#4 Who knew Ukrainian Russians loved New York so much they named a city after it?

#5 Another interview a few days ago with Colonel Markus Reisner of Austria's Theresianischen Militärakademie.

INTERVIEWER: Selenskyj spoke of up to 100 killed Ukrainian soldiers a day.

COL. MARKUS REISNER: In addition, there is at least twice the number of wounded. Selenskyj even spoke of up to 500 wounded. If you extrapolate that, that's 3,000 dead and 6,000 wounded in one month. That's an enormous number.

The medical supply is precarious. In the hospitals of Bakhmut, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, only amputations are done anymore, there is no more reconstructive surgery. It's all about survival. Most soldiers die at the front or on the way to the hospitals.

You spoke of a chain reaction that could develop on the Ukrainian side.

COL. MARKUS REISNER: The danger is that general panic will break out in the pocket and the soldiers will try to retreat to a favorable line that is easier to hold. If this is done in an orderly manner, that would be a line east of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. But if panic breaks out, that last line could be much lower, on the Dnipro.

Then practically half of Ukraine would be lost.

COL. MARKUS REISNER: The Russians currently occupy 24 percent of Ukraine - less than they already had, but a lot.

Before February 24, 80 percent of the country's value creation took place in this 24 percent.

The Russians have captured 95 percent of the Kherson district, about 70 percent of the neighboring Zaporizhia district, 60 percent of Donetsk, and 97 percent of Luhansk.

By the way, there are two interesting comparisons from history to the Donbas pocket, both of which have a German connection. One is the heavy fighting around Verdun in the First World War. The German General Erich von Falkenhayn wanted to turn Verdun into a "meat grinder" for the French, he wanted to beat them there in a war of attrition. He would have almost succeeded if the Allies had not come to the French's aid. It could be that the Russian tactic is to use up as many incoming Ukrainian arms and troops as possible in the Donbas pocket.

And the other potential parallel?

COL. MARKUS REISNER: This is the Falaise cauldron, 1944 in France. This battle broke the neck of the German Wehrmacht in France. They waited too long, were surrounded, panic broke out, the Germans had to retreat and were only able to form a continuous front line again on the German-French border. If Ukraine hesitates too long in Donbass and they have no realistic chance of winning this battle, such a chain reaction may set in.

#6 Another interview yesterday with Col. Reisner

Previous interview was from Saturday 04 June 2022 and has the English headline, War in Ukraine: "Four rocket launchers, that's purely symbolic"

At the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian army acted very wisely, says military historian and colonel in the Austrian army, Markus Reisner. "The Russians recognized that and adjusted to it." In the current battle in the Donbas pocket, he sees the chances being unequally distributed.

#7 Wikipedia - Reiter or Schwarze Reiter ("black riders"), were a type of cavalry in 16th to 17th century Central Europe including Holy Roman Empire, Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, Tsardom of Russia, and others.

Similarly, Der Blaue Reiter was an art movement lasting from 1911 to 1914, fundamental to Expressionism, along with Die Brücke [bridge] which was founded in 1905.

#8 And yet Putin still sits dying in his hall of extremely long meeting tables. He wished to be the next Stalin but fell short.

#9 Actually, the Russians are now going to take Zaporizhiye and Kherson, and they've set up anti-missile batteries on Zmeony Island, so Odesa might be in play as well.

They completely control the land bridge, the railway's operational and they can resupply all across the south and east with heavy artillery, missiles and weaponry.

They're now on the brink of controlling almost 30 percent of the whole country, and nearly 90% of its productive assets.

This is really astonishing in view of what Putin asked for at Minsk II -- just Crimea and limited authentic bony for just two regions in the East, or about 7% total and no real economic clout.

Now they'll have complete control of the most valuable parts of Ukraine, about four times as much territory as per the status quo ante. This represents a colossal failure by the West.

#12 trolls

🤡

It's becoming comical. So the Biden Administration's lapdogs at the New York Times are pretending that the US military, which has officers and special ops and even diplomats crawling all over Kyiv and western Ukraine, is "in the dark" about Ukraine's operational and tactical battle plans?
Really?
Hahahahaha

No, what's happening is that the whole clownshow is collapsing. Russia now controls not 7% (that was in February), or even 20% (that was Zelensky's line a few days ago), but OVER 24% of Ukraine and OVER 80% of its productive regions.

The CIA's getting in front of the blame game.
Who lost Vietnam? Who lost Iraq? Who lost Afghanistan? Who lost Ukraine? Not us!

#15 If the only opponent he can beat is a strawman, Rob, then by golly he’ll line ‘em up and knock ‘em down.

Dear Visitors: we do not care what the New York Times reports, because we do not trust what the New York Times reports. So quoting the New York Times reports proves nothing to us.

With regard to Russia, I have to ask how Pyrrhic the vaunted Russian victory will be. In goodwill and trust alone — within as well as well beyond Ukraine's borders — all the things President Putin hoped to prevent have come to pass. The small countries on the Russian periphery may fear being ground up by the Russian war machine, but neither China nor the West have nightmares as they used to.

#16 He's not lying. It was Zelensky who announced that he's lost 20 percent of his country -- it's now about 25% -- by rejecting Minsk, the peace deal that would have kept Russia down to no more than a few percent.

Candidate for the worst bet of the century.

As to the other character, the other day here he announced he would stand by his characterization of hyper-capitalist Russia as "communist"... What can one say?

Where will Zelensky flee after he and his fellow thieves pocket the billions they fleeced Uncle Sam of?

The best guess is Tel Aviv, with his other Jewish thieves like Kolomoisky
