Liberation of Klishchiivka created a springboard for the further offensive of the Defense Forces, the ZSU
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[LB] This will allow Ukrainian units to control the logistical routes by which the Russian army provides captured Bakhmut.

by Natalka Lototska

The liberation of the village of Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region created a bridgehead for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will allow the development of a further offensive.

The head of the press service of the Eastern group of troops, Ilya Yevlash, announced this on the air of the Yedyni Novyni telethon, writes Ukrinform.

According to him, the liberation of Klishchiivka will first of all allow Ukrainian units to control the logistical routes by which the Russian army provides captured Bakhmut.

"In addition, this is the exposure of the flanks, in particular the southern one, which will allow us to advance more conveniently deep into the enemy's ranks and deliver more accurate and deeper fire strikes using various artillery systems," added the head of the press service of the Eastern Group of Forces.

According to Yevlash, Ukrainian defenders continue to establish themselves in the area and carry out stabilization actions, including demining. There is now intense fighting in the area near the railway line.

"This is a very important section for the Russians, as their supply arm is about 50-60 kilometers long. Everything beyond that is very difficult to provide logistically... At the moment, there is intense and fierce fighting in this direction. And we fight for every meter of our land. When it will be possible to finally inform about whose railway it is, we will definitely inform about it", Yevlash said.

We will remind, on September 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Klishchiivka, Donetsk region, from the Russian invaders.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: September 17th, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title

[Korrespondent] 21:19 Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar also confirmed the liberation of Kleshcheevka, but, according to her, the enemy is still trying to regain lost positions, so today we had to repel enemy attacks all day.

21:16 Crimean public pages write about explosions and fire in Sevastopol near Cape Fiolent. The publication Babel reports, citing sources, that the explosions in Sevastopol were a joint special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Navy. At Cape Fiolent, where the explosions were heard, the 26th Marine Radio Engineering Detachment is based, and there is also a radio engineering station with 12 radar antennas.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that air defense forces allegedly destroyed two Ukrainian aircraft-type drones over the southwestern part of Crimea.

20:33 Trump said that Ukraine could have avoided an escalation of the conflict with Russia if it had given up some of the territories: “They could have reached an agreement with the loss of territories on a smaller scale than Russia has already, let’s be honest, annexed. They could have reached a deal and no one would have died." Trump believes that such an agreement would allow the Ukrainian authorities to save the country.

20:29 Zelensky, in an evening video message, confirmed the liberation of Kleshcheevka and thanked the 80th brigade of the DShV, the 5th separate assault brigade, the 95th and the United assault brigade of the National Police Lyut.

19:38 The head of the OP Andrey Ermak said that Kleshcheevka is Ukraine, and thanked the soldiers for the de-occupation of Ukrainian land. At the same time, the General Staff did not report in the evening information about the liberation of Kleshcheevka. According to the General Staff, in the Bakhmut direction the Defense Forces successfully repelled five enemy attacks in the area of Kleshcheevka and Belaya Gora, and the Russian Army also tried to restore the lost position in the Andreevka area of the Donetsk region.

19:19 Soldiers of the 80th separate air assault brigade of the DShV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that Kleshcheevka, Donetsk region, has been finally liberated from the Russians. “But the enemy is constantly trying to inflict maximum damage on our soldiers and is using all possible means of fire,” the message says.

18:34 Finnish President Sauli Niinistö considers the risk of using nuclear weapons in Russia’s war against Ukraine “huge”: “We are in a very sensitive situation. Even little things can greatly change the situation, and, unfortunately, for the worse. This is the risk such a large-scale war. The risk of using nuclear weapons is enormous." He also defended the cautious policy of states such as the United States and Germany in the issue of providing Ukraine with this or that weapon, since they bear great responsibility for the development of the future situation.

17:50 The process of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters has “gained momentum” and has moved a lot, said Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat: “They ask a lot of questions about where, in what country, how many pilots and how many aircraft we get "Unfortunately, we cannot now answer these questions in such detail. Not every state wants to go into particular detail about the process that is taking place on its territory. I can only assure you that the process has really moved forward very seriously. It was not in place, but gained momentum. The pilots are studying and undergoing training."

17:37 Canada has allocated about $24 million to purchase for Ukraine “hundreds of short- and medium-range anti-aircraft missiles and related systems necessary to protect Ukraine’s critical national infrastructure,” Defense Minister Bill Blair said. The funds are allocated as part of a new $370 million military aid package to Ukraine, which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced during a visit to Kyiv in June.

The country's Ministry of Defense recalled that the total amount of Canadian assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation is more than $8 billion, of which more than $1.8 billion is military assistance.

17:22 The Russians fired artillery at the civilian infrastructure of the Velikopisarevsky community in the Sumy region - one person was killed, one was wounded, the prosecutor’s office reported.

15:13 The mayor of Kherson Igor Kolykhaev, who was considered missing, is in Russian captivity on the territory of the Russian Federation, his son reported, citing data from the Red Cross. It is unknown where exactly he is being held.

14:28 The International Court of Justice in The Hague resumes hearings on the claim of Ukraine against Russia under the Genocide Convention. Public hearings on Russia's preliminary objections will be held September 18-27. The hearings will be held in two rounds: the Russian Federation will speak on September 18 and 25, Ukraine - on September 19 and 27. The court will hold a hearing on jurisdiction, and if it finds that it has jurisdiction and that the claim is fully or partially admissible, then the next step will be to consider the merits of the case.

The dispute concerns the interpretation, application and implementation of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. In the lawsuit, Ukraine demands that the Russian Federation be held accountable for distorting the concept of “genocide,” because Moscow accused Kiev of the genocide that Ukraine allegedly committed in the Donbass starting in 2014, and used this as a basis for a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.

12:02 The drone fell on the territory of a logistics center in the Uzlovsky district of the Tula region, preliminary, no one was injured, regional authorities reported. The Russian Ministry of Defense also stated that a “Ukrainian drone” was intercepted over the territory of the Voronezh region.

Yevlash added that enemy losses in the East exceed Ukrainian losses by 7-8 times.

10:37 British intelligence reports that Russian troops are strengthening the defense of the strategically important city of Tokmak, Zaporozhye region. Around Tokmak, located about 16 kilometers from the current front line, the Russian military is setting up additional checkpoints and anti-tank fortifications, as well as digging new trenches in the area held by the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation. According to analysts, they are preparing to make Tokmak the core of the second main line of defense of the Russian Federation.

10:19 As a result of a night attack in the south of the Odessa region, the territory of the Berezovsky district was hit, agricultural infrastructure was damaged - land and a granary. No people were injured, said the head of the OVA, Oleg Kiper.

09:20 During his visit to Washington on September 21, Zelensky will not speak before Congress, but will visit the Capitol, where he will hold talks with small groups of congressmen, the Financial Times writes, citing sources. The publication notes that Zelensky will ask Biden for additional military assistance.

09:16 NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for preparations for a long war in Ukraine. According to him, "most wars last longer than expected at the beginning." He also spoke out against the truce and ceasefire: “The peace agreement should not serve as a respite for Russia to attack again. We can no longer allow Russia to jeopardize security in Europe.”

Stoltenberg noted that NATO is striving for a “quick peace,” but not at the cost of the disappearance of Ukraine. He also believes that "Ukraine will eventually be in NATO."

09:07 The head of the Kharkov OVA Oleg Sinegubov clarified that on Saturday, September 16, at about 11:10, the Russians attacked Kharkov with five Iskander K cruise missiles - buildings of civilian enterprises, private residential buildings were damaged, and fires occurred. Six people were injured. In addition, last night the enemy launched a missile attack on Kharkov with four S-300 guided missiles - they hit the building of a civilian enterprise and a fire occurred.

Over the past 24 hours, the enemy has shelled settlements in the Kharkov, Bogodukhovsky, Chuguevsky, Kupyansky and Izyumsky districts of the region. Between the villages of Glubokoe and Streleche, Kharkov region, the Russians struck a civilian vehicle with a guided anti-tank missile - two people were killed, one was wounded. As a result of the shelling of the village. Petropavlovka, Kupyansky district, one person was injured.

08:44 At night, air defense destroyed six out of ten enemy X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles and all six Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs , the Air Force command reported. The drones were launched from the south-eastern and southern directions (Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Chauda), the missiles were launched from nine Tu-95ms strategic aircraft from the Engels area. • ships/boats - 20 (+0),

  • submarines - 1 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tank trucks - 8537 (+12),

  • special equipment - 896 (+5).

07:59 Over the past 24 hours, more than 30 military clashes took place at the front, the Gestab reported in its morning report. In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled 13 enemy attacks in the Kleshcheevka area, and also did not allow them to break through the defenses in the Kurdyumovka and Andreevka areas of the Donetsk region. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are having success in the Kleshcheevka area and are pushing the enemy out of their positions.

