Manafort's ex-son-in-law cuts plea deal letting feds ask for help 'at any time': report
(Fox News) Ex-son-in-law of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort has cut a plea deal with the Justice Department that forces him to cooperate with other criminal probes, Reuters reported Thursday.

Jeffrey Yohai, a former business partner of Manafort who was married to his daughter until last August, has reportedly entered a guilty plea agreement with the DOJ. The existence of the deal wasn’t revealed until now as it remains under seal, the report said.

Yohai reportedly pleaded guilty to misusing construction loan funds and to a count involving a bank account overdraft. The deal lets the federal government to "ask for help at any time."

The agreement may cause legal problems for Manafort as he’s facing two indictments brought by special counsel Robert Mueller and his probe of alleged Russian government meddling in the 2016 presidential election and the collusion with Trump campaign.

Shots Fired at School
SANTA FE, Texas (KTRK) -- Law enforcement sources confirm to ABC13 at least 8 people are dead following a shooting inside Santa Fe High School.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says one suspect is in custody and a person of interest is detained. According to law enforcement agencies, it appears the shooter is a student.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says the death toll could rise to 10. Those killed include students and adults.

Santa Fe High School is on lockdown after a shooting inside the school. Witnesses say the shooting took place in an art class on campus between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m.

Santa Fe Police, Galveston County Sheriff's Office and ATF agents have all responded to the school at 16000 Highway 6. Students are being lined up outside the school, and their backpacks are being deposited for officials.

Life Flight was also called to the scene. There is no official confirmation of any injuries at this time, but there does appear to be a possible body under a sheet near an exit door.

Shooting incident reported at Santa Fe High School in Galveston County. We have @HCSOTexas units enroute to assist. Large police presence, please avoid the area. #hounews #lesm

A student tells ABC13 she saw a gunman shoot a girl. This is an unconfirmed report.

Sophomore Leila Butler tells ABC13 that at about 7:45 a.m. fire alarms went off and students left their classrooms. She reports some students believe they've heard shots fired. She is currently sheltering with other students and teachers near campus.
Update from the article at 4:50 pm EDT: 10 dead, mostly students, shooter Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, arrested.

What we know about the shooter: freshman football team, Greek Orthodox church dance troupe, guns apparently belonged legally to his father, explosive devices found in a house, in a car, and at the school.

#8  I read reports that a substitute pulled the fire alarm to get people out. Seems to me sending a crowd of kids into the hallways when the shooter had a sawed-off shot gun could have turned into a nightmare quickly.

Just a matter of time before a school shooter pulls the fire alarm and hits the crowd coming out the doors.

I hope schools have thought over this sort of thing.

#13  Weapons: Shotgun. 38 revolver. Belonged legally to the parents.

2 police resource officers there one critical wounded, and one random patroller. Status unknown. But apparently they were known and targeted.

So lefties, shut the F up about assault weapons, semiautomatic weapons, and gun control. Ankid with his dad's shotgun and a revolver did this. It's not the weapon. Its not the gun laws. Get that into your thick heads.

This is a school security problem. Limit access, arm and train staff on a voluntary basis for concealed carry. Single point of entry with an armed presence at all times.

Shotgun and handgun are superior at CQB and room clearing. I was wondering when one of these mad assassins would figure it out. AR15 wrong for CQB. The Florida used "assault weapons" and killed far fewer. Makes the entire Assault Weapons Ban irrelevant, and shows just how incorrect it was.

Joe DiGenova: Frustrated President May Fire 'Clowns' Sessions and Rosenstein
[PJ] Attorney Joe diGenova predicted that both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions' days are numbered at the Department of Justice during a telephone interview with Newsmax's Howie Carr Wednesday. DiGenova's claim came after the New York Times published a report titled "Code Name Crossfire Hurricane: The Secret Origins of the Trump Investigation". The report has been interpreted by many as an attempt by sources within the "Deep State" to cushion the blow of the imminent DOJ inspector general report, which is expected to be explosive.

In March, President Trump considered adding diGenova and his wife Victoria Toensing to his legal team, but conflicts of interest reportedly prevented him from hiring them. The attorney is still in contact with Trump, and told Carr that "the president has had it up to his scuppers with these clowns."

Buried deep within the NYT report is the bombshell revelation that Obama's FBI spied on the Trump campaign with covert "informants" (read "spies," or "moles") and electronic surveillance during the 2016 election. Also, contrary to the NYT's previous reporting, the article revealed that the spying did not begin with either Carter Page's interactions with Russians or George Papadopoulos's drunken conversation with Australian ambassador Alexander Downer in London. The spying began before that.

Man arrested after firing shots at Trump golf club
[FoxNews] A man shouting about Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
entered the president's south Florida golf resort early Friday, draped an American flag over a lobby counter and exchanged fire with police before being tossed in the clink
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
, police said.

One officer received an unspecified injury, officials said.

Police were notified of an "active shooter" in the Trump-owned Trump National Doral Golf Club near Miami about 1:30 a.m., Doral Police Chief Hernan Organvidez told news news hounds. He said officers from Doral and Miami-Dade confronted him immediately and exchanged gunfire with the man who was "neutralized" and taken into custody.

Officials did not immediately say if the man was maimed.

Trump was not at the club at the time.

"You know, these officers did not hesitate one second to engage this individual that was actively shooting in the lobby of the hotel," Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said. "They risked their lives knowing that that they had to get in there to save lives in that hotel."

Perez said the Secret Service was on the scene, and the FBI was on the way, but that local police were in charge for the time being.

Britain
Doctors Rip Claim Abortions Needed for ‘Mental Health'
[Breitbart] Irish psychiatrists are condemning the claim that the repeal of Ireland’s Eighth Amendment prohibiting most abortions is necessary for women’s mental health.
"To use ’health’ as a justification for abortion, when the vast majority of abortions do not take place on any kind of health ground, inverts the true purpose of medicine and doctors who value their calling should have nothing to do with this," write 24 Irish psychiatrists in a letter regarding the upcoming referendum on the amendment. "Our Minister for Health, for his part, must defend the true purpose of medicine."

The doctors get immediately to the core of the way in which the Left uses media to advance its narrative in the area of abortion.

The New American Aristocracy
h/t Instapundit
...I’ve joined a new aristocracy now, even if we still call ourselves meritocratic winners. If you are a typical reader of The Atlantic, you may well be a member too. (And if you’re not a member, my hope is that you will find the story of this new class even more interesting‐if also more alarming.) To be sure, there is a lot to admire about my new group, which I’ll call‐for reasons you’ll soon see‐the 9.9 percent. We’ve dropped the old dress codes, put our faith in facts, and are (somewhat) more varied in skin tone and ethnicity. People like me, who have waning memories of life in an earlier ruling caste, are the exception, not the rule.

By any sociological or financial measure, it’s good to be us. It’s even better to be our kids. In our health, family life, friendship networks, and level of education, not to mention money, we are crushing the competition below. But we do have a blind spot, and it is located right in the center of the mirror: We seem to be the last to notice just how rapidly we’ve morphed, or what we’ve morphed into.

