[AnNahar] The US Department of Homeland Security requested 1,000 additional soldiers to help manage the migrant crisis in Texas, the Pentagon said Monday, amid growing outcry over conditions in migrant detention facilities.
In a statement, the Pentagon said they had been asked to authorize the Texas National Guard to lend support to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials, who say they are overwhelmed by the numbers of refugees crossing the southern US border.
Thousands of active duty and National Guard troops have already been deployed for months along the US-Mexico border to support immigration officials.
"DHS requests authorization for 1,000 Texas National Guard members... to provide supplemental holding and Port of Entry (POE) enforcement support to CBP within the State of Texas," the statement said.
The Guard members will help manage CBP-run holding facilities for single, adult migrants colonists in the towns of Donna, on the eastern end of the border with Mexico, and Tornillo, which is in the middle of the border.
They will also provide support at ports of entry and commercial airports in El Paso and Laredo, in order to improve border security and traffic flow.
While the Pentagon did not specify when they received the request or if they had made a decision, the statement did note that "Texas Governor (Greg) Abbott has consented to the use of the National Guard to support CBP."
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been criticized after a report from its inspector general, a watchdog, last week warned about "dangerous overcrowding" in migrant detention facilities in Texas.
The report included images taken at several Texas sites, showing dozens of migrants colonists including young children packed shoulder to shoulder into cage-like holding areas or cells.

...You know, a couple decades ago a protester at the USN'S Bremerton WA Trident missile sub base lay down on the railroad tracks in front of a train that he (and others) believed my have been carrying nuclear warheads. His feeling - and that of every other protester there - was that there was no way the train would continue; that it would have to stop for the virtuous soul athwart the tracks.
The train did not stop, and the Virtuous Soul lost both legs. I have worked closely with many of the men and women who keep the weapons moving from point A to point B, and I assure you they will run down their sainted grandmothers if need be. Interestingly - and I am sure there is no connection at all - I am unaware of any other attempts to stop the weapons trains.

According to police, the Paleostinian assailant threw the Molotov cocktail at a Border Police post outside the Samaria region military court next to the Paleostinian village of Salim, near Nablus.
"He was shot by border guards in the lower body," police said. "The assailant was arrested."

The judge inquired from the prosecutor on what grounds the court would proceed in this matter. Abbasi, in response, pointed out that the judge had the power to initiate action against Maryam Nawaz under Section 30 of the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), 1999 read with serial number three of the Schedule of NAO, 1999.
Subsection ’a’ of section 30 of the NAO reads, "On pronouncement of [a] judgment, the court shall have the jurisdiction and power to take cognizance of any offence committed in the course of the investigating or trial of a case by any officer, any witness, including an expert, who has tendered false evidence in the case."

Thakur Trital, a district court official, told AFP that Dalglish had been sentenced for nine years for abusing a 12-year-old boy and seven years jail for molesting another 14-year-old.
"The judge is yet to decide whether he should serve a total 16 years in jail or be released after nine years. In most cases of a similar nature, sentences get overlapped but it is upon the judge to decide," Trital said.

[CLICK2HOUSTON] Fort Bend County Sheriff Nehls and law enforcement detectives announced the arrest of a group connected with a Honduran burglary ring Monday afternoon.
The Sheriff's Office launched an investigation after reports of a group targeting Indian, Asian and Middle Eastern communities. Officials said the group is tied to more 100 burglaries in the Houston area.
Officials said the suspects would scout apartment complexes, watch and wait until the victims would leave their homes. Officials said the burglaries would happen between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. where the suspects would knock on doors, then pry it with a screwdriver and ransack the home in just minutes. Detectives said the suspects only searched for gold, cash and jewelry.
"We lost everything, we lost everything and they made havoc of our house," said victim Nusrat Retiwala.
"You feel violated, I came home to a place that was completely vandalized every single item of my possession was sifted through thrown on the floor, you feel totally violated," said victim Nashida Subhi.
After the investigation, detectives were able to identify at least six suspects and vehicles connected to the string of burglaries and arrested then on burglary charges or burglary-related charges. Detectives said a majority of the suspects are from Honduras and have been deported several times in the past. Detectives said all six suspects have ICE holds and came back into the country illegally to commit crimes.
Here are the following suspects: Marvin Manuel Menjivar-Mejia, 32; Denis Ariel Hernandez-Cruz, 28; Marlon Rivera-Hernandez, 41; Selvin Rivera-Hernandez, 33; Elvin Ayala Lopez, 19; and Yoandris Miro, 25.
"I can say with certainty going through some of the records of these individuals who committed felonies in the past have been deported and have returned so we have people entering illegally and then committing felonies," said detective Scott Heinemeyer.

