al-Qaeda begins new offensive in Deir Ezzor
BEIRUT: Al-Qaeda-linked fighters on Friday attacked a key central Syrian village at the crossroads between areas under regime control and those controlled by insurgents, activists said. In eastern Syria, meanwhile, regime forces reportedly entered a town that is one of Daesh’s biggest strongholds.

According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Syrian regime forces and allied militiamen entered western parts of Mayadeen, including the town’s wheat silos compound and the sheep market.

The regime-controlled Syrian Central Military Media earlier said that troops were marching south from Deir Ezzor toward Mayadeen, under the cover of airstrikes.

If the report proves true and Syrian troops indeed entered Mayadeen, it would mark another blow for the extremist group, which has lost wide areas of Iraq and Syria in its self-declared caliphate over the past year.

Omar Abou Leila, from the monitoring group DeirEzzor 24, said he could not confirm or deny the report, though he added that it was possible, given the regime forces’ days-long advance.

Airstrikes on Mayadeen and nearby areas over the past days have killed and wounded scores of people, including 15 civilians — women and children among them — who were killed when a missile slammed into a regime-held neighborhood in the city of Deir Ezzor on Thursday evening.

The attack on the village of Abu Dali in central Hama province was led by Al-Qaeda-linked Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham — Arabic for Levant Liberation Committee and also known as HTS. It came two weeks after insurgents attacked a nearby area where three Russian soldiers were wounded.

Earlier this week, Russia’s military claimed the leader of the group was wounded in a Russian airstrike and had fallen into a coma. The military offered no evidence on the purported condition of Abu Mohammed Al-Golani.

The group subsequently denied Al-Golani was hurt, insisting he is in excellent health and going about his duties as usual. The group’s fighters have been gaining more influence in the northwestern province of Idlib and northern parts of Hama, where they have launched attacks on rival militant groups, as well as areas controlled by the government.

Abu Dali had been spared much of the violence and had functioned as a local business hub between opposition-run areas and those under President Bashar Assad’s forces.

The observatory said Al-Qaeda fighters captured several areas in the village on Friday. The HTS-linked Ibaa news agency did not mention the attack but said Russian warplanes were bombing areas the group controls in northern Syria.

Violence in eastern Syria has escalated significantly in recent weeks as Syrian troops with the help of Russian air cover have been closing in on Mayadeen.

The DeirEzzor24 monitoring group said the missile in the Thursday evening airstrike that killed 15 hit near a school in the Qusour neighborhood. Three children and three women were among those killed, the group said Friday, blaming Daesh for the attack. The school and a nearby residential building were destroyed.

The Russian military has accused the US of turning a blind eye and effectively providing cover to Daesh operations in an area in Syria that is under US control.

The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, said that Daesh militants have used the area around the town of Tanf near Syria’s border with Jordan — where US military instructors are also stationed — to launch attacks against the Syrian Army.

He said the area has become a “black hole,” posing a threat to the Syrian regime army’s offensive against Daesh in eastern Deir Ezzor province.

Separately, the Russian military said one of its helicopters had made an emergency landing in Syria but that its crew was unhurt.

According to the Defense Ministry, the Mi-28 helicopter gunship landed in Hama province on Friday due to a technical malfunction. The two crewmen were not injured and were flown back to base. The ministry said the helicopter was not fired upon.

The ministry’s statement followed a claim by Daesh-linked Aamaq news agency, which said the group had downed a Russian helicopter south of Shiekh Hilal village in Hama.

Harvey Weinstein and the Death of 'Feminism'
You don't need the Harvey Weinstein scandal to know that Hollywood is the world's capital of do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do hypocrisy. You only need to be breathing.

From jetting the globe more frequently in private planes than most people go to the supermarket while inveighing against global warming to living in thirty million dollar homes and sending your kids to posh private schools while assailing school choice for the masses to, yes, making movies about sexual assault while assaulting females for decades in the privacy of their offices and swank hotel rooms, Hollywood has done it all!

And indeed it has been this way for decades and everybody who lives and works here knows it. The casting couch never went away. It just moved off the studio lot, for the most part, and went underground, sort of.

Anyone who takes seriously anything said about politics by Hollywood types -- and that includes those tedious and increasingly unfunny individuals known as late-night talk show hosts -- ought to have his/her proverbial head examined.

Mysterious Note Found In Las Vegas Gunman's Room Had Numbers‐No Letters
[Yahoo] Police made the mysterious revelation Friday afternoon, which has left the public with more questions than answers as authorities try to piece together who gunman Stephen Paddock was and why he targeted concertgoers at from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Crime scene photos inside Paddock's room were leaked to the media, showing an array of high-powered rifles littering the ground and mounds of bullet casings.

One graphic photo shows the lower portion of a lifeless body, likely Paddock, lying on the floor of the room.

In the background is a note on a side table.

For days, the mystery around the letter has heightened, but police would only say that it wasn't a suicide note.

Clark County Undersheriff Kevin McMahill said the note, written on a yellow sheet of paper, only had numbers. No letters.

He told NBC News authorities are still trying to piece together what the numbers refer to, but it's possible they may have been range calculations.

Police say Paddock's room was about 500 yards from his targets‐attendees at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a three-day country music concert.

The note is just the latest piece of cryptic information revealed as police have yet to find a motive, a manifesto or any clue that would point to why he snapped.

All of his relatives were bewildered hearing he was behind the attack, the deadliest mass shooting in recent U.S. history. He was a millionaire. Never violent. Wasn't religious or political.

Police have asked for patience as they try to piece together what happened.

So for now, we'll all have to wait.
Try giving it to the folks at 4chan.

Stephen Paddock, Las Vegas shooter, called hotel security before rampage
Apparently the commie fuc& didn't like country music?
[CBSNews] On the night before Stephen Paddock carried out the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history, he twice called security at the Las Vegas hotel where he was staying to complain about loud music, a law enforcement source told CBS News.

The noise was coming from the floor below his suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel casino on the Las Vegas Strip, CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton reports.

Seven Things To Know About Harvey Weinstein's Wife

1 She's pi$$ed.

3 She's pi$$ed.
4 She's pi$$ed.
5 She's pi$$ed.
6 She's pi$$ed.
7 She's pi$$ed.

Harvey Weinstein is in full-on damage-control mode following Thursday’s report, which accuses the powerful producer of multiple incidences of sexual harassment and misconduct.

The New York Times claims Weinstein’s inappropriate behavior has spanned nearly three decades ‐and he’s been married to Georgina Chapmen for the past 10 years. However, the 64-year-old Oscar-winning producer says his wife is standing by him.

"She stands 100 percent behind me," Weinstein tells the New York Post. "Georgina and I have talked about this at length. We went out with [my attorney] Lisa Bloom last night when we knew the article was coming out. Georgina will be with Lisa and others kicking my ass to be a better human being and to apologize to people for my bad behavior, to say I’m sorry, and to absolutely mean it."

Weinstein may be considered an industry power player, but his wife is no wallflower. So who is Georgina Chapman? If you’re not familiar with her, here are seven things to know about the English fashion designer.

1. She’s the co-founder of Marchesa: Chapman, 41, is also a designer for the high-fashion label. She co-founded Marchesa with her close friend Keren Craig, with whom she attended the Chelsea College of Art & Design in her late teens. While studying there, Chapman’s interests shifted from fine art to high fashion. Celebrities Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Sandra Bullock, and Sofia Vergara all count themselves as fans of the brand. Blake Lively even wore Marchesa when she wed Ryan Reynolds.

"When you see her beautiful work, you feel like you’re witnessing a craft that doesn’t exist any longer," Lively reflected to Vogue. "The only designer that really makes you feel like a princess is Marchesa."

2. Weinstein and Chapmen started dating in 2005: The pair met at a party in 2004 but didn’t date right away. Chapman told Vogue, "I had no idea who he was. ... He’s not a person you can sort of ignore or brush off. He’s incredibly charming and so charismatic, it sort of draws you in."