The meritocratic class has mastered the old trick of consolidating wealth and passing privilege along at the expense of other people’s children. We are not innocent bystanders to the growing concentration of wealth in our time. We are the principal accomplices in a process that is slowly strangling the economy, destabilizing American politics, and eroding democracy. Our delusions of merit now prevent us from recognizing the nature of the problem that our emergence as a class represents. We tend to think that the victims of our success are just the people excluded from the club. But history shows quite clearly that, in the kind of game we’re playing, everybody loses badly in the end.

...It is in fact the top 0.1 percent who have been the big winners in the growing concentration of wealth over the past half century. According to the UC Berkeley economists Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman, the 160,000 or so households in that group held 22 percent of America’s wealth in 2012, up from 10 percent in 1963. If you’re looking for the kind of money that can buy elections, you’ll find it inside the top 0.1 percent alone.

...Every piece of the pie picked up by the 0.1 percent, in relative terms, had to come from the people below. But not everyone in the 99.9 percent gave up a slice. Only those in the bottom 90 percent did. At their peak, in the mid-1980s, people in this group held 35 percent of the nation’s wealth. Three decades later that had fallen 12 points‐exactly as much as the wealth of the 0.1 percent rose.

In between the top 0.1 percent and the bottom 90 percent is a group that has been doing just fine. It has held on to its share of a growing pie decade after decade. And as a group, it owns substantially more wealth than do the other two combined. In the tale of three classes (see Figure 1), it is represented by the gold line floating high and steady while the other two duke it out. You’ll find the new aristocracy there. We are the 9.9 percent.

So what kind of characters are we, the 9.9 percent? We are mostly not like those flamboyant political manipulators from the 0.1 percent. We’re a well-behaved, flannel-suited crowd of lawyers, doctors, dentists, mid-level investment bankers, M.B.A.s with opaque job titles, and assorted other professionals‐the kind of people you might invite to dinner. In fact, we’re so self-effacing, we deny our own existence. We keep insisting that we’re "middle class."

...One of the hazards of life in the 9.9 percent is that our necks get stuck in the upward position. We gaze upon the 0.1 percent with a mixture of awe, envy, and eagerness to obey. As a consequence, we are missing the other big story of our time. We have left the 90 percent in the dust‐and we’ve been quietly tossing down roadblocks behind us to make sure that they never catch up.

a comment on the "Palestinian" doctors who got shot:

What about Palestinian “doctors” who are members of Hamas’s fighting wing, gorb? Or its politburo? Fifty of the 60 shot dead on Monday were Hamasniks according to Hamas, with three more members of Islamic Jihad. The photojournalist shot on the first day of this thing was, as I recall, eventually revealed to be an active member of Hamas, which had supported his education and provided his legitimate credentials as employed by a Hamas newspaper.

Britain
Job hopes of 4 million Brits hit by an ‘unlimited' pool of EU migrants who are willing to work for low wages
[MAIL] Up to 4 million British people cannot get the work they want because of cheap foreign labour, a report has claimed.

MigrationWatch said businesses were ‘getting away’ with insisting they could not recruit local workers because they had a ‘virtually unlimited’ pool of low-paid EU migrants.

A paper by the think-tank said there were about 1.5 million Britons looking for jobs and another million who worked part-time but struggled to find full-time employment.

But official figures did not take into account those who wanted to increase their hours, for instance boosting their time at work from 16 to 20 hours, or who were looking for a second job to top up their income.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
5 Things Most Men Have to Learn the Hard Way in Life
[PJ] I do not envy young men in our society. A lot of them grow up without strong male role models. They’re shoved through an education that treats them like defective girls and they come out of that into a world that incessantly feeds them mixed messages. Be chivalrous... chivalry is sexism that means you think women are inferior! Women love strong alpha males... women want men to be sensitive and emotional. It’s your job to take care of and provide for your family... men are expected to do whatever their wife tells them to do, etc., etc., etc. There are so many of these that I could do a whole article on it (Mental note: Do whole article on the contradictory messages men get from society.) There are so many things you have to learn the hard way that I have a whole book on that topic, but here are a few of the most important lessons just for the guys.

1) The extent that she's a father-hater.
2) The extent she has bought into feminist ideology (go South of the Mason Dixon line and carry on West to Oklahoma). There's better prospects in this population.
3) If her biological clock is ticking and she's over 35 - you can be hit with child support payments for 18 years.

Wives have infinite memories. You are likely to be reminded of this...often. You may get into an argument with the wife and think you have temporarily won the battle but in the long run you have lost the war. Sometimes it is good to be humble and eat a little crow. Sometimes "I'm sorry" will mend a lot of fences. At the end of the day, try not to go to bed angry. Forgiving someone is a blessing to all.

Meanwhile, they were still garnishing his paychecks. He finally decided paying the Dangeld was cheaper... Justice, American style.

Egypt to keep Rafah border crossing open during Ramadan to ease burdens on brothers in Gaza: Sisi
Happy hunting to the Egyptian forces, I guess, and good luck.
[AlAhram] Egypt president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has ordered on Thursday to keep the Rafah border crossing with the Gazoo Strip open during the whole month of Ramadan.

"I issued my directions to the concerned apparatuses to take the necessary measures to maintain the opening of the Rafah border crossing throughout the holy month of Ramadan in order to ensure the easing of the burdens on the brothers in the Gazoo Strip," El-Sisi said in a tweet on Thursday evening.

Last Saturday, Egypt had opened the border for traffic in both directions with the intention of keeping it open for four days.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
on Monday, the authorities decided to extend the opening to provide humanitarian aid to the Paleostinians after the killing of at dozens of civilians by the Israeli occupation army during protests in Gazoo against the transfer of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

The Rafah border crossing is the main gateway to the outside world for 1.8 million Paleostinians living in the Israeli-besieged Gazoo Strip, and is the only crossing point not controlled by Israel.

There is a hidden inclination to divide Yemen: Ahmad al-Sayyad

The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

So are many Yemenis...
In an interview on Wednesday, Ahmad al-Sayyad, ambassador and head of Yemen's permanent delegation to the Gay Paree-based UNESCO, said "there is synergy between the roles of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. There is a hidden inclination to divide Yemen".

Al-Sayyad's comments come after a crisis over the island of Socotra, southwest of Yemen.

The UAE deployed 300 soldiers, along with tanks and artillery, to the famed UNESCO World Heritage Site at the beginning of May.

The report further adds that Yasir planned and facilitated IS-K attacks against Afghan cops and civilians in Kabul and along Highway 7, the main corridor for travel from Nangarhar to the Afghan capital.

"Afghan and U.S. Special Operations Forces conduct persistent offensive operations to deny IS-K their stated goal of a caliphate in southeastern Nangarhar," the report adds.

This comes as the terror grabbed credit behind the a string of deadly attacks in capital Kabul that left scores of people dead or maimed.

The most recent attack claimed by the terror group was a coordinated raid on a cop shoppe in the 13th police district of the city in West of Kabul.

