Jemele Hill Of ESPN Gets Demoted
Her appeal has just become more selective...

ESPN’s Jemele Hill will move from co-anchor of the 6 p.m. "SportsCenter" to join the staff of The Undefeated, the worldwide leader’s website that focuses on race, sports, and culture, it was announced Friday.

In addition to writing for The Undefeated, Hill also will also appear on "E:60," "Outside the Lines," "Around the Horn," and other ESPN programs. Her final day on the 6 p.m. "SportsCenter" ‐ known as SC6 ‐ will be Feb. 2. Hill has co-anchored SC6 with Michael Smith since ESPN rebranded the program’s time slot a year ago.

Hill began talks recently with higher-ups to make the switch, according to an ESPN release, and ultimately wanted to go back to writing.

Yeah, I'm reeeeealy buying that one!

#1  SC6 with her Thulsa Doom and Michael Smith was basically "Tonight in Black Sports". So inherently racial and unwatchable, ESPN was banished for at least that hour from my local watering hole/sports bar. Anyone requesting it was also banned discouraged

Looming scandal will hammer the Democrats
h/t Instapundit
The fix was in. The 2016 election was rigged ‐ and Donald Trump won anyway.

All hell is breaking loose in D.C. The next few weeks will be the most shocking in America’s history. The revelations about to be made public will shake this nation to its core.

Liberals who watch only CNN and MSNBC probably haven’t a clue what’s about to hit them. Trust me, that light at the end of the tunnel is a train headed straight for the Democrat Party.

We all know ‐ thanks to former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile ‐ that Hillary rigged the Democrat presidential primary against Bernie Sanders. That was a precursor of what was to come.

Does it shock anyone that someone brazen enough to rig a presidential primary would also try to rig the general election?

Don’t look now, but Donald J. Trump may be the first person in world history to win an election rigged against him. Hillary ‐ with the backing of Barack Obama and the leadership of the FBI and Department of Justice ‐ fixed the general election so Trump couldn’t win. And Trump ‐ this relentless bull in a china shop ‐ won anyway.

#1  The democrats are hopelessly out of touch. How does throwing money and entitlements at illegal aliens that want to steal jobs and livelihood from working Americans going to resonate with the average American enough to win an election?

With a huge economic boom in progress?

The only thing they have is this "coup d'état". If they don't get Trump out of the way in this "investigation" they are cooked.

BTW, after watching "13 Hours" for the zillionth time, I believe that what happened was a Clinton Foundation "hit" on Ambassador Stevens. He and the local CIA found a lot of US and Soviet high tech weaponry on the open market and were trying to keep it from getting to Asaad and the Syrian rebels. Hillary on the other hand stood to make a lot of money, and gratitude from the Russians, et al., by allowing the Manpads and other nasty gizmos to get to the ME.

#4  It's interesting that we are seeing no reportage of how this little show is playing with that beloved (most of the time) by journos and pollsters cohort known as "independents." I can only intuit from the silence that the numbers there are not good.

#5  The press is not reporting on independents, because the press is too busy trying to keep this buried, or preemptively attempting to discredit or muddy the waters. They know when it all comes out, they will be found as willing accomplices to the corruption. RICO the times and Post and the big TV news operations.

Controversial FBI Officials Linked To Wall Street Journal and Washington Post Leaks…
[ConservativeTreehouse] There has been a great deal of speculation about FBI Agent Peter Strzok and FBI Attorney Lisa Page leaking to media in their efforts to shape stories conducive to their pro-Clinton/anti-Trump efforts. Prior reporting showed the strong possibility Page and Strzok were leaking to the Wall Street Journal.

"Article is out, but hidden behind paywall so can’t read it," Page texted Strzok on Oct. 24, 2016.

"Wsj? Boy that was fast," Strzok texted back, using the initials of the famed financial newspaper. "Should I ’find’ it and tell the team?"

Some new information today, and some additional research, and we can not only confirm the prior suspicions outlined by John Solomon (The Hill) ‐ but we also discover the actual Wall Street Journal reporter they were leaking to.

Yesterday Senator Chuck Grassley released a series of text messages between Page and Strzok (full pdf here). Within the release there is a portion of messaging where Lisa Page is identified on the phone with "Devlin" (see page #5 ‐ screen grab below):
Is it possible the end narrative will implicate 2 "rogue agents" and "Move along, nothing else to see here."?

The Pension Crisis Is Starting to Hit Home. School Choice Might Be the Only Answer
[National Review] Private schools educate students far more cheaply than public ones do. Talk to the people of Illinois about America’s looming public-pension crisis, and they’ll tell you it’s not looming ‐ it’s already here.

This month, a statute went into effect giving Comptroller Susana Mendoza the right to make up for any town or county’s delinquent pension payments by seizing its share of sales, excise, and other taxes collected by the state.

The result is that municipalities across Illinois have been scrambling to either cut services or raise taxes. Mattoon officials have announced that ambulance services will be scuttled to pay pension bills a half-million dollars higher than last year’s, while Springfield’s budget director, Bill McCarthy, says he will have to "reduce other services just to meet pension obligations."
There are still people in Mattoon ?
Normal will handle the problem through property-tax increases, while Danville has imposed a separate "public safety pension fee," which will cost residents up to $267 annually. East St. Louis, which depends almost exclusively on its share of tax money from state’s Local Government Distributive Fund, could soon see its entire budget confiscated to satisfy pension obligations.

With a national pension asset shortfall calculated as high as $6 trillion ‐ and with accelerating benefit payouts to retiring Baby Boomers ‐ Illinois is sadly not the only state where voters are being hit with revenue surcharges or deprived of essential services.

Florida localities will have to allocate an additional $178.5 million in their upcoming budgets to pension payments; in San Diego, the Unified School District has been reduced to polling parents on what K‐12 student services they would be willing to sacrifice to sustain the benefits promised to retired teachers. Fulton, Ky., has cut back on hospital and ambulance services and still faces a $114,000 annual shortfall. Looking at the situation nationally, two researchers for the politically moderate Brookings Institution, William Gale and Aaron Krupkin, have estimated that an average 5.7 percent across-the-board service reduction is required just to ensure that state and local pension liabilities do not rise any further.

#2  what K‐12 student services they would be willing to sacrifice to sustain the benefits promised to retired teachers.

This has been predicted for years — unkeepable promises can’t be kept. That they never should have been made is a legitimate complaint for those depending on them, but there it is. The choice will soon enough become accepting less or getting nothing at all from bankrupt communities.

Posted by: Skidmark || 01/26/2018 11:03 Comments || Top||

#5  simple understanding of human nature is now lacking across most levels of our society, to the point where we now have a mass culture promoting insanity and delusions. We have developed many ways to promote human health & happiness since WWII, but the vast majority seem to be hell-bent on lunacy and social breakdown.
Posted by: Anguper Hupomosing9418 || 01/26/2018 12:44 Comments || Top||

#6  Since the US Constitution includes: no state shall pass a "Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts", all those non-federal promises which constitute the "pension crisis" cannot be retroactively changed. We are stuck with them. Offering up school choice as the "only answer" - in this context - is utter nonsense.
The real fun begins when judges start imposing taxes and fees - on their own - to meet these ironclad and inescapable promises made by irresponsible local & state authorities. Maybe Illinois will start taxing every semi that crosses their border, and every air passenger who touches down at O'Hare. You ain't seen nothing yet!
Public information and discussion of this issue hasn't even reached the level of misinformation.

