We used to nail those things to a two by four, the skates, not Betty's legs, and then we'd have a skateboard, which was good for developing the balance that we would need later on surfboards.

With polyurethane wheels, skateboarding became a legitimate sport and people can do some very impressive maneuvers on them.

But those ladies in Skidmark's video are putting the boys on skateboards to shame. Quite impressive, both Betty and the ladies in Skidmark's video.

BTW, whatever happened to Roller Derby?

Gotham Roller Derby in NYC is still going strong, we caught a couple of games, good fun but some of the extraneous stuff was a deal breaker. US to push Israel on viable plan for post-war management of Gaza – State Department
[IsraelTimes] During a meeting at the State Department with Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer later today, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will raise efforts to secure a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza in addition to pressing Israel to advance a viable plan for the post-war management of Gaza, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller says during a press briefing.

The US has long expressed frustration with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the latter issue, as for months, the premier refused to discuss the matter at all.

Last month, he said he directed the IDF to come up with a plan for boxing out Hamas from the distribution of humanitarian aid, but Washington and Israel’s Arab allies have warned that this goal is impossible so long as Israel continues to refuse the involvement of a reformed Palestinian Authority, given that they do not see any other viable option in Gaza capable of filling any vacuum left by Hamas.

IDF issues evacuation orders for southern Gaza after rocket fire on southern Israel
[IsraelTimes] Following this evening’s rocket fire from the Khan Younis area in the Gaza Strip at southern Israel, the IDF is calling on Palestinian civilians in the area to evacuate to the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone.

“Terror organizations are once again firing rockets at the State of Israel from your area. The specified area has been warned several times in the past,” Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman says, publishing a map of the zones that are to be evacuated.

“For your own safety, you must evacuate the area immediately and move to the humanitarian zone,” he adds.

The IDF in recent months has repeatedly issued evacuation orders for areas from which terrorists launched rockets at Israel.

Hamas took responsibility for the rocket fire. One rocket was launched in the attack, which was intercepted by air defenses according to the IDF.

IDF: Navy missile boat shot down drone over Red Sea
[IsraelTimes] An Israeli Navy missile boat shot down a drone over the Red Sea a short while ago, the military says.

According to the IDF, the drone was launched at Israel “from the east,” a term used to describe attacks from Iraq.

The drone was shot down before entering Israeli airspace, the military says, and therefore sirens did not sound.

ICC top judge pans ‘appalling’ US threat to penalize court over Israel arrest warrants
[IsraelTimes] Tomoko Akane references threat by US Senator Graham, who said Washington would sanction allies who cooperate over warrants targeting Netanyahu and Gallant

The president of the International Criminal Court lashed out at the United States and Russia for interfering with its investigations, calling attacks on the court "appalling."

"The court is being threatened with draconian economic sanctions by another permanent member of the Security Council as if it was a terrorist organization," Judge Tomoko Akane said in her address to the institution’s annual meeting, which opened on Monday.

Akane was referring to remarks made by US Sen. Lindsey Graham
...soft-spoken senator from South Carolina, former best buddy of John Maverick McCain. Since McCain's demise, Graham has become more outspoken, more Republican and more of a supporter of President Trump. The speech he gave in support of Brett Kavanaugh was downright manly and really cheesed off the Dems...
, whose Republican party will control both branches of Congress in January, and who called the court a "dangerous joke" and urged Congress to sanction its prosecutor. "To any ally, Canada, Britannia, Germany, La Belle France, if you try to help the ICC, we’re going to sanction you," Graham said on Fox News.

Graham was angered by an announcement last month that judges had granted a request from the court’s chief prosecutor Karim Khan to issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister along with Hamas

ICC FACES CHALLENGES IN IMPLEMENTING ARREST WARRANTS
Graham’s threat isn’t seen as just empty words. US President-elect Trump'>Donald Trump
...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down...
sanctioned the court’s previous prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, with a travel ban and asset freeze for investigating American troops and intelligence officials in Afghanistan.

Akane on Monday also had harsh words for Russia. "Several elected officials are being subjected to arrest warrants from a permanent member of the Security Council," she said. Moscow issued warrants for Khan and others in response to an investigation into President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
The Assembly of States Parties, which represents the ICC’s 124 member countries, will convene its 23rd conference to elect committee members and approve the court’s budget against a backdrop of unfavorable headlines.

The ICC was established in 2002 as the world’s permanent court of last resort to prosecute individuals responsible for the most heinous atrocities — war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and the crime of aggression. The court only becomes involved when "nations are unable or unwilling to prosecute those crimes on their territory. To date, 124 countries have signed on to the Rome Statute, which created the institution. Those who have not include Israel, Russia, China and the US.

The ICC has no police force and relies on member states to execute arrest warrants.

The decision to warrant issues for Netanyahu and ex-defense minister Yoav Gallant has been denounced by critics of the court and given only milquetoast approval by many of its supporters, a stark contrast to the robust backing of an arrest warrant for Putin last year over war crimes in Ukraine.

The two wars also have starkly different backgrounds. Leading up to its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Putin expressed increasingly belligerent views toward its smaller neighbor, challenging Ukraine’s legitimacy as a state, and arguing that it was a historic part of Russia. Moscow then annexed parts of the country under its occupation in September 2022.

Global security expert Janina Dill worried that such responses could undermine global justice efforts. "It really has the potential to damage not just the court, but international law," she told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Milena Sterio, an expert in international law at Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,

lawyer Amal Clooney. Clooney advised the current prosecutor on his request for the warrants for Netanyahu and others.

"Sanctions are a huge burden," Sterio said.

ACCUSATIONS AGAINST KHAN
Also hanging heavy over the meeting in The Hague are the internal pressures that Khan faces. In October, the AP reported the 54-year-old British lawyer is facing allegations he tried to coerce a female aide into a sexual relationship and groped her.

Two co-workers in whom the woman confided reported the alleged misconduct in May to the court’s independent watchdog, which says it interviewed the woman and ended its inquiry after five days when she opted against filing a formal complaint. Khan was never questioned. He has denied the claims.

The Assembly of States Parties has announced it will launch an external probe into the allegations. It’s not clear if the investigation will be addressed during the meeting.

Khan took the floor after Akane. He didn’t address the accusations against him or the threats against the court directly, other than to say the institution was facing "unprecedented challenges."

Instead, he highlighted his office’s recent request for an arrest warrant against the head of Myanmar’s military government and said he planned to request warrants related to Afghanistan and Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
in the coming months.

Late last week, six countries including La Belle France, Luxembourg, and Mexico asked Khan’s office to look into possible crimes in Afghanistan since the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
took control in 2021. While Khan isn’t obligated to open an investigation in response to such a request, historically court prosecutors have done so.

The court, which has long faced accusations of ineffectiveness, will have no trials pending after two conclude in December. While it has issued a number of arrest warrants in recent months, many high-profile suspects remain on the lam.

Member states don’t always act. Mongolia refused to arrest Putin when he visited in September. Sudan’s former president Omar al-Bashir
...Former President-for-Life of Sudan. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. He was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it...
is wanted by the ICC over accusations related to the conflict in Darfur, but his country has refused to hand him over. Last week, Khan requested a warrant for the head of Myanmar’s military regime, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, for attacks against the country’s Rohingya Moslem minority. Judges have yet to decide on that request.

"It becomes very difficult to justify the court’s existence," Sterio said.
One imagines so.

#4  Courts don't derive legitimacy from fancy costumes or titles.

They can only be legitimate within the framework of a free and open Western style democracy that is committed to safeguarding the rights of the people whose existence is a self-evident truth.

International law, in letter, spirit and practice is necessarily ultimately the will of the majority of third world sh**hole governments that dominate the UN.

Realpolitically the West has to deal with these entities, but there's no obligation to submit or recognize any moral or legal authority that compromises Western freedoms.

The ICC is a cargo cult court, a brainf*rt from the holiday from history.

Digging in, IDF builds dozens of bases in and around expanded Netzarim Corridor – NYT
[IsraelTimes] Report says satellite images and video footage indicate the military has demolished around 600 buildings in last 3 months to create a buffer zone around the central Gaza corridor

The IDF has significantly bolstered its presence in the central Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip in recent months, and the territory controlled by Israel in and around the so-called Netzarim corridor has rapidly expanded, according to a report Monday, in an apparent indication the IDF is preparing to remain inside the Paleostinian enclave for at least the foreseeable future.

By analyzing satellite images and video footage, the New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported that Israeli forces have also constructed several dozen new bases in and around the corridor over the last three months.

The Netzarim Corridor, which started as a four-mile strip of land, is built around a road south of Gaza City, enabling the IDF to carry out raids in northern and central Gaza while controlling access to the north for Paleostinians seeking to return after fleeing south. It also enables Israel to coordinate deliveries of humanitarian aid directly to northern Gaza.

In recent months, however, the corridor has significantly expanded, reaching as far as the outskirts of Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood to the north, and the Wadi Gaza stream to the south, encompassing around 47 square kilometers (18 square miles) of land.

The IDF has attempted to create what appears to be a buffer zone around the outskirts of the military-controlled block of land, the report said, and in doing so, has demolished around 600 buildings, residential and otherwise, over the last three months.

The Times said that the estimation was reached by analyzing satellite images and video footage taken by the IDF’s Combat Engineering Battalion between September 3 and November 21.

Troops have also "rapidly expanded a network of outposts equipped with communications towers and defensive fortifications," the report said.

The IDF’s expansion work "suggests that it may be preparing to exert long-term control over the area," The Times said.

An IDF front man told the newspaper that the buildings were demolished in order to prevent Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
operatives from using them as lookout points, or as a place to hide ahead of launching attacks on Israeli forces.

Inside the expanded Netzarim Corridor area, additional satellite images analyzed by the Times found that the IDF has been building at a rapid pace, having either constructed or expanded the existing infrastructure of 12 military bases since early September.

In total, the report said, the IDF has constructed at least 19 large military bases and dozens of smaller ones in the area surrounding the Netzarim Corridor since the start of the war against Hamas last October.

The satellite images revealed extensive fortifications surrounding the bases, many of which the news outlet said were walled off, with access roads and parking spaces for armored vehicles.

Some also have communications towers, it added, and the largest of the bases is attached to a checkpoint.

Despite the rapid expansion of Israeli infrastructure, an IDF front man seemed to reject the notion that the military was preparing for a permanent presence in the enclave, telling the Times that "anything that has been built [in the Netzarim Corridor] can be taken down within a day."

IDF launches wave of strikes in Lebanon after Hezbollah mortar attack
[IsraelTimes] Terror group says first fire since truce is an ‘initial warning’ against Israel over ‘continued violation of Lebanese airspace’; US says ceasefire holding despite incidents

The Israeli military launched a wave of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
on Monday evening after Hezbollah launched two mortars at the Mount Dov area for the first time since the ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group took effect last week.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said fighter jets struck Hezbollah operatives and dozens of rocket launchers and facilities belonging to the terror group across Lebanon.

Hezbollah claimed earlier on Monday that it launched the mortars in response to Israel’s "repeated violations" of the ceasefire deal that took effect last week, and said that it should serve as an "initial warning" over IDF strikes on Lebanon during the truce and the "continued violation of Lebanese airspace by hostile Israeli aircraft."

The incident — the first fire from Lebanon since the start of the truce — came after the US and La Belle France both reportedly warned that Israel was violating parts of the deal, a charge Israel has denied.

The IDF said that the projectiles landed in open areas and did not cause any injuries.

Senior Israeli officials were quick to condemn the Hezbollah attack, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing a firm response.

"Hezbollah’s firing at Mount Dov constitutes a serious violation of the ceasefire, and Israel will respond forcefully," he said in a statement. "We are determined to continue to enforce the ceasefire, and to respond to any violation by Hezbollah — a minor one will be treated like a major one."

Defense Minister Israel Katz also warned of a "harsh response," writing on X that Israel "promised to act against any violation of the ceasefire by Hezbollah, and that is exactly what we will do."