Syrian military hands strategic southern Aleppo town to Russia after Astana Conference
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has handed over the town of al-Hader in southern Aleppo to the Russian military, per the recent Astana Peace Conference agreement.

According to a military source in Aleppo, the Russian military police took over al-Hader in order alleviate tensions between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Ottoman Turkish military in the Aleppo Governorate.

The Syrian Army has officially withdrawn from al-Hader to the nearby mountaintop in Jabal Azzan.
From which, no doubt, they will be able to rain down artillery on the Turks below, as once a upon a time they used to do to the Jews from the Golan Heights.
This move by the Syrian Army and Russian military police comes just hours afterthe Ottoman Turkish Army established a new observation point in western Idlib.

Sources from the Syrian Army added that the Russian military police in the area are planning to take over several other front-lines points near the Ottoman Turkish military’s lines.

Palestinian FM condemns ‘bloody racist massacre’ in Gaza
Foreign Minister should be in sarcasm quotes, as non-countries can only have pretend diplomats playing at diplomacy.
[ALMASDARNEWS] Paleostinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki condemned the violence occurring along the border between Israel and Gazoo, calling it "a bloody racist massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces in cold blood against our defenceless people," while at a meeting of the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
in Cairo on Thursday.

Al-Maliki also called on Arab League members to "abide by the resolutions of the Arab summits, including the decisions taken at the Amman Summit in 1980, when it was called to freeze relations with each country that transfers its embassy to Jerusalem.

Despite our understanding of the developments of Arab relations with the United States and its complexity now, we are asking the Arab nations to call their ambassadors for consultations and to show the Arab rejection of the American bias towards Israel."

Secretary General of the vaporous Arab League Ahmed Abu al-Gheit likewise condemned the move of Guatemala, who also moved their embassy to Jerusalem.

"We condemn and refuse the actions of the Republic of Guatemala yesterday to transfer its embassy to Jerusalem and affirm that the Arab relations with it and with other countries that may submit a similar step should be reconsidered and reviewed." al-Gheit said.

Afghanistan
Afghan Air Force video shows precision bombings on Taliban positions
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A new video of the Afghan Air Force shows the compilation of a series of precision airstrikes carried out with the help of the laser-guided bombs.

According to the coalition forces in Afghanistan, the Afghan Air Force pilots have been dropping laser guided bombs on enemy targets throughout the southern half of Afghanistan since March 22, 2018.

This precision strike capability limits the adversaries ability to use densely populated areas for sanctuary and helps to prevent civilian casualties.

The Afghan Air Force for the first time used the bomb to target a Taliban compound in Farah province last month.

“On March 22, the Afghan Air Force tasked the A-29 squadron to destroy a Taliban compound in Farah. The Afghan attack pilots were equipped with both guided and unguided bombs, and elected to employ the GBU-58 laser-guided bomb to avoid collateral damage,” according to a report by Resolute Support Mission.

This comes as efforts are underway to boost the capabilities of the Afghan armed forces, particularly the Air Forces.

“Key pieces that you’re seeing is that the Afghan Air Force itself, one of the more lethal organizations they have, and one that we’re looking to triple in size by 2023, is conducting significantly more air operations in direct support of the ANDSF on the battlefield, to the tune of 500 more sorties this year than they did the year before,” said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Lance Bunch, director of future operations, Resolute Support, in a December 2017 press conference.

Turkey fully blocks Syrian Army’s path to Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish military has fully blocked the Syrian Arab Army’s path to Idlib after they established several observation posts around the province.

According to a recent report from the Astana Peace Conference, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
and Russia have agreed to allow the latter to construct an observation point around the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
held areas in Jisr al-Shughour and the al-Ghaab Plain.

Not long after the agreement, the Ottoman Turkish military not only visited these areas, but also, established new observation points to block the Syrian Army’s future offensives.

In early April, a preliminary agreement was put in place that would allow the Syrian Army and Russian military to attack and fully capture Jisr al-Shughour, northeast Latakia, the al-Ghaab Plain.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
Turkey would later renege on this deal, as the Syrian and Russian forces were amassing troops in northern Latakia for the upcoming assault.

"Currently the most important issue is for the ceasefire not be violated in Syria. If this is achieved, political settlement will become closer. There are many fragmented terror groups. Our intelligence service and the General Staff are dealing with the matter. We have achieved certain results. If the Syrian regime launches an attack tomorrow under the pretext of fighting against terrorists, it will be a catastrophe. This is why we are monitoring the situation and have established our observation posts," Cavusoglu told the TRT TV channel.

The foreign minister also accused Damascus of delaying the establishment of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, which had been agreed upon during the Syrian National Dialogue Congress that took place in January in the Russian city of Sochi.

"We have submitted our list of candidates to the Committee members, but the [Syrian] regime has not yet provided one of its own. Our Astana [grinding of the peace processor] partners, [Russia and Iran], say that they cannot force, convince it. But it has to be forced! It turns out that the regime does not want any solution," the minister stated.

Cavusoglu has urged Russia and Iran to convince Damascus to accelerate the negotiation process on Syria in Geneva. He also noted that the Astana talks were more fruitful.

As part of the Astana talks last year, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
, Russia and Iran, which are the Syrian ceasefire guarantor states, agreed to establish four de-escalation zones in the country.

US Forces Accused Of Complicity In Somalia Raid That Left Five Civilians Dead
[RADIOSHABELLE] US special forces have been accused of complicity in the deaths of civilians after five ungunnies were killed during a raid by Somali troops last week that they "aided and assisted".

The casualties were described as banana farmers by local inhabitants, and appear to have been shot while trying to flee the site of the operation, which officials say targeted commanders of the al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
holy warrior group.

Somali intelligence officials say three men detained in the raid on a village in the Lower Shabelle region were senior myrmidons.

Mohammed Sheikh Mohamud, a farmer in the village of Ma’alinka, 37 miles south of Mogadishu, told the Guardian the operation started at about 1am last Thursday when "forces came down from a helicopter and started shooting the people in the farm".

Mohamud said he knew the five men killed. Two were tractor drivers at a banana farm, and three were cattle farmers.

Anisa Abdullahi, a mortuary attendant who inspected the bodies when they were brought into the Medina hospital in Mogadishu the day after the raid, said four of the men died from fatal bullet wounds to the back and one was killed by a wound to the chest.

"After checking, we found all died because of gun shots. The type of the weapon is one type, as the wound holes have similar sizes," Anisa Abdullahi told the Guardian.

There are no accounts of any sustained resistance to the special forces during the raid. Four Somali security officials and a senior officer with the Amisom regional force based in Mogadishu said they did not believe any weapons had been seized during the operation.

A second resident in the area said he just left the farm when he heard the first shot.

"It was past midnight and all was peaceful when the shooting began. Nobody fired at them as the people there were not armed. They shot the victims from close range and killed them," said Hassan Muhidin, a farmer.

