Secretary of State John Kerry accused Russia and Syrian dictator Bashar Assad of committing war crimes in their assault on rebel-held territory, including hospitals and aid workers, and called for an investigation.
"Russia and the regime owe the world more than an explanation about why they keep hitting hospitals, medical facilities, children and women," Kerry said before a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault. "These are acts that beg for an appropriate investigation of war crimes and those that commit these would and should be held accountable for these actions. They're beyond the accidental now, way beyond, years beyond the accidental. This is a targeted strategy to terrorize civilians and to kill anybody and everybody who is in the way of their military objectives." Apparently Jawn, despite being was in Vietnam, doesn't understand the international law on war crimes - you have to defeat somebody before you can try them for war crimes.

[World Post] LOS ANGELES - The California university researcher killed in Ethiopia protests was a brilliant scientist with an infectious smile who was studying the effects of climate change at the time of her death, the colleague who was traveling with her said on Thursday.
Sharon Gray, a 31-year-old postdoctoral scientist at the University of California, Davis, was riding through Addis Ababa with her co-researcher Siobahn Brady when their car was attacked by demonstrators hurling rocks.
Brady was not hurt in the incident and was returning to the United States, according to the university. The U.S. State Department was assisting in bringing Gray’s body home.
"She had an infectious smile and giggle, a calm and patient nature and she was truly committed to helping people through her studies of plant biology. I and her colleagues and friends in my lab will miss her intensely," Brady said in a written statement.
"These last hours of her life and the past day have been incredibly difficult and we ask for your respect for the privacy of my lab group, our project members and her colleagues while we mourn," she said.
The two women were the lead researchers on study to understand the response of plants to climate change with the Netherlands Institute of Ecology and were in Addis Ababa for a "kick off meeting," Brady said, calling Gray a future leader in her field.
On her Twitter page Sharon Gray described herself as an "outdoor adventurer, traveler, foodie" as well as a postdoctoral fellow. A memorial page posted by the university was filled with photos of her in fields of crops, rock-climbing and hiking, surrounded by friends.

Are there no plants in safer parts of the world that are affected by "climate change"?
Seems rather far afield to me. If an impact is so localized it would seem problematic that climate change has anything to do with it......unless you're talking about the climate of hatred amongst warring tribes.
[The Hill] When FBI Director James Comey announced that he would not recommend prosecution of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for violation of the Espionage Act (Title 18, United States Code, Section 793), he made a decision based upon political considerations, not based upon principles of criminal law or justice.
There are five key points to be made in analyzing the director's very flawed recommendation:
Tim Kaine repeatedly defended Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during Tuesday night’s vice-presidential debate. "The FBI did an investigation," he said at one point, "and they concluded that there was no reasonable prosecutor who would take it further." But such a statement is credible only if it follows a real criminal investigation--that is, the sort of investigation that the FBI and the Justice Department conduct when they actually care about a case and want convictions.
We know all too well what that kind of investigation looks like, as two of the lawyers who defended a recent target: former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell. That story had a happy ending for the governor and his wife. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled in their favor this summer and all charges were dropped in September. But their victory certainly wasn’t due to lack of investigatory zeal on the part of the FBI and Justice Department.
Below are only a few of the heavy-handed tactics federal investigators used to build their case against the McDonnells. See how they compare to how Mrs. Clinton was treated.
Conduct ambush interviews. The first contact between law enforcement and the McDonnells was an ambush interview of the governor’s wife. The agents lied to her about the topic of the meeting, forbade Gov. McDonnell’s staff from attending, and then grilled her on their suspicions about potential public corruption. Statements from that interview later took center stage in the trial of her and her husband.
In Mrs. Clinton’s case, no ambush interviews were conducted, and witnesses were generously accommodated. The FBI and Justice Department even allowed a fact witness and potential target— Cheryl Mills, formerly the State Department’s chief of staff—to simultaneously represent Mrs. Clinton as her counsel.
Immunize only witnesses who can help deliver convictions. One person in Gov. McDonnell’s case got immunity: Jonnie Williams, the prosecution’s star witness. For his testimony, Mr. Williams earned a wealth of blanket immunity—not simply from potential bribery prosecution but also from unrelated crimes he might have committed (including securities and tax fraud). Reluctant witnesses—Gov. McDonnell’s children and friends—were called before a grand jury and forced to testify.
Contrast that with Mrs. Clinton’s case. Much of her staff was immunized in exchange for simply meeting with investigators. None of them appear to have been pressed for information, or given any incentive whatsoever to spill on the boss.
Investigate and charge all potential crimes. Prosecutors in Gov. McDonnell’s case collected more than five million pages of documents and filed charges for every potential crime they could. In addition to the corruption charges, the governor and his wife were accused of lying to banks and obstructing justice. The jury acquitted the McDonnells of the former, and the trial judge ruled there was insufficient evidence of the latter. But the prosecutors pursued these charges vigorously, despite their lack of merit.
For Mrs. Clinton, there appears to have been no investigation into crimes beyond the mishandling of classified information. In particular, the FBI seems to have readily accepted Ms. Mills’s claim that she did not learn about Mrs. Clinton’s private server until after both of them had left the government. This is implausible on its face, since the two were in regular email contact while working at the State Department. It is also contradicted by a witness who administered the server, as well as by Ms. Mills’s own emails. These sorts of inconsistencies were enough to get Mrs. McDonnell, Scooter Libby—former Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff—and others indicted for allegedly covering up crimes. In Mrs. Clinton’s case, they weren’t even investigated.
Construe “corruption” broadly. Investigators of Gov. McDonnell took the most expansive possible reading of the law. They argued to the Supreme Court this spring that it was a felony for the governor to arrange meetings between a benefactor and other government officials, even without trying to sway the ultimate decision.
Yet the FBI appears to have done no investigation into how Secretary Clinton’s conduct while in office was affected by massive donations to the Clinton Foundation or large payments for speeches given by her husband, former President Bill Clinton. Journalists have unearthed extensive evidence of special treatment: The Associated Press reported that during the first half of her tenure, Mrs. Clinton had meetings or phone calls scheduled with 154 private interests; 85 were Clinton Foundation donors, who in total had pledged or given as much as $156 million.
Claim that concealment proves consciousness of guilt. In Gov. McDonnell’s case, there was no evidence—none—that he ever suspected his conduct could be criminal. Prosecutors tried to show criminal intent by arguing that he “hid” gifts by declining to list them on annual disclosure forms. But Gov. McDonnell complied with Virginia’s disclosure requirements in virtually all respects. The law simply did not require much information to be disclosed. Further, many of his family and staff knew about the gifts. Still, prosecutors claimed that failure to tell the public sufficed to prove a guilty mind.
FBI Director James Comey said that in Mrs. Clinton’s case there was no evidence of criminal intent. Yet she set up a private email server in her basement and permanently deleted thousands of the emails it contained. A plausible motive would be shielding her activities from public scrutiny. The Comey standard—that direct evidence of knowing criminality is needed to prosecute—is certainly not the one that his agency and the Justice Department applied to Gov. McDonnell for more than three years.
To be clear, we aren’t endorsing these heavy-handed tactics, many of which are befitting Inspector Javert of “Les Misérables.” But these are the sorts of things investigators do when they are serious about bringing criminal charges. In deciding whether the investigation into Mrs. Clinton was a real one—as opposed to a grand, expensive spectacle of law-enforcement theater—Gov. McDonnell’s treatment is instructive.

I will even go a step further and opine that the documents found at Petraeus' residence (the one's he loaned to Broadwell) may have been emails from Clinton that he kept as insurance. As you recall, Law Enforcement discovery of the documents only happened after Petraeus retrieved the them from Broadwell. Was the content of the Petraeus docments ever revealed, even discussed ?
Anything ever happen to Broadwell? I don't believe so. Perhaps she took one of Comey's immunity deals.
[NYP] Veteran FBI agents say FBI Director James Comey has permanently damaged the bureaus reputation for uncompromising investigations with his "cowardly" whitewash of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's mishandling of classified information using an unauthorized private e-mail server.
Feeling the heat from congressional critics, Comey last week argued that the case was investigated by career FBI agents, "So if I blew it, they blew it, too."
But agents say Comey tied investigator's hands by agreeing to unheard-of ground rules and other demands by the lawyers for Clinton and her aides that limited their investigation.
"In my 25 years with the bureau, I never had any ground rules in my interviews," said retired agent Dennis V. Hughes, the first chief of the FBI’s computer-investigations unit.
Instead of going to prosecutors and insisting on using grand jury leverage to compel testimony and seize evidence, Comey allowed immunity for several key witnesses, including potential targets.
The immunity agreements came with outrageous side deals, including preventing agents from searching for any documents on a Dell laptop owned by former Clinton chief of staff Cheryl Mills generated after Jan. 31, 2015, when she communicated with the server administrator who destroyed subpoenaed e-mails.

