Hamas releases statement in support of recent Iranian attack on ''Israel''
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has commented on the Iranian retaliatory missile and drone strikes against the occupied territories.

“We in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) consider the military operation carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the occupying Zionist entity as a natural right and a deserved response to the crime of targeting the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the assassination of a number of Revolutionary Guard leaders there,” Hamas said in a statement this morning.

“We affirm the natural right of countries and peoples of the region to defend themselves in the face of Zionist aggression,” the statement read.

Hamas called upon Arab and Islamic nations, the free people of the world, and the resistance forces in the region to continue their support for the Al-Aqsa Flood, and the right of Palestinian people to freedom, independence, and the establishment of their Palestinian state with its capital as Al-Quds.

Al-Islah mercenaries hired by business owners have violent confrontation between rival groups
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Fierce festivities erupted in the center of Taiz city between mercenaries loyal to Saudi-led aggression coalition, resulting in casualties, pro-aggression media outlets reported on Sunday.

According to local sources, the festivities began due to a dispute between the "Al-Naqib and al-Zuqari" electricity companies, which escalated into when the owners of the two companies hired gunnies to settle the dispute between them.

The sources confirmed that the mercenary leader, Hamam Marai, affiliated with the Islah Party, launched an attack on the al-Naqib company.

After the attack, the company owner hired button men from the same factions, leading to violent mostly peaceful mostly peaceful confrontations between the hired elements. This spilled over into confrontations between the hired elements in residential neighborhoods in Tahrir al-Asafal and spread to the streets leading to al-Dabua area.

According to the sources, the festivities resulted in the deaths of two people and several injuries, in addition to causing panic and fear among civilians.

Taiz has been experiencing an unprecedented state of chaos and security breakdown due to the proliferation of armed gangs and wanted individuals belonging to pro-aggression military brigades.

Thousands of Nigeriens protest to remove US troops stationed in northern Niger
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Thousands of people have taken to the streets in the Nigerien capital of Niamey demanding the departure of American forces stationed in northern part of the country.

The move came after the Nigerien authorities canceled the cooperation agreement with Washington last month which dated back to 2012.

According to Agence La Belle France-Presse, the demonstration was called by "Synergy", a group consisting of about ten associations that support the Nigerian authorities and local Islamic organizations.

Crowds gathered in front of the headquarters of the National Assembly in central Niamey, where several figures attended, including official junta’s spokesperson Col. Amadou Abdramane.

Many students participated in the demonstration, during which the protesters chanted, "Down with American imperialism," "Long live the Sahel coalition" (Mali, Burkina Faso

Now it"s the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who"s just doing a bang-up job unless he"s already been deposed...
, and Niger), and "The liberation of the people follows their path."

After the expulsion of the French army at the end of 2023, Niger announced last March that it was abandoning "with immediate effect" a military cooperation agreement with the United States dating back to 2012, considering it "illegal."

Niamey then confirmed that the United States would soon present a draft on the withdrawal of its soldiers. Washington did not want to comment, simply stating that it had contacted the authorities in Niger "to obtain clarification."

It is noteworthy that about a thousand American soldiers are deployed in Niger and they have a large base for drones in Agadez in the northern country.

Senator Mike Lee Brings Business to a Halt in US Senate Until Dems Hold Impeachment Trial for DHS Secretary Mayorkas
[Gateway] Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) on Monday promised to halt US Senate business until Democrats hold an impeachment trial for DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

For weeks now Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has refused to hold the Senate trial for DHS Secretary Mayorkas.

Constitutional expert Hans Von Spakovsky recently informed Grant Stinchfield and the Real America Voice audience that holding an impeachment trial is not an option for Democrats — it’s their duty according to the US Constitution!
Hans Von Spakovsky: The Senate has a special rule that it put in place, a parliamentary rule, to handle impeachments. The rule was implemented back in the 1980s. That rule calls for a trial. There is no language in there whatsoever that simply allows a motion to dismiss and a vote on a motion to dismiss. Plus, look, the Constitution says the House votes on whether to impeach a federal official, and the Senate then is responsible for holding a trial and determining whether they are guilty or should be acquitted. There’s nothing in there about not h not holding a trial and simply throwing it out.
Tonight Senator Lee is holding Democrats accountable and is halting business until Democrats hold the DHS Secretary’s impeachment trial!

Here is Senator Lee’s speech from moments ago.

New RNC chief counsel Spies worked for Romney, Bush, DeSantis, downplayed 2020 election issues
[JustTheNews] "All of these examples, do not mean, by the way, that the election was stolen," Charlie Spies said. "When election officials' incompetence results in catastrophic errors and voters have to be concerned if their vote will count, voters lose their trust in the process,” Spies also wrote.

Charlie Spies, the new Republican National Committee chief counsel, is an election lawyer who worked in support of presidential campaigns for Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Notably, Spies has long downplayed 2020 election issues as the GOP seeks to recapture the White House in the November election.

Last month, then-RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel resigned from her position, following poor fundraising hauls and three consecutive election cycles where Republicans underperformed, and was replaced by North Carolina Republican Party leader Michael Whatley as chairman and Lara Trump as co-chairperson.

After the new leadership was elected, new legal counsel was hired, including Spies as chief counsel, former President Donald Trump attorney Christina Bobb as senior counsel for election integrity, and Bill McGinley as outside counsel for election integrity.

While Bobb and McGinley have both worked for Trump on his campaign and in the White House, respectively, Spies has worked for other GOP presidential candidates in the 2012, 2016, and 2024 elections.

In 2015, while Spies advised pro-Bush PACs, he filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against the Trump Organization. Spies alleged that Trump illegally used his business for campaign purposes when the Trump Organization’s general counsel sent cease-and-desist letters to the Right to Rise leadership PAC, the Club for Growth, and Bush donor Mike Fernandez.

In 2016, Spies was asked by CNN how everyone except Trump “could be so sure” that the election was invulnerable to fraud or being rigged.

Spies told CNN, “A presidential election in America can’t be rigged because there’s multi-levels of checks and balances, and those checks and balances are done in a bipartisan way. Any vote can be tracked, in terms of what’s on the machines, and then you can go back and make sure it wasn’t hampered with, and that’s done by state and local officials who are from different parties across the board, depending on where the election’s taking place.

“And the scale of conspiracy and collaboration that would have to take place to rig a national election would assume that Republican governors and Republican secretaries of state across the county were all working together with Democrats to try and hurt a Republican nominee, and that’s just not plausible,” he continued.

On President Biden’s inauguration day, Spies posted on X , "Congratulations to President Biden and Vice President Harris. May G-d Bless you with wisdom and justice and continue to bless America. #InaugurationDay"

Former Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington told Emerald Robinson on FrankSpeech that Spies’ history was concerning and that “somehow the establishment always keeps its foot in the door, no matter how they pry their way in there.”

She said that Spies is like the people who worked at the RNC during the 2020 election, when they “didn’t do anything to try to preempt the cheating in 2020.”

During a panel with Spies at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2021, Marci McCarthy, who is now chair of the DeKalb County GOP, explained how there was inadequate oversight of ballot adjudication in DeKalb County. Ballot adjudication is when ballots are unable to be processed by a scanner and a two-person team determines the voter’s intent. Spies purportedly didn’t understand how the adjudication worked, leading to McCarthy’s explanation.

Spies also said during the panel, “All of these examples, do not mean, by the way, that the election was stolen. It means that they were out there active and energized and had a message that got people to the polls.”

“We need to instill trust in the system and we need to change some of these laws, but more important is not the lawyers here, but all the political professionals and the politicians and the candidates to have a message that drives people to the polls and we win by such a margin that it’s not going to make a difference,” Spies added.

McCarthy told Robinson that Spies’ hiring was “100% surprising to me, because he really out said that none of this happened and tried to disregard everybody in the room that had genuine concerns, including my own of what I actually experienced, where I was a panelist in DeKalb County, Georgia, and I was adjudicating ballots.”

McCarthy also said, “The man that is the general counsel over election integrity at the RNC gives me heartburn that he’s going to be there and not gonna really be there for us on November 6th. And we’re doing so much to prevent the steal from happening again, and is he going to be there undermining everything that’s happening?”

She noted that the RNC hasn't joined Arizona GOP candidate for U.S. Senate Kari Lake's lawsuit that was appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court while the Georgia GOP has filed an amicus brief along with the Arizona GOP and Delaware GOP. Lake's lawsuit alleges that Arizona’s use of electronic voting machines violates both the U.S. Constitution and state law.

"Where are they? Why aren't they standing up with us across the board?" McCarthy asked of the RNC regarding the lawsuit.

While on the CPAC 2021 panel, Spies said that he was in Antrim County, Mich., during the 2020 election and that there were votes flipped by a machine that were caught and corrected.

“We were suspicious for a long time that perhaps there was a software glitch statewide, because other people use the same software, and there is just zero evidence that’s true,” Spies said.

However, while downplaying some election concerns, Spies has also supported election integrity legislation. Last June, Spies testified as a witness at a House Administration Committee hearing in support of the "American Confidence in Elections Act."

“When election officials' incompetence results in catastrophic errors and voters have to be concerned if their vote will count, voters lose their trust in the process,” Spies wrote in his prepared statement.

“Whether it was in Detroit where in 2020 the majority of precincts were out of balance (meaning the number of votes cast didn’t match the number of voters at the precinct), or a few months ago in Maricopa County, Arizona, where half the polling places on election day had printer and tabulator malfunctions, or in Luzerne County in Pennsylvania where they ran out of paper ballots disenfranchising thousands of voters, or when Pinal County sent out 60,000 erroneous ballots to voters, society’s confidence in the our elections wane. It is understandable when voters have concerns with the efficacy of the electoral process in certain states and territories,” he added.