Inspector General Will Declare FBI, DOJ Broke Law in Clinton Email Probe
Wouldn’t that be something!
[Breitbart] A new report suggests an imminent Inspector General (IG) report may rule that FBI and Justice Department officials broke the law in their handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

Investigative reporter Paul Sperry said Thursday that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz has "found ’reasonable grounds’ for believing there has been a violation of federal criminal law in the FBI/DOJ’s handling of the Clinton investigation/s," adding that the top watchdog official has "referred his findings of potential criminal misconduct to Huber for possible criminal prosecution."

In response to growing calls for a second special counsel to probe the Clinton email probe, along with FISA abuses that took place during the 2016 election, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in March the appointment of Utah’s top federal prosecutor, John Huber, to probe potential wrongdoing.

It was revealed this week that the Inspector General’s highly-anticipated report was submitted for review.

"Those invited to review the report were told they would have to sign nondisclosure agreements in order to read it, people familiar with the matter said. They are expected to have a few days to craft a response to any criticism in the report, which will then be incorporated in the final version to be released in coming weeks," the Wall Street Journal reported.

Multiple reports suggest the report will be made public by the end of May.

Burundians vote in referendum on letting president rule until 2034
[PRESSTV] Burundians voted Thursday in a referendum on constitutional reforms that, if passed, will shore up the power of President Pierre Nkurunziza and enable him to rule until 2034.

Police, soldiers and armored vehicles were out in force for the referendum, which comes three years after Nkurunziza sought a controversial third term, triggering a political crisis that has killed 1,200 and forced 400,000 from their homes.

"Long lines have been seen at the opening of polling stations in Bujumbura. Burundian citizens were impatient to go and vote," presidential front man Willy Nyamitwe wrote on Twitter.

An AFP photographer also reported hundreds of people at polling stations in northern Burundi, asked simply to vote "yes" or "no" in the "referendum of May 2018" with no question posed on the ballot.

"I came at dawn because I was impatient to vote 'yes' to consolidate the independence and illusory sovereignty of our country," said a farmer, who gave his name only as Miburo, in the town of Ngozi.

Nkurunziza, dressed in an Adidas tracksuit and orange bush hat with a chin strap, queued from 6:00 am (0400 GMT) to cast his ballot, praising people for turning out "en masse".

Putin, Assad declare Syria ready for political process
[PRESSTV] Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
has told his Syrian counterpart that the situation in Syria is now favorable for the beginning of a "political process."

In a rare meeting with the visiting Syrian head of state in Russia's southern city of Sochi on Thursday, Putin said recent victories against terrorist groups in Syria paved the ground for the withdrawal of foreign forces.

"After the military success (of the Syrian army in recent months), supplementary conditions have been created which favor the start of a political process on a major scale," Putin said in a statement after the meeting.

Assad welcomed the idea and said Damascus was resolved to pursue the political process in tandem with its military efforts.

"Stability is improving, and all that opens the doors to the political process, which we started a while ago," Assad told Putin, according to a transcript posted on the Kremlin's website.

"I have always said, and I repeat it again, that we have always wholeheartedly supported the political process, which should proceed in parallel with the war on terrorism," he added.

[CNN] Stephen Paddock
...the semi-divorced, brilliant retired accountant on anti-anxiety meds who collected a bunch of guns and bump stocks, found a hotel room overlooking a country music festival after checking out several other mass murder opportunities around the country, and shot it up last October for a grand total of 58 dead and over 400 wounded. Oddly enough, his father was an FBI-wanted psychopath...
kept his hotel room clean but made a housekeeper uneasy when she tidied up in the days before the gunman slaughtered 58 people in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

These are among the details -- some mundane, others chilling -- of Paddock's interactions with hotel staff and casino employees in new documents that police released about the October massacre at an outdoor Las Vegas concert.

About 1,200 pages of witness interviews were made public, including statements from victims after the shooting and others who encountered Paddock before he opened fire from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Denmark pulls back special forces from Iraq: ministry
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Denmark said Thursday it had pulled its special forces from Iraq after participating in the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State

since 2014, saying it was changing the mission of troops.

"As the vast majority of ISIS-controlled areas in Iraq are now freed, changes will be made to military action," said the defense ministry on its website. "Our special operations forces return home after a successful effort. Your Iraqi partner unit is now ready to stand on your own".
Fair enough. Here’s hoping they won’t be needed for similar operations at home in the near future.
Praising the contribution of its forces to the coalition’s war against the krazed killer group in Iraq, the defense ministry said "now we have reached a point where we can start the resettlement of our special operations forces because ISIS no longer has control over major areas in Iraq".

It, however, pointed that "it is important to emphasize that the fight against ISIS has not yet ended", adding that "the Danish side will continue to be engaged in the fight against ISIS in order to prevent the terrorist group from returning and to help the Iraqi security forces themselves to take care of security in their own country".

The Danish forces provided air support and training for Iraqi forces at the border regions with Syria.

Late April, the international coalition said it ended the operations of its land component, shifting to training and consultancy role to Iraqi troops. Iraq said in December it seized back all territories occupied by IS since 2014.

Bosnia rejects extradition request for alleged killer of Hamas engineer
[IsraelTimes] Court rules man wanted by Tunisia for suspected role in Mohammed Zouari's killing cannot be extradited as there is no treaty between the countries

A Bosnian court on Thursday rejected a request from Tunisia to extradite a man wanted for his alleged involvement in the killing of a Tunisian engineer who was claimed by the Paleostinian terror group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, as a member.

The court ruled that Elvir Sarac, who the judge said is accused by Tunisia of "instigating terrorist acts and of membership of a terrorist organization, as well as of harming public order and international security," could not be sent to Tunisia as there is no extradition treaty between the countries, Rooters reported.

Sarac, a Tunisian citizen was jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
last week on an Interpol warrant, is one of two Bosnian nationals wanted by Tunisia for their alleged role in killing of Mohammed Zouari.

The other suspect has been identified as Alen Camdzic, who was arrested in Croatia in March. A Croatian court approved his extradition earlier this month, though the ruling is subject to appeal to the country’s Supreme Court.

Zouari, a dual citizen of Tunisia and Belgium, was killed in a hail of bullets outside his house in Tunisia’s second city Sfax in December 2016.

Shortly after his death, Hamas said he was a drone expert who had worked for the "resistance" for a decade before being killed by "Zionist treachery."

Israel refuses to respond to the allegations.

Israel was also accused of being behind the liquidation last month in Malaysia of Fadi al-Batsh, a Hamas scientist who was said to be a rocket-making expert. Family and friends of Batsh accused Israel’s Mossad spy agency of carrying out the killing in Kuala Lumpur on April 21.

No plans to cut back US-South Korea drills: Pentagon
[AlAhram] The Pentagon is not considering cutting back the joint US-South Korean military exercises that have drawn angry condemnation from Pyongyang ahead of a planned US-North Korea summit, an official said Thursday.

"There's been no talk of reducing anything. There's been no talk of changing our scope," Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said.

The exercises "are defensive in nature and the scope hasn't changed ... This is about safeguarding the alliance," she added.

