Africa North
Algeria strands 13,000 migrants in the scorching Sahara
[DAWN] Algeria’s mass expulsions have picked up since October 2017, as the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
renewed pressure on North African countries to head off migrants colonists going north to Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
via the Mediterranean Sea or the barrier fences with Spain. These migrants colonists from across sub-Saharan Africa ‐ Mali, the Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Niger and more ‐ are part of the mass migration toward Europe, some fleeing violence, others just hoping to make a living.

A European Union spokesperson said the EU was aware of what Algeria was doing, but that "sovereign countries" can expel migrants colonists as long as they comply with international law. Unlike Niger, Algeria takes none of the EU money intended to help with the migration crisis, although it did receive $111.3 million in aid from Europe between 2014 and 2017.

Algeria provides no figures for the expulsions. But the number of people crossing on foot to Niger has been rising steadily since the International Organization for Migration (IOM) started counting in May 2017, when 135 people were dropped at the crossing, to as high as 2,888 in April 2018. In all, according to the IOM, a total of 11,276 men, women and kiddies survived the march.

At least another 2,500 were forced on a similar trek this year through the Sahara into neighboring Mali, with an unknown number succumbing along the way.

The migrants colonists the AP talked to described being rounded up hundreds at a time, crammed into open trucks headed southward for six to eight hours to what is known as Point Zero, then dropped in the desert and pointed in the direction of Niger. They are told to walk, sometimes at gunpoint. In early June, 217 men, women and kiddies were dropped well before reaching Point Zero, fully 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the nearest source of water, according to the IOM.

Within seconds of setting foot on the sand, the heat pierces even the thickest shoes. Sweat dries upon the first touch of air, providing little relief from the beating sun overhead. Each inhalation is like breathing in an oven.

But there is no turning back.

"There were people who couldn’t take it. They sat down and we left them. They were suffering too much," said Aliou Kande, an 18-year-old from Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
Kande said nearly a dozen people simply gave up, collapsing in the sand. His group of 1,000 got lost and wandered from 8 am until 7 pm, he said. He never saw the missing people again. The word he returned to, over and over, was "suffering".

Kande said the Algerian police stole everything he had earned when he was first detained ‐ 40,000 dinars ($340) and a Samsung cellphone.

"They tossed us into the desert, without our telephones, without money. I couldn’t even describe it to you," he said, still livid at the memory.

[EN.ABNA24] Security media center showed a video of the largest terrorist cell followed the Saudi-led coalition forces led by "Ammar Afash" in Hodeidah province and exposed their plans in the western coast battles.

Britain
Leader of UK labour party to recognize Palestinian state if elected
[EN.ABNA24] Leader of the UK labour party, Jeremy Corbyn, visited al-Baqa’a refugee camp on Saturday, home to 100,000 Paleostinian refugees, in a tour that also included Jordan’s mostly Syrian Zaatari camp, to mark UN world refugee day.

He had previously tweeted that: "The next Labour government will recognise Paleostine, as a state, as one step towards a genuine two-state solution to the Israel-Paleostine conflict."

He further clarified his position in an interview with al-Jazeera, according to the PNN, affirming that: "The Paleostinian people’s rights must be met, and that means an end to the occupation, the settlement policy, and the siege of Gazoo, as well as recognizing the right to return." He also criticized the Trump administration’s decision to reduce aid to UNRWA (United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Relief and Works Agency for Paleostinian Refugees) by over 50 percent.

This marks a change from traditional British government policy, especially under the last two conservative governments, who have generally been more pro-Israel.

Corbyn has consistently shown some support for the Paleostinian cause. In April, he attacked ’Western silence’ over the killings in Gazoo and many hope that his election could lead to a more pro-Paleostine, or at least less pro-Israeli foreign policy.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
there are also fears that a smear campaign by the pro-Israel lobby, accusing many critics of Israel of anti-Semitism could push Corbyn and Labour members to be less vocal on the issue.

Europe
'We will NOT lose control of our borders': Austria stages dramatic anti-migrant exercise
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Austria today staged a dramatic border protection exercise as it prepares to assume the EU presidency and push for hardline immigration measures as the bloc is gripped by increasingly bitter divisions over the migrant crisis.

Austrian leader Sebastian Kurz will assume the EU's rotating presidency on July 1 and has vowed to make migrants colonists claim asylum before entering the bloc.

That policy echoes the position of Italia, which has started turning away migrant vessels and proposed setting up processing centres in Libya and other countries of origin.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
is also locked in a struggle with her hardline government coalition partners that threatens to topple her government, and a summit between EU leaders on Sunday made little progress on tackling the crisis.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, the gondola was dangling by a single thread of rope.

Jack! Cynthia cried. I just realized I'm afraid of heights! I don't even like high heels!...

Spain's willingness to accept migrants colonists appeared to be wavering today after prime minister Pedro Sanchez said there needed to be a 'common answer' from 'various countries' in the EU.

It comes after the country's economic development minister, Jose Luis Abalos, said yesterday that Spain would not offer docking to the NGO boat Lifeline, which is carrying 230 migrants colonists, explaining that his country will not 'become the sea rescue organization for all of Europe.'

