Since the sheriff suggested he had "mental health issues", I suspect either unmedicated severe paranoid schizophrenia or unmedicated severe bipolar disorder, Brer Rabbit. Or sociopathy, which doesn't have any treatment.

#3 I've gone through that checkpoint about 100 times, and the atmosphere is almost always relaxed and casual. To me it's really amazing that Lt Sylve got her act together quickly enough to put three shots on target. It must have been like going from zero to sixty in .2 seconds. But the cops in Jefferson Parish are generally pretty solid.

#8 All this racism has me reacting in a strange way - when I saw the perp he was not a typical white guy, so I felt relief at that moment (no having to go thru the usual press jumping to conclusion about White Tea Party etc). That is very f'd up what the press has done in conditioning us that way.