US demanded N. Korea ship some nuclear warheads, ICBM abroad within 6 months
[Ynet] The United Stated has demanded North Korea ship some nuclear warheads, an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and other nuclear material overseas within six months, the Asahi newspaper said on Thursday, citing several sources familiar with North Korean issues.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also appeared to have told North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un

, when they met earlier this month, that Washington might remove Pyongyang from a list of state sponsors of terrorism if the North ships out those nuclear items, the Asahi said.

If Pyongyang agrees to complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization at a planned summit with the United States on June 12, Washington is considering giving guarantees for Kim's regime and including that stance in a joint statement by the two leaders, the newspaper report said.

Gas, fuel supply to Gaza resumed after Palestinians sabotaged crossing for third time
[Ynet] After repairs made to Kerem Shalom border crossing, which Paleostinian rioters set ablaze on 3 different occasions, supply of cooking gas and diesel fuel expected to resume on Monday; 12 tanks of diesel, 1 tank of gas transferred into strip on Thursday in trial run.
I do hope Hamas will be made to pay for the cost of repairs after operatives were seen directing the destroyers. After all, Israeli taxpayers and Israeli soldiers have already had to pay for preventing Hamas’s planned invasion over nearly two months, not to mention the cost of burnt crops and forests.
Israel partially renewed the supply of gas and fuel to the Gazoo Strip through the Kerem Shalom border crossing on Thursday after it was repeatedly set ablaze by Paleostinian rioters.

The Border Crossings Authority, in conjunction with the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories and the District Coordination and Liaison in the Gazoo Strip, resumed the transfer of cooking gas and diesel fuel into the strip.

Paleostinian rioters sabotaged the crossing, the only one for the transfer of goods from Israel to Gazoo, on three different occasions over the past two weeks.

In the latest incident on Monday evening, fuel pipelines and the quarry materials depot were damaged. Before that on Friday, a fuel complex and a conveyor belt were vandalized. On the Friday before that, rioters sabotaged gas and fuel pipelines. The damage from the first two attacks alone was estimated at over $9 million.
And the third? Since there’s been no mention of an estimate that I’ve noticed, one assumes it will be a similar ghastly amount.
Repair work for the pipelines has been completed, with the system expected to partially resume operations after the Shavuot holiday, which takes place on Sunday.

Twelve tanks of diesel fuel and one tank of gas were transferred into the strip on Thursday to test the repaired system. If no leaks are found, the supply of fuel and gas will continue on Monday.

Donald Trump Suggests China Behind North Korea's Backtrack on Kim Jong-un Meeting
[Breitbart] President Donald Trump suggested that China was behind North Korea’s threat to cancel a meeting with Kim Jong-un, in remarks to reporters on Thursday.

"President Xi could be influencing Kim Jong-un," Trump said, pointing out that the North Korean dictator signaled a willingness to work for peace and meet with him before visiting China for the second time.

North Korea reported that the nation’s senior diplomats threatened to cancel scheduled high-level talks with South Korean counterparts as a result of ongoing military exercises with the United States.

Trump repeated that he had not heard specifically from North Korean officials, asserting that he only knew what he had read in the news.

were detained by the FBI on July 2016 for aiding and abetting the Islamic State from July 2015 to July 2016, the report added.

In July 2016, it was reported that Jackson drove Hubbard to Miami International Airport in order for him to fly to Germany and then The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, where he would later join ISIS after crossing over into Syria.

A few days later, the detainees were charged. In April last year, Christian and Jackson pleaded guilty to participation in the conspiracy.

"Hubbard was given the recommended sentence of 12 years in prison, after which he will be under surveillance during his lifetime," the US Justice Department reporte.

Christian and Jackson, who pleaded guilty in 2017 and provided significant assistance to the investigation, received eight and four years of imprisonment respectively, "- said in a statement posted on the ministry’s website.

After the release, Christian and Jackson will be under the supervision of the authorities for another five years.

Turkey to arrest 101 soldiers over alleged links to coup attempt
[Al Jazeera] Ottoman Turkish prosecutors issued arrest warrants for 101 members of the air force, including one general and several colonels, over suspected links to the organization of a religious leader blamed for the 2016 coup attempt, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

Thirty-three military personnel were taken into custody on Thursday, the Hurriyet daily said, adding that the investigation launched by prosecutors in Ankara spread across 21 other provinces.

Ankara blames the movement of Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, a US-based self-exiled religious leader, for the attempt to take over the government. He denies any involvement.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
has been under a state of emergency since July 2016 after about 300 people were killed during the failed coup.

Trump administration to provide records on Obama-era gun-smuggling probe
[Al-Rooters] The U.S. Justice Department has agreed to provide congressional investigators confidential records on a failed gun-trafficking operation during the Obama administration known as "Fast and Furious" that long has been criticized by Republican lawmakers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the Justice Department would hand over documents to the Republican-led House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform that had been withheld by Democratic former President Barack Obama's administration.

The agreement reached by Republican President Donald Trump's administration will effectively end a six-year long legal battle in which the committee had gone to federal court to try to enforce a subpoena it had issued to obtain the records.

Congressional Republicans have been pressing the Justice Department for years about the operation. Named after a movie about car racing, the operation sought to curb gun-trafficking criminals who were selling weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

In June 2012, the Republican-led House voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder, an Obama appointee, in contempt for failing to turn over documents about the operation. The committee sued Holder for access to the documents in August 2012. Obama asserted executive privilege to block the disclosure of the documents.

Democrats at the time accused Republicans of engaging in a partisan witch hunt.

In an effort to build bigger cases against major gun traffickers who were selling arms to Mexican cartels, U.S. law enforcement officials elected not to prosecute lower-level offenders transporting more than 2,000 illegal guns.

The operation and its flaws became public after two of those firearms were found in Arizona at the scene of a fatal shooting of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

In September 2012, the Justice Department's inspector general released a report faulting 12 department employees for failures related to the operation. The report vindicated Holder, concluding he neither conceived the operation nor attempted a cover-up.

Holder, now a partner at the law firm Covington and Burling LLP, could not be immediately reached at his office on Wednesday.

The U.S. Takes Aim at Russia With a Resurrected Navy Fleet
by James Stavridis
A taste:
[Bloomberg] In yet another indication of the return of great power politics and the cratering U.S.-Russian relationship, the Defense Department announced last week the return of the historic and venerable Second Fleet, which has traditionally guarded the Atlantic approaches to the continental U.S.

The fleet was disestablished in 2011 in an attempt to save money and free up funding for new ship construction. That decision proved shortsighted. The revamped command will have nearly 300 officers and enlisted men and women, and will take on responsibility for training the Atlantic Fleet and, more importantly, conducting real-world operations to track potentially hostile vessels approaching the U.S. coasts.

What does the return of the Second Fleet say about America’s maritime strategy and relations with a resurgent Russia?

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the U.S. drew down the overall size of the Atlantic Fleet, correctly believing that the Russian Federation did not pose the kind of threat represented by the old Soviet Union. Fast forward to rule of Vladimir Putin, who has rebuilt the Russian Fleet — especially its undersea forces. In his recent “weapons video,” he showed many new weapons that could be launched from the Atlantic against the American mainland and sea defenses, including hypersonic cruise missiles and nuclear-powered undersea torpedoes.