"I have to say that what I find odd was the timing of both events," Minko told the media. "One was at the beginning of Pride, and one was right at the end. One has to wonder if there’s a kind of message they’re trying to send."
Minko added he pulled down the gay flags on July Fourth to avoid the constant barrage of fireworks thrown at the bar’s front door. But the owner added the bar received no specific threats during gay pride month.
New York police released video of the previous flag burning, but no suspects have been identified.
"Second time around, I’m really kind of in shock, I have to admit," Minko said.
"Needless to say that we are at a loss of words. We’re shocked it will happen again so soon or that it would happen again period. Tonight, I have to say that we are all very sad about the whole situation," the bar owner added.

The EB-5 program awards almost 10,000 green cards each year to foreigners who lend money to U.S. investors. Once the lenders get green cards a few years later, they can get their money back, apply for citizenship, and then import their relatives via the chain-migration rules.
The Lofgren bill also puts at least 300,000 Indian contract-workers on a fast track to citizenship via the EB1, EB-2, and EB-3 green card lines, and it also helps companies import even more Indian contract-workers to take white-collar jobs from young American graduates, via the H-1B and "Optional Practical Training" programs.
Lofgren is a former immigration lawyer whose district includes much of Silicon Valley. She is trying to get the HR.1044 "country caps" bill passed without hearing or committee votes by sending it through a fast-track process. But that process requires 290 voters for a win, ensuring that the GOP leaders can stop her bill by reducing GOP support below 50 votes.

Also placed on the blacklist was Wafiq Safa, a top official of the Iran-allied Hezbollah.

Sherri and Tabaja have continued to do business together despite the latter’s designation. Sherri and Tabaja, among others, founded and were involved in a Leb-based company. Sherri also facilitated Tabaja's access to Lebanese banks and was directed by Hizbullah Secretary General (Hassan) Nasrallah to settle issues related to his designation," the Treasury added.
Safa meanwhile, the Treasury said, has "exploited Leb's ports and border crossings to smuggle contraband and facilitate travel on behalf of Hizbullah, undermining the security and safety of the Lebanese people, while also draining valuable import duties and revenue away from the Lebanese government."

[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: The relatives of a six-year-old patient locked the children’s hospital at the Pakistain Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on Monday to protest the amputation of her arm.
The hospital’s management has established an inquiry committee to investigate the case.
The child’s father, Mohsin Ali, said his daughter was brought to the Pims emergency on June 23 at around 9pm after she fell.
"At the time, Dr Mubashir, Dr Awais and another doctor told me [she had suffered] a major fracture for which a rod would be placed in her hand. However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... they applied plaster on the hand and discharged her at around 2am with instructions to visit the outpatient department in the morning.
"We reached [the outpatient department] at 8am, and Dr Mubashir told us that there was no need for the rod and they would once again apply the plaster as the alignment of one bone was not right," he said.
After three hours, he said, they were told that the bone had been aligned and the patient should be brought back in two weeks. However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... Mr Ali said they noticed at night that his daughter’s hand was turning green and brought her back to the hospital.
Initially, he said, the plaster was removed and Dr Mubashir checked the patient. The family was told the next morning that her arm would have to be amputated, which it later was.
Mr Ali has asked the management to take action against the doctors, who he has said are responsible.
Pims Executive Director Dr Raja Amjad told Dawn the patient had fallen off her roof and broke both bones in her arm.
"After applying the plaster at night, in the morning it was observed that one bone was aligned but the other was not, due to which a small procedure was done to align the bone and after applying plaster once again the girl was discharged with directions that the patient should be brought back if swelling is observed or the colour of her arm starts changing," he said.
"Although the colour of her hand began to change the family kept the girl in Murree for more than 27 hours, due to which when she was brought to the hospital there was no choice but to remove the hand. Despite that, doctors tried to restore the blood supply but failed," he said.
"Although I have established a committee to inquire into the issue, it was unfortunate that the girl’s relatives not only protested but also held doctors and patients hostage in the hospital," he added.
Dr Amjad said such situations put him in a difficult position, as doctors will begin to strike when patients’ relatives misbehave with them or physically attack them.
"The doctor who treated the girl has also worked in the United Kingdom and is well trained, so I cannot imagine that he could make a blunder. Despite that, I have established an inquiry committee and will take action after getting the inquiry report," he said.