"Unlike her husband, she’s really nice," Weinstein chimed in, talking about himself in the third person. "People will believe that, trust me. Sometimes people don’t associate people who look like that with compassion and that kind of kindness ‐ but that’s who she is more than anyone else."

The pair had a star-studded wedding in 2007, tying the knot in Connecticut in front of celebs like Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Renée Zellweger, and Naomi Watts. The couple went on to have two kids, daughter India, now 7, and son Dashiell, now 4.

3. Chapman credits motherhood with making her more successful: When speaking to Forbes about her success, Chapman admitted she "absolutely" thought about not returning to work but found postpregnancy "I’m not an organized person by nature, but I became very, very focused," she told the publication. "It changed the way I approach work."

Chapman shared with Forbes that being a working mom is "something I wrestle with every day." She added: "But I feel pride, too, because the kids talk about what they’re going to do when they grow up. They don’t see any difference between my hubby and myself in terms of career. I think it’s a very empowering thing for a daughter to see her mother independent, working and having a voice. My mother gave up work when she had me. She’d been a journalist in the British film industry. That was very powerful, too, seeing a strong woman at home. Both situations work. I truly believe if you’re a happy mother, you’re a better mother."

4. Marchesa’s breakout moment has Weinstein roots: Marchesa made its debut on the red carpet in 2004, when the label was worn by one of the biggest names in Hollywood at the time, Renée Zellweger. Fresh off an Oscar win for her performance in Cold Mountain ‐ a Weinstein-backed film ‐ Zellweger donned an embellished red bandeau dress for the premiere of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. At this point, Marchesa was a no-name brand, and Chapman and Craig were running their business out of a flat in West London.

"Maybe I helped, but just very, very little, with Renée Zellweger," Weinstein ‐ who had met Chapman only months before ‐ told Vogue. That same year, Cate Blanchett showed up at The Aviator premiere (another film Weinsten produced) in a Marchesa dress, firmly putting the brand on the map.

At the time, the Los Angeles Times quipped, "Marchesa’s breathtaking success has the fashion world talking ‐ and rolling its eyes, too. Just how much of that success, observers wonder, is due to the Harvey Factor?"

Chapman’s getting the last laugh on that one.

5. She’s incredibly close with her family: When asked by Forbes "what or who can you not live without?" the designer had a telling response.

"My mom, my girlfriends, my husband," she said. "I went to college to learn to be a designer. I didn’t go to college to learn to be a mother, and I feel like that’s the one you don’t want to get wrong! For me, it’s all about having the right people around. My husband is so supportive. My mother is so supportive. My brother is my CEO. My best friend is my business partner. I have a wonderful woman who helps me with the kids. I have the most incredible, loyal team. It just wouldn’t be possible without them."

6. Charity is important to her: Chapman is very involved with the nonprofit Magic Bus, whose mission is to help educate and improve the lives of local children in communities in India. The goal is to create youth leaders while utilizing the power of play. Magic Bus works with local partners to educate and employ these youth, maximizing their potential and breaking the cycle of poverty.

7. Chapman’s motto is "Never say never to anything": During her Forbes interview, Chapman shared that motto, adding, "You just don’t know what’s around the corner. That’s the wonderful thing about life: Who knows what the future holds?"

[Daily Mail] Several people are injured after a car mounted the pavement outside the Natural History Museum in London, according to reports.

#8  The first photo of the series at the Daily Mail article shows the police pinning down a man in a blue shirt. Because of the angle his facial features are hard to make out, but it looks like he has brown skin, not black; short, straight black hair; and a broad nose. If he was, indeed, laughing, it could be hysteria as easily as delight or triumph.

The article was just updated ten minutes ago. Scotland Yard arrested the man, but are treating it as a driving accident rather than terror. I suppose identifying the gentleman in question is easy when he is driving a registered mini-cab, whatever those are.

I really do not understand why the road completely lacked anything to keep pedestrians and cars apart, when they'd just gone to such efforts to put up bollards on the road leading up to Buckingham Palace and other places. Perhaps it was on the list, but fell by the wayside as the Tories have been floundering.

French Special Forces responded to ambush in Niger
[SOFREP] Niamey, Niger ‐ More details continue to come to light on the fateful ambush in Niger on a 12 man team of U.S. Army Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha members, or what is known as a Green Beret ODA, and their Nigerien Army counterparts. French media are reporting that an unknown number of French Special Forces along with French warplanes responded to the 3rd Special Forces Group Green Berets call for help as they fought through withering gunfire from a superior number of insurgents.

The French Special Forces were also in Africa assigned to France’s counter-insurgency mission known as Operation Barkhane. Operation Barkhane which has over 3,000 French military forces along with their special operations units assigned to it, began in August 2014 to quell the rising terrorist presence and activities within Sahel region of Western Africa. Based in the capitol city of N’Djamena, Chad, Operation Barkhane was to be France’s "pillar of counterterrorism operations" with its focus being on al-Qaeda linked and other terrorist organizations within Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and parts of Chad itself.

The French Special Forces have an undisclosed number of its elite forces operating in Burkina Faso that shares a large border with Mali and southwest Niger near the Tongo Tongo region where the ambush on the Green Beret ODA took place.

Vegas shooter 'apple doesn't fall far from tree' theory
[PubMed] Genetic influences on being processed through the criminal justice system: results from a sample of adoptees.

Behavioral genetic research has revealed that antisocial phenotypes are under genetic influence. This study examines whether genetic factors also affect the odds of being processed through the criminal justice system.
METHODS:

A sample of adoptees (n = 191-257) drawn from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health was analyzed. They self-reported on whether they had ever been arrested, sentenced to probation, incarcerated, and arrested multiple times. Assessments were also conducted of the criminal status of their biological parents.

RESULTS:
Adoptees who have a biological father or a biological mother who have been arrested previously are significantly more likely to be arrested, sentenced to probation, incarcerated, and arrested multiple times when compared with adoptees whose biological parents have not been arrested.

CONCLUSIONS:
Adoptees who are genetically predisposed to antisocial phenotypes are at risk for being formally processed through the criminal justice system.

Europe
Manchester Bombing: Salman Abedi's Links To Germany Probed By Police
[DW] Police believe the brother of bomber Salman Abedi met with possible financiers before the attack, reports say. Hashem Abedi has been accused of providing explosives, funding and logistical support for his brother's act.

Now, German news weekly Focus and Cologne daily Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger say Hashem traveled at least twice to Germany.

Investigations by Special Branch, Scotland Yard, MI5 and German authorities reportedly found that Hashem visited the Leipzig and Weissenfels areas in eastern Germany.

Records revealed that on December 17, 2016, he was caught without a ticket on the train from Weissenfels to Leipzig and showed his British driving license to the officials, the outlets reported.

In Weissenfels, which has a large Libyan community, he reportedly met with three real-estate agents who have since been accused by security agencies of being money launderers. One of them was raided by police for tax evasion and violation of labor laws, according to the two outlets. The second was reportedly arrested in Dubai for violating trade embargoes on Libya.

And the third was a Libyan businessman who openly applauded Islamist martyrs on social media and allegedly has close connections to a radical Libyan militia group loyal to deceased Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

Security agencies believe Hashem's journeys in Germany could point to a terrorist financing cell in the country. In May it was reported that just days before Salman carried out his attack, he transited through Dusseldorf Airport on his way to Manchester from Turkey. He was also believed to have been in Germany before, having flown from Frankfurt Airport to Britain in 2015.

Britain
Former British SAS Operator's take on ‘How the West was lost'
[SOFREP] Too little too late, shutting the gate after the horse has bolted and told you so, are all things I’ve heard being said about the latest terror attacks in London not two weeks since ISIS TARGETED AND KILLED CHILDREN in Manchester. In the same breath I hear we shouldn’t have a shoot kill policy, policemen shouldn’t carry guns and promises to investigate British soldiers who committed crimes against terrorists in Northern Ireland all banded about by politicians.

Britain is under attack and we are still debating whether or not we should let illegals stay or go. An election campaign has candidates who have openly sympathized with terror groups and a mayor who thinks we should just expect attacks in our great cities. Has Britain lost the plot?