In addition to the Hezbollah operatives, rocket launchers, and facilities targeted by fighter jets, the IDF said it struck the launcher used to fire the two mortars at Mount Dov. The site was hit a short while after the attack, according to the army.

"Hezbollah’s launches tonight constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon," the IDF said in a statement.

"The State of Israel demands that the relevant parties in Lebanon fulfill their responsibilities and prevent Hezbollah’s hostile activity from within Lebanese territory. The State of Israel remains obligated to the fulfillment of the conditions of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon," the army added.

Lebanon’s health ministry later said at least nine people were killed in Israeli strikes on two southern villages.

"The Israeli enemy strike on the village of Haris killed five people and injured two, in an initial toll," the ministry said in a statement, adding that another such attack on Tallousa "killed four people and injured one person."

Syria’s Sham FM radio, meanwhile, reported that a series of Israeli airstrikes on Monday night targeted border crossings between Lebanon and Syria in the al-Qusayr area. The IDF had bombed the crossings before, saying that they were being used by Hezbollah to smuggle Iranian weapons into Lebanon.

Despite the incidents on Monday, US officials said that the ceasefire was still holding. Speaking to news hounds aboard Air Force One, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby acknowledged that there have been "some sporadic strikes" over the last several days, but claims "this was expected" and is still a major decrease from the hundreds of Hezbollah rocket attacks and Israeli counter-strikes that were taking place before the ceasefire came into place.

Kirby noted that the ceasefire included the beefing up of an enforcement mechanism that has already begun responding to events on the ground. The mechanism now includes a US Army general who has been dispatched to the US embassy in Beirut and will work with US civilian representative Amos Hochstein to respond to reported violations in real-time, Kirby said.

The White House spokesperson said Israel and Lebanon remain committed to the ceasefire, but he conceded that it is only one week old, and there is more work to do to ensure that the enforcement mechanism is bolstered.

Pressed on the subject during a subsequent briefing, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller responded similarly, insisting that the ceasefire has not broken down.

He said the US-led enforcement mechanism is still adjudicating claims by both sides of ceasefire violations. "That’s what we’ll do over the coming days and coming months."

"If we do see violations of the ceasefire, we’ll go to the parties and tell them to knock it off," Miller said.

The State Department spokesperson declined to comment on reports that Hochstein has reached out to Israel to express concern that Israel is enforcing the ceasefire "too aggressively."

"Broadly speaking, it is our assessment that despite some of these incidents that we are seeing, the ceasefire is holding," Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon front man, also told news hounds.

Israel rejected accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement and said that its strikes in recent days have targeted Hezbollah infractions.

The IDF said on Monday that it had carried out several strikes in Lebanon in the past day, following Hezbollah actions "that posed a threat to the State of Israel and violated the understandings between Israel and Lebanon."

It said that it had struck several military vehicles operating at a Hezbollah missile manufacturing facility in the Beqaa Valley, and additional vehicles at several sites on the Lebanon-Syria border in the Hermel District, which were used by Hezbollah to transport weapons.

"The IDF is deployed in southern Lebanon and acts against any threat that endangers the State of Israel" the military said.

In one incident, the Lebanese army said that an Israeli strike targeted a military bulldozer while it was carrying out fortification work inside the al-Abbara military base near the border with Syria, wounding one soldier.

The IDF said that it was investigating the incident.

While Israel has insisted that its strikes are legitimate, as they are targeting Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure, the US reportedly warned on Monday that its actions violate the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

House Dem aide out of job after Capitol arrest
[Axios] A staffer for House Administration Committee ranking member Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) is no longer employed after he was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of bringing ammunition into a U.S. House office building.

Why it matters: It's the second time in three years that a congressional staffer has been arrested and charged with possessing ammunition at the Capitol.

  • The last incident, in December 2023, prompted a serious reckoning over Capitol security procedures after Capitol Police took 12 minutes to track down the staffer, who also had a handgun.

Driving the news: A Capitol Police spokesperson identified the staffer as 38-year-old Michael Hopkins, Morelle's communications director.

  • Capitol Police searched Hopkins' bag after it went through an X-ray machine and found 11 rounds of ammunition and four magazines, the spokesperson said.

  • Hopkins "told the officers that he forgot the ammunition was in the bag," the spokesperson said.

  • He faces charges of unlawful possession of ammunition, including one charge of possession of a high-capacity magazine.

  • The latest: "In response to this morning's incident, Mr. Hopkins is no longer employed by Representative Morelle's office effective immediately," Morelle's chief of staff Jo Stiles said in a statement Monday afternoon.

Meghan Markle appoints herself CEO of American Riviera Orchard after she was unable to find candidate: report
[NY Post] A higher assessment of her abilities, or nobody stoopid enough to take on her bullshit?
After an arduous search for the CEO of American Riviera Orchard, Meghan Markle has landed on the perfect candidate: herself.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has appointed herself as the CEO of her lifestyle brand, which has yet to be released, after struggling to find a suitable candidate for the role, the Daily Mail reports.

Markle had been interviewing prospective employees for months, the outlet adds, after announcing the brand’s impending launch earlier this year.

But in August, it emerged that the "Suits" alum was "struggling" to find a suitable candidate for the position.

"She is the CEO of American Riviera Orchard," a source told the outlet’s columnist, Richard Eden. In April, a source told the outlet, "The initial CEO search has not panned out so far."

The former actress unveiled her new business venture in March. But nine months later, there’s still no release date or information about the products that customers can expect to be up for sale.

According to the outlet, the struggle in appointing a CEO has been largely due to ongoing negotiations with Netflix about a partnership with American Riviera Orchard.

"This is something new for Netflix," an insider told the outlet. "It would run the lifestyle business with Meghan, developing products as spinoffs from her show. If a partnership is agreed, it’s likely that Netflix would install its own CEO to run operations."

The Post has reached out to Markle’s reps for comment.

Markle has faced a slew of ongoing trademark troubles while trying to get her company off the ground, prompting her to last week request a three-month extension from the US Patent and Trademark Office to secure a trademark for the brand.

#3  As I understand it, she wanted to call it American Riviera but didn't do her research. Surprising, no?
    NY Post:
The former actress’ extension request comes just one month after American Riviera Orchard was slapped with yet another trademark snafu.

Rival lifestyle brand Harry & David filed a protest against Markle’s lifestyle brand, claiming the name is far too similar to its “Royal Riviera” product line.

The US Patent and Trademark Office received a protest filing on Oct. 31 from US-based premium food and gift retailer Harry & David, documents obtained by The Post show.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, has faced a slew of ongoing trademark troubles since announcing the brand’s impending launch in March. American Riviera Orchard

The company’s “Royal Riviera” trademark is currently registered to the brand’s pear gift baskets, which are grown in Oregon. Markle’s team declined to comment at the time.

And in September, the mom of two’s trademark application was refused by the USPTO, who warned that businesses cannot trademark geographical locations.

The brand’s name is a sweet nod to Santa Barbara, Calif., where Markle resides with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children.

Secret Service agents fire on carjackers outside Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's home in DC
[NY Post] Secret Service agents fired off a round of shots at carjackers trying to break into vehicles near Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s home in the early hours of Tuesday, The Post has learned.

No one was hit — but the suspects drove off in their car from the cabinet official’s neighborhood in Northwest Washington shortly after 1:30 a.m. and have not yet been apprehended.

The DC Metro Police Department is investigating the incident, which will be overseen by US Attorney Matthew Graves’ office.

Reps for the Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

    China-Japan-Koreas
BREAKING: South Korean President Imposes Martial Law.
[Nat'l Pulse] On Tuesday, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the emergency implementation of martial law. "I declare martial law in order to eradicate the shameless pro-North Korea anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people and to protect the free constitutional order," Yoon said of the decision.

The opposition Democratic Party (DPK), in coalition with several smaller parties, controls 192 of 300 seats in the South Korean legislature following elections in April, which has hindered President Yoon’s program. The DPK is led by Lee Jae-myung, who survived being stabbed in the neck during a press scrum in an apparent assassination attempt in January.

Yoon’s move to declare martial law could have significant implications for the U.S., as South Korea is a key regional ally that hosts multiple U.S. bases. This includes Camp Humphreys, the U.S.’s largest overseas base, with a population of over 40,000.

Lee, who was in the midst of launching impeachment proceedings against members of Yoon’s government prior to the declaration of martial law, has denounced the move as unconstitutional. Yoon’s People Power Party is also said to be opposed to the declaration, setting the stage for a major clash between the executive and legislative branches in the East Asian nation.

Currently, it is unclear where the South Korean military stands on the matter, though their support for either Yoon or Lee will likely be decisive in settling the crisis. Former South Korean President, Park Chung-hee, ruled as essentially a dictator from 1962 until his assassination 1979.

    This story is developing...

New York Democrats Draft Plan to Protect Criminal Migrants
Staying true to the Democratic Party brand.
[Breitbart] New York Democrats are sponsoring a bill that would strengthen protections for illegal aliens accused of crimes even as Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) is suddenly claiming she supports deporting criminal illegal immigrants.

As the country turned to favor President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to deport illegal aliens, Hochul performed her about-face last month when she claimed during a press conference that she favors getting illegals accused or convicted of crimes deported.

“If someone breaks the law, I’ll be the first one to call up ICE and say, ‘Get them out of here,’” the sanctuary state governor exclaimed.

This head-turning and sudden proclamation aside, Hochul’s state party does not seem to be following her lead as 31 Democrats have now co-sponsored a bill in the state senate that would throw up even more protections for illegal aliens in the state’s criminal justice system in order to keep them away from ICE officers looking to deport them.

Despite her sudden claim that she supports deporting “criminals,” Hochul has not objected to this bill at all.

The bill (State Senate Bill S987) aims to prohibit the discovery and disclosure of immigration status, according to the one-line summary.

It states that “no police officer, peace officer, or school resource officer” will be allowed to communicate with ICE about any individual with whom they are dealing in the justice system. Further, they will not be allowed to facilitate the transfer of any individual from their custody to the custody or any immigration official.

New York Councilwoman Vickie Paladino is infuriated by the bill and notes that it not only bars local law enforcement from working with ICE at all, it also requires city authorities to act as immigration advocates on behalf of the criminal.

“This is not about ‘family separation’ or ‘helping our new neighbors’ as progressives like to disingenuously euphemism,” she said in her message on X, “this bill is STRICTLY about PROTECTING DANGEROUS CRIMINALS and ensuring they get to stay in our city and enjoy the comforts of our lax justice system. It’s an absolute outrage.”

Paladino is also shocked that state senators from two parts of New York City that saw a huge upswing for Donald Trump in the 2024 election are also supporting this travesty.

“Even worse, two local State Senators who represent my area of Northeast Queens are co-sponsors — John Liu and Toby Stavisky,” she wrote, adding, “Why would individuals who represent the most conservative part of the city — an area which moved dramatically to Trump in this election — sponsoring legislation with the furthest-left members of the Democrat party? Why are they doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what their constituents voted for?”

“The fact of the matter is that deporting criminals — especially gang members — is highly popular across the political spectrum, yet our Democrat monopoly simply does not care. There is seemingly nothing which will stop them from putting criminals first,” Paladino concluded.

Support dwindles for cracking down on nonprofit terror financing
[JustTheNews] Concerns have surfaced about the constitutionality of the effort.
First discover. Then decide. Hoover’s FBI got whathisname on tax evasion, after all.
A plan moving through Congress may soon revoke tax exemptions for nonprofits deemed supportive of terrorist organizations.

The overwhelming bipartisan support it once enjoyed, however, has dwindled as critics worry about constitutional overreach.

Supporters blame the sudden reversal on something more immediate: distrust of the incoming presidential administration.

In April, the House passed H.R. 6408 in a vote 382-11. It is a bill extending power to the Secretary of the Treasury to revoke tax-exempt status from any organization that supports terrorist organizations.

