Ferguson police officer shot, struck in arm
[KSDK] A Ferguson, Missouri, police officer was treated at a local hospital after being shot in the arm Saturday night.

According to police, the shooting occurred while the male officer was on a routine business check at the Ferguson Community Center.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., the officer witnessed a male suspect in the rear of the building. When the officer stepped out of his vehicle, attempting to make contact, the suspect began to flee from the scene. The officer then pursued the suspect on foot.

The suspect, armed with a handgun, fired multiple rounds at the officer during the pursuit. The officer returned fire but there is no indication, at this time, that the suspect was struck.

Ferguson, Mo. Police Officer shot in the arm.
(CNN) -- A Ferguson, Missouri, police officer was shot Saturday evening, according to St. Louis County Police spokesman Brian Schellman.
It was only a matter of time, given presidential and DoJ tacit approval for protest and violence.
The officer was wounded in the arm. His injuries are non-life-threatening and he is in the hospital, said Ferguson police spokesman Tim Zoll.
Non-life threatening this time. He was very lucky.
Police said that the officer was shot near the Ferguson community center, an area which has not been the focus of protests over the Michael Brown shooting.

The police officer was patrolling alone in his car, two men saw the car and ran, said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar.

"The officer exited his car; he ran to the west chasing these individuals. As he came into very close proximity with them, one of the individuals turned with a firearm," Belmar said. "The officer was able to block it with his arm and then was shot in the arm by one of the suspects."
No back-up ?
The wounded officer later said that he fired "a couple of shots," Belmar said, but police have no evidence that either of the suspects was struck.
Fired shots into the clouds no doubt.
He said he did not think the shooting was connected with Ferguson's protests.
No, simply a coincidence. We're routinely shot at here in Ferguson.
"It didn't happen within the proximity of the protest area," he said. "This (the shooting scene) is an area that's fairly secluded."

"I wouldn't have any reason to believe right now that it was linked in any way, shape, manner or form with the protests," he said.
"No reason to believe right now".... but possibly later, after common sense kicks in, who knows.
Other police sources had previously reported that there was one suspect. One police spokesman said that the officer saw him flee from the back door of Ferguson's community center.
Suspected of what, CNN.

Egypt court postpones Hosni Mubarak verdict to November 29
Cairo -- An Egyptian court postponed to Nov. 29 its verdict on whether former president Hosni Mubarak ordered the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising that ended his 30-year rule. Before adjourning the hearing on Saturday, the judge said he and members of the prosecution team had not finished reviewing all the evidence in the case, which amounted to 160,000 pages.
Just deal with the old codger already...
Perhaps, in view of his advanced age, ill health, and as a major cost savings to a state surviving on Saudi largess, he ought to be remanded to house arrest for the duration. A small military detachment could serve as guards, as it were.
Mubarak, his interior minister Habib Al Adly and six other senior security officers are accused of ordering the killings of more than 800 protesters, sowing chaos and creating a security vacuum during the 18-day revolt.

The 86-year-old was flown by helicopter to the court at a police academy on the outskirts of Cairo, after he was wheeled on a stretcher from a military hospital in the capital, an AFP correspondent and police said.

Mubarak, who ruled Egypt for three decades, is charged alongside seven of his security commanders with involvement in the deaths of hundreds of demonstrators during the 18-day uprising. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison in the initial trial, but an appeals court overturned the verdict on a technicality.

The court on Saturday will also rule on corruption charges against Mubarak and his two sons Alaa and Gamal. Mubarak and his sons have already been sentenced to up to four years in prison in a separate corruption trial.

The former president has spent much of his detention gibbering in a military hospital.

Russia-South Africa nuclear deal: DA demands answers .
[Africa Report] South Africa's opposition, the Democratic Alliance (DA), says a recent nuclear deal between Russia and the African nation must be opposed to "the bitter end".
Zille 'n bitter einder ?
DA leader, Hellen Zille says the nuclear co-operation deal between the two countries - announced by Russian energy company, Rosatom - was a political rather than an economic one and must be fought.

Early this week Rosatom announced a multi billion rand deal to supple South Africa with nuclear reactors. Addressing a press conference in Cape Town Zille said: "We must stop this corrupt undercover agreement that will be disastrous for SA".

