#1  The homicide fatality rate in South Africa has been over 30 per 100k people for decades.

The homicide fatality rate in the USA has been about 7-9 for quite a while now (way more in big cities of course).

The number of guns legally owned in South Africa is about 3 million in a population of about 60 million. However, a lot of guns are illegally owned there, perhaps another 3 million.

I once had fun discussing this with a leftist acquaintance. He tried to excuse South Africa because of white oppression but since the govt has been black dominated for more than 20 years, it was amusing to see him squirm.

Road to Ga. beach party turns violent with at least 8 injured in crashes, shooting, lawmakers say
[WSB-TV] TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — Georgia lawmakers say they were overwhelmed Saturday by multiple car crashes and a shooting on Highway 80 as thousands made their way to Orange Crush on Tybee Island.

Orange Crush, the unofficial beach bash for HBCU students, returned to Tybee Island this weekend, bringing many visitors.

City officials told WJCL that the event was unpermitted, however, they prepared law enforcement, firefighters, and more to keep everyone safe.

While authorities prepared for the beach’s chaos, the road to the party was a different story.

According to authorities, at 1:30 p.m. on Highway 80 to Tybee Island, seven people were taken to the hospital after a sprinter van and muscle car collided, causing a traffic chain reaction.

WJCL reported that children were possibly ejected in the crash.

Florida sheriff sends warning to 'sick, perverted, scum' after pastor busted using church Wi-Fi for child porn
[FoxNews] A Florida man who worked as a youth pastor and public school teacher was arrested after he allegedly downloaded child pornography and used his church’s Wi-Fi.

Edward Wilds III, 44, was busted in Palatka, Florida, this week after police said he downloaded the illicit material at Palatka Baptist Temple after a service, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Police were allegedly alerted to the illegal activity through a cyber-tip from a social media site.

"In total 54,000 images were discovered on accounts and devices associated with Wilds. The majority of the images were pornographic," police said.

"Wilds told detectives he had been banned by the company of one social media site several times. Detectives discovered messaging conversations where Wilds was asked by another user for images of children between the ages of 14-16 years old. He sent 42 images."

Detectives met with Wilds in March and took control of his electronic devices for a forensic download. Wilds was suspended and removed from the classroom where he taught sixth grade at Middleton-Burney Elementary School.

Eight people, including young girl, wounded in two possibly related DC shootings
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Two shootings in Washington, D.C., on Friday night resulted in eight people, including a maiden of tender years, suffering injuries, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

There were no fatalities in the two shootings, which police said could be related because they occurred in the same area of the city in a short time frame.

About 10 p.m. police responded to reports of shots fired on Lebaum Street and found seven men who suffered gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening, Assistant Chief of Patrol Services South Andre Wright said in a news conference at the scene.

Most of the victims took themselves to hospitals, Wright said.

"There was some chaos, obviously, because of the number of victims and the loved ones," he said.

While officers were on Lebaum Street, police received a report of a shooting on 2nd Street, where they found a 12-year-old girl who had suffered "a gunshot wound to her lower extremities," Wright said, adding that the injury was not life-threatening.

Police were looking for a car described by witnesses on Lebaum Street as a black sedan, possibly a Mercedes, from which shooters "drove through the block and indiscriminately fired upon" people.

The two shootings were believed to be connected due to the proximity of the scenes and the close times of the shootings, Wright said, although a possible motive was not immediately known.

"It’s a beautiful night. There were folks who were hanging out here and there were folks who were moving about on the 2nd Street scene," Wright said. "And for some reason you have some people who think that it was okay to fire a firearm at multiple individuals at two different scenes. And we’re not going to let that stand."

Caitlyn Jenner escalates feud with Dylan Mulvaney
[NYPOST] Caitlyn Jenner escalated her war of words with Dylan Mulvaney, ripping the trans influencer as "fringe" and "not good" for the LGBT movement.

"I have never spoken to her, nor will I," Jenner, 73, told The Post, dismissing any possibility of a sit-down between the two trans titans.

"I try to be, for the LGBT community, the adult in the room. She is not. She is bouncing around all over the place. I have nothing in common with her.

