A Bahraini driver and his Filipina girlfriend each received a month's prison sentence for having sex in a public place. The 29-year-old from Ma'ameer was handed an additional month's sentence for illegally entering his girlfriend's house without the permission of her sponsor, and having sex with her there. The housemaid, aged 25, also received another month's sentence for assisting him to enter the house without her sponsor's knowledge and for an illegitimate purpose.
The sponsor, a good and wealthy Bahraini, was held harmless of course.
The verdict was delivered at the Lower Criminal Court on January 25 and the couple had been in police custody since January 18.
"I met the Filipina housemaid about a year ago and since that time we became good friends and started going out together almost every week," the Bahraini driver of a gas cylinder supply company said in his police statement. "I had sex with her in a proper way with her consent at midnight most of the times.
"She used to open the door of the house for me and take me to her bedroom where we used to have sex together while her sponsor was sleeping. Twice I had sex with her in the morning time because there was no one in the house.
"Many times I had sex with her near the beach area in my car and I also took her many times to hotels and had sex with her after booking a room for us there."
Strapping young lad and a healthy young woman, what's the prob --- oh, right this is Bahrain.
The Bahraini said he met the Filipina about a year ago when he delivered a gas cylinder to her sponsor's house and later asked her out.
"I thought you were the lady of the house!"
"I thought you were the milkman!"
On January 18 they were arrested by police patrol who caught them "hugging and kissing" in the 29-year-old's car, which was parked near the beach at Al Halat in Muharraq. "I admit I made a mistake and I also used to give her BD2 sometimes," added the driver.
The housemaid in her statement said she was "simply chatting" when the police car arrived and arrested them and she did not have sex with her boyfriend that night.

People, this is a public indecency charge, nothing more. You can get arrest in the US or UK if cops walk up on you in a public place having sex. Also, they were given a couple of months in jail for it : NO beheading, flogging, stoning, amputation, etc which are the norms in the Muslim world. Also, if the woman's employer wanted to be nasty about it, the man could have been charged with burglary since he did NOT have the homeowner's permission to be in the house.
Everyone should be overjoyed that there is one Arab Muslim country that is operating on 1950s Western morality, that puts Bahrain like 13 centuries ahead of the rest of the Arabs.
Patna A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Patna High Court against Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai for marrying trees to overcome astrological differences with her fiancé Abhishek Bachchan. Lawyer Shruti Singh, who filed the PIL earlier this week, says the ritual promotes untouchability. "I filed a PIL to stop such practices as reportedly conducted by actor Amitabh Bachchan for his future daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai. It is in violation of Article 17 of the Constitution, which prohibits untouchability. It also violates fundamental human rights," said Shruti.
Aishwarya is a Manglik (astrologically Mars-bearing), which is believed to have negative consequences for her impending marriage. The actress is said to have married a peepal tree at Benaras, a banana tree at a Bangalore temple and a god's idol in Ayodhya. According to Shruti, the fact that Aishwarya had to marry the trees and the idol before marrying Abhishek, who is a non-Manglik, amounts to untouchability. "The rituals performed by Aishwarya, Amitabh and Abhishek would only promote superstitions and blind faith among common people," Shruti, who is also a women's rights activist said.
The activist has also demanded a public apology from the Bachchan family for asking Aishwarya to enter into such false marriages.

Look, cut the girl some slack. All she is doing by marrying the trees is insuring that she gets plenty of wood whenever she wants it : just hope she stuck to one side of the evergreen/deciduous schism -- that can get ugly.
