Britain
British Ambassador Kim Darroch Resigns…
[Last Refuge] U.K. Ambassador Kim Darroch (pictured left) wrote disparaging diplomatic cables about U.S. President Donald Trump. The cables were leaked to the media. Embarrassed by the publicity of the content Ambassador Darroch has resigned after President Trump called him a "pompous fool" and said the administration wouldn’t work with him.

The British Ambassador writes:

"Since the leak of official documents from this Embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador. I want to put an end to that speculation. The current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like. Although my posting is not due to end until the end of this year, I believe in the current circumstances the responsible course is to allow the appointment of a new ambassador."

Various British politicians are upset about the resignation, saying the U.K. government should have done more to support their embattled Ambassador. Ultimately this is all a little funny.... The British are going bananas; and President Trump doesn’t care.

#1  The president could have PNG’d him for it, but didn’t. One hopes the next government over there more carefully matches personality and background with the assigned country, rather than going strictly by seniority. After all, they wouldn’t have assigned a Jewish lesbian to Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan, right? It doesn’t matter as much for support staff, but a country’s ambassador quickly becomes ineffective if he or she despises his hosts.

#2  From all their verbiage, it appears they're not really very sorry for his views. They keep repeating that it was unfortunate only that the uncouth correspondence was leaked.

"We should try to hide our hate more efficiently."

Let's see how they behave after their divorce from the Ewww!Yuchh!EU. If ever.

Science & Technology
Prepare For Your Cyborg Implants, Puny Humans
[Hot Air] It’s not just science fiction anymore. Like it or not, we’ve already started blending machinery with human beings. Cyborgs are actually becoming a thing, and once you’ve learned how to do a little of something, humanity’s track record indicates that you’ll be doing it a lot. Over at Fox News, one professor from Jerusalem is predicting that the day is coming far sooner than you might think, along with a huge load of ethical and moral questions that accompany the technology.
In a not-so-distant future, humans will merge with machines.
Although that seems like something cooked up by a science fiction writer, according to a prominent historian it’s a reality that’s not very far away ‐ especially given how much Big Tech has disrupted everything from commerce (Amazon) to relationships (Facebook) and media (Google and Facebook).

"It’s increasingly hard to tell where I end and where the computer begins," Yuval Harari, a professor of history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, told the audience at the Fast Company European Innovation Festival this week. "In the future, it is likely that the smartphone will not be separated from you at all. It may be embedded in your body or brain, constantly scanning your biometric data and your emotions."

We’re already being told we spend too much time looking at our phones when they’re just in our pockets. (To the point where we may or may not be growing bone spikes on our heads as a result.) So how do you feel about the idea of the phone being embedded in your body? Or even inside your brain and just flashing your text messages directly into your cerebral cortex?

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Sex, Lies, and Epstein/Clinton Flight Logs
[American Thinker] One can almost see Bill Clinton stepping up to the microphone in full dudgeon to say something like, "I did not have sex with any underage sex slaves on that man’s, Mr. Epstein’s, island on the 26 occasions I didn’t fly with him." His spokespeople quickly responded to any suggestions Bill Clinton, poster child for celibacy, partook of any of accused billionaire pedophile, more salacious offerings of in-flight and ground-level entertainment.

Team Clinton insisted that Bill flew only four times in Mr. Epstein’s very friendly skies, stopping short of the suggestion that in any event they only discussed golf and grandchildren as Bill supposedly did when he met with AG Loretta Lynch to not discuss the investigation of Hillary Rodham Clinton for playing fast and loose with classified emails on a private server. As Fox News reported, Team Clinton released a statement denying any involvement with Epsteins’ sex-capades:
"In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation," the statement said. "Staff, supporters of the foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip. He had one meeting with Epstein in his Harlem office in 2002, and around the same time made one brief visit to Epstein’s New York apartment with a staff member and his security detail. He’s not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade, and he has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida."
Not so fast or slick, Willy. Experts that have looked into the records say you are lying and have seen the flight logs that prove it. Again, as Fox News has reported:

Africa Horn
Israel air defense system for Ethiopia’s Great Nile dam - Egypt unhappy
[DEBKA SO SALT!] Israeli firms have finished installing the advanced Spyder-MR air defense system for the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam upstream of the Nile – in the face of discord with Egypt.

Cairo has strongly resisted the construction of Ethiopia’s mega-dam as a threat to its water security. It is estimated that the new dam when filled will store up to 74 billion cubic meters of water, equal to twice the average annual flow of the Nile at the Sudanese-Egyptian border. Half Egypt’s population lives and subsists on the Nile River basin and its fast-growing numbers already present the country with a massive water deficit. Cairo, which for decades has enjoyed hegemony over its source of life, one of the world’s major rivers, is not appeased by Addis Ababa’s assurances.

Ethiopia has high hopes of the great dam as a major economic boost. Its 15 turbines are planned to double or treble its power industry, create new jobs in and outside farming and export energy to its neighbors.

Our military sources report that Addis chose the Spyder-MR air defense system to shield the Great Renaissance Dam project after watching its performance in the Indian-Pakistani clashes in Kashmir five months ago. It is the only system known to be capable of simultaneously launching two different types of missile – a Python-5 (5km range) and Derby-6 (50km range). Spyder-MR is the product of three Israeli firms, Rafael, which makes the missiles: the MBT Missiles Division of Israel Aerospace Industries – the trucks on which the missiles are mounted; and Elta Systems for the radar.

Work on installing the air defense system which began in May has just been completed.

