to save our country’s songs, Baul songs and our culture," he wrote in a Facebook post.

"The manner [in which] he is filing cases one after the other is not a healthy practice at all. Through such activities, the lawyer is inciting religious intolerance," he said.

An organizer of a progressive citizens’ group, "Shahbagh against Oppression," Robin said he and others would take to the streets if their demand was not met.

"If any member of Meghdol becomes the subject of harassment, we will hold demonstrations demanding the arrest of the lawyer," he said.

Imrul’s earlier police reports against Rita Dewan — a performer of traditional Bengali folk songs — led her to go into hiding after receiving death threats.

"As a lawyer, he [Imrul] has the right to sue on any issue, but such cases violate the spirit of Bangladesh's constitution, as every artist has the freedom to have his or her views," Golam Quddus, the head of an umbrella group of cultural organizations, told BenarNews.

Other cultural activists supported the band members by creating a hashtag, #standwithmeghdol, for social media platforms.

But Imrul said he stood by his case against Meghdol.

"I feel no pressure from such a protest or social media campaign," he told BenarNews.

"Why would I feel pressure when I filed cases to do with defamation of Islam in a Moslem-majority country?"

In his police complaint, Imrul said his "religious sentiment" was hurt after listening to a Meghdol song, and that he had tried but failed to communicate his concern to the band. "Om," the song he referred to, mixes a Hindu hymn with a Moslem one.

In response to the complaint, a Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate instructed the Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate and submit a report by Dec. 1.

Based on Imrul’s earlier police report, a Dhaka tribunal filed charges against Baul singer Dewan and two others on Oct. 25 for allegedly making "derogatory comments" about religion.

In January, Dewan told BenarNews she had been forced into hiding for more than a year after religious zealots threatened to kill her.

"I am in trouble and facing death threats," she told BenarNews at the time.

"But I will continue to sing because this is not only the source of my income, but also a part of my prayers. I feel the blessings and touch of Allah through my songs, which also teach me to hate no one."

Imrul said back then that he planned to continue his legal barrage.

"The Bauls make audacious remarks about Allah," he said.

"Such practices need to be stopped once and for all. I will file more cases to stop this."

Afghanistan
19 25 dead and dozens wounded in ISIS-K attack on Afghanistan's biggest military hospital: Militants 'go room-to-room' and clash with Taliban after setting off explosives as pictures show blood-spattered children's ward
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] At least 19 25 people have been killed with dozens more maimed after explosions and gunfire rocked Afghanistan's biggest military hospital in an apparent ISIS-K suicide kaboom.

Militants entered the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital where they went room to room opening fire and clashed with Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
security forces, witnesses said.

Photos from inside the hospital showed the blood-spattered floor of the children's ward after the attack which has left at least 50 people maimed.

A Taliban official said all assailants had now been killed.

They added: 'The attack was initiated by a jacket wallah on a cycle of violence who went kaboom! at the entrance of the hospital.'

The Taliban's rivals, the Islamic State group, claimed responsibility for the gun and bomb assault in the centre of the capital.

Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIS-K) said in a statement on its Telegram channels that 'five Islamic State group fighters carried out simultaneous coordinated attacks' on the sprawling site.

The previous death toll was set at nineteen, but the latest reports suggest at least 25 people have been killed.

'Nineteen dead bodies and about 50 maimed people have been taken to hospitals in Kabul,' a health ministry official who asked not to be named told AFP earlier today.

Italian aid group Emergency, which runs a trauma hospital said nine maimed had been brought in so far.

Photographs shared by residents showed a plume of smoke over the area of the blasts near the former diplomatic zone in the Wazir Akbar Khan area in central Kabul.

But the official Bakhtar news agency quoted witnesses saying a number of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
fighters entered the hospital.

'I am inside the hospital. I heard a big explosion coming from the first checkpoint. We were told to go to safe rooms. I also hear guns firing,' a doctor at the Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital in Kabul told AFP.

'I can still hear gun firing inside the hospital building. I think the attackers are going from room to room... like the first time it was attacked,' the doctor added.

A Taliban media spokesman confirmed two explosions hit the hospital area on Tuesday.

'One explosion has happened at the gate of the military hospital and a second somewhere near the hospital, this is our initial information, we will provide more details later,' he told AFP.

Qari Saeed Khosty, a spokesman for the interior ministry, said Taliban special forces had rushed to the scene to secure the area after 'a bomb' exploded.

AFP journalists heard a second blast followed by gunfire.

ISIS have claimed four mass casualty attacks since the Taliban takeover on August 15, including suicide kabooms targeting Shiite Moslem mosques. It regards Shiite Moslems as heretics.

In the 2017 attack on the military hospital, holy warriors went room to room killing people, switching to knives when they ran out of ammunition.

That attack was claimed by the Islamic State group, and the Taliban denied responsibility.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
survivors told AFP that the attackers chanted 'Long live Taliban' in Pashto and attacked all but two wards on the hospital's first floor where Taliban patients were admitted.
Khaama Press reports:
The attack was carried out by three attackers on Sardar Muhammad Daud Khan hospital which is a military hospital and is run by the ministry of defense.

First, an explosion carried out by a suicide attacker happened at the gate of the hospital and then two gunmen entered the hospital.

A few minutes later, a second explosion was heard which was by another suicide bomber inside the hospital.

Eyewitnesses say that the gunman and the Taliban fighter were involved in gunfire inside the hospital took three hours.

Survey: Elite-Imposed Migration Is Transforming National Politics
[Breitbart] Many Democrats want to see American society transformed by migration and diversity, according to a survey by the left-leaning Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI).

"More than six in ten Democrats (64%), mostly agree that they prefer the U.S. to be made up of people from all over the world" — instead of from American families and communities, said the survey, titled "Competing Visions of America: An Evolving Identity or a Culture Under Attack? Findings from the 2021 American Values Survey."

The late-September survey asked 2,508 Americans about various aspects of immigration and diversity. The results showed that Democrats are becoming increasingly radical but also that more Republicans are openly opposing their planned demographic replacement — and that Latinos increasingly dislike imposed diversity.

For example, more Republicans are resisting the nation’s open-door policy, according to the poll:

Republicans (28%) are less likely to have positive views of immigrants today than they were in 2018 (34%) and in 2011 (39%), and have grown more likely to believe that immigrants threaten American values (71% today, 65% in 2018, and 55% in 2011).

’Two-thirds of Republicans (65%) say instead that immigrants are a burden because they take jobs, housing, and health care," the report said.

But the survey also reported that "more than eight in ten Democrats (82%) say that immigrants strengthen the country because of their hard work and talents."

PRRI president Robert Jones spotlighted the huge shift in American politics since the 1950s-era.

Back then, domestic politics were dominated by left vs. rights arguments over how to distribute the huge profits generated by the nation’s huge manufacturing economy.

Those class-and-wages politics continue, but they get little attention from the establishment media since the bipartisan establishment doubled immigration in 1990. That doubling helped to stagnate wages, supercharge the stock market, and also shifted media coverage onto the "diversity" disputes that are used to break up the social norms developed by Americans to help share civic and economic wealth.

"Increasingly, this what American elections have been about — less about particular policies and more about who we are ..., [and] ’Are we kind of an evolving identity or are we a culture that’s been under attack?'" Jones said in a press briefing on November 1:
