Saudis said set to host top Hamas delegation, further dimming Israeli hopes for ties
Two steps forward, one step back. I wonder what they are continuing to do with Israel sub rosa, the same as they’ve been doing for the past two decades.
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian terror group’s politicianship, including Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...

Australian Army Chief Warns of Further Criminal Charges Over Alleged War Crimes in Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] Australian Defence Force (ADF) chief Angus Campbell has warned that additional criminal charges may be brought concerning claims that Australian soldiers committed war crimes in Afghanistan.

Speaking to the Lowy Institute in Sydney, Campbell reportedly stated that the Office of the Special Investigator (OSI) was still looking into claims of war crimes against Australian service members, reports the Guardians.

According to reliable information, Australian Special Forces members killed up to 39 people while operating in the country, and 19 servicemen were referred for criminal prosecution.

Over 40 alleged offences are being looked at, according to the Office of the Special Investigator (OSI), established in the wake of the report.

It claimed that throughout 23 different occurrences, 25 Special Forces members had either directly participated in or served as "accessories" to unlawful killings.

"The OSI, which is working independently, has seen a first arrest and charging of a former soldier. You will not see me trying to gloss over these things, and I think there could be some very uncomfortable days coming forward," Campbell said.

According to the 2020 probe report, some soldiers’ unchecked "warrior culture" was responsible for the murders of "prisoners, farmers, or civilians" between 2009 and 2013.

Australia had 400 soldiers operating in Afghanistan until the Taliban

took control of Kabul in August 2021.

#1  Unchecked warrior culture, you say? Perhaps. But one thing is certain, they had to work around the clock to find that many 'civilians and farmers' in Afghanistan.

Germany see record three million refugees, with Iraqis ranking fourth among nationalities
[Shafaq News] The Lutke (Summit) Foundation for Refugee Affairs in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq revealed in a report on Saturday that the number of registered refugees in Germany has surged past the three million mark, with Iraqi refugees holding the fourth position among various nationalities.

A substantial portion, one-third, of these refugees hail from Ukraine, followed by those from Syria, Afghanistan, and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, the report said.

The data showed that Germany witnessed a record influx of asylum applications in 2022, with 1.14 million new applicants, predominantly originating from Ukraine. In contrast, the German authorities compelled 255,000 individuals to depart the country upon the rejection of their asylum petitions.

Based on the Summit Foundation's review of the most recent statistics, Germany has registered roughly 3.1 million refugees across the nation.

Among the 1.14 million new asylum seekers registered in 2022, 1.01 million were Ukrainians. By the conclusion of 2022, the total number of refugees in Germany amounted to approximately 2.1 million, encompassing 674,000 Syrians, 286,000 Afghans, 211,000 Iraqis, and 101,000 Turks. The exact number of those granted asylum rights has yet to be determined.

Refugees from Ukraine and the aforementioned four countries constitute an estimated 75% of Germany's total refugee population. This remarkable upswing in refugee numbers, primarily observed in the past year, marks the most significant increase since the 2007 census.

9/11 Hijackers Given Bank Accounts, California Apartment at ‘Behest of the CIA' – FBI Investigator
[SPUTNIKGLOBE]An extraordinary legal filing revealed two of the hijackers responsible for the September 11 terror attacks had a much more intimate relationship with the Central Intelligence Agency than previously known.

At least two of the 9/11 hijackers were being closely monitored by the CIA and may have even been recruited by the agency well before they helped fly a pair of Boeing 767s into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, newly-released documents reveal.

The jaw-dropping court filing contains extensive testimony by multiple FBI investigators who maintain that the CIA obstructed official investigations into the notorious terrorist attack in order to conceal its connections to al-Qaeda*.

Perhaps even more shockingly, one FBI agent explained that American bank accounts were opened for the two hijackers — and a San Diego based apartment rented for them — "at the behest of the CIA."

Skeptics have long focused their attention on the extremely close relationship between 9/11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar and alleged Saudi intelligence agent Omar al-Bayoumi, who arranged a steady stipend as well as accommodations for the pair immediately after their arrival in the US. Al-Bayoumi has publicly maintained that his incredible generosity towards them was based on a mere ’chance encounter’ at a restaurant after they landed in California. According to one agent, who’s code-named "CS-23" in the documents, the CIA has long been working to stonewall the FBI’s investigation into the 2001 terrorist attack, in part by refusing to divulge information regarding the agency’s relationship with al-Bayoumi.

According to CS-23, when first asked, "CIA officials responded to the [FBI’S] San Diego field office and reported that the CIA held no files on al-Bayoumi," a claim which the agent said was "a falsehood," given "the CIA maintained ’operational files’ on Omar al-Bayoumi" and that their relationship had left a noticeable "paper trail."