Our sources also report that frequent calls came from the office of Egyptian President Abdel Fatteh El-Sisi in an effort to dissuade Israel from installing the Spyder-MR on the great Ethiopian dam, but the prime minister’s office in Jerusalem decided to go ahead with it just the same

Why would the Mossad help Turkey's Erdogan combat terrorism?
[Jpost] How should one react to sensational reports by Channel 12 late Tuesday that the Mossad has not only helped countries around the world to avoid terrorist attacks from Iran

PA ups pay-for-slay salary to murderer of 3 Israeli teenagers
[Jpost] The Paleostinian Authority today doubled the monthly payment being made to the terrorist criminal mastermind behind the 2014 kidnapping and murder of Gilad Shaar, Eyal Yifrach and Naftali Frenkel, according to Paleostinian Media Watch.

Beginning today, five years after the July 11, 2014 arrest of Husam al-Qawasmi, he will begin receiving NIS 4,000 instead of NIS 2,000 a month, according to the PA’s standard pay scale. A prisoner’s monthly salary increases with prison time served.

"Having dealt personally with the prosecution of al-Qawasmi, and having seen the evil that he represents, it is unfathomable to me that the PA pays this murderer anything," Maurice Hirsch, head of legal strategies at PMW said. "The PA pays millions of shekels to turbans every day. For the PA it doesn't matter whether you belong to Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,, Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
or Fatah, whether you murdered children, women or the elderly, what is important is that you were involved in terrorism against Israel and Israelis."

The PA has long had a "pay-for-slay" policy, by which it pays monthly salaries to terrorist prisoners and the families of those turbans who were killed in the act or on arrest. In February 2019, Israel implemented the "Pay-for-Slay" Law that instructs the state to deduct and freeze the amount of money the PA pays in salaries to imprisoned turbans and families of "deaders" from the tax money it collects for the PA. The law was passed in July 2018 and was approved for implementation by Israel’s security cabinet this year. In 2019, the cabinet is withholding approximately $138 million.

Nonetheless, due to the passing of the PA’s 2004 Law of Prisoners and Released Prisoners, the government has continued to pay these prisoners.

So far, PMW reported, al-Qawasmi has received approximately NIS 98,000 since he was arrested.

The PA also pays monthly allowances to the families of two dead turbans who were likewise involved in the kidnapping and murder of the three boys, Marwan al-Qawasmi and Amer Abu Aisheh. They were killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli security forces when they resisted arrest. Since they were married and had children, their families receive NIS 2,000 per month and NIS 2,400 per month, respectively.
The Times of Israel adds:
Israel maintains that the Paleostinian policy of paying security prisoners and their families incentivizes and rewards violent attacks against Israelis.

The Ramallah-based Paleostinian leadership contends that it seeks to provide social welfare to Paleostinian families and make up for what it describes as an unfair military justice system.

PA Finance Ministry documents posted on its website indicate that Ramallah paid approximately NIS 40 million every month to security inmates and their families between January and December 2018 and January and April 2019.

The original idea was to help the Palestinians develop the skills of governing themselves even before their economy was strong enough to support it, as I understand it, and then to transfer taxes on Palestinian goods sold in Israel, and Palestinian wages earnt there, and so forth. But I could be wrong. g(r)omgoru and lord garth, among others, probably have a better understanding of the subject.

Palestinian terror groups say Gazan collaborators with Israel arrested
[IsraelTimes] Suspects accused of involvement in recent Israeli attempts to assassinate Paleostinian operatives in the coastal enclave.

Sources in Paleostinian terror groups said that Gazook collaborators with Israel, who were involved in recent Israeli attempts to assassinate Paleostinian operatives in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip, have been arrested.

The Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar quoted sources Wednesday as saying that one collaborator was collared after he unsuccessfully tried to poison a top Gazook military leader on behalf of Israel in June. The report did not state the name or political affiliation of the military leader.

Al-Akhbar, which is based in Beirut, often produces coverage sympathetic to the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror group.

The sources alleged that a second collaborator was nabbed after he sent a bomb-laden package to a military operative in Gaza at Israel’s behest. They said that the explosive package was defused and that other collaborators involved in sending it to the military operative were arrested.

Asked about the al-Akhbar story, an Israeli military spokesperson said the army does not comment on foreign reports.

Al-Akhbar also reported that Israel recently tried to kill a Paleostinian that it released to Gaza as a part of a prisoner swap with Hamas in 2011, by sending him a explosive package. The report did not attribute that detail to a source or state whether a collaborator was involved. However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
it did claim that security forces in Gaza foiled the plot.

Israel freed more than 1,000 Paleostinian prisoners in 2011 in exchange for captured Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, who Hamas held in its custody for more than five years.

Security sources claimed to the Lebanese daily that after terror groups recently broke up some networks of collaborators in Gaza, they identified "urgent attempts" by the Shin Bet security service to recruit new ones. They said the agency tried to enlist Paleostinians in Gaza through blackmail and by offering financial rewards.

Hamas-run Interior Ministry front man Iyad al-Bozm has stated publicly that security forces in Gaza have arrested dozens of collaborators in the past year.

Also quoted in the report was an unnamed leader in an unidentified Paleostinian terror group in Gaza who threatened that military operatives in the coastal enclave could take over Israeli communities adjacent to the Strip.

"In any future war, the enemy must expect groups [of fighters] to enter its areas and take control of those settlements," the leader said to the Lebanese daily, alluding to the communities near Gaza.

#4  Mississippi River has been held at a steady 16.3 feet (give or take a few inches) for several months by diversion of a bunch of flow through the control structures into Lake Pontchartrain and into the Atchafalaya River system. This storm system should not raise it too much from the rain, as the River will only see the water that falls on it or gets pumped out of the city into it, which is only a tiny fraction of flow. Storm surge at the mouth of the river will reduce the gradient ('raise the back pressure') temporarily, which will reuce the river flow and back the river up into New Orleans, which would probably raise the river level to near record highs, and be a full test of the levee system.

Boston-Area MS-13 Update
It's been a while since I've seen anything on this front...
[Universal Hub] - Nelson "Inquieto" Cruz Rodriguez Cartagena, 25, was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison yesterday for his role in running an MS-13 "clique" in Everett, after which he will be subject to deportation to his native El Salvador, the US Attorney's office in Boston reports.

