Northeastern regional coordinator regional Mohammed Birik says the process of training the police reservists has been concluded and the officers are properly equipped.

And in efforts to enhance cohesion among security agents and local communities, authorities in the area have launched sporting activities in the frontier counties of Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir as a way of building trust among the two groups.

Erdogan blasts presenter for asking about peaceful protests in Turkey
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
on Saturday blasted television news anchor Fatih Portakal over his questioning of whether it was possible to hold a peaceful protest in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
without fear of the government, Ahval News quoted independent news site T24.

"Some morally deficient person is calling people to take to the streets. What a low life. The judiciary will respond to this," Erdogan said, in an apparent reference to Portakal. ’"What are you doing? Is this Gay Paree? Everyone got their lesson during the Gezi Park protests. And in the July 15 [2016 coup attempt]. They will pay a heavy price for this."

Fox TV news anchor Portakal last week said that people are afraid to take to the streets to protest, while criticising Ankara’s response to the ongoing Yellow Vests protests in La Belle France, labelling the police intervention as heavy-handed. Erdogan has said that the ongoing "yellow vests" protest movement reveals Europe’s failure in democracy, human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
and freedom.

’"Do you think we can do it? How many people will be able to take the streets without fear? For the sake of God, can you tell me how many people would demonstrate? They are trying to discourage social opposition and keep it under pressure. It is a most natural right, but cannot be exercised. Whether it’s La Belle France or Turkey, it doesn’t really matter all that much,’" Portakal said on Fox TV.

Turkey says would work with Syria's Assad if he won 'democratic election'
[PRESSTV] Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu says the Ankara government would consider working with Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
if he won a democratic and credible election.
Say as democratic and credible as Erdogan's...
The Ottoman Turkish foreign minister made the remarks while addressing the 18th edition of Doha Forum on Sunday.

Asked whether The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

would consider working with Assad, Cavusoglu said there must first be an election in Syria and "if it is a democratic and credible one, then everybody should consider that [working with Assad]."

"It has to be very credible, transparent, democratic and fair elections. At the end, Syrian people should decide who is going to rule the country after the elections," Cavusoglu added.

He further noted that the constitution for Syria should be drafted by the people of their own country.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Cavusoglu said he believed US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
was considering a policy of leaving Syria.

Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad demanded on November 4 that "occupation" forces from Turkey must leave, emphasizing that the troops must depart the territories of his conflict-plagued Arab country in order for security and stability to be restored there.

Jirga to hold talks with miscreants who burned down Diamer schools
[DAWN] A 30-member jirga is in Diamer to negotiate with the people responsible for the burning of more than a dozen schools ‐ half of which were girls-only centres ‐ in August this year.

The jirga is working towards getting the fighters to surrender, said Faizullah Faraq, the spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, on Sunday.

An initial report suggested that miscreants carried out the attacks in an organised manner, first vandalising the buildings and then setting them ablaze.

It also said that important evidence uncovered during the investigation suggested involvement by foreigners and some local controllers.

An operation was subsequently launched in the area to track down and arrest the culprits. A total of 40 people have been incarcerated

According to Faraq, the GB government has given the jirga the mandate to conduct these talks, which are being held up in the mountains, where these bully boyz live with their families.

Faraq said that the government does not want to use force with these murderous Moslems as their wives and children are also living with them in the mountains.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu warns Hamas after deadly West Bank attacks
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday he had issued a warning to Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, after recent deadly attacks in the occupied West Bank, including two shootings claimed by the Paleostinian faction.

Netanyahu referred to a controversial Gazoo ceasefire in November that ended the worst escalation between Israel and Hamas since a 2014 war.

"I conveyed a clear message to Hamas - we won’t accept a situation of a truce in Gazoo and terror in Judea and Samaria," Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting, using the biblical name for the West Bank, as is Israel’s official policy.

"We will exact a high price over them," he said of the attacks.

Hamas runs the Gazoo Strip but also has a presence in the West Bank.

Netanyahu’s comments came after two soldiers were rubbed out at a central West Bank bus station near a settlement on Thursday.

On the same day, a baby prematurely delivered after his mother was shot and maimed in a separate attack nearby on December 9 also died.

Hamas grabbed credit for the December 9 shooting and another in the West Bank on October 7 that killed two Israelis.

The two Paleostinians behind those attacks were rubbed out by Israeli forces during arrest raids last week, Israeli officials said.

Israel’s security forces say they have also tossed in the calaboose

at least 37 Hamas operatives in connection with recent violence.

The attacks came after a deal to restore relative calm to the Gazoo Strip that included Israel enabling Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
to bring fuel and tens of millions of dollars to the besieged territory for salaries.

Hardline Israeli politicians opposed the Gazoo agreement and have also criticized Netanyahu over the recent West Bank violence.

On Sunday, hundreds of settlers protested outside Netanyahu’s office in Jerusalem to call on the government to increase security measures as well as settlement construction.

Those moves would make Paleostinian turbans understand that "there’s no point to terror and hope in it," said Hananel Dorani, chairman of settler group the Yesha council.

