#2 Read today (someplace down the memory hole) that you can ID Chinese products by the leading 3 digits of the bar code. 690-695 are numbers to boycott.

Numbers may be displayed as "6 90" rather than "690"

#3 The problem is they make too many of everybody's intermediate products. Ingredients and chems that go into making many household, pharma, industrial things.

That's where they do real business, and that's where we must hurt them. Practically all Chinese stuff has been left sitting in supermarkets in India. And now there are attempts to expedite the production of intermediate goods domestically, or source them elsewhere.

It's the cheapness that the profiteer goes for, that gives them the edge. But cheapness has it's own minuses.

Saw something about that a while ago (Dude, it was this morning!). Someone replied that the leading digits of the code show where it was registered. Not clear to me if that makes it a kinda-sorta proxy for being Chinese goods.

From What Do the Numbers on a Barcode Mean?
scroll down to the Country of Origin in Barcodes section

Contrary to a popular myth, you can't identify a product's country of origin simply by reading the first two or three numbers of a barcode. You can, however, determine which country issued the barcode number.