In the Maryinsky direction, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to advance in the areas of Marinka, Severny, Rovnopol of the Donetsk region and Novodarovka of the Zaporozhye region. In the Avdeevsky, Maryinsky and Shakhtarsky directions, the Defense Forces hold the initiative and carry out assaults. In the Melitopol direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their offensive.

05:55 At night, Russia and Crimea were attacked by drones, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. In the Moscow region, two drones were allegedly destroyed - over the Istra and Domodedovo districts. Another four UAVs were allegedly destroyed over the northwestern and eastern coasts of Crimea.

Governor of the Oryol region Andrei Klychkov said that another drone fell at night on a “non-residential object” in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Oryol. Russian telegram channels report that an oil depot in the Oryol region caught fire after a drone attack. Social networks publish footage of the fire and report that, according to preliminary data, a tank with a flammable liquid is burning.

03:48 Four Republican senators wrote an open letter to Biden, calling for the immediate transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine. According to Senators Roger Wicker, Tom Cotton, Suzanne Collins and Lindsey Graham, further delay would further undermine US national security interests and continue the war.

Senators insist that the provision of ATACMS will allow Ukraine to strike key Russian logistics and communications facilities, as well as cruise missile and drone launch sites in occupied territory. In addition, the provision of missiles will maximize the likelihood of success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces counter-offensive and subsequent operations.

Ukrainian Armed Forces are consistently advancing - Milli
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces' counter-offensive is slower than expected, but it is "consistent"
Ukrainian defenders are gradually liberating Russian-occupied territories in the south and east of our country.

The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “did not fail”, but was consistent. The head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, said this on Sunday, September 17, in an interview with CNN.

"They didn't fail. There are comments that somehow this offensive failed, but it didn't fail," Milley said.

He emphasized that there were some successes and “Ukraine has great combat strength.”

However, Milley said the counteroffensive was progressing more slowly than expected.

Defense forces liberated the village of Klishchievka in the Bakhmut direction of the Donetsk region.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, assured that the weather will not stop the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces . According to him, the Ukrainian counter-offensive will continue after the onset of cold and wet weather, even when the cold makes it more difficult to conduct military operations.

20:30 Statement of Head of the press center of the "South" group:

Aviation from the “Southern” group of forces destroyed the unit’s temporary deployment point and an armored combat vehicle of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Seversk and Novgorod, and defeated the manpower of the attacking units and armored vehicles of the 110th Mechanized Brigade in Andreevka and Kleshcheevka.

The group’s artillery destroyed a temporary deployment point for an assault unit of the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a control center for unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as two vehicles in Verkhnekamensky, Chasov Yar, Kleshcheevka, Krasnogorovka and Nevelskoye.

The enemy lost two Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery mounts in Seversk and Predtechino, as well as three 120-caliber mortars in Verkhnekamensky, Avdeevka, and Georgievka.

Crews of the Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems destroyed the platoon stronghold of the 3rd assault battalion of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade in the Andrevka area.

Kamikaz drones destroyed the 152mm Msta-B howitzer in Zvanovka.

19:20 Vremevsky section situation as of 18.00 September 17, 2023

At the moment, after unsuccessful attempts to attack and gain a foothold in positions in the area of the villages of Novomayorskoye and Novodonetskoye, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have switched to defense and positional warfare in order to rotate and replenish the assault groups.

According to Voin DV, in the area north of Novomayorsky, the enemy from the 35th Infantry Brigade was forced to retreat due to loss of combat capability. For the same reason, one of the battalions of the 110th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was completely withdrawn from the combat zone and replaced by units of the 127th TrO brigade.

Russian artillerymen are striking at concentrations of personnel and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Prechistovka and Zolotaya Niva in order to disrupt the restoration and rotation of Ukrainian formations.

At the same time, from Urozhainy, the enemy launched unsuccessful attacks on the positions of Russian units in Staromayorskoye, which were entrenched on the southwestern outskirts of the village.

Ukrainian formations made similar attempts to improve their tactical position in forest plantations in the Priyutnoye area. However, the enemy did not advance in this area either.

18:40 Statement of Head of the press center of the Vostok group:

In the South Donetsk direction, advanced units of the Vostok group of troops, with artillery support, thwarted an attempt to rotate units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Novodonetsk area.

