What does that say, other than the man is a dirty rat, when he wants to promote and protect the Muslim cause but doesn't want to be seen attributed to it. That is scary scary shit.

#4 I think that he may have called off the visit to have the opportunity to advance the narrative that Americans are turning against him because they think he's a crypto-Muslim, rather than because of his policies or his incompetence ("You know how those bitter, scared folks in fly-over country can be"). That's what he probably tells his friends off the record.

I suspect that his more deeply felt motivation is that he is a thin-skinned crybaby who doesn't want anyone to be able to make fun of him in a silly outfit.