#8  Private schools don't have to provide for special ed kids, who are far more expensive to educate/attend. That's the standard excuse for why public schools cost so much more than private, per student. I don't believe it's the whole story, and would like to see the costs split out for comparison.

Mark Levin: 'If we don't get to the bottom of this we're in a hell of a lot of trouble!'
[Right Scoop] Mark Levin has published an 8-minute clip from his LevinTV show tonight, which he says will be available for free, where he discusses the FBI missing texts, the Obama/Clinton/Russia collusion and how the silent coup against Trump is escalating.

Levin discusses how he’s never seen anything like this happen before and at the end of the video he puts it plainly, saying that if we don’t get to the bottom of this, we’re going to be in a hell of a lot of trouble.

It’s worth pointing out that Erick Erickson echoes a similar sentiment to what Levin is saying here in a post he wrote this morning:
But the reality is this: if FBI agents collaborated to fabricate or exaggerate allegations about Donald Trump and/or tried to bring down his Presidency through partisan motivations, it is game over on the republic. If the civil institutions we have put in place to ensure law and order apart from politics are infiltrated by politics, there really is no turning back.

This is exactly why Levin says we must get to the bottom of this. The future of the country depends on it. We don’t want to become a banana republic.

In one text released to the public, Page, in reference to Clinton, wrote to Strzok, "One more thing: she might be our next president. The last thing you need us going in there loaded for bear. You think she’s going to remember or care that it was more doj than fbi?"

Shep Smith: Let's Face It, The Nunes Memo Is A "Weapon Of Partisan Mass Distraction"
[Hot Air] The Fox News break room must be pretty awkward these days whenever Shep walks in, huh? Hannity’s pronouncing Mueller’s investigation "over," Tucker’s running "Tainted Probe" segments, and Shep’s on the air in the middle of the day casually assuring Fox viewers that it’s all BS. The hate mail he gets must be *kisses fingers*. I don’t know why he stays. He’s a big enough name that CNN would be eager to poach him, possibly even in primetime. Maybe he views his relationship to Fox primetime the way Kelly, Mattis, et al. allegedly view their relationship to Trump: Someone’s gotta be in the room to keep the populists calm.

It wasn’t just Shep either. Chris Wallace, another big name on the "hard news" side of Fox, also tried to chill viewers out a bit, albeit in a lower-key way: "I’m not sure that talking about deep state coups against the president or corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, I’m not quite sure we’re there yet." That’s the second clip below. Wallace grumbled a few months ago about certain unnamed commentators on his network piling on the press ("I don’t think they recognize that they have a role at Fox News and we have a role at Fox News. I don’t know what’s in their head."), making him another obvious candidate to leave sooner or later. Although, precisely because the opinion side of Fox has moved so far into the West Wing in carrying Trump’s message, maybe Wallace and Smith have FNC over a barrel. They and Bret Baier are key to Fox’s "fair and balanced" pretensions. Lose the hard news guys and all that’s left is Hannity pounding the table about a "deep state coup" forever.

Ground breaking Pew study - U.S. Dads Say They Don't Spend Enough Time With Their Kids
[PJ] American fathers say they don’t spend enough time with their kids, a new study by the Pew Research Center has found. Nearly 63 percent of fathers report they spend "too little" time with their children -- and they overwhelmingly cite work obligations and a lack of custody as the primary reasons why.

The study also found that one-in-four fathers don’t live with their children, with large differences appearing when sorted by race/ethnicity: 47 percent of black fathers reported not having primary custody of their children, and 26 percent of Hispanic fathers reported the same.

Education is strongly linked to the ability to be an active father, the Pew Research Center reports. Fathers who graduated from college have a special advantage in this: only about eight percent of dads who finished college live apart from their kids. Meanwhile, nearly 30 percent of fathers without a college degree don’t have custody.

#1  Regret is the lot of working parents, and most fathers are not stay-at-home dads. But that just means that fathers have to work on quality rather than quantity, being present and involved when home, not being just the “fun dad” or the exhausted one.

My sympathies for those fathers unwillingly divorced, and thereby separated from their children. But I admit to having no sympathy whatsoever for those who did not marry their baby mamas, who then reciprocated the lack of commitment. It is my understanding that in general such gentlemen fade from their children’s lives about the time the kids start school, making the regret a good deal less convincing.

Court halts execution of Alabama cop killer suffering from dementia
ATMORE, Ala. (AP) ‐ The U.S. Supreme Court has halted the execution of an Alabama inmate whose attorneys argue that dementia has left the 67-year-old unable to remember killing a police officer three decades ago.

Justices issued a stay Thursday night, the same evening that Vernon Madison was scheduled to receive a lethal injection at a southwest Alabama prison. The court delayed the execution to consider whether to further review the case.

Madison was sentenced to death for the 1985 killing of Mobile police Officer Julius Schulte, who had responded to a call about a missing child made by Madison’s then-girlfriend. Prosecutors have said that Madison crept up and shot Schulte in the back of the head as he sat in his police car.

Madison’s attorneys argued that strokes and dementia have left Madison unable to remember killing Schulte or fully understand his looming execution. The Supreme Court has previously ruled that condemned inmates must have a "rational understanding" that they are about to be executed and why.

President's Rock Star welcome at Davos, SZ
[The Mail] The approximately 40-minute trip took Trump over a snowy countryside dotted with houses, frosted mountains and a glistening lake.

As Trump got off the helicopter in Davos, he gestured to aides who held him by the arms as he walked across the snowy landing zone to his waiting car.

'We're very happy to be here,' Trump said as he arrived. 'The United States is doing very well, and will continue to do well and this will be a very exciting two days.'

Trump waved to a bank of cameras when he arrived, before being immediately whisked away to the annual gathering of heads of state and business leaders where he had a one-on-one meeting with May.

He then had a meeting with Netanyahu, where the two reaffirmed the historic decision by the United States to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and Trump blasted Palestinian leaders for 'disrespecting' the U.S.

Why Are Strzok And Page Still At The FBI? - Did Someone Delete Their Texts?
[Townhall] Sara Carter, formerly of Circa News, dropped by Fox And Friends Tuesday morning to discuss the latest batch of FBI texts between FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and bureau lawyer Lisa Page. The two sent tens of thousands of texts, riddled with anti-Trump swipes and praise for Hillary Clinton. It’s clear that these two did not want Donald Trump to be president. The exchanges initially raised eyebrows over an August 15, 2016 text, where Strzok mentioned an "insurance policy" after a meeting with Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

Keep in mind; this is the man who signed off on the bureau’s counterintelligence probe into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians a month earlier. Is this in reference to the Trump dossier? Some say it could be, which is also alleged to have been the basis to secure FISA warrants against members of the Trump campaign. Now, we have a new and rather cryptic text from Lisa Page sent to Strzok the day after the 2016 election, where she mentions a secret society. Is it a joke? Maybe. Does it absolve them of their incredibly unethical and unprofessional behavior that’s put the credibility of the FBI on the line? No. These people were responsible for investigating with objectivity. Strzok was involved in the Russian collusion and Hillary email fiasco, and believe me‐there’s some glaring discrepancies on that one.