"The fringe is the worst thing that can happen to the trans community and the media only wants to report on that because of the sensationalization of it and honestly that’s got to stop," Jenner said.

Mulvaney 26 — a biological male —
...to be fair, both ladies are biological males, but only dear little Dylan is a homosexual musical theater actor playing at being a Mad Men girlfriend...
has raised ire among conservatives after being signed as a rep for various brands advertising on Instagram. Endorsement deals for Bud Light and Nike drew particular condemnation — with Jenner herself joining the pile-on.

"As someone that grew up in awe of what [Nike co-founder] Phil Knight did, it is a shame to see such an iconic American company go so woke
...the on-going war against good sense...
!" she tweeted.
It will be very interesting when Bruce Jenner gives up playacting, because real ladies aren’t interested in fake ones that way.

Explorers find WWII Japanese ship sunk with over 1,000 Allied POWs
[NY Post] A Japanese merchant ship sunk during World War II while carrying more than 1,000 Allied prisoners of war has been found, officials announced Saturday.

The Montevideo Maru was torpedoed on July 1, 1942, off the coast of the Philippines by a United States submarine whose crew did not realize the vessel carried prisoners of war.

It was Australia’s largest maritime wartime loss with a total of 1,080 lives.

The 12-day search of the Luzon island in the South China Sea by a team of explorers using an autonomous underwater vehicle with in-built sonar took them 13,120 feet below the sea — deeper than the Titanic — to find the wreck.

"The extraordinary effort behind this discovery speaks for the enduring truth of Australia’s solemn national promise to always remember and honor those who served our country," Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

No efforts will be made to remove human remains and artifacts out of respect for the families of those who died, according to a statement Saturday from Sydney-based Silentworld Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to maritime archaeology and history.

The group participated in the mission with Dutch deep-sea survey specialists Fugro and Australia’s Defense Department.

The Montevideo Maru was transporting prisoners and civilians who were captured after the fall of Rabaul in Papua New Guinea.

Those killed included 1,080 people from 14 nations, including 979 Australians.

Bud Light marketing exec behind Dylan Mulvaney partnership takes leave of absence: report
[NYPOST] The Bud Light senior marketing executive behind the controversial Dylan Mulvaney ad campaign has taken a leave of absence, according to a report.

Alissa Heinerscheid, vice president of marketing for the popular beer, will be replaced by Budweiser global marketing VP Todd Allen, AdAge reported on Friday.

Heinerscheid has led the brand since June. It’s unclear if her replacement will be permanent.

The move comes as Bud Light and its parent company Anheuser-Busch have faced immense backlash for its partnership with Mulvaney, a transgender
...mutton, dressed up as pork...
influencer who rose to fame chronicling her gender transition on social media.

At the conclusion of Mulvaney’s transition she dubbed "365 Days of Girlhood," the beer maker sent the deep thinker custom-made can’s featuring her face, which she revealed in an April 1 Instagram post with the hashtag #budlightpatner. She later posted another video enjoying one of the beers in a bathtub.

A day before Mulvaney announced the partnership, Heinerscheid was interviewed on the podcast "Make Yourself At Home," where she discussed her work in transforming the Bud Light brand from its "fratty" and "out of touch" humor to a beer company that embraces inclusivity.

-Land of the Free
Americans Stock up on Guns: 60 Million Firearms Sold in 2 Years During COVID-19 Pandemic
[Red State] The COVID-19 pandemic brought about unprecedented changes in every aspect of American life, including a significant surge in gun ownership. According to a report from The Trace, a nonprofit news outlet that tracks gun violence, one-fifth of U.S. households purchased guns during the pandemic, resulting in more than 15 million Americans keeping firearms in their homes for the first time.

Americans purchased nearly 60 million guns between 2020 and 2022, with yearly sales running at about twice the level of 15 or 20 years ago. A NORC survey also revealed that between March 2020 and March 2022, 18 percent of households purchased firearms.