Better check any connections between the Clinton Money-Laundering Foundation and DOJ/FBI. [WSJ] WASHINGTON--Newly disclosed emails show top Obama administration officials were in close contact with Hillary Clinton's nascent presidential campaign in early 2015 about the potential fallout from revelations that the former secretary of state used a private email server.
Their discussion included a request from the White House communications director to her counterpart at the State Department to see if it was possible to arrange for Secretary of State John Kerry to avoid questions during media appearances about Mrs. Clinton's email arrangement.

Of course the WH 'coordinated.' Unless he limited their contact to face-to-face or secure SATCOM, Obama would have had to have communicated with HRC over her homebrew server. She did not use a '.gov' system, either NIPR or SIPR (non-secure or secure). The coordination extends to the odious Comey and Lynch and the faux FBI investigation as well.

In a NH townhall meeting, Trump was asked by a member of the audience if he would clean up the corrupt bureaucracy/executive branch if elected. He said the whole thing was very disappointing and disgusting but did not really answer the question.

We can hope that Trump cleans out the career leftists in DOS and the limp wristed desk jockets at DoD. I would hope he puts about half of DoJ in the docket. I would also hope he puts all of the political apparatiks at Klingon Central on the curb with their cardboard box.
It will take a wholesale purge of the executive branch for Trump to avoid a widespread and continuous barrage of leaks and innuendos from these people.
[Wash Times] Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence on Thursday said "even the truth happens" sometimes with Bill and Hillary Clinton, in the wake of former President Clinton's calling the health care system under Obamacare the "craziest thing in the world" earlier this week.
"Well, sometimes with the Clintons, even the truth happens," Mr. Pence said on "Fox and Friends" when asked for his reaction to the former president's comments.
"Bill Clinton said what millions of Americans have known for years, and that is we need to repeal Obamacare lock, stock, and barrel. Donald Trump and I are committed to doing that," he said.
"For Bill Clinton to point out that this is a crazy plan that has resulted in premiums skyrocketing around the country and people literally not being able to keep the insurance they like, not being able to keep the doctor they like -- I think it represents an extraordinary moment of candor, but it's a great contribution to Donald Trump's message that we've got to repeal Obamacare, and we'll do that once he arrives in the Oval Office," Mr. Pence said.

Obamacare was always intended as a "favor" to the insurance companies to let them make tons of money, in the way the Consumer Credit Protection Act was actually a gift to the banks and credit card companies.
In both cases, after all of the $1.5 BILLION In an annual PR expenses, we see the rates for both credit cards, banking fees and health insurance go right through the roof and into the stratosphere.
No accident and as intended. I am not sure the end game is a single payer system. As long as the AMA and the ABA lead the lists of democrat donors, we will not have a single payer system. The doctors can't get rich giving lousy care and killing thousands with neglect and the lawyers can't get rich without suing them. He, in fact, offered her the use of the Walter Reed National Medical Center to have a checkup. He said he'd let her get in there secretly and nobody would know about it, but she said, "No, thank you" because she has her own doctors in New York City, where she goes periodically for checkups, for what I'm told is a leaky heart valve.
He, Obama, was very instrumental in persuading Hillary to tap Tim Kaine as her running mate. And the reason for that is that Tim Kaine, who used to be a Clinton loyalist many years ago when he was governor of Virginia, backed Obama in 2008 against Hillary during the primaries.
So he is an Obama man, Tim Kaine, not a Clinton man. And so if Hillary should falter because of her health in the White House, if she's elected, the Obamas have what you might call a mole, or a Manchurian candidate, or whatever you want to call Tim Kaine, there so that they can have huge influence over the course of this country and the Democratic Party.

Major setbacks
A year and a half into Yemen’s ongoing war between the Saudi-backed government of Hadi and Iran-backed Houthi militias have caused several loses on both sides, however recent months have seen the Houthi movement suffer major setbacks after the deaths of senior militia leaders.
Military analysts consider the formation of a national salvation government by the militias as a response to the crisis caused by their losses, AlArabiya.net reported.

I find it interesting that Deadspin (AKA the New Gawker) can be counted on for what seems to be their nearly one hundred columns slamming Trump, and I believe I saw one that actually supported Hillary. [AnNahar] Two German courts Thursday jailed an Islamic State group jihadist and handed prison terms to four men for backing another Islamist militant group in Syria.
In one trial, a German-Turkish citizen named only as Kerim Marc B. received a jail term of six years and nine months for swearing allegiance to IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and joining the group in combat. The 23-year-old from the western city Duesseldorf had assumed the nom de guerre Abu Zulfikar and fought in a unit of predominantly Bosnian militants in 2013-14 before he was arrested in Turkey in 2015, the court heard.
Prosecutors in the Duesseldorf trial presented photos of B. with an AK-47 assault rifle and hand grenades and said that even in pre-trial detention, he had sought to convert fellow inmates. Before the verdict was read, the defendant told the judges he had "completely turned my back on the Islamic State".

In another trial, four men were sentenced for supporting a Syrian rebel group the court labeled a "foreign terrorist organization," the hardline Islamist Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014....
The four men had supplied the militia, which is battling the regime of President Bashar Assad, with thousands of second-hand military jackets and boots as well as ambulances, the court in the southwestern city of Stuttgart heard. They received terms ranging from three and a half years jail to a suspended prison term of one year and nine months.
Lebanese citizen Kassem El-R., 33, was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison by the Stuttgart state court. Hassan A.S., 30, also Lebanese, 32-year-old German-Lebanese dual citizen Ali F., and 50-year old German Nuran B. received suspended sentences. Their last names weren't given in accordance with German privacy rules.
In 2013 and 2014, they provided the group with 7,500 boots and 6,000 jackets and other goods worth 130,000 euros, procured through B.'s army-surplus company in Amstetten and in a delivery organized by El-R. -- who also provided five ambulances.
Ahrar al-Sham is Syria's most powerful non-jihadist rebel group, with a commanding presence in Idlib and Aleppo provinces. It espouses a hardline Islamist ideology and works closely with former al-Qaida affiliate Fateh al-Sham Front.

Aden- The Yemeni national delegation to peace talks expressed readiness to cooperate with U.N. Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed in a quest to achieve peace and halt the bloodshed of the Yemeni people.
Houthis, on the other hand, refused to participate in peace talks unless two conditions were met – ceasing the coalition forces’ military operations and lifting the naval siege that is imposed on the weapons imports in line with U.N. Security Council resolutions.
In its statement, the delegation considered these conditions “a clear attempt to hurdle efforts of the U.N. Special Envoy to Yemen and the political solution sponsoring countries… This aggressive approach of the militias is ruining any chance to achieve peace and is increasing the agony of the Yemeni people.”
The delegation reiterated its stance towards reaching a political solution based on U.N. Resolution 2216, the National Dialogue Conference outcomes and the GCC Initiative.
The statement also noted that the Houthis are still besieging the cities, preventing the arrival of humanitarian aid and are targeting civilians. The statement said “the military and political escalation and the nefarious crimes against the Yemeni people and neighbors – plus the threat to international navigation – are all pieces of evidence that these militias are not supporters of peace.”
In the same context, high-ranking Yemeni political sources said that the Houthis in Sana’a began implementing a well-planned escalation policy to paralyze any political solution in the short-run without having directly to reject any proposal by Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.
Sources added to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Houthi policy is managed by Tehran which is urging the insurgents to stir more conflicts and deceive the local and international public opinion by attributing the insurgents’ crimes to the Saudi-led coalition.

