A British teacher has been arrested in Italy after he allegedly kidnapped his love rival, tied him to a chair and zapped him with a high-voltage stun gun. Love hurts....
Brian Avery, 47, from Ramsgate, Kent, is said to have become embroiled in a love triangle with one of his students, Chinese-born Shao Ling, 45, in the Italian town where he taught.
Tensions started to rise and Avery is alleged to have approached her 40-year-old husband in the street, pressed a gun into his back and told him to walk down a ramp into the underground car park of the apartment where the couple lived. "Yer takin' a little walk with me, fellow. I got thousands of volts in me hand and I am not afraid to let them loose on you!"
A spokesman for Italian police said: "He threatened the man with a gun and tied him to a chair in the victim's own private parking space. He then hit him and stunned him with electricity. *THWAK*
"Uhhhhhh!"

"Ahhheeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The ordeal ended after 10 minutes, when a car drove into the area. The victim was admitted to hospital. "What happened to you??? What seems to be the trouble, sir?"

The alleged attack happened at around 8.30pm on the evening of Jan 13 in the centre of the northern Italian town of Como, where Avery had been working as a private English tutor for the past three years.
The couple who drove into the Via Einaudi car park told police they had seen a man with a gun, but that they could not see his face as he ran away. Avery was allegedly identified by the victim, who has claimed to have seen him before with his wife.
He was arrested 20 minutes after the attack at his house in the Camerlata district on charges of kidnapping, assault and illegal possession of a firearm. Police say they found "several" stun guns at his house, but no pistol.
The teacher has protested his innocence and told Luciano Storaci, the judge in charge of the case: "I did not do anything, you must believe me." "Is that a stun gun in yer pocket, or are you glad to see me?"
But Mr Storaci decided Avery should be detained in custody while the investigation continues. This means that Avery will remain in prison for up to a year while the authorities investigate. Three hots and a cot. Wonder if the seductive Shao Ling will visit and bring him a cake?
Caroline Ingham, the British vice-consul in Milan, visited Avery on Tuesday in Bassone prison. A spokesman for the British consulate said: "He was in good shape, considering the circumstances. However, he did have a broken foot, which he sustained before the alleged incident."
Avery, a former pupil at St John's School in Margate, has lived a nomadic life, at one stage alternating between living in Rotterdam, Holland, and Southern England, where he helped to develop a friend's distribution company. Before that he had lived in the Canary Islands for several years and wrote on a social networking site after his return: "I'm planning to stay around for another year or possibly two, and will then be moving somewhere warmer again, possibly South Africa."
He went on to live in various parts of the country before settling briefly in Ashford, Kent, adding: "I can't remember what possessed me to move here! Studying hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, struggling to write a book and paying for it all by selling the odd car here and there." Centered fellow, he was. Working hard toward his life goals.
Avery's father, Brian, did not answer the door at his terrace home in Margate on Tuesday night. Neighbours confirmed that he had a son who lives in Italy. "Mr. Avery, do you have anything to say about the alleged actions of your son Brian?"
"Bugger off! I'm not at home."

Heath Ledger, the Australian actor nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for his depiction of a brooding gay cowboy, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Tuesday. He was 28.
He was discovered in his bedroom in the apartment in the SoHo neighbourhood of Manhattan at 3.30pm by a housekeeper and a masseuse whom he had called for an appointment. They found him unconscious on the floor and called emergency services when he failed to respond.
According to the entertainment news website TMZ.com, paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Prescription medicines were found in the room and police confirmed they were investigating a possible overdose, though there was no indication his death had been accidental or otherwise.

According to National Review, he admitted in an interview that playing the character of The Joker (a psychopath if ever there was) in the latest Batman movie was psychologically stressful for him. If it turns out (as it seems) that he destroyed himself because of some sort of mental illness, that would be truly sad.

Re the "accidental death" reports: that can't be determined until toxicology tests are completed. Depending on the waiting list, that could take a couple of months. There are hearsay reports that Ledger had pnemonia when he died. Sounds unlikely because that condition requires intense treatment with anti-biotics, which wouldn't be compatible with known treatment that he was taking for "insomnia." (Apparently he admitted that problem to friends.) He earned $6 million in total for the last 2 released movies; he received more for "Batman." Career concerns are an unlikely cause for any mood disorder. Wait until the Coroner looks at the Medical Investigator' reports. Police will have their own report on anything that might have motivated either an overdose or lethal mixing on drugs.

Take the time to see what causes the other entrants'"platforms." Some I find laudable, like Autism awareness and music as a vehicle for learning. Some platform titles read like subheads from a sociology textbook.
Jill's platform has to do with being prepared for emergencies and disasters.
GI Jill is a year or two older than most of these girls, and she has a lot more real world experience than a lot of these college students have.

