Rod Rosenstein defends Barr's 'integrity' ahead of Mueller report release
[Washington Examiner] Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said "the rule of law is secure" with a Justice Department led by Attorney General William Barr.

Rosenstein's brief profile of Barr appeared in Time's 2019 list of 100 most influential people, published online just one day before Barr's redacted release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report is expected to spur a fierce partisan battle over transparency.

"The enthusiasm in and around the Department of Justice was palpable when President Trump announced his nomination of Attorney General William Pelham Barr," Rosenstein wrote. "A brilliant and principled conservative lawyer, Barr brings unique experience to the challenge of working at the intersection of law and politics."

#1  I saw the press statement that Barr did and was very impressed with his professionalism and his ability to discuss the actual procedures and legal limits he had.

He also stressed that the President had the ability to keep large portions of the report from the public due to executive privilege, but Trump didn't use it and allowed all of the report to be published. The left will ignore that little bit and still try to claim that Barr is covering up for the President.

Texas Research Scientist Says Brisket Might be Good for You
[Texas Hill Country] If it was perfected in Texas, you can bet someone from this state is proving it’s good for you. Such is the case for brisket and ground beef! Researchers out of Texas A&M have found that not only does it make for some of the tastiest food you’ll ever try, but (believe it or not) it comes with some health benefits too.
Fredericksburg, TX 'Sunday House' with Weber.
Their findings confirmed that high levels of oleic acid can be had in beef brisket. You want this because it lowers LDLs (the "bad" kind of cholesterol,) and produces high levels of HDLs (the good kind, which are said to promote better heart health). Dr. Stephen Smith, a research scientist from Texas A&M AgriLife Research, explained the findings. "Brisket has higher oleic acid than the flank or plate, which are the trims typically used to produce ground beef," he said. "The fat in brisket also has a low melting point, that’s why the brisket is so juicy." Researchers in this study have also found that the same applies to ground beef, but to a lesser degree.

Afghanistan
After 18 Years, It Is Past Time To Face The Truth About Afghanistan
[The Federalist] Last week, three U.S. service members were killed in an improvised explosive device attack near Bagram Air Base, an operation subsequently claimed by the Taliban. The deaths of Christopher Slutman of Newark, Delaware, Robert A. Hendriks of Locust Valley, New York, and Benjamin S. Hines of York, Pennsylvania take the number of U.S. troop fatalities in Afghanistan this year to seven.

It’s the latest grim reminder of a war that has proceeded on an almost autopilot for more than a decade and a half. Hitting its 17th anniversary last October, the conflict has gone on for such a long time that new recruits are being reminded by their drill sergeants about why the United States is involved.

The American people are justifiably exhausted by the Afghanistan conflict, which continues every year with little light at the end of the tunnel. U.S. policy has been defined throughout by muddled thinking, hubris about what the United States can achieve, and an endless stream of troop deployments in support of a strategy that holds little if any chance at success.

The amount of resources and attention Washington has allocated in pursuit of the unattainable‐a fully democratic Afghanistan free of corruption and patrimony, governed by the rule of law rather than the rule of the gun‐would be the stuff of comedies if it weren’t for the price tag attached to the effort: 2,242 U.S. troop fatalities, tens of thousands of additional injuries (many life-altering), and nearly $1 trillion in American treasure.

U.S. officials owe the soldiers and diplomats in the field and the American people at home a realistic appraisal of what Washington can accomplish in a country that has been in the throes of armed conflict for four decades. If we hope to finally reach the day American troops can pack up their belongings and come back to their families, Washington must start viewing the war with clear eyes. Several hard truths about Afghanistan are in order.

#3  Turning the place into glass would have communicated a message 17 years has failed to do. This is what happens when you don't really go to war. People seem to skip over we bombed the **** out of Germany and Japan first before we decided to play nation building. They knew they were defeated.

#4  17 years of attempts told Islam we were low towing and weak.

This is another good lesson to come out of the war. You must have a serious end game and a non-Muslim state cannot influence a Muslim population these days, we can’t/won’t do what is necessary so anything we try will end up as a propoganda victory for enemies.

We should have:
• Supported Northern alliance and left them in charge. Then helped them as we deemed necessary but kept our fighting troops free as a threat to others.
• Done a full-force attempt to support non-wasabi mosques.
• Put massive pressure on Saudis to clamp down on rogue princes and other support to our enemies
• Pushed for nuke power to replace oil as soon as was possible (fracking worked but took way to long).
• IF we went into Iraq we should have handed the place over to Jordan and supported them but not gotten involved in internal politics.

That would have been a start at least.

North Korea calls for Pompeo to be dropped from talks; tests tactical weapon
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea said on Thursday it no longer wanted to deal with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and said he should be replaced in talks by someone more mature, hours after it announced its first weapons test since nuclear talks broke down.

The North’s official KCNA news agency quoted senior foreign ministry official Kwon Jong Gun as warning that no one could predict the situation on the Korean peninsula if the United States did not abandon the "root cause" that compelled North Korea to develop nuclear weapons.

The statement came shortly after North Korea announced that leader Kim Jong Un had overseen the testing of a new tactical guided weapon, which KCNA said has a "peculiar mode of guiding flight" and "a powerful warhead".

It was the North’s first weapon test since talks in Vietnam between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump in late February broke down over conflicting demands by North Korea for sanctions relief and by the United States for North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.

My Simple, Effective Comprehensive Illegal Immigration Reform Plan: Go Home
[Townhall] Get out, illegals. Go home. Or don’t go home ‐ I don’t care where you go. You just can’t stay here in America.

This is my elegant, uncomplicated comprehensive immigration reform plan. If we did not invite you in ‐ if you didn’t have the basic courtesy and respect for this country to ask to come here, then get out. And don’t come back ‐ if you snuck into America, you don’t get to come back.

It’s simple and fair. The fair part is important, because it’s about time that our immigration laws be fair to the only people who should matter when we make our policies ‐ American citizens.

Yes, the goal of our immigration system should be one thing ‐ to benefit American citizens. It may scandalize the elite to prioritize our own people, but that’s okay ‐ in fact, I hope they run in 2020 on a platform of putting foreigners first.

In the meantime, the Big Bamboozle is coming back around again. It shows up every few years with a new name, but it’s always the same thing ‐ a bogus promise to halt the illegal invasion facilitated by Democrats seeking replacement voters for you disobedient Normals and by Chamber of Commerce-types shilling for the big corporations that want an endless supply of pliable, obedient, and cheap labor.

It’s amnesty, and amnesty by any other name still stinks.

With more of the theoretical border getting erased by the day as tens of thousands of foreigners heed the call of the Democrats to march north (or overstay their visas), the Fredocons are sensing yet another opportunity to jam down their open borders agenda on an unwilling GOP base. They are already talking about trying to trick the Trump into signing on.

NYPD Arrested A Man With Gas Cans Walking Into St. Patrick's Cathedral
[NBC] A man carrying two gas cans, lighter fluid and lighters tried to enter St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City on Wednesday but was stopped by a security officer and taken into custody, an NYPD official said.

"Nothing happened inside the cathedral," the Archdiocese of New York said in a statement.

