30 arrested, nearly $500,000 in cash and drugs seized in Lorain County raids
[Cleveland.com] ELYRIA, Ohio -- Police in Elyria, Lorain and Sheffield Lake arrested 30 people and confiscated nearly a $500,000 in illegal drugs and cash last week in raids on a dozen houses, police said Wednesday morning.

The 12 raids were conducted Friday and served as the culmination of a weeks-long investigation into a suspected Lorain County cocaine ring. More arrests are expected in the coming days.

Christopher Craig, 43, and Bernard Washington, 44, both of Cleveland, are accused of bringing cocaine into Lorain County from the Cleveland area and selling it to a network of distributors and drug dealers.

Ms. Robinson had some misgivings about her daughter's pick for a husband.
[Daily News] In a Chicago TV interview that aired during Obama's 2004 U.S. Senate campaign -- and newly resurrected by Michelle Obama biographer Peter Slevin in a book due out next month -- Marion Robinson confessed to being "a little bit" wary about her future son-in-law being the product of a white mom and black dad.

British Airways flight to Dubai forced to return to Heathrow Airport after 'smelly poo in the toilet' becomes unbearable for passengers
A town councillor from Hertfordshire says a British Airways flight to Dubai was forced to return to London due to a foul odour emanating from an overflowing toilet.

Hertsmere councillor Abhishek Sachdev, who represents Potters Bar Parkfield, said the seven-hour flight was aborted €˜because of a smelly poo in the toilet'.

Cabin crew were unable to fix the problem and the smell became unbearable for passengers seated nearby, forcing the plane to turn around near Brussels and land at Heathrow Airport.

Saudi Arabia beheads Syrian national on drug trafficking charges
[Iran Press TV] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The convicted Syrian, identified as Firas Mohammed al-Kor, was beheaded on Wednesday in the northwestern region of Jawf, the Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency.

The man was found guilty of smuggling amphetamines into Saudi Arabia, the ministry added.

New Ukrainian law may provoke more war

Rantburg.com

Three days after the deadline that said Ukraine must pass a law governing a "special status" for some regions in southeastern Ukraine, Ukrainian president Piotr Poroshenko signed a new law which Russian backed rebels say violates the latest ceasefire, known colloquially as Minsk II, according to Russian language sources.

As the March 15 deadline loomed -- then passed -- Donetsk president Aleksandr Zakharchenko said that "nature loves threes", implying that Donetsk and Lugansk rebels may be planning a new defensive aimed at destroying concentrations of Ukrainian troops and supplies similar to the recently concluded Debaltsevo operation. The Debaltsevo operation, like the Ilovaisk operation which was concluded last August, was the second battle of rebel troops against Ukrainian who were surrounded and destroyed.

The Debaltsevo battle ended with Ukrainian dead numbering into the thousands, and captured ammunition and fuel supplies numbering into the thousands of tons, essentially wiping the equivalent of three combat brigades from the situation map as the Ukrainian general staff in Kiev simply sat by and watched.

The new law, designated as Law 256-VIII "On Amendments to Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine", says that local elections will be conducted under the auspices of the Ukrainians, and that "special status" will be granted only after those elections are held.

According to a news account which appeared in regnum.ru, the new law violates the Minsk II agreement because "special status" was not granted immediately after the ceasefire, and that the Ukrainian constitutional reform has not been addressed, which would make Ukraine a federation, similar to how Russian governs its regions.

A federation reform would give the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk autonomous status without giving them independence, or without driving them into becoming part of the Russian Federation.

Throughout the war, those three possible outcomes -- autonomy, independence and joining the Russian Federation -- have been the subject of intense online debate amongst supporters of the two breakaway republics. Since many supporters of the rebels' efforts in Donetsk and Lugansk are Russian and nearly every military commander in Donetsk and Lugansk are either Russian or Russian prior service military, it seems that moving into the Russian Federation is the preferred status, despite the rebels' protests about Ukrainian "provocations".

Since the new agreement went into force last February 12th Donbas rebels have been making much of their efforts to move heavy weapons back from the line of contact, while Ukrainian forces continue to keep their artillery sited where they can hit rebel positions.

Three main points along the line of contact have been the most active, with Shirokino being the most active of all.

