What does the SEIU have to say about that?

#5 1. It was part of Egypt till they lost it to the Israelis in war, years later then decided to recognize it as an independent entity when they no longer exercised control.

2. Relative to a large part of the Egyptian population, the Gaza is more prosperous and the people better off economically. It's all relative.

3. This may be part of a 're-absorption' plan.

#6 Some of them are going to be newcomers fleeing Syria, per Ma'an:

About 100 Palestinians residing in Damascus have arrived in Cairo en route to the Gaza Strip, as violence between the regime of Bashar Assad and rebel fighters intensifies, Egyptian officials said Sunday.

The Palestinian embassy in Cairo is liaising with Egyptian authorities to allow the Palestinians into Egypt after they left Syria without applying for visas due to the unstable situation.

The Palestinians are not registered as refugees in Syria, but rather Gaza residents living there.
