#7 Invading Poland would be silly. I think the Wagners are sitting there as a ready force in case NATO wants to up the ante and/or to keep the Poles from acting on any ideas about redrawing historical borders. Plus, they can train up the Belarus army while they are waiting.

I would be unsuprised.
I don't know if the Russians still do it, but maskirovka (disguise) used to be a big thing with the Soviets. There is a Cold War era story about major storm that hit a naval base in the north. The next day, satellite imagery showed one of the fearsome submarines docked there was now folded in half and draped across the pier, almost as if it were giant balloon.