There was no fire, but there were people inside and the building was open at the time of the incident. Three senior law enforcement officials said the man may be emotionally disturbed.

The archdiocese said that "the individual was stopped as he tried to come into the cathedral," and he was turned over to police.

The incident comes days after the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris burned in what officials in France say they think could be an accident, and renovation work was being done at the time it broke out. Police said that the NYPD maintains a robust security presence at the Cathedral at all times, but that the department had added to that in recent days.

Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the man taken into custody is Marc Lamparello, 37, of New Jersey. Lamparello is listed as a doctoral candidate and adjunct lecturer in City University of New York's philosophy department.

Heavy.com has very interesting Five Fast Facts on the gentleman, who was educated in Catholic schools. Also, he is known to police for public drunkenness and criminal trespass.

Facebook says it uploaded email contacts of up to 1.5 million users
(Reuters) - Facebook Inc said on Wednesday it may have "unintentionally uploaded" email contacts of 1.5 million new users since May 2016, in what seems to be the latest privacy-related issue faced by the social media company.
Since May 2016 was it? Nothing to do with the Presidential Election or spying on Trump campaign personnel I am sure. Something in the forthcoming Mueller report ?
In March, Facebook had stopped offering email password verification as an option for people who signed up for the first time, the company said. There were cases in which email contacts of people were uploaded to Facebook when they created their account, the company said.

"We estimate that up to 1.5 million people’s email contacts may have been uploaded. These contacts were not shared with anyone and we are deleting them," Facebook told Reuters, adding that users whose contacts were imported will be notified.

The underlying glitch has been fixed, according to the company statement.

Business Insider had earlier reported that the social media company harvested email contacts of the users without their knowledge or consent when they opened their accounts.

When an email password was entered, a message popped up saying it was "importing" contacts without asking for permission first, the report said.

Facebook has been hit by a number of privacy-related issues recently, including a glitch that exposed passwords of millions of users stored in readable format within its internal systems to its employees.

Last year, the company came under fire following revelations that Cambridge Analytica, a British political consulting firm, obtained personal data of millions of people’s Facebook profiles without their consent.

‘Keep your mouth shut': Dems erupt over Barr's Mueller report rollout
[Politico] House Democrats exploded in anger Wednesday over Attorney General William Barr’s plans to roll out special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, accusing the Justice Department of trying to spin the report’s contents and protect President Donald Trump.

Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will hold a news conference at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning to review the report, which will include redactions. Reports that DOJ officials have already discussed Mueller’s findings with the White House only further inflamed tensions.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Barr had "thrown out his credibility & the DOJ’s independence with his single-minded effort to protect @realDonaldTrump above all else."

"The American people deserve the truth, not a sanitized version of the Mueller Report approved by the Trump Admin," Pelosi wrote on Twitter while on an official trip in Ireland.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee hastily convened a news conference for Wednesday night in Chairman Jerry Nadler’s district in New York City to issue similar broadsides against Barr.

"I’m deeply troubled by reports that the WH is being briefed on the Mueller report AHEAD of its release," Nadler tweeted before the press conference. The New York Democrat added that DOJ informed him that Congress would not receive the report until around 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. Thursday. "This is wrong," Nadler added.
"HEY! We control the narrative here! Don't confuse us with facts!"

Feds: 1 in 4 Inmates Are Foreign-Born, Costing U.S. Taxpayers $1.4B Annually
[Breitbart] About one in four federal inmates are either an illegal alien, legal immigrant, or suspected foreign-born criminal, a new federal report concludes.

In total, there were nearly 240,000 inmates in the federal prison system as of 2018, a Department of Justice (DOJ) report finds. Of that total, nearly 60,000 of those prisoners were illegal aliens and legal immigrants who have been ordered to be deported, were in proceedings to be deported, or were currently under investigation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to confirm their foreign-born status.

This dictates that about one in four ‐ or about 25 percent ‐ federal inmates are born outside the U.S. and came to the country either illegally or legally.

In Bureau of Prisons (BOP) custody, alone, foreign-born prisoners account for more than 20 percent of the total federal prison population. This confirms that about one in five federal inmates in BOP custody are foreign-born. There were nearly 40,000 foreign-born inmates in BOP custody as of 2018.

Similarly, about 38 percent of inmates in U.S. Marshals Serice (USMS) custody are foreign-born, including more than 21,000 either illegal aliens or legal immigrants out of the more than 56,000 inmates in custody as of 2018. The data concludes that more than three in eight inmates in USMS custody are foreign-born, and 70 percent have already been ordered to be deported.

Most recent cost estimates find that the foreign-born federal prison population costs American taxpayers about $1.42 billion every year, according to a 2018 report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

George Papadopoulos: The Russia Probe Started With the Spies Who Marked Me
[WSJ] ’I think spying did occur," Attorney General William P. Barr told a Senate subcommittee last Wednesday. He was speaking about the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s probe into possible coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign, as well as the resulting special-counsel investigation.

I can tell Mr. Barr what I know from experience. There’s nothing to "think" about: The spying happened, and it happened to me. The real question is why it happened. What drove U.S. intelligence organizations during the Obama administration to use unvetted information and inconclusive spy operations against the Republican nominee and his staff?

During my time as an adviser to the Trump campaign, federal intelligence and law-enforcement organizations used operatives to contact me in person and by email on multiple occasions. Their goal? To discuss rumored coordination efforts with Russia and extract evidence of a collusion crime.

"Operatives" is a euphemistic term for these men. Spies is a more fitting label. One is Stefan Halper, a professor at the University of Cambridge who runs intelligence seminars and has ties to the Central Intelligence Agency. The Washington Post named him as the FBI informant who approached at least three members of the Trump campaign. Then there’s Alexander Downer, who had the lofty title of Australian high commissioner to the U.K. and was an adviser to the British private intelligence firm Hakluyt & Co. Finally there’s Joseph Mifsud, who taught at Rome’s Link Campus University, where many faculty members have ties to intelligence agencies.

These men spied on me. As spies, they hid behind the cloak of their public personas while trying to ferret out information about the campaign and Moscow, and prod me into corroborating their bad intelligence. Major newspapers have confirmed that Mr. Halper reported to the FBI and Mr. Downer reported to Australian intelligence. Mr. Mifsud’s handlers remain unidentified.

I have spent two years thinking about my bizarre interactions with these spooks. If Mr. Barr really wants to understand what happened, he needs to examine them and their motives. If he does, he will likely find three men and their government backers acting in concert to inflict damage on a U.S. presidential candidate whose views apparently scared the hell out of them.

What might have motivated these spying efforts? On the British side, Mr. Trump was a vocal proponent of Brexit, which was opposed by most of the British political establishment. Similarly, Mr. Trump had spoken out against the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement that Australian politicians support.

In the U.S., Obama appointees James Comey at the FBI and John Brennan at the CIA were deeply rattled by Mr. Trump’s rhetoric about restoring relations with Russia. They were also hoodwinked by poorly sourced, unvetted reports from overseas, including the Steele dossier. Their agencies stitched together the reports to create the collusion narrative and open the investigation.