Since before the end of the Debaltsevo operations, according to rebel media, Ukrainian artillery have been pounding rebel positions in and around Shirokino, oftentimes for hours.

Shirokino is a Sea of Azov coastal town between Mariupol and the Russian border. It has been in rebel hands since last fall.

Since it is a forward zone of rebel troops, it has been the focus of Ukrainian artillery fire, even during the current ceasefire. Mariupol is also a forard zone for the Ukrainians, but rebel claim as many as 300 fighters have infiltrated into the city, and have been awaiting orders since February 25th.

Fighting in Shirokinio has intensified since then, in one instance, with Ukrainian forces rolling in tanks to within 400 meters for rebel positions, and using them to cover infantry, who then deploy heavy machine guns and are supported by artillery fire.

On Tuesday Donetsk Ministry of Defense spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said that a Ukrainian tank opened fire on a truck destroying it and killing two militia.

Rebel media also reports that Ukrainian medium and heavy artillery have been hitting some sectors of Doentsk city, including the Kievskiy district, as well as the Krasnogvardeysk district of Makeyevka, and in Spartak and Peski, which is north of Donetsk city.

Much of the Ukrainian artillery has been hitting residential sectors in Donetsk, but no civilian casualties have been reported owing to the fact many of those districts have been abandoned because of artillery fire.

Europe
Protesters, police clash near new European bank HQ in Frankfurt
[Hurriyet Daily News] Anti-capitalist protesters clashed with riot police near the new headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt on March 18 and set fire to barricades and cars, casting a pall over the ceremonial opening of the billion-euro skyscraper.

Nearly 90 police were maimed by stones and unidentified liquids hurled by a violent minority from within the thousands-strong protest, police said. Some protesters said they were maimed when police used pepper spray.

Seven police cars were set on fire, streets were blocked by burning stacks of tires and rubbish bins, and shops were damaged in the city center. Dark smoke billowed in front of the ECB towers and across central Frankfurt.

Police used water cannon to try to make a path through the mass of black-clad protesters to the entrance of the building, blocked off from the street by police barricades. Five people were detained and others taken into custody for questioning.

'How could I stop him raping me?' 15-year-old girl asks judge
[Hurriyet Daily News] A 15-year-old girl from central The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, who was allegedly raped by eight teenagers three years ago, has sent a letter to the judge who acquitted all suspects on the grounds that she had "given consent," according to media reports on March 16.

"I was only 15 years old and I weighed 38 kg. I did not have enough force to resist him," the girl, identified only by the initials Z.C., wrote in a letter to the judge in the Central Anatolian province of Karaman, according to daily Aksam.

On March 13, the court acquitted all eight suspects, aged between 15 and 17, stating that the sexual relations were based on consent. The verdict has created a public outcry in Turkey.

"Both yourself and the police accused me. You asked why I didn't resist him. The man was three times heavier than me. How can you compare a man's force with mine?" she wrote in the letter, addressed to "Uncle Judge."

Z.C. was not able to testify at the court, reportedly due to the trauma.

"I attempted to commit suicide but I did not succeed. This is my last statement. I will not come to your court, which does not believe me and mocks me. I leave you with your justice and your conscience," she added, also describing himself as "the walking dead."

Lone bank robber flees in a rickshaw
[DAWN] An armed robber on Tuesday took away over half a million rupees from a private bank in Clifton after shooting at its guard, while two other guards did not put up any resistance, police said.

The Faysal Bank branch, situated in a small shop near Schon Circle, was struck a little before noon by the robber who took away the money in a rickshaw.

An official at the Boat Basin cop shoppe said the robber entered the branch at 11.30am after shooting at the guard, Abdul Aziz, and asked the cashier to give him the money at the counter. While two other guards posted there did not challenge him, the robber collected Rs628,000 and fled in a rickshaw by holding its driver hostage at gunpoint.

"The bank was set up in a small shop, which did not follow any SOP issued by the State Bank of Pakistain," said SSP Farooq Awan of the Special Investigation Unit of police. It was impossible to set up a bunker in the 8x8-foot room, he said.

"The CCTV recording system was ineffective as it was without a hard disk," the officer added.

