Dollar Coins Would Depict Ex-Presidents
I imagine that most of you have seen this news already, however, in my opinion, it would be a mistake to design these coins to be functional. That is, about quarter-sized, made of pot metal, and able to be used in machines.

These presidential dollar coins should be as large and as well made as the Eisenhower dollar. They should not be made for utility, they should be made for national pride. As such, they should be as finely engraved and collectible in their way as is the holographic Canadian Maple Leaf gold piece.

In fact, right now, silver is about $8.50/ounce. These coins could be offered as silver commemoratives. So as not to drive the cost of silver through the roof by offering these coins as $10 pieces, they should be valued at $50. If they were artistic enough, truly beautiful laser-enscribed silver pieces, many people would pay $1900 for a complete set, with more than $1520 profit per set to the government.

They could be packaged in protective plastic with a high-tech seal for authenticity and to preserve their value as proof coins, for a somewhat higher price. The package could also contain biographical and historical data for each president.

The pure-silver $50 coins could be offered at the same time as the $1 coins, so everybody could afford a complete set and see what they look like.

Importantly, by act of congress, additional presidents could be added to the series.

#1  This is a bad idea.

I'd hate to even think about what picture they'd have to use to accurately depict Bubba. :-(

Policy Review: Iraq Is Not Vietnam By Frederick W. Kagan

#1  The USA's withdrawal from Vietnam, to include its 1975 refusal to militarily or economically aid South Vietnam after renewed North Vietnamese mil threat, is generally akin to a victorious army/winner voluntarily leave the battlefield and proclaiming the opposition as "winner" and its victory a per se "defeat". ONLY TWO THINGS WILL GET RID OF AMERICA FROM IRAQ AND THE MIDDLE EAST -NEGATIVE POLITICAL WILL + ANTI-USA [LIMITED] NUKE WAR, WHICH BASICALLY MEANS THE FORMER VV THE COMMIE CLINTONS AND "CREEPING/GRADUAL" DOMESTIC SOCIALISM, e.g. KATRINA-GATE ...............and now KIDDIE SOCIALISM [Teacher-Student Sex]!?

#2  But guys, Howard Dean says it is.

#3  Iraq isn't Vietnam, but that doesn't stop the anti-American MSM and their fellow-travelers the Donks from trying to make it another Vietnam.

Guess there aren't enough dead brown people to suit them yet. >:-(

#4  I clicked on his name to find out whether he had written a full book about our Vietnam capitulation. I was interested in reading more about how the dominos actually fell in VN, Laos and Cambodia upt present day. Anyway I started scrolling through and found this old selection from John Bolton circa 2000.

I really like John Bolton.