Mr. Barr may not be able to find a smoking gun that definitively proves Obama loyalists plotted to use specious allegations to wound a Republican candidate for president. But he won’t have to look very hard to confirm the existence of spy operations. Subpoenas for the spies who approached me would go a long way.

Mr. Barr could also investigate whether those operations crossed the bold line that separates a serious, apolitical investigation from paranoid prosecutorial overreach. The intelligence agencies and the spies they employed devised a conspiracy to create the appearance of a conspiracy.

I look forward to the attorney general’s findings.

Italy arrests 2 terror suspects training for combat in Syria
[AlAhram] Italian news agency ANSA says authorities have tossed in the slammer
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!

in Syria.

Sicilian prosecutors who ordered the arrests Wednesday said Sherlocks had identified the Italian suspect, 25-year-old Giuseppe Frittatta, from social media posts. They included holy warrior propaganda as well as photos of himself holding a knife with a 26-centimeter (10-inch) blade calling for deaths to `'all westerners.''

The 18-year-old Moroccan, Ossama Gafhir, is alleged to have induced Frittatta toward extremism, and was following stringent fitness routine to prepare for combat.

Frittata _ a Sicilian who changed his name to Yusef _ allegedly was in contact with turbans in Italia and abroad. The arrests were carried out in northern Italia.
An Nahar has Mr. Frittatta’s age as 24 and adds:
The pair were "ready to attack", according to media reports citing prosecutors, , which said they had been plotting an attack on Italian soil after their plans to travel to Syria to fight were thwarted by the defeat of IS.

The suspects had downloaded video instructions on how to carry out bombings and suicide kabooms, police said.

Scientists Restore Some Function In The Brains Of Dead Pigs
[NPR.ORG] The brains of dead pigs have been somewhat revived by scientists hours after the animals were killed in a slaughterhouse.
We seen dis movie!
The Yale University research team is careful to say that none of the brains regained the kind of organized electrical activity associated with consciousness or awareness. Still, the experiment described Wednesday in the journal Nature showed that a surprising amount of cellular function was either preserved or restored.

The implications of this study have staggered ethicists, as they contemplate how this research should move forward and how it fits into the current understanding of what separates the living from the dead.

"It was mind-blowing," says Nita Farahany, who studies the ethics of emerging technologies at Duke Law School. "My initial reaction was pretty shocked. It's a groundbreaking discovery, but it also really fundamentally changes a lot of what the existing beliefs are in neuroscience about the irreversible loss of brain function once there is deprivation of oxygen to the brain."

The brain is extremely sensitive to a lack of oxygen and shuts down quickly. But researchers have long known that viable cells can be removed from post-mortem brains hours after death, says Nenad Sestan, a neuroscientist at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.

Such cells can be studied in a lab dish, Sestan says, "but the problem is, once you do that, you are losing the 3D organization of the brain."

He and some colleagues wondered whether it might be possible to study brain cells while leaving them in an intact organ. Doing so meant somehow supplying them with oxygen, nutrients and various other cell-protective chemicals.

The scientists have spent the past six years developing a technique to do that, testing their methods on around 300 pig heads they obtained from a local pork processing center.
Scanning for Democratic voters now within reach.
"This really was a shot-in-the-dark project," says team member Stefano Daniele. "We had no preconceived notion of whether or not this could work."

After deciding on the final version of their technology, which they call BrainEx, they did a detailed study using 32 pig heads. Daniele says that while at the slaughterhouse, he and fellow researcher Zvonimir Vrselja flushed the brains to clear out residual blood and to cool down the tissue.

Back at the lab, they removed the brains from the pigs' heads and placed the isolated brains in an experimental chamber. The researchers hooked key blood vessels up to a device that pumped in a specially formulated chemical cocktail for six hours, starting about four hours after the pigs had been killed.

These brains ended up looking dramatically different from pig brains that were left alone to deteriorate. "We found that tissue and cellular structure is preserved and cell death is reduced. In addition, some molecular and cellular functions were restored," Sestan says. "This is not a living brain, but it is a cellularly active brain."

The researchers' approach offers a new way to study brain diseases or injuries in the lab and to explore the basic biology of the brain. "We could actually answer questions that we can't now," Vrselja says.

"This is a real breakthrough for brain research. It's a new tool that bridges the gap between basic neuroscience and clinical research," agrees Andrea Beckel-Mitchener of the National Institute of Mental Health who works with the BRAIN Initiative. The BRAIN Initiative, which started in 2013 to accelerate neuroscience research, provided funding for the work.

Sudan's Bashir Transferred to Prison
[AnNahar] Ousted Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
has been transferred to a Khartoum prison following his toppling by the army last week, a source from his family told AFP on Wednesday.

"Last night, Bashir was transferred to Kober prison in Khartoum," the source said without revealing his name for security reasons.

Bashir was ousted by the army last Thursday after four months of protests against his three decades of iron-fisted rule. The country's new military rulers had said he was being held "in a secure place".

Witnesses said there was a heavy deployment of soldiers and members of the paramilitary Rapid Support Force outside the prison in north Khartoum.

"There are troops in vehicles mounted with machine-guns near the prison," a witness told AFP.

Sex Trafficking On The Darknet Being Used To Finance Terrorism - Report
[Jpost] Illegal trafficking of women on the darknet is likely being used as a new method of financing terrorism, says a report by IDC Herzliya’s International Institute of Counter-Terrorism exclusively obtained by The Jerusalem Post.

Written by Nadine Liv, the ICT report said that "gangs use human trafficking as part of" their "strategy to control the local population, but it also has an economic dimension.... The revenue... from trafficking activities likely helps finance the organization’s activities."

According to the report, studies of human trafficking, currently a $150.2 billion per year industry, until now have not examined the phenomenon "from the angle of terrorism financing."

Germany commits to invest AFN 5.1 billion in Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has committed to invest about AFN 5.1 billion (EUR 59 million), focussing on good governance, sustainable economic development as well as urban development and municipal infrastructure.

According to a statement released by German Cooperation with Afghanistan, an additional AFN 8.7 billion (EUR 100 million) shall be allocated to the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF). Since 2001, the German government has invested about AFN 345 billion (EUR 4.06 billion) in Afghanistan.

Strategy Page points out that Afghanistan’s GDP has grown four-fold since we drove out the Taliban in 2001, mostly due to foreign aid, followed by Taliban-controlled drug profits.

Arrest of Shiite cleric pits ex-head of Iraq Hezbollah against interior ministry
Oh dear — how very dreadful.
[Rudaw] The Iraqi Ministry of Interior will take legal action against the former leader of Iraq Hezbollah after he publicly threatened to kill an interior ministry officer for arresting a Shiite holy man entering Basra from Iran.

In a video that began circulating online on Sunday, an officer in the Department of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances branch in Basra is seen searching the Shiite holy man, who is believed to be Iranian, asking what he has brought into Iraq, while others film the scene.

In the video, the officer finds 10 Kuwaiti dinars ($33) and then claims that the currency is used to buy drugs, mainly "red mercury," an apparent reference to Mercurous chloride (mercury salts). The officer then asks the holy man to remove his turban because he should only be wearing it as a sign of respect to the Prophet Mohammed.