I have had to scratch my head on more than one occasion this week in disbelief. How can there still be such a liberal attitude to such a dangerous problem. Are people blinkered with fright? Do they genuinely believe it won’t happen if we don’t think about it. The so-called decision makers are doing nothing other than a small display of arrests and a change in alert state from less than a week from severe to critical.

Miami Bank Robber chased, then fatally shot as he bobbed in river
MIAMI (AP) ‐ A Florida bank robbery suspect led police on a wild chase Friday as he carjacked two vehicles at gunpoint, leaped into the Miami River and finally died in a hail of bullets after vowing not to be arrested easily, authorities said.

It began around 7 a.m. when FBI agents and Miami-Dade police officers went to the man’s home north of the city to serve a warrant linked to the Sept. 29 robbery of a Wells Fargo bank branch, Justin Fleck, the FBI acting assistant special agent in charge, said at a news conference.

The suspect, whose name wasn’t immediately released, instead grabbed a handgun and fled ‐ initially on foot, and then in two carjacked vehicles.

The first car was a BMW, authorities said. With officers in pursuit, the man drove erratically through city streets. He then ditched the BMW for a Mazda sports utility vehicle, which he carjacked by waving a gun in the driver’s face.

That driver, Minerva Castellano, told local news outlets she was on her way to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital when the man ran up to her window and told her to get out.

#1  Leave it to the New Yorker to give a career Foreign Service Officer (FSO) the last word (closing paragraph). Mr. Rank's comments capture the essence of the T-Rex conflict and frustration. Something akin to the broken Winchester. It won't work, and the frustrated Texas oil man is unable to fire it.

Foggy Bottom's Mr. Rank at the point of retirement anyway, along with a few other senior FSO's resigns in protest. He then tosses in a grenade as he walks out the door. The ultimate Swamp creatures, they reject both course correction and downsizing.

For good measure and political correctness, the New Yorker throws in the alleged enmity between T-Rex and Nikki Halley with F-Bomb comment and the word 'hate' for emphasis. Of course we all know all successful white men of 'privilege' deplore women.

Who could possibly blame T-Rex for 'pulling the rods.' It's a dry hole. Time to tear down the rig and move on. Life is too short. Who needs it.

#2  Whatever the New Yawker wants should be considered, once known, to be steered around or , better still, avoided completely by going the other way. And who loves or respects a State Department which co-operathed so well with the Obama Administration? Do you have any love for the State Department ? Any Prayers either?
I trust Rex Tillerson, I think he is excellent material.
I read the entire article, it was well researched and effectively written. Its written by someone comfortable with Voting for Hillary( unstated by apparent).
Out in the sticks ( North Georgia Mts. ) where I live, my general attitude to the State Dept. over all is "Screw 'em .
I would be willing to help Rex Tillerson changer a tire if he ever blew a tire on the back road ( nice place and a green view ) where I live. The State Dept. needs a poke in the sis boom bah. Tillerson has the smarts to see what to do. I trust him, its an intuitive decision on my part. But I am not a bad judge of character The Ambassador to China resigned? BYE !
Somehow America will survive him.
And Climate Change ( which the articles real unstated concern) is total Baloney. I welcome Tillerson and I voted for Trump. I WANT to see things shaken up in a LOT of ways.

And just think of what eight years ofTrump is going to be like. Screw the New Yawker and its little puffy poodle to.

Hillary Clinton is the GOP Gift That Keeps Giving
[Townhall] Hillary Clinton refuses to accept reality and is desperately trying to cling to political relevance. She has enjoyed a lifetime of political privilege as a First Lady, a United States Senator, a Secretary of State and a presidential nominee of the Democratic Party. Sadly, she was awarded all of these prestigious positions because of her husband, not due to her own merit.

On her own, Hillary Clinton is a disastrous loser. In fact, she is the most famous two-time presidential loser in U.S. history who should have received a clear message from the American people. The voters of this country do not want her to be President of the United States.

In 2008, she lost the Democratic Party nomination to an unknown and unproven United States Senator. In 2016, as the infamous email disclosure proved, Clinton was the beneficiary of a corrupt Democratic Party nomination process. Despite having a Democratic National Committee giving her every advantage, and CNN giving her advance notice of debate questions, Hillary Clinton barely defeated an elderly socialist Senator for her party’s nomination. In the general election, she lost the presidency to a political novice, Donald Trump, who was facing incredible disadvantages.

Clearly, Hillary Clinton cannot move past her election loss and will not "go quietly into that good night." She is a bitter loser, who is mad at the world and especially livid at the American people. As part of her media tour promoting her new book, "What Happened," Hillary was recently interviewed for the Irish television program, "Late, Late Show." Hillary claimed that the loss was "excruciating." She admitted that she did not even prepare a concession speech and that the loss left her in a "state of shock."

Pakistani military admits links between ISI and militant groups
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Pak military has admitted that the military intelligence of the country, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), has links with the murderous Moslem groups.

A front man for the Pak military, Gen. Asif Ghafoor, told news hounds on Thursday that the intelligence agencies have contacts with the murderous Moslem groups, being part of the duties of such agencies.

"Please understand, ’having links’, and ’supporting’ [gangs] are two different things," he said.

Gen. Asif further added "Name an intelligence agency of any country that does not have links [to gangs]. Everyone does. If you have the links to finish the threat, then that is a positive contribution."

This is the first time the Pak military has publicly admitted the links between its military agency and the murderous Moslem groups.

US approves $15bn THAAD missile system sale to Saudi Arabia
[Iran Press TV] The government of US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
has approved a $15 billion sale of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile systems to Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, a move that the State Department says is aimed at addressing the kingdom's regional concerns.

"This sale furthers US national security and foreign policy interests, and supports the long-term security of Saudi Arabia and the [Persian] Gulf region in the face of Iranian and other regional threats," the department said in a statement on Friday.

The US had already supplied the advanced missile system to Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
and the United Arab Emirates, both Saudi Arabia's neighbors.

The system has also been deployed to South Korea to allegedly address US regional allies' concerns about a possible strike by North Korea, amid ongoing tensions over Pyongyang's ballistic missile tests and nuclear weapons program.

It is now up to the US Congress to approve the deal within 30 days. The State Department said it would advise politicians that, in Saudi hands, the system would "stabilize" the situation in the region and help defend US forces and their allies there.

"The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region," it said, probably referring to Israel's concerns about the Trump administration's extensive arms deals with the Riyadh regime. The government of US President Donald Trump has approved a $15 billion sale of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile systems to Saudi Arabia, a move that the State Department says is aimed at addressing the kingdom's regional concerns.

Catalan standoff touches hearts beyond Spain
[DAWN] The standoff between Madrid and supporters of independence in Spain’s wealthy Catalan region has stirred separatist feelings far beyond the Spanish borders.

Politicians across the globe criticised armed Spanish police who used truncheons and rubber bullets on voters, injuring hundreds in a crackdown on Sunday’s secession vote, considered illegal under Spain’s 1978 constitution.

Several politicians from regions with their own separatist movements said it was time for politics to resolve the crisis in the euro zone’s fourth-biggest economy.

Catalan leaders said the result showed people wanted to leave Spain and they would push ahead with secession. Madrid has ruled out talks until, it said, Catalonia acts within the law.

"The solution is political. It won’t be through repression, it won’t be through brutality, and what needs to happen is a political discussion. I think that’s reality," Quebec’s premier Philippe Couillard told news hounds.

He drew parallels for a potential solution to his own province, which has held two referendums on whether to separate from Canada and the last of which in 1995 was narrowly defeated.

Important information uncovered in relation to Karachi knife attacks, says CM Sindh
[DAWN] Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Friday said that an important clue had been found in relation to the knife attacks on women in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, and that police had reason to believe that two suspects were involved in the attacks.

Since last week, fear has gripped residents of Gulistan-e-Jauhar after multiple reports of at least one attacker stabbing women in the area with a sharp object.