Rodriguez pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to conduct enterprise affairs through a pattern of racketeering activity in April.

According to the feds, Rodriguez helped unmask one MS-13 member a leader thought was ratting on him and hid a gun used to fatally shoot a member of the rival 19th Street Gang in the head.

Although some of his crimes occurred in 2016 - when federal and local authorities arrested some 61 MS-13 members, Rodriquez was not indicted until 2018.

Two US Marines Arrested for Migrant Trafficking
For shame!
[AnNahar] Two US Marines have been arrested for smuggling undocumented Mexican migrants colonists into the United States in exchange for money, according to a court document.

Byron Darnell Law II and David Javier Salazar-Quintero were arrested on July 3 along the Mexican border in Jacumba, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, the document said.

They were charged with having transported three undocumented migrants colonists about six miles (10 kilometers) over the border.

The three Mexican nationals seated in the back of the Marines' vehicle were prepared to pay $8,000 "to be smuggled into the United States," although it is unclear to whom they would have paid the money.

The two Marines, who were stationed at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, have been accused of "knowingly" transporting the migrants colonists into the US "for the purpose of... private financial gain," according to the court document.

During their hearings, both men accused each other of responsibility in the matter: Law said that Salazar received directions to the pickup location via a cell phone, while Salazar said that Law originally got him involved with smuggling. Salazar also said he had made four other smuggling trips to Jacumba.

Law and Salazar were formally charged Monday, according to The Washington Post. The office of the attorney general did not respond to AFP's request for comment.

"We continue to cooperate fully with the investigative efforts into this matter," Marine front man First Lieutenant Cameron Edinburgh told Marine Corps Times.

This is not the first case of US military members helping migrants colonists enter the US. There were similar instances in 2014, 2017 and last year.

The US Border Patrol apprehended nearly 700,000 people illegally crossing into the United States from October to June, 140 percent higher than during the same period a year earlier.

South sees stark drop in number of fires caused by Gaza arson attacks
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli military on Wednesday reported a fivefold drop in the number of fires sparked by balloon-borne incendiary devices from the Gazoo Strip over the past year and an even greater decline in the extent of the damage caused by the flames.

Chinese military deploys armored vehicles to Europe for the first time as Chinese medics train in Germany
[MilitaryTimes] The Chinese military has deployed military personnel and armored medical vehicles to Germany for joint drills, a first for the Chinese People's Liberation Army as it attempts to forge closer ties with Europe.

The joint exercise; Combined Aid 2019; is focused on preparing troops with the medical service units of the Chinese and German armed forces to respond to humanitarian crises, such as mass casualty incidents and serious disease outbreaks, China's Xinhua News Agency reported.

The exercise follows a cooperative military medical training exercise in 2016 in Chongqing, where the PLA and the German Bundeswehr practiced responding to an imaginary earthquake scenario.

"We've seen China increasing its participation in these kinds of activities. It provides a low risk means to demonstrate its commitment to global governance, which may help reduce anxiety about its growing military capabilities," China watcher Matthew Funaiole, an expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told INSIDER.

"The PLA in the future will need to go abroad to protect China's overseas interests in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative," he explained. "If there could be some basic mutual trust and understanding with NATO forces, the risk of potential conflict could be greatly mitigated."

Jorge Benitez, a NATO expert with the Atlantic Council, told Stars and Stripes that "the presence of the Chinese military in Germany for this exercise creates very bad optics for Germany, NATO and the US and is a cheap propaganda victory for China."

Last year, the Chinese People's Liberation Army-Navy (PLAN) conducted its first combined exercise with the European Union Naval Force (EU NAVFOR) in waters near China's new military base in Djibouti. It marked an unprecedented level of cooperation at that time.

Shakespeare At The Pentagon
Anything that starts with a play on the “Friends, Romans, countrymen” speech gets my attention.
[AmericanGreatness] Antony’s speech convinced the Roman populace that Caesar’s actions were more complex than mere personal ambition. So, too, issues around the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and other defense acquisitions are more complex than cost overruns and claims about capability shortfalls.

What’s at stake is a much deeper issue. How can the U.S. maintain military effectiveness at a time of rapid technological change and the disruption it brings?
Thoughtful and thought provoking.

In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.

The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present

and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientifictechnological elite.

Appeals court sides with President Trump, dismisses 'emoluments' lawsuit involving his DC hotel
[ABCNews] A federal appeals court on Wednesday handed President Donald Trump a legal victory, dismissing a lawsuit accusing the president of illegally profiting from his Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., by accepting money from foreign governments.

The attorneys general from Maryland and the District of Columbia had brought the case, arguing that the president violated a constitutional clause that prohibits elected officials from doing business with foreign governments without permission from Congress.

But an appeals court panel ruled the attorneys general lacked standing to bring the lawsuit.

Two men shot dead, another wounded in ‘terrorist’ attack in Karachi
[DAWN] Two men were killed and another was critically maimed in an armed attack on a roadside teashop in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Tuesday in what police suspected to be an "apparent case of terrorism" to create panic in the city, officials and witnesses said.

The officials said that two men riding a cycle of violence pulled up outside the teashop, fired multiple shots and sped away. The intense firing, they said, left three men maimed, two of whom died while being taken to hospital.

"The hotel is situated in Pehalwan Goth where mostly labourers are seen having tea or sitting with friends," said an official at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar cop shoppe. "The dear departed were identified as 45-year-old Barkat Ali and 40-year-old Nazik while the injured, who’s still in a critical condition and being treated at the JPMC [Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre], is named Abdul Aziz, 35. The firing suspended [normal activities] in the area but enhanced patrolling and deployment of law enforcers, including Rangers’ personnel, brought the situation back under control."

Initially, the police Sherlocks remained clueless about the motive for the attack, but the initial findings suggested the motive of spreading terror in the city.

