Man shot dead for 'stealing' goat in Islamabad
[NATION.PK] A man has been shot dead for his alleged involvement, in stealing a goat in the Golra area of Islamabad. Golra police SHO Chudare Aslam said that Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Rawalpindi, while returning from Shah Allah Data Darbar with his family stole a goat and ran away in a van. Hussain was chased by the owner, warning him to leave the animal. Hussain ignored the warning and went ahead, prompting the owner to open fire on him. A bullet hit Hussain in the head and he died on the spot. On a complaint of the family, the police have registered a case; however, no arrest was made as the assailant had escaped the scene.

#1  Then one day in desperation
A young man breaks away
He buys a van, steals a goat
Lays his hand upon its coat
And his Allah cries

And a crowd gathers 'round the horny Hussein
Shot dead on the spot, right smack in the brain...

This Week In Guns, August 8th, 2015

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

Continuing on the gun parts theme from last week, as I was perusing the Apex Gun Parts website, I saw an entry for a single point tactical sling adapator for the AK. In fact, I found three of them, ranging in price from USD $14.95 and up. The link is to an item which is out of stock.

Rather than part with around USD $20 and up with shipping, I made one. All these adapters are made to be sandwiched between the rear of the receiver and the pistol grip. Now, as for using a single point tactical sling, as it was explained to me, it isn't useful if all you want to do is to plink paper targets, but quite useful if you want to use your rifle for fighting. Some tactical slings have knobs that are attachable to the rails, while others have clips. The AK tactical adapter can be used for both.

The AR, with all the attachments and rails, is a good rifle to have if you want to add stuff, and that is why this adaptor for the AK was made. A drawing is included in the foto gallery along with dimensions for the device. The material used was a piece of scrap 14 gauge low carbon steel.

I am on the Facebook feed of a III Percenters Club, one of several on Facebook. The proprietor linked to a guy, I gotta believe is from Massachusetts who said the following (with respect to the Theater shooting this week):

Seriously. Why are gun owners allowed to live?
Why are trash that can only feel safe when they are threatening to kill everyone around them allowed to exist? The only reasonable thing to do is to contact law enforcement whenever you see a gun owner and report them as the deadly threat the my (sic) clearly are.

And (with respect to the shooting at a Mississippi National Guard base):

Right wing gun owning sociopaths (triple redundant) demonstrate the very reason they need to be prosecuted and put to death.

And (in response to the realization that childhood friend can be unfriendly later in life):

That's why we need to organize and go on the attack. We need to report every gunner and get THEIR accounts banned. If we coordinate, it can be done.

Man, that guy really hates guns and gun owners.

Ordinarily, I'd suggest that he and his fellow travelers force their local legislators into easing up on the gun law, just to see what the fuss is all about.

I don't because they are already winning with such things as a Texas senator proposing even more nationwide gun laws.

Finally, from Mason Dixon Tactical (via Western Rifle Shooters Association), some advice on which rifles are the most useful, including the rifle "with the shoulder thing that goes up."

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Prices for pistol ammunition were unchanged while prices for rifle ammunition were mostly unchanged.

Prices for used pistols were mixed, while prices for used rifles were higher across the board.

#1  From an e-mail from an old friend:

In 1865 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States.

In 1881 a left wing radical Democrat shot James Garfield, President of the United States - who later died from the wound.

In 1963 a radical left wing socialist shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States.

In 1975 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at Gerald Ford, President of the United States.

In 1983 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan, President of the United States.

In 1984 James Hubert, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 22 people in a McDonalds restaurant.

In 1986 Patrick Sherrill, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office.

In 1990 James Pough, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 10 people at a GMAC office.

In 1991 George Hennard, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 23 people in a Luby's cafeteria in Killeen , TX.

In 1995 James Daniel Simpson, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.

In 1999 Larry Asbrook, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 8 people at a church service.

In 2001 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at the White House in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush, President of the US ...

In 2003 Douglas Williams, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people at a Lockheed Martin plant.

In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung - Hui Cho, shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech.

In 2010 a mentally ill registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner, shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 others.

In 2011 a registered Democrat named James Holmes, went into a movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.

In 2012 Andrew Engeldinger, a disgruntled Democrat, shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis.

In 2013 a registered Democrat named Adam Lanza, shot and killed 26 people in a school in Newtown , CT.

As recently as Sept 2013, an angry Democrat shot 12 at a Navy ship yard.

Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats and guns.

Not one NRA member, Tea Party member, or Republican conservative was involved in any of these shootings and murders.

SOLUTION: It should be illegal for Democrats to own guns.