The police have launched a manhunt and an investigation into the motivation and identity of the attacker.

Three First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered ─ two at the Sharea Faisal cop shoppe and one at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar cop shoppe ─ on the complaint of three women who said that they had been attacked by a lone "knife-wielding" motorcyclist.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the chief minister said that there is a reason to believe that two suspects ─ one from Sahiwal in Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

and the other from Karachi ─ are involved in the attacks.

Expressing hope that the real criminal will soon be put behind bars, Shah added that both suspects are yet to be tossed in the calaboose
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
. "We will not let anyone to play with the law," Shah added.

A day earlier, after police claimed to have made a key arrest in the case, another woman was stabbed and injured in Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the evening despite a heavy deployment of police at more than two dozen spots.

The 28-year-old woman, identified as Tahira Bano, was stabbed and maimed by a lone attacker riding a cycle of violence in the busy Rado Bakery area. She was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Islamists to be charged over failed Paris apartment attack
[IsraelTimes] 3 men face indictments for attempted murder and belonging to a terror group over alleged attempt to blow up residential building
The original report can be read here.
Three men, including two suspected Islamic myrmidons, are to be charged over an attempted attack on a Gay Pareeian apartment bloc in a wealthy district of the French capital last weekend, a prosecutor said on Friday.

Top anti-terror prosecutor Francois Molins said the reason the apartment in the western 16th district of Gay Paree had been targeted remains unclear, while no evidence had been found so far linking the suspects to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. terror group.

A major kaboom was averted on Saturday morning when a resident discovered four gas cylinders and "large quantities" of petrol that had been poured in the hallway of the building at 4:30 a.m. local time.

"The power of the blast could have caused major damage," Molins told a presser in his first comments on the case.

Using DNA found at the scene, including on a mobile phone which was meant to have served as a detonator, police jugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
six people.

Three have since been released. The other three are to be charged with attempted murder and belonging to a terror group, including two who had been previously flagged by security officials as suspected Islamic myrmidons.

Also last weekend, a 29-year-old Tunisian man stabbed two cousins to death at the main train station in the southern port of Marseille before being bumped off by soldiers patrolling there.

Five people arrested afterwards were released by police on Friday without charge.

IS claimed the attack but French Sherlocks have so far found no link between the killer and the jihadist group which has faced a series of battlefield defeats in Syria and Iraq.

La Belle France has faced a string of jihadist attacks since 2015 which have left more than 200 people dead.

Attack on shrine
[DAWN] THE illusion of comparative peace, however tenuous, has been shattered. On Thursday evening, at least 20 were killed and over 30 injured when a jacket wallah went kaboom! at the entrance to a Sufi saint’s shrine in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
’s Jhal Magsi district. It being the day of the week considered most spiritually significant, and one on which the shrine was hosting a bimonthly event, the number of devotees present was larger than usual. Had it not been for a vigilant security guard who prevented the attacker from entering the main precinct of the shrine, the number of casualties would have certainly been far higher. This was the first major attack on a shrine after the horrific suicide kaboom at Sehwan Sharif in Sindh on Feb 16, 2017, that left 80 dead and injured more than 250.

Whatever the level of violence that prevails in a country, one is never completely inured to mass casualty attacks. And it takes just one major attack to roll back to some extent, at least psychologically, the gains made in counterterrorism until that point. Clearly, despite many intelligence-based operations in the country, there remain groups of gunnies who believe that anyone who does not espouse their austere brand of faith deserves to be annihilated. In fact, the kaboom at Jhal Magsi was the third major attack on a shrine within the space of a year. A suicide kaboom at the Shah Noorani shrine in a remote part of Khuzdar last November left over 50 dead and around 100 injured. After every such attack, the authorities vow that security will be enhanced at sensitive places, but complacency soon sets in. A couple more aspects are relevant here. Firstly, three out of four major terrorist incidents since the Quetta Civil Hospital bombing last year have been in Balochistan. It is well known that terrorist organizations ‐ including elements from the bully boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group ‐ have found a foothold in the province, despite several operations against them. Several religiously motivated attacks in Sindh have also been traced to them. Secondly, Baloch-majority areas in the province ‐ even where feudalism holds sway, such as in Jhal Magsi ‐ have traditionally had a secular ethos. That is being corrupted slowly but surely by hard-line, radical elements that have insinuated themselves into Baloch society. The only route to a sustained solution is to reverse this trend and indiscriminately eradicate extremism in the province.

Suspected Al Shabaab Attack In Mozambique Leaves Two Police Officers Dead
[RADIOSHABELLE] A group of about 30 men attacked three cop shoppes in the coastal district of Mocimboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado province of northern Mozambique, in an armed raid on Thursday.

The three cop shoppes included the district police command, a police post and a natural resources and environment police patrol station, Inacio Dina, the spokesperson of the General Command of the Mozambican police said in a presser in Maputo on Thursday.

"There was a prompt response from the police; two AK-47 rifles were seized. Unfortunately two coppers from the national protection force were rubbed out, but the police are intensifying its actions to bring the situation under control. We are pleased to inform that two of the gang members were captured and they will provide information for the investigation," said Dina.

The spokesperson said it’s still early to advance any information from the raid particularly to allegations that the attackers are linked to Islamic fundamentalist groups because they were using local languages including Swahili and Portuguese.

Early on Thursday, the initial information released by local individuals suspected that the gang was probably connected to the Somali terrorist group al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
, but there is no evidence for such allegations.

Mocimboa da Praia is a category 3 municipality yet classified as village not city due to its shortage of key infrastructures. Local media reports indicate that three of the attackers were also killed and five more people were maimed in the raid.

The village was closed for business the entire day and the situation was reported back to normal and under control around 18:00.

Cabo Delgado province is one of Mozambique’s richest provinces in terms of mineral resources and it is also one of the country’s major tourist destinations.

Terror list with 37 names is fake, IB chief tells lawmakers

Islamabad on Thursday rejected the remarks by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US military regarding the connections between Pakistain’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and the terrorist groups.

A front man for the ministry of foreign affairs of Pakistain Nafis Zakaria told news hounds "We have time and again rejected these allegations. Moscow faces surge of fake bomb calls, prompting evacuations
Could be jihadis testing systems, could be another amoral idiot savant like that Israeli lad with the brain tumour, doing it for bitcoins from the dark web. Hopefully it will soon be revealed. Filed under War on Terror until evidence says otherwise.
[Ynet] Moscow is grappling with a slew of fake bomb calls that have prompted the evacuation of shopping malls, schools, railway stations and administrative buildings.

The Tass news agency says there were over 100 anonymous bomb warnings in Moscow on Friday. No explosives have been found.

Friday's calls were the latest in a wave of fake bomb threats that have haunted Russia for a month, prompting evacuations of tens of thousands of people and incurring massive economic damages.

Alexander Bortnikov, the director of the Federal Security Service
... the successor to the KGB...
(FSB), the main KGB successor, said Thursday the agency had tracked down four people suspected of engineering the wave of hoaxes. Bortnikov said the suspects were Russians living abroad who had accomplices inside the country, but he wouldn't identify them or describe their motives.
Update at 8:00 a.m. ET from The Times of Israel:
Moscow on Friday faced over 130 fake bomb calls that prompted the evacuation of some 100,000 people from airports, shopping malls, schools, railway stations and office buildings.

Among those targeted by the bomb calls were all four Moscow airports, five railway stations, 15 shopping malls, several hotels, more than 20 schools and many other venues, the state Tass news agency said.

Bortnikov said the suspects were using internet connections to make the calls, making them hard to identify.

Shea-Porter announces she won't seek House re-election
[UNIONLEADER] Rep. Carol Shea-Porter will not seek re-election in 2018 for New Hampshire’s First District seat in Congress, a seat she has held, off and on, since 2006.

"You gave me the great honor of representing our state and being the first woman ever to be elected to federal office from New Hampshire, and the first Democrat to represent New Hampshire’s First District in 22 years," she said in a statement released Friday afternoon.