The RNC and Spies didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
In a decisive moment like this, Israel has to reaffirm its strength by striking back
[Jpost] In the volatile tapestry of Middle Eastern politics, the dawn of April 14, 2024, marked yet another escalation in regional tensions. Hundreds of Iranian drones, cruise, and ballistic missiles targeted Israel, punctuating a period of rising hostilities. However, the resilience of Israel's air defense and its strategic alliances in the region not only thwarted this assault but also signaled the durability of the Israel-Sunni regional alliance, as written on Sunday by our Senior Diplomatic Correspondent, Herb Keinon.

The attack underlines a critical reality: the alliance between Israel and several Sunni Arab nations—forged not out of affinity but as a bulwark against Tehran's aggressive postures—remains intact. Countries like the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, and, unofficially, Saudi Arabia view the threat from Iran as overshadowing other regional disagreements. This shared perspective on security issues, particularly Iran's nuclear ambitions and regional hegemony, underscores the necessity of a unified stance against common threats.

The recent aerial aggression by Iran serves as a stark reminder of what is at stake. Iran’s actions were not just an attempt to destabilize Israel but also was aimed at fracturing the burgeoning alliances Israel has cultivated with Sunni Arab states. This strategy reflects Tehran’s desire to isolate Israel while diverting global attention from its own military capabilities and nuclear aspirations.

However, the implications of any military action extend beyond immediate tactical successes. The regional dynamics are delicate. The Abraham Accords, which marked a significant realignment in Middle Eastern diplomacy, underscore the nuanced balance of maintaining newfound friendships while deterring traditional adversaries. The coordination seen in the wake of the attacks, involving not just Israel but also its regional partners, reflects a multi-national commitment to security that Iran’s provocations have ironically reinforced.

...The risks of escalation are real. Iran’s sophisticated air defenses and the potential for retaliation highlight the gamble inherent in military strikes. Yet, the cost of inaction might be higher, given Iran’s continued aggression and the progress in its nuclear program. Israel’s past reluctance to escalate conflicts could shift, considering the current threats that extend beyond its borders to include significant global implications.
To all our Western "friends" - think of it as a blow for Ukraine.

Chinese pharma firm WuXi that makes life-saving cancer drugs accused of STEALING American's genetic information
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A major Chinese pharma firm is stealing Americans’ genetic information to build a massive worldwide database, lawmakers say.

WuXi AppTec, which has bases in Massachusetts, Delaware, and California devises molecules and tests them in the lab and in animals that US pharmaceutical companies base their medications on, some of which help treat cancer and cystic fibrosis among other serious health issues.

But the company, which has close ties with the Chinese Communist Party, has been found to have gleaned a mountain of Americans' genetic information via hacks and corporate mergers.

Last month, a congressional committee passed a bill to pressure health firms to decouple themselves from the company.

Ongoing investigations have shown that private genetic sequences via blood samples, DNA data, and individuals’ medical histories have landed in Chinese companies’ hands due to hacks and corporate mergers.

Sensitive data is believed to be gathered in China to develop medicines for its military, posing what lawmakers have called a major national security risk funded by US taxpayers.

Brian Mast Torches Nancy Pelosi, Democrats for Pre-Iran Attack Demand of Biden to Stop Transfers of Same Weapons Israel Used to Defend Itself
[Breitbart] Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) is calling out House Democrats, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who urged the Biden administration to “reconsider” the authorization of an arms package transfer to Israel that reportedly includes F-35 fighter jets, after F-35s reportedly helped deter Iran and its proxies’ aerial attacks on Israel Sunday.

Mast’s criticism of 40 House Democrats’ April 5 letter came in a statement to the Daily Caller, as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported an approximately 99 percent intercept rate on the attacks.

“Just last week, Pelosi and the Squad demanded Joe Biden stop transferring ‘offensive weapons’ to Israel,” Mast told the outlet. “This was akin to them calling for the U.S. to abandon Israel in the middle of a war.”

“Can you imagine how much more devastating Iran’s attack would have been if Israel didn’t have American-made fighter jets to shoot down some of these missiles?” Mast added.

Per CNN, F-35s and F-15s were used in defending Israel against the attacks on Sunday, where UAVs, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles were launched at Israel.

“Photos released by the Israeli Air Force early Sunday showed F-35 and F-15 fighter jets returning to their bases in Israel after what were called successful ‘interceptions’ and ‘aerial defense missions,’ CNN reported.

In the April 5 letter to Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Pelosi and 39 other Democrats implored them to reconsider an authorized arms package after seven World Central Kitchen aid workers were, as Israel has said, “unintentionally” killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

“In light of this incident, we strongly urge you to reconsider your recent decision to authorize the transfer of a new arms package to Israel, and to withhold this and any future offensive arms transfers until a full investigation into the airstrike is completed,” the Democrats wrote.

“Given the horrifying facts on the ground, we are also greatly concerned by your recent decision to authorize an arms transfer to Israel, which reportedly includes 1,800 MK-84 2,000-pound bombs, 500 MK-82 500-pound bombs, and 25 F-35A fighter jets,” the letter added.

The arms in this package, which the Washington Post reported was approved in March, would not arrive in Israel for months, per the Caller.

WATCH: Texas Military Border Base Construction in Full Swing
[Breitbart] Nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande some six miles south of Eagle Pass, construction is reaching a fever pitch on one of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s latest border projects. Breitbart Texas captured the progress being made on “Forward Operating Base Eagle,” a military base camp designed to provide housing to 1,800 Texas Army National Guard soldiers deployed to the area as part of Operation Lone Star.

The video shows trucks carrying construction materials arriving at the 80-acre parcel of land acquired by the State. The video captures the groundwork on utilities and foundation preparations for the sprawling project that sits on the edge of the Rio Grande just yards from Mexico.

Abbott announced the project to house Texas National Guard soldiers who are responding to President Joe Biden’s border crisis in February. The Texas governor explained the need for the project saying:

Texas is expanding our border security capabilities by building a new Texas Military Department base camp to increase and improve border security operations in this area. This will increase the ability for a larger number of Texas Military Department soldiers in Eagle Pass to operate more effectively and efficiently.

The new operations base promises dramatic improvements to soldiers’ accommodations, including their own individual rooms, a 700-seat dining facility, a recreational center, laundry facilities, and WiFi access. According to the Texas Military Department, the camp will also provide chaplaincy programs and medical and psychological health facilities.

According to state officials, the Texas National Guard soldiers are currently staying at multiple locations across the region in cramped quarters, apart from fellow soldiers, and sometimes traveling long distances to reach their assigned posts. When completed, the facility will be able to accommodate a surge force of 500 additional soldiers, bringing the total capacity to 2,200 troops.

According to Texas Military Department contracting documents, the state will pay Team Housing Solutions Incorporated, a company in New Braunfels, Texas, $131 million in operating costs through September 2024.

Joe Biden's Parole Pipeline Imports Over 950,000 Foreign Nationals to U.S., Exceeding Population of South Dakota
[Breitbar] President Joe Biden’s parole pipeline has released more than 950,000 foreign nationals into the United States since its inception in January 2023 — exceeding the entire population of South Dakota.

Late last week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released figures for March, showing Biden’s parole pipeline is continuing to release tens of thousands of foreign nationals into the United States interior via the southern border and commercial flights.

From January 2023 through March 2024, more than 950,000 foreign nationals have been released into American communities thanks to Biden’s parole pipeline. The pipeline brings foreign nationals to the U.S. through the administration’s “CBP One” mobile app and “humanitarian parole.”

For perspective, more foreign nationals have arrived in the United States on parole under Biden than there are people living in the state of South Dakota.

The CBP One app, whereby those in northern Mexico schedule appointments at the border for release into the United States interior, has brought more than 547,000 foreign nationals into the country. Those arriving via CBP One are primarily from Venezuela, Haiti, and Mexico.

Likewise, about 404,000 nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela have arrived in the United States on humanitarian parole during the same 15-month period. Those securing humanitarian parole fly into the United States via commercial flights after getting approval from DHS to enter the country.

Specifically, DHS has allowed about 84,000 Cubans, 154,000 Haitians, 69,000 Nicaraguans, and 95,000 Venezuelans to fly to the United States and secure humanitarian parole.

Those getting parole under Biden have a massively high success rate if they apply for the immigration benefit. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL), during a hearing last week, said DHS is approving parole for more than 97 percent of applicants.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas argued that despite the high approval rate, “those [parole] cases are received on an individualized basis.”

Sinaloa Cartel Moving Fentanyl Labs Closer to Texas Border
[Breitbart] Mexican authorities report a shift in the production and distribution of fentanyl as the Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel is moving its operations closer to Texas.

The most recent development comes as Mexico’s federal government began seizing multi-ton shipments of fentanyl precursors in the state of Nuevo Leon. The seizures come as the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel has been moving its laboratories away from Sinaloa into the Monterrey metropolitan area.

In recent days, Mexico’s Navy and the Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risks (COFEPRIS) reported the seizure of more than 120 tons of various chemical precursors from Sinaloa Cartel companies. The seizures occurred in a series of enforcement actions in the Mexican states of Sinaloa and Nuevo Leon. Officials valued the seized chemicals at 87 million pesos in its current form (approximately 5.5 million USD), Mexico’s El Universal reported.

Breitbart Texas first reported on the arrival of the Sinaloa Cartel to Nuevo Leon in 2021. Since then, the criminal organization quietly continued to spread its influence deeper into the region. The main faction of the cartel operating in Monterrey is the Chapitos faction, which law enforcement sources revealed has been working to set up laboratories in the region.

The Monterrey metropolitan area is one of Mexico’s busiest industrial hubs. It is home to hundreds of industrial parks and manufacturing areas that can easily hide the illegal large-scale production facilities needed to manufacture illicit drugs.

Additionally, Monterrey is just a short drive south of the Texas border, with several key cities and ports of entry available for crossing the drugs, such as Piedras Negras, Coahuila; along with Nuevo Laredo, and Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

Earlier this year, a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel linked to Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada began helping the Metros faction of the Gulf Cartel along with gunmen from Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) and other smaller groups. As Breitbart Texas reported, the Metros faction has been waging a fierce turf war with the Escorpiones faction of the Gulf Cartel for over a year. While government officials tried to downplay the issue, the Metros faction and CJNG have been mentioned in various banners and messages left as part of the ongoing turf war.