Though the bill did not gain traction after the initial vote, lawmakers again voted on the exact same language added into H.R. 9495, a proposal that would also alleviate fines and penalties from missed tax deadlines for Americans held hostage abroad.

This time, however, it made a public splash as members of Congress received pushback from constituents and non-profit organizations alike. Joining activists long concerned for the future of Palestinian aid, domestic organizations were moved to speak out against the bill out of concern for their own survival.

The first attempt to pass the proposal with a supermajority failed mid-month, and it returned to the House floor last Thursday for debate. The margin of support this time was much narrower at 219-184.

The only difference, Republicans say, is the incoming president.

Sponsor Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., said that since the election, the bill had become the subject of “mass political hysteria.”

“I urge my colleagues to grab some common sense,” she said, noting that they were suffering from “Trump derangement syndrome.”

Rep Lloyd Smucker, R-Penn., called the reversal "the most bizarre argument I've heard since I've been in Congress."

Opponents across the aisle worried that the bill could sanction Trump’s retaliation against non-profit organizations he deems to be hostile toward him, including major bodies like the American Civil Liberties Union.

“This is the death penalty bill that we’re considering today, the bill that empowers Donald Trump to extinguish the life of any non-profit, of any civic society group which happens to be on his enemies list,” said Rep. Lloyd Dogget, D-Texas.

He and others argued that the House could easily find unanimous consent for the first half of the bill granting tax relief to hostages, but the addition of the tax status portion goes too far.

The first time the language was floated with near-unanimous consent, it was presented within the context of the Israel-Hamas War. In the days prior, Iran had launched a direct missile attack on Israel, and the appetite to reign in potential terrorist threats was high.

In defending the bill, Rep. Jason Smith, R-Mo., chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, evoked another era in which similar sentiment was at a public high: in 2001, when the Holy Land Foundation, a tax-exempt organization run by Palestinian-Americans, was designated a terrorist organization by then-President George W. Bush.

The prosecution of “The Holy Land 5” has continued to loom large as a major civil rights controversy.

The bill's language gives the Secretary of Treasury unilateral authority to determine if an organization has supported a terrorist organization and revoke its 501c3 status. It does provide the opportunity for any such organization to argue this determination after the fact, but the secretary makes the final decision.

Opponents say this reverses the burden of proof and eliminates due process, pointing to laws already on the books criminalizing support of a terrorist organization with far more serious implications than tax status.

“A sixth grader would know this is unconstitutional,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., who voted for H.R. 6408 in April.

“The potential for abuse under H.R. 6408 is immense as the executive branch would be handed a tool it could use to curb free speech, censor nonprofit media outlets, target political opponents, and punish disfavored groups across the political spectrum,” wrote a coalition of over 300 non-profits headed up by the ACLU.

“The lack of guardrails creates the potential for future administrations to weaponize these powers against groups on both ends of the ideological spectrum,” the letter continued. “Even if they may never be designated as ‘terrorist-supporting,’ let alone charged with a crime, nonprofits will curtail their activities as a precaution in order to avoid stigmatizing and financially devastating punishments.”

The American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, celebrated the passage in a post on X, saying it "provides important tools to combat terrorism." AIPAC is the largest pro-israel lobby in the US, funding politicians on both sides of the aisle. It spent over $42 million in campaign contributions in 2024.

In the end, it was a small minority within the House who applied concern for this principle in a non-partisan fashion – just 10 Democrats and one Republican voted against both H.R. 6408 and H.R. 9495.

Rashida Tlaib, D-MI, was one such naysayer.

“I don’t care who the President of the United States is,” she said. “This is a dangerous and unconstitutional bill.”

Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., called the bill "an affront to democracy." Smith praised her consistency despite their disagreement.

[PJM] To no one's surprise—go stand in a corner if you were—Joe Biden went back on his "word as a Biden" and pardoned the family bagman, his 54-year-old son Hunter, for crimes he committed from 2014-2024. That ten-year retrospective pardon covers a lot of crimes, many of which we'll go through below. The pardon is breathtaking in its scope. Usually, someone serves some time for a crime, and then a president commutes a sentence and pardons the person for the reasons they're in the slammer. Not so here. Far from it. Hunter hasn't been sentenced yet. He likely wouldn't have done prison time. But there's an entire universe of crimes on Hunter Biden's laptop that he committed for the family business, the product of which was access to and favors from Joe Biden. As former federal prosecutor and former congressman Trey Gowdy asked Sunday night: Who's the pardon for, Hunter or Joe? The answer is both.

In 2023, remember, Hunter's attorneys on his tax evasion and gun crime cases were negotiating a plea deal and presented a Delaware judge a deal that included immunity for any future crime he may commit. Had she granted that motion, we might be looking at a man who could have committed murder in the middle of 5th Avenue next year and never suffered the consequences.

The Report on the Hunter Biden Laptop, from which I've been culling information for stories for our VIP readers, used cyber experts and law enforcement to verify it was his and used the 200 gigabytes of information to recreate Hunter's legal and illegal business arrangements, tax crimes, and his drug and hooker-filled sessions. If you have a problem with the latter kind of activity, do yourself a favor and please don't look at the laptop. It's X-rated.

Salacious stuff aside, entries from Hunter's forgotten laptop—he'd lost three in 2019 and lost his phone 57 times, according to the Report—showed that the Biden family bagman had entries, mostly emails, that went back to 2009.

It's important to mention here that the FBI sat on the existence of Hunter's laptop for one year and silently watched 51 intelligence community people claim that whatever the New York Post was reporting looked like Russian disinformation before the 2020 election. The FBI information operation included leaking stories claiming that Rudy Giuliani, a former Southern District of New York federal prosecutor and mayor of New York, was a Russian stooge because he talked about information on the laptop. For the record, Giuliani, ever the law-and-order guy, was instrumental in getting the laptop into the FBI's hands. Unfortunately for Giuliani, he was a Trump supporter and therefore needed to be squashed...

    As was said yesterday.
Hunter, having been given immunity, now has no legal excuse / coverage to avoid testifying at any trial.

Once subpoenaed as a witness against for those indicted, he must tell the truth or face contempt and or perjury chargers.

This includes his own family members crimes. Like rumors, that Dr. Jill was playing president. Having brain numb JB to sign Executive Orders, or donate $$$$$ in certain directions/pockets.

Refusing to provide info or testify, will have him charged for crimes he was not pardoned for by daddy.

#6  Joe's justification for pardoning Hunter was actually pretty reasonable --- if he had only pardoned him for the gun paperwork and tax delinquency. But of course, the real reason for the pardon was to keep Hunter from making deals that would implicate Pop (and himself) on many other, more serious crimes.

    Government Corruption
Ramaswamy shreds NYC $220M migrant hotel deal paying Pakistan 'to house illegals in our own country'
[FoxBusinessNews] DOGE leader Vivek Ramaswamy torches NYC over Roosevelt Hotel migrant deal

Vivek Ramaswamy eviscerated a reported agreement that New York City would pay up to $220 million to a Pakistani-owned hotel in Manhattan to house illegal migrants.
Goodness knows, they need the money.
"A taxpayer-funded hotel for illegal migrants is owned by the Pakistani government, which means NYC taxpayers are effectively paying a foreign government to house illegals in our own country. This is nuts," Ramaswamy wrote on X.

Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, was tapped by President-elect Trump to co-lead the newly-established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Elon Musk. He responded to a post by former investment banker and author John LeFevre decrying the deal regarding the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan.

LeFevre shared a screenshot from a June 2023 article in the Indian Times that quotes then-Pakistani Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique as announcing that the agreement was expected to generate revenues of up to $220 million USD "for the Pakistani government."

Fox News Digital reached out to the New York City Mayor's Office for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

The Roosevelt Hotel, a prominent New York City landmark since 1924, named after former President Theodore Roosevelt, is owned by the state-run Pakistan International Airlines.

Pakistan International Airlines leased the hotel in 1979 and purchased it two decades later, according to the Times.

"The city of New York pays $220 million to rent the entire Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan to house illegal migrants. The hotel is owned by the government of Pakistan, and the deal was part of a $1.1 billion IMF [International Monetary Fund] bailout package to help Pakistan avoid defaulting on their international debt," LeFevre wrote on X, reacting to the article. "Prior to this sweetheart deal, the hotel had been closed since 2020, having long-struggled with occupancy and in dire need of renovation."
That’s ok, then. They aren’t shutting out actual customers, and the illegal residents won’t know to complain about the substandard accommodations.

4 anti-government protesters charged with terror for firing flares at Netanyahu home
[IsraelTimes] Prosecution alleges suspects had been warned by Shin Bet against using pyrotechnics, accuses group of acting out of ideological motivation to pressure PM
I vote for charging them with treason. As members of the active military reserve in a time of war, they intended to harm or kill their commander in chief… or at least the executive head of government in order to bring down the government. Arguably they did this in coordination with covert enemies of that government: the [Harris-]Biden government state department, and a variety of Progressive donors to an anti-government protest movement whose goal for over two decades has been the overthrow of the duly elected government of Israel and its replacement with something that would reorient Israeli society to their preferences.
A senior officer in the military reserves and three others were hit with terror charges Monday stemming from allegations that they launched lit flares at the Caesarea home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last month to place political pressure on him.

Rear Adm. (res.) Ofer Doron, 63, his son Gal Doron, 27, and two other longtime anti-government activists, Itay Yaffe, 62, and Amir Sadeh, 62, were indicted in Haifa District Court on charges of carrying out an act of terror through the reckless and negligent use of fire, and attempted arson. The two Dorons were also charged with obstruction of justice for initially lying to investigators about who fired one of the flares.

According to prosecutors, the four were involved in firing two flares at Netanyahu’s house on the night of November 16 during weekly protest activities against Netanyahu and the government.

Nobody was harmed in the incident and no damage was caused, and the Netanyahus were not home at the time.

The charge sheet alleges that some two months before the incident, Ofer Doron and Amir Sadeh attended a meeting with agents from the Shin Bet security service in which they were briefed on the acceptable limits of the protests, and specifically warned against using pyrotechnics, which have become a regular features at weekly protests in Tel Aviv.

The indictment states that the four showed up earlier in the day of the incident to scope out the area, including security arrangements. They then snuck out of the area by avoiding roads to keep from being detected by police. Some turned their phones to airplane mode.

The elder Doron is thought to have acquired the naval flares, which were expired, from fellow anti-government activists, a senior official in the police’s Lahav 433 major crimes unit told Channel 12 news last month.

He was suspended from the Israel Defense Forces in August 2023 in response to his decision to stop performing volunteer reserve duty over the government’s contentious judicial overhaul plan. Sadeh and Yafeh are also well-known figures in the anti-government protest movement, which has held regular protests outside Netanyahu’s home, alongside larger rallies in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The indictment alleges that after arriving back in the area in separate vehicles later, the four surreptitiously made their way to a spot some 270 meters (885 feet) away from Netanyahu’s residence. Under the direction of Ofer Doron, Sadeh and Guy Doron fired the flares.

One flare initially hit vegetation outside Netanyahu’s home, causing fire and smoke that alerted a guard in the compound. Minutes later, the second flare landed near the entrance to the home, some two meters away from another guard who had run over to put out the fires.

According to the indictment, the flares were designed to burn at 30,000 candlepower for 40 seconds, enough to cause a serious injury.

“The accused did this as one team, in a hasty manner that could have endangered people’s lives or caused injury, out of ideological-political motivations, which according to them was aimed at sending a message to the prime minister and public as a whole that the protests activities in Caesarea were not ending, and to create an effect of greatly building pressure, which would lead, in their view, to advancing the protest’s goals,” the indictment read.

The defendants have claimed in the past that they were not aiming for Netanyahu’s house. According to Ynet, prosecutors may be challenged to disprove the claim given the difficulty in precisely aiming that type of naval flare.

The indictment also accused the elder Doron of covering up for his son by initially telling investigators he fired one of the flares.