"I have worked each day with only one thought ‐ to serve our state and our nation. But the time has come in my life to pause and decide on a different path, so I am announcing my intention to leave the House of Representatives in January 2019, when my present term ends."

Shea-Porter defeated Republican incumbent Jeb Bradley for the seat in 2006 and again in 2008 but was defeated in 2010 by former Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta.

In 2012, she defeated Guinta in a rematch but lost to him in the 2014 election.

In 2016, she defeated Guinta for the second time in the fourth straight election involving the two candidates.

"I felt the tug of family at our reunion on Independence Day, and I have continued to feel it," said Shea-Porter. "My family has said repeatedly that they would support any decision I made, and I am grateful to them for that and for all of their love and support through the years."

Police: 'Noose' found in Michigan State dorm was a shoelace
[LANSINGSTATEJOURNAL] An item found on a stairwell door handle in a Michigan State University residence hall and initially believed to be a noose was, in fact, a shoelace, MSU police say.

MSU President Lou Anna Simon released a statement Wednesday morning condemning what appeared to be an instance of racial intimidation and saying, in part, that "No Spartan should ever feel targeted based on their race, or other ways in which they identify."

By Wednesday afternoon, after further investigation, the university offered a different account of what had happened.

A matching packaged shoelace was found outside Holden Hall, the residence hall where the incident was reported, MSU front man Jason Cody said in a news release.

MSU police spoke with the student who lost both shoelaces which "are packaged in a way that someone could perceive them to look similar to a noose," Cody said.

The student who lost the shoelaces lives on the same floor as the student who reported the incident. It was not directed at any individual, Cody said, adding that police believe someone found the shoelace and put it on a stairwell door handle after picking it up off the floor.

Europe
European Commission to suspend all payments to Muslim Aid, OLAF examining issue
[NewEurope] The European Commission intends to suspend all payments to Muslim Aid. The revelation comes after New Europe’s uncovering of over 14 million Euro of Humanitarian Aid financing to Muslim Aid, a UK-based charity that has among other things, been banned in Israel for fundraising for Hamas, an organisation recognised as a terrorist organisation by the European Union.

Responding to New Europe, a European Commission spokesperson confirmed that “the Commission has already notified Muslim Aid of its intention to suspend all pending payments and in line with contractual obligations is currently waiting for Muslim Aid’s reply to the suspension”.

Despite the fact that Israel considers Muslim Aid a fundraiser for Hamas, the European Commission clarified that, “The concerns regarding Muslim Aid of which the Commission has been informed of are not in any way related to allegations of financing terrorism.”

This suggests that the grounds on which the Commission has called for the suspension of funding to Muslim Aid is on different grounds. The Commission was vague – but told New Europe that “The Commission has taken measures to prevent EU taxpayers’ monies from being unduly spent or diverted.”

In a letter dated 22 September to New Europe, after our initial publications, the CEO of Muslim Aid wrote that, “Our Charity is categorically not being investigated for terror ties or any misappropriation of funds. It is therefore incumbent on you to remove your article from your website with immediate effect as it is wholly untrue.”

Muslim Aid has even more problems, as the European Antifraud Office, OLAF, told New Europe that they “are aware of reports regarding possible irregularities involving European Commission Humanitarian Aid managed by Muslim Aid.” As a result, OLAF is currently conducting a preliminary assessment as to whether or not to launch an in-depth investigation into Muslim Aid’s use of EU funding. The OLAF press office told New Europe that “OLAF fully respects the presumption of innocence.” If OLAF opens an investigation that concludes that there was mismanagement of EU funding by an organization, they could be called upon to return some or all of the funding previously received.

Cartel Kidnaps, Incinerates Mexican Border Congresswoman’s Son
[BREITBART] A group of button men presumably with the Gulf Cartel kidnapped and incinerated the son of a former Mexican congresswoman from this border state.
A possible debt with the cartel appears to have been the reason for the kidnapping and murder. Law enforcement sources in Nuevo Leon revealed to Breitbart Texas that the case began when coppers in the town of Santa Catarina received a call about an incinerated man left in a rural field along the highway to Saltillo.

When authorities arrived, they discovered the body of 38-year-old Victor Ibarra Martinez‐who has been identified in a preliminary fashion as the son of the former congresswoman Margarita Martinez. Authorities were not able to formally identify the body since the remains were badly burned. Nuevo Leon law enforcement sources revealed to Breitbart Texas that Ibarra Martinez was considered kidnapped since September 26.

The son of the Mexican politician ran a bar in the Cumbres neighborhood of Monterrey prior to his kidnapping and one of the working theories points to a possible debt to organized crime. Another another scenario indicates the motive had been a kidnapping to pressure the victim’s mother to pay $5 million pesos ($270,000 USD). Next to the victim, the cartel button men left a poster board with the following message: "To the ex-congresswoman Margarita Martinez, from Escobedo: you preferred to let your son die rather than spend your money, Atte. CDG".

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Florida executes Plant City man convicted of killings decades ago
[TAMPABAY] Florida executed an inmate Thursday who was convicted of killing two people after a night of drinking decades ago.

Michael Lambrix, 57, died by lethal injection at 10:10 p.m. at Florida State Prison in Bradford County.

For his final words, Lambrix said, "I wish to say the Lord's Prayer." He recited the words, ending on the line "deliver us from evil," his voice breaking slightly at times.

When he finished and the drug cocktail began flowing through his veins, Lambrix's chest heaved and his lips fluttered. This continues for about five minutes, until his lips and eyelids turned silver-blue and he lay motionless. A doctor checked his chest with a stethoscope and shined a light in both of his eyes before pronouncing him dead.

Corrections spokeswoman Michelle Glady said Bryant's sister was the only victims' family member to attend and she did not wish to speak with news hounds afterward.

Lambrix was convicted of killing Clarence Moore and Aleisha Bryant in 1983 after a long night of partying in a small central Florida town, Labelle, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) northeast of Fort Meyers. Lambrix said he was innocent.

He and his roommate, Frances Smith, had met the victims at a bar, and returned to their trailer to eat spaghetti and continue the party, prosecutors said.

At some point after returning to the trailer, Lambrix asked Moore to go outside. He returned about 20 minutes later and asked Bryant to come out as well, according to Smith's testimony.

Smith testified at trial that Lambrix returned to the trailer alone after the killings, his clothes covered in blood. The two finished the spaghetti, buried the two bodies and then washed up, according to Smith's testimony cited in court documents.

Prosecutors said Lambrix choked Bryant, and used a tire iron to kill Moore. Investigators found the bodies, the tire iron and the bloody shirt.

Lambrix has claimed in previous appeals that it was Moore who killed Bryant, and that he killed Moore only in self-defense.

"It won't be an execution," he told reporters in an interview at the prison Tuesday, according to the Tampa Bay Times. "It's going to be an act of cold-blooded murder."

Government
Agency Checkride Nearly Complete - Pompeo could be headed to Foggy Bottom
[The Hill] Advisers and allies of President Trump have suggested replacing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, according to an Axios report.

Trump is said to have a good rapport with Pompeo, who delivers the President's Daily Brief. According to Axios, Pompeo would be seen by world leaders as a member of Trump's inner circle in a way Tillerson is not.

At the same time, however, White House chief of staff John Kelly has reportedly urged the president against high-level shake-ups before next year, fearing that it would only add to the chaos in the administration.
Results oriented, business executive T-Rex, unfamiliar with the 'swamp' and far too much of a beltway outsider, fails to understand Foggy Bottom inter-agency, swampish nuances. Oh WAIT !

Body of U.S. service member recovered in Niger, raising ambush death toll to four
[WASHINGTONPOST] The Pentagon said Friday that the body of a U.S. service member has been recovered in Niger following a holy warrior ambush Wednesday near the Malian border, raising to four the number of Americans killed in the attack.

Officials have not disclosed the service member’s name or unit affiliation, pending family notifications. It was not immediately clear how the service member became separated from other Americans on the patrol, precisely when the body was recovered or if the service member had fallen into enemy hands.

