Europe
EU Court Stops Deportations of Migrants Even If They Are Security Threats
[Breitbart] The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has given a series of rulings on deportation cases involving migrants who had either been convicted of crimes or deemed a security threat, refusing to allow them to be deported in case they face torture in their own countries.

The three cases ruled on by the court involve migrants from Congo, Ivory Coast, and Chechnya who were refused asylum status in either Belgium or the Czech Republic because they had either been convicted of serious crimes or deemed to be a threat to the national security of either country, Il Giornale reports.

The ruling could be a blow for populist Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini who has promised to begin deportations of criminal migrants to their home countries and has set aside money to help negotiate the transfer of illegal migrants to countries where Italy does not have repatriation agreements.

Salvini reacted to the ruling saying, “This is why it is important to change this Europe with a vote for the Lega on May 26th,” and went on to add, “However, I do not change my mind and I do not change the law: the ‘asylum seekers’ who rape, steal and sell drugs, will all go back to their home. And in the Security Decree, there are even more stringent rules against smugglers and traffickers.”

The migration and security decree was drafted and passed by the Italian parliament last year, despite some rebellion from Senators in the Five Star Movement (M5S), Salvini’s coalition partner. The decree also scraps the humanitarian residency permit, which the government expects will lead to 2,000 or so migrants leaving the country per month to return to their homelands.

Britain
Man arrested after bomb threat at Portsmouth vs Sunderland play-off clash
[ChronicleLive] A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to 'kill 150 fans' at Sunderland's crucial play-off second leg against Portsmouth.

Police confirmed a 22-year-old, from Northallerton, North Yorkshire, was arrested in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of making threats to kill and remains in police custody at this time.

A series of threats were posted on Twitter referencing the Manchester Arena bombing which killed 23 people in May 2017.

"I wounder (sic) how many Portsmouth fans I can shoot everyone remember the Manchester arena bombing just imagine fratton park going bang well let's find out tomorrow," read the initial post.

It was followed by: "Bomb bomb fratton park went bang the Portsmouth fans all died Haha going to be fun tomorrow headline news."

The Twitter account has since been suspended with Portsmouth ramping up security at Fratton Park ahead of the League One play-off semi final contest.

K–12: Educrats Are Parasites
BLUF:
[American Thinker] Parents in American K‐12 often see that their children are unhappy and not learning much. But parents for the most part tolerate this abuse. Why?

Teachers accept danger, disrespect, and the constant prospect of burnout. The autonomous activity that teachers traditionally engaged in is effectively prohibited. Why do they accept this?

Meanwhile, unnecessary administrators swarm through the system, and superintendents are notoriously overpaid, many above $200,000 a year. Principals and administrators hardly deign to negotiate with the community except to say, "No, you can't." The Education Establishment has changed public education into a lucrative private business. Why do taxpayers tolerate this underperforming but overcharging colossus?

For all of these questions, one obvious answer is parasitic mind control. John Dewey and his true believers wanted to use the school system for social engineering. They had to rewire, intellectually speaking, the system so it would pursue new goals in new ways. Dewey's plot has been successful.

Perdue says farmer aid package still a work in progress
WASHINGTON (AP) ‐ Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said Wednesday his agency is still "in the throes of constructing" an aid package for farmers hurt by retaliatory tariffs, but he is not prepared to say when it will be ready.

Perdue said the Agriculture Department is reviewing feedback from producers about the strengths and weaknesses of last year’s relief package, valued at up to $12 billion. This year’s package could range between $15 billion and $20 billion, Perdue projected.

He also predicted that the relief amount will be enough to offset losses that farmers are facing as a result of lower prices due in part to retaliatory tariffs.

President Donald Trump tasked Perdue with putting together another aid package for farmers after talks with China deteriorated in recent weeks. The Trump administration responded by more than doubling tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese imports and spelled out plans to target the $300 billion worth that aren’t already facing 25% taxes.

China retaliated with tariffs on $60 billion in U.S. imports. China and other countries hit by U.S. tariffs have largely targeted American agriculture in response to Trump’s tariffs.

Austria MPs approve law banning headscarf in primary schools
[Aljazeera] Austrian MPs on Wednesday approved a law aimed at banning the headscarf in primary schools, a measure proposed by the ruling right-wing government.

To avoid charges that the law discriminates against Muslims, the text refers to any "ideologically or religiously influenced clothing which is associated with the covering of the head".

However, representatives of both parts of the governing coalition, the centre-right People's Party (OeVP) and the far-right Freedom Party (FPOe), have made it clear that the law is targeted at the Muslim headscarf.

FPOe education spokesman Wendelin Moelzer said the law was "a signal against political Islam" while OeVP MP Rudolf Taschner said the measure was necessary to free girls from "subjugation".

The government says the patka head covering worn by Sikh boys or the Jewish kippa would not be affected.

Separatist group ETA's 'most wanted' Josu Ternera arrested in France
MADRID (Reuters) - ETA kingpin Josu Ternera, accused by Spain of taking part in a 1987 attack by the since dissolved Basque separatist group that killed 11 people, was arrested in France early on Thursday.

Ternera, 69, also known as Jose Antonio Urrutikoetxea, was ETA’s "most wanted" leader on both side of the Pyrenees, Spain’s interior ministry said in a statement.

Ternera had been a fugitive since 2002 when, while he was serving as a lawmaker in the Basque regional parliament, Spain’s supreme court issued an international arrest warrant against him over his alleged involvement in the 1987 attack.

He was detained in a joint Franco-Spanish operation in the alpine Haute Savoie region near France’s border with Switzerland and Italy.

ETA, whose dissolution Ternera announced last year, bombed a police barracks in the city of Zaragoza in December 1987, killing 11 people including six children.

AG Barr Trolls Pelosi at the Capitol: ‘Madam Speaker, Did You Bring Your Handcuffs?'
[Free Beacon] Attorney General William Barr asked Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) if she brought "handcuffs" for him Wednesday at the Capitol, following her accusing him of lying to Congress earlier this month.

According to multiple reporters, Barr approached Pelosi following the National Peace Officers Memorial Service in Washington, shook her hand, and asked, "Madam Speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?" Pelosi smiled and said the House Sergeant at Arms was present if an arrest was necessary, to which Barr laughed and walked away.

Some congressional Democrats have called for Barr to be jailed after the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold him in contempt when he ignored a subpoena for the unredacted Russia report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Georgia Dem Senate Candidate Opposed to Abortion Law Said in 2010 Life Began at Conception
[Free beacon] Georgia Democratic Senate candidate Teresa Tomlinson said in 2010 she believed in life at conception, but she told MSNBC Saturday it was "biologically impossible" for one person to live within another while criticizing the newly signed Georgia abortion law.

