#1 You but I didn't need to read anthing to tell me this. I look around my friends and we all are doing better. In fact the last $$$ year is the best in 31 years of being married. In October we will have got all personal non-mortgage debt paid off. John Kerry and the dems are full of sheite.

#2 .com, anyone who purports that there is a growing difference between the lifestyles of the ought to visit the Breakers in Newport. There is very little worth having that is not available to the middle-class American. Personally, I have no desire to party like an Enron or Global Crossing executive. The greatest divide that exists in modern day is the divide between the impoverished American (only able to afford two movie channels to go with his basic cable package) and the impoverished citizen in Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Uzbekistan....

#3 If you missed it, Scrappleface, referring to the same IRS data, covered this on July 29: Edwards: Kerry Plans to Help Struggling '1st America'

#4 Flame, the "me and my friends are doing better" line of argument is classic Pauline Kael logic. My people are doing fine, yes - but I don't live in the part of the country that's allegedly doing poorly, or work in the part of the labor sector that's allegedly getting socked. Even though I am - I work customer support via phone. My bosses have inexplicably failed to outsource my lazy American ass.

#5 Until somebody can explain to me how thousands of kids can go to school with cell phones paid for by their "poverty-stricken" parents during this time of economic doom and gloom, Kerry etc. can shut the hell up.

How many people in the "struggling" economy pay for 1. cell phones, 2. internet / highspeed internet, 3. digital cable / sports packages, 4. digital cameras, 5. mobile PDFs, 6. laptop computers (required to go to any university - even many local collleges), 7. SUVs instead of minivans, 8. breast implants, 9. unstoppable sales figures for DVDs, video games, CPU games, etc. 10. etc etc etc etc.

There are so many things that people have that cost alot of money when you add it up that they did NOT have the money for even during the "prosperous" 90s. Anyone worried about the economy needs to take a step back and see just how many of the items listed above that they either own or purchase on a regular basis. Take an inventory of how many of those things that they did NOT have 10 years ago. Then try to tell me how bad we all have it.