As a result of offensive actions, two groups of Ukrainian Armed Forces infantry north of Priyutnoye and north-west of Staromayorsky were eliminated. Pick-up trucks carrying nationalists in Konstantinovka and Uglesborochnaya were destroyed by artillery fire.

During the counterbattery fight, mortar crews were destroyed west of Makarovka, north of Vladimirovka, in Ugledar and north of Nikol'skoye.

Bomber, attack and army aviation hit places where Ukrainian troops and equipment accumulated in the areas of Prechistovka, Urozhayny, and Staromayorsky.

17:30 Telegram-channel “Rybar”: another raid of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Crimea

At night, Ukrainian formations again launched six drones in the direction of the Crimean peninsula. The takeoff of the drones was recorded by units of the PMC "Bears" at around 21.00 from the north of Zaporozhye/southern Dnepropetrovsk regions

After midnight, the UAVs flew to Crimea, bypassing air defense detection areas in new Russian territories. The first three UAVs were shot down by crews of the 31st Air Force and Air Defense Divisions near Portovoy and Cape Tarkhankut.

Another one was destroyed on approach to the Kirovsky airfield (it had already become a target of the Ukrainian Armed Forces more than once), and two more were hit over Feodosia. Judging by the area where the debris fell, Ukrainian formations tried to strike the oil depot again.

One of the drones discovered near the power facility vaguely resembles drones manufactured by the Ukrjet company. Based on the visual outline, it can be assumed that this is something similar to the UJ-22 Airborne or UJ-31 Zlyva.

Russian air defense units coped with the attack, but the raid itself was small in number and more like testing the air defense before a more massive attack.

16:50 Armed Forces of Ukrainetriedattack the strategic Shaikovka airfield in the Kaluga region, writes Mash.

According to Mash, the kamikaze drone was intercepted and destroyed by Mi-28 helicopters. No damage or casualties were reported.

16:30 A new type of war. A fighter from one of the special forces, armed with the people's kamikaze "Ghoul" drones, literally sneaks on a drone through the bushes and hits the enemy's dugout. Watch the video and appreciate both the skill of the Special Forces fighter and what the “Ghoul” from the Ural masters from the “Turned in War” team is capable of in capable hands.

The drone, already assembled on an almost industrial scale, without a penny of government or sponsorship funds, created exclusively thanks to subscribers of tg channels, has turned into one of the most effective tools of war. Now the “Ghoul” reached the Svatovo-Kremennaya front, destroying the dugout of the 66th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces -video.

15:35 Telegram channel “Fisherman“: repeated strike by the Russian Armed Forces in the area of the tank repair plant in Kharkov

At night, around 01.00 local time, Russian troops launched a second strike with four missiles on the outskirts of the Khar'kov Armored Plant (KhBTZ). The targets of the attack were two workshops of a reinforced concrete products plant located nearby.

In the first building on Bol'shaya Panasovskaya, 218, a large ammunition depot was hit: within 20 minutes after the arrival and the start of the fire, rounds continued to detonate and fragments scattered.

In the second building at Bol'shaya Panasovskaya, 220 there was a parking lot for equipment, mainly trucks. They were also destroyed.

This is the second attack in the vicinity of the enterprise in a day: on the morning of September 16, the Russian Armed Forces accurately hit one of the two workshops of the main production activity at the KhBTZ, and also accurately hit the parking lot of armored vehicles in the building of the reinforced concrete plant.

Both facilities were truly of great importance to the enemy: the first had been constantly repairing tanks since the spring of 2022, and the second was used as a storage facility for repaired armored vehicles before being loaded at the railway station for shipment to the front line. As it turned out, there was also an ammunition depot there.

Separately, it is worth noting the extremely competent approach of the Russian Armed Forces to the destruction of these targets. At least two missiles were allocated to each target, and after additional reconnaissance, Russian troops promptly launched a second strike, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces simply did not expect.

And although this required greater scrupulousness and consumption of ammunition, the result of the attack fully justified all the costs

On the Zaporozhye Front, well-aimed strikes from FPV drones destroy vehicles and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

14:30 Arrival of aerial bombs and “Solntsepyok” rounds at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces between the settlements of Rabotino and Novoprokopovka -video.

13:20 Statement of Head of the press center of the “West” group:

During the fighting in the Kupyansk direction, the crews of the Ka-52 and Mi-28 attack helicopters and the attack aircraft of the West group of forces carried out twelve missile and bomb attacks on the accumulation of manpower, weapons and military equipment of the 95th Air Assault, 25th Airborne, 14th Mechanized brigades and territorial defense units in the area of the settlements of Sin'kovka, Berestovoe, Nadiya.