A small group of U.S. and Nigerien troops were conducting a reconnaissance patrol when they encountered dozens of heavily armed forces of Evil riding in pickup trucks. A pair of French Mirage fighter jets and other aircraft were scrambled in response to the attack, presumably to hunt for the missing service member and provide support for those on the ground.

On Friday, U.S. officials identified three of the fallen soldiers as Staff Sgt. Bryan Black, 35, of Puyallup, Wash.; Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, 39, of Springboro, Ohio; and Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright, 29, of Lyons, Ga. All were assigned to the Army’s 3rd Special Forces Group, which is based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina and serves as the primary unconventional-warfare unit operating in Africa.

3 men arrested in alleged ISIS-inspired plot targeting New York City
[ABCNEWS.GO] Three men have been tossed in the clink
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
in three different countries after they allegedly plotted to "create the next 9/11," federal prosecutors revealed today after unsealing a case first brought more than a year ago.
The mills of justice were grinding slowly on that other president's watch.
The alleged plot was to have been carried out in the summer of 2016. Court records said the planned attacks included detonating bombs in Times Square and in the New York City subway system, and shooting civilians at concert venues. The alleged plot was described as more aspirational than operational.

According to court documents, Abdulrahman el Bahnasawy, a 19-year-old Canadian citizen, allegedly purchased bomb-making materials to use in attacks in New York City. He was arrested in May 2016 in New Jersey, where he had rented a cabin within driving distance of New York City, according to court documents.

El Bahnasawy had allegedly traveled to New Jersey from Canada, he allegedly purchased bomb-making materials -- including 40 pounds of hydrogen peroxide -- that he shipped to an undercover FBI agent to whom he allegedly expressed an intention of carrying out Gay Paree- and Brussels-like terror attacks in New York City, court documents state.
The Daily Mail adds:
Prosecutors on Thursday unsealed charges against Canadian citizen Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy, 19, Philippine citizen Russell Salic, 37, and Talha Haroon, a 19-year-old US citizen residing in Pakistan.

All three were arrested months ago, but the charges had been sealed as investigators with the FBI and NYPD Counterterrorism Unit searched for possible co-conspirators.

Prosecutors say the three men plotted to bomb and shoot up heavily populated areas of New York City during the Islamic holy month of Ramadhan in 2016.
Update from Ynet at 9:00 a.m.:
A Filipino doctor accused of plotting terror attacks in the United States was arrested months ago in the Philippines for his alleged involvement in kidnappings and beheadings blamed on pro-Islamic State group militants, an official said Saturday.

Chief State Counsel Ricardo Paras said a Manila court is weighing a US government request that Russell Salic be extradited to face terrorism financing complaints.

Even if the court approves the US extradition request, the Department of Justice in Manila would have to decide whether to let Salic face criminal complaints in the Philippines first or be allowed to be flown to the US to answer the terrorism allegations there, Paras said.

This Week in Guns, October 7th, 2017

By Chris Covert
Rantburg.com

A few points to raise on the Las Vegas incident:

The Physics

The range between Steven Paddock and his 22,000 targets was between 400 and 600 meters. I have heard from several people who believe that range is unusually long for the 5.56mm. However, Terrance Popp said that 400 to 600 meters was in fact a nominal range for the 5.56mm.

Russian armorers set the range for their 5.45mm AK-74 rifle at 400 meters. Ukrainian GRU Colonel Igor Bezler in 2016 remarked in the aftermath of a tactical engagement between the rebels of the Donbas and the Ukrainian Army how rebel riflemen were able to gain the upper hand in firing their rifles on Ukrainians at 300 to 400 meters.

How does this apply? It doesn't.

Most of those riflemen were in their late teens and older. Paddock was 64 years old, aiming and shooting in a visually impaired environment with darkness and lights from a country music show distorting his sight picture. Even firing from an elevated position with his eyesight corrected, I doubt he could see his targets. The Eotech sight he had was almost useless in such an environment because he was using a slide fire mechanism.

Which explains in part why only 159 people were actually struck by gunfire. Even firing pseudo-automatic fire, with a large target (a mass of people) before him, he still had to find something to hit. Watching the videos of the start, it was several minutes before the crowd realized they were being gridded by rifle fire and decided to leave or find cover.

All of which shows that Paddock was an amateur, firing rifles, perhaps not the first time, but the first time in anger. Even if he was completely benumbed by the carnage he was causing, it was because he probably could not even see how he was doing. I routinely use the 200 meter band at the gun range, in daylight with corrected eyesight in a relaxed atmosphere. 200 yards for me is a stretch to see a target, so at 300 yards and beyond I would not be able to see anything. Forty years ago, it would not have been as much of an issue.

If Paddock had better optics, more practice and chucked the slide fire mechanism, he could have done much more damage, especially had he fired his weapons in semiautomatic mode, in my opinion. Pseudo-automatic rifle fire is more tacticool than being efficient with your firearm, doncha know.

And then there is the issue of ammunition. At the moment we do not know if he bought ammunition with the same bullet weight. Firing in those ranges, bullet weight would have had a significant impact on where his rounds hit.

Conspiracies

My favorite theory in the Cool Story, Bro mode, was that Paddock was a gun runner who met with ISIS operatives, who then killed him and committed the massacre. The flaw in that theory is that a gun runner would not try to sell traceable guns that he had bought from a gun shop. His market would be almost entirely in stolen firearms, either from individuals, criminal gangs or from government armories.

Another flaw is where Paddock's showroom was: in a busy Las Vegas hotel crawling with security. Were I a gun runner, I would keep a warehouse in the middle of nowhere with security cameras, hungry dogs and booby traps. You meet somewhere other than where your wares are, and you send intermediaries. Paddock had the money for all that.

Also, if Paddock was going to sell illegal firearms, he should have had at least some security, armed steroid boys and former operators in the room with him.

Another theory is that Paddock was an FBI agent in the same gun running scenario trying to catch Bad Guys with guns bought in a gun shop. Jeez, at least set up a theft before you go claiming that.

Finally, Nancy Sinatra wants you dead if you are an NRA member. And we wonder where men like Paddock draw their inspiration for committing mayhem.

Loads.

Rantburg's summary for arms and ammunition:

Pistol ammunition prices were steady. Rifle ammunition prices were mostly higher.

Prices for used pistols were mixed. Prices for used rifles were mostly higher.

I said last week that ammunition prices should continue following a lower price trend until the holidays, when a spike in price would be expected.

Last week's massacre in Las Vegas may have caused a spike in prices for 5.56mm cartridges, with prices increasing $0.02 each. It may not mean much, but that is a 10 percent spike. Whether prices will continue to increase remains to be seen. A lot of ARs have been dumped on the used market since early last summer, so concomitantly demand for ammunition would necessary decrease. This is why the price increase is so significant.

It s unclear at the moment, since it has been only six days since the Las Vegas incident, how suppliers play into the increase.

#1  I really believe the guy was simply miserable, had serious emotional issues. People had noticed him acting out in public against his wife.

My opinion via a comment late yesterday I made on a post here is since he had never done this before so he brought all of these weapons in as a security blanket. He possibly expected a huge fire fight with the police. However, he most likely had quite a few drinks before firing away on the crowd below. Now on an emotional roller coaster and drunk I think he decided to go ahead and commit suicide before being incapacitated by a police round and didn't want to survive to face the wrath of a nation. And maybe having a personal goal of out doing his biological father who was on the FBI's nation's 10 most wanted list.

Who can ever comprehend the mind of mass murderers? Like the kid at Sandy Hook, the two kids at Columbine, or Islamists who fly jet airliners full of people into sky scrapers full of people, or the NK leader who strapped people onto anti-aircraft guns and wants to Nuke his neighbors? Unfortunately they will always be with us and we will always have to keep that in the back of our minds wherever we go.

China-Japan-Koreas
James Stavridis: An expert's assessment on US options over North Korea
[Asian Review] As the doomsday rhetoric intensifies between two untested and inexperienced leaders in Pyongyang and Washington, the risk of actual combat is rising.