Russia's arms pact with Iran: Moscow pledges fighter jets and air defenses to Tehran including advanced missiles capable of shooting down US and Israeli stealth planes
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Russian military officials have quietly been supporting Iran with weapons and information as the crisis in the Middle East escalates, it has emerged.

A strategic alliance between the two hostile nations, reports the Washington Post, has seen Russia supply an array of artillery to Iran, including prized anti-aircraft launchers and drones.

The reported deals are evidence of a concerning dynamic between the two nations, which experts warn show Iran is growing in strength and negotiating power as it barrels towards war.

'It’s no longer the patron-client dynamic, where Russia holds all the leverage,' said Hanna Notte, director of the Eurasia Nonproliferation Program at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.

'The Iranians are accruing benefits from this change. The nature of their relationship has gone beyond just getting things. There’s knowledge transfer, there’s intangible gains.'

Experts warned that the growing relationship between Russia and Iran took a large step forward in 2022, when Iran agreed to help bolster the invasion of Ukraine.

This agreement saw Iran supply thousands of battlefield drones and missiles, a move that the Kremlin has reportedly been interested in reciprocating.

Russia has vowed to support Iran with air defense technology and advanced fighter jets, particularly as it is facing the possibility of counter strikes from Israel in the wake of its halted attack on Tel-Aviv last week.

Intelligence officials and weapons experts told the Washington Post that the supply of weapons to Iran make it a far more formidable military in modern warfare if it has an enhanced ability to shoot down planes and missiles.

Such a capability was shown in full force following Iran's strikes on Israel, as international allies helped shoot down almost all drones heading to the nation.

In particular, Iran is said to covet Russia's S-400 anti-aircraft launchers, which military analysts say are able to detect and destroy stealth fighter jets operated by Israel and the United States.
The same S-400s that can’t catch IAF bombers over Syria, even when operated by Russian technicians? I think it’s a brilliant idea.
According to the outlet, a Russian arms dealer was caught inviting a delegation of Iranians to tour one of his weapons factories, named NPP Start, in March 2023.

The factory was under US sanctions for supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and its hosting of the Iranian delegation was not known until February.

That month, a hacker group shared stolen Iranian emails that saw Russians describe the meeting as an exhibition for 'scientific and technical potential and production capabilities.'

While it is not clear whether any weapons were bought in that trip, analysts have seen it as a clear intention that the relationship between the two nations is already forged as they head deeper into conflict.

According to the cited anonymous experts, this collaboration will extend beyond anti-aircraft launchers, and may also include the co-production of military drones inside Russia.

It may also include the sharing of anti-jamming technology, and information sharing over weapons deployment against forces in Ukraine.

The emerging dynamic between Russia and Iran may also be enhancing Iran's air force, which had been seen as falling behind other world militaries.

The Iranian air force is primarily made up of rebuilt US and Soviet jets from before 1979, however intelligence officials warned that Russia has been 'advancing' a deal to supply Su-35 fighter jets.

The fighter jets would be a significant upgrade on Iran's fleet, however the officials reportedly said there is no evidence they have received them yet, which may be due to a delay in payment.

Russia may also be looking to support Iranian efforts to increase its supply of spy satellites, and help build rockets to send more into space, the intelligence officials reportedly said.

The potential step up in Iranian military might comes as the nation continues to barrel towards war with Israel, including sending hundreds of drones and missiles in retaliation for an Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus on April 1.

The strike in Damascus killed two Iranian generals, leading Iran to send its counterstrike directly from its homeland instead of via proxies in a dramatic escalation.

US officials have reportedly stressed the need for restraint from Israel in response, however IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi warned Monday that Iran 'will be met with a response.'

[begin Pedantic Nerd Mode]
Radar works by an emitter sending out radio pulses that bounces off the target and a receiver that detects the fainter returning pulses. From the timing and frequency of the returning pulse, the radar can calculate location and speed of the target.
An attacker can defeat the radar by sending a signal stronger than the returning pulse to blind the receiver, rather like shouting over someone trying to talk. This makes a bright fuzzy blob on the radar screen that hides the attack.
A clever attacker with some inside knowledge of how a particular radar works can send pulses with the correct timing and frequencies to make the radar think it is receiving signals from multiple inbound targets, none of which are real.
[End Pedantic Nerd Mode]

At the time of the festivities in question, there was some open source speculation that the Russians had given the Israelis a peak at the documentation for the Soviet-era air defense systems the Syrians were using. I have no way of knowing if this was true. Another possibility was that the Juice, being tricksy as hobbits, figured this out on their own. Whatever the real story, the Syrian air defenses were rendered ineffective.

Families flee machete-wielding mob as savage gang fight erupts at suburban shopping centre in fresh outbreak of terrifying violence
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Terrified parents have fled a Melbourne shopping centre with their children after a bloody fight broke out between a group of machete-wielding youths.

The group clashed inside the Woodgrove Shopping Centre at Melton in Melbourne's north-west at about 5pm on Monday.

Witnesses claim those involved, who were described as teenagers and Sudanese, were armed with a variety of weapons and were seen waving knives and throwing chairs during the melee.

Victoria Police launched an investigation into the incident after a 15-year-old boy was found injured inside the complex before being taken to hospital.

Two boys, a 15-year-old from Melton South and a 16-year-old from Harkness were arrested on Tuesday and are being interviewed by police.

The 16-year-old has been charged with affray, possessing a prohibited weapon and being armed with criminal intent. He is set to face a children's court on Tuesday afternoon.

Police will charge the 15-year-old with affray, possessing a controlled weapon and being armed with criminal intent and then will be directly presented to a children’s court.

The boy who remains in hospital will be interviewed about the incident once he is released.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Obama's war
[Israeli National News] Weakness and perfidy have set us on the course to regional conflict. There seems to be a contest between Obama and Biden over who can win more approval from the mullahs.

(JNS) Before Iran launched its massive missile and drone attack on Israel, U.S. President Joe Biden warned Iran with his familiar one-word declaration: "Don’t!" Iran didn’t take the admonition seriously. This unprecedented aggression is rooted in the failed policies of former President Barack Obama and Biden himself.

It is conventional wisdom that weakness invites aggression.

Unfortunately, before Biden’s welcome participation in defending Israel against Iran’s onslaught, he badly undermined Israel. Biden criticized Israel’s conduct in the war with Hamas, slammed her democratically elected leadership and threatened to place conditions on the delivery of military supplies.

Biden’s decision to abstain on a biased ceasefire resolution vote at the U.N. and the attacks on the Netanyahu government by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer revealed the anti-Israel sentiments within Biden’s own party.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran strike causes biggest flight disruption since 9/11
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Seems there is a lesson the Dems would learn about their greatest foreign policy coup, a real coup, BTW. But they won't.

[Regnum] More than ten major international airlines experienced disruptions as a result of Iran's attack on Israel. Reuters reported this on April 15.
How terrible!
International airlines faced flight disruptions on Monday after Iranian missile and drone strikes on Israel further reduced capacity for planes flying between Europe and Asia.

It is noted that as a result of the Iranian attack, airlines such as Lufthansa, United Airlines and Air India had to cancel or reschedule flights.

According to the founder of the consulting company OPSGROUP, Mark Zee, the escalation of the Middle East conflict has resulted in the largest disruption of aviation flights since the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001. Due to an Iranian attack on Israeli territory, the aircraft were forced to skirt Iranian airspace a

As Regnum reported, on the night of April 14, Iran carried out a massive attack on Israeli territory using several hundred missiles and drones in response to an Israeli military attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus. The attack by the Iranian army lasted at least five hours. Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi called it the legitimate right of the Iranian side to self-defense.

The Iranian state television channel Press TV reported on April 15 that all hypersonic missiles used in the attack on Israel successfully overcame Israeli air defenses and hit their intended targets. Before this, the TV channel clarified that Iran used at least seven hypersonic missiles during attacks on Israel.

After the Iranian attack, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern about the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, calling for restraint on all parties to the conflict. The Foreign Ministry recalled that the Russian side strongly condemned the attack on the Iranian consulate, but this was not done by the UN Security Council due to the position of Western countries.

Netanyahu urged to sack Defence Minister Gallant
[GEO.TV] Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dismiss Defence Minister Yoav Gallant as Tel Avi’s forces began dismantling the Gal Yosef outpost in the West Bank.

"Defence Minister Gallant’s decision to evacuate and destroy buildings on the Gal Yosef farm, where 14-year old Benjamin Achimeir was murdered, even during the week of shiva [mourning], represents terrible obtuseness, moral confusion, security folly and a violation of the dignity of the dead," Ben-Gvir said.

"Instead of establishing and approving more farms and expanding Jewish settlements, we surrender to the enemy," he said, adding, "The time has come for the prime minister to consider replacing Minister Gallant."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 15, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:32 Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis denied media reports that his country could transfer F-16s to Ukraine. According to him, Greece itself needs to strengthen its defense capabilities.

22:27 US National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby also said that NATO countries will not shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine, like Iranian missiles over Israel. According to him, these are “different conflicts, different airspace, different threat landscapes.” Kirby recalled that Biden made it clear from the very beginning of the war in Ukraine that the United States did not intend to get involved in it “in a combat role.”

22:03 Zelensky admitted in an evening video message that some energy facilities were not sufficiently protected, and “there will be appropriate conclusions.”

21:59 The Czech Republic has already contracted 180 thousand shells for Ukraine and is now working on contracting another 300 thousand, said Prime Minister Petr Fiala. According to him, about 20 countries have joined the initiative.