(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – Al Mada Press reported on Thursday that 2 ISIS senior leaders accidentally killed themselves when their explosive belt prematurely detonated, west of Kirkuk.
The Iraqi media outlet stated, “An explosive belt exploded at a late hour yesterday in central Hawija killing an ISIS military commander, Abu Abdullah al-Kanadi and the Jihadist official Abu Mohamed al-Telafari while they were trying to prepare it.”
“The belt explosion caused material damages to nearby houses,” Al Mada added.
ISIS members have occupied the areas of Kirkuk Province, including Hawija, Abbasi, Riyad, Zab and al-Basheer, after capturing the city of Mosul, the center of Nineveh Province in June 2014.
(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – Iraqi media outlets reported on Thursday, that the Peshmerga forces repulsed an attack launched by ISIS on a village, in southern Kirkuk, and added that the security forces also killed a number of ISIS members.
Al Mada Press stated, “A number of ISIS members attacked, at dawn today, al-Atshana village, in western Daquq district,” pointing out that, “Peshmerga forces managed to repulse the attack, and killed a number of the ISIS members.”
“The attack did not inflict any losses on the ranks of Peshmerga forces,” Al Mada added.
The security situation worsened in Kirkuk after the ISIS members imposed their control on many areas in the Province, including Hawija, Abbasi, Riyad, Zab and al-Basheer, after capturing the city of Mosul, the center of Nineveh Province.

If you play games I get angry," read one of the texts. He later stabbed her to death with a kitchen knife during a furious row at their home which they shared with their three children.
As police arrived at the scene, Khan told the officer, "Never get an arranged marriage bro." Amid investigation, police also found a text message sent to Nasreen reading, "I have told you 10 times there are three people whose prayers will not be accepted by Allah ‐ a fleeing slave until he returns to his master, a woman whose husband is angry with her, until he is pleased with her, and a drunkard until he becomes conscious. If you don’t listen to me I get angry."
In the time leading up to the murder, the court was told that he had warned his wife. "It’s not halal for you to work with men," Khan had reportedly told Nasreen.
He admitted to murder at Manchester Crown Court where he was sentenced to life imprisonment and with a minimum requirement to serve 20 years.
The judge rejected the notion that the murder was a result of a culture clash as he said both Khan’s parents and sister were supportive of his wife’s choice of job. "Nasreen worked hard to support her family and was good at that job but by contrast you are a selfish and controlling man, did little to support your family and your wife, instead you sought to determine how she should live her life, expressing your disapproval of her choice of work," the judge said in court.
"You did not want Nasreen to have contact with other men, even though they were her clients, and her duties involved no more than administering medication and warming their food," he added.
"It appears your disapproval was born out of some outdated, almost medieval notion of how a wife should behave. You ordered her to stop ‐ and she wouldn’t," the judge went on to remark. The judge also spoke about Khan’s jealousy of his wife’s independence and the resentment he felt towards her.
Nasreen had taken up a job with Homecare Services in December 2015 where she looked after vulnerable men and women telling relatives she wanted to "gain experience and independence, and help support her family".

[Libya Herald] The Faiez Serraj-led Presidency Council/Government of National Accord (PC/GNA) has failed to make any real progress since March because it depends on specific militias in Western Libya for its survival. As a result of this dependency, it has failed to tackle head-on the issue of creating a unified national army under civilian control.
This was the view of one of the leading members of the UN-sponsored Libya Experts Forum, Zahi Mogherbi, in Tunis last week during a session on Libyan Security Sector Reform (SSR). The Forum aims to act as a think-tank and advisory body to any Libyan PC/GNA, and one of the areas it plans to present some policy papers on is Libyan Security Sector Reform.
The event was attended by a number of leading Libyan academics, experts, former ministers, Central Bank of Libya Board members and activists.
It was also attended by Taher Jehaimi, the PC/GNA’s nominated Planning Minister who was a former Minister of Planning and Governor of the Central Bank of Libya in the Qadaffy era. Jehaimi had made the keynote speech at the opening of the Tunis event.
In an intervention at the Forum, Mogherbi had said that ’’There are differences in priorities in SSR between what Libyans want and what the international community wants ‐ especially after UNSMIL head Martin Kobler’s comments (which he subsequently retracted) that Libya should decriminalize illegal migration’’.
The implication in Mogherbi’s statement is that the international community prioritize fighting ISIS and illegal migration rather than other security sector issues such as general insecurity, kidnapping, high crime, militia control and interference in Libyan society and life in general.
’’The PC/GNA has no real authority on the ground in order to be able to implement any policies. This, therefore, makes implementing any SSR even more challenging’, he added’.
’’The PC/GNA’s lack of consensus has already eroded its legitimacy within the year (since its physical arrival at the Bu Sitta Naval Base in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... on 30 March 2016). It is over dependent on its international recognition and legitimacy and ignoring its internal recognition and legitimacy’’.
Mogherbi, who lives in Benghazi, was referring here to the fact that the GNA has yet to receive a vote of approval from the House of Representatives in Tobruk which has handicapped the GNA and Libya, preventing the GNA from moving forward with the full support of the whole of Libya.
He was also referring to the fact that the PC itself was until recently divided with the two representatives for Benghazi and Zintan boycotting its proceedings.
The PC/GNA was founded under the UN-brokered Libya Political Agreement (LPA) signed in Morocco in December 2015 and backed by a UNSC Resolution.
’’The PC/GNA has also succeeded in legitimizing the militias that it relies on in Tripoli and in its war against ISIS in Sirte but without showing any desire to integrate or control these militias into a unified national army loyal to civilian control’’.
’’The PC/GNA should start to impose their will and legitimacy over the militias at least in key state institutions in order that the model can be reproduced later across the country. The PC/GNA failure in SSR and its dependency on specific militias in Western Libya has contributed further to Libya’s polarization and to the failure of the PC/GNA itself’’, concluded Emeritus Professor Mogherbi.

According to Omran, who was not present at the time, gunnies stormed the house and locked away Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! his brother Fathi. He did not say who the attackers other than that they were an official state force.
Omran, a member for Sidra, is reported to have been subject to repeated political harassment and threats in recent months because of his support for the Libyan Political Agreement and his alliance with Ibrahim Jadhran.
The Presidency Council has condemned the attack.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Subhi al-Tufayli, the former leader of the Iran-backed Lebanese Shia militia Hezbollah has slammed the group for its aggression in Syria.
Hezbollah joined the war in 2012 in support of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Lord of the Baath... , and has been a key player in keeping the president in power.
In a video that surfaced on the internet early this week, Tufayli called on Hezbollah fighters in Aleppo to stop their involvement in the war.
"If there is anyone honorable among you [Hezbollah], then repent and reconsider," he said, "Do not be pawns serving the US and Russia."
Tufayli, who was the first leader of Hezbollah from 1989 until 1991, accused the US and Russia of conspiring against the children of Moslems.
"Aleppo today is being destroyed like Berlin. Warplanes never leave its skies, its children are bombed night and day," Tufayli said.
The besieged east of Aleppo has come under intense aerial bombardment since a cessation of hostilities brokered by the US and Moscow collapsed last month.
Russia launched its military operation in Syria last September to back up long-time ally Bashir al-Assad to Western ire, helping to shore up the regime’s embattled forces. Whereas the US and allies back the anti-regime Syrian Rebels.
"Whoever allies with these people, American or Russian, I swear to God, he is an enemy," Tufayli said.

Life is awfully exciting when you are the Navy's newest littoral combat ship.
Already under repairs for a pair of mechanical failures, the Navy's newest littoral combat ship cracked its aluminum hull against a tugboat while under tow Tuesday off the coast of Florida, forcing its crew to make emergency repairs.
The collision with the tug occurred while Hurricane Matthew was bearing down on the Mayport Naval Station near Jacksonville. The Montgomery had been ordered to ride out the Category-4 storm at sea alongside the guided-missile cruiser Anzio, according to a Navy statement.
The crack in the trimaran hull ‐ described by the Navy as a "minor seawater intrusion" ‐ was temporarily patched by the crew. Further repairs are slated when the hurricane passes and the port reopens.
The incident remains under investigation, according to Naval Surface Forces Pacific spokeswoman Lt. Cmdr. Rebecca Haggard.
The Independence-class littoral combat ship was commissioned on Sept. 10 in Mobile, Alabama and was supposed to steam to its home port in San Diego.
Three days later, however, it suffered a pair of mechanical problems. Seawater leaked in the hydraulic cooling system and, later in the day, the warship lost one of its gas turbine engine.
The snafus triggered the loss of both port shafts and forced the high-speed ship to continue under its own power to Mayport for repairs before continuing to San Diego.
On Sept. 5, the Naval Surface Forces ordered a stand down for every crew in the littoral combat fleet to "review procedures and standards for their engineering departments," according to a Navy statement.
The maintenance pause followed recent mechanical problems discovered on the littoral combat ships Freedom and Coronado.
The Freedom-class littoral combat ship Fort Worth is slated to return to San Diego Friday afternoon following extensive repairs to its propulsion system in Singapore.

