#2 That’s what a liveblog looks like, Mr. Exceptional — have you not been reading the ones posted here every day since President Putin’s Ukraine Adventure began? One reads down through the items, mentally arranging them into patterns. A few items trigger a search for more information, usually found elsewhere on Rantburg, whether other articles or reader discussions.

#3 11:11 Japan in its Diplomatic Blue Book returned to the definition of the South Kuriles as a territory "illegally occupied" by Russia. This wording was last mentioned in 2003.

Keep an eye on this. This is the second time in two weeks that the Japanese have brought this up, and I wonder if they're not quietly seeing what kind of response they'll get.

If the Ukraine totals are accurate, Russia has lost, in one month, more than 20% of their initial invasion force. Probably much more than 20% of their elite and special forces. Probably much more than 20% of their best equipment.