21:46 The Global Survivors Fund will pay reparations in the amount of 3,000 euros to 500 Ukrainians who suffered from sexual violence by Russians, Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets said. According to him, the Foundation plans to first collect data from victims, then identify whether their testimony is truthful and whether they meet certain criteria. Lubinets emphasized that Russia uses sexual violence as a psychological weapon, a way to intimidate civilians in occupied territories, a tool to humiliate and suppress the Ukrainian people and to torture prisoners of war.

21:28 Western countries also took a direct part in successfully repelling the massive Iranian attack on Israel. The US and UK militaries shot down missiles and drones. After which, naturally, the question arose: why doesn’t this happen over Ukraine? Read more in the material What Ukraine needs from the West .

21:07 In the US House of Representatives, 91 congressmen signed a letter calling on Speaker Mike Johnson to immediately introduce a Senate-approved bill that contains aid to Ukraine and Israel. We are talking about a package worth $95 billion, of which Kyiv is allocated $61 billion. The corresponding letter was published by Congressman Josh Gottheimer.

20:56 The European Commission recommended that the EU Council approve Ukraine’s reform plan within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program for 50 billion euros. According to the EC's assessment, the Ukrainian reform plan "is consistent with the objectives of the Ukraine Facility, identifying key reforms and investments that can contribute to sustainable economic growth and attract investment to strengthen the country's growth potential in the medium and long term." The plan is also the basis for the recovery of Ukraine and contains adequate mechanisms to protect the financial interests of the European Union, the EC added.

20:14 Zelensky said that he held a meeting in Kiev with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide. According to him, the teams of the two countries have already completed the preparation of a bilateral security agreement. The parties also discussed further defense cooperation and strengthening of Ukrainian air defense.

19:38 Macron proposes a ceasefire for the duration of the Olympic Games, including in Ukraine. The Olympic Truce is a modern revival of the ancient Greek tradition of keeping peace during the Olympics. The truce should theoretically last almost two months, starting seven days before the start of each Olympic Games and ending seven days after the end of the Paralympics. However, in modern history there are not many examples of warring states stopping fighting during competitions. Moreover, in recent years, Russia has been the main violator of the Olympic truce. 19:02 Zelensky said that he held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters on two important topics: the front and energy. The President emphasized that physical protection cannot completely protect some objects from enemy attacks - only sufficiently effective air defense can do this.

"The intensity of Russian attacks requires greater unity. By defending Israel, the free world demonstrated that such unity is not only possible, but also one hundred percent effective. The decisive actions of the allies prevented the success of terror and the loss of infrastructure and forced the aggressor to cool down. The same is possible and in protecting Ukraine from terror, which, like Israel, is not a member of NATO. And this does not require the activation of Article 5, only political will is enough,” Zelensky noted.

18:51 Kuleba commented on the information about the US requests not to strike Russian refineries: “We must think in our own interests. If our partners say: we will give you seven Patriot batteries tomorrow, but we ask you not to do this and this, then there is a subject for conversation. And if you don’t have these batteries, you don’t have a care package, and at the same time you are asked not to do something, then what is there to talk about? Then everyone survives as best they can.”

18:46 Russia was able to quickly repair some of its key oil refineries after the Ukrainian attacks, writes Reuters. Thus, the amount of capacity idle due to attacks decreased from almost 14% to about 10% at the end of March. At the same time, the total primary oil refining capacity in the Russian Federation is expected to reach 4.4 million tons in April compared to 4.1 million tons in March. The agency also noted that after the April 2 attacks on the Taneco plant in Tatarstan, there were no reports of successful attacks on large Russian refineries.

17:27 The Netherlands has allocated an additional 4.4 billion euros for military and humanitarian support to Ukraine in the period 2024-2026, the country’s government reported.

17:22 As a result of the Russian strike on the village. Residents of the Lukyansk community of the Kharkov region killed two people and four were injured, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA.

17:18 Budanov predicts that the Russian Federation will launch an offensive in late May - early June: “Russian troops will launch an offensive in late May - early June. I think we will be well prepared for this moment. And we will see how it goes further. Without the help of Western allies It will be catastrophically difficult for us, and only on the condition that, firstly, it comes in sufficient quantities, and secondly, it continues to move forward.”

16:49 In Crimea, as a result of a missile attack by the Defense Forces, a command post in which high-ranking Russian officers were located was hit, Suspilne reports, citing sources in the special services. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced two massive attacks with long-range Storm Shadow missiles on Crimea this afternoon; all air targets were allegedly shot down on approach to the peninsula.

16:24 Zelensky was shown a new attack drone , which resembles the Russian Lancet and is capable of attacking enemy targets at an operational-tactical depth of more than 100 km. The drone is already being used on the front line and has scored its first victories, successfully hitting an anti-aircraft missile system.

14:21 The Washington Post writes that Ukraine’s attacks on Russian refineries are increasing tensions in relations with the United States. Washington is dissuading Ukraine from attacks on Russian oil refineries, fearing rising world prices and escalating war. According to the newspaper, in February, US Vice President Camila Harris asked Zelensky to refrain from attacks on the oil refinery. WP sources say Zelensky and his aides were angered by this, and the president brushed aside the recommendation, unsure if it reflected the Biden administration's consensus position.

In the following weeks, Washington reinforced this warning in numerous conversations with Kiev, and Ukraine began to hit Russian refineries even harder and more often. Defenders of Ukraine's strategy accuse the White House of putting domestic politics ahead of Kyiv's military goals. US officials acknowledge that supporting global energy markets is a priority for the Biden administration.

16:17 British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that Western planes cannot shoot down drones over Ukraine, as they do with Israel, because they want to avoid escalation: “The difficulty is that if you want to avoid escalation in terms of the wider European war, I think that direct interaction between NATO troops and Russian troops should be avoided. This could lead to an escalation of the situation." The minister added that using aircraft "is not necessarily the best way to shoot down missiles and drones; air defense systems are more effective."

16:05 The Russian command has created a new group of troops near the borders of Ukraine. Everything that is known about him is in the material New Group in the Russian Army .

15:46 Russian troops hit the village with a controlled aerial bomb. Lukyansk community of Lipetsk, Kharkov region - two people died, the number of wounded is being established. The hit was in an educational institution, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OBA.

15:18 NATO will transfer five mine-resistant ships to Ukraine, said Navy spokesman Dmitry Pletenchuk. According to him, the crews of minesweepers in Chernihiv and Cherkassy have been trained and are already in service. Three more ships for Ukraine are being prepared for transfer from the Netherlands and Belgium.

14:47 At an extraordinary meeting of the Drone Coalition, Ukraine informed its partners about the situation on the battlefield and the urgent needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense reported. As a result of the meeting, the countries confirmed their contributions and made new ones:

  • Canada will begin transferring 450 SkyRanger multi-role unmanned aerial systems this summer;

  • Lithuania will allocate 3 million euros for the production of FPV drones for Ukraine;

  • The Netherlands confirmed its intention to contract a batch of Heidrun RQ-35 drones for 200 million euros in cooperation with Denmark and Germany;

  • Germany will donate VECTOR 211 reconnaissance drones.

14:36 Norway will help Ukraine look for Patriot air defense systems in other countries, Kuleba said: “The main topic of the negotiations was air defense systems. Norwegian NASAMS have proven themselves extremely positively in Ukraine, and we are grateful that the Norwegian government is making efforts to ensure that Ukraine has "There are more such systems. But the Norwegian government also has the tools and capabilities to help us obtain Patriot systems from other countries. We also discussed this topic in detail today."

14:14 Among the F-16 fighters that Norway will transfer to Ukraine, there will be examples with the latest weapons, Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide said: “There will also be updated aircraft, in better combat shape, and some fuselages that can be used for repairs... Collectively, as a system, this will be a fairly significant contribution. Therefore, the aircraft that will be able to fly will be with the latest weapons."

13:27 Ukraine launched two strikes on Russian military bases on the territory of YugHidroMash in Berdyansk, said Advisor to the Mayor of Mariupol Pyotr Andryushchenko. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of two Storm Shadow missiles over Berdyansk. They also write in public pages about attacks on the military logistics of the Russian Federation.

12:52 Radio Liberty showed a satellite image showing the consequences of a Ukrainian airstrike on Lugansk Machine-Building Plant 100 on Sunday, April 14. In particular, significant damage to at least one building is clearly visible.

12:19 The Russian military in Ukraine is using “amoeba tactics” tactics, said the Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces Eno Mitz: “The Russians are using what can be called “amoeba tactics”. They do not have the capabilities for a deep breakthrough, but they are pushing through everywhere, despite on the lives of their soldiers, their equipment, and hope that somewhere an opportunity will suddenly appear. Given the obviously NATIONWIDE, well coordinated protests.
Has the organizing parties/group/funder(s) been ID'd and placed on the Domestic Terrorist Watch List?

Or does that only happen when Pro-US Conservative groups protest unconstitutional and/or illegal DC Swamp activities?

BTW: Maybe checking the Immigration status of these Dead-to-America chanting flag burners might result in some needed Deportations. At the least, keep them off the Federal dole and Fed employment roles.

Nigeria: chibok abduction anniversary spurs demands for justice
[AFRICANEWS] Militants, alongside relatives of victims of the infamous abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls that sparked global outrage in 2014, gathered in Lagos on Sunday, April 14, to renew calls for the release of the remaining girls in captivity.

The Sunday meeting was organized to mark the 10th anniversary of the abduction that affected 276 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.

"What I would ask the government is to find a way to work towards bringing back our sisters because I know it is only the government that can help us bring back these girls," said Grace Dauda, a rescued Chibok schoolgirl.

Another rescued schoolgirl, Rebecca Malu, added, "They should stay safe. They should stay strong, one day, they will be released like us."

While some girls managed to escape on their own, others have been freed over the years through intense campaigns by civil society organizations and government negotiations. But this human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
activist, Ayo Obe, is calling for more action from the authorities.

