-Lurid Crime Tales-
Obama administration won't release IRS targeting documents
[THEHILL] The B.O. regime is refusing to publicly release more than 500 documents on the IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
's targeting of Tea Party groups.

Twenty months after the IRS scandal broke, there are still many unanswered questions about who was spearheading the agency's scrutiny of conservative-leaning organizations.

The Hill sought access to government documents that might provide a glimpse of the decision-making through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

The Hill asked for 2013 emails and other correspondence between the IRS and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). The request specifically sought emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner
...the former head of the IRS Exempt Unit. She is a past president of the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws and a member of the Massachussetts bar. She was held in contempt of Congress for her role in the IRS targeting of regime political enemies and refusing to testify. The dog ate her computer's hard drive with all her emails on it...
and Treasury officials, including Secretary Jack Lew, while the inspector general was working on its explosive May 2013 report that the IRS used "inappropriate criteria" to review the political activities of tax-exempt groups.

TIGTA opted not to release any of the 512 documents covered by the request, citing various exemptions in the law. The Hill recently appealed the FOIA decision, but TIGTA denied the appeal. TIGTA also declined to comment for this article.

Will anyone be charged?

In its written response to The Hill, TIGTA cited FOIA exemptions ranging from interagency communication to personal privacy. It also claimed it cannot release relevant documents "when interference with the law enforcement proceedings can be reasonably expected."

Yet, congressional Republicans say there is no evidence of any prosecution in the works, and media outlets have indicated that the Department of Justice and the FBI have already determined that no charges will be filed.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) notes that eight months after Lerner was held in contempt of Congress for not testifying at two hearings, the matter has not yet been referred to a grand jury. The contempt citation is in the hands of Ronald Machen, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who was appointed by President B.O..

#5  Fire every government employee at the IRS, and deny them retirement, retroactive to 2010. Watch them scream. Declare it's due to politicization of the agency, and that civil service rules don't apply. Watch all of Washington explode as heads do. Repeat with each politicized agency. See what happens. I think there are about 20 million people that would back Congress on this.

NY assemblyman wants cigarette-like labels on soft drinks
[SYRACUSE] A New York State assemblyman wants to label soda and other sugary drinks with cigarette-like health warnings.

Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz (D-Bronx) has introduced a "Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act", according to the New York Post. The act would require vendors to put labels on all sugary drinks that read: "SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar contributes to obesity, diabetes and tooth decay."

Rep. Cummings: People 'Come to Government To Feed Their Souls'
[CNSNEWS] Rep. Elijah Cummings

(D‐Md.) says, "so many people come to government knowing that they are not going to make the kind of money they would make in the private sector but they come to government to feed their souls."

Cummings was speaking in Washington D.C. at the Legislative Conference of the National Treasury Employees Union on February 4th when he made the comments.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Obama: According to Iran's Supreme Leader, "It Would Be Contrary To Their Faith To Obtain A Nuclear Weapon"
[REALCLEARPOLITICS] PRESIDENT OBAMA: The issues now are sufficiently narrowed and sufficiently clarified where we're at a point where they need to make a decision. We are presenting to them in a unified fashion, the P5+1 supported by a coalition of countries around the world are presenting to them a deal that allows them to have peaceful nuclear power but gives us the absolute assurance that is verifiable that they are not pursuing a nuclear weapon.

And if in fact what they claim is true, which is they have no aspiration to get a nuclear weapon, that in fact, according to their Supreme Leader, it would be contrary to their faith to obtain a nuclear weapon, if that is true, there should be the possibility of getting a deal. They should be able to get to yes. But we don't know if that's going to happen.

#3  no its not against their faith to persecute the people of the book

there are a number of references to people of the book in the koran

some, such as 3:199 show the people of the book in a positive way, others such as 3:110 show the people of the book in a negative way

because of these verses, Sharia allows Jews and Christians (and maybe others) to live in Islamic lands as protected people (dhimmi) if they (the Jews and Christians)pay the dhimmi tax and act as if they were inferior - any violations of these and the Jews and Christians may be killed, made into slaves, etc.