At the United Nations, U.S. President Donald Trump shocked most of the U.N. General Assembly by threatening to "totally destroy" North Korea to end the "suicide mission" of its "Rocket Man" leader. North Korea has threatened to create a "sea of fire" in both South Korea and the U.S. On Sept. 23, U.S. B-1 bombers flew close to North Korea's east coast on what the Pentagon said was a mission to demonstrate the military options available to Trump. The U.S. president warned that Kim Jong Un and his foreign minister, Ri Yong Ho, "won't be around much longer" if they continue their rhetoric.

So what are the military options that the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. military could put in front of the president?

FIRST STEPS At the lower end of the spectrum of force, the first set of options would dramatically increase missile defense, both in South Korea and on U.S. territories such as Guam. This would include three elements: greater deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, an anti-ballistic missile system for broad area coverage; more Patriot missile batteries ashore for defense of specific locations; and at-sea Aegis missile defense, which has the best overall kill ratio against incoming targets and extreme flexibility in positioning.

Beyond bolstering missile defense, the Pentagon will look at how to implement a full-blown naval blockade. This would reduce outgoing exports, helping choke the North Korean economy, prevent incoming shipments of oil and oil products, and stop exports of North Korean weapons, a source of cash for the regime. Such a blockade would require a couple of dozen smaller surface ships (destroyers, frigates, corvettes), as well as an aircraft carrier for air cover and a large command-and-control ship to run the complex operation.

#2  If the United States does a complete Blockade ( the EXTENSIVE deployment of anti missile units to South Kore and our own territories is wise...a LOT of them ) Get the factories that produce this tech on war production footing. Keep it coming. Get more people trained as fast as possible, deploy them too.

Enforce Sanction ruthlessly...if you fook with the Bull we squash your cods .
Cruise missiles ( all over the place ) and if we get a fix on the little bastard. ( He has to let it slip sometime ). We kill him so fast he doesn't know he's dead.
Then we stealth bomb whatever we like and we eat breakfast and check the maps for more targets. China can squeal but they won't die for North Korea, but they might invade and gobble up a struggling dying neighbor.

The UN will piss and stand in it. We will read their note and throw it in the circular file, Iran will take it to heart. No body laughs. Give japan a few hi tech anti missile systems. See if Yamato dash is still around. The Democrats will predictably queer the Troops. But then, that is what Democrats are. And we can take notes on who backs out among the Republicans.
Put them on the Fairy Boy Roster at Vote time.

Something else predictable. The American People will back the war for all of about ten minutes.... so make it fast.

The West Point and US Army 2LT Spencer Rapone Nightmare Continues
[MIL Corruption.com] This is a public relations nightmare. Worse than when a West Point grad and JAG officer was arrested by the FBI for sodomizing his infant son and recording the act on video. You can read all about it in the RSB below.

So far, the PAO shop has been lucky. The mass murdered in Las Vegas has grabbed up most of the headlines. But that may be about to come to an end. The disturbing case of Commie cadet and now 2LT Spencer Rapone is not going away anytime soon.

Some of you will recall he's the leftist punk who wrote inside his saucer cap "Communism will win," flashed the slogan at his 2016 USMA graduation and gave the clenched fist "salute." In another in-your-face pix, he is shown unbuttoning his uniform tunic to reveal a t-shirt emblazoned with the face of Cuban killer Che Guevara.

Four Yemeni soldiers killed in 'al-Qaeda' attack
[ALARABY.CO.UK] Four Yemeni soldiers were killed and seven others maimed on Friday in a suspected al-Qaeda suicide boom-mobileing in the southern province of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
, a security source said.

The attack targeted a commander of the UAE-backed Yemeni government forces in Khanfar area, Abu Abdullah al-Shaneeni, who suffered wounds, the source said.

Government troops have recently scored key victories against al-Qaeda Death Eaters in Aden, Abyan and Lahaj provinces which prompted the group to launch counterattacks.

North Korea preparing long-range missile test: RIA cites Russian lawmaker
[REUTERS] North Korea is preparing to test a long-range missile which it believes can reach the west coast of the United States, a Russian politician just returned from a visit to Pyongyang was quoted as saying on Friday.

Anton Morozov, a member of the Russian lower house of parliament’s international affairs committee, and two other Russian politicians visited Pyongyang on Oct. 2-6, Russia’s RIA news agency reported.

"They are preparing for new tests of a long-range missile. They even gave us mathematical calculations that they believe prove that their missile can hit the west coast of the United States," RIA quoted Morozov as saying.

"As far as we understand, they intend to launch one more long-range missile in the near future. And in general, their mood is rather belligerent."
Perhaps this is the one time we should believe a Russian.

Mercer: The Americans targeted in Vegas are what makes America great
[American Thinker] A man, Sonny Melton, 29, died, shielding his wife from the bullets.

Another commandeered a truck to drive victims of the Oct. 1 massacre in Las Vegas to the hospital.

At first, Vanessa, a concertgoer, fled the Vegas venue, which was being sprayed with bullets from high-velocity rifles. Then she turned and ran back. She credits her professional sense of duty as a nurse. We all know that it was Vanessa's heart that enabled her to push past the fear and place herself in the crosshairs.

From her hospital bed, Addison Short profusely thanked a stranger who had helped her escape the confines of the country music concert in the Vegas Village. She was hobbled by a gunshot to the leg. The first words Addison uttered to the ego in the anchor's chair quizzing her were words of gratitude for her rescuer. Short also gave thanks for having a minor injury.

'Guantanamo Article' Scrapped as Tougher Anti-Terrorism Bill Nears Enactment
[JAKARTAGLOBE.ID] A controversial article on preventive detention under a proposed anti-terrorism bill expected to be passed later this year has been dropped, politicians said on Friday (06/10).

The bill is likely to be brought into a plenary meeting in December after nearly two years of deliberation that has come amid fears over a rise in militancy inspired by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
The tougher government-proposed bill has drawn the ire of human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
defenders who have especially decried what has been called the "Guantanamo article."

The article would have allowed police Sherlocks or prosecutors to pick up and place suspected bandidos murderous Moslems in unspecified locations for up to six months without charge.

"The article has completely been removed in line with public demands," politician Arsul Sani told the Jakarta Globe, adding that the article had been revised into what is called the "prevention article."

The article mainly sought to heighten deradicalization efforts, according to Arsul, a member of the working committee for revisions to the 2003 anti-terrorism law.

Most politicians staunchly objected to the article and the government itself eventually moved to scrap what they had earlier proposed, politician Supiadin Aries Saputra said.

"It hasn't been discussed yet, but they already dropped it recently," Supiadin, deputy head of the committee, told news hounds.

Lawmakers also earlier agreed on a pre-charge detention period of up to 21 days. This compares to the 30 days the government had earlier proposed and the seven days already stipulated under an existing 2003 law.

The period of detention with charge of 180 days under the 2003 law was also extended up to 200 days. The government had earlier proposed 450 days.

The government moved to revise the 2003 law in January last year, when Indonesia was on high alert after an Islamic State-linked bomb and gun attack in Central Jakarta that killed four.

Stymied police seek help in uncovering Vegas gunman’s motive
[IsraelTimes] Nevada authorities say no 'clear motive' in mass shooting, appeal to public for help in ongoing investigation

After five days of scouring the life of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock and chasing 1,000 leads, Sherlocks confessed Friday they still don’t know what drove him to mass murder, and they announced plans to put up billboards appealing for the public’s help.

In their effort to find any hint of his motive, Sherlocks were looking into whether he was with a hooker days before the shooting, scrutinizing cruises he took and trying to make sense of a cryptic note with numbers jotted on it found in his hotel room, a federal official said.

Stoking Islamophobia and secession in Texas -- from an office in Russia
[CNN] On May 21 2016, a handful of people turned out to protest the opening of a library at an Islamic Center in Houston, Texas. Two held up a banner proclaiming #WhiteLivesMatter. A counter-protest began across the street; video shows a noisy but non-violent confrontation.