Zille described the Russia nuclear deal is a "mega arms deal in the making" and that her opposition to it was a "fight that must be taken on if we are to prevent future generations footing the estimated R1 trillion bill for a deal ten times the size of the arms deal".
Ag the irony. But Hellen my dear, I thought the only bitter einders were Boers. Enjoy your chickens home to roost.

Britain
Blow for British PM as Second MP Defects to UKIP
[AnNahar] British Prime Minister David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
suffered a blow on Saturday as Mark Reckless defected to UKIP, the second Conservative backbencher to join the euroskeptic party in two months.

Reckless' announcement was greeted with rapture at the United Kingdom Independence Party's annual conference, where delegates jumped out of their seats cheering the switch.

The defection comes just one month after fellow Conservative backbencher Douglas Carswell also left Cameron's center-right party for the anti-European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, anti-immigration UKIP.

"The leadership of the Conservative Party is part of the problem that is holding our country back," said Reckless, who has made a name for himself as one of the Conservatives' most rebellious politicians.

"Today I am leaving the Conservative Party and joining UKIP," said the 43-year-old, sparking jubilation at the conference in Doncaster, northern England.

"These decisions are never easy. Mine certainly has not been. Many have been the sleepless nights when I have talked it over with my wife and thought about the future of our children.

"It is a decision I make from optimism, a decision that is born of belief that Britannia can be better and of my knowledge of how the Westminster parties hold us back -- but also of my belief in the fresh start UKIP offers.

"We all know the problem of British politics. People feel disconnected from Westminster. But disconnected is too mild a word. People feel ignored, taken for granted, over-taxed, over-regulated, ripped off and lied to."

Reckless represents Rochester and Strood, in Kent, southeast England.

UKIP topped the polls at the European Parliament elections in May.

Pro Russian militias find mass graves in Donetsk

Rantburg.com

Donetsk city continues to come under Ukrainian artillery fire, and combatants have been fighting in localities northwest of Lugansk, while mass graves have been uncovered, according to the English language Voice of Sevastopol.

The graves were found last Monday near the town of Nizhnyaya Krinka, north of Donetsk city near Zhdanovka, and were discovered after Ukrainian police units had withdrawn from the area in accordance with the September 19th Minsk ceasefire.

The dead total 40, and include civilians, captured soldiers and women, according to various militia reports.

According to a report posted on the website of the Organization for European Security and Cooperation (OESC), a Special Monitoring Mission team was taken to the town and shown two graves totaling two bodies per grave. The team saw eight spent cartridge casings for a 9mm Makarov pistol, a caliber now in use by both sides and a "plaque" which contained the names presumably of four of the victims and the initials of a fifth. The plaque read; "Died for Putin's lies", and was dated August 26th, 2014. The uncovered bodies had undergone some decomposition.

The team was not able to make a forensic assessment of the site, said the report.

Ukrainian military authorities have denied any connection to the sites. It should be stressed the graves were uncovered as a Ukrainian military unit was withdrawn in observance of the truce, and presumably that was how the graves were discovered.

The OESC had a role in brokering the latest truce agreement and so it has teams on the ground to observe the progress of the truce.

Meanwhile, Donetsk has been under sporadic shelling by Ukrainian military forces since last Wednesday. Ukrainian military units have been occupying Donetsk airport for weeks and have placed artillery units there, according to information supplied by the Voice of Sevastopol.

Tuesday

A rocket artillery fire attack was launched early Tuesday morning, hitting the Leninsky and Kuibyshevsky districts in the area of the TV tower. Later that afternoon, at around 1355 hrs a tube artillery attack was fired which hit near the outskirts of Makeyevka. The attack was launched from the village of Avdeyevka. Two residences were destroyed. That evening more artillery hit, this time near the Putilovsky district in Donetsk city.

Indications are at the time of the latest attack some Ukrainian units were withdrawing from the town of Marinka, west of Donetsk, to the west to Kurakhovo.

Further west a Ukrainian mortar unit near Kamenka fired mortars near Kumashatskoye, wounding one militiaman.

Infantry fights were recorded as well in and around Donetsk, especially to the north of the airport. One exchange was recorded near the village of Avdeyevka, apparently as a Ukrainian unit attempted to withdraw from the area.

In Lugansk, about 15 kilometers northwest of Lugansk city, fighting continued near the town of Schastye, where some Ukrainian military units had withdrawn after a previous failed attempt to take Lugansk by storm. The issue is the bridge over the North Donetsk River, which both side are trying to gain control of.

