Man bites dog
[NYPOST] A drunk Delaware man bit a police dog "multiple times" while trying to evade arrest Saturday, according to officials.

Jamal Wing, 47, allegedly launched the beastly attack after State Police pulled him over in a Wilmington parking lot at 1:40 a.m. for speeding on an area highway.

Wing then jumped out of the car "without being told" and refused troopers’ commands to get back inside the vehicle, the officials allege.

The troopers sicked their K9 on Wing while trying to arrest him, but the Wilmington man reportedly chomped back.

"Wing continued to resist and bit the DSP K9 multiple times." the department said in a statement.

After troopers were finally able to subdue the retaliating man, they claim they smelled alcohol on his breath and noticed signs of impairment.

Wing suffered multiple injuries in the scuffle — including a gash above his left eye — and was transported to an area hospital, where he allegedly continued his struggle for escape.

"Two troopers and K9 Mako were maimed by Wing and required medical evaluation at an area hospital," the department said.

Wing was released from the hospital and charged with a slew of offenses, including assaulting the K9 and its two officers, driving under the influence, resisting arrest with force, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, failure to have required license and speeding in excess.

He is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $34,200 cash bond.

California 'serial killer' — likened to Ted Bundy — arrested in slayings of three Mexican prostitutes
[NYPOST] A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, man and suspected serial killer was arrested Thursday, more than a year after he allegedly killed three hookers prostitutes sex workers
...the oldest profession was legal (though not always unregulated) for thousands and perhaps even millions of years. That never has made it something most people want their daughters doing...
in a Mexican border city.
File under "waste not want not." Evil bastard!
Bryant "Eduardo" Rivera, 30, was busted outside Los Angeles and will be extradited in the coming days to Baja California, where he will be charged in a murder spree that spanned six months, according to the State Attorney General’s Office.

US authorities were acting on an extradition request from Mexican Sherlocks, who had been hunting for the man they called a "serial killer" since November 2022.

"We will apply all the legal and technological instruments necessary to find those responsible for any crime, particularly those considered for gender reasons, so with a strong hand we will seek to bring all those criminals to justice, even when they try to evade it by hiding in another country," Baja California Prosecutor Ricardo Iván Carpio Sánchez said in a statement.

Carpio added that Rivera has displayed "violent mostly peaceful and psychopathic behavior."

Though Rivera is wanted for three murders in Mexico, US officials have only charged him with one femicide, a federal complaint shows.

Investigators believe the California man strangled sex worker Ángela Carolina Acosta Flores to death on January 24, 2022 inside a hotel room next to the Tijuana bar where he had picked her up.

Rivera had been frequenting the Hong Kong Bar for several months, and had allegedly already killed at least one other hooker who worked there before murdering Flores.

Ben and Jerry’s sees boycott call after July 4 appeal to return ’stolen indigenous land’
[IsraelTimes] Parent company Unilever loses nearly $2 billion worth of stock since announcement; Native American tribe whose land company’s HQ is built on expresses interest in its return

Ben & Jerry’s faced calls for a boycott this week after it called on the United States to return "stolen indigenous land" in a tweet sent to mark the country’s Independence Day.

It is not the first time the ice cream company has sparked controversy for its activism. An attempted boycott of West Bank settlements in 2021 drew charges of antisemitism and resulted in a deal allowing the Israeli branch of Ben & Jerry’s to operate independently.

"The United States was founded on stolen indigenous land. This Fourth of July, let’s commit to returning it," Ben & Jerry’s tweeted Monday, on the eve of celebrations.

In response, social media users called for a boycott and compared the situation to the controversy surrounding Bud Light’s recent partnership with transgender social media personality Dylan Stench of Death Mulvaney
...the transexual influencer who single-handedly trashed a major American beer brand owned by a Belgian company, tainted Maybelline and Condé Nast, and then demanded that anybody who called him/her/it a man be arrested...
— which also sparked calls for a boycott.

Ben & Jerry’s parent company, Unilever, has lost nearly $2 billion in its publicly traded stocks since the announcement.

Don Stevens, a chief of the Abenaki tribe that owned the land the company’s headquarters was built on told Newsweek they are "always interested in reclaiming the stewardship of our lands," but that Ben & Jerry’s have not contacted them.

According to the Vermont Commission on Native American Affairs website, the Abenaki nation existed on the land of present-day Vermont, where the company is based, for 12,900 years.

Last year, Ben & Jerry’s announced a boycott of "occupied Paleostinian territory." The decision sparked massive financial blowback for Unilever, as US states enacted anti-BDS divestment laws, pulling hundreds of millions of dollars in investments from the conglomerate.

Ben & Jerry’s Israel and its parent company Unilever struck a deal earlier this year that would see branding rights fall to the local Ben & Jerry’s franchise, disconnecting it from the global brand.

The US branch of Ben & Jerry’s then launched a lawsuit in an attempt to block the deal, claiming it would represent a threat to their branding. Unilever said it had resolved its dispute with Ben & Jerry’s in December without specifying the terms of the agreement. The case had appeared to be going against Ben & Jerry’s before the deal was announced.

The Jewish founders of Ben & Jerry’s, who no longer run the company, have said Unilever "usurped their authority" by spinning off the Israel branch.

The case has illustrated the pitfalls of progressive corporate activism.
To be fair, this kind of thing used not be be risky at all, but conservative consumers have been feeling frisky since President Trump came along.

#2  On Friday, Don Stevens — chief of the Nulhegan Band of The Coosuk Abenaki Nation, one of four tribes descended from the Abenaki that are recognized in Vermont — told The Post in an interview that he “looks forward to any kind of correspondence with the brand to see how they can better benefit Indigenous people.”