China-Japan-Koreas
Kim o'clock? North Korea to set up new time zone
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] North Korea said Friday it will establish its own time zone next week by pulling back its current standard time by 30 minutes.
Maybe by 38 minutes. Or 47. Just not the same referent as anybody else has.
Local time in North and South Korea and Japan is the same - nine hours ahead of GMT. It was set during Japan's rule over what was single Korea from 1910 to 1945.

The establishment of "Pyongyang time" is meant to root out the legacy of the Japanese colonial period, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said. It said the new time zone will take effect Aug. 15 - the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese rule at the end of World War II.

"The wicked Japanese imperialists committed such unpardonable crimes as depriving Korea of even its standard time while mercilessly trampling down its land with 5,000-year-long history and culture and pursuing the unheard-of policy of obliterating the Korean nation," the KCNA dispatch said.

The North's move appears to be aimed at bolstering the leadership of young leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
with anti-Japan, nationalistic sentiments, said Yang Moo-jin, a professor at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul. Kim took power upon the death of his dictator father, Kim Jong Il, in late 2011.

#4  Pyongyong is at approximate longitude of 126 deg east longitude. The sun transits 15 deg/hour, so Pyongyong is 126/15 = 8.4 hours or 8h 24min east of Imperial Pig Greenwich time. That means that they could run Pyongyong pretty close to mean solar time, like towns used to do before the railroads came. Sooooo, subtract 36 min from nine hours E of Greenwich and you have stepped back into the 18th and 19th centuries. Geniuses.

Economy
Since 2007: 1.4 Million Manufacturing Jobs Lost; 1.4 Million Waiter/Bartender Jobs Gained
h/t Instapundit
Who says America has a jobs problem? As the chart below shows, the "New Economy" may pay abysmally, but at least it promises a little to everyone (or to paraphrase a famous phrase "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"). Nowhere is that more obvious than in the chart showing the monthly change in waiter and bartender jobs.
I'm reminded of the old joke "getting wealthy by taking in each other washing"

Europe
Greece: over 280,000 people apply for EU-backed food aid
h/t Gates of Vienna
More than 280,000 people have applied for assistance through the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) in Greece, the state-run Athens-Macedonian news agency reported on Thursday.

The National Institute for Labor and Human Resources, which is responsible for coordinating the disbursement of funding in Greece under the aegis of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, said that it has received over 130,742 applications, representing more than 280,000 people, for entry into a food program since mid-July. Of these applications, 50,226 have been submitted by individuals and the rest by partner organizations such as public bodies, nongovernmental organizations and charities representing people in need. The deadline for applications has been extended to August 26.

The FEAD supports EU countries' actions to provide material assistance to the most deprived. This includes food, clothing and other essential items for personal use such as hygiene products.
I would encourage them to hold out for free Vodafone access.

Greece says cannot handle migrants; UNHCR calls crisis 'shameful'
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras asked Europe to help in handling tens of thousands of refugees coming in from Syria, Afghanistan and other war zones, saying on Friday his cash-strapped country could not deal with them alone.

The influx has piled pressure on Greece's services at a time when its own citizens are struggling with harsh cuts and its government is negotiating with the EU and the IMF for fresh loans to stave off economic collapse.

Boatloads of migrants arriving every day had triggered a "humanitarian crisis within the economic crisis," Tsipras said after a meeting with ministers.

"The EU is being tested on the issue of Greece. It has responded negatively on the economic front - that's my view. I hope it will respond positively on the humanitarian front," he said.

The comments came as the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
refugee agency (UNHCR) called on Greece to take control of the "total chaos" on Mediterranean islands, where thousands of migrants have landed. About 124,000 have arrived this year by sea, many via The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, according to Vincent Cochetel, UNHCR director for Europe.

"The level of suffering we have seen on the islands is unbearable. People arrive thinking they are in the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
. What we have seen was not anything acceptable in terms of standards of treatment," Cochetel said after visiting the Greek islands of Lesbos, Kos and Chios.

Former Bulgarian intelligence head sentenced to 10 years in jail
[Hurriyet Daily News] Bulgaria's former intelligence chief Kircho Kirov was sentenced to 10 years in jail on August 7 for misappropriation of public funds and violations of financial discipline, prosecutors said.

Kirov, convicted for misappropriating nearly 5 million levs ($2.8 million) and filing for more than 1,000 non-existent expenses between 2007 and 2011, denied any wrongdoing and will appeal the verdict.

"I believe in the fairness of the Bulgarian judicial system and I believe I will be able to prove my innocence," he told Bulgarian national radio.

The Grand Turk
Turkey's massive graft probe judge, prosecutor to stand trial
[Hurriyet Daily News] A Turkish court has accepted an indictment which charged a prosecutor and a judge in a landmark corruption investigation which targeted then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
's son and scores of businessman in 2013.

