#2 I think it was live, but I wonder how they would have handled it if she needed a diaper change.

#3 To me, the real issue is why doesn't the president tell us the truth?"

See! I told you so! I just said on another thread that the one and only theme of the Kerry campaign is that "Bush lied". You can say ANYTHING! ANYTHING AT ALL, and Kerry supporters will respond, like parrots, "Bush lied".

Someone should tell them it's not working.

#5 I am still waiting for a response to an email I sent to CBS News and 60 minutes. I ask them to show the public the ‘preponderance of evidence’ that shows Lt Bush shirked his Guard duty. I reminded them that after five years of investigation they have hearsay and forged documents. Either Mary Mapes is THE most inept investigative reporter (quite possible) in the world or the story (Bush shirked his duty) is not true. Helen is just feeding off the urban that was started way back when Bush ran for Governor of Texas. The LLL thinks that the reason the story has never been proven is because of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy has done an effective cover-up. They only way around this was to ‘find’ documents of an officer that couldn’t contradict their story. I was in the Military and we LOATHE someone who gets preferential treatment. If Lt Bush got preferential treatment or shirked his duties, there would have been hundreds of people lining up against him. Kind of like the Swiftees! ;-)

#6 Sarge, I believe the question that needs to be answered is did he or did he not complete the points requirement for guard duty each year of his service. I believe the records show he did. I believe he needed 50 points a year from 1968 to 1972 - and I believe from what I've read & heard on the radio that he exceeded those points requirements each year to include the year he was in 'bama. To me that means case closed, let's move on to some real issues.

#7 Man, I thought Anthony Perkins took care of this nutbag once and for all.

#8 Jarhead, that's my point! They are trying to prove an urban legend. ANY rational person would have concluded long ago that Bush completed his service and was honorably discharged. These LLL and Mary Mapes in particular are hell bent on finding something that simply isn't there. They can't possibly fathom that dumb old Bush flew fighter jets and by all acounts was a good pilot. They are looking for a chink in that service so they could exploit it. My contention is that if the story had an ounce of truth they would have had no problem finding a LIVING guard member to confirm this. Other than the now discredited Burkett they have nothing.

#9 I hear ya Sarge, the swiftees is a good analogy because there you got over 50 highly decorated guys saying one guy is a fraud - pretty damming for anyone who has had anything to do w/the mil. I know people talk about Kerry's crewmates, but let's be honest, if you look at how many of them we're only on Kerry's boat for a few days to a few weeks you see the fallacies. That green beret he pulled out of the drink was only on his boat a day and the msm tried to make him out to be a kerry crewmate (hello susan estrich you stupid b*tch) who knew Kerry's life story or some such. I find it devastating that 50 different highly decorated officers and senior enlisted men call kerry a sham. If you can get 6 different folks to agree shit stinks it's a miracle. A lot of folks don't like the swiftees but I don't care, they only confirmed for me what I had a hunch on when all this started.

#11 Sarge, here's a copy of my email to CBS:

"I'm very disappointed in the FCC's ruling that CBS be fined $550,000 for the Janet Jackson episode. I think CBS is blameless in this and the fine far out weighs the putative damage done.

On the other hand it's pretty obvious that you weren't duped on the forged Bush National Guard documents; you were caught. It's pretty clear from the behavior of CBS, before and during the fiasco, that the story was pursued, not because it was thought to be true, but because you wanted it to be true. You have lost any claim to being a fair reporter of the news and for that you should lose your license. At a minimum, any news broadcast you present should have a crawl at the bottom of the screen that says "CBS news has been shown to be biased and unreliable".

And no, I'm not a Republican, neo-con or any of the other labels you have chosen not to represent with your biases".

Likewise, no response.......

#12 Nice Email! But I am a card-carrying religious NeoCon so whatever I send them is just dismissed as such. I bet they didn’t have one officer from bush’s squadron review those documents. They (better than anyone else) would know how he served and if he was given special treatment as is claimed. Unfortunately (for CBS), there are no former officers that will confirm their fantasy or even something close to it. So they had to find someone outside the unit, like Mr. Burkett. Notice I will not address the 86-year-old former typist who claims that she was confided by the Commander as to certain personnel decisions or concerns. As a matter of fact when they did talk to anyone who served with or flew with they got nothing but glowing appraisals of Lt Bush. Now Jarhead will have to back me up on this but if you have a slacker in your unit, EVERYONE is aware of that slacker. And if that person professes to be something they are not, EVERYONE will pounce and denounce their story. You have a PRIME example of this theory with the Swiftees.

I find it rather funny that when Clinton was having his legal problems, the lefties were constantly complaining that everybody should "move on" from it all. Now, it's the lefties that just can't seem to move on....

#15 Your right Sarge, although two of the swiftees (to be fair) have had conflicting accounts on Kerry's performance - I think they said he was highly reliable/good officer or some such. The other 50 or so makes up for that in my mind. I think the fact that the dems cannot find one legit person to contradict the prez is damming. And an 86 year old lady who was not even the personal secretary of Killian (that's right from the son's mouth) can say with certainty that she didn't type the documents but are sure they reflect the Commanding Officer's thoughts at the time is just too pathetic. Man, what a laugh.