Stevens added that if the ice cream maker is “sincere,” it should reach out to him as the company’s corporate headquarters — located at 30 Community Dr. in South Burlington, Vt. — is situated on Western Abanaki land.

NYC council members blame 'lack of enforcement' on shoplifting after CVS worker allegedly killed serial thief
[NYPOST] New York City council members from both sides of the aisle blamed "lack of enforcement" after a CVS worker stabbed to death a serial shoplifter in Manhattan — a less than subtle dig at Manhattan’s liberal District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
My solution would be to appoint justices of the peace to handle petty crime like this. The JP hears the case, imposes a fine, keeps half for his income. New York's got enough lawyers to have a JP on every block, or maybe in every store.
The furor erupted in the hours after Scotty Enoe, 46, fatally knifed serial thief Charles Brito, 50, after being punched early Thursday, making it the latest in a disturbing string of self-defense killings in recent months.
As ‘tis said, the purpose of effective law enforcement is to protect criminals from angry citizens.
"I’m sorry the man died.
Why?
But I cannot exist in a world where we pretend that endemic theft without consequence can continue in perpetuity," fumed Minority Leader Joe Borelli on Friday.

"Can Alvin Bragg maybe help with that? These aren’t exactly capers, he just chooses not to prosecute and we end up with vigilante justice."

New York’s lax laws eliminated bail for most crimes, including petit larceny.

Brito, who had 16 prior arrests mostly for petit larceny, had been out free to continue his shoplifting spree when he was killed.

Megan Rapinoe to retire at end of 2023, play in final World Cup for USWNT
[NYPost] Teenage boys who defeated her team aren't scared. Subway reports gain in stocks
This will be the last "ride" for Megan Rapinoe.

The USWNT superstar and women’s soccer icon announced Saturday that she will retire following the 2023 NWSL season and that the 2023 World Cup will be her last.

"I’ve been able to have such an amazing career, and this game has brought me all over the world and allowed me to meet so many amazing people," Rapinoe said in a statement released by U.S. Soccer.

"I feel incredibly grateful to have played as long as I have, to be as successful as we’ve been, and to have been a part of a generation of players who undoubtedly left the game better than they found it.

"To be able to play one last World Cup and one last NWSL season and go out on my own terms is incredibly special.

"I want to thank my family for being by my side all these years. Thanks to all my teammates and coaches all the way back to my first days in Redding, on to college at the University of Portland and of course thanks to U.S. Soccer, the Seattle Reign an especially Sue [Bird] for everything.

"I will forever cherish the friendship and support over the years in this game and I am beyond excited for one last ride with the National Team and the Reign."

The NWSL regular season ends in October.

Wallaby on the loose in Oklahoma!
[NYPOST] A baby wallaby is on the loose in Oklahoma after a dog set him free, the animals’ owner said.
Not a wallaby, but close.

Roo, a 1-year-old marsupial, has evaded recapture since escaping his backyard enclosure in Blanchard, a city 30 miles south of Oklahoma City, Wednesday morning, according to city officials.

The 4-foot-tall wallaby may have jumped over the fence, but owner Gil Gilbreath thinks it more likely Roo hopped out of its open gate.

“It’s a chain link gate and I guess a dog must have hit the latch,” Gilbreath told Fox 25.

“I have a dog that likes to play with him through the fence.”

Roo had been living inside the backyard petting zoo, where Gilbreath said the animal typically acted friendly, though shy and “a little skittish.”

Neighbors have spotted Roo hopping through Blanchard in the last three days, but have not come close to the escape artist.

Gilbreath said he’s still working to tame the animal and as a result, “he’s going to be hard to catch when we find him.”

The owner suspects the young Australian native — which is similar to a kangaroo but smaller — is likely hiding out in the tall grass or thick woods that line the edge of town.

“He likes it and he likes to hide in it. I think he’s probably in there if he hasn’t moved on from this pasture somewhere,” he said.
A wallaby is any kangaroo-like critter smaller than proper kangaroos — Wikipedia lists about 45 species currently extant, plus a couple of extinct ones. In the wild they live about a decade, so as long as the silly thing does not find a mate, eventually the coyotes will take care of him.

Britain
King Charles' climate doomsday clock is pure green insanity
[NYPOST] King Charles III
...even his friends say he is as thick as two short planks...
has launched a catastrophe countdown clock. It will tick until 2030, a year in which he predicts "serious consequences" if the world doesn’t effectively address "climate change."

Honestly, if you can’t trust the king, whom can you trust?

It’s always good to be reminded of predictions like this and whether any of them — even just one — has come true.

If not, why would we put our faith in them? One might as well consult a palm reader, a horoscope, or a fortune cookie to get similar results.

The International Energy Agency has released a new report that finds since 2020 governments around the world have spent $1.34 trillion investing in clean energy.

The result has been negligible to nothing in reducing global temperatures.

In 2022 global CO2 emissions hit their highest levels ever. Canadian forest fires are likely to increase carbon emissions, countering whatever progress has been made by the wind and solar energy industries.

The British doomsday clock is not original. During the Cold War, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists had a similar clock which predicted how close they believed we were to nuclear self-destruction.

Elon Musk sues Wachtell law firm to recoup fees from Twitter buyout
By Jonathan Stempel

[Reuters] Elon Musk has sued the elite law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz to recover most of a $90 million fee it received from Twitter for defeating his bid to walk away from his $44 billion buyout of the social media company.

The complaint by Musk's X Corp, which owns Twitter, was filed on Wednesday in the California Superior Court in San Francisco.

Musk accused Wachtell of exploiting Twitter by accepting, in the final days before the Oct. 27, 2022, buyout closed, huge "success" fees doled out by departing Twitter executives who were grateful that Musk would be forced to close.