Prosecutors requested that the four be held in custody until the end of proceedings against them; the court decided it would keep them behind bars for now, but hold another hearing on their possible release later this week, Hebrew media reported.

On Sunday, Gonen Ben Yitzhak, a protest leader acting as attorney for some of the defendants, decried the inclusion of terror charges on the rap sheets, the Ynet news site reported.

“This decision is sullied with politics, a warning to all protesters that any use of pyrotechnics could turn into a terror incident,” he said.
And so it should — this is looooong overdue.
Prosecutor Shelley Zeevi Barzilai told the court that the flare-firing should not be viewed as part of the larger protest movement, which took shape to oppose Netanyahu’s plans to overhaul the judiciary and has become a leading voice pushing the government to reach a deal releasing hostages held in Gaza.
Utter nonsense. The protest movement goes back to the beginning of the millennium — they’ve been trying to drive Bibi and the conservatives out of Israeli politics altogether for that long, to fulfill their vision of restoring Labour Socialism to the center of Israeli life. Unfortunately, the general population has moved on, and left them behind.
“We’ve seen that good people can do bad things,” she said.
No doubt. But this case is about bad, selfish people trying to do evil, anti-democratic things.
“What happened here was violent activity, with the use of maps and avoiding detection by cameras.”

Last week, Netanyahu’s wife Sara requested she be recognized as the victim of an attempted terror attack, though she was not in the home at the time. Victims of a crime are entitled by law to be asked by prosecutors for their position on any plea bargain that might be proposed to those indicted over the incident, and on the punishment that might be meted out by the court.

The Netanyahus’ home in Caesarea was lightly damaged in a Hezbollah drone attack in October. Following that attack, the government reportedly demanded a NIS 2 million (just over half a million dollars) security upgrade at the estate.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syria rebels appear to credit Israeli strikes on Hezbollah with aiding shock advance
[IsraelTimes] Opposition figures speaking to Israeli TV say they love Jewish state and want to forge friendship; report indicates Hezbollah may be sending forces to Syria as Assad looks for help
We can see who Al Qaeda thinks is the regional strong horse… Note that neither they nor ISIS seriously went after Israel, even though they are that desirable target, the Saturday people.
A Syrian rebel involved in a re-energized insurgency challenging regime forces reportedly told an Israeli network that the IDF’s campaign against Iran-backed forces had likely aided opposition fighters who managed to capture Aleppo and other areas in a lightning offensive last week.

Insurgents led by jihadi group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham launched a two-pronged attack on Aleppo and the countryside around Idlib on Wednesday, notching major gains and dealing a huge embarrassment to Syrian leader Bashar Assad, while increasing pressure on his allies Iran and Russia — which are preoccupied with their own conflicts.

The rebel offensive was launched just as a ceasefire went into effect between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, which had suffered serious setbacks to its manpower and arsenal in recent weeks after Jerusalem launched an intensified campaign aimed at neutralizing the threat posed by the terror group to northern Israel.

“Nobody knows if Iran and the regime would have been weakened without the recent Israeli attacks in Syria, which have allowed us to return and free the lands and the country,” a man described as an opposition activist from the Aleppo area told Israel’s Kan public broadcaster in comments aired Sunday. Israel has for a long time carried out periodic strikes against Iranian targets and weapons transfers in Syria.

Another rebel figure from the Idlib area who spoke to the network thanked Jerusalem and said the opposition was “very satisfied” with Israel’s actions against Hezbollah and other Iran-backed players. Hezbollah is avowedly committed to destroying Israel.

“They accuse us of cooperating with you because we were quite happy when you attacked Hezbollah, really happy, and we’re glad that you won,” the source said.
Odd how so many others proclaim that really Hezbollah won, not Israel.
Both said the rebels had no issue with Israel. “We love Israel and we were never its enemies,” the man from the Idlib area said. “[Israel] isn’t hostile to those who are not hostile toward it. We don’t hate you, we love you very much.”
”…Because you kill Shiites for us. Later, after we defeat them, we will happily hate you again and try to conquer you. ALLAHU AKHBAR! ULULULULULULULU!!!”
Kan did not provide other information on the identity of the rebels or what groups they hailed from. The new insurgency has been led by jihadist fighters from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
, an offshoot of the al-Qaeda terror organization previously known as Jabhat al-Nusra, or the Nusra Front.

But the comments appeared to jibe with those of a man identified as a rebel commander who told Israel’s Channel 12 news in remarks also aired Sunday that the timing of the offensive in Syria had not been coincidental.

“We looked at the [ceasefire] agreement with Hezbollah and understood that this is the time to liberate our lands,” said the source. “This operation was critical. We will not let Hezbollah fight in our areas and we will not let the Iranians take root there.”

The rebel commander added that the goal was to topple the Assad regime and set up a government that has good relations with all its neighbors, including Israel.
Hudna! Hudnah! Hudnah! (They plan to go after the country of the Jooooos after they’ve absorbed Syria, just like Mohammed. Inshallah, of course.
“It will be a country based on equality and justice for all Syrian citizens without exception, where there will be peace and security with the entire region, including with Israel,” he tells Channel 12.
”Very peaceful, after everyone who is not us submits, as Allah intended.”
Also speaking to the channel, exiled Syrian opposition leader Fahad Al Masri egged on Israel’s military to back the opposition offensive.

“We call on the Israeli leadership to launch intensive attacks against the positions and troops of the Iran-backed militias in Syrian territory,” he said. “It will be necessary to strike sites in Homs, Damascus and on the Lebanon border. This will help rid Syria’s territory of the Lebanese presence and Hezbollah’s weapons and the octopus tentacles of Iran.”

A LITTLE HELP FROM ASSAD’S FRIENDS
Both Tehran and Moscow have pledged to continue supporting Assad, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterating that support Monday morning.

On Sunday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Damascus to meet the Syrian leader, saying the Islamic Republic would “firmly support the Syrian government and army,” Iranian state media reported.

After the talks, Assad emphasized “the importance of the support of allies and friends in confronting foreign-backed terrorist attacks.”

Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy, was another key element in helping Assad quash rebel advances during Syria’s long civil war, but it is unclear to what extent the organization would be able to aid the regime now as it attempts to regroup following Israel’s punishing offensive.

According to a separate Kan report Sunday, Western intelligence officials have seen evidence that Hezbollah had sent forces from Lebanon to Syria to defend the terror group’s infrastructure in northern Syria, fearing that Iranian or Hezbollah holdings could fall into rebel hands.

Despite halting most fire in Lebanon, Israel has vowed to continue striking Hezbollah if it spots attempts to resupply the group with arms, which have generally run through Syria. On Saturday, Israeli Air Force fighter jets struck infrastructure in Syria near the country’s border crossings with Lebanon which the Israel Defense Forces said were being “actively” used by Hezbollah to transfer weapons.

The Lebanese army said Monday morning that an Israeli drone struck a Lebanese military bulldozer while it was carrying out fortification work inside the Al-Abbara military base near Lebanon’s border with Syria, injuring one soldier.

In Syria, Assad was attempting to rush reinforcements northward, prompting battles on Sunday and Monday as government troops attempted to halt the rebels’ advance to Hama.

Syrian state media said government resupply included heavy equipment and rocket launchers while Syrian and Russian airstrikes targeted weapon depots and insurgent strongholds. Sham FM, which is closely linked to the regime, said the Syrian army shot down drones belonging to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in northern Hama.

Speaking to The Times of Israel over the weekend, an Israel official wouldn’t say whether Israel saw the rebel success as a positive development, noting only that Israel was “paying close attention all the time to what is happening in Syria, and is ready for any scenario.”

US national security adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN’s “State of the Union” that the US was also watching the situation carefully, noting that Washington had “real concerns about the designs and objectives of” Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
The profundity of that profound statement is irrefutable.
“At the same time, of course, we don’t cry over the fact that the Assad government, backed by Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, are facing certain kinds of pressure,” he added.

Rebel commander Col. Hassan Abdulghani said the insurgents’ advance in the countryside around Idlib put all of the province of the same name under their control.

In Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province, military vehicles abandoned by Syrian troops dotted the roads. People posed and took pictures of themselves atop one abandoned tank on a highway, while the insurgents grabbed munitions and shells from them before continuing their push deeper into Syria.

The insurgents vowed to push all the way into Damascus, but life in the Syrian capital remained normal with no signs of panic. In southeastern Aleppo, however, the main road out of the city was gridlocked as people fled the fighting, and gas stations in the area were short on fuel.

Syrian state television claimed government forces had killed nearly 1,000 insurgents over the past three days, without providing evidence or details.

Government airstrikes in Idlib and Aleppo killed at least 25 people, of whom 14 were women and children, according to the Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, which operates in opposition-held areas.
More from the Times of Israel:
The head of Syria’s main opposition group abroad, Hadi al-Bahra, told Reuters that the rebels were able to seize the city so quickly because Hezbollah and other Iran-backed groups were distracted by their conflict with Israel.

Preparations were made since last year for an assault on Aleppo, but it was held up by the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, he said.
    Since last year? How interesting.

There is a strong muslim brotherhood faction and Turkish paid mercenaries and former (and disenchanted) ISIS folk and defectors from Assad's military as well as a few more groups. On the other side: US gov’t envoy said to warn Israel it is violating ceasefire in Lebanon, singling out drone flights over Beirut, French FM ditto
[IsraelTimes] The US has warned Israel that it is violating parts of the ceasefire deal with Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
    , Hebrew media reports.

US special envoy Amos Hochstein reportedly sent a message urging Israel to uphold the agreement. In particular, he cited Israeli drone flights over Beirut, Hebrew media cited Israeli sources as saying.

The Prime Minister’s office declined to comment.

It comes a day after Hebrew media outlets reported that, according to French diplomatic sources, La Belle France has accused Israel of 52 ceasefire violations.

The sources claimed that although Israel was acting against Hezbollah’s own violations, the IDF did not go through the proper channels to report the Lebanese terror group’s transgressions to the US-led international oversight body, of which La Belle France is a member, as required by the terms of the agreement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement yesterday that Israel was "very resolutely enforcing the ceasefire agreement, and every violation is immediately being met with an intense reaction by the IDF." He vowed that this would continue.

Does All Parties include Hezbollah, or can they just do as they please?
France reportedly accused Israel this week of dozens of violations of the ceasefire.

According to the French readout of the call, Barrot also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, and a massive flow of humanitarian aid.
The aid is already happening. So where are the hostages, monsieur?
The diplomats also discuss the renewed fighting in Syria and the Iranian nuclear program, the French Foreign Ministry says.

At least 56 crushed to death in stampede at football stadium in Guinea
[GEO.TV] A controversial refereeing decision sparked violence and a crush at a football match in southeast Guinea, killing 56 people according to a provisional toll, according to the government on Monday.
    Soccer: Metric Football
The fatalities occurred during the final of a tournament in honour of Guinea's military leader Mamady Doumbouya at a stadium in Nzerekore, one of the nation's largest cities.

Some fans threw stones, triggering panic and a crush, the government statement said, promising an investigation.

A video authenticated by Rooters showed dozens of people scrambling over high walls to escape.

"The government deplores the incidents that marred the football match between the Labe and Nzerekore teams this afternoon in Nzerekore. During the stampede, victims were recorded," said Prime Minister Mamadou Oury Bah, in a statement.

He said local authorities were working to restore order.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an official from the city's administration said many victims were minors caught in the turmoil after police started firing tear gas.

The official described scenes of confusion and chaos with some parents retrieving bodies before they were officially counted.

Videos and pictures shared online showed victims lined up on the ground. In one video, over a dozen inert bodies could be seen, several of them children.

-backed snuffies ramp up their attacks in a bid to take the area from Kurdish forces, a local source told Rudaw on Monday.

One of the individuals told Rudaw that they have been stuck on the way near a cement factory and near Ahdas area since late Sunday

Exclusive footage obtained by Rudaw shows a large number of cars and numerous people stuck on a road without heating despite freezing weather.