Participating in the protest were a number of ministers, including Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked of the far-right Jewish Home.

A ministerial committee headed by Shaked later gave initial approval to a bill that would help legalize settlement homes built on state land without government approval.

"The snuffies will know that we’re here to stay," she said following the vote. "We won’t be deterred by attacks."

On Thursday, Shaked said that Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit had also approved of a way to help legalize some 2,000 West Bank homes considered illegal by Israel as they are located on privately owned Paleostinian land.

Haniyeh hails West Bank's resistance against Zionist enemy
[PRESSTV] Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, leader, Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
, has commended the West Bank for its "resistance" in the face of Israeli occupation, as thousands of Paleostinians marched in the Gazoo Strip to express their support for the movement on its 31st anniversary.

"We place our hopes in the West Bank, which is the main area where events are occurring and the most appropriate area to resolve the conflict with our Zionist enemy," Haniyeh told the massive crowd, who waived green Hamas flags on Sunday.

"The West Bank has shaken and stood up with glory, strength and skill, as if it wanted to say to our people on the occasion of this glorious anniversary that it was with the resistance, in total harmony."

Also present during the celebrations were Hamas’ armed wing, the Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, which showcased various military vehicles and weapons.

Haniyeh affirmed that al-Qassam Brigades had succeeded in obtaining accurate information about the recent Israeli operation that was carried out by Israeli special forces in Khan Younis, describing the security assets it had obtained as priceless and useful in managing "the brain warfare" against the occupation in the next stage.

Undercover Israeli special forces infiltrated into the territory in a civilian car near Khan Yunis, opening fire and killing local commander Noor Baraka when they were discovered.

The unit was chased by Hamas fighters who killed a ranking Israeli officer. Israel then launched dozens of Arclight airstrikes on Gazoo, drawing Hamas retaliation. During a two-day flare-up, more than 500 rockets were fired at Israel, forcing Tel Aviv to accept a hasty declaration of a ceasefire.

Netanyahu: I won’t wait for the Palestinians to make peace with Arab world
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tells a group of Israeli envoys serving in Africa, Asia and Latin America that Israel is pushing ahead with forging ties with the Arab world despite moribund efforts to reach peace with the Paleostinians.

"I won’t suspend efforts to reach peace with the Arab world until the Paleostinians make peace with us. I won’t do it," he says, describing a process of "normalization" with the region.

"We are going to the [Arab world] and are not subject to the whims of the Paleostinians," he says, repeating hopes that ties with the Arab world will open up new opportunities to reach a deal with the Paleostinians.

He also says Israeli bilateral trade with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's colony in Asia Minor....
is on the rise, despite diplomatic tensions between the two former allies.

Destroying Hezbollah’s tunnels: an operation years in the making
Long. Here are the opening paragraphs to help you decide if you need to know the rest, dear Reader. With photos.
[Ynet] Four years of intense intelligence gathering led in early December to the launch of an operation to uncover and destroy Hezbollah's tunnels on the Lebanese border. From top secret discussions kept from half the General Staff to combat engineering soldiers who didn't even know what they were training for—this is how Operation Northern Shield came to be.

During its covert construction, the IDF's high command post in the Kirya base in Tel Aviv—also known as "the pit"—still had a secret code name. But last week, when it was opened for the first time to manage Operation Northern Shield, it got its permanent name: "Fort Zion."

The planning and construction of the new "pit" lasted ten years. It's a giant space, several dozen feet underground, with several floors. The Operations Division's personnel sit in areas separated from one another by glass walls, with each being used for a different control center. Everyone can see everyone. Above this is an office floor, which is used by the IDF's top brass, such as the IDF chief, the head of the Operations Directorate, the head of the Operations Division who commands over the "pit," and others. The communications and control technologies installed there are state-of-the-art. The opening of the new "pit" was timed to coincide with the launch of the operation to expose Hezbollah tunnels on the Lebanese border.

The decision to open "the pit" under the command of the IDF chief is reserved for big operations, usually beyond the state's borders, that entail high risk of escalation leading to war. And indeed, when Operation Northern Shield was announced, the level of alert was raised not just in the Northern Command, but in the entire General Staff, including preparations for immediate deployment of the army's quick-response units: The Commando Brigade, which was sent to the north last week; Special Forces units; and the Israel Air Force (IAF).

In such a situation, at least based on past experience, dozens of IAF fighter jets stand ready at the different air bases. The situation assessment on the eve of the operation may have determined there was a low chance of escalation, but the operations area on the northern border—Syria and Lebanon—is so unstable that any situation assessment is almost considered an educated guess.

It's enough for a series of military operations—which started with a strike in Syria in early December, which was attributed to Israel, and continued with the massive IDF presence on the Lebanese border and the discovery of Hezbollah's tunnels—to be misconstrued, for the other side to feel threatened. This is why there has been criticism, coming from inside the IDF as well, of the boastful rhetoric used by the political echelon weeks before the operation and upon its launch, which could be seen on the other side as preparing public opinion in Israel for war.