"We know that we started with missing persons numbering two hundred and fifty-six; it is already an improvement that we are down to 91. But of course, 91 is 91 lives unaccounted for. We appreciate the fact that so many of them escaped during the abduction itself. We appreciate the fact that the government has brought back so many more of them, but we say that we don"t stop here. We need the momentum that has happened since the mass return during the Buhari administration in 2016-2017 to be maintained. We expected that the remaining girls would have been brought back," she said.

Companions of the beaten Georgian deputy took revenge on his offender in parliament
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A fight broke out in the Georgian parliament during a hearing on the law on foreign agents. Deputies of the ruling Georgian Dream party attacked the leader of the Citizens faction, Aleko Elisashvili, after he hit one of the Dream leaders, Mamuka Mdiraradze.

A meeting in parliament took place on April 15, the legal committee discussed the bill “On the transparency of foreign influence.” During the hearings, Elisashvili attacked the speaker. He ran up to the podium and punched Mdinaradze in the face. Elisashvili was taken out of the hall and the meeting was interrupted.

Elisashvili later stated that he could not listen to the words of “justification of the Russian bill”; in his opinion, deputies with such views “understand only the power of the fist.”

For his part, Mdinaradze said that the opposition planned in advance to disrupt the committee meeting.

Georgian Dream, which was withdrawn in March last year, reintroduced the bill on foreign agents to parliament for consideration on April 3. Opponents of the bill call it a “Russian project” allegedly promoted by Moscow.

Commenting on such accusations against Russia, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov called them absurd and recalled that similar laws apply in many countries.

RSF seizes control of strategic North Darfur town, Mellit
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) gained control of the main headquarters of the joint force in Mellit of north Darfur state on Sunday following heavy festivities broke out between armed movements and the paramilitary forces.

Eyewitnesses told Sudan

It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Tribune that "the RSF took control of the headquarters of the joint force affiliated with the armed movements that signed the Juba Peace Agreement and forced them to withdraw towards El Fasher and some nearby villages."

Pro-RSF outlets broadcast video clips showing the destruction of a large number of armed movement vehicles and the capture of a number of soldiers. The RSF Commander in Central Darfur, Ali Yaqoub, appeared in a video clip in front of the Mellit Administrative Unit.

With the capture of Mellit, the RSF has effectively gained control of all areas north of El Fasher.

North Darfur’s strategic hub, Mellit, sits just 60 kilometres from El-Fasher. This border town plays a crucial role in the region. It acts as a vital checkpoint for humanitarian aid deliveries to Darfur, designated by the government as a crossing point on the key al-Dabba al-Fasher road. Mellit also serves as a gateway for Libyan traffic and boasts one of the largest customs points in all of Darfur.

O. President of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov. On the 15th, speaking from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, Turchynov announced that the main goal of the action in Donbass “is the protection of people.” The price of “protection” was the lives of more than 3,000 civilians of the former Donetsk and Lugansk regions (according to official data for 2014–2016).

-Short Attention Span Theater-
FBI launches criminal probe into Baltimore bridge collapse
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The FBI has launched a criminal probe into the Baltimore bridge collapse that left six construction workers dead last month. The probe will be overseen by the US district attorney's office in Maryland and focus on whether the 22-crew of the Dali left the port knowing the vessel had serious systemic issues, the Washington Post reported on Monday.

There is already a separate federal probe into the deadly collapse of Baltimore¿s Francis Scott Key Bridge by the National Transportation Safety Board. During the initial stages of that probe, investigators are focusing on the electrical power system of the massive container ship that veered off course.

Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, said her agency is gathering data with assistance from Hyundai, the manufacturer of equipment in the ship¿s engine room. Testifying before a U.S. Senate committee, she said investigators have also requested assistance to examine its circuit breakers. 'That is where our focus is right now in this investigation,' she said. 'Of course, that¿s preliminary. It could take different roads, different paths as we continue this investigation.'

Homendy said they¿ve zeroed in on the electrical system. The ship experienced power issues moments before the crash, as evidenced in videos showing its lights going out and coming back on. Investigators are also examining the bridge design and how it could be built with better pier protection 'under today¿s standards,' Homendy said.

The container ship Dali was leaving Baltimore, laden with cargo and headed for Sri Lanka, when it struck one of the bridge¿s supporting columns last month, causing the span to collapse into the Patapsco River and sending six members of a roadwork crew plunging to their deaths. Divers have recovered three bodies from the underwater wreckage, while the remaining three victims are still unaccounted for.

Crews have been working to extract sections of the fallen bridge, including those entangled in a muddy mess at the bottom of the Patapsco River. 'This work is remarkably complex,' Maryland Governor Wes Moore said during a news conference last week. Officials said they still expect to open a third temporary shipping channel by late April, which will allow significantly more commercial traffic to pass through the port of Baltimore. The east coast shipping hub has been closed to most maritime traffic since the bridge collapse, which blocked access to its main channel.

Moore said efforts continue to unload shipping containers from the Dali, which will eventually be refloated once pieces of the fallen bridge have also been lifted from its bow. He said crews aim to remove 178 containers; 34 have been removed so far. Moore also called for bipartisan congressional support to fund construction of a new bridge, saying federal lawmakers came together in 2007 to pay for rebuilding the Interstate 35 bridge in Minnesota after it collapsed into the Mississippi River. He called on members of Congress to visit Maryland and see for themselves.

She said the board’s preliminary report on the crash will likely be released early next month. Safety investigators previously laid out a preliminary timeline leading up to the crash, which federal and state officials have said appeared to be an accident.

Less than an hour after the Dali left Baltimore¿s port in the early hours of March 26, signs of trouble came when numerous alarms sounded. About a minute later, steering commands and rudder orders were issued, and at 1:26 a.m. and 39 seconds, a pilot made a general radio call for nearby tugboats. Just after 1:27 a.m., the pilot commanded the ship to drop an anchor on the left side and issued added steering commands.

About 20 seconds later, the pilot issued a radio call reporting that the Dali had lost all power approaching the bridge. Police had enough time to stop traffic from getting onto the bridge, but not enough to alert the contraction workers. Only two of their bodies have so far been recovered from the water.

The court sides with a convict from Chechnya in a dispute with the colony administration
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The appellate instance did not satisfy the appeal of the colony administration against the decision of the Grozny court, which recognized violations of the rights of a native of Chechnya, Arbi Dandaev, who was convicted in the case of the attack of Basayev’s
... Shamil Salmanovich Basayev, also known by his kunya "Abu Idris" and Emir Abdullah Shamil Abu-Idris (1965-2006). Chechen warlord in the post-Soviet Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, which after his death became the Al Qaeda-linked Caucasus Emirate. In 2015 most of the hard boys changed their allegiance to the local Islamic State affiliate, Vilayat Kavkaz, whereupon a majority chose to escape the Russians hunting them by making hijra to the caliphate in Syria. Some of his projects were the 2004 Beslan school siege and the 2002 Moscow theater hostage crisis...
militants on Dagestan.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, the Supreme Court of Dagestan in March 2009 sentenced Chechen resident Arbi Dandaev to life imprisonment, recognizing that during the militant attack on Dagestan in 1999, Dandaev personally participated in the execution of six servicemen. The Supreme Court of Russia recognized the verdict as legal, and in August 2009 it entered into legal force.

On August 7, 1999, more than a thousand armed fighters led by Shamil Basayev and Jordanian Amir Khattab  (also referred to as Emir Khattab) entered Dagestan from Chechnya. Fighting continued in the republic for more than a month; only on September 15, 1999, Defense Minister Igor Sergeev announced that the territory of Dagestan was completely liberated from the participants in the attack, according to the “Caucasian Knot” certificate “ Invasion of militants in Dagestan (1999) .”

The Supreme Court of Chechnya upheld the decision of the Visaitovsky District Court of Grozny dated June 28, 2022, which partially satisfied Arbi Dandaev’s claim against the colony in the Khabarovsk Territory. Dandaev demanded that the actions of the administration be declared illegal and that compensation be awarded to him for violating the conditions of detention; the district court’s decision was appealed by the colony’s management, as stated in the appeal ruling posted on the website of the Supreme Court of the Republic.

In his lawsuit, Arbi Dandaev stated that “the defendant violated the conditions of detention for a long time.” In particular, according to the document, the Constitution and the Chechen-Russian dictionary were confiscated from the convict, the electricity was turned off during the fasting month of Ramadan, his opportunities for watching films and videos and television programs were limited, and he was kept “in a metal cage during court hearings in a video conference room.” connections."

Arbi Dandaev demanded compensation of 500 thousand rubles. The court ordered the administration of colony No. 6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Khabarovsk Territory to return to Dandaev the brochure “The Constitution of the Russian Federation” and the Chechen-Russian dictionary, declared the power outage during the month of Ramadan illegal and ordered the colony to pay Dandaev ten thousand rubles. The district court did not satisfy the remaining requirements, as indicated in the publication of the Supreme Court.

"In the appeal, the representative of PKU IK-6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Khabarovsk Territory O.V. Shadrina asks the court to cancel the decision as illegal and unfounded, and to make a new decision in the case to refuse to satisfy the claims. In the court of appeal, A.Kh. Dandaev ., participating in the court hearing through the use of video conferencing systems, objected to the arguments of the complaint and asked the court’s decision to be left unchanged,” the document says.

Contrary to the arguments of the appeal, the district court, when determining the amount of compensation for violation of the conditions of detention of the convicted person, “took into account the nature and duration of the violations, the circumstances under which these violations were committed, the amount of compensation corresponds to the principle of reasonableness and fairness,” the Supreme Court indicated.

“The decision of the Visaitovsky District Court of the city of Grozny dated June 28, 2022 is left unchanged and the appeal is not satisfied,” the judge ruled.

Let us remind you that Arbi Dandaev has previously initiated litigation. So, in 2020, he demanded 300 thousand rubles as compensation for moral damages for prolonged detention in solitary confinement in a pre-trial detention center in Makhachkala in 2008-2009. The court refused to satisfy the claim, and Dandaev in a new claim changed the defendant from the Makhachkala pre-trial detention center to the department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for Dagestan. In May 2022, the Kirov District Court of Makhachkala again rejected his claim.