Government
Government is poised to withdraw longstanding warnings about cholesterol
[WASHINGTONPOST] The nation's top nutrition advisory panel has decided to drop its caution about eating cholesterol-laden food, a move that could undo almost 40 years of government warnings about its consumption.
Butter, anyone?
The group's finding that cholesterol in the diet need no longer be considered a "nutrient of concern" stands in contrast to the committee's findings five years ago, the last time it convened. During those proceedings, as in previous years, the panel deemed the issue of "excess dietary cholesterol" a public health concern.

The new view on cholesterol in the diet does not reverse warnings about high levels of "bad" cholesterol in the blood, which have been linked to heart disease. Moreover, some experts warned that people with particular health problems, such as diabetes, should continue to avoid cholesterol-rich diets.

But the finding, which may offer a measure of relief to breakfast diners who prefer eggs, follows an evolution of thinking among many nutritionists who now believe that for a healthy adult cholesterol intake may not significantly affect the level of cholesterol in the blood or increase the risk of heart disease. The greater danger, according to this line of thought, lies in foods heavy with trans fats and saturated fats.
Posted by: Fred || 02/11/2015 00:00 || Comments || Link || [4 views] Top|| File under:

#1  The whole sordid business of the cholesterol hysteria has been based on studies which showed correlation but not causality.

The result?

-ag subsidy policy and government telling people to eat lots of grain after paying farmers to grow it

-pharmaceutical industry taking advantage of the above to sell statin drugs.

The reality is that for the most part heart disease and sclerotic disease is genetic in nature. If any food can be said to be a problem it is refined grain products. This poses a problem for politicians who have promised farmers subsidies and government marketing in exchange for votes and contributions. It also smashes the narrative of the certain sort of person who believes she can control her health completely by diet.

In 1975 Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for automobiles was established. Your call will cost a bit more, but you'll go further on a gallon of gas.

In the 1980's ethanol from corn was introduced. It will cost a bit more, but it will cut down on the harmful effects of CO2 and help free us from Middle Eastern oil dependence.

In the 1980's gasoline without ethanol will still be available, but it will cost a bit more....

#6  We pay about 15-20 cents more for the 'non-food item' unleaded fuel. We also get about 3-4 MPG better gas mileage in doing so. At roughly .01/mile in savings at today's pricing, it pays for itself and then some.

At $3.50 per gallon, it's even more in savings.

Rauner Strikes Down Forced Unionism
[FREEBEACON] Bruce Rauner (R.), Illinois' newly elected governor, signed an executive order ending mandatory public sector union dues on Monday.

As a result of Rauner's action, public sector workers will no longer be forced to join government unions, such as the politically powerful American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU), as a condition of employment.

"An employee who is forced to pay unfair share dues is being forced to fund political activity with which they disagree. That is a clear violation of First Amendment rights--and something that, as governor, I am duty-bound to correct," Rauner said in a blurb.

The judiciary has dealt setbacks to Illinois' mandatory dues policies in recent years.

Rod Y'gotta pay to play! Blagojevich
Who was tried and eventually convicted on federal corruption charges that he tried to sell or trade Obama's old U.S. Senate seat.
, the state's imprisoned former governor, signed an executive order in 2003 forcing home healthcare workers, many of whom were caring for disabled relatives, to pay union dues. Public sector unions, who were among the top contributors to Blagojevich's campaign, added millions to their coffers as a result of the order.

Where the Champ picked up his Christian Crusades meme.
[Breitbart] In February 2008, while participating in the William G. Anderson Slavery to Freedom lecture series at Michigan State University, then still candidate Barack Obama'€™s pastor and spiritual advisor, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., gave a speech on religious arrogance, in the form of fundamentalism, causing the Christian Crusades and Islamic Jihad.

Rev. Wright said all religious fundamentalist think, '€œDo you see some people who are infidels? They are to be killed. We can not live together. You have Jihad, Crusades. You must be killed.'€

Wright continued, '€œWhen you have that kind of Euro-centric ignorance, you'€™re not only superior but you start demonizing others who are different,'€ adding, until you have '€œthe Christian Crusades. Just kill all the Muslim infidels.'€
Bravo! Someone did their research and connected the dots.