Whether those are actually operational weapons is still unclear, but the malign intent is hard to overlook. As the recent National Security Strategy and the follow-on National Defense Strategy point out, “great power politics” is back.

Second, the return of Second Fleet helps re-energize NATO as a maritime force in the Atlantic. While I was supreme allied commander at NATO, the former NATO Atlantic Command, or Saclant, had atrophied into a test bed for innovation and training and was a shadow of its former self. Alongside the return of Second Fleet, NATO has announced a new Atlantic Command as well, which will be embedded within the larger Second Fleet.

Both will be based in Norfolk, Virginia, and the efficiencies of combining them will allow far better allied participation in U.S. military efforts in the Atlantic Ocean. Look for British, French, German, Italian, Spanish and other advanced warships from Europe to be calling in U.S. ports and operating extensively with our forces from the Arctic down to the Caribbean and well into the deep Atlantic. Both commands will be headed up by a single 3-star vice admiral, with staff officers from across the 29 nations of the NATO alliance.

Third, the new Second Fleet/NATO command will be responsible for specific operations to thwart Russian attempts to dominate the northern portions of the Atlantic.

This means conducting broad area surveillance, including the use of oversea long-dwell drones; deploying manned maritime patrol aircraft such as Boeing’s new P-8 Poseidon to track Russian submarines; using undersea monitoring systems, which are essentially listening posts on the deep seabed; undertaking at-sea combat training exercises with destroyers, cruisers and aircraft carriers; and integrating land-based air on both sides of the Atlantic from their homes in the U.S., U.K. and Iceland. There will also be extensive operations under the surface of the sea by nuclear and diesel submarines, especially in the Arctic Ocean.

All of this means more tension closer to U.S. shores. Alongside the dangerous military operations in Syria, where U.S. and Russian forces are literally within rifle shot of each other, the waters of the North Atlantic will become a zone of serious potential conflict.

Mexico lashes out at Trump for 'animal' comment
[PRESSTV] Mexico has blasted US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
for calling some illegal immigrants colonists "animals," pledging to file a complaint against the "unacceptable" choice of language.
*Snicker* Honestly, wouldn’t the cut direct be more appropriate, now that duelling has been given up as barbarous? Though to be fair, completely ignoring the existence of America and its current president might be a bit difficult for those living next door and depending on remittences sent home by the excess population sent north for the purpose..
Trump triggered a wave of criticism on Wednesday when he made the remark during a round-table discussion about Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,’s immigration laws on Wednesday.

"We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in, and we’re stopping a lot of them, but we’re taking people out of the country. You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals," Trump told local and state officials who supported his crackdown on immigration.
Wasn’t he talking about MS-13, the extra vicius narco-gangsters?
Mexico’s government took issue with the remark, with Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray announcing that he would be filing a formal complaint with the US State Department over the remarks.
“I have been instructed to thank you for your communication and to immediately file it in the official State Department Circular File directly under my desk. Sign here, please, senor.”
"President Trump referred to some immigrants colonists -- perhaps he had criminal gangs in mind, I don’t know
Ah. Then you are aware that he was talking about MS-13, and are just being pissy.
-- as animals, not as persons," Videgaray told local TV station Televisa on Thursday. "In the opinion of the Mexican government, this is absolutely unacceptable and we are going to formally communicate this to the US State Department today."

Trump remained unapologetic in light of the criticism, however, saying later on Thursday that his remarks had been taken out of context.

Countries not meeting NATO obligations will be 'dealt with': Trump
[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said on Thursday that NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
members that do not contribute fully to the group would be "dealt with," and singled out Germany as a country he said was not doing enough.

At a Cabinet meeting attended by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, Trump listed countries he said had paid the amount "they're supposed to be paying."

"We have some that don't and, well, they'll be dealt with," Trump said.

He added Germany "has not contributed what it should be contributing and it's a very big beneficiary."

"In particular Germany must demonstrate leadership in the alliance by addressing its longstanding shortfall in defense contributions," Trump said.

Despite often disagreeing with Trump in other areas, German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
agrees that Germany should contribute more and wants her country to boost military spending to meet the NATO target of 2 percent. She told senior military officers on Monday more spending is needed in light of changing security requirements in the world.

Stoltenberg praised Trump's work on shoring up NATO, whose continued purpose Trump questioned while campaigning in the 2016 election.

Pakistan kills wanted senior rebel commander
More on yesterday's story.
[Al Jazeera] The Mighty Pak Army announced it killed a senior member of the rebel group Laskhar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in a raid in the province of Balochistan...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
A senior military intelligence officer was killed and four soldiers were maimed on Thursday during the operation targeting Salman Baldeni, Balochistan regional chief of LeJ in the thriving provincial capital, Quetta.

According to the army, Baldeni was "involved in the killing of over 100 innocent personnel of the Hazara

community".

A front man for the group said Baldeni was no longer involved with LeJ. "He wasn't our member," Ali bin Sufyan said, adding Baldeni had joined Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

ISIS did not immediately issue any statement about Badeni.

Revenge attack
The military said two would-be jacket wallahs were also killed in the raid, but gave no details.

Hours later, five suicide bombers tried to drive a vehicle laden with ammunition and explosives into a military facility in Quetta city, the army said in a statement.

Troops responded when one of the attackers detonated his explosive at the entrance, Khan Wasey, a local paramilitary front man said, and gunfire ensued.

All five attackers were killed, it said, adding the failed attempt
Curses! Foiled again!
was in Dire Revenge for the earlier operation.

Earlier this month, members of the Hazara community went on a hunger strike in Quetta to protest a spate of killings targeting them, and to demand greater protection in the resource-rich province that has been plagued by violence and insurgency.

A group that subscribes to the hardline Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
Deobandi school of thought, LeJ considers Shia Moslems apostates and has carried out a number of attacks against the religious minority, notably in the southwestern province.

Turkey’s CHP presidential candidate warns to shut key US base unless Gulen extradited
[PRESSTV] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s presidential candidate of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Muharrem Ince, has threatened to close a major American military base in the country by Christmas unless Washington extradites US-based opposition holy man Fethullah Gülen
... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world...
, whom Ankara blames for an abortive 2016 coup.

Ince sent out the warning to the White House about shutting down the base at Incirlik, a military airport located in southern Turkey, in an interview with Turkey’s Fox TV late on Wednesday, saying Washington must "extradite Fethullah Gulen from the United States."

"If you (the United States) don't hand him back, we will shut down Incirlik and send back US soldiers on December 24 and they can celebrate Christmas with their families," Ince added, a 54-year-old former physics teacher from the northwestern province of Yalova.

Shortly after the mid-July 2016 coup attempt against the government of Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
by a faction of the army, Ankara accused 76-year-old Gulen of being the criminal mastermind and orchestrator of the botched putsch, sending several official requests to Washington to hand over the elderly holy man, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the US since 1999.