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Al Mada Press reported on Thursday that ten members of al-Hashd al-Shaabi were either killed or wounded in the explosion of an improvised explosive device that targeted their patrol, north of Baghdad.
The Iraqi media outlet stated, “This morning, an improvised explosive device exploded targeting a patrol of al-Hashd al-Shaabi while passing in al-Moshahda vicinity in Tarmiyah area, north of Baghdad.”
“The explosion killed three volunteer soldiers and wounded seven others, as well as causing damage to the vehicle,” Al Mada added.
“Security forces rushed to the area of incident, and evacuated the wounded to a nearby hospital and the bodies to the forensic medicine department,” Al Mada explained.
Iraq is witnessing a surge of violence since 2013, while the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) announced that more than 2162 Iraqis were either killed or wounded in different areas of the country in September 2016, and added that the capital Baghdad was the most affected area.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura warned on Thursday that the eastern part of Aleppo may be "totally destroyed" by the year’s end, vowing that the international body will not allow the Syrian city to be another Rwanda or Srebrenica.

UN humanitarian advisor Jan Egeland said at least 376 were killed and 1,266 maimed in the past two weeks in eastern Aleppo, and there is still no greenlight from the Syrian government to send aid convoys anywhere in the country in October.

Bishara, who has been living in Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... since he fled Israel in 2007, is accused by Israel of helping Hezbollah select targets during its 2006 assault on the Jewish state. Israel is still seeking to detain Bishara and charge him for these terror offenses. Israeli authorities have said they will arrest Bishara if he returns to the country, where he could face the death penalty, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

[ABC7] A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sergeant died after being shot during a deputy-involved shooting in Lancaster, authorities said.
The department identified him as Steve Owen, 53, a 29-year veteran of the department who had spent the last five years at the Lancaster Station.
Owen and another deputy had responded to a burglary call around noon in the 3200 block of West Avenue J7, sheriff's officials said. The area was contained and during the containment gunfire was heard in the back of the location.
The deputy at the front of the complex ran in the direction of the gunfire and found Owen suffering from a gunshot wound. The suspect then fled the area on foot, ran to the front of the home and attempted to steal Owen's patrol car, according to authorities.
The suspect put the car into reverse, ramming the second patrol car, which resulted in a second deputy-involved shooting, authorities said.
Authorities said the suspect then fled from the area on foot and ran into another home with two teens inside. Special Enforcement Bureau officers were able to get the teens safely out of the home before the suspect was taken into custody.
Capt. Steven Katz said the suspect, who is on active parole, may have suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. A weapon was also recovered.

Is the percentage of LEO's killed by black criminals known? Perhaps that might shed light on the number of blacks shot by law enforcement. Is there greater threat from one population over others?
BLM is emboldened by our media and our president. If there is a truth to open conflict between criminal blacks and the rest of society it should be known and shared widely. That can reduce the conflict or allows it's prosecution to conclusion.

[TRIBUNE.PK] Indian soldiers rubbed out three suspected gunnies who tried to raid an army base in northern Kashmire on Thursday, police said, the latest in a wave of attacks that has raised tensions with neighbouring Pakistain.
The three men were found in an orchard near the army base in Kupwara district near the Line of Control, the de facto border that divides the Himalayan region between India and Pakistain.
Police superintendent Ghulam Jeelani said the attackers engaged in heavy firing with soldiers before they retreated from the base, the second to be attacked in days in northern Kashmire. The attack came as India and Pakistain exchanged more gunfire across the de facto border in Kashmire, despite a 2003 ceasefire, setting off panic among residents in border areas.
Tensions have escalated sharply since last week, when India announced its special forces had carried out a strike against gunnies camped on the Pakistain side of Kashmire and inflicted significant casualties. Pakistain denied such a strike had taken place but vowed to retaliate against any Indian aggression.
The latest round of tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours over Kashmire began after gunnies killed 19 soldiers in an army camp, the deadliest toll in nearly two decades. India said the attackers had come from Pakistain but Islamabad demanded credible proof.
Pakistain denies sending fighters to Kashmire but says it gives moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their 27-year struggle for self-determination. The two sides traded artillery fire across the Line of Control in Nowshera, Pallanwala and Mendhar sections overnight, the Indian army said.
Twenty shops were gutted in Sabjiyan sector when a shell landed, Poonch deputy commissioner Mohammad Haroon Malik said. "People are terrified. They are demanding underground community shelters to protect themselves from firing," he said.

Omrani, 45, a member of the board directors of Dar al-Ifta and chairman of the Libyan Scholars’ Association, is one of controversial grand mufti’s closest aides.
The identity of his kidnappers is unknown. Colleagues have suggested that either supporters of the so-called Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... or of Field Marshal Khalifa Hafter and Operation Dignity are involved. For its part, the Dar al-Ifta has said that responsibility for his safety lay with the Presidency Concil and the security forces in the city. It warned that such an unacceptable incident could lead to bloodshed in the country.
The Presidency Council has also condemned the abduction saying it had instructed the interior ministry to find the criminals and ensure Omrani was released as soon as possible.
It is not known if it connected but yesterday, on his Tanasah TV channel, Ghariani accused Misratans gangs of kidnapping people in Tripoli for ransom.

[Libya Herald] Faiez Serraj and other members of the Presidency Council (PC) arrived today in Tunis for the start of what is expected to be several days of intensive discussions on the composition of the new slimmed-down government of national accord (GNA).
Six weeks ago, the House of Representatives (HoR)voted to reject the last proposed GNA, ordering the nine-member PC to come up with a new, reduced list of government ministers within ten days. Serraj promised that a new government would be selected and presented to the HoR but said that until then the ministers in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... should continue in their existing caretaker roles.
The PC has been under growing pressure, nationally and internationally, to give a role within the new government to Khalifa Hafter. Both the French and Italian government have publically called on it to do so. But while this is likely to find acceptance among a number of members, it will be fiercely resisted by others, notably the pro-Islamist Abdelsalam Kajman and Mohammed Ammari.
One suggestion is that instead of appointing a fresh slate of government ministers the PC members take the posts themselves.
This would meet the HoR’s demand that the new government contain no more than nine members ‐ the prime minister and eight ministers.
The decision to meet in Tunis rather than Tripoli meets the objection of Ali Gatrani who agreed to rejoin the PC after months of boycotting it following an appeal from HoR president Ageela Saleh. However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... he refuses to attend sessions in Tripoli while, he says, it remains controlled by illegal militias.

[Libya Herald] Former boycotting member of the Presidency Council Ali Gatrani was told today by Italian foreign minister Paolo Gentiloni that Field Marshal Khalifa Hafter should have "an appropriate role in managing the country’s security" in the new government.
Gatrani, who is close to Hafter, and who was in Rome for talks with Italian officials, was also commended by Gentiloni for having rejoined the PC after more than six months’s absence.
He was also told, though, that Italia would continue to "staunchly and resolutely" support the Libyan Political Agreement and all institutions established under it. He was further encouraged by his host to personally work to overcome the current crisis and ensure the formation of the new government.
"Only by reinforcing the institutions, which are the product of the political agreement, and by uniting all security forces, will Libya make the progress we all expect on the road to long-lasting peace and stability," Gentiloni said.
Like his French counterpart, Gentoloni has increasingly stressed the need for the PC to make compromises with Hafter if it is to succeed.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] At least 29 Syrian rebels were killed in a blast at a border crossing with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... on Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The Britannia-based monitoring group said it was unclear what caused the kaboom at the Atme crossing between Turkey and the northern Syrian province of Idlib, adding that around 20 people had also been maimed.
ISIS, which has been fighting the rebels and their Turkish allies, said a "soldier of the caliphate" detonated a boom-mobile as the rebel fighters were crossing into Syria, US-based monitor SITE Intelligence Group reported.
The ISIS statement said several commanders of the Islamist Ahrar al-Sham ...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. They make up the main element of the Islamic Front but they don't profess adoration of al-Qaeda and they've been fighting (mainly for survival) against the Islamic State. Their leadership was wiped out at a single blow by a suicide kaboom at a crowded basement meeting in September, 2014... rebel group were among the dead.
Turkey’s state-run Anatolia news agency said the deadly blast took place during a "change of guard" among Syrian rebels in the area.
Rebel fighters have been targeted at the crossing before. ISIS grabbed credit for a mid-August suicide kaboom there that killed at least 32.
The rebels killed on Thursday were among those participating in Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield in neighboring Aleppo province.