Star Wars redux as US tries to 'Engineer a Race Where There's None'
[SpaceDaily] NASA's Moon-landing plans, as they were depicted by the agency, consist in developing a blueprint on how to get astronauts to the lunar surface in the next five years, but the announcement has caused a stir worldwide, given Trump's prior directive to build up a special Space Force within the Department of the Air Force.

In an interview after a speech he delivered at a workshop on potential astrophysics missions on 1 April, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine made an eye-popping announcement that he hopes to develop an initial plan within the next couple of weeks for sending a manned vehicle to the surface of the Moon by 2024, four years ahead of schedule.

The announcement came on the heels of Vice President Mike Pence announcing the new goal of landing humans at the south pole of the moon by 2024 in his 26 March speech in Huntsville, noting that NASA already had such a plan. Bridenstine said that the initiative Pence mentioned referred to the earlier goal of humans on the moon by 2028, however, now they are working quickly to push it forward.

#4  Dr Gbenga Oduntan, an associate professor is showing his associate status and looking at it from the wrong point of view.

It's like this idiot. Governments, the US and others, are scared shit-less of losing control of space to totally private companies and individuals so the US government is attempting to beat them back to the Moon and Mars. Not beat China or losers like the EU or Africa or something.

Musk is going to test his Starship manned to the moon on his own penny or if somebody pays him their penny. Likely Blue Origin and others have similar plans. Musk's landing date for the moon (Manned and unmanned) is definitely in the 2023 maximum drop dead time frame. Why? Well his manned mission to Mars leave in 2024 (unmanned 2022) and the DearMoon mission he's sold to the Japanese billionaire is 2023 and he really needs test missions before paying ones to tourists.

You and Putin's propagandists obviously don't have the the brain power to see this change happening with governments trailing not leading. Note Pence's date of a 2024 return to the Moon by NASA. Compare that to Musk's dates. NASA hasn't met any damn delivery dates lately. Musk has been slower than he wants but tends to make dates within a year or so. Musk's Mars dates are determined by alignment of planets so they are drop dead dates he PLANS ON MAKING.

See that starship being tested and built and tested and refined in the Rio Grande delta? Musk is going! He doesn't give a flying F... about any politician's or nation's timelines! He has his. He has Tesla for space capable land transport. He has Tesla for Space, Moon and Mars solar power. He has his tunneling company to tunnel the Moon and Mars for habitats protected from radiation. He has mining plans starting with the first missions. He is starting to put up a massive space based communication system that will also be deployed around the Moon, Mars, then the Solar System. He and others like him are grabbing space. Nations are not.

#6  3dc, I agree completely. Musk and Bezos are going to be in charge in space, not NASA or any government. The companies that settle space and the governors and colonists they place so far from the reach of the rest of humanity will not obey random and stupid bureaucratic demands any more than American settlers did in the 17th and 18th centuries. Perhaps far less even. This is a major turning point in human history, one that will destroy, at long last, the delusions of grandeur that the international community and the global idle class has accumulated over the past century.

US sanctions on Venezuelan bank aimed at Maduro
[APNEWS] The U.S. says it’s imposing sanctions on the Central Bank of Venezuela. The Trump administration says the bank has been instrumental in propping up the government of Venezuela’s president, Nicolas Maduro

’s national security adviser John Bolton says the move is aimed at restricting U.S. transactions with the bank and cutting off the bank’s access to U.S. currency.

Bolton says the action is meant to be a warning to others, including Russia, against deploying military assets to Venezuela to help Maduro stay in power.

The Kremlin has rejected U.S. calls for Moscow to withdraw its military specialists from Venezuela. Russia says they are there to honor obligations under previous arms contracts. Bolton says Russia has conducted several military flights to Venezuela carrying 35 tons of unknown cargo and 100 military personnel.

Ex Peruvian president dies after shooting himself in the head moments before arrest
[RT] Former Peruvian President Alan Garcia has died after shooting himself in the head as police arrived at his home to arrest him. The ex-president was rushed to hospital, but doctors could not save him.

As coppers knocked on his door on Wednesday morning, Garcia shut himself in his room and shot himself in the head. The former leader was rushed to hospital, reportedly suffered multiple cardiac arrests during surgery, and died several hours later.

Peruvian president Martin Vizcarra confirmed Garcia's passing, sending his condolences to the late leader's family and loved ones.

Global corruption scandal

[CNN] Garcia was accused of receiving kickbacks from one of Latin America's largest construction firms -- the Brazil-based company Odebrecht -- during the building of an electric train for the Lima metro while he was president during his second term. He has denied the claims.

In his most recent tweet, posted on Tuesday, Garcia said there was "no shred of evidence" against him, accused Peruvian prosecutors of "SPECULATION," and said he had "never sold out and that is proven."

Suspect Allegedly Undresses in 12-Year-Old’s Bedroom, Gets Shot Six Times
[BREITBART] A suspect who allegedly broke into a 12-year-old’s bedroom in Louisville, Kentucky, was confronted by the homeowner then shot six times.

WDRB reports the 12-year-old got under her blankets and texted her mother to let her know the suspect was allegedly in her room.

Her mother, Tina Burton, said, "She hid under the cover, turned her light down, turned her volume down on her phone to text me. When she peeked under the cover to see where he was at, she got up and bravely ran away. She went to the back room. And I think that was really brave and smart of her.

The suspect allegedly walked to the kitchen in his underwear, where he was confronted by Burton’s boyfriend, Ali Bracey. There was a physical altercation with Burton finally retrieving a gun and handing it to Bracey, who shot the suspect repeatedly.

German Energy company realizes spending on Green Energy in Germany is stupid so pours billions into US green energy
[CWN] German utility RWE expects to spend heavily in the U.S. green energy market as it maps out its future as a global renewables champion after its pending asset swap with peer E.ON.

“We expect to spend several billions of euros on the expansion of the U.S. renewables business in the next few years,” chief financial officer Markus Krebber told Reuters in an interview.

RWE is trying to shed its image as coal-heavy, closing many of its German plants in return for compensation that is yet to be negotiated, and has demonstrated the bulk of its future profits will come from renewables.

Krebber said its global spending would focus on onshore wind and photovoltaics (PV) in the United States and Europe, where offshore wind spending would be significant too, with PV also highly relevant in Australia.

By taking over the renewable energy assets of subsidiary Innogy and of E.ON within the sector carve-up, RWE will develop into Europe’s third-biggest renewables company and the world’s number five, with installed capacity of 10 gigawatts.

Globally, “we will invest more than 1.5 billion euros (per year), and this could be as much as 2.5 billion euros with partners’ money”, Krebber said.

RWE on Wednesday increased its credit line with a consortium of 27 international banks to 5 billion euros ($5.7 billion) in order to fund the renewables business integration.

In the United States, it will inherit a 3 GW renewables portfolio from its two German peers and seek to expand that to 8 GW.

The main emphasis would be on onshore wind between the Great Lakes and down to the Gulf of Mexico, Krebber said.

RWE would develop and construct the assets itself, not invest in existing ones.