The local source called on relevant authorities to open the way for them.

Hundreds of thousands of people, mostly Kurds, fled their hometown of Afrin in 2018 in the face of a military operation by Turkey and its Syrian proxies, residing in Shahba and other Kurdish-held areas.

Syrian troops, who controlled bordering areas of Shahba, withdrew from the area earlier this week as the regime forces were being defeated in western Aleppo by a coalition of Death Eater groups spearheaded by the Jihadist Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

Jubaland Soldiers Reportedly Defect to Somali National Army Amid Tensions
[ShabelleMedia] A significant shift in the political and military landscape of southern Somalia has unfolded as reports confirm that several soldiers from the Jubaland state have defected, arriving in Raskamboni town aboard four boats to join the ranks of the Somali National Army (SNA).

This defection comes on the heels of escalating tensions between the semi-autonomous Jubaland region and Somalia’s central government. Just a day prior, Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe issued a stern 15-day ultimatum for federal troops to vacate the strategic border town of Raskamboni, highlighting ongoing disputes over control and governance in the region.

The soldiers’ move to join the SNA could be seen as a strategic blow to Madobe’s administration, as it not only weakens his military capabilities but also signals potential dissent within his ranks. Sources on the ground indicate that these defectors will undergo registration and integration into the national army, with promises of payroll and possible promotions for their allegiance shift.

The situation in Raskamboni has been volatile, with the town serving as a focal point for military maneuvers due to its proximity to the Kenyan border and its strategic importance. The defection is viewed by some as an attempt by the federal government to assert dominance in a region where Jubaland has been seeking greater autonomy or even independence.

President Madobe has long accused the federal government of undermining his state’s stability through military incursions and political interference. This latest move by soldiers from his own forces could intensify the rift, potentially leading to further confrontations or negotiations to resolve the underlying issues of illusory sovereignty and control.

The defectors’ arrival in Raskamboni also raises questions about the stability of Jubaland’s internal politics and its relations with Mogadishu. Analysts suggest that this could be part of a broader strategy by the central government to consolidate power or might reflect internal dissatisfaction with Madobe’s leadership.

As the deadline set by Madobe approaches, all eyes are on how both sides will react. There’s a palpable fear of escalation into open conflict, which would further destabilize an area already grappling with the presence of al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
    Death Eaters.

The international community, particularly neighboring Kenya which has interests in Jubaland due to security and economic reasons, watches closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution to preserve regional stability.

Gujarat ATS Arrests Man For Leaking Coast Guard Intel To Pakistani Agent For Rs 200/Day
    November 30, 2024
[OneIndia] A contractual worker has been apprehended by the Gujarat
...where rioting seems to be a traditional passtime...
unit of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) for allegedly leaking sensitive information about the movements of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships. Dipesh Gohil, employed at the Okha port, reportedly received Rs 200 per day in exchange for relaying details about Coast Guard vessels and had amassed Rs 42,000 from a Pak agent, reported India Today.

Dipesh, who came into contact with the agent through Facebook, maintained communication via WhatsApp.

The Pak spy, using the alias "Sahima," befriended Dipesh online and later requested information about the names and numbers of Coast Guard boats stationed at Okha port. The identity of the agent remains undisclosed.

Gujarat ATS officer K Siddharth stated, "We received information that a man from Okha was sharing details about the Coast Guard boat with an agent of Pakistain's Navy or the ISI through WhatsApp. Following an investigation, we arrested Dipesh Gohil, a resident of Okha. The number Dipesh was in contact with was traced to Pakistain."

Dipesh, who had direct access to vessels at the port, allegedly had the money sent to a friend's account as he lacked one of his own.

He then withdrew the cash from his friend, claiming it was payment for welding work.

K Siddharth further explained, "Pakistain's Navy or ISI agents are seeking people who can provide information about Indian Coast Guard boats for a small sum. For a long time, Gujarat's Anti-Terrorism Squad, working with the Coast Guard, has been intercepting drugs along India's maritime borders. In such cases, details about Coast Guard boats could be valuable to Pakistain's military and agents. During a conflict, sharing this information could be especially dangerous for us."

This arrest follows the apprehension of another individual, Pankaj Kotia, in Porbandar last month for passing information about a Coast Guard vessel to a Pak operative.

Jubaland Cuts Ties with Somalia Government Over Election Standoff
[Garowe] The relationship between Jubaland and federal government officials nose-dived further, just after the two sides issued replica arrest warrants following an electoral laws dispute, which has degenerated into political battles in Somalia.

A statement issued by Jubaland accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of 'violating' the federal constitution, adding that he had undermined the unity of Somalia and the spirit of federalism.

Under Ahmed Islam Mohammed Madobe, Jubaland held indirect polls where the veteran leader secured his third consecutive term, against the wish of Mogadishu. Hassan Sheikh and his team are pushing for unified direct polls for both the state and federal leaders.

The statement emphasized Jubaland’s stand on the stalemate, arguing that it "does not recognize recent legal amendments to the Constitution and Electoral Codes enacted by the Federal Government’s Councils."

    Kismayo
...a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, at the extreme southern end of the country (always assuming Somalia can be called a country). It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region....
further said the constitutional principles are "untouchable and non-negotiable." It announced plans to establish a consultation platform involving all political stakeholders "to discuss the future of governance, national unity, and the solidarity of the Somali people."

Jubaland’s statement also accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of "trampling on the constitution, abusing power, and fostering division and corruption."

It alleged that the president has actively worked to "ignite civil wars and tribal conflicts," including introducing insecurity into previously stable regions of Jubaland, and decried Jubaland troops had secured these areas after decades of conflict, only to see the gains undermined by Federal Government actions.

    Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
had also severed ties with Cairo, citing frustrations from brass hats, negatively impacting federalism. On Thursday, Puntland Minister of Interior Abdi Farah Said alias Juha blamed President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for the current standoff.

"President Hassan Sheikh has dismissed the constitution, launched a war on federalism, and is dismantling the nation-building process, echoing the oppressive laws of the infamous National Security Courts. Question: Does he have the teeth of the Supreme Revolutionary Council, or is it just angry gums?"

Somalia: Al-Shabaab Attacks Surge in Mogadishu Over CCTV Installation Mandate
[Garowe] While CCTVs are meant to improve security surveillance by tracking criminal activities, the al-Shabaab
... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
turbans are increasingly targeting those using them, leading to several unnecessary deaths within Somalia over the last few months.

Somalia's government had instructed business owners to install CCTVs as a measure to combat crime, but the al-Shabaab is against the implementation of this idea, causing a massive crackdown against innocent civilians who have complied with the directive.

For almost two months, ACLED, an organization that has been tracking the crimes, says of the 37 fatalities recorded within Mogadishu, almost 40% were linked to retaliation from al-Shabaab on people who had installed CCTVs, especially within Yaqshid and Heliwa districts.

"Al-Shabaab is sending a brutal message: cooperate with the authorities, and you become a target," said Hassan Ali, a Mogadishu-based security analyst.

According to police reports, four business owners were bumped off in late October in the Misaanka Dhuhusha areas with two civilians also killed in Sakuus. The business owners are now in limbo — they are lost whether to follow government or al-Shabaab directives.

Launched in 2023, the government's surveillance initiative aims to curb al-Shabaab's influence by exposing its extortion networks and operational movements. The group reportedly collects monthly "taxes" from businesses, funneling funds into their insurgency.

"We're caught between the government's orders and the turbans' threats," said a shop owner who requested anonymity. "Our livelihoods and lives are at stake."

Despite the antagonism by al-Shabaab turbans, the Somali security forces have made significant gains in the fight against al-Shabaab, liberating several strategic towns in the process. Most regions in central and southern Somalia are now under the Somali National Army.

French government faces collapse as left and far-right submit no-confidence motions
[GEO.TV] The French government is all but certain to collapse later this week after far-right and left-wing parties submitted no-confidence motions on Monday against Prime Minister Michel Barnier, Rooters reported.

Investors immediately punished French assets as the latest developments plunged the euro zone's second-biggest economy deeper into political crisis, with serious doubt cast over whether the annual budget will be approved.

"The French have had enough," National Rally (RN) leader Marine Le Pen told news hounds in parliament, saying Barnier, who only became prime minister in early September, had made things worse and needed to be pushed out. "We are proposing a motion of no confidence against the government," she said.

Barring a last-minute surprise, Barnier's fragile coalition will be the first French government to be forced out by a no-confidence vote since 1962.

A government collapse would leave a hole at the heart of Europe, with Germany also in election mode, weeks ahead of US President-elect Donald Trump
    ...Oh, noze! Not him!...
    re-entering the White House.
Perhaps this time the French voters will be permitted to make France great again.

Zakharova called Hunter Biden's pardon a caricature of democracy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The decision to pardon his son, made by outgoing US President Joe Biden , is a caricature of democracy, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told Izvestia.
    Ouch.
"A caricature of democracy," the diplomat said, commenting on Biden's actions.

As reported by the Regnum news agency , on December 1, Joe Biden signed a decree pardoning his son Hunter on two criminal charges and stated that this decision was made due to the unfairness and bias of the prosecution. According to Biden Sr., his step was dictated not only by family motives. He explained that he believes in justice, but politics could have interfered in the process, which led to a miscarriage of justice. Hunter became a target solely due to political pressure, the head of the White House emphasized.

After being pardoned, Hunter Biden announced his decision to dedicate his life to helping people with addictions . According to him, he has been sober for more than five years.

In June, a jury found Hunter Biden guilty in a firearms violation case. He was accused of lying about not using any illegal drugs in the month before he purchased the gun and at the time he owned it. He was allegedly struggling with drug addiction at the time of the purchase.

On all counts of the charges, the US president's son faced up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000. After the court's decision, Joe Biden said he did not intend to prevent his son from being convicted and did not intend to grant him a pardon.

ISIS unit Islamic Bakkiya added to Russian terrorist list
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] Rosfinmonitoring has added the Islamic Bakkiya, which is a combat unit of ISIS (a terrorist organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation), to the list of terrorist organizations. This was reported on the agency’s website.

The separate combat unit of the international terrorist organization Islamic State, the Islamic Bakkiya Jamaat, is number 517 on the list of terrorists and extremists.
They do multiply… and divide, and probably square roots and cubes, too. But it’s good to know, nonetheless.
As previously reported by the Regnum news agency, religious scholar Roman Silantyev stated that in Russian pretrial detention centers and penal colonies, the positions of “prison jamaats” of radical Islamists have sharply strengthened since the start of the special operation in Ukraine. He noted that the share of Islamic radicals in prisons has grown, while the colony leadership has reduced its ability to re-educate them.
Cattle prods don’t do the trick, I suppose.
On the morning of June 16, a hostage-taking by ISIS supporters took place in Pretrial Detention Center No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don. A group of six defendants who were under arrest captured an operative and a supervisory inspector. Special forces stormed the pretrial detention center, and those who resisted were eliminated.

On May 24, the Director of the Russian FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, stated that Islamists coordinated the actions of the terrorists who attacked the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region, on March 22 via the Internet. He noted that members of the ISIS branch, Vilayat Khorasan (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), who were in the Afghan-Pakistani zone, coordinated preparations for the terrorist attack, financing, attack, and escape of the terrorists. This was established during the investigation, including with the assistance of the special services of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

On December 2, nine defendants in the case of the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall were added to the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. They are natives of Tajikistan and Ingushetia.

Five suspects in preparation of series of terrorist attacks arrested in Dagestan

Five people are suspected of preparing a series of terrorist attacks in Dagestan, they have been placed under arrest, RIA Novosti reported on December 2.

According to a source in the security forces, the group was organized in the Kizlyar region. Components for making a bomb were confiscated from the detainees.

“They acquired components for making improvised explosive devices and stored them in a cache,” the source explained.