Campaign spokeswoman Caitlin Highland told the Washington Free Beacon that Tomlinson "disputes the suggestion that personhood begins at conception" when asked if she had changed her mind about her earlier position.

"Because Mayor Tomlinson believes in biology, she understands that cellular life begins at conception," Highland said in an email. "But cellular life is not personhood; she vehemently disputes the suggestion that personhood begins at conception, or anytime up to birth."

Tomlinson, an attorney who served two terms as mayor of Columbus, Georgia, announced her bid to seek the Democratic nomination shortly after Stacey Abrams declined to enter the race.

She has been harshly critical of the pro-life bill signed by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R.), which outlaws abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, often around the six-week mark of a pregnancy. It excludes victims of rape or incest. Pro-choice groups have vowed to go to court and fight the law, which will go into effect in 2020.

Tomlinson told MSNBC's Joy Reid on Saturday that the goal of the legislation was to "overturn" Roe vs. Wade.

Joe diGenova: ‘John Brennan Is the Mastermind' of ‘Conspiracy to Frame Donald Trump'
BLUF:
[Breitbart] DiGenova said, "It’s very important for people to realize this was not some little idea that popped into Brennan’s head. There was a brazen plot that started before the election, and the plot was to illegally exonerate Hillary Clinton so that she could become president, and then if she lost, there was an insurance policy to frame Donald Trump so he could be prevented from taking office or removed from office after inauguration."

"John Brennan is at the core of this conspiracy," added diGenova. "His handymen and acolytes were Clapper and Comey and the senior FBI officials who worked with Comey. Let’s not forget that all of the people in senior levels of the Department of Justice under Obama were involved in this plot."

"Loretta Lynch was too dumb to be allowed to lead it," speculated diGenova.

"This is Brennan Inc. It’s a Brennan special," concluded diGenova.

Over 60 Palestinians Wounded In Nakba Day Protests, 9 Fires Near Border
[Jpost] Over 60 Paleostinians were maimed and several fires broke out in the South in protests marking Nakba Day on Wednesday afternoon along the border fence between Gazoo and Israel.

The IDF said around 10,000 Paleostinians in several locations along the fence burned tires and threw stones and bombs toward troops. In addition, a number of attempts by Gazooks to approach the security fence were identified by troops, who used riot control measures against the rioters.

Paleostinian media also reported the IDF firing live bullets, tear gas and skunk spray at protesters trying to damage the border fence with Israel.

Sri Lanka
Arrests, New Curfews in Sri Lanka after Anti-Muslim Riots
[AnNahar] Sri Lanka's police jugged
Into the paddy wagon wit' yez!
over 100 suspects and reimposed night curfews in violence-prone areas Wednesday after anti-Moslem riots left one man dead and caused extensive damage to homes, businesses and mosques.

Police front man Ruwan Gunasekera said 78 people arrested in the worst-affected North-Western Province (NWP) were remanded in jug Wednesday, while the rest were detained after a manhunt in other areas.

Some 5,500 additional police were deployed in NWP to contain the violence that claimed the life of a Moslem man on Monday. Scores of private homes, Moslem-owned shops and businesses were destroyed, while several mosques were also vandalised.

Moslems in Sri Lanka have been bracing for Dire Revenge attacks since three churches and three luxury hotels were bombed by local Islamist murderous Moslems on April 21, killing 258 people.

Gunasekera said a night curfew was being reimposed in NWP, just north of the capital, as well as the adjoining Gampaha district, which shares a border with Colombo, as a measure to "maintain peace".

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
a top police source said there will be no curfews elsewhere in the country. The entire country was under night curfews for two straight days after the violence escalated.

The night curfew on Tuesday ensured there was no repeat of Monday's violence against Moslems, who make up some 10 percent of Sri Lanka's population of 21 million.

"The situation is now totally under control," said military front man Sumith Atapattu. "There were no incidents of violence overnight and we are arresting groups of people responsible for taking part in mob attacks."

Official sources said police deployed special teams to review CCTV camera footage to identify the perpetrators and carry out more arrests.

More police and army units were seen deployed in the troubled areas as the authorities lifted the nationwide curfew on Wednesday morning.

But Moslems in NWP remained nervous and stayed indoors Wednesday, after sword-wielding rioters killed one man late Monday while vandalising scores of shops and mosques.

In Bingiriya, where some 2,000 people went on the rampage, Moslem holy man M.I.M. Siddeeque said the community was worried.

"Our people are still afraid to go out," he told AFP by telephone.

Government front man Navin Dissanayake said the authorities had identified the leaders of the mobs and they were already in police custody.

- FEAR PERSISTS -
"People feel insecure and I acknowledge that," government minister Dissanayake told news hounds in Colombo. "We have given the armed forces of this country... a complete free hand to tackle the security situation."

Among those detained was Amith Weerasinghe, a man from Sri Lanka's majority Buddhist Sinhalese community and on bail for his role in similar riots in March last year in the central Kandy district.

Another was identified as Namal Kumara, a deserter from both the army and the air force.

The police, meanwhile, also made several changes in the command structure by removing senior officers in the troubled areas after allegations officials did nothing to stop the rioters. The military released CCTV which showed a man in uniform apparently standing by while a mob pelted stones at a home, and sought public help to identify the individual.

A state of emergency has been in place since the Easter bombings and security forces have been given sweeping powers to detain suspects.

Internet service providers said the telecoms regulator on Tuesday extended a social media ban to Twitter.

Earlier, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Instagram had been blocked to prevent the spread of messages inciting violence.

Salon.com, a leftist on line pub, being sold or maybe it will liquidate
[TheWrap] Salon Media says they have reached an 11th hour deal to sell the company and its flagship property Salon.com (a leftist pub which began in the 90s and has been kept alive by frequent donations by rich lefties despite running up at least $100M in losses) for $5 million. In an SEC filing, Salon also revealed its position was dire and that it would face imminent "bankruptcy and liquidation" if the deal should fall through.
The business plan of

"let's get people to subscribe so they can get more leftist opinions than they can get from CNN, etc. for free and we can hire a lot of writers and pay them almost nothing as long as we stroke their ego every now and then"

didn't seem to work.

5 Lebanese to be Released, 3 Sentenced in UAE Hizbullah Trial
[AnNahar] A relative says that a Lebanese man held in the United Arab Emirates on charges of terrorism has been sentenced to life in prison, while five others were ordered released.

