Good call. The Fed jumped in and 'cleaned up the mess' after Lehman and Bear Stearns fell. This time the PBiC will jump in and lease enough ships to absorb all of Russia's commodities so the market can stabilize.

In other words, Russia's winning the economic war.

Russia can keep selling its oil, wheat, coal, fertilizer, and metals while Ukraine's infrastructure is wiped out, it's landlocked and has no way to ship anything even if it's factories farms and distribution were not in ruins, and the West now has to pick up the $100 billion rebuilding tab.

People in Washington want the war to go on for at least a year. By then Ukraine will look like Germany in 1945. Reconstruction will cost the US and the West over $1 trillion.

Along with sanctions, the debt explosion to fund Ukraine is another reason the dollar is going to be blown out. Goodbye reserve currency status.

Is Biden getting ready to profit personally from Ukraine reconstruction? Certainly a much bigger opportunity for graft than Burisma.

It matters if a nation's policies are based on global trade flows that leave the nation with enormous trade deficits and 30 trillion in debt.

Hermit kingdoms can't rely on other nations to pay their bills and fund their profligate spending. Shrink the trade deficit and the debt to zero before that even becomes more than a pipe dream.

Obviously, indeed. According to the polls, it’s just that the decreasing number who support President Biden is increasingly loud. Also, the original number of his supporters was inflated by all those imaginary Americans who voted in key states, and key precincts in those states in 2020. Millions of them have been removed from the voter rolls since then, and in a number of states the registration and voting procedures tightened up since then.

US imports from China are now twice what they were under Trump: about $700 billion annually. The US trade deficit was out of control before Biden. Now it's astronomical.