The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala arrested them for two months, the article says.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, in late November, law enforcement officers detained two residents of Dagestan suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in one of the republic's state institutions. According to the investigation, residents of the village of Kurush in the Khasavyurt district purchased components for making a bomb in June and wanted to detonate it in a state institution to destabilize the situation in the region. They did not have time to assemble the explosive device, as they were detained.
    Efficiently done, O Makhachkala police!

Iran sends aid to Syria, maybe including troops
[IsraelTimes] As Iran sends forces to Syria, IDF warns it not to smuggle arms to Hezbollah

Speaking to Sky News Arabia, Israel Defense Forces spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said the military is closely following the events in Syria and has observed Tehran sending forces to bolster Assad’s regime.

    -------------
article contained image of Bashir Assad in his palace, per the image it was on 1 December 24.
    Good to know.
Hundreds of Iran-backed Iraqi fighters crossed into Syria on Monday to help the government fight rebels who seized Aleppo last week, while Lebanon’s Hezbollah has no plans for now to join them, according to sources.

Iraqi and Syrian sources confirmed the deployment of more Iran-backed Iraqi fighters to Syria. Iran’s foreign minister said Tehran “will provide any support needed” and that “resistance groups” would come to Assad’s aid.

At least 300 fighters, primarily from Iraq’s Badr and Nujabaa groups, crossed late on Sunday using a dirt road to avoid the official border crossing, two Iraqi security sources said, adding that they were there to defend a Shi’ite shrine.

A senior Syrian military source said the fighters had crossed in small groups to avoid airstrikes. “These are fresh reinforcements being sent to aid our comrades on the front lines in the north,” the source said.

The head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, which includes the major Shi’ite militia groups aligned with Iran, said no group under its umbrella had entered Syria, and that it does not operate outside Iraq.

But Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group, which is the most capable Iran-backed force in Assad’s military alliance in Syria, has not yet been asked to intervene and was not ready to send forces after the 14-month-long war it initiated with Israel, said three sources familiar with the group’s thinking.

In recent months, Hezbollah withdrew its operatives from Syria, including the north, to focus on battling Israel in southern Lebanon, after the IDF launched its ground operation in late September after a year of near-daily Hezbollah attacks displaced some 60,000 residents of northern Israel.

The rebels who swept this week into Aleppo pointed to Hezbollah’s withdrawal as one of the reasons they faced little resistance from government forces.

Hezbollah bases and weapons shipments through Syria have been repeatedly hit by Israel, which has sought to weaken Iran across the region.

Arab countries and Washington have seen the weakening of Hezbollah as a potential opportunity to peel Assad away from his alliance with Iran.

Sources have told Reuters that the United Arab Emirates and United States had been discussing the possibility of lifting sanctions against Assad if he reduces his reliance on Tehran. The rebel advance could complicate this if it pushes Assad to depend more on Iranian support.

    Fog of war?
Pro-Iranian militias enter Syria from Iraq to aid beleaguered Syrian army
[IsraelTimes] Iranian-backed militias entered Syria overnight from Iraq and were heading to northern Syria to beef up beleaguered Syrian army forces battling insurgents, according to two Syrian army sources.

Dozens of Iran-aligned Iraqi Hashd al Shaabi fighters from Iraq also crossed into Syria through a military route near Al Bukamal crossing, a senior Syrian army source tells Reuters.

“These are fresh reinforcements being sent to aid our comrades on the front lines in the north,” the officer says, adding that the militias included Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah and Fatemiyoun groups.
“It’s time to earn those paychecks, boys!”
Iran sent thousands of Shiite fighters to Syria during the Syrian war and, alongside Russia with its air power, enabled Syrian President Bashar Assad to crush the insurgency and regain most of his territory.

A lack of that manpower to help thwart the rebel onslaught in recent days contributed to the speedy retreat of Syrian army forces and withdrawal from Aleppo city, according to two other army sources. Militias allied to Iran, led by the Hezbollah terror group, have a strong presence in the Aleppo area.

Hezbollah has been seriously weakened in its war with Israel over the past year.

    Africa Horn
    Colombian ex-soldiers fighting in Sudan?
[Garowe] Reports have emerged of the possible presence of ex-soldiers from Colombia in Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
, which could escalate tensions between the Rapid Support Force (RSF) and the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) who have been at loggerheads for the last two years.

La Silla Vacía, a Colombian newspaper, claims that close to 300 former soldiers from Colombia are actively fighting in Sudan, which could evoke sharp responses from members of the international community.

La Silla Vacía, a Colombian newspaper, claims that close to 300 former soldiers from Colombia are actively fighting in Sudan.
The report alleges that the soldiers were recruited under pretenses by the Colombian company International Services Agency A4SI, with promises of securing oil infrastructure in the UAE. Instead, they were transported to Libya via Dubai or Abu Dhabi, where they were handed over to representatives of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

According to the report, "40 of these soldiers were sent to Sudan under pretenses," and one soldier is quoted in an audio recording saying, "Their contract described a completely different assignment." Families of the dear departed confirmed that three Colombian soldiers were killed during fighting in October, adding that "shelling had caused heavy casualties among their ranks."

The UAE has denied sending arms to the RSF since April 15, 2023, but admits to supplying arms to the group before that date. The Colombian Foreign Ministry has refused to comment on the situation, and no response was obtained from the RSF regarding these claims.

Elsewhere, at least eight people were killed and several injured after the RSF commandos raided 8 villages in the city of Meheiriba in central al-Jazira State, local activists said Thursday.

"Villages in western Meheiriba have been under attack by the RSF since Wednesday, starting with the village of al-Fuwwar, which caused the majority of residents to flee from the village and its surrounding areas," Middle Call, a Sudanese rights group, said in a statement.

"The RSF renewed its attacks on Thursday, targeting the villages of al-Fuwwar, Salim, Abu Karna, Abara, Umm Kurak, Ajjan, Ma’ijna, and Umm Wazain, accompanied by random and intense artillery shelling. This led to the deaths of eight citizens so far and injuries to others," it added.

Since mid-April last year, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF have been engaged in a conflict that has resulted in more than 20,000 deaths and displaced nearly 10 million people, according to the UN, the Addis Standard reports.

    Afghanistan
Over 100 arrested for poppy cultivation in Badakhshan
[KhaamaPress] Local officials in Badakhshan province have announced the arrest of over 100 individuals connected to opium poppy cultivation in several districts of the province.

Shafiqullah Hafizi, the head of the anti-narcotics division reported on Sunday, December 1 that these individuals were arrested during a large-scale anti-narcotics operation in the districts of Argo, Daraym, Yaftal Payan, Jurm, Shuhada, and Baharak in Badakhshan.

During the operation, authorities seized 75 mobile phones from the arrested individuals. The suspects have been referred to the provincial primary court for legal prosecution.

Local authorities in Badakhshan have stated that these individuals will face trial for their involvement in drug-related activities.

    The Taliban
    ...Arabic for students...
regime banned opium cultivation in the spring of 2022, under the directive of the Taliban’s leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada.

Despite the government’s stance, reports from the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) indicated a 30% increase in opium production in Afghanistan in 2024 compared to the previous year.

According to the UNODC, 433 tons of opium have been produced in Afghanistan this year.

While the Taliban has consistently denied these reports of increased drug production, international agencies continue to express concerns about the rise in narcotics production in the country.

The increase in drug cultivation despite official prohibitions and the government’s ongoing crackdown underscores the challenges in combating narcotics trade in Afghanistan.

[ColonelCassad] CIA and MOSSAD pocket terrorists Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) open a new front against Russia

The leader of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist organization, led byAbu Muhammad al-Jawlani,
we had an unconfirmed report here two days ago that the Russians had killed him, so perhaps he is no longer leading the group. And a note from the Times of Israel that the Americans believe his name is Ahmed Hussein al-Shar’a. But given the complexities of Arab tribal names, possibly both this and the al-Wahidi name below are true parts of the whole, like the blind philosophers describing the elephant…
has attracted considerable attention in recent years. Jawlani, who was raised in Camp Bucca during the Iraq War, has featured prominently in American documentaries, including the PBS series Frontline.

HTS leader Jawlani, whose real name is Osama al-Abbasi al-Wahidi, was born in Daraa in northern Syria. His biographies describe him as a CIA recruit. According to open sources, he joined al-Qaeda in Iraq during the invasion of Iraq and quickly rose through the ranks. He was close to Zarqawi, the leader of the organization until his death in 2006 following an airstrike.

Jevlani, who fled Iraq, was captured and spent two years “training” in a camp in Bucca, where the US allegedly created ISIS, before being released without cause. After leaving Bucca, he began working with ISIS leader Baghdadi, who sent Jevlani to Syria in 2011.

After his release, he worked with ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and later received support from Hamza bin Laden in 2015. During this time, he gave frequent speeches as ISIS’s power in Syria began to wane. In his speech, he said that the region to target should be Latakia, where Russia is strong. He also called on Muslims living in Russia to attack civilians in the country.

HTS has recently made attempts to distance itself from its ties to al-Qaeda. Recently, for the first time in more than a decade, a long-closed church in Idlib province was hosted by Jawlani.

James Jeffrey, the former US special representative for Syria, called HTS a “valuable tool” in the US strategy in Idlib. Jeffrey acknowledged that HTS is primarily focused on fighting Assad and does not pose an international threat. While arguing that it was an “unfair and political decision” for the US to designate itself as terrorists, Jawlani himself used the following statements:

“The current Assad regime deserves to be included on the terrorist list. We have not posed a threat to Western society in any way. We call on these countries to reconsider their policies. We criticize Western policies in the AMI region, but we have never talked about starting a war against the US.”

Abu Ahmed Zekkour, known as HTS's financial director, published a letter on December 14, 2023, severing ties with the organization and accusing Jawlani of being a US agent. Zekkour claimed that Jawlani met with US and British intelligence officials at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing.

Tasnim, the Iranian News Agency, reported in a report on September 17, 2024, that HTS has also received support in training and producing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Ukrainian military instructors. A group of 250 Ukrainian instructors are training HTS fighters in Idlib on the operation, production, and upgrading of UAVs. The instructors have been deployed at various production facilities in Idlib city and the Jisir al-Shughur area.

The Syrian government is still struggling to restore sovereignty over the entire territory of the country in the fight against Takfiri groups run by the CIA and Mossad.
Those nefarious Joooooos are everywhere, donchaknow, and have their thumbs in all the interesting pies. Ask Iran, whose IRGC anti-Mossad unit was a special Mossad project for a while. And then there are the spy squirrels and spy herons…
With Russia's advance on the Ukrainian front, it has become known that the United States is heading from Ukraine to Syria in an attempt to distract Russia and open a new front in the region. The Syrian newspaper Al-Watan reported that Kirill Budanov was in regular contact with the leader of the Tahrir al-Sham delegation.

    Meanwhile,
...back at the mall, Clarissa suddenly spied Mr. Bartlett at the checkout counter. He was buying Grecian Formula!...
114 of the total 245 deaths resulted from security forces' actions, which killed 100 snuffies and martyred 14 security personnel. PICSS reported a rise in krazed killer activity, with 71 attacks recorded in November compared to 68 in October.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained the most affected province, experiencing 50 krazed killer attacks that resulted in 71 deaths and 85 injuries. Within KP, the merged districts (erstwhile FATA) accounted for 28 incidents, leading to 36 fatalities, including 19 civilians, nine security personnel, and eight krazed killers.

These attacks left 62 people injured, comprising 33 civilians, 27 security personnel, and two krazed killers. Security forces' actions in these areas resulted in 64 krazed killers' deaths and martyrdom of 12 security personnel, while 23 snuffies and nine security personnel were maimed.

In mainland KP, 22 krazed killer attacks led to 35 deaths, including 19 security forces personnel, 10 krazed killers, and six civilians, while 23 others were maimed. Security operations in mainland KP resulted in 17 snuffies killed and five maimed.

The Kurram tribal district witnessed one of the worst festivities in recent history between opponent tribes, with over 120 lives lost by the end of November.