Investment conditions in U.S. renewables are attractive because prices for plants have come down, while remuneration for production will be lucrative even after federal tax credits expire.

N. Korean leader visits military unit for first time in 5 months
[EN.YNA.CO.KR] North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
has made a surprise visit to an air force unit and reviewed a flight exercise, the official news agency reported Wednesday, in his first public inspection of military activities in five months.

During the visit to the Unit 1017 of the Air and Anti-aircraft Force of the Korean People's Army on Tuesday, Kim ordered pilots to "take off and perform difficult and complicated air combat actions," the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.

"Noting that while passing by the unit he abruptly dropped in at the unit in order to learn about the flight drill of a pursuit assault plane group, Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un said it is important to make a sudden inspection of the regular readiness of unit as a fight of the air and anti-aircraft field is waged without previous notice," KCNA said.

Kim also expressed "great satisfaction over the excellent readiness to carry out any combat task irrespective of conditions and environment," the report said.

The visit was Kim's first reported military activity after he supervised a "newly developed ultramodern tactical weapon test" in November.

Announces a new "tactical guided weapon" yesterday, openly takes a swipe at Mike Pompeo (meh) and publicly pops up at an air force unit to review "a flight exercise" (3 currency crash and dashes?) today. A lot of activity over 48-hours and low-key...kind of subdued...compared to the usual fire and brimstone outcrys.

I believe Kim wants to talk. But from a position of perceived strength. Who would expect anything else?

My tin foil hat says the Hanoi talks collapsed because Kim did not know if Mr. Trump would survive Mr. Cohen's ugly testimony of 28 Feb. (What I consider to be the critical drama of the "investigation"); and recently acquired an inkling that the Mueller Report was going to fizzle, albeit loudly.

And thence deduced that Mr. Trump was again a force to deal with.

China Threatens to Turn Taiwan Into Another Lebanon
[NATIONALINTEREST.ORG] Beijing has a warning for Taiwan: toe the line or we’ll do to you what Israel has done to Leb‐bomb you to pieces.

That warning came after U.S. national security adviser John Bolton complained that Chinese J-11 fighters crossed the middle line of the Taiwan Strait, which somewhat unofficially demarcates control of the waters between China and Taiwan. It marked the first time in almost twenty years that Chinese aircraft have done this, with Taiwanese fighters scrambling to intercept them.

China’s pro-government Global Times newspaper predictably denounced the U.S. denunciation, taking aim at several occasions over the last year‐and most recently in March‐when U.S. warships passed through the Taiwan Straits to dispute China’s assertion that it has illusory sovereignty over the waterway (and Taiwan island, too).

"Washington is choosing the wrong place, time and opponent to flex its muscle in Taiwan Straits," warned Global Times. If the U.S. military stations forces in Taiwan, China will attack, the article said. If the U.S. sells advanced fighters like the F-16V to Taiwan, the People’s Liberation Army will respond.

What’s interesting are what those responses might be. "The PLA has many choices, including crossing the ’middle line,’ flying over the Taiwan island and even turn Taiwan into a Leb-like situation," the newspaper said. "These choices don't necessarily lead to war. They are enough to force Taiwan authorities to readjust their radical policies."

But what exactly does "turn Taiwan into a Leb-like situation" mean? The name "Leb" has become a byword for a couple of highly unpleasant fates for a nation. One is vicious civil war, when a country disintegrates into a homicidal mosaic of feuding ethnic, religious and political factions. The Lebanese Civil War raged from 1975 to 1990 and killed 150,000 people.

But it’s unlikely that China could punish Taiwan by fomenting civil war (Leb was a tinderbox waiting to explode). It’s more likely that Global Times meant the other meaning of "Leb," which is a state that is constantly pummeled by its more powerful neighbor.

Beginning in the 1960s, Israeli jets and commandos entered Leb to target Paleostinian bad boy groups. In 1978 and 1982, Israel launched ground invasions and occupied southern Leb for twenty years. Now it is the turn of Syria, which has been hammered for the last couple of years by hundreds of Israeli air strikes on Iranian forces in the country.

Is the suggestion that Chinese aircraft and missiles will do the same by hitting Taiwan at will, if Beijing is displeased by Taiwanese actions such as hosting U.S. forces or buying new fighter aircraft? "China could punish perceived Taiwanese misbehavior at will (presumably with air and missile strikes) as Israel has done in the past with targets in Leb," RAND Corp. analyst Andrew Scobell told the National Interest.

"What Global Times meant is that the Chinese PLA has overwhelming advantages against Taiwan's armed forces that a fight between the two would resemble a fight between the Israel Defense Forces and Hezbollah in Leb," said Adam Ni, an expert on the Chinese military. "The assumption is that the PLA would bring Taiwan to its knees, through air and missile strikes, airborne operations, amphibious invasion, cyberattacks, and blockades."

But if that’s the assumption, then Chinese hardliners are missing the point of "Lebization."

The Israelis could hit Lebanese territory for decades because the Lebanese state was too weak to do anything more than protest. With rise of the Iranian-armed Lebanese group Hezbollah and its arsenal of rockets aimed at Israel, those raids have mostly stopped (though Israeli aircraft still overfly Leb). Syria today can’t do much more than fire some anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli planes, because the Syrian military is too weak to engage in a war with Israel.

Taiwan’s military is vastly overmatched by its neighbor China. Yet for a smaller island nation, Taiwan packs a fairly respectable military punch. More important, it’s backed by the United States, which has poured much prestige into Taiwan’s security.

China certainly has the capability to use force against Taiwan. But unlike Leb and Syria, Taiwan and the United States can hit back.

Terrorist Presence On Migrants Boats From Libya Now A Certainty: Italian minister
[Jpost] Chaos in Libya following General Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's offensive has increased the risk of terrorist presence on migrant boats headed for Italia, Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said, adding the country's ports would remain closed.

"Islamic terrorist infiltration is no longer a risk, it has become a certainty: it is therefore my duty to reiterate that no docking will be allowed on Italian shores" he said in a radio interview on Wednesday.

Salvini, leader of the anti-immigrant League party, refused to say if Italia's stance could change in case of a full-fledged war in Libya after the flare-up in the cycle of anarchy gripping the country since dictator Muammar Qadaffy

Vigilante ‘death squads’ using Facebook & Twitter to hunt gang suspects in Kenya
[RT] Reports have emerged of Kenyan vigilante groups using Facebook and Twitter to hunt down and summarily execute young men suspected of being gang members, before posting gruesome content of the aftermath online.

"They profile them on Facebook, after one week or a month they shoot them, and put pictures of their dead bodies on Facebook," Wilfred Olal from the Dandora Community Justice Centre told a community meeting. An average of six suspected gangsters are profiled and killed each month.

The disturbing photos and videos are incredibly graphic, showing close-ups of heads cleaved open by bullets, desecrated corpses, and the aftermath of ’necklacing’ ‐ a gruesome practice in which a rubber tire filled with petrol is wrapped around a live victim’s chest and arms before being set on fire.

"The first unofficial police Facebook account appeared under the name Hessy wa Kayole [Hessy from Kayole]," Duncan Omanga, a researcher at Moi University in Kenya said, adding: "Hessy became the shadowy crime-hunter, the mystical lone ranger."

