He wanted to close the deal in the Donbas and createvavlabs bridge across to Crimea. They did that. Ukraine will become a neutral no man's land, and its economy and cities are totally wrecked, as Putin wanted.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the West continued to throw money at Ukraine afterward, for rebuilding. That’s what they’ve been doing for the Palestinians for years.

#4 Yeah, while China Saudi Arabia and India throw money at Putin's Russia. Ukraine will cost the West at least $50 billion a year for another 20 years. Europeans now have to pay to rearm themselves, and rebuild Ukraine, and support 3-4 million destitute Ukrainian refugees.

Russia didn't "swallow a hedgehog." It's the EU that's now digesting a financial hedgehog

#5 Russia has to rebuild a depleted army that did not perform up to expectations, Beldar Darling of the Danes1602, the Ukraine, the heart of the Rus, rejected them to the point of destruction instead of falling gratefully into Russia’s loving arms.

At a time when Russia’s population is falling.

So: a resentful Ukraine not generating profits for Moscow after a very expensive invasion. Both have swallowed hedgehogs, adn probably China will not be nearly as happy with the outcome as they planned, also.

#6 /\ Concur! China is very likely taking a serious re-look at any action on Taiwan. One would assume there existed some sort of military or economic support agreement btwn the two with regards to Russians recent "Special Operation" in the Ukraine. Any support Russia could give China currently, appears to be evaporating.