Mixed reports on whether Iranian general fatally shot himself by accident
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iranian news outlets have released mixed reports on whether or not an Iranian general allegedly shot himself in the head by accident while cleaning his pistol.

According to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, the website of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is reporting that Gen. Ghodratollah Mansouri, who fought in Syria and Iraq, has allegedly accidentally killed himself while cleaning a gun.

The report added that Mansouri was veteran of the 1980s Iran-Iraq war and a "defender of the shrine," a reference to Iranians who fight against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

Since 2014, Mansouri was a regional commander of the Guard’s ground forces in the northeastern city of Mashhad, some 900 kilometers east of the capital Tehran.

Son-in-law of Iran president faces nepotism claims
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The appointment of President Hassan Rouhani’s son-in-law as head of Iran’s geological survey has renewed accusations of nepotism and led on Sunday to the resignation of a bigwig, according to conservative media.

The appointment of Kambiz Mehdizadeh, in his early thirties and reportedly married to Rouhani’s daughter in a low-key wedding this August, was widely criticised by Iranians on social media.

It also triggered the resignation of Jafar Sargheyni, head of the mining section in the industries ministry, who criticised "unprofessional appointments" without directly naming Mehdizadeh, the conservative Tasnim news agency reported.

Mehdizadeh is a PhD student in petroleum engineering, who has also served as an advisor to Iran’s oil ministry, taekwando federation and national youth organization, Tasnim said.

Iranians on social media renewed criticism of nepotism that had spread last year with the hashtag "#good-genes" -- a reference to the son of a prominent reformist politician who attributed his business success to inheriting "good genes" from his parents.

"I had no idea even sons-in-law could inherit #good_genes!," wrote one Twitter user on Sunday in reference to Mehdizadeh’s appointment.

Another online campaign this summer called on bigwigs to come clean about the privileges their children enjoy, particularly those studying in the United States and other Western countries.

The "#Where_is_your_kid" campaign pressured several government figures to respond, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who said his children had returned to Iran after studying abroad.

Iranian activist sentenced to 16 years in prison: I have no hope in judiciary
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Political prisoner and lawyer, Narges Mohammadi, sent a letter to Iran’s attorney general, saying that she is not getting her right to receiving medical care and treatment in prison.

In 2015, the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Iran had sentenced Mohammadi to 16 years in prison for "belonging to a campaign protesting the death penalty
, colluding against national security, and spreading propaganda against the regime."

In an interview with the Defenders of Human Rights Center, Mohammadi revealed that her request to be seen by a doctor had been ignored several times, with no clear reason by the Iranian officials.

In her last letter, Mohammadi also stated that she suffers from lung disease, gynecological problems and as well as issues with her gallbladder. The prison’s doctors asserted that she should be treated outside of the prison.

"I have no hope in my country’s judiciary; all I ask of Tehran’s attorney general is to provide me the right conditions so that I can receive the necessary treatment and see specialized doctors," she said.

Narges often sends letters from her prison cell to Iranian officials since she was imprisoned in 2015. She usually criticizes security and defense governmental entities and their control over the country’s judiciary.

YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT
One Mohammadi’s most famous letters sent from her prison cell said: "I do not have a real and clear image of my twins, anymore."

She had not seen them for three years. In another letter she sent months ago to president Rouhani, she said: "The people did not vote to support the regime, but rather to apply the law and fulfill civil society activists’ demands in the country."

The Defenders of Human Rights Center website published Narges Mohammadi’s last letter, a few days after announcing the death of political activist Wahid Sayadi Nassiri in the central prison in Qom, who died of a hunger strike that he began last October.

She was heavily involved with the Defenders of Human Rights Center in Iran headed by Shirin Ebadi, the first Iranian and first Moslem woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize.

In September 2016, the Tehran Court of Appeals sentenced her to 16 years in prison, 10 of which could not be appealed.

She was accused of "propaganda against the state," "assembly and collusion against national security" and "membership in the [now banned] Defenders of Human Rights Center."

"All the victims need a safe haven until ISIS is brought to the international courts," the 25-year-old Iraqi said at an international conference in Doha, using an Arabic acronym for the jihadist group.

Murad also renewed calls for Iraq and other countries to investigate the fate of members of her Yazidi minority kidnapped by IS.

Murad was jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo earlier this month with Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege for her work highlighting the plight of Iraq's Yazidis.

Like thousands of other Yazidi women and girls, Murad was kidnapped by IS in 2014 as the jihadists overran the minority's stronghold of Sinjar in northern Iraq, close to the border with Syria.

They were held captive, tortured, raped and sold as sex slaves by IS.

Attending the Doha Forum, Murad -- the first Iraqi to receive the Nobel prize -- said on Sunday that she dreams of returning home.

"I dream about returning to Sinjar and living a noble life, opening a beauty salon as a way to help Yazidi women," she said.

More than 3,000 Yazidi women and kiddies are still missing, probably still held captive, according to Murad.

IS captured large swathes of Iraq and neighbouring Syria in 2014, proclaiming a "caliphate" in land it controlled.

The jihadists have since lost most of their territory to offensives by multiple forces in both countries, retreating to desert holdouts.