Soetoro Photo That Never Saw The Light of Day
[TPM] A journalist announced last week that he will publish a photograph of then-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama (D) and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan that he took in 2005 at a Congressional Black Caucus meeting, but did not make public because he believed it would have "made a difference" to Obama’s political future.

The photographer, Askia Muhammad, told the Trice Edney News Wire that he "gave the picture up at the time and basically swore secrecy."

"But after the nomination was secured and all the way up until the inauguration; then for eight years after he was President, it was kept under cover," Muhammad said.

Asked whether he thought the photo’s release would have affected Obama’s presidential campaign, Muhammad said, "I insist. It absolutely would have made a difference."

White House eyes new intelligence board
[Wash Times] The Trump administration is moving ahead with setting up the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, and a chairman and vice chairman have been selected and are being vetted for security clearances.

A White House official said the chairman will be Stephen Feinberg, a New York financier and Trump supporter, he is the CEO of Cerberus Capital Management, whose holdings have included the defense contractor DynCorp.

The vice chairman of the intelligence board is said to be Samantha Ravich, former deputy national security adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney.

Several names of national security experts are being floated as board members, but the official said so far none are solid and several of those floated are liberals and unlikely to be picked.

The board, known as PFIAB, provides the president with advice on the quality and adequacy of intelligence collection and analysis of intelligence estimates, counterintelligence and other intelligence-related functions. The board has been inactive since the Mr. Trump was inaugurated in January 2017.

Macron: I Won't Recognize Palestinian State in Response to Trump's Jerusalem Move
[Breitbart] The Times of Israel reports: DAVOS, Switzerland ‐ French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday that he would not recognize Palestine as an independent state as a reaction to US President Donald Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

"I will not take any decision in reaction to any decision," Macron told reporters in response to a Times of Israel question on the potential recognition of a Palestinian state. The comments came during a photo op with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ahead of their closed-door meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The meeting lasted nearly an hour.

Several European nations, including Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Slovenia, are reportedly mulling recognizing an independent Palestine in response to Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem. The Slovenian foreign minister has already confirmed his country’s intention.

Washington State Gov. orders state officials not to assist ICE (video)
From The Hill:

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) on Thursday signed an executive order blocking state law enforcement agencies from detaining undocumented immigrants at the request of federal officials, days after the Trump administration began ramping up immigration enforcement actions.

Inslee’s order prevents state agencies from discriminating against or refusing service to those in living the country illegally. It also blocks those agencies from spending state resources to create or enforce a registry of citizens on the basis of religious affiliation.

The order blocks the Washington State Patrol and the state Department of Corrections from detaining anyone solely on the basis of immigration status.

"This executive order makes clear that Washington will not be a willing participant in promoting or carrying out mean-spirited policies that break up families and compromise our national security and, importantly, our community safety," Inslee said at a press conference Thursday.

One provision of the Trump administration’s new immigration guidelines, issued Tuesday, directs the Department of Homeland Security and immigration enforcement agencies to enlist local law enforcement agencies in efforts to enforce federal immigration law. There is no federal law requiring local agencies to adhere to those guidelines.

In a written response, following a question raised by PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar asking if "Ehsan was under trial", the ministry said they had no information regarding this.

"Will the case of former TTP spokesperson be sent to a military court," Babar had asked.

The ministry said it had no clue pertaining to Ehsanullah Ehsan's trial, adding that the issue had been taken up with the civil intelligence agencies but they said "they weren't looking into the matter".

The interior ministry, however, said the case of Ehsan, who is reportedly in the custody of security agencies, would be put forward before a special committee as per the recommendations of the home department. "The case will be sent to a military court if the committee gives approval."

FBI Agent Kills Kidnapping Victim
[DallasNews] A federal agent reportedly shot a kidnapping victim dead during a predawn raid at a northeast Houston home Thursday.

FBI spokeswoman Christina Garza said during a news conference that the man was shot during an "operation" at the house on Elbert Street around 3:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead a short time later at a nearby hospital.

Garza said the FBI could not release any details about the man or the circumstances of the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation, but the Houston Chronicle and KHOU-TV, citing unnamed sources, have both reported that he was kidnapped in Montgomery County on Wednesday.

Several other people, including two children, were at the home at the time of the shooting, Garza said, but no one else was injured. It was unclear whether anyone had been taken into custody.

The agent who killed the man has been placed on routine administrative leave, Garza said.

Houston police said they did not have any part in the FBI's operation, but they are also investigating the shooting.

Neighbor Monique McKnight told the Chronicle that gunfire woke her up. "It sounded like an explosion," she said.

McKnight said agents asked her about the children who lived at the home.

"I have no idea what would be going on in that house," she told KHOU. "A lot of times they didn't have utilities. The lights weren't on, so I don't know how they were living."
Courtesy of Skidmark, Fox News adds:
[FoxNews] A Texas man who police say was kidnapped in a home invasion was shot and killed early Thursday as FBI agents raided the home where he was being held, according to multiple reports.

The Houston Chronicle reported that the unidentified victim was kidnapped from a home in Conroe Wednesday by two men with guns who forced their way inside. According to the paper, the victim's brother and 12-year-old son were bound with duct tape.

"[The kidnappers] were demanding money they were owed that nobody knew anything about," Conroe Police Sgt. Jeff Smith told the paper.

Smith added that the kidnappers claimed to have connections with a Mexican drug cartel, but noted there was no evidence that was the case.

"There are oftentimes claims of a cartel connection just to place a fear factor," Smith told the Chronicle.

After the victim's brother received a phone call demanding a ransom, police and the FBI were able to track the suspects to a Clear Lake hotel. Three people were detained and questioned, enabling police to locate the victim in the home.

Police told the Chronicle that a woman in the home was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping. Two men detained at the hotel were charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. It was not immediately clear if more charges would be filed.

"This was not a random cartel thing," Smith said. "It appears somebody connected to the family was involved."

21 Islamic State militants killed in southern Mosul military operation

Nineveh (Iraqinews.com) – At least 21 militants were killed in a military operation which was launched earlier on Tuesday to purge the southern part of Mosul from Islamic State remnants, a military official was quoted as saying.

Speaking to the London-based Al-Arab daily newspaper on Wednesday, Colonel Ahmed al-Jubouri said, “About 21 Islamic State militants were killed, and six armored vehicles were destroyed during the military operation, which was launched Tuesday to purge southern Mosul from IS remnants.”