One of the notable changes in the type of guns being purchased is the shift from rifles to handguns, particularly semiautomatic handguns, which are kept in bedside tables, glove compartments, or carried on one’s person. This change in gun ownership reflects a growing trend towards self-defense and personal protection, especially during a time of uncertainty and fear brought about by the pandemic.

Many Americans, particularly first-time gun owners, bought guns to protect themselves and their families against the perceived threat of home invasion or other forms of violence during a time when they felt vulnerable.

This shift towards personal protection is evident in the fact that the buyers during the pandemic were more likely to be women, people of color, and renters, according to the NORC survey. The heightened crime rates that developed during the civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd might have also been a contributing factor.

The Hill’s report on The Trace’s data seemed to suggest that the increase in gun ownership has contributed to the uptick in gun deaths that occurred over the same time period.

Kenya cult deaths: 21 bodies found in investigation into 'starvation cult'
[BBC] Kenyan police have exhumed 21 bodies near the coastal town of Malindi, as they investigate a preacher said to have told followers to starve to death.

Dead children were among those exhumed, and police said they expected to find even more bodies.

The shallow graves are in Shakahola forest, where 15 members of the Good News International Church were rescued last week.

Preacher Paul Mackenzie Nthenge is in custody, pending a court appearance.
At least they won't have to feed him
State broadcaster KBC described him as a "cult leader", and reported that 58 graves have so far been identified.

Mr Mackenzie has denied wrongdoing, but has been refused bail. He insists that he shut down his church in 2019.

He allegedly told followers to starve themselves in order to "meet Jesus".

The Kenyan daily The Standard said pathologists will take DNA samples and conduct tests to determine whether the victims died of starvation.

Police arrested Mr Mackenzie on 15 April after discovering the bodies of four people suspected of having starved themselves to death.

Victor Kaudo of the Malindi Social Justice Centre told Citizen TV "when we are in this forest and come to an area where we see a big and tall cross, we know that means more than five people are buried there".

The preacher allegedly named three villages Nazareth, Bethlehem and Judea and baptised followers in ponds before telling them to fast, The Standard reports.

Kenya is a religious country and there have been previous cases of people being lured into dangerous, unregulated churches or cults.

is homesick and so "desperate" to attend the coronation, he’s made numerous calls to King Charles trying to make plans, according to a report.

But the new monarch has been so busy, he’s only had time for one conversation with the "Spare" heir, who will travel to the UK for the historic event without wife Meghan, who will remain in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, to celebrate their son Archie’s fourth birthday, The Sun reported.

Harry misses some aspects of British life, the outlet reported, suggesting the prince may start spending more time in the United Kingdom.

"Harry was desperate to come back for the coronation and spend quality time with his family," a source told The Sun.

Security has been an issue, with Harry suing the Home Office, claiming the removal of his taxpayer-funded armed guards is "unfair" and "illegal."

The one chat Harry and King Charles had showed a "willingness and wanting to mend on both sides," The Sun reported.

#3  I really feel sorry for Harry. He seemed to be a decent sort for a royal. He served in active combat, and became an attack helicopter pilot. Yes, he was a little wild when younger, but who wouldn't be if you were filthy rich, relatively good looking, and a prince?
Then he met and married Meghan.

Japan puts military on alert fearing North Korean missile
[An Nahar] Japan ordered its military Saturday to prepare to shoot down a North Korea

Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...

Placing the satellite into orbit would require a long-range projectile, which North Korea is banned from launching as the United Nations

views such exercises as tests of ballistic missile technology.

On Saturday Japanese minister Yasukazu Hamada told the country's Self-Defense Forces "there is a possibility of ordering destructive measures against ballistic missiles and others", according to a statement from the ministry of defence.

Hamada instructed troops to "implement measures necessary to limit damage in the event of a ballistic missile falling."

He ordered preparations for the deployment of destroyers equipped with SM-3 missile interceptors, as well as military units in the southern prefecture of Okinawa that can operate Patriot PAC-3 missiles.

G7 foreign ministers meeting in Japan on Tuesday demanded North Korea refrain from any further ballistic missile tests following a spate of launches this year.

The group of rich nations also warned Pyongyang against carrying out an expected nuclear weapons test and said there would be a "robust" response if it did not comply.