Washington, however, has so far declined Ankara’s requests, saying it needs compelling evidence of Gulen’s alleged role in the failed coup to hand him over to the Anatolian country. In response, Ankara has on several occasions threatened that it would revisit its ties with the US if Washington failed to extradite Gulen.

-Land of the Free
Unintended Consequences
[HotAir] It was big news when Seattle’s far-left city council cut ties with Wells Fargo in February 2017. The city became the first in the nation to cut ties with a bank over the bank’s involvement in funding the Dakota Access Pipeline. But today, Seattle reversed course and signed a three-year agreement with Wells Fargo for banking services. Why? No other bank was willing to take their business.
Reality, and Karma, are hard hitters.
From KUOW:

Breaking up is hard ‐ especially if you’re a city trying to break up with a bank.

Especially if the other banks aren’t all that interested in dating you...
You're just not that popular, Seattle.
The city council resolved to find a new financial institution before ending the Wells Fargo contract at the end of 2018. But this week, City Finance Director Glen Lee gave them an update on the search for a bank.
We screwed up
"The reality is, none wanted to participate and bid for our services, and given the time it takes to shift to a new service, we felt it was prudent for the city to move forward," Lee said.

To really appreciate how embarrassing this is, you need to look back at the celebration and back-patting that took place last year when the city voted to dump Wells Fargo. Komo News reported there were cheers after the unanimous vote:

The crowd erupted in cheers and chanted "water is life" when the council unanimously passed the measure, which directs officials to end the city’s contract with the San Francisco-based bank once it expires in 2018 and not to make new investments in Wells Fargo securities for three years.
How'd that work out for ya?
"The example that we have set today can become a an example of stupidity beacon of hope" for activists across the country, said Councilmember Kshama Sawant, who co-sponsored the legislation...
"You have been a city setting the example to the world and I look to you to do that now," Olivia One Feather, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, told the council. "When big cities such as this do the right thing, it sparks hope in the world."
It depends on your definition of "right thing".
Councilwoman Sawant, who was so proud of being a "beacon of hope," is the socialist who led the campaign for Seattle’s head tax and who led the previous campaign for a $15 per hour minimum wage. She’s a real treasure.

To be fair, it probably didn’t help that 11 other major banks were also involved in funding the multi-billion dollar Dakota Access Pipeline, including Bank of America, CitiBank, Chase, etc. Ultimately, there are a limited number of institutions prepared to handle an account like Seattle’s. Maybe they should have thought about that before the vote?

Egypt's army kills 19 'takfiris' in Sinai anti-terror operations: Armed Forces spokesman
[AlAhram] Egypt’s military and police forces have killed 19 "takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
s" and jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
20 criminal suspects over the past few days as part of an offensive to crush terrorism in the northern and central Sinai Peninsula, the Armed Forces spokesperson said on Thursday.

Ten takfiris were killed in an exchange of fire with army forces during raids in northern and central Sinai, the front man said in a video showing footage and photos of the operation, which was published on his official Facebook page.

Police forces killed another nine takfiris in the North Sinai capital city of El-Arish, Colonel Tamer El-Refaie added.

Twenty criminal runaways and suspects have also been arrested.

The Arabic word "takfiri" refers to Death Eater Sunni Moslems who accuse other Moslems of being infidels, often as a justification for using violence against them.

The army operations are part of Operation Sinai 2018, which involves the army, navy, air force and police, and was launched in February to target "terrorist and criminal elements and organizations" in northern and central Sinai, parts of the Nile Delta and the Western Desert.

The statement is the 22nd communiqué released by the Armed Forces since the launch of Operation Sinai 2018.

The air force, which has been conducting Arclight airstrikes since the operation began, destroyed a vehicle loaded with weapons near the western border, the statement added.

Security forces also destroyed "a number of underground hideouts" and three tunnels used by forces of Evil in North Sinai as well as a weapons cache in the central part of the peninsula.

Military engineers discovered and destroyed three bombs planted to target forces at operation sites, the statement added.

Security forces also discovered and destroyed six farms used to grow illegal narcotics in central Sinai.

They also intercepted vehicles smuggling drugs near the country's western and southern borders.

Meanwhile,
...back at the buffalo wallow, Yellow Wolf clutched at his chest and fell from his horse...
security forces foiled an attempt by 25 people of different nationalities from illegally crossing the country's southern border, and 401 people of diffrent nationalities from illegally crossing the country's western borders.

The armed forces has dispatched food convoys to distribute large quantities of food and other necessary goods to citizens in north and central Sinai to meet their needs especially during the month of Ramadan.
Ynet adds:
Their deaths bring the total of those killed since the beginning of the operation to at least 296 including 35 military personnel, according to Rooters calculations based on military statements.

New US sanctions hit at Hezbollah financiers, funding
[Ynet] Treasury Department imposes sanctions on Hezbollah's financier, Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi, and its representative to Iran, Abdallah Safi al-Din; US 'will expose and disrupt Hezbollah and Iranian terror networks at every turn,' says Treasury Secretary Mnuchin.

The United States sought to further choke off funding sources for Iranian-backed Hezbollah on Thursday, sanctioning one of its financiers and its representative to Iran, as well as five entities based in Europe, West Africa and the Middle East.

It imposed sanctions on Hezbollah's financier, Mohammad Ibrahim Bazzi, and its representative to Iran, Abdallah Safi al-Din, the Treasury Department said in a statement.

The department said it had also blacklisted Belgian energy services conglomerate Global Trading Group; Gambia

The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
-based petroleum and petroleum products company Euro African Group; and Leb-based Africa Middle East Investment Holding, Premier Investment Group SAL Offshore and import-export group Car Escort Services.

"The savage and depraved acts of one of Hezbollah's most prominent financiers cannot be tolerated," US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.

"This administration will expose and disrupt Hezbollah and Iranian terror networks at every turn, including those with ties to the Central Bank of Iran," he said.

The sanctions are among a slew of new and additional ones aimed at Iran and Hezbollah since US President Donald Trump

withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal last week.

In one of the biggest moves aimed at tightening the noose on Iran's overseas operations and its elite revolutionary guards, the US Treasury sanctioned Iran's central bank governor, Valiollah Seif, earlier this week.

Report that Obama FBI spied on campaign could be 'bigger than Watergate'
[The Hill] President Trump on Thursday touted a report saying the FBI under former President Obama spied on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential race, saying that the revelation could be "bigger than Watergate."

"Wow, word seems to be coming out that the Obama FBI 'SPIED ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN WITH AN IMBEDDED INFORMANT,'" the president tweeted in reference to a National Review report published last week.

"Andrew McCarthy says, 'There’s probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign.' If so, this is bigger than Watergate!"

Pro-Trump college grad's assault rifle photo shoot goes viral: ‘Come and take it'
[From The Trenches] A senior at Kent State University whose graduation photos show her wearing an AR-10 rifle and a cap that reads "COME AND TAKE IT" is reportedly receiving death threats.

This week, Kaitlin Bennett tweeted the images, writing, "Now that I graduated from @KentState, I can finally arm myself on campus. I should have been able to do so as a student ‐ especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus," with the hashtag #CampusCarryNow.