“Joint troops from the Iraqi police and army, as well as al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) are taking part in the clampdown,” he said, adding that the military operation has not come to an end yet due to the geographical nature of the area and the presence of many civilian families there.

Jubouri made no remarks about the number of Iraqi troops, who were killed in the face-off with Islamic State militants.

Nine Islamic State members arrested in operation, south of Mosul: Police

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Nine Islamic State members were arrested on Wednesday within an ongoing operation in south of Mosul, a security source said.

Speaking to BasNews website, Brig. Gen. Wathiq al-Hamdani, Nineveh Police Chief, confirmed nine IS members during the ongoing offensive carried out by the police command in cooperation with army and security services in one of the districts in Mosul. This comes one day after killing 23 terrorists in the islands located near Tigris River.

The Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday launching an operation to follow IS remnants in Jozor al-Makhlat (islands) in Nineveh.

Police arrest accused in Dadu triple murder case
[DAWN] An accused nominated in the triple murder of a PPP office bearer and his sons was tossed in the calaboose
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
in the Mehar town of Dadu district on Thursday, while two others, a PPP MPA and his brother, were granted bail by the Sindh High Court (SHC).

Sikandar Chandio ‐ one of the seven people nominated in the first information report (FIR) for the murder of Raees Karamullah Chandio and his sons Mukhtar Ahmed Chandio and Qabil Chandio ‐ was apprehended while travelling on a cycle of violence in Mehar along with two other people. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
the two other persons managed to escape.

Dadu police recovered a rifle from the possession of the accused and have handed his custody to Hyderabad police, who are investigating the case, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Dadu Qamar Raza Jiskani said.

Later in the evening, MPA Nawab Sardar Ahmed Chandio and his brother Nawab Burhan Khan Chandio appeared before SSP Hyderabad Syed Pir Mohammad Shah and handed over copy of their pre-arrest bails.

Peshmerga: truce with Baghdad fragile, troops remain on alert
[IraqiNews] The ceasefire truce agreed between Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmerga troops remains prone to collapsing, a senior Peshmerga commander was quoted saying on Thursday.

Sirwan Barzani, a commander of the Makhmur zone in Peshmerga, told London-based Alhayat that "ceasefire truce between Baghdad and Erbil remains fragile, and Peshmerga remain on alert".

Explaining his statement, Barzani said "there are no guarantees from Baghdad or the Popular Mobilization Forces (for sustaining the truce)".

Makhmur, which falls to the west of Erbil, Kurdistan Region’s capital, is a home to an Arab majority and a Kurdish minority. It was the stage of a military standoff between the two sides last October.

Iraqi forces took over Makhmur and other regions disputed with Kurdistan in October in response to a referendum the autonomous region held in September when a majority of citizens voted for independence from Iraq, a step which Baghdad deemed unconstitutional.

Both governments have recently exchanged official visits in order to resolve the crisis that resulted from the referendum, with reports suggesting an approach towards a resolution. Erbil hopes to lift penalties imposed by Baghdad over the referendum, including an embargo on the region’s airports and border crossings.

Israel’s UN ambassador says Iran controls 82,000 fighters in Syria
[IsraelTimes] Israel’s envoy to the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
says there are 3,000 soldiers from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria, accusing Tehran of seeking to turn the country "into the largest military base in the world."

Addressing the Security Council, Danny Danon says Iran controls 82,000 fighters in Syria, including 9,000 members of the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah, 10,000 Shiite snuffies from Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistain, and another 60,000 Syrians.

"We are releasing this classified information because it is vital for the world to understand that if we turn a blind eye in Syria, the Iranian threat will only grow," he says.

Danon goes on to say the size of the Iranian-backed force in Syria is proof of Tehran’s intentions to sow chaos in the region and threaten Israel.

California firearms manufacturer moving to Wyoming
[SANLUISOBISPO] Firearms manufacturer Weatherby Inc. is relocating its manufacturing operations and corporate headquarters from Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, to Wyoming, marking another catch by Wyoming of a company abandoning a state that isn't as gun friendly.

Weatherby's move to Sheridan is expected to create 70 to 90 jobs and more than $5 million in annual payroll over the next five years.

Company and state officials, including Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead, announced the move Tuesday at a gun industry trade show in Las Vegas.

"We wanted a place where we could retain a great workforce, and where our employees could live an outdoor lifestyle," Adam Weatherby, chief executive officer of the company, said in a statement. "We wanted to move to a state where we can grow into our brand. Wyoming means new opportunities. We are not interested in maintaining; we are growing."

Teenager guilty of cowardly one-punch attack to fight Australian pro boxer
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] A teenager found guilty of a cowardly one-punch attack in Australia has agreed to fight a professional boxer to raise money for his victim.

Caleb Maraku, 19, who has faced a furious backlash over the shocking video showing him assaulting a fellow teenager, will taken on light heavyweight boxer Kerry Foley.

His 30-year-old opponent has vowed to "teach him a lesson" and promised to make his life a "living hell" in the charity fight.

"I won’t need to go hard but I will make his life a living hell and right at the end I’ll put one on his chin and ice him," he told Australia’s Daily Telegraph.

Mr Maraku showed no remorse after escaping a jail sentence for the attack which left victim Taliesin Tardrew-O'Meara unconscious on the pavement in Surfers Paradise on November 27 last year.

306 terrorists neutralized so far in Turkey's Afrin op
[AA.TR] At least 306 PKK/KCK/PYD-YPG and ISIS forces of Evil have been neutralized since the beginning of the Operation Olive Branch in northwestern Syria, the military said Thursday.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
on Saturday launched Operation Olive Branch to clear PYD/PKK and ISIS forces of Evil from Afrin.

Ottoman Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the forces of Evil in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces carried out Arclight airstrikes on the shelters, positions, arms and equipment of the terrorists, according to a General Staff statement.

All 14 aircraft returned to their bases after hitting 25 terrorist targets, the statement added.

According to the military, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Ottoman Turkish borders and the region as well as protect Syrians from terrorist oppression and cruelty.

The operation is being carried out under the framework of Turkey's rights based on international law, UN Security Council resolutions, its self-defense rights under the UN charter, and respect for Syria's territorial integrity, it said.

The military has also said that only terrorist targets are being destroyed and "utmost importance" is being put on not harming any civilians.

Eiffel Tower may have been target of Spain’s IS cell — report

cell that attacked Barcelona last year.

The protective wall that surrounds the Eiffel Tower was installed after video of a trip to Gay Paree was found in a destroyed hideout, according to the report by researchers Fernando Reinares and Carola Garcia-Calvo in January’s CTC Sentinel, a research publication into terrorism. The cell attacked Barcelona’s La Rambla and a beachside town, killing 16 people in August.

Only flawed bomb construction prevented a deadlier attack. The hideout blew up as the cell was assembling explosives.

According to the report, based on interviews with Sherlocks and court documents, members of the cell traveled to Gay Paree before the attack, for reasons Sherlocks have yet to determine. There, they bought a camera and filmed the Eiffel Tower.