[IsraelTimes] The Hamas terror group holds a major snap military exercise in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, a day after the five year anniversary of the 2014 war in the coastal enclave.
The drill reportedly included the closure of all land border crossings to Gaza and the prevention of fishermen from going out to sea.
Hebrew media quotes a spokesman for the Hamas-run interior ministry in Gaza saying the drill was meant to simulate a major security threat to Gaza and check the preparedness of Hamas forces.
The exercise comes a day after Israel announced the discovery of a cross-border attack tunnel from Gaza and two days after the IDF released the findings of an investigation into an operation in Gaza in November that went awry and left a special forces officer dead.

They were going on about this on NPR today. The expert was very concerned that voting districts and state and federal representation would be reorganized to reflect only citizen numbers, leaving non-citizens without political representation. Also, all the various funds for the needy would be reduced to match only the number of citizens in need, shortchanging everyone when the smaller amount was divided among the actual recipient population.

The ministry said "the incident caused us deep pain", according to reports from state media agency Anadolu. The PKK has not issued a statement.
In a separate statement, the Defense Ministry said its forces "neutralized" three PKK fighters on the border with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
"In coordination with Operation Claw, the PKK separatist terrorist organization’s weapon depots and hiding positions were targeted in the Metina region in northern Iraq, neutralizing three more terrorists," read the statement.
The PKK has not confirmed the attack in Hakkari or the fatalities in Metina. It has however released photographs of five PKK fighters killed in Dersim province, Turkey on May 10.
Ottoman Turkish media announced the death of a senior PKK official on Monday which was later confirmed by the PKK.
Diyar Ghareeb (or Halmat) was one of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK)’s seven-member General Leadership Council.
Ghareeb had served in their ranks for 25 years, "receiving education from leader Apo [Abdullah Ocalan]," the PKK’s incarcerated ... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not... founder, according to a KCK statement.
Turkey and the PKK reached a ceasefire deal in 2013 which lasted for more than two years, but deadly fighting soon resumed in the Kurdish provinces in southeast and eastern Turkey.
Ottoman Turkish forces retook several of these areas from the PKK.
Some 4,472 people have been killed since the grinding of the peace processor fell apart on July 20, 2015, according to the most recent figures from the International Crisis Group (ICG).

[TOWNHALL] This past weekend The Proud Boys and other right-wing groups organized a rally at Washington D.C.’s Freedom Plaza to protest Big Tech suppressing speech based on conservative ideology. Approximately 250 people attended the rally and Antifa ...the armed wing of the Democratic Party... brought around 50 members who were dressed in all black and wearing protective equipment such as body armor, helmets, and goggles. The left-wing anarchist group also wore masks just like they did in Portland to cover their identity.
Washington, D.C. Metro Police placed barricades between each side and kept the groups separated. Some Antifa members were able to skirt the barriers and single out a man wearing a MAGA hat. However, a lie repeated often enough remains a lie... this time, the police were allowed to do their job and pull the man away from the Antifa agitators without any reported injury to him.
The groups were placed so far apart on purpose they had difficulty hearing one another. At one point, Antifa insurrectionists attempted to break through an area, but the Metro officers quickly shut them down violently.
A few Antifa members attempted to bull rush officers. They were quickly grabbed and forcefully shoved backward, at least one falling on his back.
Metro Police met Antifa with the only thing they understand and the one thing they deserve ‐ aggression. The anarchist group arrives at protests dressed for war in protective equipment and with weapons such as pipes, crowbars, and other blunt objects to shutdown opposing speech with physical violence.
The Portland Police failed, but Metro P.D. treated Antifa appropriately. They are a group that uses their anonymity to injure and shut down the First Amendment. After the anarchists could not do that this weekend in Washington, their response was to attempt to break the line of officers. Traditionally, Antifa’s attempts to use of force are successful. This time they failed.