Kurz fears if Germany unilaterally closes its southern border then other EU nations will follow suit.

Today heavily armed coppers - wearing helmets and body armour while carrying riot shields - were on display to show Germany that Austria is willing to shut its own borders if Merkel's interior minister follows through with his threat to close the Bavarian frontier.

Thousands of migrants colonists poured through Europe's open borders daily three years ago, triggering a humanitarian and political crisis that has left deep divisions on the continent.

Canadian government welcomes back ISIS militants
In which Pretty Boy Trudeau makes everyone else pay for his bright ideas.
[EN.ABNA24] Around 190 Canadians have left their country to fight for the self-proclaimed Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and other terrorist groups. And they might receive a warm welcome if they get homesick. According to documents obtained by Global News in May, the administration of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau believes these faceless myrmidons have a "right to return" to Canada.

A brief prepared for Canadian Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale reveals that not only does the Trudeau administration believe these faceless myrmidons have a "right to return," but the government believes it must facilitate their re-assimilation into Canadian society. The brief asserts that while returnees may have broken laws by participating in international terrorism, they "may now be disillusioned with the cause" and no longer pose a threat to society. The document also maintains that because they may lack evidence to bring charges against defectors, the government must "mitigate the threat through efforts outside the justice system."

Enter the Orwellian-sounding "High Risk Returnee Interdepartmental Task Force."

This multidepartment bureaucratic behemoth partners with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in an aggressive campaign to "support" and "open up dialogue" with returning faceless myrmidons and their families. Approximately 60 faceless myrmidons have already returned to Canada, in addition to the 190 still fighting abroad in places like Syria and Iraq.

Trudeau was criticized for his stance on the issue when he recently compared the return of ISIS operatives to the settlement of Italian families in Montreal after World War ii. It was recently revealed that his government also altered intelligence documents that warned of the chemical weapons threat posed by returning ISIS members.

Trudeau’s administration believes it is important to devote significant time, money and political capital to coddle admittedly "high-risk" takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
(jihadists) who have declared war on Western values (including liberalism), to compare them to post-war Italian families, to censor intelligence documents, to attract inevitable controversy, and to subject his fellow Canadians to whatever these Islamic forces of Evil might choose to do to them‐instead of just allowing the normal procedure of arresting, trying and punishing deadly international faceless myrmidons to proceed. This appears to be worth it for Trudeau to gain credibility as a progressive who will stop at almost nothing.

Due Process for Undocumented Immigrants, Explained
[NYTIMES] Can the government bypass [due process provisions?]

Yes. A 1996 statute
...that was President Bill Clinton’s watch...
permits immigration authorities to deport people without a hearing, a lawyer or a right of appeal under certain conditions, a process known as expedited removal. Under current policy, the Department of Homeland Security criteria for expedited removals apply to undocumented migrants found within 100 miles of the border and within 14 days of entering the country. The statute imposes no geographic limit and allows for expedited removals up to two years after a migrant has entered the country, raising the possibility that the Trump administration may use this power more aggressively.

Can a new immigrant avoid expedited removal?

Yes, by seeking asylum. When that happens, officers at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services — not a judge — will review cases to decide whether applicants have a credible fear of persecution back home. If so, they are placed in the immigration court system for a fuller consideration of their request. If officers decided that asylum seekers have no credible fear and should be deported, they still have a right to appeal that denial to an immigration judge, who has seven days to decide.

What about “zero tolerance” and criminal prosecution?

Further complicating matters, while asylum and deportation proceedings are a civil process, the government can also separately pursue criminal prosecution in regular federal court. Illegally entering the United States is a misdemeanor on the first offense and a felony for repeat offenders. In April, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a “zero tolerance” policy for such crimes.

#1  I saw a tweet yesterday from Gabriel Malor (who I'd be inclined to believe) that explains that in certain circumstances, they do have limited due process rights. #2  I'm sorry but an Illegal Alien (I refuse to call them 'undocumented immigrant' like the NY Slimes because they are not immigrants) has no right IMHO to any immigrantion proceeding. they should be brought before a criminal court (which does *not* have the power to grant Asylum or immigrant status) to determine if they broke the law and, if so, be immediately deported. That is the 'due process' they require. No Immigration courts or process, no granting of Asylum, just a criminal court.
As for Asylum - only petitions brought before a consulate or port of entry should be considered. you violate the border and you forfit any asylum consideration.
Do that and illegal immigration would dry up to near zero.
I know... but I can dream can't I?

Kashmiri separatists call for Islamabad to launch diplomatic offensive
[DAWN] The United Jihad Council (UJC), an alliance of over a dozen Kashmiri separatist groups, on Tuesday played down the recent imposition of governor’s rule in India-held Kashmire as a "non-issue," noting that New Delhi had always run the occupied territory "through its stooges and puppet governments".

"For the sake of durable peace in the region, it is imperative that India read the writing on the wall, respect the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiris and hold a free and fair plebiscite in accordance with the pledges made by its leadership after partition of the sub-continent," the UJC chief, Syed Salahuddin

Salahuddin's hobbies include crocheting doilies shaped like the Taj Mahal, combing his enormous beard, and eating....
, was quoted as saying in a blurb.