Referring to a meeting between police, bank security heads and security firm representatives last week, the SIU SSP said they had told the bank officials to at least install such doors which jewellers had at their shops to avoid robberies.

OECD warns of global economic woes after growth
[Iran Press TV] The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has warned of fresh global economic woes following a period of mild growth.

The falling price of oil and low interest rates have sparked modest global economic growth but pose risks to financial stability, the OECD said Wednesday.

Revising its November forecast upward by 0.1 percent, the Gay Paree-based thinktank said it expected aggregate growth among major global economies to be 4 percent in 2015. It also revised upward by 0.2 percent its outlook for 2016, to 4.3 percent.

But OECD chief economist Catherine Mann warned of lagging employment and said that abnormally low inflation and interest rates could lead to financial instability, DPA reported.

"An excessive reliance on monetary policy alone is building up financial risks, while not yet reviving business investment," Mann said.

"A more balanced policy approach is needed, making full use of fiscal and structural reforms, as well as monetary policy, to ensure sustainable growth and public finances over the long term."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
NYT's boxers panties in total 'wad up' over Bibi election victory.
[Thomas Friedman - NYT] Well, it's pretty clear now: Benjamin Netanyahu is going to be a major figure in Israeli history -- not because he's heading to become the longest-serving Israeli prime minister, but because he's heading to be the most impactful. Having won the Israeli elections -- in part by declaring that he will never permit a two state-solution between Israelis and Palestinians -- it means Netanyahu will be the father of the one-state solution. And the one-state solution means that Israel will become, in time, either a non-Jewish democracy or Jewish non-democracy.

Yes, sir, Bibi is going to make history. And the leader in the world who is most happy that Netanyahu ran on -- and won on -- a one-state solution is the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Oh, my goodness. They must have been doing high-fives and "Allahu akbars" all night in the ruling circles of Tehran when they saw how low Bibi sank to win. What better way to isolate Israel globally and deflect attention from Iran's behavior?
A near landslide election victory and the obvious will of the Israeli people are of little concern to the author, or other leftist progressives.

#10  There must be some rational explanation why the polls got this election so wrong. My guess is that the polls assumed that the Arab vote would go mostly to the Arab party, and based their assessments only on Jewish voters. And I believe there was a big Arab vote for Bibi; Israeli Arabs are realists and do not trust the Left.

Government
Whistle-Blower: State Department Employees Who Don't Sign Separation Agreement Face Dire Consequences
[Daily Caller] Psaki said that it does not appear that Clinton signed the document when she left the agency. She added that it does not appear that Clinton's predecessors, Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell, signed the exit document either.

Though signing OF-109 is listed in the Foreign Affairs Manual as one of the requirements outgoing employees must fulfill before leaving the agency, Psaki sought to downplay the issue.

"We're not aware of any penalty for not signing it," she told reporters. "It's not a violation of any rule."
Your retirement check will begin arriving immediately following completion of the investigation.
"It's not clear that this form is used as a part of a standard part of checkout across the federal government or even at the State Department," she continued. "We're looking into how standard this is across the federal government and certainly at the State Department."

But Higbie strongly disputed that claim, saying that while it may not have consequences for officials like Clinton, career agents have to sign the form.

"You don't have a choice," he told TheDC. "They will not give you your retirement benefits if you don't sign the separation agreement."

Higbie, a 17-year veteran of the agency who works as a criminal investigator, spoke to TheDC about the agency's double-standards regarding how top-level officials versus career employees are treated.

"There's a big distinction between a secretary appointed for four years and specialist government employees or full-time department employees," Higbie said. Full-time employees "have to sign the [agreement]," he said.

"If you don't sign the separation agreement any pay that's coming to you, any retirement benefits or anything you put into 401ks, none of that's going to come to you if you don't sign the separation agreement," Higbie said.

The ramifications for not signing OF-109 can go beyond even that, Higbie claims.

"If you don't do the separation agreement they can then initiate investigations as to why you're not doing that," he said.

"And further, if you don't sign that agreement not only can you not get your benefits they can then look at proceeding with a termination from you versus a separation from you because you didn't complete the required steps of separation."

TheDC filed a Freedom of Information Act request last week for OF-109 records for Clinton and several of her top aides.
More evidence rules and regulations are for the little people.