It said Epstein, a registered sex offender had "hundreds‐and perhaps thousands‐of sexually suggestive photographs of fully- or partially-nude females," and some of them appear to be of underage girls.
Some were in a locked safe that contained CDs labeled "Misc nudes 1," and "Girl pics nude," or even individual names, prosecutors said.
Photos of nude girls were also found during a 2005 raid on Epstein’s Palm Beach, Florida, mansion‐but he never went to trial then. Instead, federal prosecutors in Miami allowed him to plead guilty to a state prostitution charge‐a deal that is now under investigation.
The evidence, however, is not limited to the photos.
One of the rooms in the mansion matches descriptions provided by victims, prosecutors said in court‐complete with a massage table, sex toys, and lubricant.
"Even the room where abuses occurred is set up the way it was," Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex Rossmiller said.
The prosecution’s memo said corroborating evidence "also includes documents and other materials, such as contemporaneous notes, messages recovered from the defendant’s residence that include names and contact information for certain victims, and call records that confirm the defendant and his agents were repeatedly in contact with various victims during the charged period."

Epstein is a threat to the DS because of what and who he knows and the threat he presents to them. I read this a.m. Epstein (thru his lawyer) offered to exchange names, dates and info in exchange for 5 yrs. in the slammer. This could just be internet chatter though.

Some lawyers were also booked on charges of hurling threats on the judge, violence and obstructing him from performing his official duty.
The clash between the judge and the lawyer took place on July 1 and a formal report was registered on the daily diary of the Civil Lines police soon after the incident.
Since then lawyers have locked the doors of the district courts in protest and are not allowing the police in uniform to enter the premises and present under-trial prisoners before the courts. Sounds like the Pak lawyers NEED a beat down. I'm all for it
"We have to wear plainclothes while taking prisoners to the courts," a police official said.
He said lawyers had been demanding registration of a case under terrorism act against the civil judge but the police had registered an attempted murder case.
The complainant in the FIR was a private individual, not the lawyer.
Mohammad Younus, a resident of Dhoke Kala Khan, complained to the Civil Lines police that he was in the court of civil judge Shaukat Hayat to get his name corrected in his documents on July 1 when a lawyer started arguing with the judge over some issue.
He said during the arguments the lawyer allegedly used abusive language against the judge and threw something towards him. In response, he added, the judge allegedly threw a paperweight towards the lawyer which hit his ear, though it didn’t cause injuries to him.
In retaliation to the judge’s action, the lawyer started screaming which caught attention of other lawyers who gathered in the judge’s room. Looking at the intensity of the situation, the judge walked out of the courtroom from the backdoor whereas the lawyers left the courtroom after hurling threats on the judge and shouting slogans.
Mr Younus said in the FIR that he also left the courtroom for the safety of his life and later went to the cop shoppe.
The District Bar Association has demanded dismissal of the civil judge and registration of an FIR against him on the charges of attempted murder as well section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

According to a Sunday report on the website of Egypt Independent, the al-Azhar professor, Alaa Moawad, attended the trial.
The Supreme State Security Criminal Court also fined Moawad approximately $30,000.
The Egyptian news outlet wrote that "The computer used by the defendants was confiscated and placed under the authority of" the General Intelligence Directorate, Egypt’s intelligence agency.
The alleged spies "were charged of collaborating with an official from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards [IRGC] between 2012 and April 2016 and providing information to him with the aim of harming Egypt’s military, political and national interests."
The US government designated the IRGC a foreign terrorist organization in April.
The other convicted espionage agents, who are on the lam, are: Hassan Derbaghi, Mohammed Makari, Hamida al-Ansari, Karimi Mohsen and Shafii Hussein.