None of them has ever been able to seriously answer that. The conversation usually goes in some other direction then...

Defeated Saudi-backed rebel group reorganizes ranks in northern Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Saudi-backed rebel group, Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
, is undergoing a military reorganization in Syria’s north after the group’s defeat in East Ghouta.

Jaish al-Islam leadership, currently based in Jarabulus of north Aleppo, has launched a recruiting campaign among refugees and evacuees from various Syrian areas to join their ranks for a $200 monthly salary.

Recruiters roamed tens of villages and towns in the sprawling countryside of Jarabulus and Afrin city, setting up offices to enroll the recruits . Militants of minor rebel groups in the area were also targeted by the campaign.

The strive to enlist more fighters and annex smaller factions was coupled with deals to purchase weapons and ammunition from local armed militias.

The group’s leader, Issam Buwaydani, toured the area days earlier and met with Syrian refugees and evacuees, vowing to carry out the fight against his enemies; namely the Islamic State

and Kurdish militia, but without mentioning the Syrian Army.

Jaish al-Islam left their longtime stronghold of Douma last month after accepting a surrender deal with the Syrian government. This came after the government troops waged a powerful assault in which they have retaken most of the East Ghouta region

Illegal immigrant charged with shootings: 'Voices' told me to shoot, gun wouldn't fire if victims were 'good'
[FoxNews] An undocumented immigrant charged with wounding two people minutes apart in northern Kansas City, Mo., reportedly told investigators he heard “voices” telling him to shoot, and that the gun wouldn’t fire if “they are good people.”

Arnoldo Pompa-Rascon was charged Tuesday with four felonies, including assault and armed criminal action, in the Friday night shootings that wounded a motorcyclist and another man as he pulled into his driveway.

The shootings occurred about an hour after popular tattoo artist Russell Fisk, 30, was fatally shot inside a BMW. No criminal charges have been filed in his death. Court documents filed in the other two shootings say Pompa-Rascon told police he shot a man in a "luxurious" car.

Fisk, a tattoo artist at Black Card Tattoo, died from a gunshot wound to his head, FOX4 KC reported.

A probable cause document stated that, as police were investigating Fisk's shooting, they received calls on another shooting. A man told authorities he was riding his motorcycle when he heard a gunshot and saw he had been struck. He said he saw a silver sedan drive by.

Following that shooting, officers were alerted to another shooting in Clay County. The victim told investigators he had pulled into his driveway when he noticed a silver sedan stop at his residence. The victim said a man asked him a question but he could not understand what it was because the man spoke Spanish. The victim walked away and was then shot in the chest by the man. The victim said he returned fire but it was not immediately clear if he hit the suspect.

On Tuesday, a man called police saying someone was attempting to steal his truck. The man held the suspect at gunpoint until police came and arrested the suspect, Pompa-Rascon.

Pompa-Rascon claimed he spoke Spanish and was “determined to be an illegal immigrant from Mexico and had been previously documented as having crossed the border illegally four prior times, records state,” NBC 12 reported.

Pompa-Rascon was picked out of a six-person line-up from one of the shooting victims who identified him as the man who shot him.

FOX4 DC reported Pompa-Rascon admitted to the shootings and said “voices told him to shoot” -- but that his gun would not work if they were “good” people.
Possibly this is true, in which case he is criminally insane and needs to spend a goodly period of time on the prison psych ward before being sent permanently back to Mexico, or he is lying and needs to punished accordingly. But first, could someone check to see if he is connected to MS-13 or any of the Mexican drug gangs?
Bond is set at $1 million. No attorney is listed for Pompa-Rascon in online court records.

#6  I like the term illegal alien. Folks who think of themselves as politically correct would use the term undocumented immigrant, or just immigrant. It seems many of them have difficulty acknowledging that these so-called immigrants are here illegally and so I am deeply suspicious of their motives.

You can say criminal illegal alien. It might be redundant but I won't argue.

Israel deploys Iron Dome missile defense system after false alarm in the Golan Heights
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have deployed the country’s missile defense system Iron Dome after air attack sirens went off in the Israel-controlled Golan Heights on the border with Syria due to a false alarm.

The Israeli military stated that it was a false alarm that triggered missile sirens in the Golan Heights. Earlier, locals reported hearing kabooms at the time of the alert.

The IDF front man said that an investigation was underway and warned that "the reports regarding an aircraft that was identified and intercepted are false."

It should be noted that the reports regarding an aircraft that was identified and intercepted are false
Yeah, we heard that
Tensions on the border have been running high recently, with the latest incident occurring on May 10 when Iranian forces in Syria launched missiles at Israel which were intercepted by the Iron Dome, according to Tel Aviv. It prompted Israel to attack Iranian targets in Syria in what became the most intensive strike into Syria since the start of the civil war in the country.

Frictions between Tel Aviv and Tehran have been increasing of late, with Israel accusing Iran of having a military presence in Syria. Tehran has refuted these claims as groundless, though admitting sending military advisors to train troops loyal to Damascus.

Following reports in the media that Iran was preparing a response to April’s alleged Israeli attacks on Iranian facilities in Syria, the IDF announced its defense systems were "on high alert for an attack," due to what it said was "irregular activity of Iranian forces in Syria."

truly ranks as one of the most unethical presidents Americans have had in a long time, according to Myles Hoenig, an American political analyst and activist.

Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Thursday while commenting on a statement by former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson who warned that American democracy was threatened by a growing "crisis of ethics and integrity," an apparent swipe at his former boss, President Trump.

"If our leaders seek to conceal the truth or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom," Tillerson said on Wednesday in a graduation address at the Virginia Military Institute.

Tillerson did not mention Trump by name during his address to graduates at the military college in Lexington, Virginia.Tillerson, who was fired by Trump in March after little more than a year on the job, warned that a crisis involving truthfulness and integrity is threatening US democracy.

In one WhatsApp chat group, some of the Brazilian suspects discussed plans to copy last year's London Bridge attack during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro or Salvador to kill as many people as possible, the document said.

Two of the Brazilians are being held in a maximum-security prison and five others, arrested since October, were freed pending trial, said a front man for the prosecutors office for the state of Goias in central Brazil that filed the charges.

snuffies in Farah city, the scenic provincial capital of Farah province.

According to the eyewitnesses and the residents of the city, the festivities broke out late on Wednesday night in some key parts of the city.

The local residents are saying that they have heard several sounds of kabooms after the Talibs attacked some key government compounds including the central prison of Farah.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that three foreign engineers have also bit the dust after a rocket fired by the Taliban snuffies struck their compound.

This comes as the local officials and the ministry of defense said Wednesday that the city has been fully cleared of the Taliban snuffies although they added that the hunt is underway for the remaining snuffies who may have hidden in some parts of the city as well as its outskirts.

In the meantime, the local residents are saying that the snuffies may have launched the latest attack from the residential areas close to the government compounds.

According to reports, the snuffies have attacked the intelligence compound, the police commandment, as well as the central prison.