The relative of Abdul Rahman Shouman, 39, said the sentences were handed down Wednesday in a state security court in the Emirates. The relative, speaking from Leb, refused to be identified for security reasons.

He said Shouman was charged with being one of the leaders of a terrorist cell with links to Leb's Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
group. Shouman has been denied access to his lawyer, the relative said. Two others were sentenced to 10 years while five were acquitted.

The eight men, Shiite and long-time residents of Emirates, were detained over a year ago. Shouman trained Emirati airline staff on security and safety.

"The absence of basic requirements of a fair trial, such as having access to a lawyer, strips today's verdict of any reliability or credibility," said Lynn Maalouf, Amnesia Amnesty International's Middle East research head.

"The eight men were held in solitary confinement for over a year -- this in itself can amount to torture. They were denied access to lawyers during the pre-trial interrogation," she said in a statement.

China-Japan-Koreas
China’s tariffs on US Liquefied Natural Gas to have long-term impact
[DAWN] China’s decision to hike import duties on US liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a move that means very little for the market in the short-term, but it has the potential to deliver outsised consequences the longer the levies remain in place.

As part of its latest round of retaliatory tariffs on US imports, Beijing increased the duty on LNG shipments from 10 per cent to 25pc.

This will make it even more uneconomic for Chinese buyers to purchase LNG cargoes from the US. The 10pc tariff put in place last year has already devastated the trade, with China’s imports of the fuel dropping sharply.

China imported 25 US LNG cargoes in the first half of 2018, and this slipped to just eight in the second half, according to vessel-tracking data compiled by Refintiv.

This year, a mere three cargoes have been delivered, one each in January, February and March, and no more are currently scheduled to arrive in the coming months.

This means in practical terms that raising China’s import duty will have little impact on global LNG flows.

But there are certain to be longer-term consequences from the fastest-growing LNG market effectively locking out the world’s fastest-growing supplier.

Much of the new LNG coming on stream this year and next is based in the US, as companies rush to take advantage of the plentiful and cheap supplies of natural gas delivered by the nation’s shale boom.

It’s also worth noting that the US is the dominant player in the next wave of LNG projects being planned around the world.

The US currently has 64.2 million tonnes of annual LNG capacity under construction, the bulk of which will hit the market this year and next. Together with Canada, it also has a further 164.2m tonnes in capacity for which the final investment decisions are due by the end of next year.

The market expectation is that China will overtake Japan as the world’s largest LNG importer sometime in the next decade, even though its annual rate of growth will moderate from the breakneck pace of more than 40pc for the past two years.

DNA test shows suspect as serial rapist of children in Karachi
[DAWN] Police on Tuesday informed an antiterrorism court that a detained suspect’s DNA sample had matched in at least four cases of alleged rape of minor girls in the metropolis.

Police claimed to have detained a suspect for allegedly trying to kidnap a minor girl with the intention to rape her within the remit of the Sukhan cop shoppe in 2018.

On Tuesday, the matter came up for hearing before the ATC-X judge, who is conducting trial in the judicial complex inside the central prison.

Assistant prosecutor general Ghulam Abbas Dalwani pointed out that separate reports had been filed by two investigating officers of five identical cases pertaining to alleged sexual assaults on minor girls.

In a report filed by DSP Ali Hassan Sheikh, the investigating officer of three identical cases stated that the suspect was caught while allegedly trying to kidnap a minor girl with the intention to commit rape of the child in the Sukhan area.

It further said that though the child was not subjected to any sexual assault, on "suspicion" the police obtained the suspect’s sample of the DNA and sent it to a laboratory for matching with those drawn from four minor girls, who had been subjected to sexual assault, but the cases had been pending trial since 2015.

The prosecutor disclosed that the medical report dramatically revealed that the suspect’s sample had matched with those of the five children, who were victims of sexual assault. Subsequently, the prosecution said the suspect’s involvement in other cases had been determined with medical evidence, thus he had been booked in those cases as well.

The prosecutor also submitted a report filed by DSP Khalid, the investigating officer of two of the five cases of sexual assaults on minor girls.

In the report, filed under Section 169 of the Criminal Procedure Code, IO Khalid recommended release of two suspects who were tossed into the calaboose in connection with the pending cases of child abuse.

Man allegedly kills wife, daughter and relative over suspicion of being in a relationship
[DAWN] A man in Shangla on Wednesday allegedly killed his wife, daughter and a male relative after suspecting both women of involvement in a relationship with the man, said a Station House Officer (SHO).

SHO Chawga Bakht Haleem told Dawn that locals informed him of the incident that took place in the Shekolai area of Makhozi tehsil.

After receiving the information, he went to the site of the incident and found the bodies of the two women in a pool of blood inside the house, while another body was found on the road, at a distance of approximately 100 feet.

Haleem said that the suspect had killed his relative after killing his wife and daughter.

The SHO said that the bodies were taken to the nearby Chawga hospital where doctors conducted a post-mortem examination.

"We have started the paperwork but haven't done much else [under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistain Penal Code] against Abdul Saboor and raids are being conducted to arrest him as he fled [the site of the incident] along with the weapon after committing the crime," he added.

According to the SHO, the suspect was 38-years-old while his wife, Rukhsana, was 36-years-old and his daughter was 18-years old.

Haleem added that further interrogations were underway and efforts were being made to arrest the suspect.

Saudi 'green card' to allow expats to own property, start business in kingdom
[DAWN] The Saudi cabinet is deliberating over a proposed scheme to issue 'Privileged Iqamas' to expatriates that would allow them to become permanent residents, own properties and start businesses in the kingdom without the need of local sponsors called kafeel, Arab News reported.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the existing system, expatriates cannot start a business without a kafeel, who is required to have a sizeable share in the venture, which often leads to monetary disputes.

If the new scheme goes through, those on visit visas will also be spared from the hassle of visiting embassies every few months to get extensions.

The Privileged Iqama, or the Saudi 'green card', could also benefit the nearly 2.7 million Paks living in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. Iraq may stand to benefit from heightened US-Iran tensions
Posted without comment because I lack the vocabulary.
[Rudaw] Iraq could stand to benefit from "gigantic" economic deals with US companies if it capitalises on elevated tension as Baghdad tries to maintain a balancing act, suggested American analyst David Pollock in Rudaw's most recent episode of The Washington Perspective.

Pollock is the Bernstein Fellow at The Washington Institute, focusing on regional political dynamics and related issues. He is also the director of Project Fikra, the Institute's think-tank aimed at countering the spread of extremism in the Middle East.