"Initially it was not clear what really led to this incident," said DIG East Amir Farooqi. "But statements of the witnesses and initial investigations helped us connect the dots to conclude that it was apparently a terrorism-related attempt just to trigger fear and panic. The findings suggest that two men on a motorbike pulled up outside the hotel and one of them got off the two-wheeler. Within seconds he started indiscriminate firing on the people sitting there, leaving three of them maimed. The attackers neither spotted anyone, nor they looked for anything valuable. They sped away after executing the job."

He said investigations were on and the police were collecting all relevant evidence from the scene of the crime and recording statements of eyewitnesses. The area, he said, had a multiethnic population following different sects. There was no apparent reason to suspect the attack against people of any particular ethnicity or sect, added the DIG.

The back-to-back incidents in the city’s East and South districts [a journalist was shot and killed in the DHA also on Tuesday] left the people of both areas shocked and in a state of fear.

Trump dossier author Steele gets 16-hour DOJ grilling
[POLITICO] Remington Christopher Steele, the former British spy behind the infamous "dossier" on President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
’s ties to Russia, was interviewed for 16 hours in June by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The interview is part of an ongoing investigation that the Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, has been conducting for the past year. Specifically, Horowitz has been examining the FBI’s efforts to surveil a one-time Trump campaign adviser based in part on information from Steele, an ex-British MI6 agent who had worked with the bureau as a confidential source since 2010.

Horowitz’s team has been intensely focused on gauging Steele’s credibility as a source for the bureau. But Steele was initially reluctant to speak with the American Sherlocks because of the potential impropriety of his involvement in an internal DOJ probe as a foreign national and retired British intelligence agent.

Steele’s allies have also repeatedly noted that the dossier was not the original basis for the FBI’s probe into Trump and Russia.

The extensive, two-day interview took place in London while Trump was in Britannia for a state visit, the sources said, and delved into Steele’s extensive work on Russian interference efforts globally, his intelligence-collection methods and his findings about Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, who the FBI ultimately surveilled. The FBI’s decision to seek a surveillance warrant against Page ‐ a warrant they applied for and obtained after Page had already left the campaign ‐ is the chief focus of the probe by Horowitz.

The interview was contentious at first, the sources added, but Sherlocks ultimately found Steele’s testimony credible and even surprising. The takeaway has irked some U.S. officials interviewed as part of the probe ‐ they argue that it shouldn’t have taken a foreign national to convince the inspector general that the FBI acted properly in 2016. Steele’s American lawyer was present for the conversation.

Washington state sues Navy over expanded operations on Whidbey Island
[NavyTimes] SEATTLE ‐ Washington state sued the Navy on Tuesday over its expansion of jet operations on an island north of Seattle, saying officials failed to adequately consider the effect that additional noisy flights would have on people or wildlife.

"The Navy has an important job, and it's critical that their pilots and crews have the opportunity to train," Attorney General Bob Ferguson said in a news release announcing the lawsuit. "That does not relieve the federal government of its obligation to follow the law and avoid unnecessary harm to our health and natural resources."

The Navy's public affairs office said it does not comment on litigation.

The Navy in March authorized the expansion of its Growler program by up to three dozen jets, adding to the 82 already based on Whidbey Island, north of Seattle.

The low-flying jets conduct electronic warfare to jam enemy communications and launch systems, and under the expansion plans crews would perform around 100,000 takeoffs and landings a year for the next three decades.

That, Ferguson said, could have serious effects on nearby residents. The state Health Department has outlined how exposure to noise levels similar to those at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island could disrupt children's learning and cause sleep disturbance, cognitive impairment and cardiovascular disease.

It could also disrupt the feeding and breeding of eagles and marbled murrelets, a type of seabird.

In the news release, Quinault Indian Nation President Fawn Sharp called on the federal government to strike a balance between national security and environmental preservation.

"Unregulated, unrestrained noise pollution from increased military training operations presents a clear threat to the health and solitude of our state's fragile ecosystems, treaty protected resources and endangered species," she said.

In its decision to approve the expansion plan, the Navy said the number of flights on the island would be comparable to those that occurred from the 1970s through the 1990s. It also said it would continue to invest in technologies to reduce engine and aircraft noise.

The state's lawsuit alleges violations of the National Environmental Protection Act and the federal Administrative Procedure Act. Ferguson said he intended to add claims under the Endangered Species Act.

The National Parks Conservation Association said it supports the lawsuit, noting that the flights could also affect Ebey's Landing, a historical preserve on Whidbey Island, and Olympic National Park. The association recently filed a lawsuit accusing the Navy of withholding information about noise pollution from the jets over Olympic National Park.

Navy Secretary Richard Spencer wrote a letter in March to the federal Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, rebuffing its call for additional noise monitoring and tracking of the effect on tourism. He said the Navy had already performed noise monitoring and noted it was spending $876,000 to refurbish a home at Ebey Landing built in 1860.
Just last week we saw SpaceX considering leaving Vandenberg because California objected to rocket launch/landing noise interfering with seals having sex. It must be the new game of the Left Coast Luddites

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats tried, failed to seize British oil tanker in Persian Gulf
Here it comes
[Fox News] Five Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps gunboats tried to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf Wednesday but backed off after a British warship approached, a senior U.S. defense official told Fox News.

The British warship was said to have been less than 5 miles behind the tanker but soon intercepted the Iranian boats and threatened to open fire. A manned U.S. reconnaissance aircraft was above as well, the official said, adding that Iranian forces left without opening fire.

Navy Captain Bill Urban, spokesman for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), said the military was aware of the reported actions. He added, “Threats to international freedom of navigation require an international solution. The world economy depends on the free flow of commerce, and it is incumbent on all nations to protect and preserve this lynchpin of global prosperity.”

The British frigate was identified as the HMS Monstrose, according to CNN, which was first to report the encounter.