The Dec. 25, 2013, probe concerning the alleged awarding of illegal permits in building projects was described by the government as a coup attempt by its former ally, U.S.-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gulen, and his followers within the judiciary and security establishment.

Since the investigation was aborted by a massive reshuffling in the state civil service, prosecutors and judges linked to it have been targeted. The Dec. 25, 2013, probe's prosecutor, Muammer Akkas, who had hit headlines by handing out a blurb about the ongoing probe in an unprecedented move, was accused by the Bakirköy Chief Prosecutor's Office of wrongful conduct, together with the judge of the case, Suleyman Karacöl, who had accepted the Dec. 25, 2013, indictment.

The 5th Penal Chamber of the Court of Appeals accepted the indictment against Akkas and Karacöl, Turkish media reported Aug. 7. Both will stand trial on Nov. 25.

Navy: No Charges Against Officer for Weapons Violations in Chattanooga Attack
[Mil.com] WASHINGTON -- Lt. Cmdr. Tim White, the Navy officer who fired a sidearm in defense during the attack on Navy Operational Support Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., will not face charges, an official familiar with the investigation told Stars and Stripes on Wednesday.

White was reported to be one of two service members carrying sidearms at the time of the attack, which could have led to charges. The Department of Defense prohibits all military personnel other than security forces from carrying arms while on base unless they are in a combat zone.

The Navy is still investigating the shooting, where a lone gunman attacked two separate military facilities. The shootings resulted in the deaths of four Marines and one sailor.

Last week, the Navy countered reports that White would be charged, which spurred a national backlash. "At this time we can confirm no service member has been charged with an offense," the Navy said in a statement.

It also faced a backlash over why troops at "soft" military targets such as recruiting centers -- which are often in easy-to-reach places like shopping malls -- were not allowed to carry weapons, and Secretary of Defense Ash Carter directed a review to determine how security at these types of facilities could be improved.
They'll take care of him in his next Periodic Security Clearance Re-investigation.

Lt. Cmdr. White, I see you have mentioned that you were the subject of an investigation previously this year. As you know, this falls under the category of potential derogatory information and must be fully look into. We'll be getting back to you.

Rape victim in India told to undergo 'purity test' before rejoining husband
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Indian woman who survived a rape attack in the state of Gujarat
...where rioting seems to be a traditional passtime...
is to undergo a purity test to establish whether she can join her husband, the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
reported.

In a strange ritual known as "agnipariksha" or "test of fire", the woman will apparently be required to balance a 40kg rock on her head to prove her purity - the report added.

The ritual is said to date back to the Hindu poem The Ramayana in which Queen Sita was said to have been kidnapped from her husband -- she was later rescued.

The rape victim said in an interview with India Today - from behind a veil protecting her identity - that she was afraid that her attacker would track her down and kill her once he was released from jail.

The woman finds herself in the predicament at the same time as a 14-year-old girl who was the victim of a gang rape In India.
In the case of the latter the girl's father appealed to India's high court for her to be able to terminate the pregnancy -- but was refused. India's apex court later overturned the decision.

Coverage of sexual against women in India has increased in recent years with horrific stories of women left for dead on the road after gangs of young men attacked them -- often using weapons to carry out their attack.

In a recent case where police were hoping to capture a teenage rape victim's attacker, she was raped a second time as she was used for bait -- British daily The Independent reported.

In that case the girl -- a 17-year-old -- was apparently raped at knifepoint by two men early in July.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently came under fire when his government cut back the number of centers being provided for victims of abuse.

#1  Again, [OWG Co-Superpower = Mahanist?] CHINA = has to decide what are its geopol priorities right now, + whether its should amend or delay its national + geopol ambitions vee the USA + mostly pro-US "First Island Chain", + knowing also that delay will likely mean the US' Allies in East Asia will become that much more MilEconPol stronger agz China over time.

That being said, I still hold that China will likely prefer to deter or prevent any direct US Intervention in China-vs-ASEAN military conflict ASAP AMAP ALAP. CHINA WILL TRY TO KEEP ANY WAR AGZ US ALLIES "LIMITED" + QUICK + DECISIVE IN ITS FAVOR + WID MINIMAL OR NO DIRECT US INTERVENTION AGZ CHINA'S EFFORTS.

* CHINA'S ACE = IRAN'S ACE = PUTINIST RUSSIA'S ACE = THE US HAVING AN ANTI-US US OWG GLOBALIST POTUS IN THE WHITE HOUSE + AS #1 ON THE US NATIONAL COMMAND AUTHORITY RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERIKA'S DIRECT MILITARY RESPONSE, OR LACK OF SAME.

NASA signing $490M contract with Russia
The galling part isn't so much that we're contracting with Russia, but that we could do it ourselves and better, but we're too organizationally lazy to do it ourselves.