Pollock's comments come amid a period of "deliberate heightened tension" between the two countries. The United States' application of "maximum pressure" in the form of hardline policies like its withdrawal from the JCPOA (more widely known as the Iran nuclear deal) last year, the re-imposition of ever-growing sanctions since November, the designation of the 120,000-strong Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization, and the deployment of warships to the Persian Gulf have sparked fury in Iran. Iran has retaliated by setting a 60-day deadline for new terms for its nuclear deal on May 8.

‘I don't understand': Jacinda Ardern mystified by lack of US gun control
[Guardian] New Zealand's prime minister has said she cannot understand America's failure to ban automatic and semi-automatic guns, despite dozens of mass shootings.
Drop her off in Chicago and let her experience more stringent gun laws than NZ.
Jacinda Ardern told CNN's Christiane Amanpour in unusually blunt language: "Australia experienced a massacre and changed its laws. New Zealand has had its experience and changed its laws. To be honest with you, I don't understand the United States."
Christiane doesn't understand either.
See, here’s the thing: we changed our laws some decades ago, and found that made things worse. So we’ve been changing them back. No doubt eventually y’all will also figure it out.
Ardern is in Paris where she is lobbying countries and global tech companies to sign the "Christchurch Call", a voluntary pledge that aims to eradicate terrorist and violent content online in the wake of the worst mass shooting in New Zealand's modern history.
Yes, disarming lawful citizens always has that effect.
The US is not sending anyone to the meeting of digital ministers from the Group of 7 nations to discuss the plan, and is not intending to sign the pledge.
I believe the actual text of the reply was "Are you nuts?".
WTF is a "digital minister"?
President Trump doesn’t do pointless joint virtue signalling just to make other countries feel better about doing nothing together.
Christchurch Call: details emerge of Ardern's plan to tackle online extremism

The day before the summit, Facebook said it was tightening rules on use of its livestreaming feature, which was used to broadcast the Christchurch attack. It said people who have faced disciplinary action for breaking Facebook's most serious rules would be temporarily suspended from using the Live function.

Facebook did not specify which offences were eligible or how long suspensions would last, but a spokeswoman claimed it would not have been possible for the attack to have been livestreamed.

Talking to Amanpour, Ardern said that before the Christchurch mosque shootings on 15 March, in which 51 people died, New Zealand had "pretty permissive gun legislation".

But despite New Zealand being a hunting and food-producing nation, that was not justification enough for access to high-powered military-style rifles, Ardern said, and the Labour coalition government passed legislation banning access within weeks of the massacre.
Let them eat cake.
"We will continue to be a food-producing nation that deals with animal welfare issues and so on, and has a practical purpose and use for guns, but you can draw a line and say that that does not mean that you need access to military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles. You do not. And New Zealanders, by and large, absolutely agreed with that position," Ardern said.
Lotta sheep in NZ?.
Six days after the Christchurch mosque attacks, the New Zealand the government announced it would ban all military-style semi-automatics (MSSA) and assault rifles in New Zealand. Related parts used to convert these guns into MSSAs were also banned, along with all high-capacity magazines.

In the days and weeks after the Christchurch shootings, hundreds of New Zealanders voluntarily surrendered their weapons to police, before an official government buy-back scheme was launched that is expected to cost NZ$100-200m ($65m-$130m).
How is it a buy-back when the Gov't never owned them in the first place?

The US suspends all air service between Venezuela and the US

All commercial passenger and cargo flights between U.S. and Venezuela suspended indefinitely

[10 News] The Department of Homeland Security has suspended all flights between the U.S. and Venezuela.

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan determined that conditions in Venezuela threaten the safety and security of passengers, aircraft, and crew, requiring an immediate suspension of all commercial passenger and cargo flights between the United States and Venezuela.

The Secretary of State has approved flight suspension and the Secretary of Transportation has implemented the determination.

The move is based on ongoing political instability and increased tensions in the country, and associated inadvertent risk to flight operations, a press release said.

According to DHS, if and when the conditions in Venezuela change, and if in the public interest, the Secretaries will revisit this determination. Until then, the flight suspension will remain in effect indefinitely.

20-year-old AJK student killed in 'unprovoked' firing by Indian troops across LoC
[DAWN] A young student lost his life in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday after Indian troops resorted to 'unprovoked' ceasefire violation from across the Line of Control (LoC), civil and military officials said.

Umar Subhani, a 20-year-old BSc student, was said to be making preparations for iftar in the courtyard of his house in Danna Baroh village when Indian troops targeted him with small arms fire, said Mubashar Mushtaq, a disaster management officer in Bhimber district.

Danna Baroh village is located in close proximity to the restive LoC in Samahni subdivision of Bhimber district.

"It was yet another incident of targeted firing, something Indian troops have been frequently resorting to from across the dividing line," Mushtaq said.

Syrian Army has plans to retake western Aleppo from jihadist forces
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is currently on the offensive in the northwestern countryside of Hama; however, it does not appear that they will be pushing all the way to Idlib during this operation.
How many I'mgonnas equals one Idid?
Instead, a source from the Syrian military told al-Masdar this morning that the armed forces have plans to clear the western and southern countrysides of Aleppo before making any push towards Idlib.

According to the source, the Syrian military wants to clear the western, northwestern, and southern outskirts of Aleppo city and expel all of the jihaidst groups that have conintuously attacked Syria’s economic capital and its one-million-plus population.

In particular, the Syrian Arab Army is first eyeing the Scientific Research area and al-Zahra’a Association Quarter; these two areas have a large presence of jihadist and Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels.

Once these areas are cleared, the Syrian Army will shift their attention to the outskirts of the city, where jihadist groups in al-Mansoura, Kafr Hamra, Dart Izza, Khan al-Assal, and Rashideen 4 and 5 are constantly launching attacks from.

The source did not say whether or not the Syrian military would push to Saraqib city, which is a bad boy stronghold near the Aleppo Governorate border.

While Saraqib is not under Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
control, it is a major city along the Aleppo-Latakia Highway. To capture it will be difficult because the Ottoman Turkish military currently has an observation post in the area and the local population favors the rebel groups.

For these reasons and many more, the Syrian military will not likely make any push to capture Saraqib at this time.

Shropshire teenager 'raped in supermarket car park'
There’s the hard jihad of the sword, the soft jihad of the law, and clearly the fun jihad of the rape.
[BBC] A teenager was taken to a supermarket car park where a gang of men were waiting to have sex with her, jurors have heard.

Ayad Abdulla Hizam, Ghamer Sulayman and Saleh Qasem are on trial over alleged child sexual exploitation in Telford.