Vasip Sahin, the governor for Istanbul, told news hounds at the scene in the Yenibosna district that none of the injured was at death's door, retracting an earlier statement that one person was seriously hurt.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, which could be heard from the city's nearby Ataturk Airport. Sahin said the investigation was ongoing and of the victims Thursday were civilians.

[ARA News] HASAKAH – Syrian Kurds in the northeastern Hasakah city buried on Thursday dozens of civilian victims who fell in an ISIS-led attack earlier this week.
At least 36 civilians were killed and 90 more injured in an Islamic State (ISIS) suicide bombing on Monday. The bomber blew himself at a Kurdish wedding party, in Hasakah city.
Thousands of people participated in the funeral ceremony in Sharji district on Thursday.
“Cowardly terrorists spill innocent blood, target Kurdish wedding in Hasakah,” Lahur Talabani, the the Director of the Zanyari and Parastin Intelligence Agency said. “We vow [that our] fight against terrorism will be unrelenting.”
“The deadly attack caused a state of panic among the people of Hasakah,” rights activist Saadoun Hame said.
“Our people have seen enough of blood. We are tired of war, we want peace” Hame told ARA News. “Those innocent people were trying to celebrate life, but the terrorists couldn’t let that happen. We need an end to this deadly conflict.”
This is not the first time that ISIS has targeted Syrian Kurds. In July, over 25 civilians were killed in an ISIS suicide bombing attack in the city of Hasakah. Another attack, also in July, killed at least 50 civilians in the city of Qamishli.
This surge of violence followed the expulsion of ISIS militants from the area at the hands of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The increasing number of civilian casualties in ISIS attacks in the area has been coupled with a sharp shortage of medical supplies. Video report at the link

[ARA News] QAMISHLI – The radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) executed two of its own militants on charges of ‘high treason’. The execution took place in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor city on Thursday, activists and eyewitnesses reported.
ISIS detained two members of its Islamic Police, also known as Diwan al-Hisba, after they left their post without permission.
“They tried to escape Deir ez-Zor, but the group was able to arrest them near the southern exit of the city,” local media activist Firas al-Ahmed told ARA News.
The ISIS-led Sharia Court decided to execute them on charges of committing high treason.
“The two Hisba members were executed by firing squad in the Sabha District,” the source reported, adding that hundreds of people witnessed the execution.
In July, ISIS executed six of its own militants on charges of “treason”, after accusing them of leaking security information to the US-led coalition. Informed local sources told ARA News at the time that ISIS has arrested six of its own security members of the al-Hisba department in the city of Mosul in Iraq’s northwestern Nineveh province.
“The ISIS leadership suspected that the al-Hisba members were leaking confidential information to the western coalition–whose airstrikes have recently killed top jihadi officials. After interrogation, the Mosul Sharia Court issued a decision to publicly execute the six suspects,” media activist Abdullah al-Malla told ARA News in Mosul, citing an ISIS official. “The six jihadis were beheaded in front of dozens of ISIS officials in central Mosul,” al-Malla reported.

A number of former officials, critics, members of civil society and residents of Kunduz said government has failed to fill the gap between people and the state after the fall of Kunduz city to the Taliban last year and that a lack of cooperation with the residents has resulted in serious security issues in the northern province.
"Unfortunately, no clearance operation was carried out in Kunduz after the city collapsed to Taliban last year. Coordination should be established between people and local government in order to prevent Taliban from advancing once again," said Hamdullah Danishi, former acting governor of Kunduz.
Meanwhile, a number of Kunduz residents and civil society activists said not addressing people's problems was the main reason why the Taliban started their activities on the outskirts of Kunduz city.
"In addition to a lack of coordination among security forces in Kunduz, other problems in this province is that the gap between people and government has increased," said Mohammad Asghar Maihanyar, a civil society activist in Kunduz.
"The [Kunduz] city was destroyed and it happens all the time, but no one tries to bring the city's situation under control. There are thousands of security force members in Kunduz, but there is no coordination among them," said Adila Hussaini, a resident of the city.
Reports indicate that two rockets were fired near the Kunduz governor's office on Thursday where the Interior Minister Taj Mohammad Jahid had a meeting with local officials.
A number of security force members were wounded in the rocket attack, reports indicate.
Talking on Kunduz situation, Defense Ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said: "Taliban attacked the city while they had clothes same as local residents. This is a problem in guerilla wars, but on the battlefields, Taliban does not have the power to face our security forces."
This comes after parts of Kunduz city including the main circle were overrun by the Taliban earlier this week, but according to security forces, most parts of the city have been retaken after a large-scale military operation conducted by Afghan forces in the northern province.

Somalia’s extremist Shabaab militants on Thursday claimed an attack on a residential compound in the restive northeastern Kenyan town of Mandera that left six “Christians” dead, according to their Telegram account.
The statement said the attack in the early hours of Thursday was “planned… and killed Christians” in the Kenyan region.
The attack targeted a gated residential building which mainly housed non-locals, less than a kilometer (0.6 miles) from the volatile Somalia border town of Beled Hawa.
“We have suffered yet another attack in Mandera and sadly we have lost six people,” Governor Ali Roba said in a statement.
Police chief Joseph Boinnet told AFP that there were 33 people inside the compound when the attack took place. The others escaped unharmed.
Security official Mohamud Ali Saleh said the attackers used explosives to gain access to the fortified building.
“We highly suspect the attackers are members of the Shabaab insurgent group, who have sneaked across the porous border,” he said.
“These criminal gangs are desperate to hurt innocent Kenyans since they were defeated badly and routed out of all their hideouts in the neighboring country.”
Saleh said that security officers who were carrying out regular patrols of the border heard gunshots and explosions and quickly responded.
Several attacks in the region have seen Shabaab militants target Christians.
(IraqiNews.com) Anbar – Iraqi media outlets reported on Thursday that four ISIS members were killed in an armed attack launched by unidentified men in central Qaim, west of Anbar, and added that the gunmen brought down the group’s flag and raised the Iraqi flag on the area.
Al Mada Press stated, “Unidentified gunmen attacked, at noon today, a gathering of ISIS members in central Qaim district, using light weapons, killing four members of the ISIS group.”
“The gunmen managed to seize the weapons and communications devices of the ISIS members, as well as bringing down the group’s flag and raising Iraqi flag instead of it,” Al Mada added.
“The ISIS group prevented its member from approaching civilian gatherings, markets and residential areas, after being an easy target for the unidentified armed groups,” Al Mada explained.
The security forces liberated the majority of cities of Anbar, including Ramadi, Fallujah, Rutba and Heet from the ISIS grip.