One group boasts almost 63,000 members and has a motto which reads: "Forgiving a terrorist is left to God, but fixing their appointment with God is our responsibility." Group members often try to one-up each other while commenting and laughing about the extreme violence shared on the page.

In one post, a gang member shared a photo of himself posing with others from the gang while brandishing an AK47 semi-automatic rifle, before later deleting it. The image had already been shared across social media, and each person pictured was summarily executed one by one. The group photo then reappeared online several times, each time with one more face struck off.

New Orleans Visits Cuba to Learn about ‘Economic Development’ and ‘Quality of Life’
[FRONTPAGEMAG] Move over AOC! Just when you thought AOC (or her scriptwriter) was unbeatable. Just when you thought blather from public servants could not possibly become more daft. Just when you thought AOC’s throne atop the pinnacle was unreachable and her crown secure‐New Orleans’ Democrat mayor LaToya Cantrell (or her scriptwriter) lunges for the royal scepter.

You see, amigos: The Democrat mayor and a retinue of associated New Orleans city officials spent all of last week in Havana, Cuba to, in the mayors office’s own words:

"see firsthand how (Cuba’s) history has produced unique opportunities and challenges in the areas of economic development, trade, health care, education and other quality of life issues."

I realize this sounds like shameless AOC idiocy one-upsmanship. I realize that learning about "quality of life" from a place that saw multiple times as many desperate people die trying to escape it, as died trying to escape over the Berlin Wall, sounds like shameless click-bait, or even a Saturday Night Live or Monty Python skit. So here’s the proof.

In a way, however, the visit seems appropriate. After all, the rulers of one place drove out practically all productive residents with punitive socialist policies that converted a once charming and prosperous place into a huge slum except for a few tourism enclaves. The other place is named Cuba.

From Stalinist Cuba Democrat Cantrell dutifully performed all the traditional Democrat rituals mandatory for such visits, primarily hailing Cuba’s glorious "healthcare and education!"

"Mayor of New Orleans highlights Cuban achievements," crowed the totalitarian regime’s KGB-founded media:

"According to the Ms Cantrell, the level of the literacy in Cuba is very high, and when she compares this indicator with New Orleans, it is perceptible that there is much to learn from Cuba. She said the same thing happens when analyzing the primary health system, and stated that the U.S. city can take experiences in order to perfect their mother-child program."

Afghanistan
Peace talks in trouble as Taliban slam Afghan guest list
[DAWN] An upcoming conference between Afghan representatives and the Afghan Taliban
...Arabic for students...
appeared to be in trouble on Wednesday even before it begins, with the gunnies deriding Kabul's plan to send 250 delegates ‐ several of whom have already dropped out.

President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's administration had announced Tuesday a list of people from all walks of Afghan life, including some from the government, that it wants to send to the so-called intra-Afghan dialogue in Doha this weekend.

But the Taliban poured scorn on the lengthy list, saying it was not "normal" and that they had "no plans" to meet with so many people.

"The creators of (the) Kabul list must realise that this is an orderly and prearranged conference in a far-away Khaleeji (Gulf) country and not an invitation to some wedding or other party at a hotel in Kabul," Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement.

The Taliban ‐ who see Ghani as a US stooge and his government as a puppet regime ‐ also continue to insist they will not be negotiating with Kabul at the conference, and any administration officials are involved merely in a "personal capacity".

Further doubts were cast when some of those Ghani said would attend the conference announced they would not go.

Ghani's own running mate Amrullah Saleh, the former head of Afghan intelligence and a longtime Taliban critic, was among them.

The Taliban "should agree to direct and focused negotiations with the Afghan government", he tweeted.

Atta Mohammad Noor, a key opposition figure and former governor of Balkh province, had also been included on the list, which was meant as an inclusive representation of Afghan society.

But Noor slammed the delegation as politically biased toward Ghani.

"We won't be attending the talks with this running order," Noor tweeted on Wednesday, adding he viewed the list as Ghani's "intentional act to sabotage the peace efforts".

'PICK AND CHOOSE'
A senior Taliban commander based in Pakistain told AFP that the mammoth delegation showed the "Americans and their puppet Afghan government are not serious about the peaceful settlement of the issue".

Ghani met with the delegates on Wednesday, giving no indication of any trouble, saying: "We and the Afghan nation expect you to return home successfully and proudly from meeting with the Taliban in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
The US has been holding separate bilateral peace negotiations with the Taliban in Doha as part of a months-long peace push led by Washington.

The intra-Afghan dialogue comes as part of the effort, but the US is not believed to be attending.

Taliban expert Rahimullah Yusufzai told AFP that while the Afghan government needs to be inclusive in who it sends to Doha, "this is not realistic".

"I have seen in the list people who have no influence. You have to pick and choose, 250 is not manageable," Yusufzai said.

"The Afghan government is under pressure. With the elections coming, they don't want to make anyone angry. There are alliances to keep in mind," he added, referring to presidential elections set for September.

Yusufzai predicted the conference would be postponed, and that finding a new date might be tough before Ramadan begins next month.

[BENZINGA] Volocopter, the German autonomous air taxi company, is working with the Singapore authorities to introduce air taxis over the city state's skies, with pilot runs set to be underway this year. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) unveiled details at the Rotorcraft Asia trade show – test trials will be done in the southern part of Singapore and over water to ensure maximum safety during the run.

Tan Chun Wei, the deputy director of transformation programmes at CAAS, explained, "We are going to take off where we land. For the first phase, it's very much experimental. For a start, it is going to be over water, and we are going to work with Volocopter on the safety aspects to ensure that even flying over water, it wouldn't pose a public or even aviation risk. The landing spot will be somewhere in the southern part of Singapore."

Singapore has consistently been at the forefront of futuristic transportation, while enacting laws that make transportation within the country both fluid and incredibly organized. In a report last year by McKinsey, the city-state ranked number one among 24 major cities around the world in terms of seamless urban transportation systems. It led the other cities in the primary parameters of availability, affordability, efficiency, sustainability and convenience.

With a population of 5.6 million people and a density of over 20,000 people per square mile, Singapore has the compulsive need to innovate within its transportation corridor and has successfully pushed a system that has worked exceedingly well despite the traffic volume.

However, planning for steady population and economic growth, the country is now looking towards the skies as a transit possibility of the future. The Volocopter is an autonomous vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft that can be controlled either by a pilot on a joystick or can be remotely controlled from the ground. An essential part of the initial test runs would be to determine which mode would be more relevant to the country's transportation needs.

Though the Volocopter looks like a cross between a helicopter and a drone, the vehicle is essentially a drone because of its computers and mechanics. The initial runs will also help authorities determine if they could pursue different possibilities within the urban mobility niche – for instance, using Volocopters as drones to move freight.