Militias admitted that on Tuesday their units suffered the heaviest losses of September, as they are trying to increase the distance between Ukrainian artillery and Donetsk city.

Ukrainian blogger Roman Burko said that the afternoon battle was costly to the militia, and also said that Ukrainian military units were trying to withdraw to the west when the battle took place. Burko said the force that attacked was company sized, about 100 effectives. No losses were recorded by the Ukrainians.

Wednesday

Artillery fire on Donetsk was sporadic, according to the militias, but later in the evening artillery strikes were under way.

Artillery strikes were recorded in the Petrovsky and Kirovsky, Leninsky and the Kuibyshevsky districts and near the village of Spartak. A late overnight rocket artillery strike in the Kuibyshevsky district reportedly killed two civilians and wounded four more.

Roman Burko posted on the internet that three electronic warfare vehicles were destroyed by artillery fire in the Petrovski district of Donetsk. Two of the vehicles were identified as the RP-377LA Lorandit radio direction finding vehicle, also used for jamming, and the R-330ZH Zhitel radio jamming vehicle. Both vehicles are made by Russia, and Burko claimed they were manned by Russian military. The artillery fire was said to come from militia 120mm mortar units, not Ukrainian artillery.

Northeast of Lugansk, with Ukrainian military units holding the town of Stanitsa Luganskaya, artillery strikes were launched at the train station in the village of Chernukhino in the Perevalskiy district.

Pro Russian militias in the town of Lomovatka, on the Donetsk-Lugansk border came under Ukrainian artillery fire. Militia counterbattery fire in the form of BM-21 Multiple Rocket Launchers (MRLs) and single rocket launchers was returned and hit near Debaltsevo. Militias unconfirmed reports are that nine pieces of military equipment were destroyed and 40 died.

Pro Russian militias report that a number of probes by Ukrainian military forces were driven back in and around Volnovakha and Starobeshevo. These towns are about 15 kilometers southeast of Donetsk, and form part of the line militias have been using to defend the area between Lugansk and Donetsk.

Artillery fire is being exchanged between the two sides near Yenakievo north of Donetsk city and the airport, was well as at Debaltsevo and Olkhovatka, which is halfway between Donetsk and Lugansk cities.

Thursday

Artillery strikes continued in Donetsk city, with artillery hitting Kirovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Petrovsky, Kievsky and Kalininsky districts. Artillery also hit the village of Yenakievo in the north.

In Lugansk, the town of Vesyolaya Gora --on the left bank of the North Donetsk River less than one kilometer from the bridge at Schastye -- came under Ukrainian artillery fire, while the Antratsitovsky district in the village of Faschevka further north in the evening was shelled by tanks and armored personnel carriers, reportedly by Ukrainian Army Territorial Defense Battalion "Rukh Oporu". This unit is stationed near the village Nikishino.

Pervomaysk, about 15 kilometers west of Lugansk near the Lugansk-Donetsk border, also came under Ukrainian Artillery fire from the villages of Popasnaya and Zolotoye.

In Donetsk, militias say they took control of at least part of the airport. The operation was originally intended to push Ukrainian military units back north and northwest.

Fighting has been reported in Peski, which is southwest of the Donetsk airport, at the airport and at Avdeyevka which is northeast of the Donetsk airport.

Roman Burko said that fighting took place last Thursday when pro Russian militias attacked a checkpoint. The incident took place near the village of Nikishyne which is about four kilometers southeast of Debaltsevo.

Militias claim they continued to slowly reduce the pockets of Ukrainian troops in the area.

Bradley Manning sues over denial of gender dysphoria treatment
The Guardian, the ACLU, and even the US government feels obliged to refer to Bradley as 'Chelsea' but I'm under no such obligation. Bradley is a biological male, and "gender dysphoria" is a made-up diagnosis ginned up as part of our society's current fetish towards the 57 different genders. "Testosterone poisoning" also is a foolish neologism, though I can understand how many progressive males would fear it...
I have gender dyspepsia, which is an acute case of the rectal clench when people natter on about "gender issues." If you have "gender issues" tell your Mom. The rest of the world has no obligation to be interested.
Chelsea Manning, the US army soldier who released hundreds of thousands of secret documents to WikiLeaks, has filed a lawsuit in a federal court that charges her military jailers with violating her constitutional rights by denying medical treatment for gender dysphoria.

