#1 I watched a Russian (subtitles) movie about snipers some time ago. A herd of recruits (I used the term "herd" because that is how they were treated) was shown getting some weapons and rushed to the front; they were slaughtered by Nazi machine gunners. As they retreated, they were slaughtered by the Political Commissars. Decide where you want to die. Appears the same thing (or something very much like it) is going on nowl.