In addition, Dandaev challenged the decision of the Grozny district court, which refused to recognize as illegal the decision of the leadership of the colony in the Sverdlovsk region to place Dandaev on preventive registration as prone to escape. In August 2022, the Supreme Court of Chechnya upheld the decision of the district court.

How Israel will respond: The Middle East is one step closer to a big war
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Semenov

[REGNUM] Iran launched multiple drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday evening. The strike was in response to an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, which killed several Iranian officers, including a senior general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC). This event pushed the Middle East one step further towards a full-scale regional war.

Iranian officials said the shelling of Israel was launched to defend the Islamic Republic's "sovereignty and territorial integrity" and that the attack, which involved "dozens" of missiles and drones, targeted Israeli military bases.

"MISSION COMPLETE"
The IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency described the retaliatory strike on Israel as a "multi-layered attack from four directions" that involved "hundreds of drones and a large number of missiles of various types." According to the agency, the attack involved the Lebanese Hezbollah, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq and the Houthis from the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement. Hezbollah, in particular, said it fired dozens of rockets at Israeli barracks in the Golan Heights.

“The mission is accomplished, the operation is over, and we have no intention of going further,” said Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, thereby removing any questions about the possible continuation of the attacks.

But if Israel decides to “ commit any action against us, whether on our territory or at our facilities in Syria and other places, the next operation will be larger,” the Iranian general emphasized.

The strikes themselves were larger than might have been expected. Tehran probably hopes that if Israel again decides to attack any Iranian targets in Syria, it will now think twice.

It is obvious that the IDF attacked the Iranian consulate on April 1 not in order to involve the United States in the conflict or for other complex combinations, but simply because Tel Aviv ceased to be aware of the consequences of any of its actions, without noticing how it crossed the red line, every for a week, inflicting more and more attacks on Syria, believing that it can continue to do this with impunity.

As much as the Iranian attack may be viewed by skeptics in terms of its military objectives, politically it has unprecedented significance.

Finally, the Iranian leadership has overcome its own fear of direct attacks on Israel and lifted some of the restrictions that it had once imposed on itself. There were fears that any attack could escalate into a region-wide conflict and into a full-scale war between Iran and Israel and the United States. This time, Tehran was obviously ready for any consequences and began to play for higher stakes.

Of course, the circumstances against which this attack took place were also important.

On the one hand, this is the benevolent attitude towards Iran of its former regional opponents in the person of the same Saudi Arabia. Riyadh, obviously, will not support any retaliatory actions by the United States and Israel against Iran and has already called on all parties to show restraint, although a few years ago it itself would not have been averse to joining in retaliatory strikes. Most Arab states, including Egypt and Qatar, took a similar position.

On the other hand, events in Gaza are forcing Iran to act more harshly and assertively than before. The “Arab” and even “Islamic” street is now more likely to be on the side of Tehran than against it, and any retaliatory actions by Israel and the United States could cause waves of protests in Arab countries calling on their governments to support the Islamic Republic, the only Muslim country that dared to challenge the direct challenge Israel and the US and support Gaza.

It is now obvious that the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, in addition to fierce resistance from Hamas itself, was also due to the Israeli command’s fears for its northern borders, where attacks by pro-Iranian forces were also expected. Another question is that nothing prevents the Israelis from returning and resuming the offensive on the same Rafah, but it will be conducted in much more difficult conditions, after losing control over other areas of Gaza.

In a word, Tehran should have taken advantage of the window of opportunity provided, and it took advantage of it.

But what is also obvious is that Iran carried out the attack in such a way as to leave the possibility for Israel to refrain from responding, at least if it directly concerns attacks on Iranian territory.

IRAN PROBABLY WARNED ISRAEL
In this context, interesting are reports that Tehran notified neighboring countries about the upcoming attack on Israel 72 hours before it began.

This was stated by the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. In turn, Israeli officials, in response to questions from Arab media, neither confirmed nor denied that Iran had informed Israel about the nature and timing of its attack.

An independent expert in the field of conflicts in Africa and the Middle East, Anton Mardasov, agrees with this, who told Regnum news agency : “ On the one hand, Iran provided the maximum, essentially a limited strike with “special effects” - wave launches of loitering ammunition, drone illumination, boosters on cruise missiles, etc. On the other hand, Israel's allies not only received time to prepare ground infrastructure, but, obviously, information about timing for organizing air duty. The system of such “warning” is not new - it is known that during Iran’s last attack on an American base after the liquidation of Soleimani, information about the nature and time of the attack was transmitted to the United States through Iraqi and Qatari intermediaries.”

On Friday, just a day before the Iranian strike, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant and senior military officers met with the head of US Central Command at an airbase in Israel, where they discussed plans to defend Israel, as if they already knew the attack was imminent and when it would begin.

And ahead of the attack late Saturday, the Israeli military announced restrictions on public gatherings and school closures, and ordered people in the occupied Golan Heights in the north and several areas in the south to stay close to shelters.

Also on Saturday, Britain sent RAF planes and tankers to the Middle East to help intercept drone attacks. The fact that British pilots shot down “several” Iranian drones was confirmed on Sunday by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

In turn, US President Joe Biden condemned the “unprecedented” attack and said that US aircraft and two US destroyers, one of which Washington deployed to the region last week, helped intercept the attack.

"Through the deployment and exceptional skill of our troops, we helped Israel destroy nearly all incoming drones and missiles," Biden said.

France also provided assistance to Israel in repelling the attack.

RECONNAISSANCE IN FORCE
Israeli officials confirmed that Iran fired more than 300 air delivery vehicles, 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles. Israel also confirmed that Iran's regional allies in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen also launched missiles and drones at Israel.

Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli military, said that 99 percent of the missiles and drones were intercepted. A Bedouin girl was seriously wounded by shrapnel in the south and an air force base "sustained minor damage" but there were no other reports of serious damage, he said.

However, the data presented by Israel seems to be largely exaggerated, especially when it comes to ballistic missiles.

Thus, on April 13-14, some of the drones and missiles were shot down by the American Air Force and air defense systems over Iraq, another part was shot down over Jordan by local air defense systems, US and British aviation, another part was intercepted by the IDF Air Force over Syria, and only then did Israeli layered air defense and missile defense systems operate.

"Arrow" is a long-range system focused primarily on intercepting ballistic missiles, followed by "David's Sling" - a medium-range anti-missile system, and next in line is "Iron Dome", designed to intercept missiles, including MLRS shells, shorter range. In addition, the American Patriot air defense systems are also in service with Israel.

Israel's entire missile defense/air defense system was created with direct assistance from the United States, which has provided $3.4 billion in funding for Israeli missile defense since 2009.

According to Mardasov, it is noteworthy that several missiles still managed to break through the defenses and hit the Nevatim base without causing significant damage to it, which, by the way, raises the question of the nature of the missiles equipped with warheads.

At the same time, the expert emphasizes, “ the Iranians not only gained experience in a massive attack and assessed in practice the real mechanism for connecting the United States, Great Britain, and Jordan to repel an attack, but also worked out purely technical actions - timing, formation routes, targeted cyber attacks, etc. ”

Also, as Mardasov noted, it is possible that the attack by some UAVs and missiles that were fired by Iranian proxy forces from Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon was more of a spontaneous support rather than a coordinated action.

By striking from its territory, Iran not only demonstrated its determination to directly attack Israel, but also actually diverted its allies along the “axis of resistance” from a serious Israeli counterattack on their positions.

However, their participation, albeit small and uncoordinated, could also enable Israel to respond to this attack without resorting directly to an attack on Iranian territory, thereby keeping the escalation under control without abandoning retaliatory actions.

Although this will contradict the rules of Tel Aviv, which, even if it takes asymmetrical retaliatory actions, their asymmetry is manifested precisely in more massive retaliation than the reason itself.

REPLY TO REPLY
American publications note that the Israeli Prime Minister allegedly refused a retaliatory strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

However, despite further conclusions that the White House managed to persuade Tel Aviv from retaliating, the fact that the emphasis was placed specifically on nuclear facilities makes us assume that the Israeli leadership is still considering the possibility of launching a strike directly on Iranian territory. but for other, non-nuclear facilities.

In addition, there may be other asymmetric response scenarios.

Earlier in a statement on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to signal that a military response was likely: “ We have established a clear principle: whoever harms us, we will harm them. We will protect ourselves from any threat."

Netanyahu added that any response "will be measured."

Moreover, hardliners in Israel have already demanded drastic measures, and if Netanyahu abstains, he may lose his last allies.

“ We need a crushing attack [on Iran],” Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s ultranationalist minister of national security, wrote on social media.

It is also interesting that Israeli statements also included accusations against Iran of a different kind, namely that Tehran supplies Russia with weapons. These statements indicate a strengthening of the axis between Israel and its European and American allies.

“Iran’s attack on Israel, its threats against the United States and the supply of weapons to Russia threaten world peace,” said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Hayat.

NEW REALITY
Until now, Iran and Israel have avoided direct confrontation. Despite their long history of rivalry, the two countries have never engaged in a confrontation involving strikes launched from their own territory on their own behalf.

Although Western sources indicate that once - in 2018 - Iranian forces based in Syria opened fire on Israel in response to IDF shelling of Syrian territory. But even here, questions remain about the affiliation of these units, which most likely were not Iranian after all, but belonged to the IRGC-backed Shiite jihadist groups.

Therefore, the Middle East finds itself in a new reality, where all lines of development of escalation are now difficult to predict and at each turn there is a risk of “falling into a tailspin,” that is, into an uncontrollable spiral.

Indeed, until recently, the very possibility of a direct attack by Iran on Israeli territory seemed unlikely. Thus, the escalation has already reached a new critical level.

If Israel decides to strike at Iranian territory, this is the riskiest scenario, which could lead to an even more massive response from Tehran.