Khalistani Separatist Pannun Issues Threats Ahead Of Bhubaneswar DGP/IGP Meet, PM Modi’s Visit
    November 28, 2024
[OneIndia] Amid threat from Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun,
…Canadian-American lawyer and frontman for the US-based Sikh independence group Sikhs for Justice, India declared him a terrorist a few years ago and would dearly love if he were to mysteriously turn up dead one day. In the meantime he blusters on about the romantic idea that the Indian Sikhs should have an independent Khalistani homeland in the Indian Punjab — but not the Pakistani one, because that would upset his ISI paymasters dreadfully …
the top brass of India's police force will convene for the annual conference of directors general and inspectors general on Friday.

It's an important occasion where pressing issues such as internal security, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
, and the threat posed by pro-Khalistan elements are on the agenda. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval are among the key figures expected to participate in the discussions, which will also cover the challenges of cybercrime, AI tools, and drone threats.

Ahead of the event, Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has released a video message, issuing a threat to disrupt the event

"DGP terror conference where, under the influence of violent mostly peaceful Hindutva ideology, they plan and orchestrate killings of pro-Khalistan Sikhs, Kashmiri fighters, Naxals, and Maoists. Axis of evil Modi-Shah-Doval are bringing the biggest security threat to Bhubaneswar," The Times of India quoted him as saying in the video.

"Come in disguise and take cover in temples, hotels in Bhubaneswar to disrupt the DGP conference," he added.

Over 450 high-ranking officers will engage in the conference, with 250 attending in person and more than 200 joining virtually. They will delve into a range of critical topics through presentations and discussions. These include counter-terrorism efforts, combating online fraud, tackling narcotics smuggling, addressing cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, neutralizing activities of pro-Khalistani groups, and countering left wing extremism. The aim is to outline strategies to meet the evolving challenges in internal security.

Since 2014, the conference has expanded its scope to not only focus on national security but also improve core policing practices aimed at crime prevention and detection, community policing, law and order, and enhancing the police force's public image. The shift from a Delhi-centric approach has fostered unity among officers and organizations, allowing for a more cohesive strategy in tackling the country’s pressing issues. The gathering in Bhubaneswar continues this tradition, providing a platform for sharing best practices among states and Union territories, fostering a collaborative environment for learning and improvement.

The interactions at the conference, including informal discussions over meals, offer senior police officials a unique opportunity to share their insights and suggestions directly with Prime Minister Modi on pivotal policing and internal security matters. This direct line of communication has been instrumental in aligning the police force's objectives with national priorities, leading to actionable recommendations.

The decision to move the venue outside New Delhi each year has marked a significant shift in the approach to these conferences. Since the Modi government's inception, the location has rotated among various cities across India, including Guwahati, Dhordo in the Rann of Kutch, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, Kevadiya, Pune, Lucknow, and Delhi, with plans for Jaipur in 2024. This move has not only decentralized the conference but also highlighted the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping policing strategies.

The conference has seen an increase in the number of business sessions and topics, reflecting a deeper focus on policing in the service of the people. The engagement doesn't end with the conference; follow-up on the recommendations is rigorous, with a dedicated secretariat tracking progress. This systematic approach has led to significant policy changes and improvements in policing standards, incorporating modern, smart policing methods suitable for both rural and urban settings.

PDP Criticises Jammu and Kashmir LG for Terminating Employees Over Alleged Terror Links
    November 29, 2024
    [OneIndia] Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.
's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently dismissed two babus government employees due to alleged terror connections. This decision has sparked criticism from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The terminated individuals are Abdul Rehman Naika, a pharmacist, and Zahir Abbas, a teacher. Officials stated that Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution was used for their dismissal following investigations by law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

The PDP leaders have expressed strong disapproval of this action. Waheed Para, a PDP MLA from Pulwama, criticised the silence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on these terminations. "It's shocking how the government acts as judge, jury, and executioner, denying the aggrieved even a proper hearing. Such brazen overreach is unacceptable and must stop. @OmarAbdullah Sahab heads the GAD -- silence on these terminations cannot be justified," Para stated on X.

    PDP LEADERS CRITICISE GOVERNMENT ACTIONS
Iltija Mufti, another PDP leader and daughter of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, also voiced her concerns. She highlighted that the current government remains passive while more employees are dismissed based on mere suspicion. "Only in Kashmir are you guilty until proven otherwise. This criminalisation of livelihoods must stop," she remarked in a post on X.

These dismissals were executed by the General Administration Department (GAD) of Jammu and Kashmir's government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Notably, Abdullah is currently on an Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
. The use of Article 311(2)(c) for such terminations has been a recurring practice by the Lieutenant Governor over recent years.

The PDP's objections underline concerns about due process and fairness in these dismissals. They argue that such actions undermine the rights of individuals to a fair hearing before being judged or penalised. The party insists that this approach must be reconsidered to prevent further injustice.

This ongoing issue highlights the tension between maintaining security and ensuring justice for babus government employees in Jammu and Kashmir. The debate continues as stakeholders call for more transparent processes in handling such sensitive matters.

LeT Terrorist Extradited From Rwanda In Bengaluru Prisons Terror Conspiracy Case
    November 28, 2024
[OneIndia] Salman Rehman Khan, a terrorist associated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...>
(LeT), was extradited to India from Rwanda today by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He had been implicated in the Bengaluru Prisons Terror Conspiracy case, where investigations revealed his role in radicalising individuals and supplying explosives to terror operatives.

Khan was arrested in Kigali, Rwanda's capital, yesterday following a coordinated effort between the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Interpol, and the National Central Bureaus (NCBs). He was then transferred to India early on Thursday, where he was formally taken into NIA custody.

This marks the 17th instance since 2020 that the NIA has successfully facilitated the extradition or deportation of terror-related runaways.

Salman Khan had been serving a sentence for a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) conviction at Bengaluru Central Prison between 2018 and 2022.
    A pedophile jihadi? How stereotypical.
It was during this period that he came into contact with T Naseer, a convicted terrorist serving a life sentence, who played a key role in radicalising Khan and establishing a terror network within the prison.

The NIA's investigation uncovered how Salman, once radicalised, actively participated in terror activities, assisting in the procurement and distribution of arms, ammunition, and explosives to terror operatives.

Naseer also devised plots to facilitate his escape during court appearances, with Salman playing a part in these plans. When the terror conspiracy was exposed, Salman fled India and evaded capture until his arrest in Rwanda.

The NIA registered the Bengaluru Prisons Terror Conspiracy case on October 25 last year, taking over from Bengaluru City Police. Salman, who had been declared a runaway, was charged under the stringent UAPA, the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act.

A Red Notice was issued by Interpol at the NIA's request on August 2 this year. Acting on the notice, authorities in Rwanda arrested Salman and alerted Indian agencies, leading to coordinated efforts by the NIA, the Rwandan NCB, and Interpol, culminating in his extradition.

In 2024 alone, 26 runaways have been returned to India through coordinated efforts with Interpol, including Raihan Arabikkalalarikkal, wanted for crimes against minors, who was extradited from Saudi Arabia

Researchers say 3 seismometers in south detected Hamas activity on morning of Oct. 7
[IsraelTimes] Tel Aviv scientists find widely-spaced stations picked up heavy vehicle movement in 30 minutes prior to attack; findings could open way for detection systems to serve security

Tel Aviv University scientists, who have been working for five years to pinpoint seismic noises created by human activity, have discovered that the unusual flow of heavy vehicles driven by Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
    snuffies toward Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
’s border with Israel on October 7 last year was picked up by three seismic stations in southern Israel.

In a development that could open new possibilities for using these tools in security and industrial settings, the researchers have retrospectively identified weak but widespread human-induced seismic noise, from 6 a.m. onwards.

At 6:29 a.m., the first of some 3,000 Hamas-led snuffies burst across the border into Israel from Gaza by land, air and sea, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 251 hostages of all ages — mostly civilians — as thousands of rockets rained down on Israeli cities, towns and villages.

Findings of the study, led by Asaf Inbal of the Porter School of the Environment and Earth Sciences and the Sackler Faculty of Exact Sciences, were published in The Seismic Record, a journal of the Seismological Society of America.

The researchers explained that forensic seismology is often used to monitor conventional and nuclear explosions. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
this is the first time in history that weak ground motions resulting from preparations for a terrorist attack have been identified by analyzing the characteristics of seismic noise induced by vehicular traffic.

They believe the discovery demonstrates the potential usage of seismic-based sensing technology to provide early warnings of terrorist activity. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
they emphasize that the identification of these movements in Gaza was conducted retrospectively, months after the attack.

Inbal said, "The Israeli Geological Survey operates a nationwide network of dozens of highly sensitive seismometers that continuously monitor ground motions. This network is primarily designed to detect and locate earthquakes and provide warnings of strong ground shaking caused by large-magnitude seismic events."

    "However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
three stations in the network—located in Amazia, Ketziot, and Yatir, between 30 and 50 kilometers (18.5 to 31 miles) from Gaza, recorded unusual seismic noise levels early in the morning of October 7th, 2023. This noise can be attributed with confidence to the vehicular activity in Gaza as Hamas snuffies gathered for the attack. The time frame was between 6 a.m. and 6.30 a.m., before the rocket fire began. The likelihood that the recorded signals originated from Gaza is over 99.9 percent."

The team analyzed three years of data from the same three seismic stations and found no other instance of seismic noise at all three stations simultaneously or continuing for more than 10 minutes.

The stations are widely spaced. Some 80 kilometers (50 miles) separate Ketziot and Amazia, for example, and on previous Saturdays, there was no correlation between the data recorded at them.

Inbal said, "On the morning of the attack, when local activity near the stations was minimal [the morning of the Jewish festival of Simhat Torah], we found unique widespread seismic amplitudes, which monotonically increased as the time approached for the attack. No known natural or human source on the Israeli side could have generated seismic signals with a distribution and intensity similar to those attributed to Hamas movements.

"Although the outdoor music festival near Re’im [where more than 360 revelers were bumped off] generated some seismic noise, our analysis shows that this noise does not match the strength or location of the noise sources recorded by the Israeli seismic network on October 7."

The seismic noise intensified as the attack approached. Occasionally, it featured short bursts that allowed the scientists to pinpoint their source and track their progress as the vehicles advanced southward and northward within Gaza, from Rafah in the south to the Erez crossing in the north, during the 30 minutes leading up to the attack.

Inbal continued, "We have good resolution along Salah al-Din Road, a major thoroughfare crossing Gaza from Rafah in the south to Beit Lahiya in the north. We can confirm with high certainty that their forces moved along this route at speeds of 25 to 50 kilometers per hour [15 to 30 miles per hour]. Observations from stations dozens of kilometers from Gaza’s border indicate convoys of heavy vehicles such as bulldozers and trucks carrying operatives."

"Three minutes before the attack began, we detected noise sources reaching the northern end of Gaza near Beit Lahiya and the southern end near Khan Younis. At the same time, we continued receiving signals from central Gaza, near Nuseirat.

"We know the assault began almost simultaneously along the entire border, so these seismic observations provide further evidence of the extensive deployment of Hamas forces, likely enabling the simultaneous breach of the ground barrier."

    India-Pakistan
PM okays financial support for delegation tasked with Dr Aafia''s release, IHC told
[GEO.TV] Additional attorney general (AAG) on Monday apprised the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inked a summary seeking financial support for a delegation tasked with release of neuroscientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui
...American-educated Pak cognitive neuroscientist who was convicted of assault with intent to murder her U.S. interrogators in Afghanistan. In September 2010, she was sentenced to 86 years in jug after a three-ring trial. Siddiqui, using the alias Fahrem or Feriel Shahin, was one of six alleged al-Qaeda members who bought $19 million worth of blood diamonds in Liberia immediately prior to 9-11-01. Since her incarceration Paks have taken her to their heart and periodically erupt into demonstrations, while the government tries to find somebody to swap for her...
, who is currently imprisoned in the United States.
They’ll need a couple thou per person for hotels and per diem expenses, but even substantial bribes won’t get the bitch free, so why are they even bothering?
AAG Barrister Munawar Iqbal Duggal informed this to the court during hearing of a petition regarding efforts to bring her back to Pakistain. IHC Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the petition filed by the neuroscientist sister Fouzia Siddiqui.