The incident was the latest in a series of provocations between the Islamic Republic and the West. British forces last week seized an Iranian supertanker that officials believed was operating in violation of European Union sanctions. The British Royal Marines captured the vessel in Gibraltar after believing it was trying to provide crude oil to Syria, an ally of Iran.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned that Britain would face repercussions over the seizure.
Oooooohhhhh — so scary. The Sun has pictures, and adds:
One of the officials said: "The Royal Navy HMS Montrose, which was also there, pointed its 30mm deck guns at the boats and warned them over radio, at which point they dispersed."

The other added: "It was harassment and an attempt to interfere with the passage."

A US aircraft was flying overhead at the time and recorded footage of the standoff, the officials said.
The Jerusalem Post has a more anodyne description of the first part of the encounter, though I know which way I’m betting:
The British tanker was crossing into the Strait of Hormuz when the Iranian boats approached. The Iranian ships told the British Heritage tanker that it should change its course and stop in Iranian territorial waters.
Darth Vader also submitted the Sun article, commenting,

An Iranian attempt at "You seize ours, we'll seize yours". Clumsy attempt.

If this is the best they can do, they better go back to sending IEDs to Afghanistan to kill our soldiers.

#8  So, if the Iranian boats had been stupid enough to fire on HMS Montrose (trying to get their 72 virgins), would that be considered an attack on the UK? Since the UK is a NATO ally and an attack on one is (supposed to be) an attack on all, would Trump then be justified in attacking Iran? (Like sinking their entire navy)

Also, the Montrose was only five miles away. According to Google, the range of her 4.5" gun is about 15 miles. She could have taken out all five of the boats before they could even fire back.

Syria regime air strikes hit hospital, kills seven civilians
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Regime air strikes on an opposition bastion in northwestern Syria on Wednesday killed seven civilians including children and knocked a hospital out of service, a monitor and a doctor said.
Trump's fault
The raids are the latest in an uptick in government and Russian bombardment since late April on the holy warrior-administered region of Idlib despite a months-old truce deal.

Three civilians died after the hospital was hit, while four were killed elsewhere in the town, said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

Rescue workers known as the White Helmets said missiles targeted the hospital and residential neighborhoods in Jisr al-Shughur.

A doctor there said the health facility had been knocked out of service after the generators were hit, and the maimed had been transferred to another hospital for treatment.

"We have no more generators to operate the hospital. It’s the only one for Jisr al-Shughur and neighboring villages," Bassam al-Khattab told AFP.

An AFP correspondent saw three destroyed generators and a damaged ambulance covered in debris.

Idlib, home to some three million people, has since January been administered by Syria’s former al-Qaeda affiliate Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
But other holy warrior and rebel groups are also present in the area.

More than 550 civilians have been killed in regime and Russian air strikes on northwest Syria since the end of April, the Observatory says.

The United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
says 25 health facilities in the region have been hit.

Syria’s war has killed more than 370,000 people and displaced millions since it started in 2011 with a brutal crackdown on anti-government protests.

Iraqi man gets life in jail for rape, murder of Jewish teen in Germany
[IsraelTimes] Judge says assault, murder of 14-year-old Susanna Maria Feldman is of exceptional severity and Ali Bashar showed ’neither remorse nor empathy’, so won’t get parole after 15 years.

An Iraqi man was sentenced to life in jail by a German court on Wednesday for the rape and murder of a teenage girl that fueled far-right protests against a mass influx of mostly Moslem migrants colonists.

Rejected asylum seeker Ali Bashar,
...the Iraqi Kurd known wolf, also in our archives as Ali B. and Ali Basar, is a living example of the legal maxim Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus...
22, was convicted of the killing and handed the maximum sentence of life in prison by the court in Wiesbaden, the city where the murder took place in May last year.

The judge, Juergen Bonk, also found the crime to be of exceptional severity, meaning that Bashar will not be granted parole after 15 years as is usually the case in Germany.

Bashar committed a "coldblooded murder" and showed "neither remorse nor empathy," said the presiding judge, adding that during his trial the defendant had "voiced no sincere word of regret."

The Iraqi man battered, raped and strangled the Jewish schoolgirl to death in a wooded area near railway tracks on May 23, 2018.

The court heard he then sent false messages from Susanna’s smartphone indicating she had left for an impromptu trip to Gay Paree.

Her body was only found on June 6 in a shallow grave covered with leaves, twigs and soil.

By this time, Bashar and his family had left Germany and returned to Arbil in northern Iraq.

The accused was however arrested by Kurdish security forces and, even though Berlin and Baghdad have no formal extradition treaty, taken back to Germany.

INCAPABLE OF EMPATHY
Federal police chief Dieter Romann personally joined the controversial operation, as newspaper front pages showed pictures of commandos escorting a heavily restrained Bashar off an aircraft.

Bashar later confessed the killing but denied the rape, claiming that he and the girl had consensual sex before she fell, got angry and threatened to call the police.

In a separate trial, Bashar is accused of twice raping an 11-year-old girl, who was believed to have also been sexually assaulted by an Afghan youth.

The Bashar case put renewed pressure on Merkel’s government over the decision to keep open German borders at the height of Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
’s refugee crisis.

The far-right has voiced fury about cases of sexual violence committed by recent migrants colonists and other foreign nationals ‐ including mass assaults in Cologne
...the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth populated city in Germany....
on New Year’s Eve 2015-16, and, in April this year, the alleged gang rape by eight Bulgarian teens of a 13-year-old girl.

Bashar, his parents and siblings arrived in Germany in 2015, at the peak of the influx that would bring more than a million asylum seekers, mostly from the Middle East and Africa.

His asylum request was rejected in late 2016, but he obtained a temporary residence permit pending his appeal.

During this time, he came to police attention for fights, alleged robbery and possession of an illegal switchblade.