I took the time to read a good sampling of the platforms and most of all the links in Gateway Pundit. She is by far the most outstanding and mature of all the candidates. She can take my blood pressure anytime.

PERRY Township Police Chief Raymond Stone received a report about 7:56 a.m. Wednesday that a childs tongue was stuck to a cold light pole. The boy and the pole were near the school bus stop in the 1100 block of Prospect Street.
Stone went to the scene and learned the boy had been freed from the pole by his mother. The chief later talked to the woman, who said she was taking her son to get medical treatment for his tongue.
At least he didn't shoot his eye out.

FARMERS BRANCH City officials whose previous attempts to keep out illegal immigrants have been blocked by the courts took another shot Tuesday, adopting an ordinance that would not only ban them from renting apartments but also from renting houses. The City Council unanimously approved Ordinance 2952, which would require all renters to pay a $5 fee and claim U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status to obtain an occupancy license from the city.
About 40 people spoke during the roughly two-hour meeting, with a slight majority in favor of the ordinance.
Supporters said that while the ordinance may not resolve the illegal immigration issue, it's a step in the right direction. And some, led by council member Jim Smith, said they'd like to see the city also go after employers who hire illegal workers.
But opponents said they believe the law will also get hung up in the courts and ultimately be found unconstitutional. Others said the licensing process will cause potential renters to move to other cities and cause financial losses for property owners. cough, eh, ah, we want them to leave you idiots

Now *this* will work. The other efforts failed because they tried to have renters enforcing the law, by checking IDs, yet with no way of knowing if they were real or not.
That is not their job, it is the job of government. It is no different than ordering people to stop other people from littering. It is not their job.
In *this* case, however, the city, which has the resources to check IDs, does so. Therefore, the system will work and if someone illegally rents to an illegal, then there is no excuse.

This also works from the legal angle, because while there might be an argument against citizenship tests for renters, it has to stand with two other arguments.
Cities must determine rental properties for tax and zoning purposes; *and* cities have long controlled and restricted rental properties in college towns, which is a racket, but a legal one, going way back.
Both of these are so important for cities that they will fight tooth and claw to keep them, and thus occupancy licenses will stand up in court.

Escondido, CA, took a similar approach. The difference was they tried to make it the responsibility of the landlords to verify that their tenants were in the country legally. Some of the landlords weren't too happy about that.
Escondido's ordinance was repealed after the ACLU took them to court. Don't be surprised if the ACLU steps into this one too.

That was my point, that it was a serious mistake to try and make landlords enforce the rules. Landlords have no way of telling if ID is real or fake. They don't even have access to the employer verification system.
What really stunk about it was that landlords could then be punished if someone snuck a fake ID past them.
This way, either a landlord is obeying the law, or they are not. They know where they stand.

Actually, it decisively showed you could no longer attack without air cover. If the Japanese high command had not inexplicably grounded its planes things might have gone very differently.

The overlooked consequence of the Khlakin Gol is that it propelled G K Zhukov to the high spheres. Without it is dubious he would have been commanding more than an Army (soviets ionfflated the disgnation for propaganda purposes. A Soviet Army = A Western
Corps) or a front (an Army in western terms). Instead he was commanding the equivalent of a Group of Armies. Without the Khalkhin Gol it is probable that the defence of Moscow would heva been entrusted to mediocrities like Voroshilov, or Boudiennny or the, at best, average Timoshenko. Eremenko and Konev still had not escalated to the high ranks. Vatutin had still not found his way. With an Eremenko defending Moscow God knows what would have happened.

If this is true then that lends credence to the stories about moving Dreamland's missions to either / both Utah or Colorado.
Another piece of aviation history bites the dust: Dreamland was founded by Kelly Johnson in order to have a place to test the U-2. (IMHO, KJ is right up there next to Orville and Wilbur in the aviation Hall of Fame)

I have no problem should they move the secret test/development facility, or should they leave it there (Nevada) as 'Area 51'. The renaming is idiotic at best if done. No matter what they call the site or whether they 'move' it, nothing will cause me to believe that we're other than alone in this, GOD's universe, and what the people of Stephensville and other places are seeing, is just the clever creations and exploits of the USA's 'hidden side'. Actually, I think it was given an airport designator because there is some civil traffic between there and certain other points.
It is public knowledge that employees obviously do not live at Groom Lake and also that they do not commute to it in their own vehicles (lest they be ambushed by ufools and other spies), ergo, the civil air traffic and now a civil airport designator to go with it.
These flights are often mistaken for ETs by the credulous masses who surround the reservation on all sides at all hours of the day and night.