The AAG apprised the court that Senator Irfan Siddiqui would not be accompanied by the delegation due to personal issues, adding that Senator Bushra would replace him.

It is pertinent to mention here that the neuroscientist was handed down an 86-year sentence in 2010 on charges of attempted murder and assault of US personnel in Afghanistan jail. She is serving the jail term in Carswell, a high-security prison in Fort Worth, Texas.

In October, the federal government informed the IHC that a delegation was being sent to the US for the release of Dr Aafia. The delegation will comprise former and incumbent parliamentarians, retired or serving military officers, doctors and Aafia's sister Fouzia Siddiqui.
Road trip!!! I suppose I can understand wanting to get out of Pakistan for a while. And given they can’t possibly vacation in India…
At the outset of today's hearing, a representative of the Foreign Office apprised the court that visa applications for the Pak officials had been submitted with the US officials concerned and expressed hope that their applications would be approved soon.
I suspect the US State Department staff is focussed on processing all the passport applications for domestic Progressives getting all their ducks in a row in case they need to bug out, between batches quietly panicking about figuring out how to look for a job in the private sector — those that took the Department-provided post-election therapist seriously, anyway.
They informed the IHC that the FO was providing all possible assistance to Dr Fouzia. Meanwhile,
...back at the pie fight, Bella opened her mouth at precisely the wrong moment...
the court adjourned the hearing till January 13.

India Successfully Tests Nuclear-Capable K-4 Missile From INS Arighaat, Adds Teeth To Naval Deterrence
    November 28, 2024
[OneIndia] India has successfully conducted a test of a nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) with a strike range of 3,500 km, according to sources. The trial was carried out from the newly commissioned nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arighaat, off the coast of Visakhapatnam and involved the K-4 missile, a solid-fuelled SLBM.

This marks the first instance of the K-4 missile being tested from INS Arighaat, which was inducted into the Indian Navy in August. Previously, the missile had only been tested from submersible platforms over several years.

India had earlier issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and a public alert for an intermediate-range missile test, covering a flight corridor of 3,490 km, scheduled between November 27 and 30.

A comprehensive analysis of the test results is currently underway to verify if the missile achieved its intended parameters and objectives, sources added.

The K-4 missile, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is designed to equip India's nuclear-powered submarines, bolstering its maritime deterrence. Nations such as the United States, Russia, and China already possess SLBMs with ranges exceeding 5,000 km.

The 6,000-tonne INS Arighaat is India's latest addition to its fleet of nuclear-powered submarines, enhancing its second-strike capability. The country's first nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arihant, inducted in 2016, is armed with shorter-range K-15 missiles capable of reaching 750 km.

A third submarine in the series, expected to have a displacement of 7,000 tonnes and greater capabilities, is anticipated to be inducted next year. Additionally, last month, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved the construction of two more nuclear-powered attack submarines to strengthen India's strategic presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

After 14 months, IDF announces US-Israeli hostage Cpt. Omer Neutra killed on Oct. 7
[IsraelTimes] Neutra, a tank commander stationed on border during Hamas’s terror onslaught, was abducted with 3 fellow troops; military chief rabbi declares death based on findings, new intel

    Fourteen months after Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
’s terror onslaught on October 7, 2023, the Israel Defense Forces on Monday said it had confirmed that Cpt. Omer Maxim Neutra, 21, was killed amid the attack and his body was being held hostage in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. Strip.

Neutra, a "lone soldier" from New York — called that because his parents were not in Israel — served as a tank platoon commander in the 7th Armored Brigade’s 77th Battalion.

Until now it had been believed that Neutra was alive and being held hostage.

On the morning of October 7, 2023, he was stationed in a tank on the Gaza border near the southern community of Nahal Oz. Neutra was the tank commander, Sgt. Shaked Dahan was the driver, Sgt. Nimrod Cohen was the gunner, and Sgt. Oz Daniel was the loader.

During the assault on southern Israel, their tank was attacked by Hamas holy warriors with RPG fire and bombs. All four were then kidnapped to Gaza.

Infamous footage from the attack showed Paleostinians in civilian clothing standing on and around their tank while it was wreathed in smoke and flames, and the soldiers being dragged out by Hamas terrorists.

Dahan’s death was confirmed in November 2023 and Daniel’s death was announced in February. Now, after 14 months, Neutra’s death was also confirmed. All three were killed on October 7, 2023, according to the IDF.

Cohen’s fate remains unknown, though his father, Yehuda, told Ynet news on Monday, "We have received indications that Nimrod is alive. I am sure my son is alive, and I am fighting."

Neutra’s death was declared by the Military Rabbinate based on findings and new intelligence information, according to the IDF.

In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his condolences to Neutra’s family and vowed that his body would be brought back to Israel for burial.

"Omer was a man of values, blessed with talents and a Zionist in every sense of the word," said Netanyahu. "He immigrated to Israel to enlist in the IDF, chose a combat path and was chosen to command and lead."

He added that Israel "will not rest or be silent until we return him home for a Jewish burial, and we will continue to act resolutely and tirelessly until we return all of our hostages."

Growing up in Long Island, New York, Neutra was a fan of the Knicks, and was the captain of his high school basketball team, his volleyball team, and the soccer team, when necessary. "That’s the kind of guy he is," said his father, Ronen Neutra.

Neutra decided to join the Israeli army after spending a gap year in Israel in 2020, putting off his plans to attend Binghamton University.

The Neutras last spoke with their son on October 6, the day before the massacre. When his parents, Ronen and Orna, heard what was happening on October 7, the father scrambled to contact his son.

Ronen Neutra told CBS News shortly after the Hamas massacre that his son was interested in peace-building and had looked forward to returning to Long Island and college. "They said that he’s been taken captive," said Orna Neutra. "So many have died that it’s just insane that you feel relief to think that your son is not dead, you know?"

It is believed that 97 of the 251 hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023, remain in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 35 confirmed dead by the IDF.

Hamas released 105 civilians during a weeklong truce in late November 2023, and four hostages were released before that. Eight hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 37 hostages have also been recovered, including three mistakenly killed by the military as they tried to escape their captors.

Hamas is also holding the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014, as well as two Israeli civilians who are both thought to be alive after entering the Strip of their own accord in 2014 and 2015.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of India's West Bengal state — which shares close cultural and linguistic ties with Bangladesh — urged New Delhi on Monday to petition the UN to address their concerns.

"They can send the peacekeeping force to Bangladesh and rescue our people," Banerjee said.

Bangladesh's de facto foreign minister Touhid Hossain expressed dismay over what amounted to one of the biggest censures of his country's leadership by India since Hasina's ouster.

"I don't know, I can't understand why Mamata Banerjee made such a statement. I know her personally, I have visited her home several times," he told news hounds.

Touhid accused Indian media of spreading disinformation about the status of Hindus in Bangladesh but offered a more conciliatory note to the neighbouring government.

Unknown gunmen open fire at cafe in Mexico, killing eight people
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Armed assailants killed eight people and wounded two at a roadside cafe in Guanajuato, Mexico. This was reported on December 1 by the N+ TV channel.

It is specified that the attack took place at night in the El Trebol area of Apaseo el Grande. According to eyewitnesses, unknown persons arrived at the crime scene in a "luxurious white car", stopped near a cafe, on the side of the road, opened fire on a group of men and fled the scene. However, neither before nor after the shooting did the attackers utter a word.
Sounds like a cartel head honcho type, throwing his weight around.
A total of eight people were killed, and two more people, a man and a woman, received gunshot wounds and were hospitalized. The prosecutor's office has identified three of the deceased - two firefighters and an ambulance doctor.
    How very odd.
    The shooters' motives remain unknown.
They clearly wanted to kill people. Sometimes that must suffice.
Earlier, Regnum News Agency reported that 10 race car drivers were killed and nine more were injured in a shooting that was opened by unknown persons at a gas station in the Mexican state of Southern California. The state prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy.

A Mexican court has sentenced three accomplices to 30 years in prison for the murder of Mexican journalist Maria Elena Ferral in the state of Veracruz. However, the person who ordered the murder has never been found.

    About 'images of victory'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] Regarding the "images of victory" rumors.

    It's always been simple here.

We achieved the officially declared goals - we won.

    1. Four regions within the 2014 borders as part of Russia (including Zaporozhye and Kherson)

    2. Guaranteed refusal to accept Ukraine into NATO (not for 10 or 20 years, but in principle)

    3. Demilitarization of Ukraine (what it looks like is spelled out in the Istanbul agreement)

    4. Denazification of Ukraine (banning Nazi parties and movements, ending the persecution of Russians and Russian-speakers, etc.)

    5. Etc. See Putin's conditions from February 2022 and June 2024. Nobody refused them.

Accordingly, if all official goals are achieved, this is a victory. They set official goals for the war - they achieved them - they won.
    Fair enough.
If they set them, achieved some goals, and did not achieve others, this can also be presented as a victory, but this is a conditionally limited victory with its short-term and long-term costs.

If they set goals and practically did not achieve any of them, then this is a defeat. It is important to remember that the final parameters of the end of the war will be compared with the official goals of Russia. Not with those that may be and are not voiced, and not with those that could be, but which again are not voiced. But with what was declared publicly as the official diplomatic position.

So the "image of victory" is forged through the achievement of the SVO goals declared by Putin.

The achievement of these goals will be a victory that no one will need to prove politically - everything will be obvious anyway.

Iraq sends additional forces to Syrian borders: Minister
[Rudaw] Iraq sent additional reinforcement to the border areas with Syria, Defense Minister Thabet al-Abbasi said on Monday, stressing that the situation is "under control," as tensions continue to grow in Syria.

"The situation is calm at the border and the military units are on high alert. I want assure the Iraqi people that everything is under control," Abbasi told Rudaw’s Halkawt Aziz in Baghdad.

The minister noted that there are high coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials and the Peshmerga ministry to secure the border areas.

"Our brother, the Peshmerga Chief of Staff, attended the meeting of the National Security Council, and there is high coordination between us," he said.

Iraqi officials, including the defense minister, visited the army in the bordering areas with Syria on Saturday to monitor the preparations, and ensure that the fight does not spill into Iraq, including a possible infiltration of Jihadist bandidos Lions of Islam into the country.

The minister also conducted an "aerial reconnaissance tour along the Iraq-Syria border strip" to inspect measures taken by the security forces, according to a statement from his office.

A coalition of Syrian rebel groups, led by the jihadist Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
(HTS), have made a dramatic grab of territory in northern Syria over the past week. They took control of the northern city of Aleppo, the largest in the country, and advanced their offensive into Hama province.

The Syrian army on Monday said it began carrying out deadly strikes with top ally Russia against advancing rebels and jihadists in the north and has begun pushing them back across three provinces.

Syrian President Bashir al-Assad on Monday said that the developments are part of a wider plan to divide the region, in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian, with Tehran also a key backer of Damascus.

Assad vowed that the escalation "will only increase Syria’s determination to confront and eliminate bandidos Lions of Islam in all Syrian territories," while Pezeshkian reaffirmed support for Damascus.

    But both Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Russia are in very different positions from the last time they jumped to Assad’s assistance to dislodge the rebels across the country. Russia is at war in Ukraine and Iran’s network of proxies has been weakened by Israel.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor, placed the corpse count in five days of fighting at 446, including 200 and 44 bandidos Lions of Islam from HTS and SNA respectively, 141 Syrian army soldiers, and 61 civilians.

Over 20,000 Syrians have been displaced within Aleppo due to the recent surge of violence, according to the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