The legal complaint, lodged with a US district court in Washington DC, accuses the army of repeatedly ignoring her pleas for appropriate treatment for her condition. It names as defendants: the secretary of defence Chuck Hagel, major general David Quantock of the army corrections command, and colonel Erica Nelson who commands the disciplinary barracks in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where Manning is held.

“Every day that goes by without appropriate treatment, [Manning] experiences escalating anxiety, distress and depression. She feels as though her body is being poisoned by testosterone,” the suit says.
Bradley is one mixed up man. In a more just world he'd be locked away in a secure facility and undergo appropriate psychiatric treatment.
Manning reminds me of Mike Penner, the Los Angeles sportswriter who "tried to fight being a woman" and decided to go for the sex change. He later killed himself, and his newspaper, the Los Angeles Times had an article sanctimoniously entitled in part, "Private Torment" It was such a waste because he would not come to terms with his gender and sought expensive help which in the end did nothing.
Lt Col Alayne Conway, an army spokeswoman, said that as a matter of policy the military did not comment on pending litigation.

Manning was first diagnosed as having gender dysphoria "formerly known as gender identity disorder" in May 2010, just days before she was arrested at the Forward Operating Base Hammer outside Baghdad where she was stationed as a US army intelligence analyst. She is now serving a 35-year sentence in military custody for crimes related to the massive WikiLeaks dump of state secrets.
Bradley is desperate both to obscure that little sentencing issue and keep himself in the news. The progressives are willing to use him the same way they've used many other mixed up people.
Last September she was again diagnosed with gender dysphoria "in her case, the innate sense of being female even though her sex at birth was male" by Dr Ellen Galloway, chief of the mental health division at the disciplinary barracks. Yet despite making numerous requests for treatment, none has been forthcoming.
They don't do hip replacements on demand, either. And be careful not to catch cancer in federal prison.
In July, the Associated Press reported that Hagel had given the green light to “rudimentary” treatment, but since then the only concession the military has made is to allow her to wear female underwear and sports bras. Meanwhile, she has not been allowed to express her female gender outwardly by growing her hair longer or through other forms of grooming customary for female prisoners.
Because she is still a he and will remain a he for quite a while yet...
She has also been denied the other pillars of gender dysphoria treatment, the lawsuit states, including specialist psychotherapy, hormone therapy and surgery to change her primary and/or secondary sex characteristics. The suit makes the chilling warning that “gender dysphoria intensifies over time. Incarcerated individuals, particularly male-to-female transsexuals like [Manning], are at a particularly high risk of engaging in self-harm including self-castration when treatment is withheld.”
We could leave a dull kitchen knife behind on his food tray...
Chase Strangio, a staff attorney with the ACLU which is representing Manning in the legal action, said in a statement that it had become clear that her treatment had been “governed not by doctors but by Washington officials and dictated not by medicine but by politics”. He added that “treating severe gender dysphoria with sports bras is like treating a gunshot wound with a Band-Aid”.
The Army is not obligated to "treat" this at all.
The ACLU argues that the withholding of treatment is a breach of clear rules for responding to gender issues such as Manning's set out by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
Who? Is that another progressive funded organization?
The lawsuit contains an account of Manning's personal struggle with her condition. “From a young age she experienced the persistent sense that she was "different". In school she was teased and called names such as "girly-boy", "faggy" and "queer" because she did not conform to expectations of how a boy should look and act.”

It was only in 2009, shortly before she was posted to Iraq, that she came to terms with being a transgender woman. She first made public her gender identity the day after she was sentenced in August 2013. Through her lawyer David Coombs she told NBC television: “I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female.”
Whatever you are in your head, Bradley, you're a biological male and that's how the Army should treat you until you're released. Then we'll see how good your current "friends" are...

#3  So Bradley /(slash) Chelsea Manning hasn't had his (slash) her sex change operation yet... and has gender dysphoria ....hmmm...

gender dysphoria
noun
A persistent unease with having the physical characteristics of one's gender, accompanied by strong identification with the opposite gender and a desire to live as or to become a member of the opposite gender.

In July, Hagel had given the green light to “rudimentary” treatment...

Sounds to me like Hagel was hinting Manning should be assigned with prison kitchen duties...
