#2 A blogger writing on democraticunderground.com was dismayed. "This is a city that is overwhelmingly Democratic, but the right-wing talk radio stations in town consistently get much better ratings."

"Another step down the short road to fascism! Damn those filthy neocon Jew-loving RethugliKKKan scum! How did Rove get to the radio station?"

Air America seeks another home in Central Texas, but nothing is imminent, Kaufman said. He'd welcome tips at dkaufman@airamerica.com.

"If someone can point me in the direction of someone more amenable to picking up our format, I'll take all the help I can get," Kaufman said.

Try Radio Iran, DPRK Radio, one of those.

Maybe because 'your' demographic is reading the NYT while sipping their latte at Starbucks? Can't be bothered with radio. If you own the local newspaper and television station crowd, why are you worried about 'talk' radio? Other than the totalitarian impulse to control the information flow rather than allow the market place [of commerce and ideas] go its own way?

#6 Austin doesn't have an NPR station? If yes, that'll have sucked up their audience, if no, then Austin doesn't have enough of an audience to support Air America either.

#7 UT is in Austin. It has a radio station that is affiliated with NPR.

It is KUT 90.5. ALL THINGS CONSIDERED is on now. Go listen and you tell me why Air America wouldn't work in Austin. Its as red as Madison or Berkeley.

#8 are they still on the air? I guess that there is always an endless supply of charity for orphans and widows that one can siphon off.