Indeed, "information concerning al-Bayoumi was never passed to the FBI," the agent explained — likely because Omar al-Bayoumi was "an intelligence officer in [the] employ of the Saudi government," who was "directed to attempt to recruit Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdhar as intelligence sources while they were in San Diego."

Even more horrifying is the fact that "the attempt to recruit al-Hazmi and al-Mihdhar was an operation directed by the Central Intelligence Agency," CS-23 maintains.

According to that FBI agent, "the CIA used their liaison relationship with the Saudi intelligence services to conduct an operation on US soil," the legal filing reveals.

Such an arrangement would be necessary since "the CIA is forbidden by law to conduct intelligence operations within the US," the agent explained, noting that "the CIA has used its relationship with allied intelligence services to conduct operations inside the United States in the past."

For decades, much of the CIA’s dirty work was carried out by a secret international grouping of pro-US intelligence services which bore the name ’The Safari Club’ — and which included Saudi Arabia. The group’s existence didn’t become public knowledge until Egyptian journalist Mohamed Heikal was granted permission by Iran’s new revolutionary government to examine the Shah’s archives and discovered a document formalizing the agreement.

Likely seeking to avoid any similar disclosure, CS-23 explained, "when FBI officials in San Diego and at FBI headquarters became aware of both al-Bayoumi's affiliation with Saudi intelligence and subsequently the existence of the CIA's operation to recruit al-Harmi and al-Mihdhar through al-Bayoumi... senior FBI officials suppressed investigations into the above."

Furthermore, the FBI investigator revealed the CIA had effectively tainted the entire inquiry before it even got off the ground by tampering with witnesses.

"CS-23 also told me that FBI agents testifying before the Joint Inquiry into the 9/11 attacks were instructed not to reveal the full extent of Saudi involvement with Al-Oaeda," the report concludes.

Dismissing everything else in the article, this paragraph alone is entirely believable. Source recruitment be hard.

In NA session, army chief says negotiations helped terrorists regroup
[GEO.TV] Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir said Friday that negotiations with snuffies in the past helped bandidos forces of Evil regroup in the country. His remarks come as the nation faces a rise in terrorist activities, leading to the loss of precious lives.

The army chief's comments were reflective of the National Security Committee's (NSC) meeting — which took place last week — in which the top military and civil brass decided that the recent spate of terrorism was a result of a soft corner for and reckless policy with the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP).

In the same meeting, the committee also decided to kickstart an all-out comprehensive operation against murderous Moslem outfits to root out the menace of terrorism from the country.

During his briefing today in an in-camera meeting of the lower house's National Security Committee, the COAS said the campaign will include representation not only from the security agencies but also from all departments of the government. "This is not a new operation but a whole national approach."

"Alhamdulillah, there is no no-go area in Pakistain at this time. A large number of deaders laid down their lives for this success. They shed their blood for the country," he said.

The COAS added that bandidos forces of Evil have no other option but to accept the state's writ and noted that they regrouped due to the state's willingness to negotiate with them.

"Security forces are ready for permanent peace in the country. In this regard, intelligence-based operations are conducted on a daily basis," the army chief added.

"We should leave the discussion of new and old Pakistain and talk about our Pakistain from now on. Pakistain has no shortage of resources and manpower," the army chief said.

"Elected representatives of the people should decide the nation's destination. Pakistain Army will fully support Pakistain in its journey of development and success," he said.

Christians flock to Jerusalem Holy Fire ritual; minor police scuffles over crowd size
[IsraelTimes] Pilgrims angered that many not allowed to reach Church of the Holy Sepulchre for ancient ceremony; no injuries as worshipers break through barriers; police: limits are for safety.

Israeli forces beat Christian worshippers headed toward holy-ceremony

Israeli forces on Saturday beat Christian worshippers heading toward the Church of the Holy Sepulchre amid growing restrictions on the freedom of religion in Jerusalem, a video circulated by Sky News Arabia showed.

#1  I had never heard of that ceremony. Usually, Christian worship is non-violent unless you try to save seats at Easter or Christmas. Not allowing ticketed pilgrims is not going to do much for tourism. Stampede deaths are also detrimental to tourism, of course.

Holy Sepulchre letter undermines church complaints that Israeli govt unfairly limits worship
[IsraelTimes] Holy site architect asks police to cap crowd size for safety reasons, but Greek Orthodox Church criticizes ’heavy-handed’ restrictions
The Orthodox Church has a long as well as recent history of antisemitism.
Contradicting allegations by church leaders earlier this week that Israel Police was unnecessarily infringing on Christians’ freedom of worship, a letter reviewed by The Times of Israel on Friday indicates that restrictions on Saturday’s Holy Fire ceremony were imposed at the request of a Greek Orthodox official.

The April 3 letter, sent to the cop shoppe outside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre by church architect Teo Metropoulos, stresses that the maximum number of visitors for the ceremony should be 1,800 inside the building and 200 more in the courtyard.
