#2 The refusal to recognize characterizes the entire Western political establishment. This has been true since at least 9/11/2001. Obama is a symptom, not the cause.

I hope Jindal's speech will start a controversial debate at least in the US.

Radical Islam i.e. Sharia brutality combined with open aggressive demands of Western submission is mainstream Islam. Radical Islam is normalcy by OIC standards.

The extremist, tiny and powerless fringe of Islam is true moderate Islam that would be compatible with a free and open society.

If Western occupation in Afghanistan and first and foremost in Iraq had consequently rewarded and empowered that fringe element and simultaneously humiliated and intimidated hostile radical mainstream Islam the outlook wouldn't be as bleak.

Such a policy, however could only have been conducted by a West with above-zero civilizational confidence.