Prosecutors say the 15-year-old victim was "scared and coerced" into sex acts.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard how on one occasion 12 men were waiting, in three or four cars, to have sex with her, and laughed and joked as they did so.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was allegedly first contacted by Hizam, 21, in early 2016.

Prosecutor Mark Heywood claimed she told him she was 15, but he persuaded her to go to a hotel in Telford, where they had consensual sex.

It is claimed Sulayman, 22, later contacted her through Snapchat, and offered to take her shopping but instead took her to a house in Birmingham where he allegedly raped her and other men had sex with her. He is alleged to have also taken her to the supermarket car park.

Judge Peter Barrie warned the jury to hear the case with "cool-headed and careful assessment".

Hizam, of Bridgecroft, Birmingham denies four counts of child abduction and four counts of sexual activity with a child. Sulayman, of Mercia Drive, denies seven counts of rape and three of trafficking. Qasem, 19, of Poplar Avenue, Runcorn Road, denies one count of sexual assault and one of trafficking.

They face a total of 20 charges. The trial continues.

Syrian Army breaks through jihadist defenses to capture several areas
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored a big advance along the Hama-Idlib axis on Tuesday, seizing several areas from the jihadist rebels.

Led by the Tiger Forces and Elite Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault on Tuesdya by breaking through the jihadist defenses at the al-Shari’ah Airfield.

Once the airfield was secured, the Syrian Arab Army seized another nearby town while making their way further northeast towards the Idlib Governorate’s southern border.

This latest advance by the Syrian Arab Army has paved the way for their forces to secure the northern perimeter of the historical town of Qal’at al-Madiq in northwestern Hamal.

In a new video from the Syrian Ministry of Defense, the Syrian Arab Army can be seen advancing around Qal’at al-Madiq:

Media Matters Employees Aid Watchdog Hitting Trump With Dozens of Lawsuits
[FREEBEACON] A "nonpartisan" government watchdog group that has generated a steady flow of litigation against President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
shares employees with the left-wing Media Matters for America, according to an independent audit.
David Brock - "Cocaine is a helluva drug" troll doll
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed lawsuits against Trump and government agencies nearly every month since he was sworn into office. These actions follow a plan that was laid out in a confidential memo from David Brock, the liberal operative who founded Media Matters, American Bridge, and Shareblue, that was handed out to deep-pocketed liberal donors as Trump was taking office.

Brock stepped away from CREW in 2016 because he did not want the group to appear overtly partisan as Trump was coming into power.

"Due to my stepped-up political activities in the American Bridge opposition research super PAC, I decided to step off CREW's board to ensure its public reputation for non-partisanship," Brock wrote in a statement post to CREW's website in December 2016. "I'm very proud of the work CREW has accomplished during my two years on board, and its work is more relevant now than ever."

At this time, Norm Eisen, a former ethics czar for President Obama, was announced as the group's new chair while Richard Painter, a self-identified Republican who served as an ethics lawyer under George W. Bush, would act as the group's vice chair. Eisen was tapped earlier this year by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee to help its chair, Rep. Jerry Nadler, pursue congressional investigations into Trump and put pressure on Attorney General William Barr.
"Norm Eisen, a former ethics czar for President Obama" - Let that sink in
Despite distancing himself from CREW on paper, Brock never veered far from the group. Just one month after his resignation, the Clinton loyalist held a private retreat with more than 100 liberal donors at the posh Turnberry Isle Resort just outside of Miami where they discussed how they would "kick Donald Trump's ass."

I continue to find it highly amusing that people are still pointing out that a real estate investor had huge losses on his tax returns. You could do your part and send one of these in to the IRS. If it's plausible information, they'll do the audit. I sent one of these in back in the late '90's and wound up with a check for just under $25,000. I dropped a dime on a lawyer who was doing a lot of dirty shit so I sent in this form, attached what was essentially a four or five page audit guide telling them where to find everything, and I waited about seven years until they finished the audit(s) and they collected a ton of back taxes from him, which is the condition that must be met for anyone to receive an award through this program. I figure the IRS hit the bastard for $167K - $250K in back Federal taxes because of it, and then I got my cut (10% to 15%).

KP doctors call province-wide strike after police fail to lodge FIR against health minister
[DAWN] Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Doctors Council (KPDC) announced on Wednesday a province-wide strike in all hospitals and private clinics after the police failed to register a first information report (FIR) against the provincial health minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan and his security guards for allegedly thrashing an assistant professor at the surgical ward.

"We will continue the strike until police register FIR against the health minister and his guards," Dr Siraj, a member of the KPDC, told DawnNews. He added that the decision was taken by the body during a meeting held earlier today.

"All doctors are on the same page [on this matter] and demand a fair inquiry," he said.

Yesterday, the doctors at the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) called a strike after Dr Ziauddin Afridi, an assistant professor, was allegedly beaten by Hisham's guards. The doctors suspended services at all levels in protest and also blocked traffic on University Road near Town cop shoppe. During the protest, five doctors went inside the cop shoppe to lodge an FIR against the health minister but were physically assaulted, KPDC members said. Dr Farooq, another KPDC member, shared a video clip that showed doctors and coppers exchanging harsh words and pushing each other.

The doctors' body has warned that if the police fail to register an FIR of the incident by Thursday, doctors will not attend outpatient clinics and emergency services will be shut down as well.

The episode started on Tuesday when Dr Afridi gatecrashed a meeting being chaired by Prof Nausherwan Burki, who is a close relative of Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
. The doctor attempted to share his grievances against the administration for not promoting him to the position of associate professor at Khyber Medical College. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
all of a sudden he threw eggs at Prof Burki and was subsequently taken out of the conference by police.

An hour later, the provincial health minister arrived at the hospital and held a meeting with the administration reportedly at the request of Prof Burki, who has been coming to Pakistain from the US every month to bring reforms in the health sector since 2013.

Dr Hisham then met the doctor and the two exchanged hot words and physical bouts and kicks. The health minister's guards immediately came into action and beat up the surgeon, who was then taken to the operating theatre for head and neck injuries.

An FIR was lodged against Dr Afridi and three others for throwing eggs at Dr Burki; however, so far no action has been taken against Dr Hisham. The health minister has maintained that he acted in "self defence". In a presser, Dr Hisham said that he had gone to the hospital to apologise to Dr Burki and had confronted Dr Afridi for his actions. He alleged that Dr Afridi had a "sharp object" in his hands which prompted the health minister's guards to physically assault the KTH assistant professor.

