#12 Re #10: If the article yesterday about a couple of Iranian pilots being smashed against the hanger roof by their F-4, then yes, it goes far beyond a nightmare. Just stay in the hanger, Reza, it's safer.

#13 The F4 has been in service since 1961. Israel not only owned them at one time and modifced them somewhat. Sounds like they found a way to modify Iran's F4 Pilot Eject to be "all encompassing".

#14 I believe the ejecty plane from yesterday was an F-5.

Is it possible that catching fire and sinking was all part of a training drill? I know nothing about Iranian naval tactics, but there is a saying about "train like you fight, fight like you train". The next time festivities jump off for the Persians, I would expect the navy to be doing a lot of catching fire and sinking, so this could be good practice.

#15 Damage control, damage control, damage control. It has to be built into the design of the ship, and drilled into the crew. Yes, a fire, especially at sea, can get away from you, but crews need to practice, practice, practice for emergencies.