Susanna’s mother, Diana Feldmann, dressed in black during the almost four-month-long trial, broke down in tears as the court heard the harrowing details of the crime.

"I have already been given a lifetime sentence," she told a court last week.

Bashar by contrast appeared composed during the trial, in which a psychiatrist testified the accused has a personality disorder and is incapable of empathy.
The Jerusalem Post adds:
Bashar, 22, arrived in Germany with his family from Iraq and applied for asylum while living in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt. It was there that he befriended 14-year-old Feldmann through his younger brother, who was also an asylum seeker.

During the search for her daughter, Diana Feldmann even visited Bashar's home for help. She later told The Jerusalem Post that Bashar's family told her they had heard about the situation from the news.

"We were talking to them in their house and the mother said, ‘Allah, Allah. We didn’t see him.’

"They lied to me, to my face," she continued. "They knew exactly what happened. How can a mother – a mother who has eight children herself – lie to another mother’s face and say: ‘I don’t know what happened to your daughter’?”
As Elmerert Hupens2660 commented a year ago about this case,

Everything concerning this sc*m and his sc*m family has been illegal:

Illegal entry, fake identity, fake refugee, violent crime spree including armed robbery and possibly child rape, fraudulently obtaining benefits, illegal exit using multiple identities (one of which might have been valid), and of course confessed murder.

None of this would have been possible without the German political class deciding to be an accomplice.

At least they’ll keep him locked away from his future victims for a while.

[Breitbart] Attorney Harmeet Dhillon, known for her work defending Andy Ngo and James Damore, launched a new legal nonprofit, Publius Lex, aimed at protecting civil rights for all Americans, including conservatives who are the frequent target of far-left activists and corporations.

Dhillon is the attorney for Andy Ngo, the journalist who was hospitalized with a brain hemorrhage by Death Eater "Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
" activists in Portland two weeks ago. Her firm is also waging a class-action lawsuit against Google on behalf of former employees who allege the company discriminates against non-progressives and against white and Asian males.

A judge recently ruled that the case against Google can proceed to discovery.

She also won a lawsuit in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, against Yvette Felarca, a prominent Antifa activist who filed a frivolous lawsuit against the Berkeley College Republicans. Thanks to Dhillon’s lawsuit, a judge ordered Felarca to pay $11,000 to former College Republican president Troy Worden.

Dhillon’s new non-profit, Publius Lex, aims to gather financial contributions to protect the civil liberties of all Americans, in an era when they are increasingly under attack by radical activists and "woke" corporations like Google and Facebook.

On Twitter, Dhillon said that the first case taken up by Publius Lex will be Andy Ngo’s.

"Over the past few years I have noticed a distinct gap in the civil rights community, with many of the clients I wanted to represent not fitting within the parameters of the legacy civil rights establishment," said Dhillon in a comment to Breitbart News.

"The ACLU no longer seems to care about the First Amendment or religious liberties; some of the religious nonprofits I’ve worked with have focused on trendy issues, and no one seems to speak for many Americans who feel their fundamental natural and civil rights being violated."

"So I started Publius Lex to provide legal support for Americans whose civil rights are being violated and who are underserved in today’s America."

Iraq
Iraqi forces target ISIS bomb factories in sweeping operation
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces have cleared several villages in Nineveh, Anbar, and Saladin of explosive remnants left by the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) group and shut down workshops used to manufacture improvised bombs (IEDs), the Iraqi defense ministry said Wednesday.

Dozens of IEDs were retrieved and destroyed on Wednesday as "Will of Victory" ‐ a combined operation of the Iraqi Army and Hashd al-Shaabi paramilitias ‐ enters its fourth day, paving the way for displaced civilians to return to their homes.

The Iraqi Army’s brigade 60, supported by the Iraqi Air Force, destroyed seven suspected ISIS hideouts in Nineveh, according a Ministry of Defense statement released Wednesday.

Nine IEDs were destroyed in a controlled demolition and 33 Katyusha rockets seized.

Brigade 43 also destroyed 12 suspected ISIS hideouts in Nineveh, and disposed of six IEDs, according to the statement.

Hashd al-Shaabi, with the assistance of Iraqi jets, destroyed an ISIS vehicle in Nineveh and killed four ISIS suspects. Eleven IEDs were also recovered and destroyed.

This follows the killing of three ISIS suspects in the same province on Monday.

Meanwhile in Saladin province, the Iraqi Army destroyed several more suspected ISIS hideouts and eleven IEDs. It also seized four Katyusha rockets and machinery used to produce IEDs.

In the Anbar village of al-Shwilly, the Iraqi Army destroyed three IEDs.

Mohammed al-Askari, a front man for the Ministry of Interior Staff General, said Monday the operation was initiated after an increase in ISIS activity and the interception of messages from ISIS leaders in Syria telling cells to regroup in western areas of Iraq, particularly Anbar.

"These operations will not end until they reach the last frontiers of Iraq," Askari told news hounds.

The Iraqi Ministry of Defense published a video on Wednesday showing brigade 60 and brigade 28 meeting between Nineveh and Anbar having completed their sweep of these territories.

Iraqi security forces launched the "Will of Victory" operation to target ISIS sleeper cells in Nineveh, Anbar, and Saladin, military officials announced Sunday.

India-Pakistan
Zawahiri's 1st Al Qaeda Video For Kashmiri Terrorists
From the official Indian press communique:
In his first video on Kashmir, al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahari has asked terrorists to inflict "unrelenting blows" on the Indian Army and the government to "bleed" the economy and make India suffer.

In the video, Zawahari, who took over the reins of al Qaeda after the death of Osama bin Laden, said, "I am of the view that the Mujaheddin in Kashmir, at this stage at least, should focus with single mind on inflicting unrelenting blows on the Indian Army and government so as to bleed the Indian economy and make India suffer sustained losses in manpower and equipment."

"All the Pakistani Army and government are interested in exploiting the mujaheddin for specific political objectives, only to dump or persecute them later," Zawahiri said.