The rally -- called "Stop Islamization of Texas" -- was called and promoted by a Facebook page called Heart of Texas, which had wrongly alleged that the Islamic library had received public funding. But the Heart of Texas page listed no contacts in the Lone Star state. In fact, it was operated by a "Troll Factory" called the Internet Research Agency thousands of miles away in St Petersburg Russia, CNN has learned.

One of the people who attended the rally later complained: "Heart of Texas promoted this event but we didn't see ONE of them."

The Houston rally sheds light on an effort originating in Russia to sow discord in the U.S. through social media; in this case it had real impact on the ground.

A source familiar with the matter tells CNN that Heart of Texas was among the 470 accounts and pages that Facebook turned over to Congress, following its investigation into ads generated by the Internet Research Agency. Neither the Facebook page nor a companion Twitter account @ItsTimeToSecede is still accessible. The link between Heart of Texas and the Russian campaign was previously reported by Business Insider.

It's not just Heart of Texas that embraced secession. The potential secession of Texas and other states has also been a popular subject for RT America, the Russian state-funded television network that's widely available in the US. France's 'Mama Jihad' jailed for 10 years for encouraging jihadist son
[TheLocal.fr] A Frenchwoman, nicknamed "Mama Jihad", who tavelled to Syria three times to support her jihadist son was handed a 10-year jail sentence on Friday in the latest case against parents of Isis fighters.

Christine Riviere, 51 was convicted of being part of a terrorist organization.

She was given the maximum sentence her"unfailing commitment" to jihad and for helping a number of young women travel to Syria as part of her attempts to find a bride for her son Tyler Vilus, with whom she was described as having an "inseparable relationship".

Vilus travelled to Syria to fight alongside the Islamic State

group. He is believed to have been close to Abdelhamid Abaaoud, one of the criminal masterminds of the Gay Paree terror attacks.

Riviere, who has been nicknamed "Mama Jihad" in the French press, visited him three times in 2013 and 2014.

She told the court she feared he would not return home.

She was locked away

in July 2014 as she was preparing a fourth visit.

She was accused of helping him financially but also of sharing his fanatical ideas and was found to have shared jihadist propaganda online, including videos of decapitations.

Her son Tyler was arrested in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

for two years after she was convicted of wiring cash to her son in Syria.

Nathalie Haddadi, (see photo below) 43, insisted she did not know how her son Belabbas Bounaga spent the money she wired to him and said the conviction was a "double punishment" for a grieving mum.

"I have trouble understanding how they can accuse me of financing terrorism," Haddadi told news hounds before hearing the verdict.

"I helped my son," she said, while insisting she had never sent money to Syria.

The judge said Haddadi had known "perfectly well" that her son was using the money to travel to Syria and that the sentence was in keeping with "the gravity" of the acts.

Fifth Column
Why Are Mainstream Charities Funding The Anti-Trump 'Resistance'?
[INVESTORS] Among the more volatile, extreme and dangerous political movements to arise within a major American political party in recent U.S. history is the so-called "resistance" to President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
. What's especially disappointing is finding out who is behind it.

An investigation by the Washington Free Beacon looked into the progressive community organizing group called the Center for Community Change Action (CCCA), which has spearheaded the anti-Trump "resistance." What the Beacon found by looking at the group's unredacted tax returns was surprising: Far from being funded by like-minded activists and grass-roots contributions, the anti-Trump CCCA is secretly funded by major charities with respectably wholesome, centrist images. In some cases, the charities fund other Commie activist groups, too.

Among those giving money to the CCCA ‐ which, the Beacon notes, "has been involved in direct action against President Donald Trump and Republicans before and after the November elections" ‐ include the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Ford Foundation and billionaire George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
' Open Society Foundation, which have together funneled millions of dollars to the anti-Trump, anti-conservative, anti-Republican activist group.

Kellogg alone gave $3 million, while the Ford Foundation ponied up $2.3 million. Soros delivered a cool $1.75 million to the anti-Trumpistas.

And there were others, among them the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Endowment (created by the 1996 acquisition of WellPoint Health Networks by Blue Cross of California), $524,500; the Marguerite Casey Foundation (started by UPS founder Jim Casey), $515,000; and the National Immigration Law Center, $316,000.

Yes, these bland-sounding charities and others help fund the far-left "resistance," arguably damaging our democracy in the process. Sadly, in most cases, if these charities' founders were alive today, they would be deeply ashamed and, perhaps, even enraged.

So how can charities that began as dispensers of aid and advice to the needy and to local community groups have morphed into funders of chaos and anti-democratic activism, against their original founders' wishes?

Well, as with all organizations in the U.S., over time even the most well-meaning and well-run charities eventually get taken over by the far-left and progressives. It's a tried-and-true tactic, one that has worked not just in charities but in local school districts, university administrations, local governments, the federal bureaucracy, even in the arts.

And it's not an accident.

Italian Marxist-strategist Antonio Gramsci, who died in 1937, called this the "long march through the institutions." The website Discover The Networks describes the Marxist theorist's ideas thusly: "Gramsci called for Marxists to actively spread their ideology in a gradual, incremental, stealth manner, by infiltrating all existing societal institutions and embedding it, largely without being noticed, in the popular mind."

PBS had thanked the Ford Foundation for funding its "investigations".

Could an Islamic State ‘virtual caliphate’ be defeated?
[SCMP] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
may soon be defeated in Iraq and Syria but a "virtual caliphate" could be harder to conquer, experts and officials have warned.

The bully boy propaganda machine will continue to exist in hidden corners of the dark web, inciting sympathisers to action, they say.

"Defeating [IS] on the physical battlefield is not enough," General Joseph Votel, the top commander for US military forces in the Middle East, warned in a paper earlier this year.

"Following even a decisive defeat in Iraq and Syria, [IS] will probably retreat to a virtual safe haven ‐ a virtual caliphate ‐ from which it will continue to coordinate and inspire external attacks as well as build a support base until the group has the capability to reclaim physical territory," said Votel.

He described this online network as "a distorted version of the historic Islamic caliphate: it is a stratified community of Moslems who are led by a caliph (currently His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Abu Graeb jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
), aspire to participate in a state governed by sharia, and are located in the global territory of cyberspace."

Islamic State’s loss of almost all its territory in Iraq and in Syria has damaged its online communication efforts, following a boom in propaganda operations in 2014-2015.

But it has not put an end to it.

The IS "news agency" and propaganda machine Amaq continues to claim responsibility for attacks and incite further violence.

Most recently, it claimed that Stephen Paddock, the gunman who massacred 58 people in Las Vegas on Sunday, was an IS "soldier" ‐ an assertion met with widespread scepticism.

One theory is that IS is seeking to keep up publicity efforts to maintain relevance with its sympathisers and continue to recruit support, even as it faces military defeat on the ground in Iraq and Syria.

#1  Never got rid of the virtual Commie State either. That's buried in the institutions doing much damage.

The virtual caliphate is weak sauce by comparison.

National Security Adviser Gen. H.R. McMaster appoints Mike Barry to oversee intelligence community on NSC
[Axios] National Security Adviser Gen. H.R. McMaster has appointed Mike Barry to oversee the intelligence community on the National Security Council, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the decision.

Barry, who served in the intelligence community, replaces Ezra Cohen-Watnick, the intel operative who was appointed by Gen. Mike Flynn and gained notoriety as he fell out with McMaster and was eventually ousted, despite being in the unusual position of having warm relationships with both Steve Bannon and Jared Kushner. (Barry's appointment was first foreshadowed — in pejorative terms — by Mike Cernovich, a controversial online foe of McMaster's.)
With that DIA tissue finally removed from his shoe, H.R. McMaster quietly migrates to Director, CIA and the real locus of power.

The EU also joined India in condemning the terror attacks in Pathankot, Uri, Nagrota, Anantnag and Srinagar alongside assaults in Gay Paree, Brussels, Nice, London, Manchester and Barcelona. The two sides also reaffirmed their determination to jointly combat terrorism and violent extremism "irrespective of their motivations, wherever and by whomever they are committed".