[IsraelTimes] Belgian prosecutors charged a suspect with attempted murder Thursday over the stabbing of two coppers in a "terrorist attack" in Brussels, the latest such incident in a city still reeling from deadly bombings in March.
The suspect in Wednesday’s attack, named as 43-year-old Hicham D., has been "charged with attempted murder in a terrorist context and participation at the activities of a terrorist group," a statement from the prosecutor’s office said.
His brother, Aboubaker D, had also been taken into custody "in the framework of the terrorist attack against two coppers" in Brussels, it said. The brother was born in 1970 and both men have Belgian nationality.
"The investigating judge, specializing in terrorism, will decide tomorrow on the possible extension of his detention," the statement added.
Police shot the attacker in the leg after he used a knife to attack the two officers, one female and one male, in the Schaerbeek area of the Belgian capital before breaking the nose of a third officer.
[TRIBUNE.PK] ISLAMABAD: As part of pro-women legislation, the Parliament unanimously passed on Thursday the anti-honour and anti-rape bills.
Under the new law, relatives of the victim would only be able to pardon the killer of capital punishment, but they would still face a mandatory life sentence of twelve-and-a-half years.
In the anti-rape bill, a provision to conduct DNA tests on both the alleged victim and perpetrator has been added for the first time.
Rape of minors, as well as the mentally and physically ill, would become punishable by death.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pakistain’s Foreign Office on Thursday has reiterated its "concern" following the overriding of US President Barack Obama I inhaled. That was the point... veto on the Justice against the sponsors of terrorism act (JASTA) law passed by the Congress.
"We have noted with concern the overturning of the US Presidential veto on JASTA, a law passed by US Congress aimed at targeting sovereign states," the Foreign Office said in a statement.
It added: "Many countries across Europe and in the Middle East have also expressed similar concern over JASTA. Pakistain had earlier also expressed anguish over the adoption of a domestic legislation with extra-territorial application."
Many states, including US officials and the EU, have criticized JASTA and warned that the potential bill threatens sovereign immunity, an important principle in international law.
Former US Attorney General Michael Mukasey was the latest in slamming the Congress overturning Obama’s veto.
"We have had investigations by our intelligence agencies, by Congress, and by the 9/11 Commission. They found no evidence of Saudi government involvement or the involvement of any senior Saudi officials. And so, there is no reason for this (bill)," he said.

[Dhaka Tribune] A month before the terror attack in Holey Artisan Bakery restaurant of Gulshan, a consignment of AK22 rifles and some small arms reached the bully boyz in Dhaka.
Of these arms, three AK22 rifles were used in the Gulshan attack while another rifle was used for the security of New Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) chief Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury.
Investigators are now saying they have finally been able to trace the route of the smuggled arms.
Sources in police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit said these arms came from outside Bangladesh and the members of New JMB used them in attacks conducted in Bogra and other northern districts.
"We have finally learned the source of the AK22s supply and have been also able to identify the group primarily," Monirul Islam, chief of CTTC, told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
"Now, drive is underway to arrest this group’s members."
The CTTC chief said these AK22 rifles, recovered at different times in drives, mainly entered Bangladesh through the Chapainawabganj border. The consignment was received there by an arms smuggling group, who later sent it to Dhaka inside mango baskets, he said.
Missing New JMB leader Nurul Islam Marjan, who was the field-level coordinator of the July 1 cafe attack, received the consignment in Dhaka and delivered it to the krazed killer den in Bashundhara Residential Area.
"A large amount of mangoes came to Dhaka from Chapainawabganj in baskets at the time and the bully boyz took advantage of that to elude law enforcers," added the CTTC chief.
"Now, drives are underway to arrest Marjan and other mysteries of such arms smuggling will be solved soon after his arrest."
Dhaka Tribune met with an arms expert in the CTTC to ask about the recovered AK22 rifles. The official, requesting anonymity, said the recovered rifles were not originals.
"The New JMB members use modified versions. They do this to carry the rifles around easily," the official said.
"We have also come to know that the modification of these arms was done in Munger city in Bihar state of India and then they came to Chapainwabganj border," said the official.
"A seal from a factory in Bihar was found on the three AK22 rifles recovered after the Gulshan terror attack," he said.
According to law enforcement sources, use of AK22 rifles by bully boyz was also seen during a drive in Bogra on April 27, before the Gulshan attack. During the time, a krazed killer named Abdul Momin was tossed in the calaboose Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! and confessed having used the arms to conduct attack in Shia Mosque of Bogra.
Sanowar Hossain, additional deputy commissioner of the CTTC, said they were now trying to learn about the arms capacity of New JMB.
Apart from the three rifles, five pistols were used in the Gulshan attack, that killed 23 people, including 17 foreigners and two police officials, on July 1.
Money for Gulshan attack came through Hundi
CTTC unit chief Monirul Islam said a total of Tk20 lakh came to Bangladesh in two phases through Hundi. On behalf of the New JMB, the fund was received by a person named Chocolate alias Basharuzzaman, a close associate of killed leader Tamim Chowdhury.
"We have identified the Hundi traders who helped the bully boyz get the money. Now we are trying to arrest them," he said.
Police not sure of Hasnat’s involvement
The CTTC unit chief yesterday said that they were not sure about the involvement of the only arrestee in Gulshan attack case, former North South University teacher Hasnat Reza Karim.
"Hasnat was interrogated in the TFI cell and our investigation officer also interrogated him," Monirul said.
"So, we can only comment clearly about his involvement after getting the TFI cell report and investigation officer’s interrogation copy together," he added.
Nothing found against Tahmid
"Tahmid Hasib Khan has been found not involved in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Gulshan," CTTC chief Monirul said while talking to news hounds at the DMP Media Centre yesterday.
He, however, said the investigation of the case had not ended yet and if Tahmid’s involvement was found in any part of the investigation, he would be shown arrested.
On Sunday, a Dhaka court granted Tahmid bail. Hasnat and Tahmid were arrested under section 54 on August 3.
However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... police have charged Tahmid with not giving information on the attackers. [IsraelTimes] An IDF tank attacked a Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, outpost in the southern Gazoo Strip on Thursday in response to a mortar shell fired at southern Israel earlier in the day, the army said.
Reports within the Gazoo Strip also indicated that Israeli forces struck a site in central Gazoo, east of the Bureij refugee camp, though that was not immediately confirmed by the IDF.
There were no immediate reports of Paleostinian injuries.
Earlier in the day, a mortar shell fired from Gazoo struck an open field in the Eshkol region, the army said.
It was the second such attack by Paleostinians in two days.

In a statement, the group said the attack on Sderot was a response to Hamas arresting several members of the organization.

(IraqiNews.com) Karbala – On Thursday the Karbala Police Directorate announced that it had discovered a large cache of hidden munitions during an operation west of the province and that it had arrested 20 fugitives who were wanted on criminal and terrorism charges.
Karbala Police Chief, Major Ahmed al-Zweni, said in a press statement, “The security forces carried out several security operations in different areas of the province, and found military supplies, including 82 mortar shells, 8 hand grenades and 97 detonators.”
“Our detachments also arrested 18 persons wanted on different criminal and terrorism charges,” Zweni explained. “The detachments of the Anti-Drug directorate arrested two drug dealers from al-Basra province,” Zweni added.
Zweni also said that the operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence information.

The study, which aimed to identify socioeconomic traits that might explain why some are drawn to the Syria-based krazed killer group, made clear that poverty and deprivation were not at the root of support for the group.
Almost without exception, fighters joining IS's Syria and Iraq-based forces had several more years of education in their home countries -- whether in Europe, Africa or elsewhere in the Middle East -- than the average citizen.
The data shows clearly, the report said, that "poverty is not a driver of radicalization into violent extremism."
Out of 331 recruits described in a leaked Islamic State database, only 17 percent did not finish high school, while a quarter had university-level educations.
Only those from Eastern Europe were below the average, and only marginally so, according to the study.
"Foreign recruits from the Middle East, North Africa and South and East Asia are significantly more educated than what is typical in their region," the Bank report said.
About 30 percent of the recruits told the krazed killer group what positions in the force they wanted. Around one in nine volunteered for suicide operations, and their educational levels were on par with those who sought to be administrators, the report said.
"The proportions of administrators but also of suicide fighters increase with education," it said.
Most of the 331 recruits also reported having a job before traveling to join the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS, according to the study.
However, the hip bone's connected to the leg bone... it noted that a significant number of those choosing "suicide fighter" as their preferred option when enlisting said that they had not been employed back in their home country, or that they were in the military before joining the group.
"An important finding is that these individuals are far from being uneducated or illiterate. Most claim to have attended secondary school and a large fraction have gone on to study at university," the report said.
"We find that ISIS did not recruit its foreign workforce among the poor and less educated, but rather the opposite. Instead, the lack of economic inclusion seems to explain the extent of radicalization into violent extremism."