Dr Afridi, on the other hand, said that Dr Hisham had used abusive language and ordered his guards to beat the surgeon.

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck and Manuel's rivalry was entering a new and more dangerous phase...
the chief minister took notice of the incident and ordered inquiry. Hospital administration later banned Dr Afridi from entering the Khyber Medical College.

Iraq
Iran poses no threat to US, foreign representatives in Iraq: PM
[Rudaw] Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi said on Tuesday that Baghdad has no information "that could constitute a threat to anyone," as tensions continue to flare between the United States and Iran. His comments came just hours before Washington ordered the withdrawal of all non-essential staff from its missions across the country.

Speaking to news hounds at his weekly presser in Baghdad on Tuesday night, the PM said Iraq is working behind the scenes to ease US-Iran tensions.

"We check with all the armed forces, Hashd al-Shaabi, Peshmerga. We check the information that every side has. As of now we haven't recorded serious movements that could constitute a threat to anyone," Abdul-Mahdi told news hounds on Tuesday night.

"Even with that, the government reiterates that its duty is to protect everyone. It doesn't want any assault against whosoever is here, against any component, embassy or anyone who has a contract with Iraq and works in Iraq," he said.

"Iraq isn't the soil of rivalry. Iraq is the land of consensus. We also don't want Iraq to be the launchpad to attack anyone. These two things, these two equations are interlinked. We don't accept Iraq being the soil of transgression," the PM added.

The US State Department ordered all non-essential babus government employees to leave the country on Wednesday. The statement was directed at its embassy in Baghdad and consulate in Erbil. The consulate in Basra implemented similar steps in September.

In his presser, Abdul-Mahdi said Iraq is trying to mediate between its Iranian and American allies to prevent an escalation into open conflict.
The Jerusalem Post adds:
In September, Rooters reported that Iran had transferred ballistic missiles to Shi’ite proxies in Iraq over the course of several months, and that it is developing the capacity to build more there. The missiles that were said to have been transferred include the Fateh-110, Zolfaqar, and Zelzal types, which have ranges of 200-700 km., allowing them to be able to threaten both Soddy Arabia

Travel Advisory: Level 4-Do not travel to Iraq

US pulls ‘non-emergency’ staff out of Iraq, warns of kidnapping risk

[Rudaw] The United States has pulled some of its babus government employees out of Iraq, suspended some services at its missions in the country, and warned its nationals about the risk of violence or kidnapping because of an "imminent" threat that is directly tied to Iran on the same day as the chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warns about all-out confrontation with the US.

The US State Department suspended normal visa services at its consulate in Erbil and embassy in Baghdad on Wednesday, additionally ordering "non-emergency" babus government employees to leave.

"The U.S. State Department has ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. Government employees from Iraq, both at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S. Consulate in Erbil," read a statement posted by the embassy on Wednesday.

"Normal visa services at both posts will be temporarily suspended. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Iraq," the statement added.

The State Department also increased its travel advisory to the most extreme level, telling people not to travel to Iraq because of the risk or "terrorism, kidnapping, and armed conflict," on Wednesday.

"U.S. citizens in Iraq are at high risk for violence and kidnapping. Numerous terrorist and holy warrior groups are active in Iraq and regularly attack both Iraqi security forces and civilians. Anti-U.S. sectarian militias may also threaten U.S. citizens and Western companies throughout Iraq. Attacks by improvised bombs (IEDs) occur in many areas of the country, including Baghdad," the State Department warned.

Hundreds of US citizens live in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and some 5,000 American troops are stationed at Iraqi bases at the invitation of Baghdad.

The evacuation order was issued because of an "imminent" threat that was directly linked to Iran, AFP reported, citing senior State Department officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"It is directly linked to Iran, multiple threat streams directly linked to Iran," said one official.

"This is an imminent threat to our personnel," said a second official. "This threat stream, let me tell you, is real... It's IRGC-commanded and controlled Iraqi militias."

Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami, the new head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said today that Iran is reaching the apex of an all-out confrontation with the United States that is exerting maximum pressure in an attempt to shake Iran’s resolve.

"This stage of history is considered the most fateful stage of the Islamic revolution because the enemy has stepped into the confrontation theatre with us using all its capabilities," he said, Tasnim news reported.

Iran backs elements within Iraq’s influential Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which officially are answerable to the prime minister, who is also commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi said on Tuesday that they have no seen movement that could be deemed threatening.

Fighting grips Yemen's Hodeidah port, complicating peace moves

...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
fighters and Saudi-backed pro-government forces battled in Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah on Wednesday, breaching a ceasefire and potentially complicating a troop withdrawal agreement intended to pave the way for wider peace talks.

Hodeidah port, which has been under Houthi control, is a lifeline for millions of Yemenis threatened by starvation because of the war as it is the main entry point for food imports and aid.

The Houthi withdrawal from Hodeidah and two other Red Sea ports began on Saturday and was the most significant advance yet in efforts to end the four-year-old war.

The United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
said on Tuesday the ports had been handed over to a coasties and the pullout was going to plan.

But both sides reported renewed festivities on Wednesday, a day after the Iran-aligned Houthi movement grabbed credit for a drone attack that Soddy Arabia

said had hit two of its oil pumping stations.

Houthi-run media said pro-government forces had hit various parts of Hodeidah city, including the airport, with heavy and medium weapons.

It did not say if they were Yemeni troops or members of an international military coalition led by Saudi Arabia which backs President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s Aden-based government

The coalition-backed forces said in a report that Houthi fighters tried to infiltrate Hodeidah and the al-Duraihmi area to its south but pro-government troops foiled them.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, a leading member of the coalition, have yet to comment on the Houthi withdrawal.

The coalition has forces massed on Hodeidah’s outskirts and under the withdrawal plan’s first phase, they are supposed to eventually also draw back.

Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television said on Wednesday that government forces had killed 97 Houthi fighters in the governorate of al-Dhalea in southwest Yemen. There was no confirmation from the Houthis and Rooters could not immediately verify this.

The Saudi-led coalition, which receives weapons and other support from the West, intervened in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in March 2015 after the Houthi movement ousted Hadi from the capital Sanaa. Hadi fled to Saudi Arabia while his internationally-recognized government based itself in the southern port city of Aden.

The war is seen as part of a wider regional conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Tens of thousands of people have been killed, many of them civilians, and aid agencies say the humanitarian crisis is the worst in the world.

A statement by Major Saadun Hawdyani, spokesperson for Soran district police, revealed that a 60-year-old retired Peshmerga named Kazim Ali Faqo from Pendro village went missing in Sherwan Mazin on Tuesday, May 14; he was later confirmed dead.

