Convert to Judaism, and you’re good to go. Just make sure you go to a Modern Orthodox rabbi — Israel at the moment does not accept Reform conversions, and they can be funny about Conservative ones. Figure three years of study with constant challenges to your conviction, since God doesn’t need you to be Jewish in order to let you into Heaven, a ceremonial snip when you graduate if you are male, and not only will you have the right to make aliyah but one of your great-grandsons can be the next king of the Jews, just like King David. ;-)

They came to it late. Besides, as I explain above, anyone willing to do the work can join the ethnicity, which means what Israel is doing is not actually old-fashioned Blood & Soil ethno-nationalism at all.