Turkish presidential aide lauds Muslims' role in Europe
[AA.TR] Ottoman Turkish Presidential front man Ibrahim Kalin on Thursday asserted that "Moslems are shown as 'the greatest threat' every day."

Kalin's remarks came during a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital Sarajevo, where he gave a lecture entitled "Islam-West Relations in the 21st Century" at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Sarajevo.

Kalin addressed what he saw as the general patterns of perception about Islam and Moslems.

"When a Moslem person produces something beautiful, it must have been taken from another place, and according to their view, Moslems do not have their own intelligence, capacity, and this work has been taken from Christian art, Jewish art, African art or Indian art.

This is a wrong perception and pattern of thinking. The Moslem countries are not the richest countries in the world. These countries do not have the biggest armies in the world. They do not produce weapons of mass destruction. The Moslem countries do not have the most advanced military technology but somehow, Moslems are represented every day as the greatest threat," said Kalin.

Kalin said Western nations were mostly responsible for this characterization.

"They have the largest armies in the world, they control the world economy, there are weapons of mass destruction, atomic bombs and chemical weapons, that is the difference between perspective and reality," said Kalin.

Public hanging of child rapists & murderers considered as Pakistan mourns 7yo victim
[RT] A Pak Senate committee has proposed to publicly hang those who sexually abuse or murder children. The measure is a response to the gruesome case of a Pak 7-year-old girl who was raped and killed earlier in January.

Part of the Pak Penal Code (PPC) on the punishment of child rapists and murderers currently states: "Whoever kidnaps or abducts any person under the age of 14 in order that such person may be murdered or subjected to grievous hurt... shall be punished with death (sic)." Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior Rehman Malik
Pak politician, Interior Minister under the Gilani government. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Nawaz Sharif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men. He had to give up the interior ministry job because he held dual Brit citizenship.
is now seeking to add the phrase "by hanging publicly" after the word "death."

The amendment has been proposed just one day after Pak authorities locked away
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
a key suspect behind the murder of 7-year-old Zainab Ansari. The girl was kidnapped and later found raped and murdered near the eastern city of Lahore earlier in January. The case prompted mass protests and shockwaves across the country, with demonstrators accusing the government of inaction.

Saudi intelligence agency reportedly brought weapons into Iran
[IsraelTimes] An official news agency reports that Iran’s intelligence agency has confiscated large amounts of weapons and ammunition including bombs and grenades and officials are blaming Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. for bringing them into the country.

Yesterday’s report by the official IRNA news agency says the bombs were seized in the eastern part of the country and accused the Saudi intelligence service of bringing them into the country.

A second operation took place against a "separatist group" in the Kurdish town of Marivan near the Iraqi border, where authorities seized grenades and rockets.

In both areas occasional festivities take place between Iranian forces and IS-linked fighters and krazed killer Kurdish separatists.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly accused rival Iran of sending weapons to Yemen’s Shiite Houthis rebels to fight the Saudi-backed coalition there.

How Obama Made Sure Hillary Would Avoid Criminal Charges in Email Scandal
[Political Insider] A stunning report from former assistant U.S. attorney Andrew McCarthy details exactly how former President Barack Obama made sure that Hillary Clinton would never face an indictment for her criminal use of a private email server.

Published in National Review, McCarthy notes that Obama exchanged about 20 emails using a pseudonym with Hillary on the email server while she served as secretary of state. One of those emails is from Hillary while she was in Russia. The FBI concluded it was very likely that "hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal email account" during this secretive exchange.

Obama and his administration didn’t want anyone to know of his involvement in the email scandal, which is why he once claimed he first learned of the email scandal by watching the news.

Now, we’re learning extra details that show those exchanges contained classified information. This means that if Clinton illegally mishandled this information, it was also mishandled on the other end by Obama. Without an indictment, Obama assumed those exchanges would never surface.

These points made by McCarthy are reinforced by newly released text messages from anti-Trump FBI employees Lisa Page and Peter Strzok. Now we know the rest of the story. Obama was cleaning up the mess:

Security sources were quoted as saying that the operation was carried out by the counter-terrorism and intelligence teams at Urfa province security department.

Authorities, according to the sources, were notified that group of IS members, including big shots, were passing from Syria to Turkey via smugglers. The members infiltrated into Turkey with help of three Kurdish organizations including the Democratic Union Party (PYD) ’s military arm, Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which are labelled in Turkey as terrorists, and the Kurdistan Communities Union.

Trump Admin. Openly Targeting, Deporting Famous Illegals
[CONSERVATIVETRIBUNE] Two high-profile illegal immigrants colonists who attained a degree of fame through their activism have been detained and/or deported by the Trump administration after receiving repeated stays in the past, The Daily Caller has reported.
Oh, come now! If they're "famous" then the law doesn't apply to them does it?
Ravidath Ragbir and Jean Montrevil, both prominent figures within the pro-illegal immigration group New Sanctuary Coalition of New York City, were detained and deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after years of being allowed to stay in the country at the discretion of federal officials ‐ in spite of the fact that both had been convicted of serious crimes.
I mean, where would we be if the laws were applied the same way to everybody?
According to the New York Daily News, Ragbir was detained by ICE on Jan. 11 and informed that that his reprieve from deportation would not be extended further.

Ragbir, executive director of New Sanctuary, was checking in at the ICE office in New York City when he was detained. While Ragbir had immigrated to the United States legally back in 1991 from Trinidad and Tobago, he was convicted of wire fraud in 2000, according to The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

Ragbir received a deportation order in 2006, but in 2011 ICE officials in New York City gave him a reprieve of deportation. That reprieve was extended last April, but ICE officials informed Ragbir that reprieve would not be extended further. A judge will now decide his fate.

One week later, Haitian national Jean Montrevil ‐ a co-founder of New Sanctuary ‐ was deported after being taken into custody in early January. Montrevil, who had entered the United States in 1986, had served time on a drug possession charge and was in the process of appealing a deportation order.

According to The Intercept, Montrevil’s lawyer said his client "believed that he had reached an understanding with ICE officials."

The general consensus among members of the activist community was that these arrests were targeted acts.

"It seems really clear to us that this is an escalation of retaliation, not just against individual rights leaders, but against the right of the movement to exist," Mary Small, policy director for immigrant rights activist group Detention Watch Network, told The New York Times.

Completing this poll entitles you to Conservative Tribune news updates free of charge. You may opt out at anytime. You also agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
While it was perhaps a sign that ICE feels emboldened to go after activists as well as everyday illegal immigrants colonists and those with deportation orders, this hardly seems to be "retaliation" or "escalation." If it is, it is only in the sense that the government has refused to enforce deportation orders, which ‐ at least to some activists ‐ ought to be totally meaningless.

Devin Nunes' Anti-FBI Memo Names James Comey, Rod Rosenstein, and Andrew McCabe
[Daily Beast] A controversial Republican memo alleging surveillance abuse specifically names FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein along with former FBI Director James Comey.