[IsraelTimes] Israeli security forces nabbed Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! a Paleostinian man believed to be on his way to an arms deal in the West Bank on Thursday, confiscating a locally produced submachine gun and what appeared to be a wooden mace, the army said.
The suspect was picked up near Halhul, a Paleostinian village outside Hebron, as part of a joint Israel Defense Forces and Israel Police operation, the army said.
Footage of the incident, which was released by the army, showed the suspect making a U-turn before his car was rushed by troops.
Upon searching the man’s vehicle, IDF soldiers found a "Carlo"-style submachine gun and what seems to be a wooden spiked mace, also known as a morning star.
The "Carlo," as the gun is known, is a homemade or craft-produced weapon that can be made using rudimentary tools found in almost any machine shop, and other basic materials, like metal water pipes.
[Ynet] Seven Palestinians have been arrested on charges of assembling pipe bombs and other explosive devices and then throwing them at those coming to pray at Rachel's Tomb; more arrests are pending.
A group of seven underage Palestinians from the Aida Refugee Camp was arrested on suspicion of preparing and throwing explosive devices at those who came to pray at Rachel's Tomb, located near the northern entrance to Bethlehem. Though no one was reported to have been injured, the seven supposedly caused a great deal of damage to the surrounding area.
The young boys, aged 16–17, reportedly learned how to prepare these bombs off the internet. They admitted under interrogation of carrying out a large number of events during which they threw pipe bombs and rocks at those visiting the site.
The group purchased the materials for the homemade bombs from within the Palestinian territories. They reportedly gathered around Rachel's Tomb on Friday afternoons, when they would throw the explosive devices and then run back to disappear into the Aida camp.
The military court extended the arrests of three of the suspects on Wednesday. The investigation is still ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.

Both Ahrar al-Sham and Jund al-Aqsa had recently released statements condemning the other side for carrying out acts of agression. al-Masdar was able to translate Ahrar's most recent statement through which it threatened to wipe out its adversary if de-escalation failed.

A faction that withdrew from Jaish al-Fateh and didn't participate in the decisive battles of Aleppo and Latakia is in no place to talk down on those who have given thousands of deaders all over this country. The mujahideen of Ahrar al-Sham in the fronts against the regime in Hama, Latakia, and Aleppo outnumber Jund al-Aqsa and its supporters vastly on each of those fronts, and we won't have to lessen the pressure on the regime to wipe them out."

A number of former Daesh and Taliban fighters who have recently joined the peace process in Nangarhar said the groups are supported by Pakistan and the members receive military training in the neighboring country.
They claimed that Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is involved with the Taliban and Daesh militants, that they equip them and then send them to fight against security forces in Afghanistan.
Old dogs, old tricks.
Khalid, a former Daesh fighter, who joined the insurgent group in Haska Mina district in Nangarhar, said he received military training in Pakistan and was told to fight security forces in Afghanistan.
"They are no methods they haven't used to kill people. They have experienced all ways of killing. What they do is against Islam," he said.
Shergul, a former Taliban commander who has joined the peace process said the Taliban militants are being rounded up and equipped in Pakistan.
"They were the agents of Pakistan who gave the Taliban money and then they told us to blow up bridges, destroy mosques, open fire on district offices, but our conscience did not accept this because our brothers are working in government," he added.
Meanwhile, the head of the High Peace Council's office in Nangarhar, Malik Nazir, called on all militant groups to join the peace process if they want a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.
"They are those who have been deceived and have been told that they should do jihad in Afghanistan. Now they have realized that there is no jihad in Afghanistan; it is a Muslim nation, therefore they have joined the peace process," he said.
Khalid and Shergul also urged all militant groups to avoid being deceived by strangers and to join the peace process.
[Libya Herald] A Bunyan Marsous commander has rounded on the United States saying that its Arclight airstrikes in Sirte have been "useless" and that if Washington had really wanted to, it could have destroyed IS positions and liberated Sirte within a few hours.
The claim came today from Brigadier Ibrahim Bait, the front man for Misrata’s military council. He said on Sheikh Sadeq Ghariani’s Tanash TV channel that America had the technology to end the terrorists’ resistance in a matter of hours, not months. He insisted that warplanes launched from Misrata were more effective than US aircraft in clearing the way for BM forces on the ground.
The US has now launched more than 200 strikes by fast jets, drones and helicopters, the majority believed to be from the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp. Its operations began in August at the request of the Presidency Council. On Monday the Pentagon announced the strikes would continue for another month and indicated that it would now target IS Death Eaters elsewhere in Libya as well as in Sirte.
The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) has reported hitting tanks, truck bombs and terrorist strong points as it said it cleared the way for BM fighters to advance.
However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... Bait said that it was clear to everyone that the US wanted to prolong the battle for the town. He said that BM forces could have taken Sirte without American assistance but that the PC had insisted that the US be involved.
So far there has been no reaction to Bait’s provocative statement from either the Americans nor the PC who are meeting in Tunis.
One diplomat wondered this evening if Bait’s comments perhaps reflected the desperation among the largely Misratan BM commanders at the failure of their forces to crush the last terrorist resistance in Sirte’s coastal Third District.
In recent weeks, the assault has been resumed in fits and starts and each time more casualties have been added to the BM’s official toll of some 550 dead and 2,500 injured. However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... medical sources suggested last month that the real figures were higher.
If the US Arclight airstrikes are indeed inaccurate, for whatever reason, as Bait claimed, it does not appear that any BM fighters have been hit by mistake.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini announced that the 28-nation bloc will pledge 1.2 billion euros ($1.5 billion) a year and said "I would expect similar levels of engagement from our partners."
The United States and the EU currently each provide about a third of all international aid to Afghanistan, with Japan the next largest donor.
For security, NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... nations have already committed at a summit in Warsaw in July to maintain troop numbers in Afghanistan and uphold a pledge of $5 billion a year to fund local forces until 2020.
Afghanistan remains dependent on foreign aid and a limited NATO military presence, despite having improved key life indicators including maternal mortality and lifespan.
But the brutal war in Syria and the worst migration crisis since World War II have left Afghanistan facing competition for dwindling international donor funds.
Total pledges in Brussels looked set to fall short of the four billion dollars a year for four years that the international community promised for Afghanistan at the last such conference in Tokyo in 2012.
The United States has spent around $110 billion on Afghanistan's reconstruction since 2001, more than the cost of the Marshall Plan that rebuilt a devastated Europe after World War II, but with limited results.

The plan involves possibly building a dedicated terminal for deportees at Kabul airport. EU officials have however denied that aid pledges will depend on Kabul accepting the return of 80,000 asylum-seekers.
MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that Moscow was interested in a proposal made by UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura about escorting ex-Nusra fighters out of Aleppo.
Lavrov, speaking at a news conference after meeting French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, said Russian officials were carefully studying de Mistura’s idea.
France’s foreign minister told Russia there was no justification for the fierce assault on Aleppo, as Moscow said it was ready to “work on” a French-drafted UN resolution seeking to allow aid into the besieged city.
“What is happening in Aleppo is without precedent — nothing can justify such a deluge of fire and of death,” Jean-Marc Ayrault said after meeting Lavrov in Moscow. “I met Sergei Lavrov to tell him face to face that no one can tolerate this situation.”
Tensions between Russia and the US have spiked after Washington suspended talks over a cease-fire on Monday in protest at Moscow stepping up its air campaign in support of a ferocious offensive against rebel-controlled eastern Aleppo.
The US State Department acknowledged that Secretary of State John Kerry had called his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to discuss Syria despite the announcement.
“Engagement remains,” US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said.
“What we talked about the other day was bilateral engagement with regard to Syria. That remains suspended, but it doesn’t preclude the Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Lavrov from talking.”
The UN has released satellite images showing most recent destruction of Aleppo. Officials with the UN’s satellite imagery program say new pictures show “an awful lot of new damage” — presumably by airstrikes.
Lars Bromley of UNOSAT says the commercial images from Digital Globe, obtained by the UN agency through an arrangement with the US State Department, show mostly “formerly blasted and blown-up areas” during Syria’s 5-1/2-year war “experiencing a great deal of additional damage.” He said in Geneva: “To a certain extent you’re looking at rubble being pushed around.”
The images mostly show before-and-after pictures from mid to late September showing destruction of buildings, including homes, after the breakdown of a short-lived US and Russia-brokered cease-fire.
President Bashar Assad said his forces would recapture all of Syria, including Aleppo, in a television interview on Thursday but added he would prefer to do so using local deals and amnesties that would allow rebels to leave for other areas.
According to the transcript of an interview with Denmark’s TV 2, he said there were no moderate rebels and that the US was using the Nusra Front, which changed its name in July and broke allegiance to Al-Qaeda, as “a card” in Syria’s war.
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The shadow provincial governor of the Taliban group Mullah Abdul Salam was killed during festivities with the Afghan cops in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.
According to the security officials, Mullah Salam was initially injured during festivities with the Afghan forces and departed this vale of tears after he was taken to the hospital Chardara district.
The Talibs group has not commented regarding the report so far.
The Talibs launched a coordinated attack on the strategic Kunduz city earlier this week with an aim to capture the control of the city but the Afghan forces managed to repulse the attack although sporadic festivities still continue in the outskirts of the city.
The Talibs have launched numerous attacks on Kunduz city since it was retaken by the Afghan Special Operations Forces earlier in the month of October.
The Taliban Lions of Islam were accused of horrific criminal activities after they seized control of the city, including murders, rape, kidnappings, use of civilians as shields, looting of public and private properties.
The Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan said at least 50 non-combatants were killed and over 350 others were maimed.
However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... the rights organization said the number could be relatively higher as AIHRC said their statistics was based on hospital reports and several others had not been taken to hospital after they were killed or injured.