A week ago Pyongyang said it had successfully tested a solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile, hailing it as a breakthrough for the country's nuclear counterattack capabilities.

#1  So we used Ukraine so Russia or China will use North Korea. Two can play the satellite proxy game.
Interesting idea. North Korea strikes. You then have Russia and China to worry about but also
South Korea being so close. Limited response. I don't know how this would play out.

Tech Giant Oracle Cuts Ties with Foreign Disinformation ‘Experts' GDI
[Breitbart] Oracle, an international technology giant known for its cloud and enterprise products, has cut ties with the Global Disinformation Index (GDI), the UK-based, State Department-funded group that advised advertisers to blacklist conservative media.

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, which released GDI’s blacklist earlier this year, Oracle corporate communications VP Michael Egbert confirmed that Oracle was cutting ties with GDI over free speech concerns.

“After conducting a review, we agree with others in the advertising industry that the services we provide marketers must be in full support of free speech, which is why we are ending our relationship with GDI,” said Egbert.

Like many others in the enterprise tech sector, including Microsoft-owned digital ad platform Xandr, Oracle had a relationship with GDI, which began in 2021.

At the time, Oracle said it was working with GDI to “to help marketers safeguard ad spend and protect brands from inadvertently supporting disinformation sites.”

Oracle stated at the time that it believed GDI’s blacklist of untrustworthy websites to be “non-partisan” in nature, but that has since been proven false. The British organization’s leaked blacklist showed a swathe of mainstream conservative and libertarian news organizations, including Breitbart News, the New York Post, Reason Magazine, as well as the non-partisan news aggregator RealClearPolitics were blacklisted as unsafe for advertisers.

Oracle is one of the few Silicon Valley tech giants led by an openly Republican co-founder, its current executive chairman Larry Ellison. Ellison refused demands from activist employees to cancel a fundraiser for Donald Trump in 2020.

Like Oracle, Microsoft’s Xandr also cut ties with GDI following the leak of the blacklist.

“We try to take a principled approach to accuracy and fighting foreign propaganda. We’re working quickly to fix the issue and Xandr has stopped using GDI’s services while we are doing a larger review,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Breitbart News in February, following the blacklist’s publication in the Washington Examiner.

The leak of the blacklist, and revelations about GDI being funded by the U.S. State Department, led to immediate condemnation from conservative lawmakers.

“We’ve seen recently how the US government has tried to use the tech sector to control the narrative on many issues,” said Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) at the time.

“Outlets such as the Huffington Post and BuzzFeed are among the biggest pushers of disinformation, yet are ranked as very trustworthy by the index.”

The State Department’s use of taxpayer money to fund the blacklisting organization is now under investigation by the House Oversight Committee, under the leadership of Rep. James Comer (R-KY).

Government Corruption
Big Banks, Corporations Getting 90 Percent Of Biden's Green Energy Credits: Congressional Study
[ZERO] Most of the green energy tax benefits provided by President Joe Biden’s $750 billion Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 are going into the coffers of big banks and billion-dollar corporations, according to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.).

"While President Biden’s supercharged IRS is warming up to target working Americans, his administration is getting ready to spend those tax dollars to subsidize special interest green energy projects of billion-dollar companies," Smith said in a statement based on a new congressional analysis issued by the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT).

Smith was referring to the Biden administration’s controversial plan to double the size of the IRS workforce by adding 87,000 new tax investigators and auditors. House Republicans want to defund the IRS expansion plan.

"Many of the same companies getting a green corporate welfare check have shed their American identity to do business with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and, as a result, our tax dollars are being funneled to Chinese entities that manipulate our key supply chains," Smith continued.

"While House Republicans are fighting for working families struggling to pay their gasoline and utility bills, House Democrats are prioritizing foreign nations and sending as many taxpayer-funded handouts to corporations as possible. With big banks pocketing three times more of these special interest tax breaks than any other industry, it’s clear Democrats are rewarding their friends on Wall Street that push their partisan ESG agenda," the Missouri Republican said.

