#1 It's all going his way. Why negotiate with western liars. Western credibility is shot. Most up to date army and equipment that has taken years to develop. Generals front line with troops. So a few are killed. Many available to replace them. Current kill ratio 10-8 to 1. Western haters of Russia have been around for many years. Just as they hate China. They want them back under control on the plantation but that will never happen now.The multi polar world is here deal with it.

#2 ...I think it could also be praised thusly:

1: Volodya has completely lost his Дерьмо.
2: He is not so crazy that he doesn't understand that any slacking off will lead to his quick 'retirement', and likely in a most terminal fashion.
3. He also understands that all he has to do is wait us out; and by us I mean the US and NATO. It might take years, but all he has to do is not lose.

People keep saying that. Historically Kill Ratios reported by one side in a war are 'guesstimates' at best and usually are low grade fecal material. The Roman Senate actually told aspiring young Legates (political generals) to stop sending back barbarian body count claims. The US Air Force in WW2 supposedly shot down twice (2X !) the number of German aircraft that the Germans had manufactured between 'confirmed kills' and 'probable kills'. Try something more believable...