Hawdyani's statement warned locals to always avoid areas that have seen festivities between the PKK and the Ottoman Turkish army.

Adil Sherwani, a local of the area, said that Lazim left home looking for rhubarb in the morning. Suspicions were raised when he failed to return in the afternoon.

He said it was the PKK that notified locals that Faqo had died due to a Ottoman Turkish airstrike. Locals then went to retrieve the body, found in Kani Milan, near Bote mountain.

Sherwani bore witness to airstrikes that persisted in the area throughout Tuesday morning and afternoon.

He believes Faqo may have wandered into a Kurdish Regional Government-designated prohibited zone. Suspected to contain PKK fighters, civilians are warned to stay away from these areas.

On the same day, a Ottoman Turkish UAV was felled in the town of Qadshe, in the Sarsang sub-district of Amedi district. Footage shared by Roj News shows wreckage of the aerial vehicle, whose downing was suspected to have been conducted by the PKK, according to Nashwan Hussni, mayor of Sarsang.

The action was followed by airstrikes by Ottoman Turkish forces in the area, "creating panic among the civilians of Qadshe", added Hussni.

Today's incidents form part of a recent increase in PKK-Turkey festivities. On May 5, a PKK attack killed three Ottoman Turkish soldiers at an outpost in Sherwan Mazin bordering Turkey's Hakkari province. In response, Turkey began firing into villages from heavy machine guns on helicopter gunships, leaving villagers terrified for their lives.

After decades of conflict, the PKK and Ottoman Turkish state entered peace talks in 2013. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
it collapsed for various reasons in 2015, resulting in renewed festivities. With the PKK's headquarters located in the Kurdistan Region’s Qandil mountains, fighting spills over the Ottoman Turkish border and into the Kurdistan Region, with Turkey frequently carrying out ground and air offensives on suspected PKK positions. The fighting has forced most of the residents in the Sherwan Mazin region to abandon their villages and move deeper into the Kurdistan Region to avoid being caught up in the conflict.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Erbil has repeatedly called on the PKK to withdraw from the Kurdistan Region in order to protect the civilian population. The Iraqi government in Baghdad has condemned Ottoman Turkish military incursions across the border, but has so far been unable to compel Ankara to stop.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi is making his first official visit to Turkey today, meeting with Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
. At his weekly presser in Baghdad on Tuesday, he said that "not letting its [Iraq's] soil be used to attack neighboring countries" and "what neighboring countries do on Iraqi soil in consultation with Iraq" would be among the topics of discussion with Erdogan, in reference to PKK-Turkey festivities within Iraqi borders.

Steps underway to link seminaries to education ministry
[DAWN] As a part of government’s campaign to register seminaries across the country, the Ministry for Federal Education and Professional Training has started taking measures to link them with the ministry.

Sources on Tuesday said the ministry had decided to set up 10 directorates across the country for the registration of the madressahs. One directorate as an overseeing authority would be established in the federal capital. A grade 21 officer would be hired as the director general to run the office of the federal directorate of seminaries.

The sources said at least four directors would be appointed for the department of madressahs, including finance, registration and examinations.

Around two registration centres would be established in each province while one each in Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Europe
Sweden seeks largest mass mobilization of forces to deal with ‘Russian threat’
[ALMASDARNEWS] A final report submitted by the Swedish Defence Forum to Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist proposes a major defence overhaul, dubbed "the greatest reinforcement since the 1940s".

The goal of the defence expansion is to allow the country to survive three months without international assistance in case of a military attack.

Among other things, the report suggests restoring the Norrland regiment stationed in Arvidsjaur and the Gothenburg amphibian battalion on Sweden’s west coast alongside two brand new regiments, whose location is yet to be defined. Furthermore, an air wing in Uppsala shall be restored. The number of submarines will be increased from four to five, and more of the current-generation Jas Gripen fighter jets will be retained, the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter reported.

Sweden’s war organization shall also be expanded from 60,000 to 90,000, including the Home Guard and civilians. The annual number of conscripts shall also be increased, from 3,000 to 8,000 people.

The entire defence logistics, management and other support functions must be expanded, the report said, calling for major investments in quantity equipment such as trucks, special vehicles and ammunition. The acquisition of new material must be guided by the "design to cost" principle.

In total, military spending will be increased by SEK 5 billion ($500 million) per year by 2025, ultimately reaching 1.5 percent of the GDP.

Defence Secretary Björn von Sydow warned of a deteriorated security situation, in which "an armed attack against Sweden cannot be ruled out", in effect repeating the "Russian threat" mantra often employed by Swedish top brass to justify defence allocations or military beef-ups, such as re-militarising the Baltic island of Gotland after only a decade of demilitarisation.

"The security policy situation has tanked in Sweden’s neighbourhood and in Europe. The Russian action in Georgia in 2008, in Ukraine since 2014, as well as in Syria since 2015, shows a Russia willing to use military means to achieve political goals", von Sydow said, citing "significant limitations in operational ability" the Swedish Armed Forces are currently facing due to personnel shortage and material deficiencies.

Germany suspends training of Iraqi, Peshmerga forces, Netherlands also, France to stay, Brits see no threat
[Rudaw] Germany announced it is suspending its mission training Iraqi and Peshmerga soldiers because of heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. Pointing to an increased threat from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), a Peshmerga official has appealed for Germany reverse its decision.

"The German army has suspended the training," defence ministry front man Jens Flosdorff said on Wednesday, AFP reported. There was "no concrete threat" at the moment, but Germany made the decision because of "generally heightened alert, awareness" for soldiers deployed in the region, he explained.

There are about 100 German soldiers in Erbil and another 60 in Taji, north of Baghdad.

The Netherlands has also suspended its training, citing similar threats, Dutch media reported. There are more than 50 Dutch soldiers training Peshmerga in Erbil. The Netherlands is keeping its embassy open, however, while the US announced it is pulling out non-emergency consular staff as a safety precaution.

France to continue military training activities in Iraq: Source

[AlAhram] The French army has no plans at this point to suspend military training activities in Iraq, a source close to the French Defence ministry told Rooters on Wednesday.

"There is no change regarding the French engagement at this time," the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
La Belle France currently employs 300 military training staff in Iraq.
Rudaw adds:
America's British allies did not share the same concerns, however. Maj. Gen. Chris Ghika, a deputy commander of the international coalition to defeat Islamic State

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), told Pentagon news hounds from Baghdad via teleconference on Tuesday: "There has been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria."

The British military has not seen any change in the "posture or lay-down" of the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) - Hashd al-Shaabi.