Capitol Hill sources on both sides of the aisle say the memo’s release is only a matter of time. And when it comes out, these current and former officials ‐ all GOP bêtes noires ‐ are likely to face even more criticism from the right over their involvement in FBI counterintelligence work.

Republicans, including Trump himself, have spent months attacking McCabe and Comey while special counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating Team Trump’s connections to the Kremlin. Rosenstein put that probe in place‐a move Trump has derided as a witch hunt.

A groundswell is building to release the memo‐written by Devin Nunes, the California Republican and key Trump ally who chairs the House intelligence committee‐which former FBI agents fear will damage public trust in the bureau. While Democrats say the memo deliberately misrepresents the procedures for obtaining a foreign-intelligence surveillance warrant, The Daily Beast has learned that Hill Republicans are gearing up to use an obscure parliamentary rule to release it.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department has expressed serious concerns about the memo’s potential release. In a letter sent to Nunes on Jan. 24, Stephen Boyd, the department’s top congressional liaison, wrote that "it would be extraordinarily reckless for the Committee to disclose such information publicly without giving the Department and the FBI the opportunity to review the memorandum and to advise the HPSCI [the House intelligence committee] of the risk of harm to national security and to ongoing investigations that could come from public release."

#3  Nothing like being a party to your own firing squad with this bunch at the FBI. Strzok even said in one of his emails that "there's no there there" in regards to the Mueller investigation witch hunt. Strzok, however, wanted to be a part of the take down of Trump. If they want a real witch, look into Hillary. This bunch at the FBI should have been fired and prosecuted long ago. Letting this go on, however, has revealed a great deal about the Swamp.

Kill Shot – The Narrative Takes Two to the Chest; Women in the Infantry Myth Firmly Debunked
[FreeRangeInternational] Newman: Is gender equality desirable?

Peterson: "If you mean equality of outcome than almost certainly it’s undesirable...Men and women won’t sort themselves out into the same categories if you leave them alone to do it on their own accord. We’ve seen that in Scandinavia, it’s 20 to 1 female nurses to male nurses...and approximately the same male engineers to female engineers and that’s the consequences of free choice by men and women in the societies that have gone farther than any other societies to make to make gender equality the purpose of the law. Those are ineradicable differences. You can eradicate them with tremendous social pressure and tyranny but if you leave men and women to make their own choices you will not get equal outcomes."

This answers, once and for all, both the how and why behind forcing women onto the infantry.

The Marine Corps, like all the branches of the armed forces, is helpless against the diktats of our ruling elites. They can’t sit down and spend 30 minutes dismantling liberal dogma on live TV. They fought back against Ash Carter and the idiot Ray Mabus the only way they could, by launching a detailed experiment on the performance of mixed gender infantry units. The results were unequivocal; mixed gender units performed poorly, women Marines were unable to meet the physical demands of infantry combat. Even if they could hack it the critical topic of how infantry Marines socialize to develop the cohesion required to sustain themselves in combat was ignored.
Watched Prof. Peterson on Tucker last evening. A most interesting gentleman.

#3  Well, the IDF, the Pershmerga, and others have done quite well with female combatants. However, they were organized into female only units.

There is nothing gender based about being able to shoot a rifle. The issue is the getting to that point to fire the rifle. They can't hump a 120 lb rucksack for 10 miles at a run and they can't life the power bag for an 8-inch howitzer.

There are a lot of things women can do in combat, and they are deadly at it, ask ISIS, but they can't do a lot of the things necessary to fight as infantry.

Flying and servicing aircraft and helicopters seems about right.

Egypt's war against terrorism: Analysing progress in 2017
Two cute graphs can be seen at the link of the number of counter-terror operations Egypt undertook last year in North Sinai and in the rest of Egypt.
[AlAhram] Egypt saw progress on combating terrorism in 2017, but more needs to be done, especially in activating the roles of the individual and civil society in counter-terrorism efforts.

When analysing the outcome of counter-terrorism policies in 2017, many think tanks in the West and terrorism scholars in Egypt focus only on security while ignoring other aspects of anti-terrorism policies. The conclusion, therefore, is that terrorism is combated through "militarisation" and "security measures".

Terrorism literature specifies three main domains of anti-terrorism policies. First, engaging with terrorist elements directly; second, dealing with terrorism victims; third, preventing the spread of terrorism through inoculating society through effective counter-terrorism programmes.

When applying these three domains to Egypt’s anti-terrorism policies, we find there is real non-military and non-security work being done, but that it needs improvement. It is important to take these three factors into consideration when analysing last year’s efforts to combat terrorism.

In the first domain, last year saw more raids and combat operations by security forces that led to pre-emptive attacks being planned by terrorist cells. Security agencies succeeded in dismantling terrorist cells focused on recruiting new members, such as Amr Saad cell, while continuing the state of emergency in North Sinai, engaging more air strikes targeting terrorists, and prosecuting more terrorist cases in court.

Also, the Supreme Council for Combating Terrorism was formed in July 2017, which in theory is a step in the right direction since this is a body that would at least coordinate efforts to combat terrorism, extremism and decide on a national strategy.

In the second domain, the government continued to pay monetary compensation to victims on a case-by-case basis.

For example, after the attack on al-Rawda Mosque in Beir Abd, President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi ordered payment of LE200,000 to the families of each of those killed, and LE50,000 to each injured victim. The Ministry of Education also waived the fees at government schools for the children of those killed, and a decision was taken to prioritise hiring the offspring of deaders in government offices.

There are some serious shortcomings in defining who is a victim because the 2015 anti-terrorism law does not have an exact definition or compensation clauses for victims. The draft law on victims of terrorism has not yet been ratified by parliament.

In the third domain, inoculating society against extremism, which mostly focuses on addressing the causes of terrorism, existing efforts continue to deal with religious extremism as the main feature of the radicalism responsible for terrorist attacks. But this ignores the political and social dimensions of terrorism in most cases.

Efforts in this domain remain dispersed among various state institutions without a coordinating body. Combating radical ideology on the Internet is a good example because it is necessary for these efforts to be comprehensive and develop suitable messages to reach Internet users who are being targeted by terrorists.

Although the state invested in non-security policies to combat terrorism, this does not mean they were effective. It is indicative, however, that progress was made in how it views counter-terrorism, which is worthy of praise and development, especially since these policies were adopted at a time when Death Eaters planned and carried out substantial attacks last year.

Jan 24 drone attack was on Afghan refugee camp
[GEO.TV] Pakistain Army Spokesperson Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said on Thursday that the January 24 dronezap near the tribal areas targetted an individual who had mixed with Afghan refugees.

In a tweet, the director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations stated that the strike in Spin Thall, Hangu District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was not on any organised terrorists' sanctuary.

"Out of total 54 Afghan Refugees Camps/complexes in Pakistain, 43 are in KP with overlap in FATA," said a blurb shared by ISPR.

It said that the incident validates Pakistain’s stance that the remaining snuffies easily morph into Afghan refugees' camps/complexes.

