#2 ^A matter of habit. When I lived in US (well NM, but it's the same thing), it took me time to get used to cane sugar (and I never got used to adding sugar to meat dishes).

#4 /\ Now, can we get the ethanol out of gasoline?

F-150 purrs nicely on non-ethanol. Costs a bit more, but I'm willing to pay for better performance.

#5 I believe that beet sugar and cane sugar are basically indistinguishable, beet sugar is the more dominant crop in our country, so you would more than likely be getting beet sugar in your coke.

#8 High fructose corn syrup is a processed food. It's poison.
Too much sugar isn't good for you but hell, the human body is designed to digest it.
HFCS? No.
We banned the red dye made from petrochemical residue for the same reason.
No amount of money for farmers is acceptable if we pay with our health.
MAHA!

#18 Skid with any luck it our beet farmers in western Minnesota will pick up the slack without any problem.

As far as cane vs beet, pretty much identical.

In fact we have been using beet sugar to top off our beehives going into winter for decades. Less solids and 4 times the amount of peroxide (in the sucrose honey) which greatly benefits the bee gut over the long winner. In fact far better for the overwintering hives that nectar honey.