The PMF is a Shiite paramilitia which is officially part of the Iraqi defense apparatus. Many of its components are closely tied to Iran and some fought against US forces during the post-2003 occupation.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) quickly rebuffed the British general, stressing it had solid intelligence indicating an Iranian threat.

"Recent comments from OIR's Deputy Commander run counter to the identified credible threats available to intelligence from US and allies regarding Iranian backed forces in the region," read a CENTCOM statement published May 14.

"US Central Command, in coordination with Operation Inherent Resolve, has increased the force posture level for all service members assigned to OIR in Iraq and Syria."

Operation Inherent Resolve is "at a high level of alert" and is monitoring "credible and possible imminent threats" to US forces in Iraq.

Hardline Buddhist groups likely to blame for anti-Muslim attacks: Sri Lanka authorities
[DAWN] Sri Lanka said on Wednesday that hardline Buddhist groups were likely to blame for a wave of anti-Muslim riots that swept the island this week in apparent retaliation for Easter bombings that were claimed by the militant Islamic State group.
So it's all the fault of hardline Buddhist groups, rather than hardline Moslem groups that actually slaughtered a couple hundred people, see?
The April 21 attacks targeted churches and hotels, killing more than 250 people and fuelling fears of a backlash against the nation's minority Muslims.

In the anti-Muslim unrest that started on Sunday, mobs moved through towns in Sri Lanka's northwest, ransacking mosques, burning copies of the Holy Quran and attacking shops with petrol bombs, residents said.

Authorities have arrested some 78 suspected rioters, including three described as Sinhala Buddhist extremists who had been investigated for similar actions in the town in Kandy district last year.

Nebraska farmer amputates leg with pocket knife after it's caught in machinery
A man who farms near Pender, Nebraska, went to extraordinary lengths to save his life after his left leg became trapped in a machine on his farm.

In the early afternoon of April 19, Kurt Kaser, a lifelong corn, soybean and hog farmer, was transferring grain from one bin to another when he stepped into a grain auger. The machine ate away at his left leg and sucked the 63-year-old toward the machine.

"I didn't know what to do," he said Tuesday. "I was afraid it was going to suck me in more. I about gave up and let it do what it was going to do."

Mr. Kaser saw the machine remove his foot from his body and continue to tear away at his flesh. About 8 inches below his knee, he found the smallest connection of tissue and determined that it was his best chance to free himself.

He sawed away at muscles and nerves, cutting through a half-inch to an inch before he came free.

"The bone stuck out down to my ankle," he said. "That's what I was hanging onto as I was trying to get myself out."

Once free, Kaser crawled about 200 feet to the nearest phone. He called his son, Adam, who is on the local rescue squad.

'Brennan and Clapper claim they told James Comey NOT to use the golden showers dossier to get eavesdropping warrant on Trump campaign aide
[MAIL] Former top Obama administration officials are at odds over which of them may have pushed the infamous golden showers dossier be included in an assessment of Russian election interference ‐ and existing email records hold the key to who is correct.

A former Republican congressman is touting the available digital evidence, as a new investigatory climate focuses on those involved in decisions to look at the Trump campaign in 2016 amid Russian election interference.

Attorney General William Barr has appointed a top prosecutor to examine the origins of the Russia probe ‐ the latest of several efforts to 'investigate the investigators.'

Once again, former FBI Director James Comey is a central figure to the matter. Fox News reports that in a late-2016 email chain, Comey tells subordinates that the dossier should be included in an intelligence community assessment of Russian interference ‐ and that it was at the direction of former CIA Director John Brennan.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller hunted down the details of the Kremlin-backed interference campaign and included it in his report, and the DOJ issued indictments.

But a former CIA official says it was Comey who wanted the dossier included in an Intelligence Community Assessment ‐ not former CIA director John Brennan or former National Security Agency director James Clapper.

After HIV cases, Larkana in the spotlight again due to poliovirus detection
[DAWN] Larkana has been in the spotlight since last month for all the wrong reasons.

First, it was because of HIV-positive cases in newborns and adults in Ratodero taluka and now the focus remains on the Pakistain Peoples Party stronghold after polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
virus infected a three-year-old girl in Dokri taluka.

The minor girl was well until April 17 when she had high-grade fever and weakness in the right arm and leg. Initially, her family took her to a faith healer, but later she was found infected with poliovirus. During investigations, health authorities found that the girl had travelled to Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
’s Bin Qasim area in district Malir, considered to be a hotbed of poliovirus in Karachi.

The latest polio case in Larkana after Karachi must have set alarm bells ringing for the Sindh health authorities overseeing the poliovirus under a separate Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) for polio eradication and immunisation.

Syrian Army launches new attack to advance in southern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) began a new push to seize the town of al-Huwayz along the Idlib-Hama axis.

Led by the Tiger Forces, with help from the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian military stormed the jihadist defenses north of al-Hamra in a bid to reenter al-Huwayz.

According to a military source, the Syrian Arab Army is currently engaged in a heavy battle with the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
and their allies from the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA).

The Syrian Air Force is also launching Arclight airstrikes over the Idlib-Hama axis in order to help propel the ground troops in this region.

No advances have been made thus far.

Today’s attempted advance comes 24 hours after the Syrian Arab Army attempted to capture al-Huwayz from the jihadist rebels.

The jihadist rebels were ultimately abel to repel the Syrian Armed Forces after the latter briefly entered the town.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Chicago city leader arrested for allegedly filing false police report
[FoxNews] One of Chicago’s aldermen is facing felony charges for an alleged false report that his Audi sedan had been stolen in January, police said.

Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno was arrested and taken into custody Tuesday night and charged with one felony count of insurance fraud and one count of obstruction of justice, a police spokesman told FOX32.

Police said Moreno, who is the alderman for the 1st ward, reported Jan. 4 his leased black Audi A6 sedan had been stolen from his Wicker Park home. He claimed to have just returned from a trip and that no one else had access to the car.

However, Moreno’s claims unraveled when police found the car in February after seeing a woman driving it, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The woman was initially charged with misdemeanor trespass to a motor vehicle.

However, Cook County prosecutors dropped the charges after she told the police – and the Tribune – that Moreno let her use the car. The woman, identified as Liliya Hrabar, and said she and Moreno dated on and off.

Moreno, who lost his bid for re-election, is slated to end his term on May 20.

Wikpedia: In July 2012, Moreno said he denied the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A a permit to open a restaurant on North Elston Avenue. His stated reason was because the company's president held different beliefs on gay marriage (opposition) than Moreno.