"Thus their early and dignified return to Afghanistan is essential. Pakistain’s brotherly hospitality to peaceful Afghan Refugees must not be exploited by the terrorists," the blurb stated.

Earlier today, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said that Pakistain sticks to its stance that the recent US dronezap targeted an Afghan refugee camp near Kurram Agency
...home of an intricately interconnected web of poverty, ignorance, and religious fanaticism, where the laws of cause and effect are assumed to be suspended, conveniently located adjacent to Tora Bora...
He was likely responding to a statement by the US Embassy earlier in the day which denied Pakistain's claim that the dronezap struck an Afghan refugee camp.

According to the embassy's spokesperson, "The claim in an MFA [Ministry of Foreign Affairs] statement yesterday that US forces struck an Afghan refugee camp in Kurram Agency yesterday is false."

Pakistain had on Wednesday condemned the dronezap conducted by coalition forces near Kurram Agency and called the unilateral action detrimental to the spirit of cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.

The Foreign Ministry had stated that the strike had targeted an Afghan refugee camp.

According to political administration sources in the area, two people including a commander of the Haqqani Network were killed in the dronezap close to the Orakzai and Kurram Agency border.

Zainab case: Shahid Masood summoned by SC, tells court suspect has 37 foreign accounts
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Thursday summoned television anchor Shahid Masood to provide clarity on revelations he made during a late night show regarding the suspect in the rape and murder case of six-year-old Zainab Amin and other children in Kasur.

Masood, in his show, had alleged that Zainab's suspected rapist and murderer was a member of a pornography gang which also includes a Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

minister.

Masood and Punjab additional advocate general Asma Hamid were both present in court during Thursday's hearing.

Chief Justice of Pakistain Mian Saqib Nisar advised the anchorperson to write down the names of the provincial minister and another high-up he had mentioned during his show. Masood complied and handed over the names written on a piece of paper to the CJP.

A three-judge bench, headed by the CJP, watched footage of Masood's TV show in court and advised the Punjab Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan and a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the evidence provided by the anchorperson.

Hamid told the court that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
had formed a six-member team after the show was aired.

Masood alleged before the judges that the suspect in jug for the murder of Zainab and other children is not "mentally challenged or simpleminded", but rather a "member of an international ring". He has 37 foreign currency bank accounts, and the backing of the country's most important personality and a minister, the anchorperson told the court.

The Kasur incident has come under discussion all over the world, and the CJP, army chief, prime minister and other brass hats should ensure the matter is investigated, Masood said.

The anchorperson raised concerns over the security of the suspect, saying he feared the possibility that he would be killed in police custody. He asked that the suspect be kept in the custody of an intelligence agency.

"The matter of the suspect's security is very important," the CJP said, adding that the responsibility to ensure his security in police custody is the IGP's. "The suspect's security should be foolproof," the CJP asserted.

The court asked Masood to provide details regarding the evidence he had, to which the television personality said he had submitted the details of the suspect's 37 bank accounts to the court.

The court also asked him to provide the names of the important personalities involved in the case, assuring Masood they would be kept secret until the investigation is complete.

"If these accusations are incorrect, it will not be good," the CJP warned.

The case was adjourned until Monday.

Following the hearing today, DawnNews obtained a notification issued by the provincial Home Department which says two new members will be added to the existing JIT probing the case in light of revelations presented in court. The two new members will be a senior officer of the State Bank of Pakistain and a director of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA).

Caught on bodycam: Baltimore cop indicted for planting drugs
[Baltimore Sun] grand jury has indicted a Baltimore police officer on charges of misconduct and fabricating evidence in connection with a body camera video that the public defender’s office said showed him planting drugs.

Officer Richard A. Pinheiro Jr., 29, was charged Tuesday. Prosecutors said there were “alleged questionable evidence-gathering acts captured on body-worn camera footage.”

State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said the charges reflected her pledge “to apply one standard of justice for all.”

“It's critical we remain transparent throughout the process to the extent the law allows as we continue to rebuild community trust,” she said in a statement Wednesday. “Yesterday’s indictment is another example of our office applying justice fairly and equally.”

Body camera footage shows officer planting drugs, public defender says
Pinheiro’s attorney said the officer didn’t break the law.

“Officer Pinheiro simply tried to document the recovery of evidence with his body-worn camera that he had previously recovered,” attorney Michael Davey said. “This is just another overreach by the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office, and an attempt to prosecute a police officer when there’s no evidence to do so.”

The fabricating-evidence charge is a misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment and a $5,000 fine. Misconduct in office is a common-law offense, which means that the court is free to impose any penalty that does not constitute cruel and unusual punishment.

The video was one of three that surfaced in the summer of 2017 that defense attorneys said depicted questionable activity.

In announcing Pinheiro’s indictment, prosecutors said they had cleared three officers involved in another video.

Mosby said at the time that she was troubled by the events captured in that video. She said she was considering reimposing a do-not-call list of problem officers.

Then-Commissioner Kevin Davis had forcefully defended the officers, clashing with Mosby. Prosecutors said in December that they had dropped 56 cases involving the officers.

Mayor Catherine E. Pugh fired Davis last week. She cited the city’s continuing violence.

In a report released Wednesday, prosecutors said they determined “the overwhelming weight of the evidence is more consistent with an error of judgment by the involved officers.”

“The acts on the video were just the recovery of drugs and there is nothing false or fraudulent in the [body camera] videos that would deceive or mislead a reasonable person,” prosecutors said.

Pinheiro’s video, which was released by the public defender’s office in July and quickly drew national attention, shows the officer placing a soup can into a trash-strewn lot.

That portion of the footage was recorded automatically, before the officer activated the camera. Police body cameras have a feature that saves the 30 seconds of video before activation, but without audio.

After placing the can down, the officer walks to the street and flips his camera on.

“I’m gonna go check here,” the officer says. He returns to the lot, picks up the soup can and removes a plastic bag filled with white capsules.

Police said Wednesday that Pinheiro had been suspended since the incident occurred, and would remain so. City records show he was hired by the department in 2011, and in 2016 earned a salary of $62,676, with a net income of $67,570. Officers in Baltimore routinely earn overtime pay.

Spokesman T.J. Smith noted that the department made changes to its body camera policy, requiring officers to “keep their cameras on from the beginning of an event until that event is over and they have left the scene, to ensure that if any additional police actions take place, they are captured on the cameras.”

The public defender’s office flagged the video for prosecutors. Prosecutors dropped the heroin-possession charge against the man arrested. He had been held for more than six months, unable to post $50,000 bail.

US rejects Pakistan’s drone strike claim
[AA.TR] The United States on Thursday rejected Pakistain’s claim that American forces were behind a reported dronezap in northwestern Kurram agency tribal region near Afghanistan border, which killed two suspected hard boyz on Jan. 24.

The U.S. Embassy Islamabad spokesperson, Rick Sinelsine, told local broadcaster Dawn News: "Pakistain’s claim that the U.S. forces have struck an Afghan refugee camp in Kurram agency is false."

Sinelsine, however, did not elaborate if there was any dronezap in the region on that day.

