I guess piecing together a French/Spanish/American/Indian/Free Black army and then leading them to victory over crack British forces and saving the City of New Orleans doesn't get much respect these days. IIRC, Jackson's army was responsible for the most lop-sided American victory on U.S. Soil.

IIRC it could have been close, but a detachment of British crossed the river and were put so far off target it effectively took them out of the fight. It was then a British push towards the center where many veterans of the war vs. Napoleon met their fate.
These were crack troops who didn't run, but were used to European battlefields and were already exhausted by marching through swampy land and various sleep deprivation harassments.
A goodly portion of the American forces were volunteers and irregulars. Legit win.

I wasn't aware that there was anything wrong with the 20 dollar bill but, since there apparently is, put Palin on it...and watch the heads explode!

So they decide to put out a 'Tubman' note, but there's too many Jacksons in circulation worldwide. So they decide to make up a new denomination, say the $15 dollar bill. As a further stroke of genius, they want to make it half size to cut down on production costs. That also means no change machine in the world will take it.
So when you go down to the post office to get a $35 dollar postage stamp, you'll get a 'Tubman' in change from your fifty.

A lot of Native Americans have an understandable if misguided issue with Andrew Jackson. I say put Ronald Reagan on the Twenty he earned it by winning the Cold War.

With almost every country, state/province and city in the world trying to spend their way to prosperity.... makes me wonder what will happen when the whole world realizes it is in debt up to its eyeballs and no way to get out from under it and confidence in the governments and financial institutions completely fail.

Illinois industry MUST PAY! Toll road increases all around. Visit and travel visa's. Nationalization and seizure of farms over 150 acres. Think people, THINK !

Moody’s has now downgraded the city of Chicago’s bonds to a rating of Slightly Less Valuable Than Gum Wrappers. (From the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune.)
Heading towards Detroit realm. Too many grifters and takers sucking off the public teet. Too many crooked politicians--but then I repeat myself.

coinciding with the formal announcement of the Barack Obama Honey Bucket and Presidential Library being built there (on public property) it all makes sense.....
