Report: Schumer pushing Merrick Garland for Supreme Court
[Arutz Sheva] Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer urged US President Donald Trump to nominate Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, The Washington Post reported.

Schumer, a Jewish Democrat from New York, made the request in a phone call earlier this week, The Post reported.

Garland, who also is Jewish, was former US President Barack Obama’s nominee in 2016 following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. Senate Republicans, however, would not consider the nomination in March, saying it had to wait until after the presidential election in November.

Trump chose Neal Gorsuch to fill Scalia’s position, and Gorsuch was confirmed. With Justice Anthony Kennedy announcing last month that he is retiring, Trump must choose another justice to serve on the court.

Schumer knows getting Trump to even consider putting Garland on the court is highly unlikely. The conversation “seemed more like a check the box call than meaningful conversation” because Trump already has a shortlist of conservative nominees, a source told The Hill.

Trump is set to announce his nomination on Monday.

Jim Jordan's Accusers Have A Sketchy History, Raising Questions About Their ‘Authenticity'
I question the timing, the motive and why it wasn't raised the many times he's run for office back when teh accusation might have been fresh.
[DailyCaller] One accuser, Mike DiSabato, is also being accused of bullying the widow of a Marine over a memorial fund set up in her husband's name. DiSabato is also facing a defamation lawsuit.

The other accuser, Dunyasha Yetts, served prison time for a $1.8 million fraud scheme
24+ years ago,to be accurate
Two former Ohio State University wrestlers accusing Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan of ignoring sexual misconduct by a university physician more than two decades ago have a history of failed business dealings, lawsuits, harassment allegations, and in the case of one accuser, an 18 month prison sentence for fraud.

One of the former wrestlers, Mike DiSabato, is also being accused by the widow of a Marine who was killed in combat in Iraq of intimidating and bullying her over a memorial fund set up in her husband's name.

"I question the intent, the authenticity, the verity, that Mike DiSabato shares in any of his words or actions," Karen Mendoza, the wife of Ray Mendoza ‐ a former teammate of DiSabato's who was killed in 2005 ‐ said in a statement.

NBC News published an article on Tuesday, quoting DiSabato and Dunyasha Yetts, another former OSU wrestler, claiming that when Jordan worked as assistant wrestling coach at OSU, he ignored sexual abuse carried out by a university physician named Richard Strauss. Jordan, a two-time NCAA wrestling champion, denied in April that he knew about Strauss's alleged activities. But Yetts told NBC News that Jordan was either a "liar" or taking part in a cover-up of the abuse. DiSabato called Jordan a "coward."

Jordan, a leading House conservative, has vehemently denied the allegations, saying that he was never told of sexual abuse against athletes during his stint at OSU, which stretched from 1986 to 1994. He said he would have taken action had he known about any abuse by Strauss, who killed himself in 2005.

Jordan is also questioning the timing of the story. The Republican is considered a potential replacement to House Speaker Paul Ryan. He is also among a handful of Republicans leading a push against the FBI and the Department of Justice for answers about the agencies' handling of the investigation into the Trump campaign.

"Look, the timing makes you wonder," Jordan told reporters at a July 4 event in Ohio. "All I know is, it's not true."

"It's interesting that the timing is what it is, in light of things that are going on in Washington," he continued.

The initial reports based on DiSabato and Yetts' claims regarding Jordan ignores a large body of evidence that raises questions about the two former wrestlers' motives.

NBC did note that Yetts served time in prison for a $1.8 million fraud scheme.

#1  Let me see I got it straight, the doc sexually abused persons who can break his arms & legs without working a sweat?

From RedState
Strauss was doctor for the Ohio State athletic program, all of it, not just wrestling, if the allegations are true we can be sure he did more than attempt to ogle a few wrestlers. So far, crickets.

Oddly enough, the law firm representing the two complainants in this melodrama is Perkins Cole. That is the same law firm that hired Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele to produce the Trump dossier.

Scott Pruitt’s Replacement Is Even Worse
Filed under Be careful what you wish for, or possibly Bringing a gun to a knife fight:
[HuffPoo] Andrew Wheeler is a former coal and mining lobbyist and a climate denier who can carry out Pruitt’s agenda, minus the headline-grabbing scandals.

Wheeler’s ascension, while expected to return stability to the scandal-struck EPA, demonstrates how the administration secured the future of its radical plan to dismantle the nation’s leading public health agency at the behest of the industries it regulates, amid the distractions of Pruitt’s humiliating final months as the agency’s second-shortest-serving administrator in history.

“He will be potentially considerably more effective, both because you don’t have the daily drama that you’ve had for the last several months and because Andy knows how the system works,” said Stan Meiburg, a former acting deputy EPA administrator who spent 39 years at the agency. “He could be more effective for the administration in achieving its policy objectives.”

Pruitt left behind a considerable legacy of halting critical regulations, reshaping the EPA’s science advisory boards and provoking an exodus of talent from the agency that could take decades to reverse. Yet roughly one-third of the regulatory rollbacks Pruitt attempted were halted by legal challenges ― setbacks widely attributed to his brash style and overeagerness to antagonize environmentalists.

Knowing the "science" they have provided over the years I'm willing to accept that risk.

#3  Congrats! You got rid of the person who was literally Hitler's EPA guy (or some damn literally Hitler thing) and now the EPA is being run by an ex coal lobbyist. Well done lads, lasses and persons of indeterminate gender.

#4  I believe Trump is using this as a general strategy:
Target any of my people, run out them out of DC, and I'll replace them with someone even more conservative.

#7  #2 I would rather O stay in DC. His enablers will do their dirty work supplying for his needs. His disappearance is one of the first signs of his drug dependency. Seeing his efforts so easily erased fills him with searing anger. Drugs will fill the void within himself. He needs to feel the power he once enjoyed. That is all that matters to him. His tale has no happy ending.

Former Fox News Co-President Will Replace Hope Hicks as White House Communications Director
[OANN] President Trump recently announced who will replace Hope Hicks as communications director at the White House.

On Thursday, The president said Bill Shine ‐ former co-president of Fox News ‐ will serve as his assistant and as deputy chief of staff of communications.

Shine was at the White House last Wednesda, and brings over two decades of experience to the role.

The position has been vacant since March, when Hicks abruptly resigned after working closely with the president for years.