Pakistain insists the dronezap took place in Kurram agency ‐ one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in Pakistain.

"The dronezap on Jan. 24 in Spintal, Hangu district

It added that "Pakistain’s brotherly hospitality to peaceful Afghan refugees must not be exploited by the terrorists."

Islamabad already appears to be reluctant to increase the deadline for return of Afghan refugees despite requests from refugees themselves. And rights groups, which view the security situation in the war-ravaged country as non-conducive for the repatriation of over 2.5 million documented and undocumented refugees.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Trump at Davos: Jerusalem off the table for Palestinians in future talks, if refuse talks then no more money
[IsraelTimes] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
tells Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Paleostinians could face further reductions in aid from the US if they continue to refuse to negotiate a peace agreement with Israel.

Meeting at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
, Trump says "Jerusalem is off the table" for Paleostinians in future peace talks.

"We have discussions going with Israel on many things including trade," Trump says. "But the big move, and something that is very historic and very important, is the fact that we’re moving the embassy to Jerusalem," he says, adding that "it’s way ahead of schedule, by years.

"We anticipate a small version [of the embassy] working sometime next year," Trump tells Netanyahu.

Trump warns Paleostinians to return to the negotiating table with Israel or face further cuts in US aid.

"They disrespected us a week ago by not allowing our great vice president to see them, and we give them hundreds of millions of dollars in aid and support ‐ tremendous numbers, numbers that nobody understands. That money is on the table," he says. "That money is not going to them unless they sit down and negotiate peace," he says. "Because I can tell you that Israel does want to make peace. And they’re going to have to want to make peace too, or we’re going to have nothing to do with it any longer. This was never brought up by other negotiators, but it’s brought up by me."

He adds: "The hardest subject they had to talk about was Jerusalem. We took Jerusalem off the table. So we don’t have to talk about it anymore. They never got past Jerusalem. We took it off the table. We don’t have to talk about it anymore."

He turns to Netanyahu: "You won one point, and you’ll give up some points later in the negotiation, if it ever takes places. I don’t know that it ever will take place."

"But they [Paleostinians] have to respect the process also, and they have to respect the fact that the US has given tremendous support to them over the years, in terms of monetary support and other support. So we’ll see what happens with the grinding of the peace processor. But respect has to be shown to the US, or we’re just not going any further."

Asked questions by the news hounds, Trump says "thank you very much everybody," but then answers:

"We have a proposal for peace. It’s a great proposal for the Paleostinians. I think it’s a very good proposal for Israel. It covers a lot of the things that were over the years discussed and agreed on... There were never any deals that came close, because Jerusalem, you could never get past Jerusalem. People say I set it back. I didn’t set it back. I helped it. Because by taking it off the table, that was the toughest issue. And Israel will pay for that... They’ll do something that’s going to be a very good thing."

He continues: "But they (the Israelis) want to make peace, and I hope the Paleostinians want to make peace. And if they do, everybody’s going to be very happy in the end."

Asked if he’d heard Abbas’s recent remarks castigating the US, Trump says "I didn’t really read his remarks personally. I’m probably better off not seeing them. But we’ve done a lot for them, and hopefully they’ll going to to make peace for their people.

"It’s many years of killing people. It’s many years of killing each other. They have to be tired and disgusted of it.... I think eventually very sound minds ‐ I hope sounds minds ‐ are going to prevail. And it would be a great achievement of mine. I’ve said it from day one."

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) Death Eaters in the eastern part of Syria's Deir al-Zor province killed at least 13 people including seven women on Tuesday, Syrian state media and a war monitoring group reported on Thursday.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the U.S.-led coalition against IS had carried out the air strikes.

Rival military campaigns by the Syrian army with its allies, and by militias backed by a U.S.-led international coalition, last year seized most of IS territory in central and eastern Syria.

The jihadist bad boy group still holds patches of desert on either side of the Euphrates River in Deir al-Zor province, as well as isolated pockets of ground elsewhere in Syria.

The attack targeted Shafah, a village east of the Euphrates, and at least seven women were among 13 dead, the Observatory said. Syrian state media citing local sources as saying coalition air strikes had killed 15 civilians in the village, including seven women.

Asked to comment, the coalition did not specifically say whether it had carried out the strike or not. It referred in an email to an earlier statement saying that coalition strikes had killed an estimated 145-150 IS Death Eaters in a command centre near Shafah last Saturday.

German city bans new refugees as anti-migrant mood increases
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] An eastern German city has imposed a temporary ban on new refugees in an effort to stem a number of recent violent incidents.

Cottbus, about 120 kilometres southeast of Berlin, has been rocked by violence from refugees and right-wing snuffies since the start of this year.

Earlier this week, Brandenburg state police reported that two male Syrian teenagers were nabbed
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
under the suspicion of injuring a German teenager in the face with a knife.

The 16-year-old sustained non life-threatening injuries in what started as an altercation between Syrian and German school acquaintances near a tram station.

The incident happened just days after a group of three Syrian asylum seekers, aged 14, 15 and 17 years old, attacked a man and his wife outside a shopping centre, according to a police statement. The 15-year-old was handed a "negative residency permit" by authorities, effectively ordering him and his father to leave the city.

#1  The 16-year-old sustained non life-threatening injuries in what started as an altercation between Syrian and German school acquaintances near a tram station.

This article (in German) has some background information:

The Syrian pushed the German student against a standing tram wagon. He sliced the student's cheek the cut being centimeters away fro the carotid artery. In addition to the wound to his face the German sustained a defensive to his and and a stabbing wound to his thigh.

The altercation started when German classmates of a girl who'd been sexually attacked, robbed and threatened with death by one of the Syrians confronted these Syrians.

#2  About what one would expect, Elmerert Hupens2660, but very good to have confirmed. Here’s hoping Frau Merkel does not succeed in making a government with the socialists, and has to hold a new election. Even though it would mean European Conservative would have much work to do sooner than planned, to get his candidates elected, and even less time to share his perspective here.

#3  Why do I have the feeling that DJT is the catalyst for this kind of behavior?

The Don starts calling a spade a bloody shovel and "getting away with it" and people go "Hey! Maybe we can do that too!"

Works for me.

Countdown to disaster: Doomsday Clock now 2 minutes to midnight
[RT] Everybody pays attention to them, of course, since they're so objective and accurate. We can all recall when they moved the clock to 2:17 p.m., and before that to 1:10. It's not like they're flaming hysterics trying to convince us that all of humanity is living between 11:55 and midnight.

#5  I remember 1978-ish, back when they had three premiers in a row because they kept dying of old age, and becoming convinced that a Nuclear Sunrise wasn't likely.
It was a color photo if the Soviet Politburo with every member was an old, white haired guy and even the flunkies in the aisles had gray hair! "A room full of paranoid bureaucrat survivors are just not going to have the stones to 'Push The Button!' " or so I thought at the time....

I remember watching the Cuban Missile crisis unfold on TV as I was starting high school.

Fun times were abundant. /sarc