The video was posted on As-Sahab channel, an in-house production of al Qaeda used to relay the organisation's views to the world. It also asked the terrorists "to establish stronger channels of communication with their Muslim brethren all over the world".

The video was been checked by the security agencies who believed that it was an attempt to unite the disgruntled terrorist ranks in the valley. While Zawahiri, who spoke in Arabic, did not mention Zakir Musa, the terrorist killed in May by security forces in Kashmir, his photo flashed on the screen as he spoke on Kashmir.

Zakir Musa, founder of the Indian cell of the al Qaeda, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH).
He is succeeded as emir by Abdul Hameed Lelhari (a.k.a. Haroon Abbas)

A taste from the article:
[LongWarJournal] ACCUSES PAKISTAN OF BETRAYING THE JIHADISTS IN AFGHANISTAN AND KASHMIR
The Pakistani military and intelligence establishment has traditionally supported jihadist groups focused on the Kashmiri cause, including outfits allied with al Qaeda. But Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and AGH have argued that the Pakistanis are not trustworthy in this regard. Zawahiri amplifies this critique, but parts of his story are entirely dubious.

In Zawahiri's telling, the Pakistani government and Army are "toadies of America" who prevented the "Arab Mujahideen" from "heading to Kashmir after expelling the Russians from Afghanistan."

KASHMIRI JIHAD PART OF THE UMMAH'S STRUGGLE
A central theme in Zawahiri's message is that the fight in Kashmir shouldn't be thought of as separate conflict, but is instead part of the ummah's (worldwide community of Muslims) jihad against a vast array of forces. The Egyptian al Qaeda chief calls on unnamed scholars to emphasize this point.

"You [the scholars] must clearly state that supporting the jihad in Kashmir, the Philippines, Chechnya, Central Asia, Iraq, Syria, the Arabian Peninsula, Somalia, the Islamic Maghreb and Turkistan is an individual obligation on all Muslims, until sufficient strength is achieved to expel the disbelieving occupier from Muslim lands," Zawahiri says.

In this same vein, Zawahiri says the "mujahideen in Kashmir must benefit from the jihadi awakening in the different theaters of jihad." The fighters in Kashmir "must communicate with the Mujahideen in different parts of the world, and ensure that their voice reaches them, so that the Kashmir issue is raised at the popular level within the ummah and its latest developments are continuously brought to light." Moreover, Zawahiri elaborates, the Kashmiri jihadists "need to establish stronger channels of communication with their Muslim brethren all over the Muslim world."

#2  I read it off an official communique to our press. So actually Rantburg got India news before Indian papers did. ☺

Of course the longwarjournal and our Israeli chaverein is that how we write it ? had seen the Ass-sahab video first. I couldn't upload the video itself so I linked to the article with the most info about it. The Indian newsreader is too busy and disinterested for real information and even if they want it, we don't give a damn. All people here want is theatrics and posturing, which is what I (rightly) presume the story must have turned to.

#3  The NIA (National Investigation Agency) has appropriated almost all accounts, assets and immovable property of most Kashmiri separatist leaders in the past two months. The funding and support of ISI has been cut off entirely. The ground workers are penniless, directionless and almost broken. People whom past governments invited for high tea and discussions about the future of Kashmir and 'human rights' of terrorists, are in jail, getting slapped around and starved.

The resolve of the ISI proxies is weakening in the region, this is a measure by the Egyptian to induce kashmiri muslims for jihad, infuse some 'zeal' into these buggers before we take away everything and shut down this avenue into the subcontinent. The central govt plans to totally extinguish muslim leadership in Kashmir, establish property rights and industry for hindu and other secular communities, and consolidate territorial integrity. This video is to bring them on the jihad-is-for-Allah track, now that the funds and legal support has dried out - to remind the youth that they must fight hungry, sacrifice their lives if need be and fight to death because earlier they were only motivated by abstract ideas of 'freedom' and 'independence'.

#5  our Israeli chaverein is that how we write it ?

The Hebrew for friend is chaver. Since it is a masculine, the plural is chaverim, with the accent on the final syllable. A female friend is chaverah, and the plural is chaverot. But the female case is used specifically when all the friends are female, Hebrew being, like English, a masculine-default language.

#9  Yupp. We're not perfect. And we had help. The similarities to the Israeli problem with the paleos necessitate we learn a lot from each other. The one advantage if it can be called that we have is an uncontrollable anti-muslim absolutist part of society that can be depended on in times of such need. There is nothing the muslim fears more than the sikh or hindu gone berserk. And the vague nature of our secular culture allows for islamic xenophobia to dissipate into ineffectual frustration before it reaches critical stage.

If only America would go back to God. Even a rudimentary revival of customary practices backed by a rehearsed passion would prove mighty effectual against the hollow brutality of muslim mobocrats and their cultural intrusions.

and his business partners are co-accused.

"Tahir Ahsan, the president of Sindh Bank, was arrested in the fake accounts case from Karachi," according to a brief statement issued by the anti-graft body.

Other suspects, namely Syed Nadeem Altaf ‐ who is the executive vice president of Sindh Bank ‐ and Bilal Sheikh, a former president and current director of Sindh Bank, were also apprehended.

"The accused persons will be produced before the respected Accountability Court in Karachi for the grant of transit remand. After remand from the court, the accused persons will be shifted to Islamabad as per law," read the statement.

According to the corruption watchdog, the arrests were made by NAB in Karachi in coordination with the bureau's Rawalpindi team and on the orders of the bureau chairman.

The fake bank accounts case involves alleged money laundering worth billions of rupees through 29 accounts, which were found opened in three banks ‐ Summit Bank, Sindh Bank and United Bank Ltd.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had named PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari, his sibling Faryal Talpur, Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed, his sons and over 10 others as suspects in an interim charge sheet filed in a banking court in August last year.