The rise of e-commerce and the subsequent increase in consumer expectations on expedited delivery times has warranted the use of innovative last-mile solutions and warehouse automation, stretching supply chains taut. Potentially, drone delivery systems are the next phase of the last-mile delivery expansion; this system is already being used in mainstream e-commerce delivery across China.
It was my experience one could get rapidly by subway, bus, taxi, walking & car anywhere in Singapore. It's not a large place. It's not clear, other than status, why this is needed. Singapore would achieve more by upgrading its TV broadcast from low-res analog to 4K digital.
Status is a good enough reason for many silly and expensive things.

The Grand Turk
HDP mayor for Diyarbakir finally certified after cleared in investigation
[Rudaw] The pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party’s (HDP) candidate for Diyarbakir (Amed) mayor, who won the province in March 31 local election, was certified by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
’s electoral body on Wednesday following weeks of uncertainty.

"We regained municipalities through people’s efforts after about two-and-half years. Our people are the owners of this victory," the new mayor, Adnan Selcuk Mizrakli, said in a presser.

Mizrakli will also have a co-mayor, Hulya Alokmen Uynak, as his party shares top positions between men and women, regardless of who wins under the party’s gender-balance system.

Diyarbakir’s prosecutor had launched an investigation into both co-mayors on April 5 for allegedly supporting terrorism after they were seen at an event with the pro-Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) slogans.

"We were celebrating the election victory," Alokmen told Rudaw English at the time. "The event was organized by [HDP’s] provincial office in Diyarbakir. All the co-chairs who won in the election met there. [The prosecutor] wanted to launch an investigation into this event. We have been under pressure since the election began. All our steps were monitored."

Mizrakli shared a video on his Twitter account, showing him entering his new office for the first time, claiming that the trustee who had been in office since 2016 had spent public money to decorate the office.

"Look, look! What they have created with the people’s money ... We will expose all their waste of money," he said in the tweet.

The Ottoman Turkish Supreme Election Council (YSK) had declared that it would not certify those winners who had previously been removed from office during the State of Emergency since 2016.

The decision affected the HDP more than most other parties as most of its mayors and municipal councils’ members were previously removed due to alleged connections with the PKK ‐ connections which the HDP deny.

The party’s contentious winner in Mardin, Ahmed Turk, was also certified on April 15 and he shared the position with a co-mayor, Figen Altindag.

Five days earlier HDP’s mayor for Van, Bedia Ozgokce Ertan was the first mayor for a metropolis to be certified.

Israel Detained Over 1,600 Palestinian Prisoners In 2019 - PLO Report
The original is probably filed under a new tab in the famous red binder.
[Jpost] Israel has detained around 1,600 Paleostinians, including 230 children and 40 women, since the start of 2019, according to a report released this week by the Paleostine Liberation Organization’s Department of Public Diplomacy and Policy.

The report, issued to correspond with Prisoners’ Day, also showed that there are 500 Paleostinians held in administrative detention without trial or charge.

Similarly, the new PLO report showed that in 2018, Israel detained some 3,255 Paleostinian children between the ages of 12 and 17. Some 70% of them were threatened with violence, including rape, castration, home demolition, imprisonment for life and denial of food. More than 75% of child prisoners reported being blindfolded.

The IDF responded to the accusations by the PLO, saying that in recent years many minors, and at very young ages, have been involved in violent incidents, incitement and even terrorism.

"In such cases, there is no choice but to take steps, including interrogation, detention and prosecution, within the limits and in accordance with arrangements established by law," said the IDF spokesperson. "Cases against minors are handled in the juvenile military court, which examines the severity of the offense and the risk posed by the minor, taking into account his age and other special circumstances."

The spokesperson said that minors are entitled to an attorney or with any other form of defense that they choose and that hearings are held shortly after arrest and are conducted "efficiently and with due respect for the rights of the defendants."

Paleostinian prisoners have been a focus in Israeli media this year, both because of stabbing and attempting stabbing attacks by security prisoners against guards at Ketziot Prison in the Negev, and because this year the Israeli government implemented the "pay-to-slay" law. The latter allows the Israel to deduct and freeze the amount of money the Paleostinian Authority pays in salaries to imprisoned bully boyz and families of "deaders" from the tax money it collects for the PA. The law was passed in July 2018 and approved for implementation by Israel’s security cabinet this year. In 2019, the cabinet is withholding approximately $138 million.

According to the PLO report, most detainees are the sole financial providers for their families, which means Israel is required to provide for their dependents, but it does not.

Democrats Begin Refunding, Rejecting Donations From Ilhan Omar
[DAILYWIRE] Democrats in the House of Representatives have started to reject and refund campaign donations from Rep. Ilhan Omar
Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She is apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw...
(D-MN) over Omar's anti-Semitism scandal and her recent trivialization of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The Washington Free Beacon reported on Wednesday that the reelection campaign for Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA) left a $2,000 contribution from Omar off its quarterly fundraising report, and, when pressed by the Free Beacon, admitted that they left the money off the report because they decided to reject it.

"McBath’s rejection of the donation is more important than it may sound," the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. "The Sixth District has a significant Jewish population ‐ particularly in Sandy Springs and east Cobb County."

WSCO TV news hound Joe Bruno reported on Wednesday that Dan McCready (D-NC) also returned a $2,000 donation from Omar.

"Dan McCready has refunded a $2000 donation from Rep. Ilhan Omar," Bruno reported. "A spokesperson for McCready tells me Dan believes there is no place for divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
ness in politics and he didn't feel it was appropriate to accept the donation."
According to The Times of Israel, the lady now has plenty of money to share:
Omar raises $830k for reelection amid Trump backlash. Minnesota Democrat draws many out-of-state contributions, according to first quarter finance reports filed same week president said she is disrespectful to Israel and US.

‘Shadowy’ dark money network behind left-wing causes exposed in new report
[FOXNEWS] An expansive network of "shadowy" dark money donors has grown to rival the influence of the conservative Koch network -- pumping millions into left-wing causes ranging from health care to climate change to abortion -- all while flying well under the radar of public scrutiny, according to an explosive new report obtained by Fox News.

The report, by conservative watchdog Capital Research Center, describes a band of nonprofits operating under the banner of Washington-based philanthropy company Arabella Advisors. Those "pop up groups" are housed in four Arabella-controlled "sister" nonprofits, according to the report: the New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, Hopewell Fund and Windward Fund.

"Together, these groups form an interlocking network of 'dark money' pop-up groups and other fiscally sponsored projects, all afloat in a half-billion-dollar ocean of cash," the report says. "The real puppeteer, though, is Arabella Advisors, which has managed to largely conceal its role in coordinating so much of the professional Left’s infrastructure under a mask of ’philanthropy.’"

The report says the "hydra-like" network brought in $1.6 billion between 2013 and 2017 "to advance the political policies desired by wealthy left-wing interests," as the network’s revenues grew by 392 percent. The four Arabella-controlled "sister" groups brought in $582 million in 2017 alone, according to the report. If the four groups were a single entity, it would make them the 22nd largest public charity in America, with higher revenues than the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Planned Parenthood
...has received federal funding since 1970, when President Richard Nixon signed into law the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act. It is sometimes described as the gynecololgical wing of the Democratic party.
or the Clinton Foundation.

"The size and scope of the Arabella network of funds demonstrates far more ’dark money’ exists on the left side of the political spectrum than has been previously admitted," the report says.