During the counterbattery fight, the group’s artillery destroyed the M109 “Paladin” self-propelled artillery mount, the M777 towed howitzer, the 122mm 2S1 “Gvozdika” self-propelled artillery mount, and a mortar crew in the area of the settlements of Peschanoe, Novosinovoye, Krakhmal'noye, and Novaya Kruglyakovka.

In addition, the reconnaissance and attack squad used Lancet loitering ammunition to destroy the AN/TPQ-48 counterbattery radar station in the Maly Burluk area.

The total enemy losses amounted to two platoons of manpower and four UAVs.

12:40 Our guys are on the right flank of the Artyomovsky direction have taken six military officers prisoner.

The boys say that they are from an anti-tank platoon, but their commanders threw them into a night attack as attack aircraft. The result is logical - two died immediately, the rest made the right decision, and our people saved them from mortar fire from their former “brothers.”

DPRK rocket artillery as a prospect for Russia
[Militarnyi UA] What's in North Korea's cookie jar?
The DPRK has been making money from the sale of rocket artillery systems to various totalitarian regimes for many decades and Russia will unlikely be an exception.

The North Korean military-industrial complex is engaged in production of rocket launchers, as well as 107-mm, 122-mm, 200-mm, 240-mm, 300-mm and even 600-mm rockets.

On September 13, Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin met at the Vostochny Cosmodrome. At the meeting, with high probability, the leaders of the two countries agreed on the supply of military goods that would be sent to war against Ukraine.
North Korea, hmmm? Are their weapons more likely to kill the holder or the target?

Sovcomfleet (largest Russian oil/gas tanker fleet) reports highest profits in 20 years
[JohnHelmer] The US-led sanctions war against Russian fossil fuel exports, especially oil, has been the best thing to have happened to Sovcomflot, Russia’s leading shipping company and operator of the world’s largest oil and gas tanker fleets.

Revenues are up, earnings and profits are multiplying; Sovcomflot has never had so much cash in the bank; its debt is down to the lowest level in more than twenty years – and none of it is in American or European bank hands.

Released on August 28 and expressed in discreet language, the new company financial report says: “Revenues from tanker business segments (transportation of crude oil and petroleum products) are supported by favourable market conditions against the background of increased demand for tanker tonnage, taking into account the changing geography of international trade in oil and petroleum products. Despite the presence of a seasonal reduction in freight rates in the summer, the company believes that the market fundamentals, including the limited growth of the global tanker fleet due to the small number of orders for the construction of new vessels, suggests a high probability of stability in the medium term of freight rates at a level above the historically average.”

“Favourable market conditions” is Sovcomflot’s phrase for the US and NATO sanctions, first imposed on Sovcomflot’s financing and payment operations in February 2022, and escalated this year in European Union (EU) and UK sanctions targeting Dubai and Hong Kong fleet management companies. The reference to “changing geography” means what shipping experts and analysts from London to Oslo, Piraeus to Singapore acknowledge privately: “The war is good, very good for the oil tanker companies which can run the gauntlet of the Americans”, says a Greek source. The international shipping media are fearful of reporting this publicly.

#2  One would hope revenue and profits are up since the Russians can't ship pipeline oil to Europe, their ex-largest market.

Instead the Russians ship to India "free" oil. Rupees are useless in international trade and the Russians can't spend it in India. The Indians then refine the crude and sell it for hard currency in Asia and even Europe, probably on the same broke ass tankers that brought the free crude to India. Profit!

Thread on US and Euro 155mm ammo ramp
[X thread] The United States + just 6 of the many European artillery ammo makers will ramp up to over 2.5 million 155mm arty rounds per year. For reference this is a single country and 6 companies. (There are dozens of other company’s making artillery ammo that can go to Ukraine)

US said that the West is not able to give Ukraine enough shells

Western countries cannot supply the amount of ammunition required by the Kyiv regime. The American television channel CNN reported this on September 17.

“Nearly 18 months later, a significant gap remains between the number of shells Ukraine wants and how quickly European and American factories can deliver them,” the article says.

Трансфер из аэропорт Хельсинки в Санкт-Петербурга в 2023
It is noted that Russia, despite international sanctions, produces artillery ammunition much faster than the West. At the same time, Western countries, unlike Russia, have not yet learned to produce cheap and standardized shells on a large scale.