Iraq
Hormuz Strait tension encourages Iraq to look into other routes
[Rudaw] Iraq is "fearful" of tensions in Strait of Hormuz because much of its oil exports travel through the strategic sea route, Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi says, and his government is working to diversify export routes.

"Of course we are fearful. What I laid out concerning a pipeline through Jordan, or through Fishkhabur, as related to our inflexibility, is part of our fear because Iraq’s oil is exported from southern outlets, particularly through the Hormuz strait," Abdul-Mahdi said on Tuesday.

Iraqi oil is primarily sent to the ports in Basra and to domestic refineries. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) also exports oil through a pipeline that terminates at Ceyhan Port in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Woman killed in shooting at district courts
[DAWN] CHAKWAL: A young woman was killed while a passerby and an accused person were maimed in a firing incident in front of the district courts on Tuesday.

According to police, three people opened fire on four men with whom they are running a legal battle related to a murder case. On June 10, Ghulam Abbas was rubbed out in Choi Jandran village of Kallar Kahar over a petty issue.

Police booked five people in the murder case and arrested one of them. "The other four managed to secure interim bail and came to the district courts for hearing of the case on Tuesday. As they came out of the courts, three relatives of the dear departed opened indiscriminate fire on them," District Police Officer (DPO) Adil Memon told Dawn.

Aqsa Bibi, 25, from Thaneel Kamal village, who had gone to the district courts along with her brother, was hit by bullets and went titzup.

"Aqsa’s brother had to submit his documents for recruitment in the police and she was waiting for him at a roadside when the bullets hit her," the DPO said.

Another passerby, Khawaja Mehmood, from Munday village, sustained a bullet injury while one of the main accused identified as Tabbasam Abbas from Choi Jandran was also injured. He was arrested by the police and is being treated at the District Headquarters Hospital.

France says Javelin missiles found in Libya were ‘unusable’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The French army said on Wednesday several Javelin missiles found in a rebel base in Libya were purchased by the French government from the United States, but were never intended for sale or transfer to any party to the Libya conflict, denying that they were being used by the Libyan National Army.

In a statement sent to news hounds, the Army Ministry said the missiles were intended for the "self-protection of a French military unit deployed to carry out counter-terrorism operations".

"Damaged and unusable, the armaments were being temporarily stocked at a depot ahead of their destruction," the ministry said.

Radiation levels in excess of 100,000 times normal in USSR nuke sub that sank 30 years ago
[ZeroHedge and many others] Researchers in Norway have discovered radiation levels in excess of 100,000 times normal next to a Soviet-era nuclear submarine which sank in the Arctic 30 years ago - a reading which is higher than those taken 12 years ago, according to Norwegian news outlet TV2.

The Kosomolets went down in the Barents Sea in 1989, killing 42 out of its crew of 69, according to the Moscow Times. It is sitting at a depth of 1,665 meters (5,462 ft) with a severely damaged hull from sitting on the seabed for 30 years.

The radioactivity was detected near a ventilation hole which has been observed to kick up 'mysterious' dust clouds.

We have observed a kind of cloud coming out of this hole once in a while. In connection with the test in which we measured pollution, a cloud came out of the hole. This may indicate that the pollution comes out in pulses, says Heldal.

It is assumed that the ventilation hole at the top of the submarine tower is in direct contact with the reactor inside the wreck. This hole will now be monitored extra closely by the researchers the rest of the cruise, which is scheduled to be completed tomorrow. -TV2

"The results are preliminary. We will examine the samples thoroughly when we get home," said Hilde Elsie Heldal of the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research. Heldal believes that the plumes might be caused by ocean currents, tides or other conditions related to the movement of the ocean.

The samples were taken as part of a joint operation between Norway and Russia which set sail from northern Norway on Saturday.

Southeast Asia
Manila says first Filipino ‘suicide bomber’ behind last month’s attack
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Philippine security forces confirmed Wednesday that at least one Filipino "jacket wallah" was behind a deadly attack last month, in a first for the Asian country.

Norman Lasuca and one other yet to be identified suspect blew themselves up outside a military camp on the remote southern island of Jolo on June 28 in an attack that also killed three soldiers and two civilians, the police and military said.

"We can now confirm... the incidence of the first suicide kaboom in the Philippines, perpetrated by a Filipino in the person of Norman Lasuca," military front man Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo told a news conference.

The Jolo bombing marks a worrying escalation of militancy driven by the influence of the ISIS group in Southeast Asia, security experts earlier told AFP.

A decades-old Death Eater insurgency in the southern Philippines has killed tens of thousands.

But suicide kabooms have been used extremely rarely, with imported muscle blamed for the few that have been carried out.

National police front man Bernard Banac described last month’s bombing as "a locally initiated attack organized by the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
group", a Jolo-based gang of murderous Moslems engaged in kidnappings and bombings.

"The report as claimed by ISIS that they are the ones responsible for this is still up to validation and that remains to be seen," he told news hounds, referring to ISIS by an alternative name.

Philippine authorities said the two suspected Jolo bombers’ remains were tested for DNA, and one matched that of Lasuca’s mother and brother, who are both Tausugs, the predominant Moslem ethnic group in Jolo.

Experts are still attempting to identify the second bomber, Banac said.

"Before, we only heard of IED (improvised bomb) attacks, remote-controlled attacks but this time an individual went kaboom! as a full-fledged suicide bomber," Arevalo said.

"We (security forces) will have adjustments in techniques, tactics and procedures given this development," he said.

"We consider this to be an isolated case," he added.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
he acknowledged that "the security environment in our country has changed" and civilians should help the security forces combat the new threat.

They must ensure prospective recruits "won’t be radicalized by terrorist groups (who are) only waiting for the right time and individual to bring to the road of extremism," he said.

Arevalo said Lasuca’s mother described the son, in his early twenties, as a former "battered" child who endured beatings meted out by his father.