KUNDUZ: More than 100 Taliban militants have been killed as clash between the hardliner Taliban group and government forces for the control of northern Kunduz city entered its fourth day on Thursday, police spokesman in the northern zone Mahfozullah Akbari said.
"Latest update on the situation in Kunduz city is that more than 100 rebels have been killed and scores more injured," Akbari told Xinhua.
Several bodies have been collected from different parts of the city and cleanup operation has been continuing to return law and order in the city, the official added.
However, he contended that the ongoing cleanup operation against militants has slowed down because the militants have been using the civilians as human shield to undermine the crackdown.
"Since the militants have been using civilians as human shields and have taken positions in residential houses therefore, the operations have been slowed down in order to protect the civilians," Akbari asserted.
Nevertheless, he stressed that the militants have been retreated from some areas in the city.
Taliban militants overrun parts of Kunduz city the capital of Kunduz province 250 km north of Kabul on Monday and the government forces have yet to dislodge militants and clean up the city from the insurgents.
During the operations against militants, according Akbari, four security personnel have been killed and eight others injured.
However, Taliban outfit in contact with media, besides claiming inflicting huge casualties to the government forces also insisted the militants are in control of major parts of the embattled Kunduz city.
Although there is no official statistic about civilians' casualties over the past four days of war in Kunduz, the Kunduz residents say that hundreds of thousands of families have been stranded in their houses due to relentless firing.
"We have no power, no water and even no food," Azizullah of Kunduz city told Xinhua.
He also noted that many families are looking for ceasefire to leave their houses for safer places, but so far no sign of halting hostility is in sight.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq has requested an emergency UN Security Council session over the presence of Turkish troops in northern Iraq, a Foreign Ministry front man said Thursday, a development that could further increase tension between the two neighbors.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... however, remained defiant, with Prime Minister Binali Yildirim vowing on Thursday to maintain Turkish troop presence "no matter what Baghdad says."
Yildirim on Thursday dubbed Iraq’s reaction to Turkey’s military presence at the Bashiqa army base north of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... as "incomprehensible" and the soldiers will remain there to ensure the region’s demographics do not change.
His comments, in a speech to businessmen, followed Iraqi condemnation of a Turkish decision to extend by a year the deployment of some 2,000 troops in northern Iraq. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi warned Turkey risked triggering a regional war.
Turkey-Iraq relations strained
Turkey-Iraq relations became strained after Ankara late last year sent troops to the region of Bashiqa, northeast of Mosul, to train anti-ISIS fighters there - a move Baghdad considers a "blatant violation" of its illusory sovereignty. Iraq has demanded Turkish withdrawal but Ankara has ignored the call.
Baghdad is now asking the Security Council for the emergency session to discuss "Turkish violations on the Iraqi soil and the interference in its internal affairs," said the ministry front man, Ahmad Jamal.
Jamal said Iraq also asked the council to "shoulder its responsibility and adopt a resolution to end to the Turkish troops’ violation of Iraq’s illusory sovereignty" and "intensify international support" ahead a major Iraqi military operation to take back Mosul from ISIS bad boys.
In Ankara, Yildirim said Turkish troops would stay in northern Iraq to prevent "efforts to forcibly change the demographic structure in the region" - an apparent reference to Turkish fears that once Mosul is liberated from ISIS, Kurds or Shiite groups may take Mosul over Sunni Arabs or Turkmens.
"It is a waste of time for the Iraqi government to focus on Turkey’s presence there, when there are troops from 63 different countries" to fight ISIS, Yildirim said.
Earlier this week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... expressed Ankara’s willingness to join the imminent battle for Mosul. Yildirim later warned that the operation could spark Shiite-Sunni sectarian tensions if the majority Sunni region around Mosul were to be placed under Shiite militia control after the offensive.
Meanwhile, ...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow... Iraq’s parliament adopted a resolution denouncing the extension of Turkish troops’ presence, asking the government to consider them as "occupation forces." Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said Ankara’s insistence on maintaining troops in Iraq could lead to "regional warfare."
Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, is ISIS’s last remaining urban stronghold in Iraq. The government is now gearing up for the Mosul offensive and has pledged to recapture the city from ISIS this year.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Rebels holed up in Aleppo can leave with their families if they lay down their arms, Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Scourge of Qusayr... said on Thursday, vowing to press on with the assault on Syria’s largest city and recapture full control of the country.
The offer of amnesty follows two weeks of the heaviest bombardment of the five-and-a-half-year civil war, which has killed hundreds of people trapped inside Aleppo’s rebel-held eastern sector and torpedoed a US-backed peace initiative.
Fighters have accepted similar government amnesty offers in other besieged areas in recent months, notably in Daraya, a suburb of Damascus that was under siege for years until rebels surrendered it in August.
However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... rebels said they had no plan to evacuate Aleppo, the last major urban area they control, and denounced the amnesty offer as a deception.
"It’s impossible for the rebel groups to leave Aleppo because this would be a trick by the regime," Zakaria Malahifji, a The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... -based official for the Fastaqim group which is present in Aleppo, told Rooters. "Aleppo is not like other areas, it’s not possible for them to surrender."
Washington was also sceptical of government motives: "For them to suggest that somehow they’re now looking out for the interests of civilians is outrageous," White House front man Josh Earnest said, citing the heavy civilian toll from air strikes and bombardment.
The army announced a reduction in shelling and air strikes on Wednesday to allow people to leave. It backed that up with an ultimatum: "All those who do not take advantage of the provided opportunity to lay down their arms or to leave will face their inevitable fate."
The government also sent text messages to the mobile phones of some of those people trapped in the besieged sector, telling them to repudiate fighters in their midst. More than 250,000 people are believed to be trapped inside rebel-held eastern Aleppo, facing dire shortages of food and medicine.
Speaking to Danish television, Assad said he would "continue the fight with the rebels till they leave Aleppo. They have to. There’s no other option."
He said that he wanted rebels to accept a deal to leave the city along with their families and travel to other rebel-held areas, as in Daraya. Neither Assad nor his generals gave a timeline for rebels to accept their offer.
Washington accuses Moscow and Damascus of war crimes for intentionally targeting civilians, aid deliveries and hospitals to break the will of those trapped in the besieged city. Russia and Syria accuse the United States of supporting snuffies by backing rebel groups.
The war has already killed hundreds of thousands, made half of Syrians homeless, dragged in global and regional powers and left swathes of the country in the hands of jihadists from ISIS who have carried out attacks around the globe.
The United States and Russia are both fighting against ISIS but are on opposite sides in the wider civil war, with Moscow fighting to protect Assad and Washington supporting rebels against him.
Storming Aleppo’s rebel-held zone, which includes big parts of the densely populated Old City, could take months and cause a bloodbath, the UN Syria envoy warned on Thursday.
"The bottom line is in a maximum of two months, two and a half months, the city of eastern Aleppo at this rate may be totally destroyed," said Staffan de Mistura, invoking the 1990s atrocities of the Rwandan genocide and Yugolsavia’s civil war.