Iran will then most likely act without warning and strike in such a way as to make interception of targets more difficult rather than easier.

This could provoke a new stage of the “sea war,” as Iran has already made clear by seizing another tanker in the Strait of Hormuz in anticipation of the attack. It is also possible that Hezbollah will increase its activity on the northern borders of Israel and the Islamic Resistance of Iraq on the Golan.

At the same time, Israel, in response to the Iranian attack, can itself inflict more massive attacks on the Lebanese Hezbollah forces than before, avoiding an attack on Iranian territory.

In addition, Tel Aviv here may not limit itself to just air attacks, but launch a full-scale ground operation against Iranian allies, for which it has everything ready. This is what could have prompted Netanyahu to withdraw his troops from Gaza in order to use them in operations against Hezbollah.

NETANYAHU'S TWO TASKS
The specter of the October 7th attacks will continue to loom over Israel, and Hezbollah's military capabilities now appear to be a permanent sword raised over the Jewish state, ready to repeat October 7th on a larger scale.

Here Netanyahu solves two problems at once.

Namely, the prolongation of the activities of the military government, with which the very future of the Israeli prime minister is connected, seeking to avoid criminal prosecution and resignation, and a shift in emphasis from Gaza, where IDF operations have reached a dead end.

Now, in order to abandon plans for the complete destruction of Hamas, a weighty argument may arise in the form of the need to respond to Iranian attacks. Naturally, this option could lead to a new round of escalation and force Iran to more actively support its ally. And this already risks drawing Israel’s European and American allies into the conflict.

In addition, the issue of the attack on Rafah has not been removed from the agenda, despite the IDF’s withdrawal from Gaza.

Finally, another scenario could involve attacks on Iranian allies without the use of ground forces.

In themselves, limited strikes on Iranian proxies in the region are no longer something new, but this will avoid a new Iranian response if the Iranians themselves do not come under attack. But even the more massive nature of these attacks is unlikely to suit Tel Aviv as an “act of retaliation,” although it will avoid escalation, and, apparently, this is the response that the Americans and Europeans will try to persuade the Israelis to respond to.

***

In any case, it should be considered that from Iran's perspective, the question is whether the equation of escalation and de-escalation has fundamentally changed.

If the Iranians truly implement a new policy whereby from now on any Israeli strike against Iranian personnel and assets will be met with a significant direct response aimed at Israeli territory, perhaps a new formula for containing Israel is now being born, which, however, could lead the entire region to a full-scale conflict.

But in any case, the United States will likely encourage Israel to respond with restraint and make efforts to prevent an escalating regional war.

Avdeevsk direction: offensive northeast of Avdievka

Russian troops continue to build on their success west of Avdeevka.

Assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces are advancing in Semyonovka. At the moment, more than half of the village is under the control of Russian forces; attack aircraft are occupying new positions in dilapidated houses. The total advance was at least 700 meters.

The enemy holds the northern outskirts, relying on the forest belt adjacent to the settlement. The field east of the village most likely came under the control of Russian forces, since in the conditions of lack of supplies there is no place for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hold positions there.

In addition to the offensive west of Avdievka, Russian troops continue to build on their success on the northern flank.

Simultaneously with the entry of the assault troops into the territory of the Zarya holiday village, the Russian Armed Forces attempted an attack with an armored group to the west.

Several units of armored vehicles reached the forest belt on the outskirts of the settlement and came under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The exact zone of control is unclear, but at least part of the forest belt to the south and east is under the control of Russian troops, as confirmed by footage of the attack.

Based on the video published by the enemy of the use of cluster munitions on Russian infantry, it becomes clear that the advanced groups of attack aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces tried to advance through the forest belt even further to the west, but the outcome of the battle is unknown.

12:25 Chasov Yar.

According to incoming messages, our units are slowly but surely trying to align the flanks on the Artemovsky direction from Bogdanovka (north) and Ivanovsky (south).

The advance of our guys in these areas is recognized, among other things, by the enemy’s resources.

Nevertheless, the imminent approach to Chasov Yar from the southern and northern flanks to cover the city and begin its full-fledged assault is still far away. In addition to capturing a number of large enemy strongholds, it will also be necessary to force the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal.

Heavy fighting continues. Separately, keep your fingers crossed for the paratroopers of the 98th Airborne Division, who are now holding positions on the eastern outskirts of the city.

11:48 Avdeevskoe direction. Northern flank (Ocheretino) –map.

The enemy indirectly confirms our evening report in the morning. It is reported about the advance of our army and the consolidation of St. "Zarya", as well as the entry of advanced groups into the village. Novobakhmutovka.

Active progress continued throughout the night. Aerospace forces and heavy artillery worked to strengthen the enemy. At these moments, the advanced groups moved forward.

Internal split in SLM-TC leads to clashes in El Fasher
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Bloody festivities erupted in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Saturday between a faction of the Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Liberation Movement-Transitional Council (SLM-TC) and a breakaway group. The fighting caused casualties on both sides.

For months, the SLM-TC has been grappling with internal disagreements over its stance in the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Some leaders advocate for supporting the army, while others favour neutrality.

These divisions led to a split. A new faction emerged under the leadership of Salah Rasas, who, along with other political and military figures, declared their allegiance to the Sudanese army and readiness to fight the RSF. Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?

Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.

If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!...

the SLM-TC leader, al-Hadi Idris, maintains a neutral position, refusing to side with either party in the military conflict.

Military sources informed Sudan Tribune that "a group affiliated with the SLM-TC, led by al-Hadi Idris, was attacked near Abu Shouk camp by a splinter group from the movement led by General Osman Abdel-Jabbar, while withdrawing from El Fasher." The attack resulted in the deaths of soldiers from both sides.

The Transitional Council’s military spokesperson issued a statement condemning the incident as a "treacherous attack" by armed forces and allied movements on a battalion affiliated with the SLM-TC while on a mission from El Fasher to the Korma military region. He claimed their forces repelled the attack, inflicting losses on the attackers, and successfully reached their destination.

The statement further announced casualties among their ranks and vowed a measured response against the aggressors, emphasizing that they would "pay a heavy price for this sinful and cowardly act."

In late March, the SLM-TC withdrew from the joint force formed by armed movements that signed the Juba Agreement. They attributed the decision to the "treasonous" defection of a group led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdeen Musa, who sought refuge with the Sudanese army in El Fasher. The SLM-TC considers this a violation of the Juba Agreement and its principles.

Houston IRS office forced to close early after fight breaks out: 'I ain't doing no playing'
[FoxNews] Hundreds of people had lined up to get assistance with their taxes 2 days before the deadline

An IRS office in Houston was forced to close early over the weekend – just two days before the Tax Day deadline – after a fight broke out and people rushed into the building to get help with their taxes.

It happened during the IRS' Tax Assistance event. Hundreds of people lined up early Saturday morning in hopes of getting help with their taxes before the Monday deadline, but were blindsided as the office abruptly closed due to a fight between two people waiting in line.
When you leave it to the last minute, little things like this can ruin everything.
"They opened the gates like around 9 or 10 a.m. and I think a couple of people started fighting, so after that, they told everybody to go home," Katrel Johnson, a visitor at the tax center who drove more than two hours for tax help, told FOX 26.

To add more chaos to the situation, FOX 26 reported that a large crowd of people tried to enter the building at the same time.

"All of a sudden everybody went in when they opened the door, and bum rushed and started skipping," said Tonya Johnson, a visitor at the IRS center.

The office was supposed to close at 4 pm, according to website hours, but instead closed right before 11 am, leaving many frustrated.

"I ain’t doing no playing. This is the second month I came out here, and I’m not going to play with the IRS," one angry taxpayer told FOX 26.

In a statement sent to FOX 26, the IRS said in part- "delays on Saturday occurred due to overwhelming taxpayer demand for assistance, and the IRS is committed to serving those who weren’t able to receive help in person."

"Unfortunately, they did everything as a walk-in, no appointments and that’s really what caused all these problems," said Henry Castro, another visitor at the IRS center.

The IRS also said it tried to collect the names and numbers of people who were unable to get help. It promised to offer further assistance to them throughout the week and to fully staff its offices and phone lines.

The deadline to file taxes, or file for an extension, is Monday, April 15.

Why not eliminate mandatory filing until DC is required to have and meet a constitutional mandatory Balanced Budget, based on federal last year's revenues?

Seriously, Lately all they do is take, take, take and invent new ways to take more and then give $$$ Billions to other countries, companies and/or steer $million$ towards themselves and family.

BTW:
Read Fed Tax comment in another blog, that purposed automatic tax refunds spread across actual tax paying citizens. The divided amount equal to the DC amount spend on things other than Federal required operations, and the needed care protecting of US Citizens. With the illegal DC spent amount deducted from Congressional/WH operational budgets.

2) The general quality and knowledge of IRS office rats is abysmal; I've had to correct some of these clowns on my few occasions into the local offices, and they weren't happy about it because I did it in front of a small crowd in the waiting room each time. I fuckin' loved it.

3) Now let me get all these extensions out the door; they're not being sent to Kansas City because that's the largest IRS facility in the US, and I know for a fact that as of August 2020 there were 2 million unopened pieces of mail in that facility due to IRS laziness Covid. A year later, this happened. That would explain why my clients were getting barraged with penalty letters (i.e., my 2020 and 2021 extensions were sent to KC). It's not that hard to put two and two together.

The government supports the project on the right of bailiffs to use weapons
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Commission on Legislative Activities of the Russian Government supported the Ministry of Justice's bill on empowering bailiffs to use physical force, special means and firearms, TASS reported on April 15, citing a source.

The document involves introducing amendments to the law “On Compulsory Enforcement Bodies of the Russian Federation.” According to it, bailiffs will have to warn about this before using force and give citizens time to comply with demands, if this does not create a danger to life and health.

The bill notes that force or weapons should be used taking into account the nature and degree of danger of the offense. If necessary, bailiffs will be required to provide medical assistance to those who have been injured.