The JCT includes members from both the Senate and House of Representatives, and the chairmanship and vice chairmanship positions are rotated between the two chambers from one Congress to the next. Smith is the chairman this year, while Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the most senior senator on the panel, is the vice chairman.

Philippine communists confirm deaths of 2 senior leaders in August 2022
From time to time we check in on the Communists in that part of the world.
[BenarNews] The outlawed Communist Party of the Philippines on Thursday confirmed the deaths of two of its big shots months ago, alleging that the military staged their deaths to make it appear they were killed in a clash at sea.

National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, meanwhile, called the CPP allegation "lies."

CPP front man Marco Valbuena said the group’s chairman, Benito Tiamzon, 71, and his wife, Secretary General Wilma Tiamzon, 70, were among 10 members killed in an August 2022 incident.

Valbuena said the Tiamzons and their companions were in two vans when they were caught by the military along a national highway in Catbalogan City on Aug. 21, 2022.

"They were flagged down between 12 noon and 1 in the afternoon, after which all communications with the group were lost. They were unarmed," Valbuena said.

"According to the information gathered by the Central Committee, the Tiamzons suffered severe beating in the hands of their captors. Internal reports cited witnesses who saw how the faces and bodies of the victims were smashed, apparently beaten with hard objects," he said.

Earlier, then-8th Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Edgardo De Leon said authorities believed the 10 died after their boat went kaboom! during a firefight off Catbalogan city early Aug. 22, 2022, adding the Tiamzons were among those onboard.

Valbuena said CPP investigation disputed the military story on the circumstances leading to the death of the couple and their companions.

"In truth, the already lifeless bodies of the Tiamzons and their group were dumped on a motorboat filled with explosives, and tugged from Catbalogan midway toward Taranganan island before it exploded," Valbuena said.

The national security adviser said the CPP’s allegation deserved "scant comment."

"[T]here is no truth whatsoever in this clearly fabricated story and we stand by the official reports from the AFP," Año said in a statement, using an acronym for the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

He noted that the CPP could now be considered "headless with no clear leadership," and it "had been forced to admit what many of us have suspected many, many months ago."

"They have lost both their guiding light in the person of Joma and their commander in the Tiamzons and are now groping in the dark with no direction nor future in sight," he said.

Año was referring to Jose Maria Sison, the rebels’ ideological founder who died in December.

Sison founded the communist front in 1969, making it one of the longest-running insurgencies in the world. The fighting has killed thousands of Filipinos and efforts at peace talks have failed repeatedly. Government successes on the field, particularly in the last five years, has led to their numbers falling to about 2,100 fighters from a high of about 20,000 in the 1980s.

The news of the Timazons’ death came the same week the government announced the capture in Malaysia and deportation to the Philippines of Eric Jun Casilao, another high-ranking rebel leader.

Año noted that Casilao is a Central Committee member of CPP-NPA-NDF and was "a notorious NPA leader who orchestrated numerous terrorist activities." NDF is an acronym for the National Democratic Front, the party’s political wing.

"The death of the Tiamzons and the arrest of Casilao show that gunnies cannot find a safe haven anywhere in the world, be it in the mountains or in other countries," Año said.

"The government is determined to capture terrorist leaders wherever they may be."

Deputy head of Myanmar’s election commission has been shot dead in Yangon by rebel fighters

#1  Rolling Stone, April 15: "In February 2021, a decade-long period of quasi-democracy ended in Myanmar when the military seized back power. Protesters were gunned down..., and opposition supporters arrested, tortured, and disappeared. But unlike past uprisings, this generation is refusing to back down. Revolutionary militias called People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) made up of mostly Burmans, the country’s ethnic majority, are attacking the regime in cities and lowland areas that have never before seen fighting, and bolstering ethnic armed groups in the borderlands. Violence in Burma is... 'at its highest level since World War II.' ... In an unusual arrangement, FBR and ethnic resistance groups cooperate, drill, and work out side by side... Under pressure, the junta’s army is doing what it always has but at greater scale: torching villages; executing political prisoners; and deliberately targeting schools, churches, and large civilian gatherings with airstrikes to sow terror. ... To date, thousands have died and more than 3 million people are internally displaced.
