They could have added that every Russian over 35 remembers enduring FAR worse hardship - not coincidentally, during the 1990s.

There's literally nothing the US can do to Russia that compares to the decade-long nightmare of economic devastation and social ruin that the Russian people endured between 1991 and 1999.

China Says Ukraine Foreign Minister Sought Help to Negotiate Cease-Fire With Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba urged his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to help mediate a cease-fire with Russia during a phone call Tuesday, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website.

Mr. Wang said China supported a negotiated solution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, and “supports all constructive international efforts that are conducive to a political solution,” according to the ministry.

During the phone call, Mr. Wang reiterated Beijing’s stance in respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.

Mr. Wang expressed dismay at the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, saying China is “extremely concerned about harm to civilians,” according to the statement.

Beijing signed a statement of solidarity with Russian President Vladimir Putin early last month, but has also tried to keep some distance from Moscow after it launched its assault on Ukraine, while accusing the U.S. of inflaming tensions. Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday said he supported negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Then we're back to Minsk II. Only now, instead of Ukraine having an intact country and an American protector, they've lost all the southern and eastern territories, their dam that prevented water for Crimea has been destroyed, and half their country is wrecked. And thousands of their people have been killed.

With China as the new global leader, the only mature, adult rational great power left.

I seriously cannot believe America is trying for this outcome. Americans have been played for fools. Yet again.

But as we see in the other post, Russia’s position is fixed, not open to negotiation — Ukraine asking China to help isn’t going to change anything. Separately, China expects to be the sole hegemon standing at the end, with all including America and Russia prostrate at her feet.