According to the blurb, issued by the group, the UJC conglomerate had on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with Salahuddin in the chair to discuss recent events in held Kashmire.

During the meeting, the UJC chief warned against a major humanitarian disaster in the face of unrelenting atrocities and human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
violations at the hands of Indian forces in held Kashmire.

Expressing serious concern over the "criminal silence" of the global institutions and powers, he stressed that Islamabad should go beyond its "traditional half-hearted" efforts and launch a forceful diplomatic initiative to draw the attention of the world community towards the agonising situation in the held territory.

Iraqi PM says armed groups in Iraq should be disarmed, including PKK
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has renewed his call to exclude the possession of arms to the state.

Speaking during his weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Abadi said his government “demands to disarm armed groups on Iraqi soil, especially the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Turkish forces regularly PKK locations in Iraq. Ankara and several world countries label PKK a terrorist group. Both sides fought a bloody war for decades. Baghdad had always said it opposes the use of its territories to launch attacks on neighboring countries.

He revealed that his cabinet has discussed enhancing control over the borders with Turkey and Iran

The prime minister said “terrorist actions are being publicized to weaken the country”, labelling them “an escalation against the electoral process”.

Abadi was referring to a recent video purports to show Islamic State militants threatening to behead some kidnapped civilians if Iraqi authorities do not release female detainees linked with the militant group.

Abadi had repeatedly urged to limit arms possession to the state. Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces have fought IS alongside the government and won government recognition late 2016, but Abadi had hinted to some unruly factions within the force.

Children of Iraq’s Islamic State rape victims in limbo

are facing a murky future, according to a local paramilitary commander from the religious ethnicity.

Murad Sheikh Kalu, a commander of the Yazidi mobilization force, told Almaalomah website on Tuesday that "most of Yazidi women kidnapped and raped by Islamic State turbans gave birth to babies after their release".

"Those children are in hundreds, and are of unknown parentage, they are facing an unknown fate, which is a great danger|, Kalu said.

"While some of them are held by their mothers, others are being shifted among camps and orphanages," he revealed.

He urged the Iraqi government to "take urgent measures to contain those children, legalize their conditions and embrace them instead of leaving them to the street," as he put it.

Islamic State massacred and enslaved thousands of Yazidis, among other Iraqis, when they overran a third of Iraq in 2014.

According to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
, thousands of Yazidi men and boys remain missing and the terrorist group continues to subject some 3,000 women and girls in Syria to violence.

Tehran prosecutor warns against US Plot to provoke ‘civil disobedience’ in Iran
[EN.ABNA24] The prosecutor general of Tehran highlighted the US government’s never-ending hostility toward the land of the Medes and the Persians and said Washington is plotting to provoke unrest and "civil disobedience" in the Islamic Theocratic Republic through economic pressures against the country.

"They (the US officials) want to create fear in the hearts of the (Iranian) people by a psychological war and increase economic pressure through... imposing sanctions against banks," Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi said during a meeting with a number of Iranian judges in Tehran on Sunday.

In order to reach its goal, the US has had talks with high-ranking officials of a number of countries, he added.

Dowlatabadi further pointed to peaceful protests in Tehran over price hikes and said, "The enemy wants to portray the public demands as civil disobedience..."

The prosecutor also called on the country’s officials and ordinary people to exercise vigilance against the US plots so that the people’s "legitimate demands" would not turn into civil disobedience.

The remarks came as protesters in Tehran reportedly swarmed the capital’s historic Grand Bazaar on Monday and forced shopkeepers to close their stalls, months after similar demonstrations rocked the country.

The protests erupted after the Iranian rial dropped to 90,000 to the US dollar on the country's black market, despite government attempts to control the currency rate.

During late December and early January, peaceful protests over rising prices and economic problems broke out in some Iranian cities, but the unauthorized gatherings turned violent after a number of opportunists, some of them armed, vandalized public property and launched attacks on cop shoppes and government buildings.

Iranian security officials say they have hard evidence that the protests were directed from abroad.

Israeli occupation of Arab land cause of Mideast woes: Syrian Ambassador
[EN.ABNA24] Syria’s Ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
(UN) Bashar al-Jaafari has stressed that the main reason behind the conflicts in the Middle East is the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, including Syria’s Golan Heights.

Speaking during a UN Security Council session on Monday, Jaafari said, "Syria believes that the cause of the conflicts in the Middle East has been and continues to be the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, including Syria’s occupied Golan."

He warned that any attempt to create new crises in order to save the Israeli entity via the liquidation of the Paleostinian cause would further increase tensions and escalate threats to international peace and security.

"Some governments still politicize the humanitarian file in Syria," he said elsewhere in his remarks, adding that those countries, which he did not name, "falsify information, fabricate evidence, and manipulate reports on the use of chemical weapon in Syria."

"The Syrian government has never [used] and will not use any toxic chemical weapons, which it originally doesn’t possess after eliminating them on board US ships in the Mediterranean Sea," Jaafari stressed.