As Regnum reported, Atlantic columnist Kori Sheik wrote that in the event of a large-scale war, the United States would run out of ammunition in a few weeks, and would have enough weapons for less than seven days. She emphasized that arms supplies to Ukraine do not play a role in this case, since they are insignificant. According to her, the United States does not have enough ammunition in stock to respond in the event of a large-scale military conflict.

Unfortunately, this isn't too far off. Towards the end of the cold war, we could probably have made it thirty days, and then the cupboards would have been bare. Now....7-10 days for PGMs, maybe enough straight ammo for three weeks. Then we're done.

#5  Whose army is gonna march across the Atlantic or Pacific? AFAIK, the US Army hasn't released the size of its artillery stockpile. The only number I saw (can't vouch for accuracy) was 7.5 million cluster shells. 5.5 million for the US and 2 million held in reserve for allies. Then there the stockpiles of the US Air Force, Navy and Marines.

Hearings on Kyiv's genocide lawsuit against Russia will begin in The Hague
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] On September 18, the International Court of Justice in The Hague will begin hearings on the claim of Ukraine against Russia for violation of the genocide convention in connection with the special operation.

Court hearings are scheduled from September 18 to 27. A block of meetings is devoted to preliminary objections put forward by Russia.

From the court materials it follows that on September 18, representatives of Russia will speak, and the next day Ukraine will give the floor.

Other states will subsequently hear, including Germany, Australia, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Sweden, Bulgaria, Canada and the Netherlands.

As Regnum reported, the decision of the International Court of Justice to admit 32 countries to the proceedings between Ukraine and Russia under the Genocide Convention disappointed Moscow. All admitted countries take a pro-Ukrainian position, despite the fact that Kiev’s accusations are absurd, according to a statement published on June 10 on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On February 26, 2022, Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Russia with the International Court of Justice regarding the implementation of the 1048 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. At the same time, Kiev denies the ongoing genocide in Donbass, because of which Russia had to launch a special military operation. Kyiv is also demanding that the court recognize that Russia has no legal grounds for action against Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the lawsuit based on “perverted logic” and emphasized that the collective West is abusing the norms of international justice.

Among the countries that joined Ukraine's claim are mainly EU and NATO states.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba works for the public when he talks about complaints against Russia to the International Court of Justice. This was stated by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the international organization Dmitry Polyansky .

On June 1, Kuleba said that Ukraine had appealed to the International Court of Justice with another accusation against Russia. Allegedly, Moscow violated the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine. However, he did not specify what kind of violation he was talking about.

Ukraine's drone attacks on Crimea, Moscow thwarted – MoD
[RT] Kiev’s troops sought to launch about a dozen drone strikes targeting various Russian regions, the defense ministry said in a statement on Sunday, adding that all the attacks were successfully prevented by the nation’s air defenses.

Crimea has emerged as the most targeted region in Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strike attempts over the past 24 hours, according to the ministry. In the early hours on Sunday, a total of four Ukrainian UAVs were intercepted over the peninsula, the statement said. On Sunday evening, Kiev’s forces launched three more drones in two attacks in about an hour, it said, adding that all of them were shot down.

Moscow also faced two Ukrainian drone attacks in the night on Sunday and in the early morning, the Russian military have said, adding that both UAVs were downed over the western and south-eastern parts of the Moscow region and failed to reach the Russian capital.

Russia’s Belgorod and Voronezh region also saw one attempted Ukrainian drone attack each over the past 24 hours, the Defense Ministry stated. Each of these attacks involved just one Ukrainian UAV, it said, adding that the drones were successfully intercepted in both cases. The Belgorod Region borders Ukraine’s Kharkov Region in the south and the Voronezh Region is located next to the Lugansk People’s Republic that join Russia in autumn 2022 together with three other former Ukrainian territories following a series of referendums.

The Ukrainian forces have repeatedly targeted various Russian regions, including its capital, with its drone attacks over the past months. Moth UAVs ended up either being shot down or crashing due to signal-jamming.

This seems to be a pattern of this "war". Ukraine unveils a new Western Wunderwaffe. For a time it succeeds, and Ukrainians (and their American cheerleaders) shout themself hoarse. And then, the primitive Russians develop effective countermeasures. I don't wonder about Ukrainians (700 years of brain-drain), or American Politicians, but don't some USA military analysts understand that letting Russians cope with USA military tech in this piecemeal fashion is putting America's balls on an anvil?