As IA Regnum reported, in November 2023, the head of the bailiff department for Ryazan and the Ryazan region was shot dead in Ryazan. The murder suspect was detained and arrested.

In January last year, four people were detained in Anapa for preparing an attempt on the life of a bailiff service officer. As investigators established, they wanted to set fire to his house and car and were looking for perpetrators for this.

Fire at Scranton Munitions Factory Producing 155mm Artillery Shells
[RussiaToday] The US Army factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania that specializes in artillery ammunition caught fire on Monday afternoon, according to local media reports and eyewitnesses.

The Scranton Army Ammunition Plant started spewing black smoke shortly before 3pm local time. Local emergency services were summoned to deal with what was described as a “structure fire.”

No further details were available.

The Joint Munitions Command (JMC) facility is owned by the US military but operated by General Dynamics-Ordnance and Tactical Systems. It makes 155mm and 105mm artillery projectiles, 120mm mortar rounds, 203mm naval shells, as well as a variety of smoke, illumination and incendiary rounds.

The US has been trying to ramp up production of artillery ammunition to supply Ukraine for its conflict with Russia.

Scranton is a community of about 75,000 residents in northeastern Pennsylvania. It is the birthplace of US President Joe Biden. He is scheduled to visit the town on Tuesday.
WNEP adds:
Fire crews responded to the heat treat building at the facility in downtown Scranton around 3:20 p.m.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames shortly after arriving.

Officials say no one was injured, and all personnel have been accounted for.

There is no word yet on the severity of the damage caused by the fire or the impacts it will have on production within the 495,000-square-foot plant which is run by General Dynamics.

The cause of the fire is under investigation in Lackawanna County.

Married teacher caught naked in car with male student, 17, is the wife of Harvard-educated Department of Defense commander and they have a daughter the same age as her victim
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The husband of the Nebraska teacher accused of having sex with one of her students has been revealed as a Harvard-educated deputy at the Department of Defense.

Erin Ward, 45, was charged with one count of felony sexual abuse by a school employee after she was found naked with the high school boy, 17, in her husband's car.

Now, DailyMail.com can reveal her husband is a high-ranking US government employee who has worked with the Department of Defense for nearly two decades.

William Douglas 'Doug' Ward, 53, was appointed Deputy Director of the Commander's Action Group and Senior Nuclear Deterrence Advisor at the United States Strategic Command in February.

His LinkedIn shows he worked with the Strategic Command since 2005 and initially served as a Deputy Branch Chief.

The Strategic Command, which is headquartered in Omaha, is a military unit that detects and deters attacks against the country and its allies.

In addition to his impressive job title, Doug graduated from the Harvard Extension School in 2021 with a master's degree in political science and government.

The father of three posted a photo dressed in his cap and gown to X, formerly Twitter, as he attended a virtual graduation ceremony during the pandemic.

The couple share a home in Gretna, just outside Omaha, with their three teenage children.

Their adopted daughter is a 10th grade student around the same age as the boy Ward is charged with abusing.

The 45-year-old worked as a substitute teacher at several metro area schools. It was at Burke she met the teenage boy with whom she was found in the early-morning hours of April 13.

Around 3 a.m., Douglas County deputies were called to investigate a suspicious car parked on a dead-end road.

There, they found Ward and the victim inside a Honda Pilot 'determined to be owned by Ward and her spouse,' the Douglas County Sheriff's Office wrote in a press release.

The 17-year-old jumped into the drivers seat and sped off in the SUV, crashing into a yard two blocks away. He then fled on foot, wearing only a t-shirt, boxers and socks, and was found about an hour later.

Ward was getting dressed in the back seat when deputies approached.

They recovered an Omaha Public Schools employee ID from inside the car. Ward confirmed she was a substitute teacher at Burke, where the teen was enrolled, and admitted to having sexual intercourse with him.

As the age of consent in Nebraska is 16, Ward was not charged with statutory rape, but faces a Class IIA felony charge carrying up to 20 years in prison.

Palestine activists try to bring America to its knees with three multi-pronged attack on San Francisco, Chicago and Philly, also Detroit
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Palestine activists have blocked the Brooklyn Bridge, the Golden Gate and roads to the Chicago O'Hare Airport in a coordinated attempt to bring America to its knees.
They’re delusional.
On Monday afternoon, more anti-Israel protestors took to the Brooklyn Bridge and were seen walking through traffic, chanting, banging drums and igniting flares.

Multiple protestors were arrested by NYPD officers as they attempted to block traffic on the bridge.

Pro-Palestinian supporters have used Monday's tax day as a way to make a statement in a nationwide 'A15' protest.

The economic blockade is happening in solidarity with Palestine and has called for an arms embargo and an end to US taxpayer funding for Israel.

Other protests broke out on Monday morning on a Philadelphia intersection and on Highway 880 in Oakland, California.

The lesson 'Talking about important things' dedicated to the 215th anniversary of Gogol’s birth
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Russia takes a deep dive into the more positive aspects of her history, as she climbs out of the darkness of the last 100 years.

[Regnum] In Russian schools, the lesson “Talking about Important Things” on April 15 was dedicated to the 215th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol.

“The session from the series of meetings “Conversations about Important Things” on April 15 will be dedicated to the life of a writer,” reported on the “Conversations About Important Things” website.

It is noted that during the lesson, schoolchildren will become familiar with fragments of the writer’s biography, including his childhood and gymnasium years. The children will be able to imagine what Gogol was like as a child and find out how early he showed a desire to learn new things and create, to serve his Fatherland.

For primary grades, the main part of the lesson will be held as a virtual journey through time. Children will be introduced to some events in Gogol's biography, the teacher will focus on the writer's childhood and youth, and will discuss with the children his attitude to the Russian language.

Senior school participants will be reminded that Gogol learned to read and write early; his father instilled in the future writer a love of literature and encouraged him to perform in the home theater.

The guest of honor at the lesson dedicated to Gogol was the honored cultural worker, director of the Moscow Gogol House Vera Vikulova. Within the walls of this house the writer not only lived, but also created.

“Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol is a personality of his time. He sought the purity of the Russian word, impeccability. He understood his talent, that he had this gift, and he worked every day, embodying his stories on paper,” Vikulova noted.

Gogol was born on April 1, 1809 in the Poltava province. The first major literary work that laid the foundation for his fame was the story “Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka.” In literature lessons, schoolchildren study Gogol's works "The Inspector General", "Dead Souls", "Taras Bulba".

It's not "ethnic cleasing" when they all remain in Gaza - getting fat on free food - putting an occaasional "starving children skit" on for passing journalists.
It is however "occupation" - an occupation of Jewish land by Allanbeasts.

Least developed countries getting poorer as gap with richer nations widens
[AFRICANEWS] A report unveiled Monday (Apr. 15) by the World Bank reveals that one-half of the world’s 75 most vulnerable countries are facing a widening income gap with the wealthiest economies for the first time in this century.
That couldn"t possibly be because the world"s least developed countries are dictatorships, military or otherwise, kleptocracies, or otherwise what"s known as a "shithole."
The world"s most vulnerable economies are eligible for low-interest loans and grants from the World Bank’s International Development Association are known as IDA countries.

Over half of all them —39 in all—are in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Over 2020-24, average per capita incomes in half of IDA countries have been growing more slowly than those of wealthy economies.

Despite some progress over the first two decades of this century, significant development gaps persisted. The shock of the pandemic and subsequent overlapping crises has exacerbated the challenges facing IDA nations.

Among them, 31 have per capita incomes of less than $1,315 a year.

The report titled The Great Reversal: Prospects, Risks, and Policies in International Development Association Countries, offers a comprehensive look at the opportunities and risks confronting these 75 countries.

It notes that IDA countries have several important demographic and resource advantages that could—if leveraged effectively—help close development gaps.

IDA nations are home to a quarter of humanity—1.9 billion people.

One out of three IDA countries is poorer, on average, than it was on the eve of the COVID-19 pandemic

The core days of the 2024 World Bank Spring Meetings will be from April 17-19, with ancillary meetings taking place Monday, April 15 through Saturday April 20.

Illegal migrant convicted of child rape arrested after district court ignored detainer request
[FoxNews] The migrant first entered the country illegally in 2021

An illegal immigrant from Brazil charged with child rape was recently arrested after a Massachusetts District Court ignored a detainer request from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and let him back into the community.

Per Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston, Border Patrol Arizona arrested the Brazilian illegal immigrant in July 2021 then released him into custody.

The illegal alien was arrested in Massachusetts for child rape last December, but Milford District Court ignored a detainer request from ICE and released the migrant into the community on $5,000 bail without notice in late January.

Deportation officers from ERO Boston arrested the 20-year-old on March 28 near his residence in Lowell, Massachusetts.

"This Brazilian noncitizen is accused of sexually abusing a Massachusetts minor," said ICE Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons in a statement. "Every second he spends roaming free in our communities, he represents a potential threat to the children of our communities. The men and women of ICE Boston will always prioritize public safety by protecting the residents of New England from egregious noncitizen offenders."

#3  Defending against an ICBM attack is all well and good but is anyone in the US defense industry working on stopping drone swarms? Based on current events, I kinda sorta think that might be important for the next war.

At least 58 killed by 2 weeks of floods in Tanzania
[AFRICANEWS] Floods have killed 58 people in Tanzania during the last two weeks, the government said, as heavy rains continue in the East African country.

The coastal region was hit hardest, with 126,831 people affected, according to the government.

Government spokesperson Mobhare Matinyi said on Sunday that essential supplies including food had been distributed to those affected.

Tanzania plans to construct 14 dams to prevent flooding in future, he added.

East Africa is experiencing heavy rains, with reported flooding in neighboring Kenya killing at least 13 people so far.

Infrastructure has also been damaged and those living in flood-prone areas are being urged to move.

The rains are expected to reach their peak towards the end of this month.
And then...drought