Arabella’s website says the company was founded to "provide strategic guidance for effective philanthropy" and is "dedicated to helping clients make a difference on the issues that matter most to them, from climate to women and girls, education, good food, and more." All told, the company represents clients with collective assets totaling more than $100 billion.

But the report alleges the group blurs the line between philanthropy and political advocacy on issues such as ObamaCare, gun control, abortion and opposition to the confirmation of now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. And it says that due to the financial arrangements and lack of donor disclosure, "it is impossible to know which organization subsidizes the various campaigns and political movements spawned by Arabella’s funds."

Dem Rep. Tlaib: ‘I’ve Never Felt More Palestinian Than I’ve Ever Felt in Congress’
[BREITBART] While speaking to the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights on Sunday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) revealed she feels more Paleostinian in Congress now than she has ever felt anywhere else in the world ‐ including in Paleostine.

"You know, myself, Ilhan, and all of us, we watch that people are policing what we say," Tlaib told the attendees. "People are literally policing, ’What do you mean by that Rashida? Do you condemn this?’ I was like, ’I don’t know, did you condemn that?"

"Honestly, I’ve never felt more Paleostinian than I’ve ever felt in Congress ‐ even in Paleostine when I’m visiting my grandmother I’m more ... American," she continued. "But I’m more Paleostinian in the halls of Congress than I am anywhere in the country, in the world. And that just tells you, just the fact that they weren’t ready for us. They really weren’t. But we were ready for this."

West Africa immigrant says two men assaulted, robbed him because of his MAGA hat
[THEBLAZE] Germantown, Maryland: Police arrested 27-year-old Jovan Crawford and 25-year-old Scott Duncan Roberson after they reportedly assaulted and robbed a West African immigrant for wearing his "Make America Great Again" hat in public.
Were they wearing Jussie Smollett hats?
Authorities charged the two men with assault and robbery for the incident, which took place in Germantown, Maryland, over the weekend.

Atsu Nable, who emigrated from West Africa in 2007 and became an American citizen, said that he supported the Republican Party since he moved to the U.S., and became a fan of President Donald Trump when he announced his presidential campaign.

Nable told WTTG-TV that he was walking on a city street when Crawford and Roberson approached him and began berating him for wearing the trademark red cap. He added that one of the suspects hit him from behind.

"I was like, 'Why are you doing that?' You know? We don't have to do this," Nable explained. He said the two men responded by telling him that the hat is "not any good."

"And then they started punching me on my head," Nable added. Unafraid, Nable said he told the suspects that he was permitted to have his own opinions and express them in a manner in which he sees fit. Nable explained that he attempted to walk away from the suspects but that they wouldn't let up on him until he fell to the ground.

Nable said that in addition to berating him, following him, and striking him, they also destroyed his headphones and attempted to grab his cell phone.

According to the outlet, eyewitnesses to the attack phoned authorities. Two police officers discovered the suspects at a nearby basketball court attempting to hide.

WJZ-TV reported that authorities charged Crawford with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, attempt theft $100 to under $1,500, second-degree assault, and malicious destruction of property with a value less than $1,000.

Authorities charged Roberson with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, attempt theft $100 to under $1,500, and second-degree assault.

Despite the scare, Nable remains firm in his beliefs, and told the station that he attended Trump's campaign events and offered to help when the president was inaugurated in Jan. 2017. He said that he wears his hat all the time.

"I came [to the U.S.] for freedom," he told WTTG.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea media reports new tactical weapon test
[Mercury] SEOUL ‐ North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the testing of a new type of tactical guided weapon on Wednesday, state media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Thursday.
"Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator"
It is North Korea’s first public weapons test since the second U.S.-North Korea summit in Hanoi ended with no agreement in February.

KCNA did not describe exactly what the weapon is, including whether it was a missile or another type of weapon, but "tactical" implies a short-range weapon, as opposed to the long-range ballistic missiles that have been seen as a threat to the United States.

Nevertheless, the missile has a "peculiar mode of guiding flight" and "a powerful warhead," KCNA said.

Kim said "the completion of the development of the weapon system serves as an event of very weighty significance in increasing the combat power" of the North Korean army, according to KCNA.

Last year, Kim had also overseen a test of an unidentified "tactical weapon" in November, according to state media, which could protect North Korea like a "steel wall."

Last year, Kim had said North Korea will stop nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles, because Pyongyang’s nuclear capabilities had been "verified."

In Libya, a rogues’ gallery of militias prepare for war
Programs! Gitcher programs right here! You can’t know the players without a program!
[APNEWS] Libya is on the verge of an all-out war involving a rogues’ gallery of militias, many of which are little more than criminal gangs armed with heavy weapons.

The country slid into chaos after the 2011 uprising, in which rebels overthrew and killed longtime dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...a proud Arab institution for 42 years, now among the dear departed, though not the dearest...
and looted his vast arsenal. Even more weapons have flowed in since then, despite a U.N. arms embargo, as Arab states have backed local allies and Western nations have partnered with militias to combat bandidos gunnies and stem the flow of migrants colonists.

#4  The first prime minister screwed it up.

Instead of getting US and UK help in getting the militias disarmed and out of business, he tried to make nice with them and use them to form a popular government...talk about naïve...

Thank you Hillary for yet another colossal mess in the Middle East and thank you emptysuit for embracing the nonsensical Arab Spring and denying it for what it was.

Opposition party’s win in Istanbul officially confirmed
[Rudaw] The electoral win of the main opposition party’s candidate in Istanbul’s mayoral election has been officially confirmed, despite an outstanding request from the ruling party to re-do the election.

Ekrem Imamoglu, of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), won a slim majority in the March 31 municipal elections, beating out the candidate of President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

The Supreme Election Board (YSK) invited Imamoglu to collect his certification on Wednesday afternoon, Hurriyet Daily News reported. A crowd of cheering supporters joined him when he collected the official documentation securing his mandate and an official handover of power is expected to take place later today, according to the news outlet.

The loss of Istanbul, as well as Ankara and Izmir, is a major blow to Erdogan and his party who have been in power for a decade and a half. Erdogan himself grew up in Istanbul and began his political career as mayor of the city in the 1990s. The election was largely seen as a referendum on AKP’s rule and was set against a backdrop of economic hardships after Turkey entered a recession.

YSK is still to issue a ruling on AKP’s request for a rerun of the election in Istanbul. It has ordered at least one re-vote in a northeastern district where AKP led CHP by just three votes.

Diyarbakir’s new mayor, Adnan Selcuk Mizrakli of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), also received his certification on Wednesday.

group in Syria and later helping send another new recruit for IS from Germany to Syria.

Federal prosecutors said the 28-year-old German national, identified only as Volkan L. in line with German privacy rules, was arrested in Hamburg on Wednesday. He is suspected of membership in a foreign terrorist organization.

Prosecutors say that he traveled to Syria in November 2013 to join IS and underwent military training. They say he returned to Germany in March 2014 and turned his attention to finding new recruits.

He is accused of helping organize travel to Syria for one such person in summer 2014, acting as a go-between between the recruit and an IS member in Syria.
